@paramore reimagined & remixed songs from their latest album, This Is Why, and we got to hear from their collaborators on how this special project came to life. ✨
Bartees Strange’s first album ‘Live Forever’ dropped in 2020. I heard it around the time I realized for the first time in my life I had enough money to buy an instrument if I wanted to (shoutout getting laid off of 2 jobs in a pandemic lmao but fr). I’d wanted to be in a band and make music since high school but never got the chance so I said fuck it when the idea hit me, did some heavy research for 5 hours in the middle of the night, and bought a bass with the intention of making music eventually. I played everyday for hours straight and loved it but once I heard that album I was like “oh. ok I have to do this NOW.”
thinking back I actually released my EP around the time of the 1st pic - me watching a livestreamed set of his last summer.
fast forward another year and some change I finally got to see him live the other night on his 1st ever headlining tour following the release & success of his 2nd album ‘Farm to Table’. lmao the pic looks like I’m crying?? and I mean internally? yeah a little probably lol. the show was incredible. he and his band are a force of intense skill and joy and truly people doing what they were born to do. it’s so palpable and captivating. I got to meet them after the show and chat for a bit and they were all so kind + Bartees wrote the nicest note on a poster I bought.
I never thought I’d get the chance to make music and definitely never dreamed I’d be remotely capable of doing it all myself even out of necessity. and of course, I’ve had musicians/bands I loved a lot and who’ve absolutely inspired me over the years, but I never expected to find one that kinda just made things click as much as he has. he’s truly special and his star is on the rise in a major way. you love to see it. 🖤✨
