Older than a lot of folks around here, I reckon. (Mid-thirties.)

Aquarius. I’m stubborn, rebellious, and quirky.

Clover green.

I don’t have one- I’ve never been superstitious in that capacity.

I have a cat who’s a bit of an asshole named Oliver, who I love to pieces. And three days from now, I’ll be picking up a puppy. It’ll be almost six months to the day I suddenly lost my Milo.

Yes, but being 35 and having been single for 5+ years, I’m scared I’m running out of time.

As someone who’s been married (and sadly, is divorced), I’ll be the first to tell you the venue isn’t nearly as important as people like to make you think it is. If I do it again, I’ll probably not do so in a church.

I’ve been there as a visitor many times, but as a patient, thankfully I’ve only ever been to the emergency room.

I think so, but then again, based on past experiences, I’m utterly terrible.

I can do the stereotypical Minnesota one, though a lot of us don’t talk that way. But I’m terrible at trying to imitate accents, so no.

I’ve been told by quite a few people I don’t sound like I’m from Minnesota. Make of that what you will. :)

Irish, by far. I love that accent so much.

I don’t have a favorite type, but I generally prefer those who aren’t judgmental, arrogant assholes.

Depends on the occasion- for more important things or when I want to go through all my steps, about an hour and fifteen minutes because I have long, thick hair. For class every day, about 15 minutes.

I seriously hope not, but I’m not the best judge of that.

Neither because I don’t like lollipops.

A boy named Davey (his name is David) when I was a kid. He’s a year younger than me and loved Batman, riding bikes, and wanted to be a Navy fighter pilot. He had these gorgeous blue eyes and almost black hair.

Three, but that will likely increase at some time.

I should hope so; I studied Spanish for almost a decade.

According to a typing test I just took: 83 words/minute.

LOL not fast. Right now, I’d be lucky to break 9:30/mile.

I recently developed an allergy to something, but I’m still trying to figure out what. I blame a trip to the state of Kansas.

They both still work, though I wish they would/could retire.

For the most part, yeah. I hated myself in my 20’s, but my 30’s have been so much better.

Lenovo CES 2019

Disclaimer: I attended Lenovo’s events at CES and CES proper as a guest of Lenovo. All opinions are my own.

This wasn’t my first time going to Las Vegas to help Lenovo promote their brand and represent their customer advocacy program, but it was still a singular experience. CES always is. I always feel like something of an interloper at these things, because I’m not a journalist, marketer, or employee of a tech company. I’m an independent/freelance author, game developer and illustrator.

I fall somewhere between fan and spectator, hobbyist and professional, depending on what booth I am in, or device I am checking out. I go mostly to support the brand that currently makes the tools of my craft, with hope they will continue. That’s what CES is for me, a measure of whether I hold on to what I’m using or update the contrivances of my workflow.

Bryan Custer was the handler assigned to curate the experience for the Lenovo INsiders in attendance. He is Lenovo’s Community Manager, handling the majority of replies from Lenovo’s Global social media channels. He’s a thoughtful guy, possessed of emotional intelligence uncommon in people. I can see why he was selected specifically for the task.

Jen Lawrence and Beto Sanro were the other two members of the customer advocacy program in attendance. Great folks! I learned so much from them while I was there, seeing how they handled digital marketing (they are experts and professionals), through the questions they asked, and observations they made. We also had a lot of fun!

Also in attendance, the inimitable Lenovo INsider, Dave Kennedy.

The first day saw us talking to various executives and getting a little time to try out new products.

Our first meeting with Dilip Bhatia (VP, Global Marketing, User & Customer Experience, PC & Smart Devices) was very illuminating. The last time I spoke with him (2016) he was talking about how Lenovo planned to connect with consumers to garner a sense of their sentiment for certain products and services. Since then, I often joke that it seems like Lenovo has my office bugged when they make certain product announcements.

In 2019, Lenovo is using big data to gather the analytics they need to make decisions about features and products. It shows, because I’ve seen very specific hardware, displays, and features, things I really wanted, show up in current products. It’s clear that Lenovo’s Dilip Bhatia is funneling good information back to product teams and designers.

Our second meeting, with Matt Bereda (VP of Global Marketing), started out with me making a lame joke that fell flat. It was a rough day, and I couldn’t seem to get my words straight through the conversation, but Matt patiently answered our questions and addressed our specific concerns gracefully.

Through the conversation I could tell that Matt Bereda genuinely believed Lenovo was providing value to people through their products. The sort of things that change workflows and lives. I got the impression that giving people information and communicating to the public about that value was priority number one.

I was sick at the press event, but I had to stay long enough to watch Matt Bereda’s full keynote. It was worth the extra discomfort just to see how he worked and interacted with the public. It feels less like he’s trying to convince you to buy something, and more like he’s just trying to give you good information to make an informed choice. It was a welcome departure from how one usually sees tech marketed.

There is every reason to believe Lenovo is going to continue being an attractive option for creative professionals crafting things for the web and for print. That said, I was nervous about the recent shift at Lenovo relative to design before I went to CES. Those concerned evaporated after meeting the VP of Design, Brian Leonard.

I asked a lot of questions about the rate of iteration between generations, prototyping for new devices, and how design influences the rise or demise of a brand. What shone through was that Lenovo intends to make things that are beautiful and functional, with the latter never suffering for the former. Then, I asked about the 3rd Generation Yoga Book, and whether we’d see a Ruby Red Yoga Book C930.

All things are possible. I have high hopes for that form factor.

Along that same thread, I was able to play with Lenovo’s Yoga A940 AIO for at least a half hour between two sessions. It’s a device with tremendous potential, waiting for some advances in NFC and for the price to come down on certain components. I’ll explain.

At first glance, it looked like the deck beneath the screen wirelessly charged the pen, keyboard, mouse, and had a spot to charge a smartphone as well. Lenovo’s Kevin Beck said he made a similar assumption, and Brian Leonard confirmed that such functionality had been a consideration. Because that sort of wireless charging isn’t cheap, it didn’t make it into the final product. Maybe in the Gen 2?

My wireless desk feels so close, and yet, miles away. That said, the inclusion of a content creation dial that can be attached to either side of the screen, for left and right handed folk, feels like a big deal. How big a deal? Huge.

If you know me, you know I dislike Windows 10. I’m pretty much all Ubuntu these days, but to use a Yoga Book Gen 1, or the new Yoga Book C930, I would tolerate Windows 10. Added to that list, definitely, is the Yoga A940 AIO as well. The hardware is so good, I would more than gladly use Windows 10 to have access to the features and form factor.

The Yoga Book C930 and Thinkvision P32u weren’t new products at CES, but it was the first time I was able to lay hands on them. The new Yoga Book is the ultimate companion device. Currently, I carry a stylus-equipped ReMarkable E Ink Tablet and my Ruby Red Gen 1.5 Yoga Book. The new Yoga Book C930 basically combines both of those devices in one tiny form factor, for the same money. Amazing.

How good is the Thinkvision P32u? There’s a picture of me hugging it on Twitter. Gods, the display and the features on that display are so (so) good.

Also, at Lenovo’s CES 2019 display was Lenovo’s AMOLED Yoga C730. Somehow, I walked right by it. Another INsider said the display was there, but understated. Still can’t believe I missed a chance to put my hands on one. It’s a big deal for folks that ink illustrations digitally. You haven’t really inked in Photoshop, GIMP, Mischief, or Krita until you’ve done it on an AMOLED display. The contrast ratio can’t be compared to anything else.

The second day saw as through product tours, with even more time to lay hands on displays and products.

Definitely, Lenovo is very conscious of the consumer’s desire for privacy. Every product seemed to have new privacy features, both in the hardware and the software. I saw a smart lock door handle for your home, a hardware switch for the microphone on their new smart alarm clock, and privacy software that detects people lurking behind you while working on your laptop. If you’re anxious about protecting your intellectual property and your privacy, Lenovo has a product to help you out.

There were the usual gimmicks, like a Formula 1 racing simulator, and cheesy eye-candy displays to draw people in, but there was also more substance to Lenovo’s CES offerings this year.

The Legion Gaming line has matured to the degree that even the pure Thinkpad crowd turned their heads slightly.Would I have bought a Legion Gaming rig at inception, no. Would I buy one of their new devices? Most assuredly. Would I buy a Thinkpad with the same cooling and IO set up at the 15” Y740? Anyone would.

We also had the chance to watch a Lenovo Unboxed video be produced. The INsiders in attendance got to be filmed giving their opinion about whether they favored the new X1 Carbon, or X1 Yoga. Gavin O’Hara threatened to have me draw on camera, but, fortunately, to the betterment of all, that did not happen, and none of the footage made it to the final video. Whew! ;-D

Day three had us on a Hoover Dam/Grand Canyon tour.

I spent a lot of time riding in the back of the Hummer on my Thinkpad X1 Extreme prepping posts and recording my observations and recollections. In that moment, I realized just how much Lenovo’s products had influenced my workflow. Sitting in my lap was a device I could pleasurably generate textual assets with, draw with a digitizer stylus on the screen, or play Fallout 76 with my spouse. Much of my work and play fit entirely in a backpack via a slim 15” form factor.

The tour was amazing, and so was the company. Bryan, Jen, and Beto are great to travel with.

As I write this, I’m reflecting on the time spent at CES. I got a chance to look at some of Lenovo’s competitors at CES because I was curious of what they were bringing to the table. I think if there’s anyone Lenovo should keep in their rear view, it’s probably Samsung. In the consumer (non-commercial) space, they make a pretty nice laptop, tablet, and phone.

Everyone else seems to lack a central design philosophy, or they haven’t iterated on those principles to the degree I think they’re keeping up. That isn’t to say Lenovo won’t have competition in 2019, because they definitely will. Communicating the value of their products is going to be important for folks that rely on them, and that’s why I continue to promote the brand.

Gamora sighs as she sits down at the dining table, relaxinginto her chair.

“Hm, was that an it’sso good to be done with this mission-sigh or an it feels insanely good to sit down right now because I’m incrediblyexhausted-sigh?” Peter asks, looking at her over his shoulder as he workson dinner.

“The latter.” She closes her eyes briefly. He grabs a cupand fills it with water for her, placing it on the table in front of her,prompting her to open her eyes.

“What’s got you so tired lately?” he inquires, returning tohis place by the stove. “Not that our job isn’t insanely demanding, becausesometimes I feel like I literallycan’t move, but nothing’s been too crazy lately. Are you feeling okay?”

“I’m fine,” she reassures him, sipping at the water.“Whatever this is, it’ll pass, soon enough.”

“Anything I can do to help?”

“Well,” she teases, “I could really use a foot rub rightnow.”

“Uh, you tryexplaining to the others why their food tastes like your feet.” He gives her a look, and she just ducks her head,trying (and failing) to hide a smile. “But I’ll see what I can do afterdinner.”

“Thanks.”

Despite her words to him, Gamora’s not really sure what’s up with her lately, because theexhaustion she’s felt the past few days is dangerously close to rivaling whatshe felt when saving the entire galaxy—againstRonan, Ego, and Thanos, namely—with the team in the past. She hopes more thanactually knows the feelings will pass, because it’s making her already tedious,busy life that much more complicated to keep up with.

She doesn’t even notice she’s nodding off in the chairbefore Rocket’s voice suddenly greets her.

“There you are, Gamora,” he’s saying, walking into thekitchen with his latest project.

“Huh?” She blinks quickly, trying to wake herself up beforeeither Rocket or Peter can notice. “What do you need, Rocket?”

“Oh, nothin’,” he says casually, sitting across the tablefrom her. He sets his tools and work-in-progress down to continue histinkering. “I just wanted t’see how you were doin’, since you seemed kindaoutta’it earlier.”

“Are you sure you’re not sick?” Peter inquires from thestove.

“I’m sure,” Gamora says. “Even if I am, it’s just minor.Nothing to worry about.”

“Hm.” Rocket studies her for a moment before returning tohis work. “If ya say so.”

Rocket’s a curious character. He’d started out as somewhatof a professional asshole when they saved the galaxy the first time around,then, while maintaining his asshole-ness, developed into a more open,dependable teammate and friend. Gamora’s only direct qualm with him had been becauseof his decision to forcefully prevent her from going after Peter on Ego’splanet, but now, years later, they’ve moved so, so far past that.

(And, yeah, Gamora may still not agree with his decision,but it’s a miniscule anger in comparison to her overall close friendship withhim.)

Anyway, Rocket’s been acting strangely lately, as herhealth’s been acting up. She feels as if she’s suddenly spending more time withhim—not that she’s against that, she enjoys Rocket’s company—than usual. EvenPeter’s noticed, pointing out how Rocket’s occasionally directly followed her, around the ship, on amission, wherever.

Whatever it is, she doesn’t think much of it.

“What are you working on?” she asks after watching Rocketwork in silence for a minute or two.

“New baby monitors, or whatever-the-hell, for you’s’two,” heanswers, not even looking up. “Quill’s idea.”

“I just want to make sure we have the best surveillancepossible when Mer goes down for a nap or to play by herself or whatever,” Peterexplains, looking at them. “She’s a toddler, and toddlers are trouble.”

“Terrans,” Rocket grumbles, gesturing vaguely to the airbeside him.

“Zen-Whoberi-Terrans,”Peter corrects proudly.

“Whatever.”

They sit in a comfortable silence once again, only thesounds of Peter’s cooking and Rocket’s tinkering filling the air. Gamora findsherself struggling to stay awake again, her eyes slipping closed and headtilting slightly to the side.

A few blissful minutes pass before Rocket announces thecompletion of his project and leaves the room.

By then, Gamora’s given into her exhaustion, crossing herarms on the table and resting her head against them, ready for a quick napbefore—

Quiet, tiny footsteps fill her ears all too quickly,followed by Mer calling out to her parents from the doorway.

“Hi, Daddy!” Mer scampers over to Peter first, hugging hislegs.

“Hey, Mer-bear, be careful, the stove is hot.”

Gamora just barely manages to pull herself together in timefor Mer abandoning Peter and approaching her, holding her arms up toward her.“Hi, Mommy!”

“Hi,” Gamora mumbles sleepily, exhaling softly as she pullsMer up into her arms, setting her on her lap. She presses a kiss to Mer’s head.“How was your nap?”

“Good,” she answers, wrapping her arms around Gamora’s neckand resting her head against her chest. “Dinner?”

“Soon, kiddo,” Peter answers, turning off the stove. Heturns to Gamora and Mer at the table. “Be gentle with Mommy, she’s tired.”

“Why?”

“I’ve been busy,” Gamora says with a shrug, laying a hand onMer’s back. “But it’s okay, I’ll be better soon.”

Peter approaches them then. “Here, sit with me, Mer.”

Mer, as easygoing as ever, releases Gamora and turns herarms up to Peter. He picks her up, then sits in the chair beside Gamora’s,settling Mer on his lap. Wrapping his arms around her, he hugs her closely tohim, prompting a giggle from her.

“Rocket’s still acting funny,” he comments, letting Mer playwith his fingers. “Did you do something to make him really like you all of asudden?”

Gamora shakes her head. “No, I’m not sure what prompted it,honestly. He’s just been more interested in whatever I’m doing lately, Iguess.”

Peter laughs a little then. “His behavior kinda reminds meof when you were—“

He cuts himself off with a look of bewilderment, staring ather with wide eyes.

She stares back, unimpressed. “When I was…?”

“The fatigue!”

“What?”

“Your fatigue lately, how you’re just randomly tired for noreason,” he says, gesturing to her. “And Rocket’s acting super…super protective of you! It all makes sense!”

“Peter, what—“

He quickly covers Mer’s ears, whispering harshly, “I thinkyou might be pregnant!”

Now it’s her turn to widen her eyes, her mouth hanging openas she comprehends his words. After several moments of stunned silence, shemanages a “What?”

(Because, as much as she’s too shocked and confused tooutright admit it, Peter’s reasoning makes sense, and, oh, my god, she probably ispregnant again, what the fuck—)

“That has to bewhat’s happening here,” Peter says, determined. “See, back on Earth, peoplesaid animals—like Rocket, since he’s a raccoon, even though he swears he’s not, he’s a freakin’ raccoon—could sometimes sense it beforepeople could, so they’d be more protective around the people they cared about,and, and—oh my god, you mightactually be pregnant again, holy shit.”

“Daddy,” Mer protests, pushing at his hands over her ears.

“Hey, Mer-bear, can you go play with Groot for a bit? He’sin his room,” Peter says, turning her in his lap to meet her eyes. “I need totalk with Mommy real quick.”

“Okay.” He lowers her from his lap and she scampers off downthe hallway.

“You…could be right,” Gamora finally admits. “It would make sense.”

“We should get this tested, like, now,” he says, somewhere between frantic and excited. “As soon aspossible.”

“And if that’s what this is?” she asks, because, what the hell, they hadn’t had much of a talk yetabout a second kid. It was never completely off the table, but they hadn’t planned for it, at least not specifically.This changes a lot of things, like the dynamics of their families, her abilityto contribute physically to the team, the amount of time either of them can contribute anythingto the team, not to mention Mer’s going to have to adjust to being one of two children.

“Well…we made it out safely after Mer surprised us,” hepoints out. “I mean, we’re definitelygoing to need some serious time to process this and actually talk about it, butI think we can handle it. You’re the one doing most of the work, though, so whatdo you think?”

She absentmindedly sets a hand over her flat stomach, tryingto process everything.

Is she ready?

Probably not, but is anyone really ready when things like this happen?

Does she even wantthis?

“I think,” she says slowly, reaching a hand out under thetable to grasp one of Peter’s hands, “this is good.”

“Yeah? Yeah. It’s good. Really good.” He nods along to hisown words, smiling carefully. She mirrors his expression. “Yeah. Okay. Awesome.We can totally do this. Second time’s the charm. Let’s do it.”

He seals his words with a quick kiss, and, honestly, withhim by her side, Gamora knows theycan do this again.

66) Shorter or taller: Depends on what for. For friendship I’ll say shorter because I’m used to that. For a romantic relationship I’ll say taller, but not by much, probably because of relationship stereotypes. I think I’m slightly traditional in terms of romantic attachments.

67) Older or younger: I don’t care about age specifically, but I internally believe in the stereotype that older people are more mature so might go for someone older for relationship on that basis. I focus on personality more that age.

Calvin Reacts to Overwatch Finale: Profiles

I’m not even sure if anyone is reading these things, but I’m sure as hell going to finish them.

Alright, here we are on the last section: the character profiles. I admit, I’m still not at all sure what’s going on with the majority of these characters, which might mean it was a bad idea to watch all the shorts first. But ah well, too late for that now. For now, it’s time to get straight into what I’ve been waiting for... the profiles! (Note: the format is going to be a little bit different this time; I kind of want to get all this done in one post. I’m also not going to be paying much attention to the gameplay section, since I don’t own the game and probably won’t any time soon.)

GENJI

Okay, so this is basically the story I kind of inferred from “Dragons”: Hanzo and Genji had a falling-out, Genji was left for dead, but he ended up getting saved by Overwatch and rebuilt as a cyborg. It’s interesting to learn that Genji is (at least as far as I can tell) the good guy in this scenario, since he was the one who wanted nothing to do with all the criminal shit that their family was involved in. Also interesting to see how Zenyatta is involved in this; I like this new sense of interconnectedness between the characters.

McCREE

Now here’s someone I barely saw in the trailers, and not at all in the shorts. I have to say, I like the idea; mercenaries almost always have something interesting going on. I still have no goddamn idea why he’s dressed like a cowboy, though; that was kind of the thing I was most interested in finding out. Ah well, I guess we all have our own thing.

PHARAH

Okay, based on her gameplay style, I’m officially calling her “Miss Explosion”.

On the serious side, I can kind of relate to her in terms of getting to something just in time to find that whatever you were excited about was already over. It happens to me a lot with shows and book series I’m interested in; on the one hand it’s nice because I get to see everything at once, but on the other hand I don’t get the excitement of waiting for the next episode and the odds of me getting spoiled are overwhelmingly larger. It happened with Fablehaven, it’s happening with Homestuck, and it’ll almost definitely happen with Kingdom Hearts III. Goddamn early Japanese release dates. Let’s hope for a worldwide release for once.

...did I say that was the serious side? Because I probably shouldn’t have. Anyway, another cool bio.

REAPER

Okay, here they just kind of cheated. I came here looking for information about who Reaper is and what’s driving him, and literally the second sentence of the bio is “[Reaper’s] identity and motives are a mystery”. Although the theory they do provide (which, let’s be honest, is probably going to be the one they go with or else why bring it up at all) is pretty damn cool. Still, wish we could have had some kind of backstory.

SOLDIER: 76

Yeah, this is basically the same bio we got from the animatic. Really should have read these earlier. Hey, don’t blame me; blame TVTropes for listing the profiles last.

SOMBRA

Well, for one thing she’s apparently capable of hacking the fourth wall to remove her personal information.

Alright, so here’s where we’re starting to get into the lore: apparently Sombra stumbled upon some kind of conspiracy, presumably the same one that was responsible for whatever the fuck happened to Overwatch itself. It can’t be Talon, since the article specifically identifies them as being different entities. So who is it? I guess we’ll just have to wait for future updates to find out.

TRACER

Literally just the same stuff as the animatic, in some cases word for word.

BASTION

Basically the same stuff, but we do get some nice worldbuilding about the Omnic Crisis, and about Omnics in general. Yeah, definitely getting Iron Giant vibes from Bastion here.

HANZO

Yeah, this is just the “Dragons” short. From here on out I’m not going to comment on a page too much unless it has something new.

JUNKRAT

Alright, now here’s the something new I was talking about. So apparently in the future Australia has been rendered even less habitable than it currently is, due to an attack on something called an “omnium”. I’m gonna look up what the fuck THAT is once I’m done here. And apparently Junkrat found some sort of secret in the ruins of said omnium, but no one has any idea what it is. Intriguing. That’s something I’m gonna have to look into as well. Also, Junkrat’s face reminds me of someone, but I can’t for the life of me think who.

MEI

Another character I have literally no context for. And if you’ll forgive the unspeakably shitty pun, she has a pretty cool backstory! So apparently she was an environmentalist working with Overwatch to figure out how specifically we were fucking over the planet this time, but an avalanche caused her and her team to get cut off; so she basically Futurama’d herself in order to survive until rescue came. This again feels like something that’s getting built up to in coming updates; all these unknowns excite my inner theorist.

TORBJÖRN

So this guy seems to have created most of the weapons for the original Overwatch agents. I guess he really is a futuristic dwarven smith. And of course no one listened to him when he was talking about robots trying to take over the world, and then the bad things happened. Not too much backstory on this one, but I want to hear more about him tracking down his old weapons; that sounds like a killer story.

WIDOWMAKER

I’M NOT CRYING, YOU’RE CRYING

D.VA

Okay, so she’s a gamer, I guess. That’s always cool. As for the backstory proper, it’s like Pacific Rim, only somehow even more ominous: some kind of giant robot thing appeared near South Korea, no one knows where the fuck it came from, and apparently the entire country’s military and an army of giant mechs can’t kill it faster than it can adapt. Also, that last sentence indicating that she is now livestreaming her military battles might be the single most amazing thing I’ve yet come across in this series.

ORISA

Basically the same thing as the animatic. More cryptic references to Doomfist. I want to know who the fuck Doomfist is. Get on that, Blizzard.

REINHARDT

Well, I like that he’s a knight. In terms of backstory there’s not too much new stuff here, but I have to say, I kind of like the guy so far. I hope he gets some spotlight later on.

ROADHOG

So this is basically a prequel to Junkrat’s entry. I guess an “omnium” is an area that’s controlled by the Omnics, or else some kind of facility for robots? I’ll look it up later. As for this guy, I have to admit it’s a pretty sad story. I feel for the guy.

WINSTON

A lot of stuff I already suspected, but it’s nice to have it confirmed. Also, this backstory was even more full of feels than I was expecting. I love the idea that genetically enhanced gorillas are just a thing that everyone accepts exists in the future.

ZARYA

So she was an Olympic athlete who spent most of her life training to compete, but at the last second ended up having to change course and fight robots. Also, yeah, an omnium is definitely some kind of base for robots.

ANA

The last of the three post-release characters (so far; come on, Blizzard, where’s that Doomfist ARG?). Basically the same as the animatic.

LÚCIO

Another character I know nothing about, other than the fact that Hobbes keeps calling his weapon a “bass cannon”. As for the backstory...eh, it’s not much I haven’t seen in a crapload of other stories. Cool character design, though.

MERCY

Ah, so she’s the one who rebuilt Genji! Wow, nearly at the end and that whole thing comes full circle. Anyway, I like her character; she’s basically the world’s most badass pacifist. The backstory is pretty cool too; again, not too much I haven’t seen elsewhere, but it’s still interesting.

SYMMETRA

“Symmetra literally bends reality.” Well, that’s certainly one way to keep the reader on their toes.

Yeah, this one is pretty cool. Absolutely cringe-worthy dialogue aside (seriously, “architechs”? “Utopaea”? I was having a hard enough time buying “Symmetra”), I am curious about who’s side she’ll ultimately end up being on. It’s interesting that one of the most powerful characters so far is one who isn’t with Overwatch or explicitly fighting it.

ZENYATTA

And here we are, the one I’ve been waiting for: Robo-Monk. I actually read the abilities on this one because I was so confused by them in the trailer. As for the backstory, it’s pretty damn cool! I have to say, I really like the whole thing with robots finding religion; that’s one of my favorite sci-fi tropes, seeing how aspects of our culture would be interpreted and adapted for a completely different form of life. And again, we get some more hints about future events.

And with that, I have caught up. I am now familiar with the characters and the lore. Of course, I’m not finished; there are still the comics (which I'll check out on my own some time), and of course there is the game itself (which I might get at some point if I can figure out how the hell to run it on a Duel Disk). And of course, there will probably be other videos in the future, which I will of course react to. But for now, at least, I can finally put this series to rest. This is Calvin, signing off.
