Disney doesn’t deserve them.
It’s so heartwarming and cute to see how excited and clearly passionate they are about the film despite it being 40 years out, honestly I think it’s true for the whole main cast. They just light up with excitement. They buy merch, talk and come to a lot of reunion, meetup, convention/fan event stuff and are just in good spirits. I feel so bad because despite the passion and the clear willingness to jump back on whatever’s thrown related to the franchise… Disney sort of. Lora/yori absent besides a short film, tron out of the way in the second movie and show canceled. If not for the fans third movie for them 😭

So this guy, right?
I love the new "retro" styled Tron figure I snagged from Lightcycle//Run for a lot of reasons, but one thing specifically cracks me up more than anything...
The original figure this one is modeled after from the 80's was designed with a cool see-through purple Tron who sat comfortably in his Lightcycle, as you can see here [pics taken from an ebay listing, not mine tho I WISHHHHHHHH]
But now, the new figure?.......
The cycle itself looks sharp as heck, but BUT they have a pretty different way for the character to settle in the cycle itself... so once you open it up, there's really only one way to get Tron in there & for the cycle to close up properly, which is like so........
Ah, yes, he does it so elegantly. Sitting booty DIRECTLY upright, like an I/O Tower to better communicate with his user, hell yeah, babeeeeeeeey!!!!!!!
Just look at that FORM!!
The PANACHE!!!!
Riding that vehicle like it was the only thing in life that mattered.
Oh, I just know it, Alan-one would be so proud♡♡♡

Sarah ( @mewtwowarrior) and I were looking at Green Team’s designs that were posted on the Disney Park’s blog when we realized... hey. Those guys look familiar! So we set out to figure out where each model used for Team Green comes from.
And oh my GOODNESS... does this rabbit hole go DEEP. Buckle up everyone, that picture is only the tip of the iceberg.
Keep on reading to learn how we determined where each model comes from. We made some crazy discoveries, one of which might be a small bit of lost media. LETS GO!
Programs 2 and 6 are using Gem’s model from Run/r. We determined this based on the presence of a seam below the breasts that isn’t present in the Siren model for Evolution (the fabric across their chest is a continuous piece w/ no seams from the collar bone to just below the navel)
The Siren model used in Tron Evolution; from the blog of designer Mario Baldi
We were unable to determine whether Programs 5 and 9 are using: Quorra’s model from Evolution, Quora’s Legacy model in Run/r, or the Female Program model from Run/r. In a similar vein, we were unable to tell if Programs 3 and 7 are using Clu’s model from Evolution or his Legacy model in Run/r because they are also seemingly identical.
Programs 5 and 9 have a line in the center of their outfits. This makes them very similar in appearance to the IO, Commandline, Bitstream, Upload and Bandwidth Tron skins in Fortnite. The Fortnite outfits do not match, though. Even more interestingly, on closer inspection, we realize Quorra’s model in Evolution, her Legacy model in Run/r, and the Female Program model in Run/r appear to have a divot that matches where this circuit is. Her Uprising model in Run/r does not appear to have this divot.
Programs 4 and 8 are using the new Rinzler model made for Lightcycle Run. Interestingly, this Rinzler design is extremely similar to his unique design in Run/r: it’s the only time Rinzler is shown with an extra line circuit on his lower abdomen and circuitry in his helmet along his jawline. This appears to be the same model of Rinzler used in Shanghai Disney’s Lightcycle Power Run which opened in 2016. Considering Tron Run/r was released in 2016, it’s likely the two were in development at the same time. This is a bit of evidence that they may have directly shared unique character designs - though who designed this Rinzler originally is uncertain.
Program 10 appears to be Anon’s model from Evolution, as opposed to the Male Program model from Run/r. The two game models are almost identical - except the Run/r Male Program has some extra circuitry on his shoes (particularly the heel) that are not present on Anon or Program 10’s models. While the Green Team has had some circuits added to their designs, none appear to have circuitry designs removed. Meaning, this is likely Anon :)
Programs 1, 11 and 12 are based off of different Sentry enemies from Evolution. They appear to have the portion of their faces exposed by their helmets filled in. Interestingly, Program 6 shares a helmet design with Program 11, including the filled in helmet, despite their body being Gem’s model.
Programs 2, 4, and 9 are wearing either wearing Run/r Rinzler or Quorra’s helmet.
Programs 8 and 10 are wearing Anon’s helmet.
Programs 3, 5, and 7 are wearing Clu’s helmet (Sarah thinks the helmet model might come from a Walmart Exclusive Tron Evolution preorder bonus multiplayer skin… But we’ve yet to find an image of it. If you have a picture, please send to myself or @mewtwowarrior!!!)
Program 12 is wearing what seems to be Movie Legacy Rinzler’s helmet.
... and I think that’s it! This took us a while to compile, and what started as a fun casual conversation spiraled into one of the most fun rabbit holes I’ve been down. We uncovered a cool direct link between 2016′s Run/r and the theme park rides, we found (???? is that the word to use??) that there might not be any surviving evidence of the preorder multiplayer bonuses from Tron Evolution, making that some possible lost Tron media (minor though it may be). And Sarah and I had a blast!!!
In the end, we’ve been able to identify pretty much every model that has made up these new characters. I want to thank Sarah again so emphatically, she really is what drove this forward. All of the Evolution screenshots used in this post are from her! :) And if she hadn’t suggested we check the Run/r models as well, this post would have ended with the simple infographic posted at the very top.
If you’ve made it this far, thank you for reading! If there’s any questions, comments or you think you’ve caught something we missed, please reach out and let us know!

This was a overlay in Anaheim from I believe 82’ until the end of the People movers run (when it turned into the disastrous Rocket rods- funnnily enough there was a Tron idea of racing cycles around tommorowland that wouldn’t went on this track. It was one of their initial ideas and potentially how we have lightcycle run today) . Aside from needing a serious oil job from all the squeaking, there is a charm to the OG people over, I’m also jealous it goes through star tours!
Now the Tron portion occurs midway during one of the tunnel portions of the ride. Automatically you can tell what budget their on, the voice isn’t very robotic (compare it today to the train at Disney world where a siren comes on in the tunnel before approaching Tron).
You get digitized in the same exact shot from the film, down to the dial up noise creating pretty stellar projections throughout the tunnel, the same beautiful shots of patterns and circuits. It goes into a lightcycle sequence racing and dodging around you— honestly it’s pretty great visually and I absolutely adore how perfect they have the sound?
“You have escaped Tron’s game grid for now Users,” I’m sobbing. Was he trying to run us down??? Hello?? This is especially funny because going into the tunnel it mentions master control and HE is the one mad/digitizing the guests. It’s the computer world of Tron but not his games.
Video
It’s not as cheesy as I thought it was going to be, in fact it’s a great little tribute/advertisement for the movie itself “wasn’t that cool? Go watch it!” Alongside how back in the day the parks had actual arcades within them too. All I’m saying is we still have a people mover at Disney world and a already existing Tron ride… it’d only be fitting… 80s projections and all.
I like how much influence this held on what ultimately became lightcycle run, now of course it’s set In the sequel but the idea dates back to the original. Both the digitization sequence and lightcycle race are pivotal to both films so it only makes sense they’d want a attraction on it.

Okay! Here are the 4 pics I got from Tron: Lightcycle Run.
Review: The shoot off was incredible and the way you were seated was very unique. IMO, this is a ride you definitely need to try at least once. After that, I would pick GOTG: Cosmic Rewind over this any day. That’s my opinion.
