We have decided to revive an old Avatar: The Last Airbender x The Dragon Prince x Lego Monkie Kid crossover fic we started last year!

Just so everyone seeing this knows, ANYONE can join in if you know the fandoms <33

Inspired by a tumblr post talking about the cartoon incarnations of jack de sena: Sokka from A:TLA, Callum from The Dragon Prince, and MK from Lego Monkie Kid

Since we have both seen all these shows, we feel that we are better able to characterize our children and write their interactions better

Let it be known that you do not have to have watched all these shows to participate, if you know at least one of them well, then you're good <;33

One slight problem: we're kinda busy with. well. not pointing fingers cough, kara, cough (hey) but we also have a number of unfinished fics we should probably finish

but we're not peasants so we will juggle them all

So for this three-way crossover fic, we are inviting any writers well versed in any of these shows who are also willing to help on this project!!

We are still working out the logistics of having multiple people from across the world working on a single document, especially with accounts being a problem for some of us, so if you guys have any ideas, definitely share them!

As of right now, we have a google doc!! Accounts only appear as anons, so thats good! But you will have to put "—[your pseud]" with any brainstorming sentence idea (if you want!)

One of the more amusing parts of my job is when I do pro bono legal work which you might expect means I go to court and help poor people for free

However I am but a humble transactional guy so instead I’m spending my afternoon writing a little pamphlet about the government’s internet safety body which feels so much like a high school assignment

#the idea of pro bono work fascinates me #the concept behind it is that we have inherent privilege due to our level of education #and so should use that privilege to help those who can’t afford or don’t know how to access legal assistance #we’re supposed to aim for 35 hours of pro bono legal work a year but thankfully that is a target and not a requirement…

So I'm an area director at a summer camp, but yesterday my boss called me and asked if I'd be down to be the director of two areas and I said yes without thinking about the consequences. So now I'm the director of two areas? That means two groups of staff to train and lead, two sets of lesson plans, two areas to teach at and make the schedule for and make the lesson plans for, two physical areas to set up. They're right next to each other, but this is going to be fucking insane

#the reason this is happening is because we dont have a dining hall director anymore because the first decided to take summer classes #and the second got a research position. so the director of the area that my area is right next to. volunteered to switch #so the camp director called me yesterday and was like 'this is all happening would you want to take on another area?' #so i would be director of both. with kind of a concentration in the new one. while my assistant director concentrates on the first one #but id still have to lead both staffs. teach at both. be available to both. do records for both. set up both #i start thinking about it and i always realize another thing thats gonna be weird about it #but on the bright side ive decided i cant do the 5 mile hike requirement for my old area #every thursday we do a five mile hike for our class because its for requirements. and i hate it cuz its hard lol #but i realized that it wouldnt really work out for me to be across the lake with one area and leave the other area directorless #so guess i cant do that! oh nooo /s #but i have to make two teaching schedules.whoch i started last night #i have to both teach a suitable amount in both areas but also have enough free time to be flexible and available for both #i am so tired already. and i just got this news yesterday #i was up until 5am because i was planning shit and then i layed awake anxious for another hour #also i watched the disruptors which admittedly got me to stay up pretty late too. the grant obrien and ally Beardsley movie #its very good. but mostly i stayed up late because i was trying to figure out being the director of two areas #i think about it for two seconds and i realize another reason itll be super hard. i have to introduce two staffs at the campfire #i have to talk about two areas at the leaders meeting. i have to learn a whole bundle of new merit badges #im so tired

I think the worst thing about the perception of health, both mental and physical, and being disabled in either regard, is that the need for extra support is often viewed, institutionally and therefore culturally, as a dehumanizing element rather than a simple fact of the human experience. No man is an island, and yet, when it comes to needing anything from an IEP to a caretaker, these things are used to subvert one's rights and create the expectation of failure and that's a little ableist innit.

Volunteer first! In my experience libraries do almost all of their basic level hiring from their pool of volunteers, it's all very in-house. Get your foot in the door, spend 6 months or so working as a volunteer on the weekends, and make yourself into someone they recognize-- get a good map of the branch you're working for in your head, get good at finding stuff, clarify constantly, be willing to ask questions, be friendly-- and the next time they need a Page, they'll think of you first. Anyway the thing about computers is that they're basically just maths all the way down.

Not just one kind of maths either mind you - there's the typical modular integer arithmetic and boolean algebra, but also decimals in both fixed point and floating point configurations and all manner of other tricks, as well as the ability to convert between different kinds of operations and representations pretty much on the fly.

A single byte can be both a number, a character, a memory address, and series of true/false statements, potentially all at the same time.

The whole reason they're called Computers was in reference to a specific occupation with the same name, where a Computer was a person who was basically hired to do mathematical calculations; an Electronic Computer was basically a machine that did the same thing.

#going by wiki the occupation arose in the 17th century #astronomers of the time would often hire computers #to assist with the extensive amounts of calculations required #as the amount of calculations necessary increased #it went from single individuals to entire teams of computers #accordingly sometime towards late 19th century and onwards #the job went from being mostly men to being mostly women #a trend that was all the more pronounced with the world wars #since fighting in wars was and is seen mostly as a man thing #most of the computing was done by college educated women #someone had to do all the grids and tables and other aids #for anything from navigation to artillery trajectories #anyway history is kind of interesting like that #and now we have electronic computers that are math machines #which can use that math to make complex 3d graphics

Ah yes, my favourite time of year: the time when we figure out what the hell to get my grandma for her birthday
