Hey, Supernatural fandom! Was John Winchester really a bad dad? Because I've never watched that show a day in my life, and I don't intend to, but I keep seeing conflicting takes all over the internet.

I've seen fandoms paint flawed fathers as straight-up abusive before (looking at you, Scream fandom slandering Wayne 🙄), so now I have to know: Was this man abusive, or was he just very flawed and this is just another case of fandoms lacking complexity comprehension skills?
