Reminder that none of the scenarios are connected or exist within the same realities. (Also I kinda just threw some mythology to the wind and went with what I liked most- this one’s a little corny imo but j think it’s cute)

Scenario 2:

Danny was balancing up on the rickety dock, the deep green of his tail catching the sunset just right. With his broad chest bared and shoulder length hair pulled back into a singular loose braid, he was truly a sight.

It was a fairly secluded location, largely abandoned after a storm splintered and tore away at the decking many years ago. Pretty much perfect for meeting up with Sam, the pretty sailor boy who’d cut him loose from the netting he’d gotten caught in just months ago. The lonely siren never expected to become friends with someone like Sam. Someone whose kind spent many years hunting those like Danny, until the stories of his people became but a mere legend. A mere human boy.

He’d repaid Sam in a small sack of pearls, which Sam was reluctant to except. He agreed to take them under one condition, they could meet again soon. So they made arrangements. And then many more after that.

Sam now approached the siren, sitting on his right side. “I’ve been thinking about you.” Danny’s noticed how much Sam likes to get right to the point.

It still took Danny by surprise. “Why??” Is all Danny could sputter.

Sam let out a laugh.

“No no no!” Danny was quick to correct. “I just meant… Really?”

Sam had a subtle smile on his face. “Yeah I mean, these last few months of getting to meet up with you have been the most fun I’ve had in ages. Plus you’re a fucking Siren, which is like the coolest thing ever.” He assured Danny, nervously picking at the hem of his oversized white blouse.

“Oh.” Danny replied sheepishly. He didn’t know someone could think highly of him, considering what he was. It was nice to hear.

They sat in comfortable silence for a few minutes, admiring the setting sun.

Then Danny catches Sam observing the singular, blackened, blade like nail on his right pointer finger. The rest of his nails were noticeably well kept.

He knows Sam’s been curious about it for a while now, despite never vocalizing it. So Danny takes the initiative.

“They naturally grow long and sharp like this but i prefer them short and dull. I keep one long for prying and tearing into things though, like shells… or flesh.”

Sam blinks at him dumbly. “Well that’s totally not gonna keep me up at night.”

Danny chuckles. “Well if it’ll make you feel better, we can pretend I didn’t mean it.” A quiet pause, and Danny thinks he’s about to ruin the moment. “I prefer fish anyway.”

Sam knows he’s trying. Another beat of silence, then he thinks of just the thing to take the edge off.

“I brought you something.” Sam told him before pulling out a necklace from his pants pocket.

Danny’s jaw goes slack. “Are those-“

“The pearls you gave me when I totally saved your ass? Yup. Wait do you even have an ass?”

Danny ignored that last part. “You made this for me?” He asked softly.

“Well I had one of my brothers string ‘em up but yeah. Thought they’d look nice on you. Had to tell them it was for myself though so they wouldn’t get suspicious.”

“Thank you.” Is all Danny could offer, eyes tearing just a little.

Sam now came around behind Danny. “Wanna test my theory? See if they suit you as well as I’d hoped?” Danny took the hint and lifted his braid, Sam wrapping the pearls around his neck and hooking the clasp. He crawled back to Danny’s side.

Danny looked straight into his eyes, and Sam felt his breath hitch ever so slightly. “You look really beautiful.” He managed, absolutely in awe of the boy before him, golden skin bathed in dimming sunlight. His hand creeps slowly against the wooden planks, inching towards Danny’s. He gives him a look before opening his palm toward the sky, inviting Danny to join him. Danny gladly obliges.

He doesn’t mean to, but as he slides his hand into Sam’s, his pointed nail pricks into the padding below Sam’s thumb. A sizable gash forms, blood slowly trickling out.

Sam hisses, reflexively pulling his own hand into himself.

“Shit, I’m so sorry” Danny’s quick to apologize.

“It’s okay-“ Sam starts

“Here let me see it.” Danny grabs Sam’s hand, bringing it up to his mouth.

Sam startles a little, not scared, just taken aback really. “What are you doing?”

“Just trust me.” Danny offers. And so Sam does.

Gently laying his lips to Sam’s hand, he starts by licking the wound. He looks up to make eye contact with Sam, pretending not to notice the blush that found its way onto his cheeks. Danny secretly savored that moment. The blood clotted surprisingly quick, stopping the flow. Then Danny drew his claw against his own arm, thick dark drops forming.

“Holy fuck Danny, r-really I’m okay! You don’t have to get even or anything.” Sam protested, eyes wide.

Danny just held up his right hand and told Sam that it was okay. With that he dragged his thumb against the fluid from his arm and grabbed Sam’s hand once again. Sam held his breath as Danny spread his own blood over the wound and gave it a quick kiss. The kiss wasn’t necessary but neither one of them dared comment on the fact.

“Our DNA holds healing properties. Don’t worry about my arm, it’ll scar over within a few minutes.”

Sam caught himself starring at Danny’s lips, stained from the mix of their blood. “You got a little something” and Sam reached out to wipe what he could manage from the boys mouth.

Now Danny was the one starring. Feeling the intensity of moment he decided to distract himself with whatever he could.

“Oh look, your hand’s all scarred over.” A desperate observation on Danny’s part. Jeez why was he so awkward.

He turned his body to face the setting sun and glued his eyes to his tail, too terrified to look in Sam’s direction. Which is odd considering most of his humanly interactions before meeting Sam involved literal murder.

“Danny..” Sam reached out to grab Danny’s hand and waited for the siren to meet his eyes. Without breaking eye contact, Sam lifted the hand up to his own mouth to give it a sweet kiss.

July Wrap-Up

Hey y'all, it's been a while hasn't it? To be honest, I planned on posing a June Wrap-up + July TBR but by the time I got around to doing it, it was halfway through June and It felt wrong. This month I plan on doing better with posting now that I have settled into the rhythm of my life.

July was a great reading month for me. By the end of June I had caught up with my reading goal, and this month I've been consistently about 1 book ahead (BTW follow me on Goodreads!)

In total, I read 5 books this month, which isn't as many as other people but I am rather proud of the progress I made as well as the quality of the books I managed to read this month. The reads this month definitely lead up to an exciting August TBR. Without further ado, let's get into it.

To All The Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han

I read The Summer I Turned Pretty in the later weeks of June and while it certainly wasn't the greatest work of literature, it was a fun read. After scrolling through some reviews and watching videos about those who read romance/contemporary books more than I, I heard that this was the preferred Jenny Han book series. I have to say that I agree. While this book DEFINITELY read like an older YA romance novel, it was thoroughly entertaining. I think both Josh and Peter were thoroughly boring as love interests. They were just so regular. It was still entertaining to read and I had a fun time.

Where The Crawdads Sing By Delia Owens

After seeing the trailers for the movie that came out in Mid-July I thought to myself "Ah crap, now I have to read it." I remember when this book came out and my local library deemed it a book club read. I don't know about y'all's local library, but mine tends to pick not great reads for their book club. So needless to say, My expectations were kind of low but holy crap I absolutely love this book. Not only was the writing absolutely gorgeous, but I was actually rooting for Kya and the twist I did not see coming. I had theories about it and my theory could not have been farther from what actually happened. However, now I don't want to see the movie anymore because I don't think it will live up to how I feel about the book. It came full circle and I probably won't see the movie until it becomes available on Amazon prime or something.

Hot Under His Collar By Andie J. Christopher

I saw this while scrolling through my library and internally "This looks awful, it's going in the pile." I burned through this book in about 2 days and while it entertained me it was...not good. It was fun to read, the plot was entertaining and I don't think I've seen this kind of priest/church member romance in mainstream media (not including those odd Amish romances your mom reads) besides the show Fleabag. The characters didn't feel like they had a lot of chemistry but it ended up on my "trash in a good way" shelf on Goodreads because of how entertaining it was to me.

The Grace Year by Kim Ligget

I technically started reading this book in mid-June through the audiobook which I checked out through Libby but I returned It because I just wasn't listening to it enough. I ended up re-checking it out later in July and finally finishing it. My first comment on this book is that this isn't a great YA novel. There were very graphic descriptions of violence and gore. I am not complaining but I think that Kim Ligget would have made this an EXCELLENT adult novel. Beyond that, I'm not sure how I feel about this book. Tierney was kind of annoying to listen to (or maybe that was just the audiobook narrator) yet I still managed to root for her. I wish more of the social dynamics would have been explored and maybe some better explanations of the history of this society. The twist came out of nowhere and didn't make much sense and the ending left me guessing what happened (and not in a good way). I'm sure the author did that intentionally, but it just didn't work for me.

A Good Girl's Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson

Technically, I finished this book just as August 1st rolled into the year but I'm still counting it as a July read. I picked this up randomly and I guess that I need to do that with books more because I absolutely adored this book. I'm not usually a thriller reader and especially not a YA thriller reader. I absolutely loved Pippa and this book kept me entertained from start to finish. In other thrillers that I have read, the first 1/3 of the novel tends to provide background information and character development/info dumping. This novel added leads, new theories and it kept me intrigued in the story. I had a few theories thanks to the plethora of details the reader gets yet I couldn't have guessed the twists, yes plural. In the last 50 pages, there was this massive twist and I thought, oh that is kind of underwhelming but then another twist came right after practically slapping me in the face. Do you know that meme of Sheldon Cooper where he says "I don't need sleep, I need answers"? that was me for the last 100 pages of this book and I can't wait to read the rest of the series (although I'm not sure how it is a series).

I'm so glad that July was such a great reading month for me. After the reading month that was June, I am glad that I actually enjoyed (most) of the books that I read this month. August TBR coming later this week, originally planned to put it in this post but I'd like to go to bed. Thanks for sticking with me even though I didn't post for a month or so, you mean the world to me.

I have a question about ITS TK dynamics.

Some say it's scripted and some say it was genuine.

My question is did they patch their friendship within the 7day Vacation?

If something was wrong between their friendship then how come we saw them playing, singing kareoke, cuddling and having the talk in merely 7 days holiday time?

If you have drifted apart from someone, then the bonding scenes are merely for the camera?

And if they have not really drifted apart and maybe had a fight during that time, then ITS conversation is simply hyped up by both BH as well as fans?

I personally did not see any drifting apart in their dynamics in the old bangtan content. They were always as close, as touchy, as teasing as they were in the initial days. I see it even now and if there's TK conversation in its 2 then I would think it's for fanservice. Maybe BH doesn't hold their necks and give them scripts but if there's a drifting away "off camera" then BH does ask them to have friendly talk and address the issue without really telling the exact reason.

Nobody gives scripts to the members but the activities are planned up for the camera and maybe members themselves be sporty (most of the time).?

I kind of feel sorry for you anon, if you don't understand that in life there are different levels of friendship and social connections. That life isn't either all in or totally out. That there are close, intimate, friendships but there are also light, fun going, more casual friendships. That there are work friendships and those deep friendships that are there for life, where you can talk to that friend only once in a few months or even years, and it's as if you have never parted.

Life is like that anon.

These 7 young men have been together for close to 10 years now. For a big chunk out of that time they spent close to 24/7 together. Living together, working together, showering together, eating together, practicing together, playing together, sleeping together and so forth. They are all super close. And yet, within that setting there are those that are closer to others. And over the years those dynamics have also changed once in a while.

So you have super close and super super close, if you want.

JK loves and respects and is close to all of the members of the group. Within that setting he is clearly closer to the triple J's - JM, J-Hope and Jin. There was a time when Tae was one of those that JK was closer to, I would say pretty much until the dynamics between JK and JM changed, so I think that started to change around 2016.

I suggest you read my post about JK & Tae's talk.

So, if I wasn't clear until now I will say it another way:

When JK & Tae talk about fixing up their relationship ITS, it's not them going all "we don't talk anymore", because they do. They work together, they spend time together with the others. They still fool around, joke together, laugh together, hug each other, touch each other. What they are talking about is the deeper connection, the level of intimacy that they might have had in the past, has come down a notch or two. JK said it perfectly in his interview - that prior to their talk he had heart to heart conversations with every other member, apart from Tae, that Tae was easier to speak to before.

People change, they grow, and also grow apart. You see that even more so in childhood friendships. People grow and change. Interests change. At 17 you are not the same person you were at 14. At 20 you are not the same person you were at 17. It's called growing up, and people grow up differently, so at times even the best of friends they kind of drift apart. They can still be friends, but not as close as they were when they were younger.

Doesn't mean they don't talk. They just didn't talk about the deeper things.

Levels of friendship. That's what it was about.

Not friendship is over and we need to try and rebuild it, but friendship has changed and we want to try and get closer again, maybe.

Yet again, I hope anon that your measure of intimacy isn't only physical touch. That isn't life, sorry to disappoint. Yes, there is an element of physical touch in intimacy, but physical touch is not a measure of emotional intimacy.

Anon, you think that they are so ingenuine they would make up something just to what, entertain you? How does that entertain the fans, btw, because, for the life of me, I can't think of why scripting this talk was fanservice. What was the point? Oh, wait, I get it, it was yet again another notch in the conspiracy theory to hide the real gay couple in the band, TKK. How stupid of me not to see that.

So anon, you are free to think what you want to, but I can tell you that from your ask your view on life is very immature and shallow. Life doesn't work that way. It's not black and white, love or hate. There are shades of grey. As a matter of fact, most of life is lived within those shades of grey.

Thoughts/theory on episode 4

I rewatched the episode and wrote down some notes during it, and it made some of what happened a bit clearer. I’m not gonna give a full review on everything last like time, but focus more on the Andrew - David relationship and what the hell went on in A’s head. This is all super speculative and is just me having fun analysing everything and trying to find some humanity in A. So if you’re interested read under the line. Also if you wanna discuss something pls come talk to me!

So my theory is Andrew rly did love David (or some idea of him). This episode showed a rly vulnerable side of A, his insecurities about or fear of being left or of being alone. There were many moments that showed this but they were always short and in the middle of something else that was totally crazy. These are the moments I noticed, which made me think about A’s vulnerable and insecure side, his fear and his... inner conflict? (I still don’t know how to put words to all this forgive me lol)

“it’ll give you a chance to talk about me” - he’s been rly odd until now but this makes me think he’s jealous and insecure about his relationship (I don’t rly get if he’s dating any of them at this point but whatever). He’s asked D to marry him and got turned down, D later says it’s obvious he was in love w Jeff but J said he never wants to see him again and he doesn’t feel sorry for him anymore. So there’s a lot going on w these 3. And A is dealing w some unrequited love here.

the shower scene - A is suddenly a different person, a person who didn’t just kill his friend in front of D, who is taking care of him, and almost acts like a mother when he’s wrapping him in a blanket saying it’ll be ok (there are more moments like this later)

“were you going to leave me? you were going to leave me. [...] you were just going to walk the dog” - it’s like he has trouble interpreting other people’s actions and emotions. He gets so scared that he’s going to leave him, and then is so relieved that he was just going to walk the dog, like “oh of course, that’s a normal rational thing, he’s not actually leaving me, he still loves me”

D: “[...] you’ll be long gone” A: “on my own?” - again we see how uneasy he is w the thought of being left on his own

“you probably want to part ways when we get there but [...] we have no one else” - it’s like he understands what he’s done, but he’s so desperate and tried to convince him to stay w him despite knowing how unlikely it is

“I’m so glad you decided to come with me” - this is one of those moments where A is basically lying to himself to not deal w the reality, which is that he totally manipulated him to come, but he needs to say out loud that D chose to come

“I told you I could never hurt you” - I think in that moment he might’ve meant it but I’m rly not sure... I’m wondering at what point he truly knew he was gonna kill him. Was that planned from the start? Or was it rly at the very end?

“you should try to eat something” - another example of him trying to protect him, in a sort of motherly way, like he’s treating D like a child

the crying scene - ok this is a big one. I think the lyrics to the song are rly giving us a clue here. “Who’s gonna drive you home tonight [...] who’s gonna come around when you break?”. In this moment he’s realising he killed J (again, not sure what his relationship is yet) and that he may have just let D a possibility to escape, and that he suddenly has no one. With all the above things it’s clear to me that this is like his worst fear, being abandoned, and on top of that it’s completely his fault. So when D comes back he’s so relieved, he holds his hand sort of like “I’m never letting you go again” (?) (btw I’m speculating A LOT here but these are just my thoughts)

“you’re not wearing any shoes” - it’s creepy how he says it, especially in the circumstances here, but there’s also that protecting/taking care of him like a child. At least it feels a bit like that’s how A sees it himself, even though we know he’s far from a protective, caring person

when he’s pointing his gun at him - first it looks like he doesn’t want to kill him. Then he finally sees the reality “you don’t believe that”. And after D says the things he loves to hear the most (”you’re so smart, you’ll learn Spanish in no time”) he looks so vulnerable asking “we’ll be happy?” But again he’s faced w the reality, and D brings him back to reality when saying “this has to stop” (that line also made me think there’s more to it, not just what’s happened in this ep, but previously too. I guess we’ll know next week). And then you get the “why couldn’t you run away with me?” and “it could’ve been” (which creepily reminds me of the Lee murder). He rly desperately wanted this life he could never have. I feel like after he turns around and D runs, and then he turns around again and shoots, it’s like a switch has turned off in his head, and I feel like we see that a lot in the other murders. Where suddenly he’s not a person anymore, he’s just a ruthless killer.

lastly the cuddling the dead body... is he regretful? does he believe in his mind that there was no other way and he did love him but had to do this, so he just needs this moment to get closure? what is going on here??

after this we know he just goes into his car, drives to Chicago and starts the rest of his killing spree life. Crazy.
