We really, really need to kill the idea that something being a religious belief puts it on a special untouchable level that nobody is allowed to disrespect or think is dumb. A religious belief isn’t any more special than any other belief or opinion, and it should absolutely be held to the same standards and critical thinking as anything else.

Living for conspiracy Steve. You know if they tried anything Joan the Disservice cat would be on the case. You also know Diane clocked it during her looky loo walks and she’s got tea. An alliance is forming.
What’s funny about Steve’s paranoia with the electric company van parked outside is that it’s definitely just the electric company.
If SoMeBoDy would just listen to reason then maybe they might remember the bad weather they’ve been having. They live in a suburb just outside of Chicago. It’s windy and wind messes with powerlines, but Steve isn’t dumb. Thank you very much.
He knows that.
Just like he knows what logo Mike said was on the van that El flipped. And like he said, “It’s spycraft 101. Of course, they’re here after a storm. It’s inconspicuous.”
“Big word,” Eddie replies appreciatively. “How do you know that?”
“I took the SATs?”
“Now the word! Why do you think that they’re tapping our phones?”
“It’s in all the movies, Eddie.”
There’s an unspoken duh tacked on to the end of Steve’s sentence and Eddie kinda loves it. He kinda loves how confident Steve is when he’s convinced himself this shit is real and a little part of Eddie wants to play along, but he knows how quickly it can all go bad so, “Baby, please. Stevie, what are they tapping into? We don’t have a landline.”
Steve pauses to think and then peaks back out through the blinds. He mutters, “You don’t know how wiretaps work?”
“Do you?”
Steve just purses his lips and looks even harder out the window which is just Steve-speak for ‘no, actually. I don’t know how wiretaps works because no one does.’ It makes Eddie grin, sliding up behind him and whispering in his ear, “Don’t you think one of our half dozen nosy neighbors would’ve told us if someone was spying on us?”
“Not if-“
“Baby, Diane came over twice last week because she saw a suspicious car in our driveway,” Eddie hums. “It was our car, Steve.”
Steve relaxes back against his chest a little but he knows the battle is not yet won so, Eddie adds, “Sweetheart, think about it. They’d know.”
“That’s true,” Steve relents just a little and then says, “Unless one of our neighbors is a spy.”
“No, baby.”
“Like a nosy neighbor that’s always in our business,” Steve continues, building confidence. “And who has always been in our business ever since we moved in…and who is talking to the electric company people right now.”
Eddie looks out through the peak in the blinds Steve is making and watches as Diane makes her way down her driveway in her pink house shoes, waving at the man halfway up the telephone pole. She calls something up at him but they’re too far away to hear it.
He can feel Steve pull away and Eddie thinks, damn it.
“Well, that friendship was good while it lasted.”

I'm obsessed with the development of Five's outfit for S3. He goes from looking poised and professional in his uniform for two seasons, to looking like an unhinged conspiracy theorist living out of his car. And I'm here for it.

what i like about ada's report, & i'll get into it more eventually, is that despite it being ada explaining the plot (& her motivations) to you directly, it presents an interesting relationship between ada, a known liar & manipulator, & the audience. while she withholds information from other characters & skirts about on mystery throughout RE4 & separate ways, there is one person to whom she doesn't lie, to whom she does tell the truth, at least a part of it, & that is you, the player. it is a very neat narrative device that wouldn't work as well in a different medium
#* file // : OOC — ( 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐏𝐎𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐑'𝐒 𝐂𝐑𝐔𝐒𝐀𝐃𝐄 . )#not that anyone's actually fucking read ada's report people still think ada was saving leon out of love#in direct opposition to wesker's orders in the original re4#i wish this didn't make me mad but it does it's right there in plain english the nikita pose is a misdirection#it's subverting the trope she's part of a bigger conspiracy leon is a necessary piece of her mission#like the subversion of the femme fatale isn't subtle#they either die or are undone upon reveal of their treachery ada survives & lives beyond the logical endpoint of her character#she isn't weakened or completely changed in fact she learns how to manipulate the hero better for their next encounter#she isn't working for the villain both in that she tells you that she's only been pretending to this whole time#& that she works for another organization that's been spying on wesker through ada this whole time#but also the fact that wesker is neither the villain of re4 nor resident evil as a franchise he is another cog in the machine#just another one of umbrella's leftovers#see i know people think ada despises chris because he mistook her for carla one time on the tanker#but i think they've got a lot more in common than either is truly willing to admit should they actually ever speak to each other#i just think it's neat that she gets his line addressed to wesker to use on mr. x (just another one of umbrella's failed experiments)#darkside chronicles & re5 were developed around the same time i'm sure it's a coincidence

and yknow what heres the deaths of some fallen s.t.a.r.s members as depicted in the umbrella conspiracy
“Joseph!”
Jill’s scream ringing in his ears, Chris drew his weapon and stopped in his tracks, trying to get a clear shot at the raging beasts that were attacking Joseph. Wesker’s penlight sent a thin beam dancing over the writhing creatures, illuminating a nightmare. Joseph’s body was all but hidden by the three animals that tore at him, ripping at him with gnash-ing, dripping jaws. They were the size and shape of dogs, as big as German Shepherds maybe, except that they seemed to have no fur, no skin. Wet, red sinew and muscle flashed beneath Wesker’s wavering light, the dog-creatures shrieking and snapping in a frenzy of bloodlust.
Joseph cried out, a burbling, liquid sound as he flailed weakly at the savage attackers, blood pouring from multiple wounds. It was the scream of a dying man. There was no time to waste; Chris targeted and opened fire.
Three rounds smacked wetly into one of the dogs, a fourth shot going high. There was a single, high-pitched yelp as the beast went down, its sides heaving. The other two animals continued their as-sault, indifferent to the thunderous shots. Even as Chris watched in horror, one of the slavering hell hounds lunged forward and ripped out Joseph’s throat, exposing bloody gristle and the glistening slickness of bone.
.
“What—” he started, then saw what was on the carpet in front of them, laying in the small sitting area that marked the end of the corridor.
For a moment, Barry thought it was Chris—until he saw the S.T.A.R.S. Bravo insignia on the vest, and felt a different kind of horror set in as he struggled to recognize the features. The Bravo had been decapi-tated, the head laying a foot away from the corpse, the face completely covered in gore.
Oh jeez, it’s Ken.
Kenneth Sullivan, one of the best field scouts Barry had ever known and a hell of a nice guy. There was a gaping, ragged wound in his chest, chunks of partly eaten tissue and guts strewn around the bloody hole. His left hand was missing, and there was no weapon nearby; it must have been his gun that Joseph had found out in the woods.
Barry looked away, sickened. Ken had been a quiet, decent sort, did a lot of work in chemistry. He’d had a teen-aged son who lived with his ex in California.
.
Forest Speyer was dead, The laughing, Southern good ol' boy with his ratty clothes and easy grin was no more. That Forest was gone, leaving behind a bloody, lifeless imposter lumped against a wall. Chris stared down at the imposter, the distant sounds of the night lost to the sudden gust of wind that whipped around the caves, moaning through the railing of the second-story patio. It was a ghostly sound, but Forest couldn’t hear it; Forest would never hear anything again.
Chris crouched down next to the still body, care-fully prying Forest’s Beretta from beneath cool fin-gers. He told himself he wouldn’t look, but as he reached for Forest’s belt pack, he found his gaze fixed on the terrible emptiness where the Bravo’s eyes had once been.
Jesus, what happened? What happened to you, man? Forest’s body was covered with wounds, most an inch or two across and surrounded by raw, bloody flesh—it was as if he’d been stabbed hundreds of times with a dull knife, each vicious cut ripping away chunks of skin and muscle. Part of his ribcage was cruelly exposed, slivers of white showing red beneath tattered redness. His eyeless, streaming stare was the crowning horror—like the killer hadn’t been content to take Forest’s life, wanting his soul instead...
.
“Richard!” Rebecca immediately dropped to her knees next to the Bravo, feeling his throat for a pulse with one trembling hand.
Chris stared mutely down at the torn body, already knowing that she wouldn’t find a heartbeat; the gaping wound on Richard Aiken’s right shoulder was drying, no fresh blood seeping through the mutilated tissue. He was dead.
He watched Rebecca’s slender hand slowly drop away from the Bravo’s neck and then reach up to close his glazed, unseeing eyes. Her shoulders slumped. Chris felt sick over their discovery; the communica-tions expert had been a positive, sweet guy, and only twenty-three years old...
.
“Hang on, Rico. We’ll get you out of here, you just have to lie still—” Enrico shook his head, still looking at Jill. “There’s a traitor in the S.T.A.R.S.,” he whispered. “He told me—” Bam! Bam!
Enrico’s body jumped as two holes suddenly ap-peared in his chest, blood pulsing out of them in violent spurts. Through the resounding echo of the shots, running footsteps clattered away down the corridor behind them.
Barry launched to his feet and sprinted around the corner as Jill helplessly squeezed Enrico’s twitching hand, her heart pounding and sick. He slumped over, dead before he touched the cold stone floor.

I need to share two moments that stick in my head from resident evil the umbrella conspiracy. I can’t stop thinking about them.
The first is when wesker reveals the truth to Barry.
“Now, what I'm supposed to do is get to the laboratories on the grounds here and put an end to some rather incriminating evidence--proof that White Umbrella is responsible for the accident that's caused so much trouble in Raccoon as of late. The problem is, I don't have the key to get to those labs-keys, actually. And that's where you come in. I need for you to help me find those keys."
Barry stared at him for a moment, speechless, his mind churning. An accident, a secret lab doing biological research . .
..and murdering dogs and zombies loose in the woods
He raised his revolver and pointed it at Wesker's smiling face, stunned and angry. "Are you insane?
You think I'm going to help you destroy evidence?
You crazy son of a bitch!"
Wesker shook his head slowly, acting as if Barry were a child. "Ah, Barry, you don't understand; you don't have a choice in the matter. See, a few of my friends from White Umbrella are currently standing outside of your house, watching your wife and daughters sleep. If you don't help me, your family is going to die."
Barry could actually feel the blood drain from his face. He cocked the hammer back on the Colt, feing a sudden, vicious hatred for Wesker infusing any fiber of his being.
"Before you pull the trigger, I should mention the if I don't report back to my friends fairly soon, their orders are to go ahead and do the deed anyway." The words cut through the red haze that had flooded Barry's mind, turning his hands clammy with terror.
Kathy, the babies.!
"You're bluffing," he whispered, and Wesker's grin finally disappeared, his expression slipping back into the unreadable mask that he usually wore.
"I'm not," he said coldly. "Try me. You can apologize to their headstones later."
For a moment, neither of them moved, the silenced palpable thing in the chill air. Then Barry slowly eased the hammer back down and lowered the weap on, his shoulders slumped. He couldn't, wouldn't risk it; his family was everything.
Second is when Barry returns to the scene of enrico death:
Barry was standing over Enrico's cold body, Wesker's map crumpled in one hand. Till had been gone when he'd returned--and rather than look for her, he'd found himself unable to move, to even tear his gaze away from the corpse of his murdered friend.
It's my fault. If I hadn't helped Wesker get out of the house, you'd still be alive...
Barry stared miserably at Enrico's face, so filled with guilt and shame that he didn't know what to do anymore. He knew he had to find Jill, keep her from getting to Wesker, keep his family from being hurt-but still, he couldn't seem to force himself to walk away. What he wanted more than anything was to be able to explain himself to Enrico, make him under. stand how things had come to be the way they were.
He's got Kathy and the babies, Rico... what else could I have done? What can I do but follow his orders?
The Bravo stared back at him with glazed, unseeing eves. No accusation, no acceptance, no nothing. For-ever. Even if Barry continued to help the captain and everything else turned out the way it was supposed to, Rico Marini would still be dead and Barry didn't know how he was going to live with the knowledge that he was responsible...

I’m so powerful for making Roxy trans in a way that no one else is doing. I give her so much gender I’m not even entirely sure where she falls on the trans scale if not slipping off the scale directly into ‘genderqueer’ territory.

I'm reading "The Umbrella Conspiracy" and though, I'm not too far into it yet, I'm dying at the banter between the S.T.A.R.S. members, but also the way they sre characterized.

I have a theory about The Umbrella Academy season 4. SPOILERS AHEAD!
Okay, so many people have speculated that each season raises one character at a time to have a main problem. For instance, in season 1, Luther was obsessed with why he was sent to the moon, in season 2, Diego aimed to stop JFK from being killed, and in season 3, Allison went into overdrive with trying to get Claire back. What if in season 4, Klaus dies for good and only comes back to life when the family gets their powers back?
He dies multiple times in season 3 to the point where he was very comfortable with dying, so he might forget he is no longer immortal.

I know it's not over-over, there's still the festivals this year and Australia and Asia next year but tonight really felt like the end of Something. if we get nothing else out of the rest of these shows, we got them back for a bit at their best and brightest and nothing can ever take that away from this community 🖤
