Pelle Pelle by Marc Buchanan, established in 1978 in Detroit, Michigan—my city—was originally designed to make a mark in the outerwear industry.
However, it achieved far more than that. With a legacy that spans over 46 years, the brand has become a staple in urban streetwear and has revolutionized leather apparel. I had a lot of fun playing around with this.
Thank you to the beautiful Madison Star for being the muse for this project, and for allowing me to express my creativity through her. I saw those photos from her shoot and instantly thought— “ this is giving me The Source Magazine, 2003. “ and I had to take it there. I love everything she’s doing, and she’s the sweetest soul. One of my favorite mutuals. You can view the full post on my instagram too !

Questions for Tami
How many books have you written?
This is a fair question. Any new reader who finds my work on a store isn’t going to immediately know that I have other pennames, or that I frequently publish short stories in magazines. The reader who stumbles over my fanfiction on AO3 isn’t going to know I have flash fiction on Tumblr or even a website.
To keep track of all my work, I have a spreadsheet that notes the title, what penname, when I finished it, how long it is, and where I’ve first published it. It has more details, but the important part is I can open that spreadsheet and scroll down and down and tell you…
I have written 116 things.
These things are a mix of novels, novellas, and short stories. They don’t include my fanfiction or flash fiction. Most of these things are available for purchase—although a few are on submission or just waiting in line to be published.
It has been on my to-do list for some time to make a complete reading list available for download on the website and I just haven’t gotten to it yet. Now is as good a time as any, right? Here’s a list: https://www.tamiveldura.com/biblio/

Tumblr media
Caught in the tender hum of a city's heartbeat, there she stands—a still whisper amongst the clamor of pedestrian symphonies and the gentle sighs of the breezing wind. Her hair, a cascading nightfall of silken threads, spills gracefully down her back, each strand catching the light with the softness of a raven's wing. The world hustles by in blurred currents of color and life, but she, oh she is the quiet in the eye of human hurricanes. Her gaze, a soulful, faraway muse, is lost in a daydream or perhaps locked onto an arcane secret playfully hidden in the mundane.
She is draped in the casual elegance of city dweller grace; an off-the-shoulder sweater clings with careless precision, suggesting warmth and style born not from the pages of glossy magazines but the intricate dance of necessity and personal flair. The skirt, a concert of gentle pleats, flirts above her knees with a choreography of innocence and mischief, performing for an audience of cobblestones and urban tales. Her legs extend, two pillars of strength sheathed in noir, into boots that click with purpose and whisper with every pavement kiss—a soft anthem for the wandering soul.
Poised with an umbrella at her side—a staff of sorts—she's Merlin's apprentice in a modern-day Camelot, a stalwart silhouette against the whispering lights and passing shadows of everyday knights and paper dragons. In this snapshot of life, she is timeless, a vignette of stillness amidst the ceaseless rush of existence. In her contemplative stance is a novel, unwritten, waiting for the day it spills out onto the pages of someone's searching gaze.

Fashion Contextual Studies:
Week 3:
Part 1:
1940s: Lee Miller
She is one of the most significant photographer ever, as well as one of the best female photographers. She dominated the scene when it was predominantly male industry. She had a lasting influence in the field, however she was more than that, she was a muse, a fashion model, war correspondent, photojournalist, and more. She became a part of Condé Nast Publications and working with American photojournalist David E. Scherman, she took some of the most famous images of World War II–era atrocities. She did held back and showed all the gruesome and shows the reality of war, thus becoming some of her most memorable work.
Tumblr media
When she moved to Paris in 1929 to be a surrealist apprentice under Man Ray and being his assistant. Together they created a new photographic technique called solarisation, through which black and white hues are reversed, creating a halo-like effect. This method was completely accidental as she turned the lights on while developing some photographs.
Tumblr media
Very surrealist and entering the uncanny valley just a little bit with their solarisation technique however very elegant and beautiful. Her work can also be quite intimate however does not shy away from controversy such as when she took photograph of an ss guard dead floating in the water or even controversy, her naked in Adolf Hitler bath with her army uniform on the floor or even a fashion shoot with the aftermath or bombs and war visible in the background. She essentially took photographs of whatever it is she wanted instead of sticking to a mould or a specific thing and was not afraid to go after it and keep expanding.
1950s: Robert Frank
He has always had an interest since he was young and came to America to find work. He found work as a commercial photographer, most notably at Harper's Bazaar under Alexey Brodovitch’s highly influential editorial vision. Most well known for his book The American in 1959 which created a lot of commotion and talks as lots thought it was hateful. Controversy covers the book however it remains one of the most influential photojournalistic style photography book.
Tumblr media
"He used a handheld camera to present a picture of the US that was provocatively out of sync with the insistent optimism that often characterised Americans' postwar sense of self." Showcasing how things are instead of a different light. Bringing a sense of objectivity in to photography, to view everything as he has, being an outsider. Which he also took in to his career in film. "These works have no allegiance to any particular process, format, or method; they combine Polaroids, 35mm negatives, collage, photomontage, stencilling, handwriting, scratching, and splicing." His work is very gritty, raw and expressive. His images shows a wide view and gives the whole image. He doesn't shy away from capturing things most people don't want to see and choose to ignore it.
1960s - 1970s: David Bailey
He is one of the most influential fashion photography around this time most known for his work with actors, musicians and high class models. He was inspired by Henri Cartier-Bresson when he became interested in photography and when he returned from the Air Force, he became John Frank assistant and shot fashion. He published Box of Pin-Ups, his first photography book which included a rnage of black and white images of celebrities such as Mick Jagger, The Beatles, Twiggy, Andy Warhol and many more. He received the title of Commander of the Order of the British Empire from Queen Elizabeth II. He also got awarded the Lifetime Achievement award from the International Centre of Photography in New York. He also has had his work displayed in multiple different gallery in London.
He is seen to the pioneers of contemporary photography. Not only that he, along with others, set the standard for fashion photography in magazines such as Vogue and Harper's Bazaar, creating the aesthetic of the 1960s as one that was gritty, urban, and linked with music subcultures such as punk and rock. His work revolves around fashion and celebrity portraiture. With this, he shows them through a different view, one more youthful. His style of a stark background and dramatic lighting is seen through out. Shooting in the British 60s, he managed to capture the cultural breakdown of rigidness and class by incorporating the working class and even the punk look into the products he was shooting.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
1980s: Richard Avedon
He had a 60 year long career and is one of the most important photographers from the second half of the 20th century. He is a fashion and portrait photographer who often works with a lot of famous people. His work is noted by the strong black-and-white contrast creating an effect of "austere sophistication". In his portraits of celebrities and others, he created a sense of drama by often using a stark, white background and eliciting a frontal, confrontational pose. He revolutionised fashion photography and is one of the first photographer to include people of colour in his work. he also had a massive role popularising the romance of an American in Paris trope.
Tumblr media
1990s: Cindy Sherman
She is most known for her self-portraits in disguise, often upon the themes of feminism, criticism and stereotypes. She is a key figure of the "Pictures Generation," a loose circle of American artists who came to artistic maturity and critical recognition during the early 80s. A key person for the conceptual art movement. She first started as a painter and then transition to photographic work revolving around transforming herself to fit a narrative, tell a story or to highlight social critism and standards. She always try to keep them as realistic as possible. She is very unique in the sense that she only does self-portraits.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2000s: Annie Leibovitz
She is a renowned artist known for her dramatic, quirky, and iconic photographic portraits of celebrities. Her style is characterised by carefully staged settings, superb lighting, and use of vivid colour. Her style is most associated with the Vanity Fair look as she was the one who created it, leaving a huge mark in the art world. What sets her apart from everyone else is her ability to capture the personalities of those she's shooting and let it shine through.
Tumblr media
2010: Réhahn
Rehah is most famous for his work called the Precious Heritage Project, a way of preserving lots of different cultures of the countries. His work is very bright and colourful and captures the soul. What stands out about his work the most is the fact that it is focused on Asian countries, predominantly Viet Nam, and those natural and random interaction he has with people. Instead of curated studio shoots. This makes his work have an element of fun and mystery to it as it is very hard to replicate the interaction and choose who photograph.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Part 2: You have been commissioned by Ann Demeulemeester to shoot two on location advertisements. Research the brand and tell us in detail how you will approach the commission based on the house style. How will you make the images? Equipment, team etc... (in detail) and where? A fitting location... (in detail).
She is known for her combination of glamorous and sophisticated aesthetic yet rebellious, sharp and overall dark. Her work is predominantly bold black clothing, or they remain quite neutral. She experiment with textures and asymmetry within her work. If there are colours, they will be very bold deep colour.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Inspired by specific looks that have been done previously, the way I would approach a location shoot is to have 3-4 different lighting attachments such as soft boxes, reflectors, beauty-dish and the honeycomb. This is to be able to achieve numerous different moody lighting. Creating shadows. This will let us highlight certain area purposely and bring it out.
The first location I'm thinking of is the Milan Cathedral as the brand has a very chic, edgy and almost grungy-gothic feel to them. With all the different organic shapes and textures in their look, I feel a church which is very poised and stagnant will perfectly contrast these looks full of movement. For this shoot I would say a full day of work will be needed, 8-6, with a full team from 3-4 models, makeup and hair team, photographer and assistance, 4-5 people setting up the place with lights and more. I want to play with the dark romantic feel these looks gives, with this location it will work wondrously together. The church also complements the looks with their own architectural textures and details.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Location 2 I would think to shoot in a desert, what comes to mind to the Antarctic Deserts. Again that light and bright landscape once again work with and contrast all the details of the look even more as it is a plain and desolate background. Again contrast is necessary, as all the looks are quite dark, this will perfectly show it off. Again movement of the garment is also easy to achieve here.

Stylist Research
In order to being planning my refined trend shoots, I needed to do some stylist research to get some inspiration.
Tumblr media
The first stylist I looked at was named Aldene Johnson. Aldene grew up in South Africa, but moved to London in her early twenties and became vice magazines first uk fashion editor. She is now a stylist and fashion consultant who has styled for Florence Welch from Florence & the Machine since 2009, amongst many others. She explains in a magazine article that her own style is “vintage with contemporary; classically feminine with a bit of androgyny.” I think this is a very similar concept to what I am going to attempt to convey, so analysing some of her work may help me achieve that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
What I noticed amongst her editorial work is her emphasis and attention to detail regarding how her muses pose with their hands. As you can see in these 3 images of Florence she is gently touching herself in different positions, which I think makes the whole ensemble look delicate and elegant. This combined with her eyes being either closed or only open slightly I think adds an element of tension and seriousness; creating a very atmospheric mood especially coupled with the eye contact in the middle image. Another consistent feature I noticed in this shoot is the warm editing, with it signalling something more friendly and inviting. Despite this being a huge contrast against the tension and seriousness created by the posing, I think they compliment each other well.
I think my favourite look of Johnsons is the one in the top left corner of the moodboard above. It keeps in line with the delicate elegance seen across the majority of her works, but combines it with darker garments that emulate exactly what I am striving for. This is demonstrating to me that this calm, collected, serious style of posing can be very effective when paired with gothic hints, and is something I could utilise.
The second stylist I researched was Izzy Lewin, who is a stylist for Dazed magazine and previously worked for Another Man magazine. Lewin herself has a distinct goth style, explaining on an interview with that “the fictional character i relate to most is Edward Scissorhands”, which lends a hand to her styling which mostly falls under the gothic umbrella and can be seen on her instagram account.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The thing that interests me and I like most about this styling is the way she combines a variety of different garments and even just pieces of material to construct her ensembles, and even though they are put together from such a mixed match bunch of things, the looks appear effortlessly put together. For example, the look on the left. The combination of the sheer lace material and the fishnet tights pulled up isn’t conventional, but it looks good aswell as offering something more exciting to look at; which can be marvelled against the contrasting light grey background. Most of her work which can be seen above follows this theme and evidently makes for some very visually appealing, meticulous looks, which is something I definitely plan on trying for my shoots.
The final stylist I looked into was called Kitty Cowell, who styles fashion campaigns and editorials for the likes of urban outfitters aswell as celebrities such as Sigala and Loyle carner.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What caught my eye about Cowells styling is her combination of authentic, gothic features like dark make up and horror inspired features such as horns made from hair using hairspray, with slicker backgrounds and poses, providing a rich contrast, as typical gothic imagrey often has busy backgrounds such as music venues or clubs. Despite some of her works carrying that same seriousness as Aldenes and Lewins, some of her looks take on a more playful aesthetic. For example, the magazine cover on the right hand side. The other stylists works feature a lack of props drawing attention to the protagonist, but here the guitars almost create a scene, a narrative, which I think without the props wouldn’t be present.
In conclusion, I think this stylist research has been very helpful in informing some photoshoot ideas, an initial one being layering different sheer and lace garments and fabrics on top of each other to create a more flamboyant look. I also didn’t realise the power props hold and how they can shape the message a photograph conveys, which is something I will definitely pay attention to.

Mary Katrantzou X Bvlgari Launch Serpenti Luggage
The opening of the first Bulgari Hotel in Milan in 2004 further confirmed the expansion technique of the brand, and was the result of a joint venture with Luxury Group, a division of Marriott International. In 2009, Bulgari celebrated its a hundred and twenty fifth anniversary with a retrospective of the brand's historical past, held in Rome at Palazzo delle Esposizioni. That identical yr, the snake—a motif that appeared in Bulgari collections from the 1960s—re-emerged as the symbol of the Serpenti assortment. Bulgari diversified its model in 1993 with the launch of its first fragrance, Eau Parfumée au The Vert and the founding of Bulgari Parfums in Switzerland to oversee the creation and production of all perfumes. The layered black and green trim gives the bag depth, and the gold-tone chain shoulder strap brings the whole look together. The leather prime deal with, however, gives it a business-like, briefcase look which is pleasingly androgynous. The blue and black snakehead is prettied up with a silver tassel that gives slightly bit of fancifulness. Predictably compact, this clutch is soft and luxurious to the contact. The inside compartments make it simple to organise your essentials, and the silver-tone chain is a beautiful crowning glory. Find the right gift and personalize it to make it truly unique. Ahn additionally introduced an urban-glam contact to a quantity of accessories for the collection, including a heart-shaped coin case, three completely different bank card holders, and a three-coil Serpenti bracelet. The whole capsule is currently obtainable to shop on-line. Courtesy of BulgariThe hobo however is way from slouchy. It features a gentle gold plate Snake head closure. Small smooth calf leather envelope clutch bag. This luxurious Bulgari handbag in deep sea green patent snakeskin leather-based is ideal to decorate up your casual outfit. The Italian luxury brand Bvlgari created famend, elegant and graceful designs for both jewelry, watches, equipment and perfumes since 1884. Quality and distinction types the basis of Bvlgari to create the timeless and eleganct designs. I’ve all the time liked the snake head on Bvlgari luggage. I’d pick one up on the preloved market or if a selected model caught my eye, but the worth definitely makes me hesitate. Araki's fashion sense has gained him the "Best Dresser Award" final 12 months. His fashionable characters have appeared in magazine spreads and on the catwalk. It's for a particular collection designed by Ambush's Yoon Ahn. The nourishing products have shortly turn into our editor’s favorites. wikipedia handbags I see plenty of bags, naturally, however very few tactfully combine the artwork of jewellery and leather-based as well as Bvlgari. Please take a second to browse through my hand-picked collection of elegant designer purses. Before you go, I have put collectively a evaluation of the most elegant designer handbags in a set that I suppose you'll enjoy. Since opening their doors in 1884, Bvlgari has embodied the opulence and class first envisioned by Greek-born founder Sotirio Bulgari. Over the 136 years that the fashion house has been in enterprise, they have designed a number of the most iconic jewellery, shoes, and baggage in the world. The mild gold chain strap is reminiscent of the curved body of a snake. The effect is, in fact, heightened by the classic serpents head ornament above the fastening. Compact however surprisingly spacious, this can be a good, chic option for days out. An integral part of fashion, purses and purses have been indispensable equipment ever since we started to carry around personal items. In 2011, Bulgari signed a strategic alliance with LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA, the world's main luxury group. The settlement was based mostly on a inventory switch of the Bulgari family's shares in Bulgari S.p.A. to LVMH, an all-share deal for €4.3 billion ($6.0 billion), higher than LVMH had supplied for another firm. Quilted looks are firmly again in trend, and this shoulder bag slots completely into the niche with its jewel red calfskin leather chain strap. The brass-tone chain and snakehead, with its shining onyx eyes, really contrast the relaxation of the bag well, however the quilted leather top flap is the star of the show. The Bvlgari Serpenti Forever Crossbody Bag is the favored crossbody model of this bag, which presents a structured high deal with in addition to a sequence and leather shoulder strap. https://re-pin.me/bvlgari-replica.html The exterior features smooth calf leather panels, in a wonderfully fairly rosa di francia hue of pink, that overlay to create a singular design element which adds dimension. When you open the bag, you’re met with three compartments and the again offers a small open pocket with an connected metallic mirror, which is a really luxurious contact. The shoulder strap, which makes use of a snake-shaped chain along with leather the place it will sit in your shoulder, is each removable and adjustable.

If you could have muse for your art from the idols, who are 5 people in men and women you would choos and why
ANON!!!! oh man ok. lemme put my thinking brain in.
ok let's talk some basic logistics. muse implies using the idol themselves as inspiration, which is not something i normally do in my personal practice but i will gladly indulge for this thought experiment. the way that makes the most sense for me to approach this like brainstorming concepts/projects that i would like to use these particular idols for, if i had infinite money/opportunity yadda yadda.
ok ok ok. let's go:
taemin - this one was probably a no brainer, but i have a theoretical taemin comeback that i'd love to be the creative director for and it lives rent free in my brain all day every day. as for why; i think he'd be a really interesting collaborator and he's very versatile as a performer no matter what people have said about his acting (final life was a bad script ok, it wasn't all him!). we have very similar ideas and interests and i think it would be fun.
woodz - i would kill to work on a comeback with him because same reasons as taemin, he's smart and talented and has a very clear confidence in performing and i want to push that as far as it can go. but really what i want to do is shoot and style like a dozen different magazine spreads of him. so badly. he models so well.
hongjoong - please refer to this post that is sort of a joke but also absolutely not a joke one day i am going to direct this kid in a play and then you will all SEE
ten - baby you are WASTED as a boy group member. his skill in contemporary and urban choreo are rare for an idol and he's already got the theatricality; i wanna do a series of installation performances with him about identity + presentation because i think he could really deliver on how he shows conflict and that slippage between performer and person and audience. also he speaks what? four languages? more great material.
san - i think he has soooooooo much potential and he's worked so hard to improve since debut and i want to throw him in more stuff that pushes his limits since he's also interested in acting. see in aforementioned hongjoong post that i'm casting him as guildenstern in rosencrantz and guildenstern are dead, but also yea i'm gonna shoot like a dozen magazine spreads of him too. including one that's an unrealistic glamourization of college house parties in the mid 2010s. just because.
sunmi - also a no brainer, she's smart and beautiful and has a very good understanding and depth of theme in her work. would absolutely die to shoot an mv styled like that 17th/18th century revival that happened in the 80s; i'm talking draughtsman's contract/dangerous liaisons/amadeus but reintroduce some 80s aesthetics into it. we're gonna use some stuff from the thom browne ready to wear spring 2020 collection and it's gonna be insane. i can think about theme later. i'll come up with something.
cl - the alpha performance video bit me in the fucking ass. she and her stylist were on something for most of those mvs for that ep and i want to push the pseudo art deco thing they gestured vaguely at even further. i love that she understands fashion and how to actually use it (see her appearance at the met gala) and i wanna get in there and play. doesn't have to be a whole comeback specifically but at least a performance video for sure.
sunye - not ashamed to admit this choice is mostly because she is SO beautiful, but i really want to blow her hair out to full farrah fawcett and shoot a summer 70s themed magazine spread. she's got the face and the presence and i think it would be really cute to put her in some british mod/twiggy type mini jumpsuits and have her zip around on a penny board at the beach.
hyolyn - i loved her coming of age ceremony stage with junsu and this hit me like a bolt from the blue and it doesn't have much more justification than 'she's got a bigass cross tattooed on her abs' but i would LOVE do to some borderline blasphemous catholic inspired styling. or just use her for an incarnation for one of my passion projects about christian iconography.
boa - please queen i would do anything for you just ask. blank cheque no questions.

Here are some of the amazing bottom Louis fics that were posted or completed during the month of September. We hope you enjoy this list. Happy reading!
1) Hard Candy Dripping On Me (Til My Feet Are Wet) | Explicit | 1997 words
Louis gets fucked on a plane. That’s it.
2) Fucking Nightmares | Mature | 2151 words
Louis has a nightmare. Harry comforts him.
3) You Could Take A Lick (But It's Too Cold To Bite) | Explicit | 2469 words
“You look kinda thirsty.” Louis croons softly.
Harry leans back in his chair and tilts his head to the side. His eyes are covered by the pair of expensive shades, but Louis feels his eyes drifting down his backside as he lays on his stomach.
“Why don’t you bring me a bit of that ice cream, darling?”
Louis and Harry have fun in a summer day.
4) Interview With The Vampire  | Explicit | 4135 words
Note: The fic pairing is Louis/Robert Pattinson.
Working at an alpha magazine wasn't always easy for an omega like Louis, but he's just landed his biggest interview yet with an A list actor who has asked for Louis especially. Unfortunately, the interview is with Rob Pattinson, the biggest pain in the arse alpha on the planet.
Inspired by Rob’s interview in GQ Magazine and not actually about vampires
5) Conozco La Vida | Teen & Up | 4761 words
Note: This fic contains no explicit smut, but since it’s omega Louis, we’ve included it.
"I have a son," he declared, there was a very thinly veiled layer of hesitation.
Harry was unaware in the direction which this conversation was heading but chose to stare at the man instead.
"He is an Omega," he dropped the pivotal piece of information.
Harry's attention was hooked now.
"He has been raised in an Omega convent all his life, he hasn't been in the presence of any Alpha who isn't his immediate family."
"I am still waiting for you to make a point."
"You could take him as an Omega."
Harry did not react, his face remaining perfectly free of betrayal of any sort of emotion and leaned back upon his chair, his leg crossed upon his knee. "You are selling your son to me?"

Don’t call me baby again.
7) So Baby, Let's Keep It Secret | Explicit | 4638 words
“I’ll leave with you,” Harry said after a beat, sounding sure of himself.
“What!? No!, you can’t leave with me, Harry, you have a life here. You have a job and friends an-”
Harry kissed him in the middle of his rambling. “Which means nothing if I don’t have you.”
Into You Music Video AU.
8) ZOMOS | Mature | 5659 words
Is it easy to forget everything and start afresh? Is it easy being served with hateful glances and insults when all you wish for is to be loved? Is it easy to make it seem like everything is alright when in reality your world is crumbling into pieces with every breath you take?
Is it easy to be the omega who is unwanted by their alpha?
9) Your Biggest Fan | Explicit | 9075 words
Just like everyone else, Louis has a few habits that he can’t seem to break. Guilty pleasures, rather. His nails are perpetually short because he can’t quit biting them, the bottom of his shoes scuffed from tapping his foot constantly. Sometimes his leg gets a cramp from bouncing it so often underneath his desk. That isn't too bad, he reckons, just some average teenage coping mechanisms. And also, occasionally, minor instances of theft.
10) Making A Splash | Explicit | 9557 words
“You want this?” Harry muses, fisting his cock as he drags his hand lazily up his thick length. Louis eyes the motion and nods his head absentmindedly. “You want to show everyone at this beach how much of a slut you are for Daddy’s cock?”
“M‘your slut,” Louis immediately replies, inching closer, inching closer with his eyes glued on Harry’s glistening cock, precome shining under the sun as it dribbles out his slit.
Harry grins widely and stops the movement of his hand to grip himself at the base again, pushing Louis’ head down. “Show everyone how much of a slut you are.”
11) Hung Up High in the Gallery | Mature | 14006 words
When Harry’s best friend, Louis, comes to support him at his art show, he decides they need to do some celebrating afterwards. How fast do the lines between friends and lovers get blurred ... or better, get painted?
12) My Home Is Your Body | Explicit | 15341 words
Note: The fic pairing is Louis/Henry Cavill.
He had seen who had made his senses go haywire. His ex was in the front row, five feet in front of him. He felt his eyes on him even as he mechanically made his way to the end of the runway, hoping to God he didn’t look like a maniac. Everything was a blur. He somehow managed to walk the rest of the way without falling or emoting anything. Why was he HERE? Of all places.
...where Louis is a successful omega model and the last thing he expects is his ex to become the co-partner of the new company he works for....
13) There's Nothing Like It (Nothing At All) | Explicit | 15471 words
Note: This is a sequel to this fic.
His hands are outstretched on the mattress like he’s reaching out for something, reaching out for Harry. It makes his heart swell, almost bursting with affection and love. He only waits a bit longer before reaching over to turn off the light and pulling Louis to his chest, smiling when the omega immediately sighs in contentment, nuzzling into his skin happily.Tomorrow, he tells himself. Tomorrow, they’ll talk about it.-Or, Harry isn’t ready for things to change, and the end is just the beginning.
14) Seven Simple Words | Explicit | 15535 words
It’s not like he and Louis were a couple. No, they might have been a lot of things—best mates and colleagues with a seemingly convenient friends-with-benefits arrangement—but never a couple. It wasn’t Louis’ fault he didn’t feel the same way and couldn’t reciprocate Harry’s feelings in the way he’d wanted, the way he’d needed. Harry had allowed himself to get in too deep, his entire being aching to be loved back by the object of his affections. But in love, as in life, you don’t always get what you want.
15) Works Like A Charm | Explicit | 18061 words
Ever since Louis joined the team in fifth year, a few facts have become set in stone.
One: Louis is the best chaser in Hogwarts.
Two: Harry is the best beater in Hogwarts.
Three: They do not get along.
So it’s really unfair of Liam to think that forcing them to spend time together as Louis recovers from his injury will make them the best of friends. The last thing Louis would do is get along with that git.
16) The Way This River Runs | Explicit | 27417 words
It’d be so easy to just open his mouth and plead with Harry, to scream I’m sorry until his voice disappears, but he can’t. Be it his pride or his ego or his insecurities, he just can’t do it. The worst part is that he knows Harry would probably forgive him.
But Louis doesn’t want phony forgiveness. He doesn’t want Harry’s soothing words and pity embrace, thinks he might just break altogether if he was offered them. He feels like he’s made of glass recently and it’s to the point where he kind of wants to tip over the edge, just to see if he’d shatter. Just to see who’d be there to pick up the pieces if he did.
17) Give Me Love | Explicit | 41041 words
Louis doesn't feel like a good omega, Harry doesn't remember how to be an alpha, and they figure it out together.
18) Falling Out Of Fashion | Explicit | 42123 words
Harry Styles has been the established face of the Grimshaw House of Design for two years. It’s a prestigious and coveted modeling contract Harry took away from once-famed supermodel Zayn Malik. With the model transition Grimshaw’s designs went from a more urban, Zayn-forward aesthetic, to a Harry-favoring flowery, flowing femininity in the Grimshaw designs for men.
So when Harry sees a dress Grimshaw made for a famous Marvel actress, “only a tease”, Nick says, of the evolving look, Harry knows Grimshaw is shifting his aesthetic.
Harry wonders if he can pull off the look.
19) Three Days In February | Explicit | 189346 words
Louis is cursed after a night out with the lads and the five have just three days to figure out what happened and how to break it before Harry and Louis both lose their sanity and maybe something more. Louis can hear everything Harry thinks and Harry isn’t sure he can keep his feelings for Louis a secret from his own mind.
Ridiculous amounts of banter and angst, a lot of Harry and Louis alone together, a healthy dose of OT5 friendship, and one very magical weekend.
20) Boss Bitch | Explicit | 386901 words
Harry had always wanted to work for this successful mafia; the mafia that everyone knew, everyone feared. Led by none other than the pahntom
"L'eue Courante", whom everyone knew existed, but had no other clues who this person could be. The only thing known was a high heel the phantom once left.
So this person had to be woman, Harry assumend. And man, was he wrong.

Barakamon: The Renovation of the “Manic Pixie Dream Girl”or The Anime Version of Muse
Although it is my first attempt to anything other than Kuroko No Basket, but I hope this rant is reached out to the people who have found this particular anime as inspiring as I have.
Disclaimer: the animes I mentioned below, I don’t hate or despise them. So please don’t come defending that I am bashing them: because I am not. I used them to point out the difference between them and Barakamon
Tumblr media
We all know these type of story: a genius male protagonist hits a slump, meets a quirky girl and then comes back to his field fully charged with his creative genius. Most of the time the hero is romantically involved with the heroine, and when the story is nearing resolution either the heroine is conveniently killed off or bonded forever with the hero. Barakamon follows the same bildungsroman pattern. But Barakamon is not like many anime belonging to the same type of story like Nodame Cantabile or Your Lie in April: because it reinvents the heroine from a quirky love interest to a real, living breathing human child: Naru Kotoishi.
Naru's character have always perplexed me. She is a haywire child, nightmare to babysit for any person who is born and brought up in urban propriety, untamed, unfeminine, liberating. She represents the entire untamed naturality of the Gotou island, she is incorruptible hope. While everyone in the island appeared to be laid back and languid, she is the only one who is eccentric and unpredictable. When Handa arrives in the island, he is presented with the the two-faced persona: the out languidity of the island and the turbulent nature of the place that is seasoned dealing with nature’s unpredictability, in the tiny girl’s form.
Tumblr media
So how does Naru fall into Handa’s narrative aside from literally barging into his new abode? Naru is actually everything Handa wished he had as a child: unbridled freedom, lack of controlling parents, playful and capricious. Handa was incubated into a controlled environment and molded into the fundamentalist calligrapher. Naru literally appears in a blue t-shirt and shorts with a length of rope coiled at her waist. That’s a wonderful allusion to “Wonder Woman” that was about to enter Handa Sei’s life. At the later episode, when Handa’s mother opposes how the countryside has “corrupted” his son’s refined character, we can also understand how Naru’s influence was a sort of Feminist invasion in the rigid, conservative setup of Calligraphy world. Handa’ s mother who is a good calligrapher isn’t a professional like her husband or son, thus it further proves the point that the field is male heavy space.
At the first episode, when his fundamentalist style was challenged, he lashed out and was forced to retreat. And who he finds facing him face to face? It’s Naru. At first she makes him uncomfortable, anxious and irritated but soon Handa comes to term with the child. Naru in her essence is the other side of artistry that is impulsive, bold and uncontrolled, something which is outside Handa’s comfort zone. In several episodes, Naru is seen spilling ink, tripping on the bottles and smearing ink in clear spaces, like on the hull of the boat where Handa was asked to write by Miwa’s father. This is a great allusion of Art being an uncontrolled living breathing organism which isn't just there to please others with aesthetics; it stirs the souls and transforms. The sudden change in Handa's style, from "well behaved penmanship" to "fuzzy experimental brush strokes" are great example of Naru's influence over him. His words became simpler: "star", "feather", "utmost" "sea bream" and his style became totally eccentric. The last of “Barakamon” ‘s soundtrack is called “People learn from People” I think it actually alludes to Naru in the sense because she is the one who makes Handa face the limits of his art by challenging him physically and mentally.
Tumblr media
So how Naru is different from the Manic pixie dream girls of the other similar animes? Both Megumi Noda of Nodame Cantabile and Kaori from Your Lies In April felt like the male fantasy of the slumped, socially awkward hero. Megumi who is outwardly perverted and downright lewd in many places is the caricature of Shinichi Chiaki’s rather prudish behaviour; as a reconciliation both  end up as couples. Kaori in “Your Lie in April” is the textbook definition of “Manic Pixie Dream Girl” who is only there to motivate Kosuke Arima and disappear to the Death. Both of the women were musically prodigious and “muse-like” that brings the protagonist out of their roadblock. Both Megumi and Kaori play classical music which are not strictly dictated in the notations, and though it strikes Chiaki and Kosuke, they accept it as their path to sublimate. Naru is neither a prodigy in any artful sense, nor she is a sexual creature (or was seen with any romantic sense by the protagonist). Like any “Manic pixie dream girl” she makes the protagonist break out of his awkward shell through her eccentricity, but she does it with a perilous edge. Handa had to combat with all of his willpower to stand up to her antics in order to grow and mature. In this self-reliance boot-camp, all his previous identities, in the form of magazine articles, interviews and books gets torn out. The torn pages are then flown away as paper aeroplanes by Naru, as a symbolic gesture of “unlearning” in order to “learn” again.
Tumblr media
The Muse figures in the other two animes are the comforting image of perfection which heroes of both Nodame Cantabile and Your Lie in April are trying to reach. Shinichi's hurried and capricious playing of Mozart's piano duet "Allegro Con Spirito" and Kosuke's "Twinkle Twinkle 12 variations" are the attempts to touch the perfection of their respective muses. In both anime, Mozart plays a significant role in both animes in symbolizing the “perfect”, the “liberating” and the “sparkling”, something the hero must attain in the course of time. The theme of “reaching” in those animes are so apparent that “is my art/music reaching him/her?” is a quote which appears in almost every episode. Handa on the other hand never tries to "reach" Naru, who is the muse figure. In his struggle to find his “true self” she rather becomes the light of clarity through which he attempts breaks from his fundamentalist shell. In the end, Handa doesn’t become the paramount he had imagined he would; he gets rejected by the highly conformist industry which pushed him back because he was “too fundamental”: that sort of an anti-climatic ending to the Muse and Poet sort of narrative, and that’s where Naru’s significance lie. In art, there is nothing which is “perfect”, actually perfect is the enemy of good. In the end of Barakamon season 1, it is the “Good” that wins: Handa’s satisfaction with the calligraphy of the Doners’ names on wooden plank.
...
wow that’s a lot, now tags (although I have no evidence that they like Barakamon)

Fool For You: A Love Story in Four Acts
Pairing: Daveed Diggs x Black!Reader
Rating: T for language
Summary: Daveed and Reader used to date and haven’t spoken to each other since their ugly breakup. Years later, the two come across one another when you’re the artistic director for his photoshoot
Series Masterlist Part Two
Tumblr media
“Hey, sis, did you hear?” You looked up from your computer in your new office in LA, you were just hired as a Creative Director for Muse magazine, a new urban magazine. You went to FIT in New York to major in Exhibition Design. You worked at various magazines as a production director for their photoshoots. You got a good job in New York after graduating, you worked at Macy’s as part of their design team. Becoming tired of working at a store you applied to work for Musethey were looking for a Creative Director for their photoshoots. You were ecstatic, to say the least when you received the call that you got the job. The move from New York to LA was a huge change for you but after living here for about three weeks you were slowly becoming accustomed to your new life in California. Unlike your newly decorated office your apartment on the other hand, still harbored a few moving boxes, more than you would like.
“No, Tai, what’s up?” Tai was a senior editor for the magazine and during your orientation, you and Tai became fast friends. She let you stay with her before your place was ready, helped you moved in, and even showed you around LA.
“Girl, we just got Daveed Diggs for the cover of the magazine!” You went back to looking at your computer, hoping your new co-worker didn’t notice the look on your face.
“Oh, that’s cool. Do you know who’s handling the project?”
“Well, I’m doing the interview,” Tai bragged flipping her hair
“Yes, bitch! Who’s doing the shoot?”
Um, you, girl.”
“What?!” You said turning your chair around
“Chile, yes, they’re gonna announce it at lunch. I know all these bitches gonna be jealous that the new girl gets to do a cover story with Daveed and you get to go to the photo shoot.”
“Are they sure they wanted me to do it? I’m new here, I’m sure they’re other—”
“Bitch, this is a huge opportunity, not just for you but for the magazine. This type of interview doesn’t come often, you’re doing the piece. See you at lunch?” You nodded, sighing you went back to pictures from the last shoot you directed but you weren’t even focused on that anymore. Your thoughts were all over the place, you decided to finish later, it wasn’t due until Friday and you couldn’t finish it if you tried. The rest of the day went by increasingly slow. Your mind was occupied with thoughts of him and you haven’t thought about him in years.
“Hey, they’re about to make an announcement in e the board room.” A co-working said walking past your office. You tried to best to seem excited but deep down you were dreading this.
“Hello everyone,” The Editor in Chief, Shanita, started, “we have very exciting news this afternoon. We have Oscar-nominated actor, Daveed Diggs as the cover of our April issue.” The room let out excited gasps and people were immediately gushing over the actor.
“Our newest member of the team will be handling the shoot,” A light applause filled the room but you could see behind some of the phony smiles in the room. The rest of the day you were on autopilot, various co-workers congratulated you throughout the day some girls even commented on how lucky you were. Lucky is not the word you were looking for.
At the end of the workday, you quickly packed up your items hoping to leave before someone else mentioned the Daveed shoot. You were practically out the door when Tai called your name.
“We need to go over the photoshoot.”
“Okay, I need to put these clothes in my car.”
“It won’t take long, I have Daveed and his people on FaceTime.” You rolled your eyes huffing you walked back inside before you even reached Tai, you could see that Daveed was on the other end of the call with his manager.
“Hey, here’s the creative director of the shoot, I’m sure you’ve heard of Daveed Diggs,” Tai said excitedly
“Hello, Mr. Diggs it’s a pleasure to meet you.” You could tell by the expression on his face, Daveed was taken aback by your tone but he quickly regained his composure.
“Uh, nice to meet you too.”
“Hi, what angle were you going for, for this magazine cover?” Daveed’s manager asked hastily.
“Well, since the issue is about the Body, Health, and Fitness I thinking of a rustic industrial type shoot where he’s in a vintage gym or an Ancient Greek shoot where Daveed is representing different Olympic sports like jousting and shot put.
“I like the Ancient Greek one, how does that sound Diggs?”
“It’s cool.” He said with lackluster. You held back an eye-roll knowing he was trying to get under your skin acting nonchalant; something you hated when the two of you were together, with his Aquarius ass.
“Great, I’ll talk to Designers and we’ll be all set on Friday. See you there.”
“Talk later,” Tai ended the phone call and excitedly pulled you in for a hug.
“I’m so happy for you, this could be great for your career sis. I saw the way he was looking at you,” Tai tased wiggling her eyebrows you rolled your eyes
“Girl he was not looking at me, I have clothes to shop for, see you tomorrow.”
Tumblr media
Friday came quicker than you wanted it to, the blaring sound of your alarm clock awoke you, not that you were sleeping. Ever since you could remember you could never get a good night’s sleep if you had something important to do the next day. You looked at the time and saw it was 5:30 in the morning, you need to be at the shoot at least by 6:45, you hopped out of bed and started getting ready for your long day.
You were doing a great job at avoiding Daveed for the most part busying yourself with making sure the set was what you envisioned you talked to the photographer and the hair and makeup team. Everything seemed to be perfect until you saw Daveed walk on the set.
“What the hell is that? Why the fuck is he gold?” You asked, your voice filled with irritation. Daveed’s entire body had been painted in gold body paint and not just a little shimmer and shine, he was full-on covered in Gold, like an Oscar, a sexy Oscar.
“We thought you said the theme was Greek mythology?” A makeup artist said
“No, it’s Ancient Greek sports, he's supposed to be in oil. So now we’re gonna lose more time taking that shit off.”
“We’re sorry, we’ll change that right away.”
Daveed returned to the set with the correct make-up on you checked your watch you didn’t have much time to complete the shoot before the writer from the magazine came to conduct the interview.
“Alright, so first we're gonna do some shots without the props you’re gonna do some different action shots and then we’ll bring the props in.” You said not looking directly at Daveed not trusting yourself to not stare at his body.
“Sounds good,”
“Wait, he needs some more oil.” Someone shouted from makeup.
“Can you grab that bottle and put some more on his legs?” A makeup crew member asked
“Why can’t make-up do it?” You asked annoyed that your crew was prolonging this photoshoot
“Is there a problem?” Daveed questioned with a raised eyebrow, never being one to back down you sighed heavily.
“No, there isn’t,” You said grabbing the oil and sinking to lather Daveed’s legs. He looked down at you and snickered, now it was your turn to ask.
“Is there a problem, Mr. Diggs?”
“No, this just feels familiar doesn’t it?” You gaped at him and quickly stood back up.
“Codie will finish the rest for you.” The photoshoot was going well, in your opinion. Between, looking at a shirtless Daveed for the past half hour and Tai gawking over him like a schoolgirl, it could be worse.
“Can you come direct him, for this one? We’re having a hard time with the shot put.” The photographer called out, you sunk lower into your chair, hoping the floor would swallow you
“Uh, girl I think he’s asking you,” Tai whispered to you, you whined before sluggishly making your way to Daveed, a very sexy and shirtless Daveed—focus, that is not what you’re here for, wait, what did the photographer ask again
“Can you pose him? It’s coming off a bit awkward.”
“So, do you know to use a shot put?”
“Uh, yeah, I used to run track in college—-”
“Didn’t ask for your life story, just needed a yes or no. Anyway, get in the stance for it and angle your body this way so you can, um, so can you show off the muscles in your back,”
“Like this?” Daveed demonstrated and you couldn’t help but notice the way his muscles flexed.
“Uh, yeah like that.” You said quickly and you were off back to your seat.
“Alright, that’s a wrap!” You shouted having got the okay from the photographer, you stared at the countless images of Daveed, picking the ones you were going to use for the magazine.
“I think this one should be on the cover, send me all the pictures, these are great Neil.”
“Thanks, hon.”
“Hey, I’m about to do the interview, wanna meet up for drinks later?” Tai suggested
“Sure, just shoot me a text. Good luck with your interview,”
“Thanks, sis, see you later.”
You were just about to get in your car when you heard a familiar voice call your name, you contemplated not turning around, maybe he’ll think you didn’t hear him
“I know you heard me, don’t do me like that.” You turned and there he was, Daveed
“Hi,”
“That’s all you gonna say to me?”
“Well, I didn’t even get a goodbye when you left New York, so I think we’re even.” You faced your car again, only to turn back around
“Actually, we’re not even. You didn’t even fucking say goodbye, so fuck you, respectfully.” Now you were done, you got into your car and sped off.

Life is Beatiful*
AS FIRST PUBLISHED IN MUSE BY CLIO
It was my favorite kind of New York City day—cool enough to wear a sweater or light jacket and not sweat on the train platform. Crisp. Sunny. Perfect. It was all about to change…
I'd just started a job as group creative director for the U.S. branch of a global agency. Our biggest client was one that we'd had forever. I was excited to invigorate the creative part of that long-standing relationship. Little did I know that my first order of business would be crisis control. As I walked in, I was ushered into the big conference room. There sat the CCO, the president, the MD and a few other people.
"What's up?" I asked.
One of the people at the table slid a print proof to me.
Another said, "Chairman Lee (Chairman and owner of Samsung) is calling in 45 minutes."
I looked at the ad. I'd never seen it, since it had been created before I started. And there it was. In the headline. The word "Beautiful" had been spelled "Beatiful." It was an ad for the upper-echelon products. Chairman Lee’s favorite line (of course). The entire headline, that sat above at photo of a 75-inch flat screen read:
Tumblr media
Before I could speak, the managing director chimed in,
"Our creatives missed it. Our proofer missed it. The brand missed and approved it. And the two magazines it's running in missed it, too."
Wow. That's a typo that hit for the cycle, was all I could think … well, that and the consolation that there would be some sharing of responsibility.
"They can reprint the subscription issues, but there are thousands of magazines sitting on pallets waiting to be delivered to newsstands and stores."
I tried to soften the blow, as psychological mediation is my usual m.o. in such situations.
"It's just a page in the magazines, right? Not an insert?"
"One is the fucking back cover."
So, if someone put the magazine down, there was a 50/50 chance the world would see the mistake.
It could be worse. I thought. “At least it's just a gibberish misspelled word."
It was worse.
Someone turned on the wall-mounted 65-inch flat screen. On it, the Urban Dictionary's definition of beatiful: "A woman that a man deems worthy of visualization while masterbating." FML.
"The chairman is calling in 35 minutes."
"What are we going to do?" said the president.
And then, I had a moment.
Sidebar: I have moments of clarity in crisis situations. I'm actually pretty cool and calm in the shit. The consequence of this is that when it comes to some of the most trivial of things, I'm a friggin' horror show.
I looked at the ad again. And it just came to me.
For about 25 seconds, I hesitated, not sure if I wanted to lay my cards on the table.
I felt like I had a royal flush. What if it was merely an idea worthy of being flushed?
Then I just started rifling off questions:
"The magazines sitting on pallets—are they in plastic jackets?" I asked.
"Yes. We have 24 hours. The publishers said they'll do anything they can to help within reason."
I cleared my throat.
"All that's missing is you," I said.
"Me?" the president said.
"No. Beatiful. All that's missing is the letter u."
"I don't get it."
"A contest. 'All That's Missing Is U.' We'll get the client to give us $50,000 worth of merchandise, we'll put promotional stickers on the plastic jackets of the magazines and back it up with social posts and landing pages.
"I still don't get it." From someone in the room.
"Somewhere in this magazine is an advertisement missing the letter u. Find it, submit it, and if you're right, you'll be entered to win $25,000 of stuff.
"You think the magazines will do it?" the CCO asked.
"Are you kidding? They'll never have an issue more closely read. And imagine how much the other advertisers will love it," I answered.
I won over the room. Not because they believed. To some, this was all we had.
Ten minutes later, I was pitching the idea to the magazines. They were all in. One called it the best crisis solution he'd ever heard. I'll take that compliment from him; he sold a majority stake in his magazine three years later for $60 million, so he appears to know something.
Now, that phone call from the chairman. Despite my efforts to convince him otherwise, he could not get past the typo and couldn't reconcile the concept that the mistake could be deliberate for the purposes of a contest. He preferred to let the ad run as is. It's unfortunate, and I think an example of a non-creative unable to think creatively.
How then, is this failing upward?
Well, despite the drama, the big brand didn't fire us.
More important, both magazines became clients.
Today, in my office, are two copies of one of the magazines. If you look at the back covers, one features the typo, one doesn't. And though it's certainly a lesson in proofreading, it's also a reminder to me about being on my toes in any situation, crisis or not. Whether fostering and teaching juniors, working through a brief with planners, pitching new business, or talking with existing clients, I never hold back.
When people look for you to take the lead, don't hesitate. Take it.
Always be listening.
Always be thinking.
Always be ready.
And if an inspired idea forms, always be confident enough to voice it.

Having some trouble picking things your muse enjoys or likes to do? Well, here’s some ideas how! Look at what’s around you right now, and get ideas from that. For instance, next to me is a lamp. Maybe your muse could be interested in antique or kitschy lamps, or collect nightlights, or be interested in interior design. My TV is also nearby. Maybe your muse has a favorite show, or wants to write for television, or is on their school’s news team, or is good with electronic things. My plush unicorn is nearby me too. Maybe your muse collects plushes, or unicorn items, or loves fantasy, or loves equines. My knit hat is perched on the back of my chair as I type this. Maybe your muse knits, or has an interest in millinery, or likes fashion, or does outdoor sports in winter that require a hat. See how easy this is once you get going? Another way is to look at the lifestyle your muse has, as well as the lifestyle that they WANT to have. A girl who lives out in the country on her family’s farm might be all about chickens and livestock and doing outdoorsy farm things…or she might long for glamorous city life. A high society debutante might adore the fancy parties and rubbing shoulders with her upper crust peers…or she might romanticize the “common life” and want to be a part of that instead. Let’s examine those four girls. The country mouse that loves her lot in life might do a lot of 4H shows, keep a garden, go riding or hunting, take long walks through the fields and farmlands, breed her own chickens/dogs/rabbits/etc. She probably also has some sewing skills to keep her clothes in repair until the next time they can afford to buy new ones. The country mouse that longs for the city might also have sewing skills, but uses them to try to emulate the urban fashions from the chic magazines she hoards, loves watching shows and reading novels set in the big city, and is saving up to get away there herself. The debutante that loves her life is probably very fashion-conscious, keeps up to date with the latest people to be seen with and places to be seen at, and is probably a member of some kind of social clubs where she plays preppy sports like polo, tennis, and golf, as well as expensive ski trips in winter and yachting in the summer. The Rebellious Princess, however, might shun these activities and instead sneak out at night to go to the “wrong side of the tracks” and do things that she perceives as the height of bad behavior, such as dive bars, pool, crazy clubs, maybe even something as declasse as wrestling matches, rock concerts, and monster truck rallies! She’s probably fashion-conscious too, but in a different way; she wants to look like a BAD girl, in the latest biker boots and punk jewelry she made out of safety pins. Or she might not dare go out and play the part, but does have an interest in anything that speaks to her desires, be it music, movies, or books. Looking at what job your character has or wants to have can also give you some ideas about they enjoy. For instance, if someone wants to be a writer, it’s a safe bet they probably have a passion for reading, and from that you can choose what kinds of genres they enjoy, and get other interest from that. For instance, a fantasy reader might like other fantasy-related things such as Ren Faires or fantasy-based art or historical costuming. Or perhaps their interest in, say, learning Elvish comes with a passion for languages as well, or their interest in fictional dynasties suggests they might like studying real royalty too. Whereas a sci-fi reader might enjoy speculative biology about what alien species might exist, or building models of fictional spacecrafts. Someone who became a lawyer might have a strong interest in justice, so that might influence what kind of media they consume. Someone who is a wildlife biologist probably has an interest in animals in some way which can lead to various other hobbies as well as science. Other good ways to get ideas is to look at places such as AskReddit and search for topics like “What are your interests?” or browse Tumblrs and see what people are into, look at aesthetics and moodboards, and pick things from them that you feel suits your character. If you know your character’s zodiac or something similar, you could look up common interests of that sign/MBTI group/etc (though feel free of course to take interests more common to other signs/groups/etc!) As I said in the CHARACTER HOBBIES post, ignore stereotypes. I love fashion, and I love comic books, and I love getting dirty with animals. Some people think that if you like something “nerdy” like comics, you must have no sense of style and never go outside. These same people probably think that people who like fashion also sneer at “nerdy” things and shriek at the thought of fur getting on their fancy duds. Obviously, I prove this is not the case, and I’m not the Special Snowflake who is the sole exception to this rule either. For instance, at my high school, the star quarterback on the football team was also in drama club and was a TERRIFIC actor. So don’t feel that just because your muse likes a certain thing means they have to be a certain kind of person or can’t like other things. It is perfectly fine for your muse to enjoy both academic literature and gossip tabloids, classical music and the latest pop, French indie cinema and rubber sci-fi monster movies. Jocks can like art, preps can like poetry, goths can like things that AREN’T black. What social group your muse falls into (though they’re rarely that cut-and-dried in real life as media makes tem out) might help give you some hints about what they MAY be into (for instance, a Goth can like things that aren’t black, but they also probably like a lot of things that are, or else Goth probably wouldn’t appeal to them) but it shouldn’t become a box. Go with what fits your muse as an individual!
