Queen of Mean (Audrey x FemOc! Daughter of Killian Hook and Cruella De Ville)
She noticed Audrey was hurt. She saw how Audrey's face fell when Ben got on one knee to propose to Mal. She heard the harsh words her grandma said. Ava felt bad. She knew how Audrey felt. Mal literally took Ben away from Audrey. Her parents and grandma expected so much from her and Audrey truly loved Ben.
Ava knew how Mal took Ben. She honestly despised Mal and Audrey's family for causing her so much pain.
Ava walks to Audrey's room and knocks, "Come in." She heard from the other side of the door. Ava opens the door and walks into Audrey's room, "Wassup, Princess." She greets. Audrey just pulls her knees up to her chest. Ava sighs softly, "Hey. It's okay, Audrey." She says, calling the pink haired girl girl by her first name. Audrey looks at her with tearfilled eyes that broke her heart, "No it's not. Ben was my everything. But... But Mal had to take that away from me..." She cries out. Ava sits down on Audrey's bed and motions her to come here.
Audrey crawls over slowly making Ava's breath hitch. The blonde and black hair girl grips Audrey's waist making the girl straddle her, "It's gonna be okay, Princess. If anything, you still got me. No matter how much you hate me." Ava points out. Audrey buries her head into Ava's shoulder, "I don't hate you..." She whispers. Ava lets her hands rest on Audrey's butt making Audrey blush and softly giggle. Ava pulls the older girl impossibly close to her, "I want you to have something." She says in a gentle voice making Audrey visibly shudder. Ava takes her hook from her belt loop and pushes Audrey up a little so she can hand it to her, "I want you to have my hook. A lil token of our... Friendship." Ava mumbles.
Audrey bites her lip and places a soft peck on Ava's perfectly pink lips, "Thank you..." She says shyly. Ava grips Audrey's hips and pulls her into a deeper, more passionate kiss. The pink haired girl moans softly as Ava's tongue wrestled gently with hers. Ava felt Audrey wrap her arms around her neck as they broke the kiss, "You're an amazing kisser, Princess." Ava teases makimg Audrey blush hard, "You're not so bad yourself." She mumbles shyly while avoiding Ava's gaze. Ava smirks and kisses Audrey over and over again. The older girl let out needy whimpers during and between the kisses.
Now, Ava stood face to face with a different Audrey. Not the crying, sensitive girl she was with yesterday, "Ya know, if I wasn't supposed to find you right now, I'd have you screaming my name." Ava comments while eying Audrey up and down. Audrey smirks and walks seductively over to the shorter girl, "Really now? Mmm, I'd love to test that." She says in a low voice. Ava pins Audrey to a tree by her throat making her let out a needy moan, "Try me... Queen..." She mumbles against the villian's lips.
Audrey wraps her legs around Ava, " Ugh. You're making me so horny... Why aren't you stopping me?" She whimpers out. Ava grins, "I figured that I'd piss you off right now! Because I hear them coming." She says eviliy. Audrey growls as Ava walks away. Mal, Evie, Uma, Celia, Harry, Jay, and Carlos ran up behind Ava who put on a slightly determined look, "AUDREY STOP THIS!" Mal shouts angrily. The purpleish haired girl laughs an evil laugh, "Why should I? I love being... Evil." She responds. Ava nods, "Damn right." She mumbles which Audrey snaps her head over to Ava, "What was that?" She asks with a glare. Ava walks up to Audrey much to the other VKs yelling at her not to go, "Wouldn't you like to know, eh? You can't hurt me." Ava says standing face to face with Audrey. She bit her lip, "And why is that?" She snaps making the others flinch as Ava stood her ground, "Because you care for me too much." She says making the others freeze. Audrey huffs, "I..." She starts, but balls up fist. Suddenly, Audrey disappears, "That's what I thought." She says.
Mal roughly pulls Ava back, "Are you trying to get yourself killed?!" She asks harshly. Harry storms up to his sister, "YEA. Are ye' crazy?!" He asks. Ava shakes her head, "She won't hurt me." She says. Celia shakes her head, "How would you know?" She asks softly. Ava smiles, "Cuz I know. If she wanted to intentionally hurt me, she would've did it when I was all up in her face." She points out. Uma taps her chin, "Then, we have a plan..." She says making Ava's ears perk up a little.
~~~
Audrey storms into her secret hideout that only she and Ava know about and groans, "Why can't I hurt her?! Why is she my weakness...?" Audrey asks no one in particular. She wraps her arms around herself holding the staff close. What she didn't know was that someone was walking up behind her. The figure wraps their arms around her waist. Before she could cast some type of spell, she heard a familiar raspy voice, "I figured you'd be here." Ava says softly. Audrey loosens up a bit, "You here to take the staff and crown. Because if you are, I'll hurt you..." She threatens in a low voice. Ava cups Audrey's clothed area making her let out a shaky moan, "No you won't." Ava says while placing open mouth kisses on Audrey's shoulder. Audrey's breathing picks up as she felt Ava continue to kiss and suck on her shoulder, leaving hickeys in the most visible places, "St-Stop. Fuck you're leaving m-marks..." Audrey begs, grinding gently into Ava's hand.
Ava spins Audrey around. Her breath was uneven and her face was flushed. Ava picks Audrey up. Almost immediately, the older girl wraps her legs around Ava's waist, "You know... I'd follow you to the moon and back. I won't ever question your decisions unless they end up with you hurt. I don't want you hurt." She says while looking down. Audrey's face softens, "I know, baby." She says.
The 5th VK
The title is a work in progress. I’m down for any suggestions. Goodbye, I have to sleep now.
quick disclaimer, IDK and IDC how Hades ember works
Chapter 2 ->
~°~
Future king of Auradon was looking out of the window from where he was standing, while the royal tailor was taking his measurements. On the other side of the window was the isle.
The island of the lost and forgotten. Filled with villains and criminals who did terrible crimes. Yet, also, filled with children who had nothing to do with their parents crimes. Children who are being banished for no reason. That didn’t sit right with Ben. They were innocent.
“Head,” the tailor turned The prince’s head. The soon to be former King and Queen walked in the room, hand in hand.
“How is it possible your becoming king next month,” was the first thing his father said, “your only a baby.” He teased.
“He’s turning 16, dear.” His mother responded.
“Hey pops” Ben smiled.
“16? That’s far too young to be crowned king. I didn’t make a good decision until I was a least 42.” Said the king.
Belle looked offended, “Uh, you decided to marry me at 28.”
“it was either you or a teapot.” Belle gave her husband a look, “Kidding, I’m only kidding.”
“Mom, Dad,” Ben started to walk towards them. But Lumire stopped him, as he wasn’t finished. “I’ve chosen my first official proclamation.” He took a breath before continuing. “I’ve decided that the children on the isle of the lost be given a chance to live here in Auradon. Everytime I look out to the island, I feel like they’ve been abandoned.”
The king’s eyes widened. “The children of our sworn enemies? Living among us?” His mother was shocked as well, but didn’t look as alarmed as his father.
“We start out with a few at first,” Ben tried to reason with him, “only the ones who need our help the most. I’ve already chosen them.”
“Have you?” The king crossed his arms
“I gave you a second chance.” Said a Belle to her husband. She turned back to her son, “Who are their parents?”
“Cruella De Vil…Jafar…Evil Queen…” Ben started, “ Maleficent and Hades” He heard Lumire yelp beside him when he says the last two names.
“Maleficent! Hades! They’re the worst villains in the land!”
“Dad, just hear me out here!”
“I won’t hear of it. They are guilty of unspeakable crimes.”
“Dad, their children are innocent. Don’t you think they deserve a shot at a normal life? Dad?” Ben looks to his mom “Mom?”
Belle gave her husband a look that seemed like she was telling him to believe his son.
After a few moments, the king spoke again, “I suppose their children are innocent.”
“Well, well done. Shall we?”
Meanwhile on the isl. 5 villain kids had no idea that their lives would change forever.
They say I’m trouble
They say I’m bad
They say I’m evil
And that makes me glad
The leader of the group with purple hair, cream colored skin and a vicious smile finishes spraying the Silhouette of her mother with ‘LONG LIVE EVIL’ sprayed on. She looks at a brown skinned girl with neon blue hair leaning on the wall she just spray painted. The young fairy gestured for her to follow her with her signature smile.
A dirty no good
Down to the bone
Your worst nightmare
Can’t take me home
A tall, long haired Arabian was in a where house (?) scheming what was the next thing he’d be taking today. He stared at the Silhouette of his father’s genie form, wanting to make him proud.
**So I got some mischief **
In my blood
Can you blame me?
I never got no love
Another girl with blue hair was strutting down a table while others were eating without a care in the world. Everyone was yelling at her to get off of the table, while one boy caught her eye. She smiled at him and walked away.
They think I’m callous
A lowlife hood
I feel so useless
Misunderstood
The second youngest of five ducked out of someone’s window. He wore a smile as he took a man’s bandana and bit into a little girls apple. He tossed it back to her though, but she wouldn’t be finishing it.
Mirror, mirror on the wall
Who’s the baddest of them all?
Welcome to my wicked world
Wicked world
The three girls strutted down an alleyway while the three boys were on their own. Power and confidence screamed in every step they took. The purple haired stared straight ahead with confidence. The older blue haired girl had her hands on her hips with a smirk on her face. The younger demi goddess trailed a bit behind, radiating the most confidence.
The Arabian with a red beanie was doing parkour on the roofs above them. It was quite impressive when he did a backflip off or a pipe. The boy with the black and white color scheme was in a barracks disrupting everyone in a bed, as he bounced on each one waking them.
I’m rotten to the core
Rotten to the core
I’m rotten to the core
Who could ask for more?
I’m nothing like the kid next
Like the kid next door
I’m rotten to the…
I’m rotten to the…
I’m rotten to the core
They all met in the area where most citizens of the isl did their laundry. Throwing clean and dirty laundry in buckets, in faces, and on the floor. Grabbing pipes they found sometime along their journey of chaos, they began to bang them on anything that would make the most noise, laughing along the way.
Call me a schemer
Call me a freak
How can you say that?
I’m just unique
The young fairy was on her own around a small area. Spraying her First Initial on a tarp with purple spray paint, pulling it aside to reveal an innocent man taking a bath minding his own business, now feeling embarrassed that he was revealed to everyone.
What, me a traitor?
Ain’t got your back
Are we not friends?
What’s up with that?
The demigoddess was tagging along with the sticky fingered Arabian this time. The tall boy had taken a used teapot, pretending to serve tea to the two men. Then jumping over the table, taking the teapot with him. The younger with him had swiped the table cloth with her.
“Was that really necessary?” The older boy had asked as they spirited away.
“Was taking a rusty teapot necessary?” She sassed.
The boy smirked and shook his head, as they made their way to where they’d meet the other 3.
So I’m a misfit
So I’m a flirt
I broke your heart
I made you hurt
The young fashion designer found herself going through a stand where someone was selling scarves. As she took the scarf from (what she’s guessing) the seller he spun and made a strange sound with it. Went back into the hanging scarves, looking back at the man looking mystical. After, she made her way on where’d she’d meet the others.
The past is past
Forgive, forget
The truth is
You ain’t seen nothing yet
On the other side of the building where the other three were, the white haired boy was causing more chaos. Throwing and kicking produce from the table he was walking on. He tossed a basket on a lady’s head, and hitched a ride on a cart where a man was pushing some hay.
Mirror, mirror on the wall
Who’s the baddest of them all?
Welcome to my wicked world
Wicked world
I’m rotten to the core
Rotten to the core
I’m rotten to the core
Who could ask for more?
I’m nothing like the kid next
Like the kid next door
I’m rotten to the…
I’m rotten to the…
I’m rotten to the core
After an amazing dance number, the purple haired girl took a sucker from a little kid and held it up in triumph as as everyone laughed and cheered. But, everyone scattered as two knuckle heads showed up.
“Hi mom.” The purple haired girl in leather said to the knuckleheads.
Maleficent pushed the two aside, revealing herself, “Stealing candy Mal? I’m so disappointed.” The fake disappointment clear in her voice.
“It was from a baby.” Replied her daughter with a smile.
“That’s my nasty little girl.” Mal gave Maleficent the lollipop and she spit on it and put it under her arm.
“Ew.” The young demigoddess said from where she was.
“Give it back to the dreadful creature.”
“Mom… Why!?” Mal whined
“It’s the deets, Mal,” Maleficent started, “that make the difference between mean and truly evil.” She waved to the mother of the child who just had their sucker man handled. “When I was your age,”
“I was cursing entire kingdoms.” Mal recited with her mother. “You. Walk with me.” The two fairies walked away from the other four “See, I’m just, just trying to teach you the thing that really counts… how to be me.”
“I know that. And I’ll do better.”
“Oh, there’s news! I buried the lede,” Maleficent walked back to the other four and laughed, “You five have been chosen to go to a different school… in Auradon”
Evie screeches, Carlos and Jay tried to run, but the knuckleheads had somehow appeared behind them.
“Excuse me!?” Hailey exclaimed in disbelief. “I’m not going to a school filled with pretty, prissy, pink, princess
“And perfect princes.” Evie smiled. Mal gave her a look and she back tracked, “Ugh.”
“Yeah.” Mal agreed with the youngest of the 5. “Mom, I’m not going to some boarding school filled with snobs.”
“Yeah, and I don’t do uniforms. Unless It’s leather. You feel me?” Jay said with a cheeky smile.
“Do you even know any other fabric besides leather?” Hailey asked with a raised eyebrow.
“Of course I do.”
“Name one.”
“Vegan… leather-”
“Stop talking.”
Carlos walked up behind Mal, “I read somewhere that they allow dogs in Auradon.” He said with fear in his voice, “Mom said they’re rabid pack animals who eat boys who don’t behave!” Right then, jay snuck up behind him. Scaring him with a bark. Carlos jumped back and hit jays arm as Hailey giggled.
Mal made up her mind, “Yeah, mom we’re not going. forget it.”
That obviously displeased the older fairy, “Oh, you’re thinking small, pumpkin. It’s all about world domination. KNUCKLEHEADS” The knuckleheads followed her. With a singsong voice she said, “Mal…” Mal followed her, and the kids sans Hailey followed. She went the other way.
“Where are you going Hailey?” Maleficent said. It was evident that she didn’t want to deal with the young demigoddess right now.
“Back to my dad’s!” She yelled back, “there’s no way I’m going.”
“You’re dad’s at ours.” Maleficent said with a smirk.
Hailey stopped walking and ran a hand down her face. “Oh my hades!” She yelled and walked back to the others with an adorable, yet angry pout.
“Are you even able to say that when your father is Hades?” Asked Carlos.
“Don’t talk to me.” She speed walked ahead of them all.
Back at the tower, Maleficent was sitting on a throne-like chair explaining what the VKs would be doing in Auradon “You will go. You will find fairy godmother and you will bring back the magic wand. Easy.”
“What is in it for us?” Asked Mal.
“Matching thrones. Hers-and-hers crowns.”
“…Pretty sure she was talking about us.” Said Hailey with her arms crossed. She was sitting next to her father on the couch.
The woman on the throne ignored her and continued, “It’s all about you and me baby. Do you enjoy watching innocent people suffer?”
Mal scoffed. “Yeah. I mean, who doesn’t?”
“Well, then get me the wand and you and I can see all that and so much more. And with that wand and my scepter, I will be able to bend both good and evil to my will!”
“Our will.” The evil queen reminded her.
“Our will, our will.” Maleficent snaps, which gains Mal’s attention back to Maleficent, “And if you refuse, you’re grounded for the rest of your lives, missy.”
“Mom! That’s not fair. You can’t do that!”
A few seconds later, the mother and daughter were locked in a staring contest. Younger light green eyes challenging Experienced green eyes.
“Ugh. Fine.” Mal gave up.
“I always win.” Said Maleficent as she smiled.
“Evie!” The evil queen called her daughter over to her with a singsong voice. The evil-lett in training sat next to her mom. “you just find yourself a prince with a big castle,”
“And lots and lots of mirrors.” The two said together, as Evie laughs dreamily.
“No laughing! It causes wrinkles.” Evie stopped immediately.
“Why are we still here? Please don’t make me go.” Hailey begged her father.
Hades shrugged, “it’s a pretty smart plan. Get the wand, break the barrier, we go back and claim the underworld.”
“That sounds so boring.” Hailey rolled her eyes.
“You’d rather stay up here with these crazies?” Hades sassed back and Evil Queen Squawked.
“they’re not taking my Carlos, because I’d miss him too much.”
“Really,You mean it?” Carlos asked with a hopeful smile.
“Of course! Who would touch up my roots, fluff my fur, and scrape the bunions off my feet?” Cruella put her leg in her sons arms
“Yeah, maybe a new school wouldn’t be the worst thing.” Carlos Muttered under his breath, “maybe a new place to live as well.”
“Carlos,” Cruella said with (fake) care. “They have dogs there.”
Carlos immediately changed his mind at the mention of a dog. “Oh, no! I’m not going!”
“Ugh.” Maleficent face palmed.
“Jay isn’t going either.” Jafar piped up. “I need him to stock the shelves in my store.” Jafar pulled his son away from the others a bit. “What did you get?” The thief began to pull random items out of his jacket and sleeves. Jafar dropped it all when he pulled out certain something “Ooh. A lamp” Jafar tried rubbing it.
Hailey rolled her eyes and sighed, “this is pathetic.” She said as her father nodded along.
“…Dad,” Jays father grinned at him. “I already tried.”
Jafar dropped the lamp with a ‘bah’
Then, Evil Queen spoke, “Evie’s not going anywhere until we get rid of this unibrow.” Evie felt in between her eyebrows.
“What is wrong with you all?” Maleficent walked off of the small platform she was on, voice raising as she continued. “People used to cower at the mention of our names! For 20 years, I have searched for a way off this island. “For 20 years, they have robbed us from our revenge” she spoke with determination “… revenge on Snow White and her horrible little men.”
“Mm.” Evil Queen agreed.
“Revenge on Aladdin and his bloated genie!”
“When I get get-!” Jafar looked as if he was going to attack someone.
“Pops…” his son calmed him down.
The raging fairy looked to Cruella. “Revenge on every sneaky dalmatian that escaped your clutches.”
“Oh, but they didn’t get baby. They didn’t get the… They didn’t get the baby!” Cruella laughed Maniacally.
Hailey and her father, scratch that, everyone looked alarmed at the laugh.
Maleficent looked to the father and daughter next. “Revenge Hercules and-”
Hades stopped her, “I already said she’s going.”
“Against my will.” Hailey muttered under her breath.
“Right. And me!” She threw her arms out dramatically. “The evilest of them all,” She sat herself on Evil Queens lap and snatched the mirror out of her hand, gazing at herself. “will finally have my revenge on sleeping beauty and her relentless little prince. Villains!” She clapped her hands”
Yes’s and a what was what was replied back.
“Our day has come.” She smirked. “EQ, give her the mirror.”
“This is the famous magic mirror?” Evie asked in disbelief as she held the hand mirror.
“Yeah, well, it ain’t what it used to be, but then again, neither are we!” EQ and Maleficent giggled lowly. “It will help you find things.”
“Like a prince?” Evie smiled.
“Like my waistline.”
“Like a magic wand.” The fairy reminded her. “Hay, give her the ember.”
“I told you, don’t call me that.” The man in blue said.
“And I told you, I don’t care” Maleficent said back
Hades sighed and pulled out a blue stone. “Here.” Hades took her had opened her palm, throwing out the purple rock she had placed on a locket she somehow attached to her fingerless gloves.
“Come on.” Hailey whined, “I actually digged the purple.”
Hades put the ember in the locket instead. “This is my ember.”
“What’s it do?” His daughter asked?
“It basically amps up spells. It won’t go full power since you’re only half Hades, but it’ll still work.”
“Sounds boring.” Hailey rolled her eyes for what felt like the thousandth time today.
“Depending on how mad you are, either your eyes, hands, hair, or all will catch on fire.” Hades smirked, knowing his daughter.
Hailey smiled, “now you’re talking!”
Hades chuckled, “just don’t get it wet, or it’s game over.”
“Yeah sure, whatever.” Hailey said as she plotted in her head.
The woman in purple looked satisfied before remembering something, “My spell book. My book. I need my… that book. ah ha! The safe.” She walked up to the fridge and started hitting it. Apparently not seeing the lever. “Queen, help me! I never can figure this thing out.”
EQ sighed and got up. She opened it with a ‘voila’
Maleficent handed her daughter the spell book, and explained that it can only be used once they get to Auradon. Right then and there, a honk from outside was heard.
“Let’s get this party started.” Jay announced with a smirk.
Everyone dispersed. Almost, Each parent telling their child a little something: Jafar telling his son to trust himself, Evil Queen reminding her daughter she’s the fairest, Maleficent telling her daughter not to screw things up. Hades told his daughter if things screw up somehow, she should just get the wand and break the barrier.
The only VK not saying goodbye was Carlos, who was super giddy to finally be able to escape his mother’s grasps.
No one noticed when Jay stole the small crown off of the bumper of the limo.
Mal was the last to enter the Black limo, looking up at the balcony she just stood at. Her mother making an ‘I’m watching you’ gesture, Mal nodded in understanding.
After a few seconds all of the VKs noticed the wall of sweets. Evie tried to bite into some sweet crystal candy. Jay, Carlos, and Hailey began fighting to get the best sweets first.
This was going to be interesting.
“Hey Mal? Can I ask you a dumb question?” Ben asked as he walked me back to my dorm.
We were both still wet, catching odd glances from people who passed us by. But luckily, we weren’t dripping all over the school. Ben had put back on his regular clothes, so he looked almost normal, despite his hair. I, on the other hand, was a sad sight.
“Go ahead,” I replied nonchalantly.
“So, the other day I introduced Carlos to Dude, our campus dog and he was petrified. And I asked him why and he told me that Cruella had told him all this bad stuff about dogs and stuff… and I was just wondering if you knew why she had… told him that? Because, she’s not afraid of dogs…”
I shook my head. “No. It’s all part of her plan to have complete control over her little boy.”
Ben’s face scrunched together in confusion. “I don’t understand.”
“Cruella de Vil is the most manipulative person on the island. Fortunately, most of us don’t see it, but Carlos lives with her. If he’s scared of dogs, then she can use that as an excuse to make him do what she asks or… scare him away from coming to Auradon. Things like that,” I explained. “She has Carlos hanging off her every word. And every other word out of her mouth is a lie, so… he sometimes doesn’t understand things that we do.”
Ben bit down on his lip. “I’m sorry.”
“No one has it great on the island,” I responded. “Carlos is truly very lucky. Because his mom does love him. She does that because she’s messed up in the head and believes that that is the only way to guarantee that he’ll always stay with her. Always be her little boy.”
We stopped outside my door. I wanted to tell him more for some reason. I wanted to explain what life was like for a kid on the Isle. I wished that Ben could know our pain.
But… all that would do is make him feel guilty.
“Goodbye, Ben. I had a really great time today.”
His smile reappeared. “I did too.”
I opened my mouth to say something more, but behind me, the dorm room swung open and Evie sighed.
“There you are,” she huffed. “I was worried you had died or something. You two were out for so long. Hi Ben,” she added, with a smile. “We need you to- Why are you sopping wet?”
I gulped. “Uh… lake.”
She shook her head, obviously exasperated. “We’ll deal with that later. Come on.”
She linked onto my arm and pulled me in.
“Bye!” Ben was able to call out, before Evie closed the door on him.
Inside, Jay and Carlos were already lounging around on our furniture. Carlos had his laptop in front of him, like he often did nowadays, and Jay was laid out across my bed, staring up at the ceiling.
“How did it go? Are you okay?” Evie interrogated, pulling me away from the door.
“It went fine,” I said, suspicious of why they were all sitting around, waiting for me to get back.
“We were actually scared that Ben had murdered you on the side of the road,” Jay said, not showing any concern.
“This is Auradon. And Ben. Why on Earth would you think that he’d hurt me?”
“I knew you didn’t want to go,” Evie explained. “I thought that you’d get out of there the minute you had a chance. Now seriously, why are you wet?”
I cleared my throat. “I wasn’t kidding. Lake.”
She raised her eyebrows, then seemed to realize that I wasn’t going to elaborate on the further.
“Woah, M,” she started, startled. “You’re wearing his jacket… Did he, uh, see your back?”
The boys’ ears perked up when they heard Evie bring up the old injury.
I crossed my arms, hesitating. “Yeah, he did.”
Everyone shared a look between them. It made me feel as if I had messed up. I could feel their unease at the thought that Ben knew and I wasn’t sure how to feel about it either.
I groaned.
Evie was the one to pull them out of their thoughts, saying, “I think we should get you into some dry clothes. Boys, you can go.”
They moved sluggishly, as if one of them would come up with a way to remedy this situation any minute now, but no one had any suggestions. I watched them go past, when something came to mind.
“Oh, Carlos!” I said.
He tensed up, unsure of what I wanted. “Yeah?”
The fear in his eyes made me sad. On the Isle, all you could ever want was to look down on someone and see that they were afraid of you. Normally, I wouldn’t do that to my friends.
In Auradon though, we were always afraid. Most news was bad news. And I was different now. Carlos knew that.
“I just wanted to say… Sorry for snapping at you the other day. In the kitchen. I was… tense.”
He looked shell shocked. “Yeah… I mean, no it’s cool. I just… We’re all here for you, Mal.”
He didn’t wait around to see my reaction. He turned and followed Jay out the door and back to their dorm room.
~ ~ ~
“Children,” Fairy Godmother started, interrupting us from our classwork. “Excuse me. As you know, uh, this Thursday is family day here at Auradon Prep. And, because your parents can’t be here due to, uh… distance, we’ve arranged for a special treat.”
We shared a look between us. None of us were… disappointed that our parents couldn’t be there, but we were more than happy to take whatever surprise she had planned.
She approached the tv she had set up at the front of the classroom and pressed a button on the console.
I almost screamed the minute my mother popped up on the screen. Her face was directly in front of the camera, blocking the other parents from view. And she looked pissed.
“I don’t see anything!” she growled at the screen, slowly moving back into her seat.
“Kids,” Fairy Godmother prompted, noting that none of us had gotten up to look at the screen.
I didn’t move for a moment, staring at my mother with wide eyes.
I had been under this idea that my mom couldn’t reach me in Auradon, but I was a fool to think so. I could never escape my mother… not truly.
Evie put a hand on my upper arm, slowly guiding me out of my seat and up to the tv, with the boys.
“Can I please see a remote!” my mother screamed at the Evil Queen, aggressively pushing buttons. “Ugh. It’s broken.”
A second later, all their eyes widened, presumably because we popped up on the screen.
“Evie!” The Evil Queen cried, looking at her daughter. “It’s mommy!”
Evie waved at her mom.
“Who’s the old bat?” Cruella squinted, trying to get a better look.
My breath hitched when I saw our teacher’s face drop. “This is Fairy Godmother,” I explained.
“Still doing tricks with eggplants?” Maleficent jabbed.
“I turned a pumpkin into a beautiful carriage,” she defended.
All the villains started laughing. Before this could become an actual argument, I put my hand on her shoulder and said, “Thank you so much,” trying to prompt her to walk offscreen.
She did after a moment, leaving us alone to face our parents.
“Mal!” my mother screeched, finally getting in a good look at me.
Her voice made me jump. I tried to play it off, but I knew that she could tell something was off with me. All I could hope was that she assumed I was putting up a front while Fairy Godmother was around.
“I miss you!” she lied. “When will I ever get to see you again darling?”
I wanted to vomit in my mouth. “There’s this big Coronation coming up. I assume it will be after that,” I explained, trying my best to hint at her that we had a plan for getting the wand.
“When?” she questioned.
“Friday. 10 am.”
With every word, her voice lost its false excitement. “Are you sure I can’t see you before then?”
I sucked in my lips, nodding.
“Carlos!” his mother shouted. “Is that a dog?”
Carlos looked at all of us, Dude in his arms. I should have realized that this would be an issue. Dude never left his side these days.
“Mal!” My mother grabbed my attention once more. “I could really use you back here on the Isle with me. I’m counting you to help me with my summer plans.”
It was so fake. My mother was threatening me through a camera and for some reason, I wish she was here to do. Because it wouldn’t feel so fake. Because then I wouldn’t be so conflicted over what to do. Because when I was with her I never felt as scared as I did right now.
“I know, mom,” I said, breathily. I was losing oxygen.
Evie saw and sprung into action. She reached an arm around and smacked Jay, signalling to me. Jay caught on a second later, shutting off the tv, before our parents could notice that he was reaching for the button.
The minute the screen went black, she wrapped an arm around me and started to guide me out of the room.
“Evie, what are…?” I felt light-headed.
“Boys, grab our stuff!” she called back, pushing me straight past our desks.
“Mal? Evie? Where are you going?” Fairy Godmother questioned, but Jay was in her path before she could stop us.
“Thanks for the special treat,” he said, trying to make her feel better about the fact that the idea had truly been a trainwreck.
Evie just walked on, guiding me through hallways and back to our dorm room. I didn’t stop her. I couldn’t if I wanted to. I was just so startled.
I had stayed calm. Throughout most of the phone call, I had been fairly normal: telling my mom what she wanted to know and listening to her demands. But the minute she had become threatening, I lost it.
Evie shut the door behind us and automatically pulled me into a hug. I didn’t say anything, didn’t even hug her back.
“Breathe with me, okay? In… Out…”
She kept this up until the boys came back, walking in silently, backpacks in hand.
“Did you explain to Fairy Godmother what’s going on?” she questioned.
Carlos nodded, eyes fixed on my vacant expression. “We just said that Maleficent was threatening Mal. She didn’t ask why or how.”
“Are you okay Mal?” Jay asked.
I blinked a couple of times. “It’s like she’s suffocating me. Just by looking at her my whole body feels heavy… like I’m already dead, simply staring as she laughs and walks away from the carnage.”
“Mal, it’s okay,” Carlos started. “Your mom can’t get to you here-”
I scoffed. “You must not know my mother. I’ve been pretending that we could just stay here and live out our happy lives in Auradon, but my mother won’t give up that easy. Once she realizes that I failed, or gave up, or whatever sad thing happens, she’s going to find someone else to do the job for her. And the first thing she will do once she’s here is kill me. Or worse.”
No one responded. They didn’t need to. We all just let the weight of the task that had been dropped on us sink in.
OKAY so I finally got around to watching Descendants 3, I’m watching it right now and I have some stuff to say
opening music number? fuckin bitchin, we STAN whoever writes these villain songs. I do like the ones from the first two movies better, but it does show more of how the Isle of the Lost has changed since the first four went to Auradon (idk if that’s how it’s spelled don’t judge me)
SMEE HAS TWINS
I’ve only known facilier’s daughter for three and a half minutes but if anything happened to her i would kill everyone in this room and then myself
aight, so Hades is definitely going to play a big part in this movie, whether he’s a villain or a bad guy gone good. He’s gonna be important, and it’s a little random because he wasn’t even mentioned for the last two movies
THE P R O P O S A L. I’M CRYING Y’ALL. I LOVE THEM
Seeing Cameron being a goofball as Carlos makes me want to cry. I love him and I wish more than anything that he was still here.
anyway, sad stuff aside, Audrey is obviously going to be some sort of villain just based on her whole rant about the proposal. not the best choice for a villain, considering she wasn’t that memorable from the first movie and her motive is a little cliche, but whatever
ooooOOOOOHHHH SHE’S GOT A VILLAIN SONG
OH NO SHE’S HOT!! AUDREY KILL ME PLEASE!!!
Mal wanting to close the barrier for good is a little out of character in my opinion
Audrey showing up when she did is also a little random, not sure why that was necessary. She just turned Mal into an old lady and left????
The pacing of the whole movie is a little weird so far, but every movie seems like that to me at first and it seems better the second time I watch it so it could totally just be me
AUDREY SINGING HAPPY BIRTHDAY. OH GOD IM IN LOVE HER VOICE IS BEAUTIFUL
I CHANGED MY MIND I LOVE AUDREY AS A VILLAIN
and now Mal is back to normal?? what was the point of audrey cursing her in the first place?
the actor for Dr. Facilier could NOT be better!!! I love him, and I LOVE that he has an arcade kinda thing going on in the Isle. just,,,,, UGH he is incredible
OHHHHH IT’S THE PIRATE BOYS
k so we visiting Hades now and idk why theyre on this minecart/bike sorta thing? they could literally walk faster than that but you know what the sequence was cool so imma let it slide
HE SLEEPS TO FUCKING DOG SOUNDS I LOVE HADES
he’s wearing shades while he sleeps the absolute madlad
oh god he’s hotter up close
hOLD ON DID SHE JUST SAY D A D
WHAT THE FUCK HADES IS HER DAD
that sassy scarf flip?? im lov he
OHHHHHHH HE’S SINGING NOW
god this kind of song totally fits his aesthetic. All the songs are absolutely incredible so far and so is the choreography, just like the other two movies
THE TAMBOURINE. WHAT A FUCKIN DRAMA QUEEN, I LOVE HADES
he radiates chaotic bi energy i love this man
i LOVE audrey!! her motives may be cliche, sure, but she is incredible
PIRATE BOYS GOT OUT AND OH NO UMA’S PRETTY
uma and mal have such a good dynamic
“i can feel you lurking...” “good” could harry and jay get any gayer
ANOTHER SONG FUCK YEAH
I love Evie playing mediator between Mal and Uma, and the two of them working together in this fight scene??? NICE
Have I mentioned how much I love the choreography?
Evie making them do team bonding sksksksksksksk
is gil flirting with jay
jAY’S FLIRTING BACK
is gil asking him out???
i want harry to stab me with his hook
i would literally die for celia, she’s such a precious kid
okay so Mal wanting to close the barrier is more relevant now that Celia thinks they’re letting all the kids out of the Isle, I take back what I said earlier
OH EVIE’S SINGING, WHAT A DRAMA QUEEN I LOVE HER
god they are so cute together im crying
OHHHHH BEN’S A BEAST!!!!
im literally going to cry i love carlos and cameron
does ben just??? have a beard now??? is that permanent?? god i hope so it’s rly cute
I LOVE HARRY, HOLY FUCK, PLEASE DATE ME
harry radiates disaster bi energy and he’s sTILL FLIRTING WITH JAY, HE LITERALLY JUST CALLED HIM GORGEOUS I’M-
if they don’t end up together at the end i’m gonna RIOT
mal and uma?? working together??? i love them
BEN’S GOT LIDDLE FANGS HE’S SO CUTE
can i just take a moment to comment on harry’s eyeliner??? ugh he’s hot
i would die for chad
hey uhhhh have i mentioned how pretty jane is??? i love her so much
“mal promised to let all the kids off the isle” ohhhhh DRAMA
oH NO UMA IS SAD
SO IS HARRY
CELIA’S GONNA CRY NO
ok this is a good fucking scene, evie’s gonna cry and mal- oH GOD OH FUCK THEY’RE ALL STATUES
ohhhhhh a SONG
showing clips from all the movies show her character development is just,,,, UGH i LOVE it! it’s such a powerful moment for her and i love how she’s changed through the series
OH FIGHT SCENE
AUDREY’S GOT CELIA FUCK
UMA’S HELPING I’M IN LOVE
audrey does such a good evil laugh why was she not a villain sooner
audrey’s been defeated but there are still twenty minutes left??? what’s happening is audrey dead or sumn
i’m sorry but WHERE THE FUCK IS BEN’S BEARD. GIVE IT BACK TO HIM PLEASE IT’S CUTE
ngl i would be ok if uma and harry ended up together theyre kinda cute
again,,,,, i would die for celia
IT’S THE CHAOTIC BI HIMSELF
FUCKIN HADES BABEY!!!!!
“When you guys try to destroy the world, it’s an error in judgement. But when it’s one of us? Lock ‘em up, throw away the key. Right, Beast?” i,,,, love this man. seriously could hades possibly have been more perfect
hades growling at the beast is,,,, ngl kinda hot
god i love audrey, she was such a good villain, and her apology??? nice
THAT WAS SUCH A GOOD FATHER/DAUGHTER MOMENT, I LOVE HADES AND MAL AND OH NO SHE’S CRYING FUCK
“speech, oh fancy one!” i love jay so much
mal’s speech??? im crying, look at how much she’s grown
THEY’RE OPENING THE BARRIER!!!!
UMA’S HAPPY LIL TWIRL???? SHE’S BABEY!!!
it’s a bop!! fuck yeah!!!
the choreography of the last dance number is just?? phenomenal???
ok harry and audrey are gonna be a cute couple but can i just say right now that gil and jay are canonically together in my opinion and you can’t change my mind
that last shot of the four of them running across the bridge??? poetic cinema
IS CHINA ANNE MCCLAIN SINGING DIG A LITTLE DEEPER???? HOLY FUCK
this movie was such a good ending to the series, i loved how every character developed, the music and choreography was incredible, 11/10 would watch again
Even though a short stretch of glittering water separated each other, Auradon and the Isle were two very different places.
On the Isle, people were concerned with serving their own interests and amassing power to inflict as much pain possible. There was no time for friendships or nurturing in a place full of thievery, lies, and betrayal. Instead of running in picturesque fields and saying ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ like the kids in Auradon, they had to learn how to fend for themselves and stand their ground. They were villains, after all.
The parents had different ways of showing their children how to be evil, whether it be with magic or violence. Some of them were seen as burdens, while others were seen as another chance to succeed with their nefarious plans. Either way, the children of the Isle were faced with an extreme amount of pressure to live up to their parents legacy, even if it wasn’t what they wanted deep down.
Evie was one of the latter, the Evil Queen seeing her daughter as a way to live in a beautiful castle once again-- and someone who didn’t necessarily want to follow in her mother’s footsteps. Unlike the others her age, Evie learned how to get what she wanted a little differently. She wasn’t going to become queen with a spell or a duel to the death, but rather by stealing everyone’s hearts-- figuratively speaking, although the literal sense was not outlandish on the Isle.
According to her mother, the first way to do this was to be beautiful. It wasn’t a secret that the Evil Queen used to ask her mirror who was the fairest of all first thing in the morning during her reign. To her, beauty was power-- it both made one more confident and often made them able to bend a man’s will at a whim. This ideology that beauty was everything was instilled in Evie as she grew up.
It didn’t really take much for Evie to be considered gorgeous by the others on the Isle. Though there was no magic running through her veins, her beautiful bouncing blue curls and her plump pink lips hypnotized anyone who passed. Her brown eyes were the color of amber, and despite being surrounded by wickedness, she had a smile that rivaled the sun.
Still, Evie became obsessed with pouring over old Auradon magazines for makeup tips to make her cheeks rosy and her lips candy apple red. During the night she would sneak into her mother’s bedroom while she was sleeping and rummage through her vanity, finding makeup the Evil Queen barely used. She’d scurry back with her new possessions and apply the shadows and balms using her treasured mirror, only illuminated by the moonlight.
What she loved most was fashion, picking complementary colors and the perfect fabrics to fit her mood and sewing late into the evening. She loved wearing skirts and dresses, though the Isle didn’t provide many opportunities to be formal. Instead Evie figured out how to make her clothes practical yet cute, creating studded leather leggings to protect herself during fights or the unruly thorns surrounding cobbled pathways. She’d often find herself at Jafar’s shop perusing jewelry and metal trinkets to add to outfits, or trading random scraps with Dizzy at the salon. The velvet chokers and spiky rings she often wore were not only pretty, but could help pack a mean punch if need be.
Still, Evie would sketch the extravagant gowns and crowns she’d adorn once she was a queen, dreaming of the life she’d have when she grew older. Fashion was a way to express herself and accentuate her beauty, but it also gave her hope. She would have a chance to wear frilly ball gowns and tiaras made of pearls and roses. Evie would get to Auradon somehow.
The most important step to getting power however, was to marry a prince. At least, that’s what her mother said just about every single day. It was, in fact, how she became queen herself, marrying Snow White’s father.
With a prince, she could live in her very own castle (with a wing for her mother of course) and hold parties full of beautiful gowns, being admired by all. Evie would be able to be in Auradon, and have power over her life for once.
Others on the Isle found the royalty of Auradon idiotic and insufferable, but the Evil Queen painted a vision of joy and love for her daughter. Evie would later understand that her mother’s interpretation of joy and love was terrorizing her people and being obsessed with herself, but as a young girl, all Evie wanted was to find a prince to call her own.
There were princes on the Isle, but none of them had enough power or land for Evie to even consider marrying them. Besides, the point was to have control over Auradon, and the blue haired girl would just have to wait for that opportunity to arise instead of throwing it away on someone like Prince Hans’ son.
The Isle was a place where everything one did had to be for their own benefit, and Evie decided that a relationship with some guy wouldn’t do anything for her at all.
However, that didn’t stop her from making friends. Evie had become incredibly close with Mal, Jay, and Carlos-- some of the most formidable children on the island. They spent almost all of their free time together, exploring every inch of their prison and wreaking havoc on anyone who crossed them. If her mother asked who she was spending all her time with Evie would say it was for an alliance, that she was getting goods or money, but deep down she knew they were their own little family.
To escape the pressure from their parents, the four would spend time in an abandoned studio type apartment. Carlos had rigged it so that the fire escape leading into the building could only be opened by throwing rocks at a sign at the base of the stairs-- not that many would dare try to cross Mal. They made the space their own, Mal practicing her graffiti on the walls, which were now covered in their own faces and rebellion propaganda. Evie kept an old mannequin she found to work on her outfits, and Carlos could often be found fiddling with a gadget at the dining table while Jay sat beside him and sorted through the items he nicked that day.
Though Evie enjoyed living in Auradon much more than on the Isle, she often thought fondly on her memories from their hideout, and one in particular. She remembered the four of them laying across the old lumpy mattress, listening to a horrible pop CD that was thrown out by one of the Auradon residents. They poked fun at the nonsensical lyrics and mocked the squeaky voices-- it was all so innocent compared to life on the Isle. Mal was beside her, holding her hand steady as she doodled onto Evie’s palm whatever came to mind with black ink. The purpled haired girl hadn’t even asked if it was okay, but Evie wouldn’t have rejected her touch either way-- though she wasn’t expecting Mal to be so delicate and gentle. She had figured it was because Mal didn’t want to smear the swirling patterns of stars and thorn covered roses that covered her skin. The image of Mal biting her pink lips in concentration and smirking as the boys joked burned in Evie’s mind since that night.
For all the differences between Auradon and the Isle, the four friends still took the time to escape from it all and catch up. In fact, being in Auradon made them closer than ever. Being the only villain kids in a place full of kind-hearted souls made them rely each other for support.
It was Friday night, and Mal, Carlos, Jay, and Evie were sat around the circular table in the boys’ dorm room. After relaying the weird behaviors of Auradon kids they encountered that week, the four sat in a comfortable silence, enjoying each other’s company. They munched on the sickeningly sweet snacks Jay swiped from the kitchen as Carlos made improvements to their 3D printer. Evie was sketching a gown for her fashion line, and beside her Mal was scowling at a book of manners.
“This is ridiculous,” Mal scoffed and tossed the book onto the table, “Why do I have to study up on how to ‘sit like a lady’ for this stupid court meeting?”
Evie looked over to her best-friend, “So you don’t have outbursts like that. You have to make a good first impression.”
“Yeah, that’ll be super easy. I’m the daughter of Maleficent and I just broke up with the King three weeks ago,” Mal rolled her eyes.
Right, Evie had almost forgotten about that. A month after the cotillion, Mal and Ben decided it was best for them to break up and be just friends. Mal couldn’t handle all the pressure of being his girlfriend, and ever since they came back from the Isle something had changed. She felt horrible about it, but when Mal told her the news, Evie felt relieved. At first she thought it was because not just a prince, but a King was available, but truthfully she hadn’t thought about princes ever since the coronation.
“He didn’t seem that upset-- neither did you actually,” Carlos commented offhandedly, and looked up to see Mal’s green eyes scowling at him, “Or um… it was tragic. Truly tragic.”
Mal sighed, “It doesn’t matter either way, the court is gonna hate me even more than they already do.”
“So? Since when do you care what other people think?” Jay asked.
“I don’t,” she snapped, and looked over to Evie, her eyes softening, “But I have to represent the Isle. This is a chance for Auradon to help even more villain kids, and I can’t mess that up. Even if I despise curtsying.”
Evie smiled with pride, “Already sounding more and more like a diplomat.”
“Ugh, don’t call me that,” Mal groaned, snatching up the book again.
Jay cleared his throat, “Well, since you’re there, you can scope out the hotties of the court for us.”
Mal raised a brow at this request.
“The uh, princes for Evie and yourself and the princesses for Carlos and I of course,” Jay quickly clarified.
Evie forced herself to smile at this, despite how weird the idea of her actually being with a prince now felt.
Across from her, Carlos laughed lightly, and though the others didn’t seem to notice, Evie could tell it was forced. The locked eyes for a moment, a sense of understanding between them, before they looked away.
“Well sorry, you’ll have to set up your own royal dates. I don’t have time to play matchmaker,” Mal put her legs up on the table, her voice defensive, “Besides, Evie and I don’t need princes.”
The next morning, Evie was woken up from her beauty sleep by the sound of Mal groaning in frustration. She slowly opened her brown eyes, adjusting them to the sunlight streaming through the curtains before finding the other girl at their vanity.
“Stupid eyeliner,” Mal cursed under her breath, and Evie couldn’t help but smile.
“Having a little trouble?” she smirked, kicking off her blankets and standing up.
Mal whirled around, “Yeah, sorry E, I didn’t mean to wake you.”
“It’s fine,” Evie let out a small yawn, “You should’ve just let me do your makeup though. I am the expert after all.”
“You’re already doing a lot for me with all the clothes and listening to my ranting.”
“Please, I’m not gonna let my girl look bad at her first court meeting,” Evie pulled up a chair and with her hand turned Mal’s face to her own, “It would reflect poorly on me,” she quickly added.
Mal laughed and let Evie finish the rest of her makeup. She took the liquid liner from her hand and even though she just woke up, Evie put it on with precision. When Mal’s eyes were closed, she looked so beautiful and peaceful, like all of the stress building up inside her melted away at Evie’s touch.
That was just wishful thinking.
She applied highlighter to Mal’s nose, which promptly crinkled upon contact. Her face was all scrunched up and Evie could only think about how adorable she looked. God, she needed to pull herself together.
“All done,” Evie announced after she put lipstick on her, “Now get changed or you’ll be late.”
“That would be a shame,” Mal stood up, sarcasm dripping from her voice.
As Mal changed in the bathroom, Evie perused her closet to chose her outfit for the day. They didn’t have any classes as it was Saturday, and the tourney game wasn’t until tommorrow.  Other than studying for chemistry, she had nothing to do while Mal was gone.
Jay’s comment about princes from last night rang in her mind, and she felt a pang in her chest. ‘Prince’ didn’t feel right, but maybe that was because she hadn’t really been looking since they first arrived. She knew she didn’t need to be with someone-- she was smart and didn’t need to rely on a man. But, she wanted to be with someone, to share every experience with. Evie hated the weird feeling forming in her stomach, like her whole world was about to crumble. She quickly composed herself and decided to pick something extra cute to aide her in her search and lift her spirits.
“Zip me?” Mal asked, emerging from the bathroom and holding onto the front of her dress.
Evie nodded and walked behind her, fumbling for the zipper. She noticed the freckles dotting Mal’s back, like constellations or flecks of gold.
Once she did the zipper up, Mal twirled around, and revealed the indigo dress. It was fairly simple yet fancy, with various shades of sheer blue and purple covering the skirt, which ended just above her knees. Just above the sweetheart neckline, a chain pendant rested. It was perfect dress for her first court meeting, a blend of the Isle and Auradon.
Besides, Mal looked absolutely stunning in it.
The sound of Mal clearing her throat brought Evie back to reality, “Like what you see?”
Evie cheeks instantly burned up, “Just uh, admiring my handiwork.”
“So you like seeing me in your clothes?” Mal smirked.
She knew Mal was just being a smartass, but Evie was still flustered. Mostly because she did feel proud that her best friend was wearing something she made (and maybe because she dreamed about Mal wearing her silk pajamas once or twice).
“See, that’s the type of attitude that the court won’t like,” Evie chastised.
Mal slipped into her heels, “Hey, I promised not to start any fights or steal the silverware. There has to be some sort of compromise.”
Evie chuckled and rolled her eyes fondly, “Promise me you’ll play nice?”
“You’re no fun anymore,” Mal pouted playfully.
“Rude!” she gasped as she fixed the dress, making it look perfect, “Besides, I said don’t steal the silverware, not the food.”
Mal broke out into a grin, “I knew my girl is still in there.”
My girl. Evie’s heart soared.
“Well, like Dizzy said…”
“You can take the girl out of the Isle but not the Isle out of the girl,” they said in unison.
“I’d better get going so I can get some more of the Isle in Auradon. See you later?”
Evie nodded, “I expect you to return with cookies.”
“As you wish,” with a mocking curtsy, Mal headed out their room, leaving Evie alone with her thoughts.
And boy, were there a lot of things running through her mind this morning.
Maybe boy wasn’t the right word.
The one thing that Evie could not let go was how that morning would go if everything was different. She wanted to wake up next to Mal and cuddle into her instead of the purple haired girl being across the room. She wanted to trace her fingers across Mal’s freckles, memorizing where every single one was, like mapping out the cosmos. She wished that she could give Mal a kiss goodbye, give her more support for her tough day, to let her know that Evie was there for her.
Of course, Mal knew Evie would always be there. They were each other’s closest friends, some went as far to say they were almost sisters. Evie didn’t know what the feelings she was developing for Mal were, but she knew it was not sisters.
Evie repressed her thoughts, not wanting to deal with them. This was just her being overly empathetic towards the whole breakup situation right? It would be solved by a quick compliment from a dashing prince and Evie would be back to her boy crazy self-- sans the whole ‘throwing away her dignity’ thing.
Her plan wasn’t working. At all.
It wasn’t that she wasn’t getting any compliments or lingering stares from the princes at Auradon prep. Evie had worn one her favorite outfits, which included her trusted blue leather jacket. Her makeup was done to perfection, her brown eyes surrounded by blue eyeliner and mascara. As she wandered the halls looking for a prince to sweep her off her feet, Evie was showered with compliments from just about everyone.
She was the problem.
Normally any sense of validation from any guy made Evie fall in love instantly, but even the sweetest of compliments did nothing for her. Part of her wondered if it was because she used to place so much of her self-worth on the opinions of others, and didn’t let herself reach her full potential. She had held herself back to seem more appealing or to help boys like Chad.
Speaking of the son of Cinderella, he lived up to his father’s name when he saw her walking in the garden, laying the ‘charm’ on thick.
When she had first arrived everything he did left her giggly and flustered, but now his wink and cheesy pick up line just made Evie uncomfortable.
Auradon was supposed to help the children from the Isle learn to love, not take the ability away. Was there something wrong with her?
Eventually, Evie decided to give up on her mission, and headed to the dining hall for supper.
The room was lit up by candles and filled with people along with the scent of warm, sweet, fresh pumpkin pie. Booming laughter echoed off the wall, and among the noise, Evie heard her stomach rumble. She filled up her plate with the chicken roast and vegetables, snatching up a piece of the pie, and made her way to the back corner of the room where the four villian kids usually sat. As she approached, Jay and Carlos were surrounded by books and heaps of food, fighting with each other. Typical.
“How many times do I have to explain the difference between weight and mass?!” Carlos exclaimed, throwing his hands in the air.
Jay groaned, “Why do I have to learn this science anyways? It’s not useful to what I’m gonna be doing-- I’m not the genius out of the two of us.”
Evie didn’t miss the slight blush that covered the freckled boy’s cheeks, “Because, Jay, this is physics. You use it everyday when you’re playing tourney and climbing everywhere.”
“Yes, because I have time to do a physics equation while I’m running around” Jay rolled his eyes, eating a spoonful of mashed potatoes.
Carlos glared at the long haired boy before swatting at him and lunging. She never really understood their constant play fights, especially considering how… athletically challenged and tiny Carlos was in comparison to Jay.
Either way, Mal’s absence from the table was almost deafening to Evie, she wondered how she can miss someone even though she saw them only hours ago.
The latter placed Carlos into a headlock, “Wanna find the angle of my arms right now?”
“That’s geometry” he choked out.
“Boys, boys, play nice” Evie scolded as she pulled out a chair and sat with them.
They untangled themselves and Carlos fixed his jacket, “How’s it going?”
“Fine,” Evie answered, “do you know where Mal is?”
Carlos shook his head, “I heard she might still be at the court meeting.”
Evie sighed, pushing the food around on her plate. Part of her wanted to vent about her awful day, but she also didn’t want Mal to discover the way Evie had been thinking of her as of late.
“Wow, E,” Jay whistled as he took in her appearance, “Who’s the lucky boy you’re trying to impress?”
“No one. Can’t I dress for myself?” she snapped defensively. He was right, but for some reason his comment hit a nerve.
Jay put his hands up in surrender, “Of course. You just look pretty today, that’s all.”
“I always do,” Evie flipped her blue hair over her shoulder.
Jay smiled and mimicked the action with his own locks, eliciting an uproar of laughter from the three of them. The thief looked over at Carlos, a satisfied grin spreading across his face.
“Anyways,” Carlos said as once the laughter died down, “You coming to the game tomorrow? I need someone to talk to while I’m on the bench.”
“I am, but you are not going to be on the bench the whole game. Have more confidence!”
Jay nodded in agreement, chewing on some chicken and waving his fork around, “Besides I’m captain of the team, and I need someone to help me deal with Chad.”
“I don’t want to play just because you pity me,” Carlos responded.
“C’mon, you know it’s not like that C,” Jay reassured, “You’re amazing.”
Evie watched as the two shared a smile and felt a little better. She might be changing, or feel like something was wrong with her, but her friends were always there for her and each other. That would never change.
After eating and saying her farewells to Jay and Carlos, Evie made her way back to their dorm, ready to rest after the long day. Her thought were a mess, she just needed to take off her heels and enjoy a nice bubble bath. She could figure out everything another day.
Of course, the universe seemed to hate her (or love her, that was still up for debate), because as she opened the door she saw Mal reading on her bed. In Evie’s pajamas.
They were pearly white silk pajamas, one of her favorite sets. If it was anyone else, Evie would be screaming in anger, but she didn’t even trust herself to make any intelligible noises.
“Hey, E,” Mal greeted, her face falling as she saw Evie’s reaction, “Oh, sorry. I totally forgot to do laundry and I thought you wouldn’t mind. I can take it off if you want…”
Yes she totally would-- no. No she wouldn’t.
Evie took a deep breath, “No, I really don’t mind, we’re pretty much sisters anyways.”
Sisters. Why did she say that? And why did it sit so weirdly in her stomach?
After a moment of hesitation Mal smiled, “Good, because these are super nice,” she stroked the material of the pants.
Evie chuckled and set down her bag by her bed before going through her drawers and selecting her own sleepwear.
“Ya know, when you come home to the missus you’re supposed to ask how their day went,” Mal broke the silence, “At least that’s what Fairy Godmother says.”
“I didn’t realize we were an old married couple,” Evie joked.
“Oh, totally. Sharing clothes, bringing each other stolen cookies…” she lifted a bag of chocolate chip cookies, waving it around.
Evie smiled and sat beside her, “Aw, you did steal them for me… Wait, the court meeting! I totally forgot, I’ve had such a weird day.”
Instantly Mal frowned, talking Evie’s hand in her own, “Is everything okay E?”
How is she supposed to tell her best friend that she maybe sort of might not like guys and have a crush on her? That she feels trapped in her own body, and the only time she feels real, feels happy, is when she was with Mal.
“Everything’s fine,” she mustered, forcing the corners of her lips upward.
Unfortunately the purple haired girl didn’t believe that for a second, “Do I have to hurt someone? I have been waiting for an excuse.”
Well at least Mal was still herself. One of them had to keep themselves together.
“Seriously, it’s all good,” she grabbed one of the cookies and took a bite, letting the treat melt in her mouth, “So how was the court?”
Mal looked disappointed that she wasn’t going to tell her what was going on, but seemed to accept it, “Well, it was only mildly awkward being in the same room as Ben-- until Prince Phillip brought up a ‘conflict of interest’ due to our relationship and we had to explain our break up.”
She winced in sympathy, “Ouch. Was it weird seeing him? Do you miss him?”
“Miss him?” Mal scoffed, “Ben is great but… he’s too great. We fought all the time, neither of us were happy.”
“I thought he brought out the good in you? I mean, you’re over here trying to bring more kids from the Isle to Auradon. You don’t go from stealing candy out of a stroller to that in an instant,” Evie pointed out.
For a moment Mal looked lost in thought, like she was deciding what to say. Her mouth opened like a fish, not making a sound before she swallowed thickly, “That’s… Evie, I’m doing all of that for you, because it’s important for you. If I have the opportunity to make you smile, then I’m taking it. The fact that you can still do that, still care for others after being on the Isle? That’s what brings out the good in me. You’re the reason I’m trying to be a better person.”
Evie’s breath hitched, stunned into silence. Her heart was fluttering-- Mal was not the sort of person to even admit she was trying to change, let alone give her such an emotional reason why. The confession seemed to come out of nowhere, but the more Evie thought about it, the more sense it started to make. The small smiles Mal sent her when she gushed about how great it would be to have Dizzee to help with her fashion line, or the way she kept from lunging at people like Audrey when they were walking to class together.
And it was all for her.
A new feeling formed in Evie’s stomach, not exactly one of fear and isolation like she had felt earlier, it was something entirely different. It was intense, she felt like throwing up, smiling, and crying all at once. All of the sudden the weight and warmth of Mal’s hand in hers felt stronger, more apparent.
Love? She hadn’t ever experienced it before, but that’s the only word she could use to describe her rising heart rate.
Mal looked at her nervously, waiting for a response, but Evie couldn’t think of one. Instead her brown eyes examined the pale green ones watching her expectantly. Her sight flittered to Mal’s lips, which were soft and smooth, still stained by her lipstick. The overwhelming desire to touch them, to get closer to her, started to consume Evie as she inched closer and Mal did the same.
Mal’s hand started to move up Evie’s arm, leaving a trail of goosebumps on her skin; her own hand finding Mal’s waist and holding on.
They were only inches from one another when loud banging from the wooden door filled the room, startling the two of them and sending them far apart. Evie’s face was redder than her mother’s poison apples, and Mal turned to look out the window.
She clear her throat, flattening her skirt as she stood, “Yes?”
The door swung open to reveal Jane and Lonnie, who let themselves in. Evie let out a sigh. Of course.
“Sorry to disturb,” Lonnie started.
“But, we absolutely had to know how the court meeting went” Jane finished.
Lonnie nodded, “And we got super worried when you weren’t at dinner.”
“I was scared all my hard work and preparation wasn’t enough.”
Hard work? Evie was the one who made the dress and kept Mal from burning her etiquette book-- hell, she was the reason she was doing it all in the first place.
“No, it went great, thanks for checking in,” Mal said through a forced smile, a hint of anger in her tone.
“I heard you looked stunning, it’s on all the gossip sites,” Lonnie smiled.
“Yeah, well, that’s all ‘cause of Evie, she knows how to find the beauty in things.”
She smiled at the compliment, a wordless thank you exchanged between them.
“Good enough to win Ben back?” Jane winked.
“Why does everyone assume I want to be with him again?! That I want to be with a guy right now anyways?!” Mal snapped, causing the other girls to flinch, “The breakup was mutual. And besides, neither of us are a prize to be won!”
Jane put her hands up in surrender, “Sorry, it’s just… you two seemed so in love....”
“The whole reason we got together was a love potion Jane! We fought all of the time, we didn’t understand each other at all, no matter how hard we tried. Why do you Auradon kids always try to put me in this box and change who I am? That’s my decision-- none of you guys actually know me!”
Mal’s eyes began to turn luminescent green, her powerful magic building up as her anger did the same. Evie noticed her clenching and unclenching her tiny fists, trying not to explode in a rage.
“I think you guys should go,” Evie suggested, walking towards the door and opening it, “We’ll see you at the game tomorrow?”
Jane and Lonnie nodded quickly, apologizing as they rushed out.
Silence hung over the two girls as the dust settled and Mal attempted to calm down.
“Do you want to talk about it?” Evie didn’t specify whether ‘it’ was the freak out or their almost kiss, but either were okay with her.
A sigh came out of the lips Evie had been so close to touching, “No, I-- I just need sometime alone.”
Disappointed but not surprised, Evie picked up her clothes off of the bed, “Well, I’ll be in the bath and we can talk later if you’d like?”
Mal nodded timidly, “I need to go for a walk anyways.” With that she put on her slippers on and left the room.
Strange how you can be so passionate with someone for one moment and then be cold the next.
Evie pulled herself together and stripped off her clothes before drawing a bubble bath. Once it was done she lowered herself into the warm water, letting the calming scent of lavender fill her nose.
Why had she almost kissed Mal? Why did it feel so natural? The whole day she was trying to feel something for the countless princes on campus, but it was only when she was with one of the ladies of the court that her heart started to race.
It was impossible to deny now, Evie liked Mal as more than a friend, more than a sister. She wanted nothing more than to kiss all of the girl’s problems away, to melt under her touch.
But that was wrong. Evie was supposed to marry a nice prince and take over the Kingdom, fall in love and have a big wedding. Her mother didn’t want her to date someone who was supposed to be her enemy-- a competitor for power. If Mal even really wanted to be with her.
Salty tears mixed in with the bathwater, her body being shaken with sobs. She was broken.
Evie didn’t see Mal the next day until the tourney game, but the purple haired girl sent her a smile as she walking up the bleachers all the same.
The field was alive with excitement, the band was playing roaring upbeat music, and Jay was on the grass hyping his team up while going over their plays. She wanted to feel excited too, get swept up school pride, but the events of yesterday where weighing her down. Evidently, and unsurprisingly, Mal was pretending that nothing happened.
“Honestly, this game would be so much more interesting if they incorporated swords or spells,” Mal commented, popping some caramel apple popcorn in her mouth.
“Do you want Jay and Carlos to get hurt?”
Mal shrugged, “Builds character.”
The referee blew the whistle loudly, and the game was on, a blur of sweaty guys bumping into each other. And Evie felt no attraction.
Instead, she was focused on the girl beside her, the awkwardness between them. Would they ever talk about what happened? She can’t pretend like everything’s the same forever.
A mischievous smile spread across Mal’s face as Jay aggressively tackled one of the other players, and Evie’s stomach did somersaults.
The fondness did not last long however, as she grew more and more tired of actively not trying to break down in her seat. Evie made her way to the player’s bench, settling down in the spot next to Carlos.
“Still not playing?” Evie asked, offering him a piece of candy.
Carlos nodded, stuffing the chocolate into his mouth, “Yeah. I don’t really mind though, Jay’s kinda a madman today.”
As if on cue, Jafar’s son checked someone onto the ground, and the referee blew the whistle angrily.
“Is everything okay?”
“I dunno,” the freckled boy shrugged, “He was being super weird last night-- so was Mal.”
“Mal?” Evie’s curiosity was piqued.
“Mhm, she came over late last night, needing to talk to him. I didn’t hear any of it though, I figured I’d study in the library some instead… Is everything okay with her?”
“I-- it’s complicated. I don’t really know. Last night was… strange” Evie said lamely.
Carlos hummed in agreement, “I wanna be there for them, but it’s not like they're the only one’s going through some life altering crisis.”
He could’ve been talking about the transition from the Isle to Auradon, but Evie got the feeling it was something entirely different. That same one she picked up on the other night when the four of them were hanging out. Like Carlos was dealing with the same thing she was.
“Do you want to go on a walk together after the game?” she asked timidly, rubbing her hands together.
Carlos let out a sigh of relief, “Yes.”
After a successful game, albeit violent due to Jay’s state, the two met by the rose garden, which was relatively tranquil and abandoned. Most of the students were still on the field or heading to the dorms to celebrate.
“So, you said last night was strange?” Carlos asked, stuffing his hands in his pockets as they walked amongst the flowers.
Evie nodded, “Jane and Lonnie came over and… Mal kinda blew up about Ben.”
“Like regretting them splitting up?” he questioned, his tone dubious.
“No, that everyone keeps asking her if she does.”
After a moment Carlos spoke, “Did anything else happen?”
God, she hated how intuitive Carlos was, how he could easily tap into her emotions. The perks of being a boy genius she supposed.
“We had a moment. In a ‘we may or may not having been about to kiss before that whole thing happened’ kinda way," Evie rushed the words out, feeling like she was gonna throw up.
“Kiss? Do you like Mal that way?” he asked as he sat down on a stone bench.
“I don’t know. I don’t know how I’m feeling Carlos!” Evie sighed as she sat beside him, “It’s like, my whole entire life I’m told love is worthless unless I’m marrying a prince and getting a castle and… And now I feel like...”
“The one thing that made us normal, that seemed ‘good’, isn’t even a reality for us anymore,” he finished, his eyes downcast.
“So you’re… going through the same thing then?”
Carlos nodded, “I never really felt like I had the opportunity or reason to feel special or to love back on the Isle, but it’s different here. In Auradon they go on dates and kiss and comfort each other in tough times. And I guess when I started to imagine who I wanted to do that with, I kept thinking about Jay.”
“I think I just thought I liked boys because that’s what was expected of me. What I had to do to survive. God, we’re such messes,” Evie sighed.
“Maybe. Or maybe this is normal,” Carlos met eyes with her, “I’ve been doing some research. It’s what I do when I can’t understand something, find out everything I can about that subject. There’s this thing, it’s called being ‘gay’... When you only like the opposite gender. Lesbian, for girls specifically. But I um… I’m pretty sure I’m gay Evie.”
Evie smiled softly, “Me too C. Is it bad that I’m scared?”
“No, I am too. But we can get through this together.”
Carlos pulled her in for a tight hug, and they both began to tear up, a heavy weight lifted off of their shoulders.
“So, are you gonna go tell Mal?” he asked as they broke apart.
“I guess I should. I’m just worried she won’t feel the same way,” Evie admitted, playing nervously with the fabric on her skirt.
“E, please,” Carlos raised one of his bushy brows, “I’m pretty sure she’s been in love with you for a long time as well.”
Evie giggled, “And I’m pretty sure Jay feels the same.”
“Well, if this all goes horribly wrong the two of us can runaway and adopt new identities,” he half joked.
“Sounds very rational,” she nodded in agreement, “Tell me how it goes?”
“Of course.”
The two stood and hugged once again, before parting ways and heading off to do the scariest thing imaginable.
--------
“We need to talk.”
Mal looked up from her book, her eyebrow arching at Evie’s assertiveness. She kicked her feet off of the table before speaking, “About?”
“Can we not play coy for once Mal? This is serious,” Evie reprimanded.
“Okay, fine,” she was taken slightly aback, “I’m sorry for my outburst last night. I just hate that everyone assumes they know what I want.”
Evie moved closer, sitting on the table, “And what is it that you want?”
It was a loaded question, but they both understood the main implication behind it.
“I want you Evie, I’ve wanted to be with you since the Isle,” Mal confessed, moving to sit next to her, “But we weren’t even allowed to be friends, let alone girlfriends. Besides, all you do-- or did--- is obsess about boys and finding a prince. So, I thought Ben would be normal, safe. But all I could think about was you.”
Part of Evie wanted to kiss her senseless at the declaration, but the other became angry, “And now you’re just assuming you know what I want. Maybe I didn’t realize it until now but I feel the same way. I don’t want to marry the perfect prince-- that was all my mother. I want to be happy, and I’m happiest when I’m with you.”
For a moment, neither girl said or did anything, and Evie was seconds away from praying that she’d be struck by lightning.
“I know I usually just take what I want but… Can I kiss you?”
Evie smiled, joyful tears welling up in her eyes, “Yes.”
Mal’s warm hands cupped Evie’s face, stroking her blush covered cheeks, trying to take in every detail of her face, every crook and crevice. Her own hands rested on Mal’s thigh, as she studied the way the candlelight bounced off of her green eyes, the way her breathing caught and  changed.
It seemed like centuries, but it was merely seconds before Mal leaned in and brushed her lips against Evie’s, and she was pretty sure she understood what magic felt like now. Somehow she was both in utter bliss and hyper aware, alive with passion.
Evie pulled her closer and closer, so that they were like two puzzle pieces locking into place. She could feel Mal’s heart race through her own chest, the way it matched up to her own. Mal kissed her again, more deeply and urgently, biting at her lower lip; and Evie found her hands tangling into the purple tresses as the nape of the girl’s neck. Giving an experimental tug, Mal let out a hum of amusement in her mouth, sending shivers down her spine.
Between labored breaths, Mal kissed her chastely before pulling apart and resting her own forehead on Evie’s.
“Well, I understand how true love's kiss can bring someone back to the dead,” Mal quipped, smiling against Evie’s lips.
Evie giggled, “I don’t know why I like you so much.”
“We can figure that out together,” she replied smoothly, “Although it might have to do with how beautiful and funny I am.”
“Somehow you’re being more vain than me.”
Mal tucked a blue curl behind her ear, “You are the most beautiful girl I’ve ever laid eyes on Evie Grimhilde-- I don’t think you can even be vain.”
Evie grinned, kissing Mal once again before remembering her conversation with Carlos, “Oh no! I need to know if it went as well with Carlos and Jay.”
“Please, I’m sure it went fine,” Mal stood, reaching out a hand to help Evie up as well, “Besides, I just got you. I don’t feel like sharing for at least 24 hours,” she sent her a wink.
Evie blushed, flustered-- but ultimately happy. She could finally be who she truly was, and be with the person she wanted to be with most. Maybe it wasn’t what she had expected as a young girl, how she’d get to Auradon and be free. But being with Mal was so much better than anything she could’ve dreamed of.
Chapter two
Hey! You guys ready to see how Harrys dealing with his Dear Captain attentions being taking or how about what Gils been up to!?! Before I forget the beginning half before the two months marker is a progule telling Iridessa mother story. All mistakes are mine~~also I’ve never read the books so these are pure head cannon. ENJOY!!
Ashnah fought to stand as she watched Merryweather, Flora and Fauna flint into the room. Their wings bringing a low glow into the room allowing her to fully see the dark robes the others were wearing. The sound of heavy rain following in their wake as though the heavens knew what they planned.
“Ashnah…Dear, we know it’s hard to fully understand but some…” Flora trails off looking to Fairy Godmother. Her hands wringing around her wand.
“Are just born Evil. It’s something we need to accept…”
“If I held that same belief,” She whispers looking to Adam and Belle. Her vision wavering as she walks towards them. “ You would have never met!” At her tone her daughter beginnings to whimper. As she tries to soothe her cries she can feels her slipping from her arms she frantically tries to hold her closer…she may be tried but even in her most exhausted state she hadn’t wavered. “Change can happen it takes time and patience-”
“And a willingness to change.” Belle interjects. Taking her husband’s hand she walks forward stopping a few feet before her. “It’s not only us who fear these Villains and their children there are other kingdoms that need our protection and guidance….please Ashnah.”
Her world began to sway as the thunder rumbled from outside the room her daughter cries rising in volume. Dropping to her knees struggling to hold on to her cane, she sees what was bringing about this weakness.
An absorbing stone! They weren’t here to attempt to change her mind…. they were here to capture her. As her daughter opens her mouth to cry aloud. She can feel her own tears fall her heart twisting as she struggles against the encroaching darkness. I’m so sorry, My love…
Two months later If one were to ask anyone on the isle about Captain Hooks only son, Harry Hook, you’re bound to hear a variety of things… “He’s insane! I once saw him challenge a poster to a staring contest…and WON!”
OR
“He’s a flirt! Personal space isn’t a thing he fully understands…I kinda like it.”
OR even.
“He’s Uma lapdog! Comes scurrying anytime that little shrimp-UGH.”
But only one opinion matters to Dear Harry, his Captains…
“He’s my first mate…Are you gonna order or what!?!?”
So we find Harry sitting in Ursula’s fish shop watching his Dear Captain speak in hushed tones to the new girl…he watched as she allowed her to stand close and touch her, even allowing her to cook in the kitchen!
She rarely lets him go back there!
Jumping up with a growl he kicks his seat over. She’s only been here for two months! She hasn’t earned the right to touch Uma she’s barely earned the right to look at her.
Stalking towards Uma who was scanning one of Gils designs for the ship he doesn’t notice how fast the other crew members were scurrying out of his way. His eyes glued to his Captain… the firelight causing her skin to glitter, her hair seeming to shift between midnight blue and seafoam silver. As she looks up with a raised brow causing him to nearly stumble as she stared directly into his eye’s.
No One looks him in the eyes save for his sister and on the off chance he can warrant his attention…his father. When he finally grew curious enough to care as to why they’ve said because when they look too deeply they can feel themselves falling to madness and while that description made him giggle and was great fun for some time he grew bored of people avoiding his eyes…it didn’t stop him from tormenting but it wasn’t as fun…till he met Uma.
The one who doesn’t-no, won’t look away instead she’ll laughs or scoff. The one who knows the method to his madness, who knows how to rail him back from that edge…or fall over it with him. As he slides to her sides making a point to lean close.The new girl comes out of the kitchen carrying a large dish that smells strongly of spice. Gil rushes over with a wide grin trying to grab the dish. He watches as she sits it beside Uma shooing Gil’s hands away. Offering Uma the first bite…not just offering holding it out as though it was an Auradon delicacy.
Grabbing Uma’s arm he glares murderously at the new girl. He doesn’t care how useful Uma thinks this girl is! She was taking privileges with Uma that raised his hackles. Glaring he fails to notice that Uma’s mood has now moved past amused to…very…agitated. “Harry!” She shouts yanking her arm back. Looking first at the silent crowd that was eagerly watching the trio. She looks up into his eyes.“Let’s talk…”
As she leads him into the kitchen he can’t help but send the new girl a grin and a wave. Standing in the cramp kitchen Harry can’t help but stare as Uma pushes out the workers. Like a raging monsoon or perhaps a better description would be a tsunami she sweeps them out all waving arms and cutting glances, before turning to him. A chill goes down his spine as her eyes settle on his.
This was gonna be fun.
She leans against the countertop flicking her hair back with a huff. “What’s got you so deep in your feelings?” She asks staring him down.
He could answer honestly and say that he wants to hook the new girl within an inch of her life…but he’s still not sure how close they were. The safer bet would be to blame Mal or any of the other traitorous VKs.
“I saw that it was close to cotillion time again and couldn’t help but imagine you in one of Gil’s frocks.” He answers stalking closer he reaches out to touch her hair.pausing as she grabs his wrist her touch causing another chill to take him. Her touch almost felt like a burn as his attention went fully to it. He looked down into her face she was looking at him as though she could read his soul and…found the pieces he was hiding.
“Right…Iridessa-” She began letting go of his wrist . Pausing as he decides to come lean beside as though he couldn’t be away from her side for long. “is helping me figure out how we’re getting off the island. So I need you to be on your best behavior.”
“Why haven’t you brought me in on the deal?” He leans closer catching a whiff of her hair. The scent of sea salt and vanilla making his mouth water for a taste. Raking his hand through his hair he refocuses on her voice.
“When I’m sure that this plan can’t fail…trust me, I’ll let you know.”
“Wait-”
“Uh, who’s the captain,again?”She asks folding arms straightening her back to come to her full height….a few inches below his shoulder.
“You are.” He concedes with a smirk. A shiver going down his spine as she puts her hands on her hips.
“You are?”
“First mate.” He moves to stand before almost Kneeling to get in her line of site his breath leaving his lungs as her eyes settle on his with a smirk that can only be described as sweet.
“That’s right. Don’t worry I won’t leave you in the dark too long…just long enough to make sure this is legit.” She runs her fingers through his hair rising a sigh from him. “Let’s get back out there. Remember best behavior.”
As she walks away he takes a moment to catch his thoughts before they wander too far into x rated territory. Walking back into the dining hall he see’s Uma sitting next to the new girl….Iridessa. Quietly he moves to slide up to Uma’s side making sure that she sees him. Grabbing a bite off her plate he sees that Uma has a list written in what looked like a foreign script. It would help if he knew how to read…glancing over Uma’s head to see her smirking with a mischievous glint in her eyes as she touched Uma’s arm.
Uma had asked him to be on his best behavior….but she didn’t say anything about Gils.
// // //
Standing outside of the Villains villia for a good four hours wasn’t what Gil had in mind for his first off day in a long while. But Uma said if he watches for at least a day she’d let him rework the ship’s layout. Working on that would prove to be the most fun and stressful thing he’s ever done. Telling his father that he preferred sewing and creating things instead of fighting or destroying property almost paled in comparison…until he remembered how hard it was to explain that he wasn’t quitting Uma’s crew he just wasn’t focusing on the family business.
Anyway back to his duties Uma said that the Villains might say something that could be useful to them….how? Magic was useless unless you get out of the barrier and even then you’d need a magic item as powerful as Fairy Gods mother wand to bring down the barrier. Mal’s mom had a pretty powerful staff but she’s a lizard, now.
Groaning he reaches into his shirt pulling out the sack of snacks Iridessa gave him since he missed all the clam crisps. As he munched on the dried and spiced roots he sees Evil queen walking out with a bunch in hand along with her every present mirror. Cruelle followed behind yelling instructions to some poor fool who wished to fill the spot their children left.
Quietly….well as quiet as he can be follows the two listening as their conversation varies between old lady talk, ‘Remember when I had control over the entire north west border…Oh those were the times.’ and their desire to act like they weren’t using the five fingers discount. After what feels like hours Gil decides he’s had enough. He’ll just find some other way to rework the ship’s design. As he moves to leave Evil queen asks a question of Cruelle the stops him cold.
“What do you think happened to my magic mirror?” She inquires staring into a particularly shiniest pot.
“The same thing that happened to Maleficent’s spell book…that museum!”
“Oh I don’t know maybe my evie stills uses it…keeps a little bit of me with her…you know?”
“You just want the mirror back!!” Cruelle cackles.
“Yes! Can you blame me? Fits right in the palm of your hand. You can do a complete outfit check and find the nearest prince.”
They rest of their conversation dissolves into bickering but Gil was already gone. His excitement at hearing some kind of useful information makes him tear down the street and straight into Harry.
“What’s put a flame under your feet, Gilly?” He asks grinning widely as he grips the back of his shirt as he tries to walk away.
“Oh, it’s nothing…really! I just got to get to Uma… really fast.”
“Oh, well.” Harry sighed releasing his collar. “That I can understand….about what exactly.”
Taking a step back Gil eye’s the first mate with his usual exasperated expression. He wasn’t going like this…like at all.
“I would tell you, really, I would but Iridessa said that this is like a super secret mission so…” His stomach dropped as Harry’s face slowly took a frightening journey. His eyes squinting, his smile dropped a hard cough exiting his lungs before he folds in half with a crazed fit of laughter. Leaving Gil to wonder if he can make a break for it…
As he moves to slide past a hand lands on his shoulder the grip tight making him grimace. Slowly he turns back to the face that haunts his nightmares…his only seen it once when he and Uma had falling asleep together on the ship…it was cold and there was only one blanket! It wasn’t his fault!
“Gil,what am I?” Harry asks leaning forward staring intensely into his eyes. His mind began to race. What could he say that wouldn’t get him punched or pushed on his butt. He could say son of Hook but that’s a who not what…maybe a close friend but he might not agree with that. Oh, what about first mate to Uma, he might like that. “Gil!”
No time to pick! “You are Harry Hook, son of Captain Hook, close friend and first mate to Uma!?”
After a beat Harry raises a brow, tilting his head. “Right, First mate.” Letting go his shoulder. “As first mate I’m the one Uma comes to for advice and to bounce ideas off of. Which means?”
Not another question he didn’t have the brainpower for this! if he keeps this up he’ll forget what he supposed to tell Uma!
“I’ll find out about this mission she sent you on and…” Harry continues pausing to dust off his shoulder. “I’m sure she won’t be all too happy to hear that one of her crew was trying to go against her.”
His mind begins to race again would he be going against if he kept her order. But Iridessa was the one who told him to keep it a secret…but Uma agreed! Does that count?
“I’ll let you be on your way then…” Harry began offering a deep bow before his back.
“Wait!” Gil shouts his hand outstretched dropping it as Harry turned back with a wide grin. “You’re gonna find out anyway, right?” At Harry’s nod he continues. “Maleficent gave Mal a spell book and there’s a chance it’s in a museum or she has it.” He breathed watching as Harry’s face fell.
“That’s it!” He shouts Throwing his hands on the air before vigorously motion at him. “That was your mission!”
“Hey, I worked hard to get that. You stand outside for hours with only veggie snacks to eat! It’s not as much fun as you would think.” Gil says folding his arms in offense. Dragging his hand down his face he looks up at the sky. With a heavy sigh he reaches into his coat pulling out a small tightly wrapped gray box.
Holding it out he says, “Take this to the new girl.” As Gil takes the box he pulls him close staring into his eyes. “Don’t.Open.It.”
“Where are you going?” Taking the box he’s surprised by its wait. And by the fact that Harry never gets anyone but Uma a gift.
“To Do my duties as first mate.” He tosses over his shoulder as he picks up a rock tossing it in the air.
Shrugging Gil heads to the shop. He had the information and a gift to deliver. What she need the information for wasn’t that important to him. Uma rarely did anything to endanger them. She didn’t force them to join like other crews she just…knew what they wanted and gave it to them. She knew that he had no wish to join the family business so she gave him a way out. Whatever she was gonna do with this info probably won’t be used to hurt them…at least not if Uma wanted it.
