"my dog is a wolf" dog-people are super-reactionary. Small companies jumping on the ecologically-sustainable trend putting less water-intensive grains like oats, investing into fish farms, cricket farms and mealworm farms and moving away from beef production in favour of chicken is a-okay. But the moment Hill's, Purina, Mars or other big businesses are late to the party with the eco-conscious trend, tone suddenly shifts to "MY DOGS ARE NOT MEANT TO EAT INSECTS! THIS IS A (insert wild antisemitic conspiracy theories about finance capital, green capitalism and 15-minutes walkable cities)." If you actually want to defeat big corporations, maybe prioritize workers' rights and workplace democracies? All of the dog-food companies have serious violations of workers' rights and land rights somewhere in the production chain. Even the raw food companies are not exempt.

For starter, you could focus on how working around frass causes a lot of health problems in insect-raising facilities. Instead of the whole "my dogs are not meant to eat bugs" knee-jerk repulsion.

Beruf: Geisterjäger (Teil 1/3) – Johnny Sinclair 01

Johnny Sinclair ist mir in Teilen zu kindisch – gerade der Anfang. Es wird aber besser. Es gibt einen sehr hohen Erzähleranteil. Der Erzähler spricht mit dem Hörer, wie wohl (inzwischen?) bei Kinderhörspielen üblich. Ist aber bisweilen unterhaltsam und ganz witzig der Gute. Mir gefällt, dass der Erzähler wichtig für das Hörspiel ist und eine Rolle einnimmt. Ab dem Zeitpunkt war mein Interesse geweckt und das ganze kann sich vielversprechend entwickeln. Ich werde wohl doch die nächste Folge hören. Für Kinder finde ich das Hörspiel in vielen Teilen zu gruselig. Krasse Sound-Effekte. Johnny ist 12 Jahre alt. Wenn das die Zielgruppe ist, passt es jedoch. Zumindest geistiges Alter.

Johnny Sinclair ist ein Namensverwandter von John Sinclair und möchte Geisterjäger werden. Den Einstieg bilden die ersten drei Folgen der Serie als Dreiteiler.

A lesson in bones being too clean and not clean enough. The first wolf is from a client who purchased it as 'professionally' cleaned. He wanted some minor cleaning done since professionally cleaned usually means simmered, whitened, but not degreased. When the wolf arrived I noticed it has what I could only describe as bone glitter flaking off of it, and the zygomatic was broken. The skull was likely boiled which caused the flaking and made the skull brittle. So I'll be doing a full restoration on it, degreasing, fixing the broken zygomatic, and sealing it to ensure there's no more flaking.

Second wolf was beetle cleaned annnnd that's it. It arrived covered in frass (beetle poop), beetle casing, and a few live beetles. Definitely not ideal. Most beetle cleaned skulls I've received were at least rinsed or treated with chemicals before being sent just to ensure there weren't any stowaway bugs, but that's why any things I get in that aren't fully cleaned on arrival I open outside just incase. Not a big deal for me personally, but I figured it would be a good cautionary tale for newer collectors.

secrets can kill: no food minigame in either version. can’t even order a burger. shit game. 0/10

stay tuned for danger: there is mention of pizza and there are bagels physically present. cannot take the bagels. also a shit game. 0/10

message in the haunted mansion: no food. no cooking mini-game. nancy is just eating broken porcelain in the corner of her room. shit game. 0/10

treasure in the royal tower: there is mention of a bag containing fifty frozen chicken wings but we are denied access to the chicken. shit game. 0/10

the final scene: there’s just gross ground pizza in this game and you can’t even steal concessions. shit game. 0/10

secret of the scarlet hand: there are diarrhea inducing cookies that nancy vandalizes art with but no other food. literally a shit game. 0/10

ghost dogs of moon lake: nancy subsists solely on jerky, raw worms, and soda. shit game. 0/10

the haunted carousel: there is food nancy can eat but nothing beyond that. thin fucking ice. 3/10

danger on deception island: cooking minigame which gives you the power to kill someone as well as available food. excellent game. 10/10

the secret of shadow ranch: you can make a cake and interact with vegetables. i will allow it. 5/10

curse of blackmoor manor: available food and a cooking mini-game for birds that, again, gives you the power to kill someone. excellent game. 10/10

secret of the old clock: nancy can carry around a raw fish in her purse but she cannot eat it. there is pie, but it is merely a construct. thin fucking ice. 1/10

last train to bluemoon canyon: great cooking mini-game even if it’s for a limited time. can kill someone in spirit with a cheeseburger. nancy can’t eat herself sick with anything so that kind of sucks. 8/10

danger by design: parfait mini-game, cookie mini-game, tea mini-game and rats free for nancy to devour as she wishes. good game. 8/10

the creature of kapu cave: shaved ice mini game and i guess technically the frass sorting mini game since nancy could eat that if she felt like it. do not get to see a pineapple in person once. good enough game. 4/10

the white wolf of icicle creek: cooking mini game with multi-facets and the ability to harass people with seasoning. nancy is apparently just eating snow but i’ll allow it. excellent game. 10/10

legend of the crystal skull: no cooking mini-game but plenty of food nancy/bess can eat themselves to the point of endangering their lives. acceptable. 5/10

the phantom of venice: both gelatto and poisoned sausage as well as plenty of bird feed for nancy to munch on if she pleases. passable game. 4/10

the haunting of the castle malloy: no available food besides bricks but there is a drink mini-game. also a passable game. 5/10

ransom of the seven ships: i’m pretty sure there’s fruit but nancy can’t eat it. all she can consume is sand and the adrenaline of the hunt. shit game. 0/10

warnings at waverly academy: no food, but a fantastic cooking mini-game. purpose, eavesdropping, and unholy culinary abominations of toasted tomato bagels. excellent game. 10/10

trail of the twister: nancy only eats candy and nothing else. it’s like being six years old again and not trusted with kitchen implements. thin fucking ice. 2/10

shadow at the water’s edge: bento mini-game, but no consumable food for nancy besides the leaves in the garden. she must graze like a deer to survive. acceptable game. 5/10

the captive curse: nancy can eat pretzels until she becomes an over-salted corpse. an efficient and strategic way of surviving during an investigation. no cooking mini-game, but nancy can dunk her head in a bucket of well water so that makes up for it. great game. 8/10

alibi in ashes: no cooking mini-game but there is enough ice cream for nancy and the drew crew to force their bodies into complete digestive shut-down. passable game. 5/10

tomb of the lost queen: no cooking mini-game. no food. nancy only has the sand and locusts. shit game. 0/10

the deadly device: again nancy is forced to subsist on candy and gummy bears. no cooking mini-game despite being there being a kitchen. barely passable game. 4/10

ghost of thornton hall: there is only the tea mini-game and no available food. nancy is eating rocks in the graveyard, but at least she can put seven limes in her tea to prevent scurvy. good enough. 4/10

the silent spy: cookie making mini-game and plenty of food for nancy to shove into her hungry mouth hole. acceptable game. 8/10

the shattered medallion: no food and no cooking mini-games. nancy is seemingly expected to cannibalize her fellow contestants to survive which is a concept i’m into. thin fucking ice. 1/10

labyrinth of lies: no snacks besides thanos. shit game. 0/10

sea of darkness: cooking mini-game that is limited to still images and requires math. no available food for nancy besides the snow and soren’s sweaters. i’ll allow it. 5/10

midnight in salem: there is a cooking mini-game, but the enjoyable parts are limited and unrepeatable. no available food besides the pancakes nancy makes and carries in her pockets. remedy making mini-game is acceptable, but pointless. thin fucking ice. 3/10

Bokuto sober is already a lot, arguably too much, so Akaashi and Konoha tried to shut him up by getting him high. Indica only, sativa with Bo marks the beginning of the end of the world.

Couldn’t figure out how to inhale, poor innocent baby, so they ended up baking him brownies. Didn’t get the chance to warn him that they’re potent asf and hit like a truck an hour later before he wolfed down three. F in the chat

No one speaks of the Edible Incident, all we know is it wasn’t without vomit, tears, and Akaashi coming out with years taken off of his life.

Properly smokes up with Kuroo and Tsukki, fucking professional stoners ™️. Kuroo coaches him through clearing a bowl, and gets high as a kite.

So fucking giggly, so fucking giddy, honestly one big overgrown child and he’s the cutest cuddly fucking thing when he’s frassed. Keeps telling Kuroo and Tsukki how much he loves them, and cries about how much he loves Akaashi BokuAka canon

Das verfluchte Osterei

Es ist Ostern und TKKG nutzen die Ferientage für ihren Beitrag zum Geschichtswettbewerb der Schule. Dafür erlaubt ihnen Professorin Moosbach ein paar Tage auf ihrer abgelegenen Burg Klippenstein zu verbringen. Doch kaum haben es sich Tim, Karl, Klößchen und Gaby im mittelalterlichen Gemäuer so richtig gemütlich gemacht, versucht eine Banditenbande auf der Suche nach einem wertvollen Ei die Burg zu stürmen. Von der Außenwelt abgeschnitten gelingt es TKKG zunächst, die Angriffe abzuwehren. Doch die Belagerer geben nicht auf. Ein erbitterter Kampf um Klippenstein beginnt, bei dem der Jaguar der Sauerlichs zerstört wird, ein Rammbock im Wassergraben landet und Tim bei einer Schießerei verletzt wird. Als Klößchens Computerspiel und eine exotische Frucht die Ganoven in eine Falle locken, ist klar: Das ist selbst für TKKG ein Sonderfall.

Bei der anschließenden Suche nach dem kostbaren Fabergé-Ei brauchen sie Hilfe. Dafür laden TKKG jeden Fan in eine private, 5-köpfige WhatsApp-Gruppe ein und aus TKKG wird “TKKG und Du!”. Während Tim sich im Krankenhaus erholt, verfolgen Gaby und Karl eine heiße Spur nach Konstanz und Klößchen reist mit Georg nach Dresden zu einem Fabergé-Experten. In der Chatgruppe halten sich “TKKG und Du” auf dem Laufenden und helfen sich gegenseitig bei knackigen Rätseln und Rechercheaufgaben. Jeden Morgen werden die Fans von einem kleinen Hörspiel und personalisierten Zusammenfassungen des bisherigen Geschehens begrüßt. Die Ermittlungen laufen über volle 10 Tage - und zwar in Echtzeit. Schließlich schaffen es “TKKG und Du” schließlich, die Eierdiebin zu überführen. Doch dann geraten sie in eine Falle und Tim ist in großer Gefahr!

Nun beginnt das große Finale auf twitch: Die Fans können dabei direkt mit den Sprechern über den Chat interagieren und unterdessen über die Kameras ins Tonstudio auch einen Einblick in die Produktion erhalten. TKKG setzen auf die Schwarmintelligenz der Fans, die alle zusammenhelfen, Tim aus dem bitterkalten Serverraum zu retten: Codierte Nachrichten werden entschlüsselt und Webseiten gemeinsam gehackt, bis Tim endlich befreit ist. Der Live-Escape-Room mit den Original-Sprechern von Tim und Karl ist das furiose Finale zum Oster-Abenteuer.

Folge 10: Nachts im Gruselpark

Eine Gruseltour im stillgelegten Freizeitpark – da sind TKKG natürlich mit dabei! Zwischen ramponierten Achterbahnen und einem kaputten Riesenrad genießen die Kinder die schaurige Stimmung. Aber plötzlich sind einige Handys und Tims Portemonnaie verschwunden. Ist der Gruselpark etwa doch nicht verlassen? Spukt es dort vielleicht sogar? Ein unheimlicher Fall für die vier Nachwuchsdetektive.

No iPhone photography here: The Collector's Show

Even though the Circle City Industrial Complex has been filling out as of late with all sorts of businesses, galleries, and studios, there are still a lot of long empty, dark corridors ideal for a great spooky photograph or two.

But the opportunity to see some really fine art should be more of a draw for most, particularly tonight (Jan. 18) at the Darkroom Revelations Gallery, operated by Tom Potter, Gayle Moore and Nancy Frass.

The gallery will reprise for one last time an exhibition featuring their own collections of work by over 20 photographers working in traditional film photography.

The photographs in this show are mostly black and white, mostly silver gelatin prints.

Certainly, it’s not everyday when you get to see an example of the renowned portrait photographer Yousef Karsh’s work. In this case a silver gelatin print of George Bernard Shaw.

Karsh also photographed Winston Churchill and the Kennedys and Khrushchev and anyone who was anyone in Mid-century America. Over 20 of his photos appeared on cover of Life.

Don’t miss photograph of Anwar Sadat entitled "The Last Smile," by Pulitzer Prize winner Bill Foley, who was working for the Associated Press at the time he took it. In this black and white print, you see Sadat decked out in full military regalia at the annual military parade in Cairo, a huge smile on his face.

Moments after Foley took the photograph, on Oct. 6, 1981, Sadat was assassinated.

In other photographs, being in the right place at the right time is also a crucial element, but darkroom work plays a more prominent role.

Tom Potter’s “Wolf Dream,” is a double exposure, an Ilfochrome print that shows one wolf seemingly dreaming of another wolf. Potter took the original photograph in Yellowstone National Park during the re-introduction of wolves there, when the temperature outside was 30 below zero. Appropriately, the photograph is cast in an icy blue.

Some of the prints have a calligraphic simplicity such as “Winter Trees” by Dr. Yong-Ran Zhu.

“Steps, Wells Cathedral,” by Howard Bond captures a stone staircase in black and white, in equal parts shade and shadow while Steve Sherman's "Summer House" has a haunted, elegiac vibe.

None of the work in this particular show, which also features work by locally-based photographers Rad Drew and Todd Matus, is for sale.

“We’ve collected all this we just thought to kick off the art year for 2018, it’s kind of our gift to the community,” says Tom Potter.

Wie tief sitzt der Wunsch zerfleischt zu werden.

Beruf: Geisterjäger (Teil 3/3) – Johnny Sinclair 03

Ein rundum gelungenes und tolles Kinderhörspiel. Aber nicht für zu kleine Kinder. Ab 8 oder 10 Jahren würde ich schätzen. Die erste Folge war wie gesagt nicht so dolle, aber hier stimmt einfach alles. Ich bin auf die nächste Folge gespannt. Die Kinderserie gefällt mir sogar besser als das Original. Irgendwie frischer, netter. Der Erzähler ist einfach genial.

Letztes Jahr sind drei Bücher erschienen. Ich bin gespannt wie viele Folgen das nächste Buch umfassen wird.

Bald ist das Chaos perfekt und die Geister spuken mitten in der Menschenmenge …

Beruf: Geisterjäger (Teil 2/3) – Johnny Sinclair 02

Dieses dreiteilige Hörspiel basiert auf dem gleichnamigen Buch. Das sieht von den Fotos her sehr schick aus mit vielen Illustrationen. So ein Buch hätte ich mir als Kind gewünscht!

Das Hörspiel kommt endlich in Fahrt. Es gefällt mir ausgesprochen gut. Viel besser als die erste Folge! Das Highlight ist für mich Wolf Frass als Erasmus von Rothenburg. Genial! Ich liebe diesen Sprecher. Toll, dass er nun in einer Serie ist, bei der er auch einen großen Anteil hat.

Und dann wartet in der Schule auch noch ein schwieriger Geschichtstest – und als einzige Schummelhilfe entpuppt sich am Ende ausgerechnet ein schwerhöriger Totenschädel, der einfach nicht die Klappe halten kann!
