TRACK 1
Curious Time
(1974-5)
It's dark all around you. You inhaled the smoke of different drugs with each breath but since it was so common in everyone's day, it wasn't bothersome. You pull the jacket a little tighter on your body, preventing the breeze from the ceiling fan from leaving you cold. Around you was just you and about ten other people at most, but you had arrived early anyway.
Your best friend had told you that there would be a performance by a rock band today, which made her interest grow that afternoon at the bar where she worked. She knew that you loved everything that involved this universe and since nothing occupied your schedule today, there you were.
You get up from the farthest table and make your way to the one closest to the stage, wanting to observe the members more. After arranging your things at the table with two chairs, after that making your way to the bar. You rest your torso on the marble object, smiling at the woman who was already preparing your drink.
“Are you looking forward to the band?” She asks, still keeping her gaze on her utensils. You nod with a wide smile. “I was told they were hot, and good, of course.” You roll your eyes while laughing, it was classic coming from her.
“Rock bands are always sexy.” You say, having a sip of the drink she handed you. “I wasn't that excited until you told me that Teddy Price was behind them, he's huge!!”
“Yeah maybe.” She shrugs, lighting a cigarette. “It doesn't matter, I have a boyfriend anyway. Can I help you with something else, kitten?”
You shake your head, letting her answer to the older guy who was waiting a few steps away from you. Do you feel him watching you as you put out the cigarette on your tongue, intrigued perhaps? You couldn't say it, your shyness didn't allow you to turn around and check.
If you had been watching Maria you'd see the curiosity also on her face when she noticed his gaze on you. And when you were getting ready to go back to your table you heard him softly, turning around.
“Sorry, were you talking to me? I didn't hear…” You calmly question, slowly seeing the bar fill with more people.
“I just asked if you've been a fan of the band for a long time.” He says once more.
“In fact...” You begin to say, trying to explain that you actually just knew the hit on the radio. “I'm just obsessed with Look Me In The Eye, my favorite, can't wait to see them play.” But something told you to get around the situation, and Maria's look at your conversation also said the same, since you knew every look your best friend gave you.
He agrees as he smiles small, you see him try to get something out of his pocket, while the other lowers the glass of tequila down his throat. “Here, keep this and go to the backstage door at the end of the show.”
You open your mouth to respond, very confused, but despite loving the idea of getting to know backstage, you knew that the probability of there being ulterior motives in this request was high.
“I'm sorry but I'm not interested in you.” You return the match, feeling embarrassed.
“What? No kid, I'm older enough to be your father.” He says, sounding just as disgusted by this scenario as you are. This relieves you, making you pull the match again. “I just don't have anyone to offer a pass to the party today, and you seem excited enough. “Just keep this, and go if you’re interested.”
“And who are you again?” Maria asks, her hands on her hips. You laugh at her.
“I'm Rod, the manager.” He responds, already getting up to disappear through the door towards the staff area.

Ecstasy was all that could define Warren Rojas at that moment (and perhaps throughout his life), he was finally accomplishing everything he wanted with his best friends, nothing could be better. He is the first to appear on stage, being welcomed by the audience shouting and applauding, he raises his drumsticks while his gaze quickly flicks to the people there, laying on you.
You didn't think he would be the one that caught your attention the most, not even if Maria was so right (after all, your taste in men has always been very different). Keeping your eyes on him you were speechless, every note he hit your whole body shivers.
The show was everything, actually mind-blowing for their first show of the tour, you were pretty impressed by all of them and their whole set. Billy says goodbye to the audience, the other members approach the edge of the stage to bow in farewell. Rojas observes you among the others, who applauded alongside you as they processed the most recent experience.
Warren Rojas (drummer of The Six): *chuckles* Yeah, I knew exactly what I was doing. I mean, she looked beautiful as she danced to our music. I just needed to get to know her. But it wasn't that easy...
Y/n L/n (songwriter): I actually was pretty nervous, I mean, I've been dreaming about getting close to rock stars since I can remember but actually doing it… it was intense. If I had known how things would go after that *laugh*
“I didn't want to say anything, kitten, But if you don’t decide soon what you want to do with this match, the party will end.” Maria says while drying the counter.
You let out a heavy breath, playing with the match between your fingers. “Do you think I should go?”
“You kidding? Of course!” She says it like it's obvious. “You keep telling me that this is the universe you want to be in, are you going to miss this opportunity?”
You don't respond, scratching the back of your head still searching for your decision.
“And if that guy tries something with you, you know just scream for me.”
Y/n Rojas L/n: She was right, I had been talking about all of that for so long that it would be stupid not to go.
When you hand the match to the security guard at the door he seems to check it before opening the door for you, it was like entering a sauna due to the drug vapor but you pretend to be used to it. As soon as you enter you can see Billy smelling a line so quickly that it causes you distress, Eddie had a girl you knew from somewhere you didn't know on her lap, Graham was playing something with Rod and Karen seemed to be feeling the effect of some drug kick in.
You think about turning around, feeling a little out of place, but Warren notices you entering the place and watches you from afar.
Y/n Rojas L/n: I felt someone looking at me, but I don't know, I didn't want to move because I was so nervous.
Warren Rojas: She was so pretty, I just wish I could remember everything from that night.
“Hey bella, you good?” You are startled by the drummer's voice behind you, right next to your ear so you can hear him.
“Oh, hey.” You turn to him, now noticing how poorly you had calculated the space between you.
Y/n Rojas L/n: It was an accident, I didn't notice he was so close.
Warren Rojas: *smirks* Aham.
“Hey.” He answers with the biggest smile you've ever seen. He squints his eyes.
Y/n Rojas L/n: He looked so high, I doubt he remembered anything from the set even. But it was cute though.
Warren Rojas: She thinks it was cute? Really? Wait a minute... *covers the camera* Hey babe, what's this about you..?
Warren was wearing a blue shirt, his jeans adorned him in the perfect way. His curls were a little damp, you couldn't tell if it was because of the heat in the room or because of the presentation a while ago. Embarrassed by the situation, you take a few steps back, your eyes fixed on the floor.
“You look lost.” He says laughing, and you notice that he takes a look at you. You seem to enjoy that. “I'm Warren Rojas. You are?”
“Call me June.” You say, accepting his hand when he extends it to you.
Y/n Rojas L/n: He was so kind to me I almost felt bad for lying about my name, I was actually shocked! I was just afraid, rockstars can be wild, and in my defense I thought I was never gonna see him again. *sigh* But you know, when you meet someone like Warren... Your life is never the same. At least mine never was! *You say, showing to the camera your wedding ring*
Warren Rojas: Can you believe she had the nerve to do that to me? It's not like I'd remember the next morning, but whatever.
Rock band parties were everything you imagined they would be, but Warren Rojas surprised you with every conversation. You didn't think that out of all the women there you would be the one to catch his attention but the drummer didn't let go of you throughout the event. And inside June's alter ego you connected with one of the most incredible men in the world, The drugs took over your consciousness while you were getting to know each other and that made everything even better.
Initially you stayed with the rest of the band, but after you mentioned that you liked writing things and producing music too, he insisted that you go back to the bar and you showed him. You didn't know if it was a good idea, but it was impressive how convincing he could be.
The night passed as quickly as the show, you talked and danced, smoked and laughed about the stupidest jokes you could tell. Even though you had met a few hours ago, You didn't know if it was due to the drugs or the little drink you had, but there was something different about being next to the drummer.
Interviewer: But did you continue to see each other during the rest of the tour?
Warren Rojas: Well… I kinda ghosted her.
Y/n Rojas L/n: *rolls your eyes*
Warren Rojas: *shrugs* I didn't mean to though. It's just, some drugs make me forget things. So I kind of never called back.
Y/n Rojas L/n: So, hear me out. Warren loves to say that I was crazy about him since day one but that's not true. I was not upset because he ghosted me, I was upset because I felt like I lost my opportunity to get into the industry. So, that's why I gave my number to him and also to Rod. And after I met Daisy, things just fell right into place. And somehow we keep meeting each other.
Interviewer: So you weren't into him?
Y/n Rojas L/n: I was attracted to him of course, but back then all I wanted was to go for my dreams. I didn't even know If I was going to meet him again.
Interviewer: So what happened?
You knew Rod was going to stay another day, you had heard last night that some complications had occurred and he would need to deal with them. The band was leaving early today, they would all meet up at the bar, so you decided to sleep together with Maria in your room upstairs. The bar owner was downstairs talking to those who had already arrived, you could see him when he stopped on one of the steps.
You see Warren and Eddie at one of the tables, they both look tired and clearly hungover. You deduce that they slept little and will recover during the journey to the next city, Then you finish your way to the end of the stairs giving a wave to Rod and Pablo who smiled in response. You make your way to Rojas, knowing he wouldn't forget your face this time.
“Good morning drummer.” You're the one who catches his attention this time, Warren feels happy in your presence. Eddie inspects you like he's trying to remember who the hell you are.
“Hey bella, my god how are you standing up? I can't even open my eyes after last night.” He turns to look at you, you feel comfort in this attitude. And he actually seemed unable to assimilate his surroundings.
“Well, I didn’t use everything you used yesterday.” You say with a weak laugh. He agrees, smiling with you. “I was going to the kitchen to make something to eat, you guys want something?”
“No need to bother.”
“I would love scrambled eggs to tell you the truth.” Eddie speaks at the same time as Warren, who gives him a reprimanding look. "What? She offered.”
“Don't worry, I'll be right back.”
Y/n Rojas L/n: I made them breakfast, for all of them, then I left my number on Warren's napkin and left it to talk to Rod later. Well, we know that neither of them helped in what I wanted.
Warren Rojas: She was so into me that she left her number on my napkin. *smirks* " I mean, she couldn't be more obvious.
Y/n Rojas L/n: I didn't hear from either of them for a long time, so I decided I didn't want to wait any longer. I gathered all my things and savings and moved to LA. But don't worry, I didn't move out of nowhere, I had this moving planned for over a year. I would stay at a relative's house while I looked for a place for myself. I'm not crazy, right?
Interviewer: So you haven't talked after you left?
Warren Rojas: Exactly, you know, the whole thing about being a rock star was great, I was having the time of my life, and to be honest, the first night was nothing compared to the rest. My wife will hate me, but it didn't take long to forget everything.
Y/n Rojas L/n: Looking back I understand why he didn't recognize me at all, I changed my whole wardrobe and hair when I moved.
Tumblr media
(1975-6)
Y/n Rojas L/n: Sometimes, it's all about networking.
Writing things under June's name was easier, thanks to Warren you gained a great name to let out your thoughts and ideas, so you started using it since moving to LA. You sold song lyrics under that name and started working with him and everything that involved personal things was still yours.
But the market was at a standstill, that was the best way you could define it. You had the money to still be there, but it wasn't pleasant to live in fear of the edges. And whether or not you wanted to be more active in the artistic world, this wasn't what you expected.
That was the fourth party you attended that week, little by little your hope was fading when things didn't seem to go the way you expected. And even if you tried to keep your creativity and desires alive, everything ended up on paper as sad lyrics and melodies. Still, you watch the singers interact with each other while dancing, drinking and doing drugs.
Apathetic around you, what consumes your thoughts is the probability of returning home, but you are taken away from them when a commotion around you begins, after a loud splash of water. You turn around curiously.
A red-haired woman sang while smiling mockingly, the guy in the water seemed furious and bitter, you then got closer listening to her sing “Stumble on Sublime”. She looks at you and raises her eyebrows, she comes closer.
“This song isn't his, by the way.” She passes you by isolating herself in a far corner of the party.
Daisy Jones: Y/n got me, like Simone she just understood me. She was probably the only one at that party who didn't judge me for pushing that asshole, and I liked that.
Y/n Rojas L/n: So we spent the night talking about lyrics, songs and everything related to that. She introduced me to Simone and we started seeing each other everyday. Daisy and Simone were the ones I needed to finally let all my inspiration out.
Simone Jackson: Y/n was fire, it was difficult to find pure talent like ours *laughs* But joking aside, we spent our mornings creating music and Y/n became an important part of Daisy's album and also a great help in mine.
Y/n Rojas L/n: Daisy was brilliant and I was good *laughs*, so her album was getting amazing. You heard it right? You can tell me I'm right. I was just thrilled that she invited me to work with her. *Holds up Daisy's record to the camera and points to your name*
Daisy Jones: Daisy and June were fire and intensity, Margaret and Y/n are friendship from start to finish.
Simone Jackson: But Daisy had a problem, the drugs were getting her behind. And even though she thought it made her create amazing things, we were getting worried, she just disappeared at times.
Y/n Rojas L/n: Unlike The Six, Daisy didn't have a tour... I don't know why.
Artie Snyder: Daisy had great songs, when Y/n joined the equation everything got better, but she wasn't rock. I didn't see crowds screaming and jumping to her songs back then, I couldn't risk the money.
Interviewer: How were things with The Six?
Rod: *smirks* A disaster, I mean, Billy had quit and they were completely lost. I knew he needed the time, but I believed he wouldn't spend so much time away from music. And I was right, he came up with Honeycomb… but it wasn't perfect. So Teddy had an idea.
Billy Dunne: *rolls his eyes*
Daisy Jones: Me and Y/n were drinking and smoking with Teddy one day, when I heard this really soft song coming out of the speaker and I just stopped.
Y/n Rojas L/n: I wasn't even paying attention until I saw that she was *laughing*, but from the moment I saw her look at me I knew we had to get to work.
Daisy Jones: Teddy asked us what we would do with it and I asked him for two days. That was all we needed.
Y/n Rojas L/n: It was a long two days, it was a complex song, I wish I had talked to the composer before, but Teddy said it was impossible. So I did my best with what we had.
Daisy Jones: In the end he loved the result, and asked me to record in the studio. Y/n didn't like being in this part of the production, in the singing I mean, but I still asked her to come with me. She loved the production part and choosing rhythm and instruments, so it was our moment to shine, we were very excited.
Y/n Rojas L/n: I couldn't believe my eyes when we entered the room.
Warren Rojas: *giggles*

Miss Froggie - Original
I was listening to Rock House, a show devoted to rockabilly, on WEVL while grilling hamburgers tonight & I heard this fun tune by Warren Smith & thought I’d track it down on YouTube Music & share it. For those not familiar with WEVL, they are a listener funded, volunteer radio station in Memphis but you don’t have to be here to listen because they stream live on the Internet. They are seriously one of The City’s overlooked gems. They have definitely introduced me to music genres & artists that I wasn’t familiar with. For instance, Hawaiian slack string guitar. I didn’t know that was a thing that existed, let alone that I enjoyed listening to it and this station has a whole Thursday evening show devoted to it. As for Warren Smith, Fallout fans will know him from his song, Uranium Rock.

I wanna say it The music in DD2 is such a downgrade :\
And the game has the same composer as the first. so what happened? The music all has the same melody and sounds like it's being piped in from another room underground. The equalizing is very muted, I strongly guess the reason is to make the music more streamer friendly so it's easier for people to talk over the game.
The music from the Warrens AND the Cove still shake my damn heart, it's incredible stuff! Each zone in DD1 has a unique melody and instrumentation, it goes above and beyond to build atmosphere.
I was disappointed to find the last confession boss has the same music as fighting The Heart. Really. I wanted to feel the horror of fighting this monstrosity - instead I was given trodden ground.

Movie Review: “Long Story Short: Willie Nelson 90”
“Long Story Short: Willie Nelson 90” is so long …
HOW LONG IS IT, MR. SOUND BITES?
“Long Story Short: Willie Nelson 90” is so long, the producers built in an intermission - a “4:20 break,” they called it - about halfway through the film’s three-hour run time. Oddly enough, the manager of the theater where the film debuted June 11 - encore showings are slated for June 13 and 14 - frowned upon those of us who took the reason for the pause literally, meaning we’ll have to wait for the home-video release for a real 4:20 break.
But it was needed, as the movie - edited down from Nelson’s April 29-30 all-star concerts/90th-birthday celebrations at the Hollywood Bowl - is far too long. For all the highlights, there are less-than-thrilling appearances from Beck, Nathaniel Rateliff, the Lumineers (singing “Pretty Paper” in April), Miranda Lambert, Sheryl Crow, George Strait, et. al that do little more than make the movie house chairs feel even more uncomfortable.
Built around some 40 performers, occasionally solo or with their own groups, but mostly backed by a house band that included music director Don Was on bass, Greg Leisz on pedal steel, former Black Crowes guitarist Audley Freed, soon-to-be-former Punch Brother Gabe Witcher on fiddle, Belmont Tench and Booker T. Jones on keys, Mickey Raphael on harmonica and the McCrary Sisters on background vocals, “Long Story Short” works despite its flaws.
And how could it not? With a band like that, a guest list that would render even the most famous person starstruck (Dave Matthews, who turned in an appropriately weird solo version of “Funny How Time Slips Away,” sure was) and a bunch of Nelson’s greatest songs - plus Warren Haynes singing “Midnight Rider” and Jack Johnson on the hilarious “Willie Got Me Stoned and Took All My Money” - the highlights are too many to mention.
But then there are the highest of the high, which follow in order of appearance:
* Billy Strings opening the show just as Nelson would and setting the tone with “Whiskey River.” The only thing wrong with this was saving one of the best for first, which is not how these things are supposed to work.
* Particle Kid - aka Micah Nelson - performing “Die When I’m High (Halfway to Heaven),” written from his father’s perspective, with Daniel Lanois playing pedal steel without picks. The effect was both comedic and ethereal.
* Rodney Crowell, Emmylou Harris, Waylon Payne and Raphael collaborating on Crowell’s “It Ain’t Over Yet,” a spellbinding song about aging gracefully in the music business.
* Rosanne Cash singing “Loving Her was Easier (Than Everything I’ll Ever Do Again)” to - and with - Kris Kristofferson while changing the word her to you. At 86, Kristofferson seems older than the birthday boy, making this heartfelt performance the stuff of lumps in throats as the two stood with arms around each other and sharing friendly kisses before Cash melted into the arms of her father’s former Highwaymen bandmate.
* Lukas Nelson channeling his father as a young man - both on guitar and at the mic - on an eerie solo performance of “Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground.”
* Willie singing “Stardust” while trading solos with Jones.
* Norah Jones performing “Down Yonder” in memory of “little sister” Bobbie Nelson.
* The Avett Brothers - sans house band - admonishing everyone to “Pick up the Tempo.”
* Gary Clark Jr. giving a guitar clinic and sharing the spotlight with Raphael on “Texas Flood,” which he dedicated to both Willie and Stevie Ray Vaughan.
* Bob Weir singing - really singing his heart out - “Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain” while Strings, who looked as if he might shit himself with glee, played Willie’s parts on acoustic guitar.
* Jamey Johnson proving himself an incredible crooner on “Georgia on My Mind” while Haynes chipped in slide guitar as only he plays it.
* Neil Young, Stephen Stills and all three Nelson boys giving an emphatic affirmative to Young’s musical question: “Are there Any More Real Cowboys.”
* Snoop Dogg, with a gold mic and an unlit blunt in his hands, joining Willie for “Roll Me up and Smoke Me When I Die.”
* Willie’s strongest vocal performance, alongside Keith Richards - who sang better than he has in ages - on “We Had it All.” Bonus: Richards’ eye makeup was a gas, gas, gas.
The thing ended with every performer on stage for “On the Road Again” followed by everyone singing “Happy Birthday to You” with Willie singing along and emphasizing the word, ME.
There’s such a thing as too much and “Long Story Short” - a misnomer of the highest degree - has it. But with such a diverse guest list that spans generations and genres, it’s unlikely anyone other than the number-loving Willie Nelson himself would enjoy every number. And if Willie had a happy 90th, then it’s OK to spend an hour more than necessary in a theater to celebrate in his honor.
But it’ll be even better at home, with a real 4:20 break and a remote control equipped with a fast-forward button.
Grade card: “Long Story Short: Willie Nelson 90” - B

DEAREST ADVISOR.
❥. yandere! emperor x advisor! reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
• liam luwelton was one of the most famous emperor on the history of lobelia empire. while he was praised for being a good and powerful ruler. he was also famous for being a womanizer who hook up with so many girls yet, he didn't even chosen any of them to be his empress.
• don't blame him, he likes having fun. but he hates when he got attached or tied to something that will hinder him. he was only doing this for his own entertainment after all. no one stayed on his side for so long anyways, well maybe except to the captain of his imperial knights, warren, his childhood friend.
• that was the main reason why he became surprised when warren's younger sister, you, became his advisor. the most amusing part was warren is the one who recommended you. hmm, it seemed like your brother doesn't even care about the fact that liam's mother, the previous empress, fired all the female servants after knowing her son's tendencies to, uhm... seduce them.
• that was the main reason why he was excited to finally meet you. the famous sister of his friend. he wanted to know how long will it take for you to became smitten and obsessed with him? ahh, just thinking about it makes liam so excited.
• but you were fucking different that he expected. who in the hell is in the right mind to greet the emperor for the first time while wearing a damn pyjamas? what the fuck? as far as he knew, you were the damn daughter of a duke. so, what in the hell was wrong with your fashion sense?
• well, keeping your fuvked up fashion aside. you were indeed good at your job. even though you can be pretty hard headed sometimes, you were able to carry yourself with so much confidence and boy, oh boy. he likes it so much.
• maybe, that time when he basically threaten you to wear an appropriate dress to attend a certain banquet with him. was the time when he realized that he fucked up. yeah, his motto that 'no string attached' crumbled down as he saw your annoyed face when the maids' dressed you up with the most elegant dress that he gifted for you. and the fact that you got drunk that night and mumbled some cute nonsense didn't helped either. fuck. the main reason why he got you drunk anyways is to fuck you. but damn, he can't bring himself to do it since you looked so cute while clinging to him for support!
• as a yandere, liam was overbearing and posessive. gosh, this guy is unhinged and practically crazy. he's an emperor for the petesake! he killed his siblings to ascend to the throne. so don't expect that he's a nice guy!
• those times that he escaped the palace just to go outside and hook up with girls? yup, he stopped doing that for you. expect that while working, his eyes were focused on your every move. you talk to other guy other than him and warren? expect that he will be fired the next day. and why is that? well, it's your fault.
• he was now fine with you working in your pyjamas, you're so cute wearing that after all! but, in exchange he will increase your workload 10x because he knew that you always goes home after finishing your work, he just wants to spend the whole day with you!
• don't even think of quiting, darling. because liam will not let you to do so. unfortunately, he was able to wrap his pretty fingers around you with you being unaware of it. ahh, he just loves how clueless you are when liam fired all the male servants on his palace and replaced it with the female ones to make sure they you won't be able to flirt with them while working.
• all in all, liam is head over heels for you. he wants you for himself to the point that he spread the rumour about you being the next empress of the prestigious lobelia empire. just to shackle you by his side.
• but of course, your usual playful older brother doesn't like it at all. so be ready, because just like a prince on the fantasy stories that the two of you read before. he will do anything to save you, his precious little sister even if it means he needs to burn down the whole empire and kill liam for you. i mean, when you were a kid, you mentioned that you wanted to be a ruler. so just sit back and let your big brother, warren do the work <3.
“ our love comes first, everything is secondary.”

Tumblr media
Unrequited love. The leading cause of heartbreak not only in America, but in the rest of the world, too. It's that feeling in the pit of your stomach that sits there and never really goes away, no matter how many times you try to stop thinking about it. It plagues you, haunting every memory you have. You're left to wonder what could have been if, how things could have been different if. It's always an "if", always ending in a question mark and not a period.
You're love for Graham Dunne had never wavered in the twenty two years you had been in love with him. Not when he took your hand and guided you around the neighborhood because he was your fiercest, if not smallest, protector. It only grew when the two of you kissed each other under the bleachers at a high school football game, getting it out of the way with "no strings attached" before you opened yourselves up for dating. It didn't stop when he got his first girlfriend and you were left thirdwheeling. It didn't even begin to fade when he moved out to LA to pursue music while you stayed behind in Pittsburgh, destined for a typical 9-5 job.
Graham had his fair share of girlfriends, especially after The Dunne Brothers was formed. His role in the band, while not as popular as Billy, was prominent. He was cute, naive. But apparently so were you.
When you had heard the news that the band was on tour, set to stop in Pittsburgh, you reached out to Camila to confirm if it was really them. Of course, you had every album they had released, including 7,8,9—their newest.
"Camila," You had said into your phone, twisting the cord around your fingers, "Have they changed any since I last saw them? It's been, what, a couple years now, hasn't it?"
She sighed into the phone, "Other than Billy and I being parents? No, I don't think so. Warren is the same as ever, Eddie's a little more irritiable though. You'll meet Karen, she's got a no bullshit attitude. You'll love her. Your Graham still looks like a deer in headlights anytime he sees a pretty girl."
"Got it. And you? Are you coming?" You asked, hopeful you'd be able to see her again after so long.
"I'm going to try. I'll have to take Julia with me, though. It won't be easy, I'm a few months pregnant, Y/N."
Eyes widening, you smiled, "Oh, Cami, congratulations."
"Thank you, really, it's been hard being away from family. But I've got Billy and the boys, Karen, too, so it's not all bad. They're excited to see you, Y/N. Especially Graham. He hadn't stopped telling everyone about you since they scheduled Pittsburgh on the tour."
"He's been talking about me?"
She laughed on the other end of the phone, "Everyone already knows you, except for Daisy. But he can't help himself. He's like a kid on Christmas, dying to see you."
Trying to steady your breathing, you took a deeo breath, "Well, I'll see you guys in a few weeks, then. Keep me posted on how you're doing, though. Being pregnant on the road can't be easy."
"I will, Y/N," She said, "We'll see you soon. Julia, can you say bye to Y/N?"
"Bye bye!" A smile voice said on the other end of the phone.
Your heart melted a bit, "Bye Cami, bye Julia. See you soon."
With that, you hung up, your heart beating out of your chest.
You only had to wait a few more weeks before you saw him. It shouldn't be that hard.
-----------------
You met with the band at the concert venue, holding a bouquet of flowers in one hand and a bix of Graham's favorite chocolates in the other.
As soon as the van doors opened, Eddie opened the passenger door, sliding out onto the pavement. The two of you had known each other since middle school, but it was hard to believe it was him. He had changed. He had grown into his body, looking more confident than he had in the eighth grade.
He gave you a warm smile, pulling you into a side hug, "How are you, Y/N?"
"I'm doing good, just glad to see you guys. And you, you're doing good?"
"Couldn't be happier," He said, his smile faltering slightly as he spoke. Something had happened, you just weren't sure what it was.
Billy was the next out, helping a pregnant Camilla out of the van with one hand, his other supporting Julia.
Camilla waddled towards you, arms out before you could even say hello. Taking her daughter from her husband, she introduced her to you with a big smile.
Kneeling down, you handed Julia the small bouquet of flowers, "These are for you and your mama, Julia."
The girl gasped, hugging them to her chest as she looked up at her mother, jumping excitedly.
Camila mouthed a "thank you" and then looked back at Graham, who stood still, his eyes locked on yours.
Giving you a wink, she picked Julia up and followed Billy to scout out the venue.
As soon as she stepped to the side, you were being scooped up by Graham. He twirled you around, squeezing you so tight you found it hard to breathe.
When he finally set you down, you grabbed his arms for support, laughing at his straight-forwardness.
"It's good to see you, too, Graham," You said, pulling him in for another hug, "It's been too long. Pittsburgh isn't the same without it's favorite Dunne."
"I don't think I'm the favorite Dunne," He said, sheepishly scratching the back of his neck.
You shrugged, "Maybe not, but you're my favorite."
"Then that's all that matters."
From the side of the van, a woman cleared her throat, looking expectantly at Graham to introduce her.
"Oh! Y/N, this is Karen, our keyboardist. She's British."
Karen stepped forward, nodding to you with a smile before looking at the younger Dunne, "Are those the only words you could think of to describe me?"
"I was put on the spot."
"And how would you describe her?"
Graham smiled, "Karen, this is my best friend in the whole world. We've known each other since we were in diapers."
Coming from the driver's side of the van, Warren walked towards you with outstretched arms, "Pears!"
"Pears?" Karen asked, looking at the drummer.
"Peaches and pears," Warren explained, nodding towards you and Graham, "Had to find some way to embarrass them, Karen Karen."
"Alright," She laughed, "How much mescaline have you had today, Rojas?"
He shrugged, "Enough to make the drive fun."
----------------
At dinner that night, you were seated next to Graham, and across from Eddie and Camila.
"So, Y/N/N, what have you been up to? Still in school?"
"No, I graduated in May, actually. I start my new job next week."
He clapped your back, "No way! Congrats, Y/N/N. I wish I could've been there to see your graduation."
"It's all good. I've been busy, anyway. What about you guys? Anything planned for after the tour?"
Graham nodded, taking a bite of his food, "Something big that Billy would kill me for talking about. Let's just say you'll have to buy our next record."
You released a breathy laugh, shaking your head, "I've still got your first two in my apartment."
"So, you seeing anyone?" He asked.
Was this some sort of code? Was this his way of preparing to ask you out? You had already waited twenty two years for this.
"No, I'm not. How about you?"
Before he could answer, Julia's cries filled the room. Camila looked around, apologizing as she began rocking her slowly, trying to calm the toddler down. Another tantrum, you guessed. Every bit as fiery as her father.
The conversation continued for another hour without you ever getting an answer to whether he was seeing anyone. You felt wrong bringing it back up since he had already moved on to telling you about the concerts they had been playing the past few weeks.
By the time the check came, you weren't ready to end the night. But they had an early morning tomorrow, with rehearsals and the concert. You understood and bid your goodbyes.
As they drove off, you walked to your car. But you didn't have your purse on you.
Walking back in the restaurant, you went back to your table, finding your purse hanging on the back of a wooden chair, along with Graham's wallet on the table.
Deciding to drop it off at their hotel, you got in your car and started driving.
-------
When you got out of your car, the first person you saw was Eddie, leaning against a pillar while taking a drag of his cigarette.
He straightened when he saw you, a smile on his face, "Y/N, I didn't know you were coming over."
"Me neither," You laughed, "But Graham forgot his wallet."
"I'll walk you in. They won't let you go in without one of us," Eddie said, putting out the flame of his cigarette in an ashtray.
You thanked him, following him inside the hotel and to the elevator.
Making small talk on the way up, you were reminded of how kind Eddie was. He was the most sensible of the group. Not blunt like Karen, not naive like Graham. He wasn't as tough as Billy or as laid-back as Warren. Camila had always been the voice of reason, but Eddie was outspoken.
He led you to Graham's door, knocking on it a few times.
When the door swung open, Graham was standing on the other side, less than half dressed.
Eddie stepped to the side, revealing you behind him.
A surprised expression settled over the youngest Dunne brother, "Y/N, what're you doing here?"
You dug his wallet out of your pocket, "You left this at the restaurant. Can't really go anywhere without it."
He smiled, taking it from you, "Thanks, I appreciate it. You have—"
From inside the room, a woman's voice rang out, "Graham, get the fuck back inside and finish what you started."
It wasn't just any woman, though. It was Karen.
You saw her shoes in the middle of the room from where you were standing, clothes strewn on the floor and dresser.
"I'll leave you to it," You said, swallowing the bile that rose in your throat.
Did he know your heart was breaking? You wouldn't wish that feeling on anyone. It was the worst feeling in the world.
Turning on your heel, Graham didn't bother calling out behind you. He just closed his door, going back to what he hadn't finished.
God, you hated saying that.
Eddie walked beside you, taking notes of your expression. But he waited to say anything until he got in the elevator, "I'm sorry, Y/N. I didn't... I didn't know they were together. Not just in there, but at all."
You stayed silent, unable to look at him. It wasn't his fault, but you were about to crumble.
"Y/N? Are you okay?"
That's what broke you. Falling into his side, Graham leaned forward to catch you, his arms wrapping around your waist to support you as tears came rolling down your cheeks.
The elevator was filled with your sobs. You weren't the only one who's heart was breaking. Eddie had always hated seeing you like this.
When the doors opened, Warren appeared on the other side.
Eddie mouthed, "Go get him. Car."
He led you out to the car, a hand pressed on your back as he led you outside.
You slipped in the backseat with him, head resting on his shoulder.
"I thought... I thought he'd..." Your chest heaved, your hands frantically wiping your tears away, "I didn't... Eddie..."
"Shhh," He soothed, "You're going to be alright. I'm here, okay? I'm not going to leave you."
You nodded, clinging to his shirt as you tried to calm yourself.
That's when you heard a knock at your window.
Eddie reached over to open the door, Warren smiling down sympathetically at you.
"Pears, I've got somebody here to see you," He said softly, turning to his friend beside him, hissing, "Jesus Christ, zip it up, asshole."
That stung.
Graham poked his head through, "Y/N/N, what's wrong?"
Eddie glared at him. Another Dunne brother to add to his growing list of people he couldn't give two fucks about.
"Warren, are we interrupting something? I feel like we are."
"Get your head out of your ass, Dunne." Eddie snapped, gesturing towards you.
You pulled away from Eddie, "Can you give us a minute. Please?"
"I'll be right outside if you need me, okay?"
Nodding, you watched as he slid out of the car while Graham slid in, the doors shutting. You had never felt so alone.
"Y/N/N? What's wrong?"
"You, Graham. You're what's fucking wrong."
"I don't, I don't understand..."
You shook your head, "How long have we known each other?"
"Twenty two years."
"Do you love me?"
He nodded, "Of course I do."
"No, Graham, are you in love with me."
"Like—love love?" He asked, quite literally twiddling his thumbs.
"Y/N..." He trailed off.
Your head fell into your hands, inhaling sharply, "You may not be in love with me, Graham."
Sitting back up, you looked him in the eyes, "But I've been in love with you since we were in diapers. That hasn't changed. And it hurts, Graham, it hurts so much to see you with someone else. Because I love you. I always have."
He was silent, unsure of what to say.
"Um, Y/N... I... I'm sorry, I just... I don't think..."
"You didn't think anything of us being each other's first kiss? Nothing of us going to prom together two years straight? Me coming to all of your concerts? You coming to my recitals? Nothing? Absolutely nothing? I was so excited to see you, so excited. I was finally going to tell you how I felt. But I found you with another woman. You told me you had a long day and an early morning and that you couldn't hang out tonight. But you were just fucking your keyboardist."
"Y/N, she's not just my keyboardist."
Your nails dug into your hands, "Get out."
"What?"
"Get out, Graham. Out of my car."
"I'm sorry, I really am."
You pushed him away from you, screaming, "Get out!"
He didn't budge, trying to talk you down.
"I'll always love you, Y/N/N. But you're like my sister."
"I never want to see you again. Ever. I never want to have to look you in the eyes. I'm done, Graham. I'm done always being in second place.
He put a hand on your shoulder.
"So help me Graham, if you don't get out of my fucking car."
He got the message that time, his head bowed as he grasped the door handle.
Before he could leave, you muttered one final sentence, "I'm happy you found someone you love, Graham."
He didn't say anything, slamming the door and walking back inside the hotel.
You slammed your fists against the leather seats of your car, the thread hitting your knuckles just right so that they split open, oozing blood.
It burned, the blood on your hands as you tried to apply pressure.
The car door opened a few minutes later, Eddie sliding back in beside you. Taking note of your bloody hands, he slipped out of his shirt, leaving himself in a white undershirt.
He wrapped the sleeve around your bloody knuckles, pressing down on the wound.
Tears began spilling down your cheeks again and you leaned into him, your head in his chest as he stroked your hair, promising that you'd be okay.
Like you, Eddie had his handful of unrequited love. First Camila, then you. But like Graham, you were to blind to see that.
