It was a normal Wednesday morning in the Buckley-Diaz household. Both Buck and Eddie were up before Chris and Y/N, which wasn't unusual. What was unusual was when Chris came out of his room to the smell of bacon but Y/N didn't. Both Buck and Eddie looked at each other in concern. "Hey, Buck and Dad." Chris said and they smiled at him
"Hey, Chris!" Buck said
"Hey, Buddy!" Eddie said at the same time. Chris sat down and Buck dished out his food but their daughter had yet to come out of her room. "I'll go and check on her." He said after looking at Buck, they had gotten to the point where they could tell what one another was thinking with just one look. Eddie began walking to her room after ruffling his son's hair, which Chris laughed at.
When Eddie got to Y/N's room he knocked first and when he didn't get a response he opened the door and peeked in. He found her curled up in a fetal position still sound asleep at first he smiled then the light caught sweat on her hairline and he frowned. He walked in further and noticed her face scrunched up in pain. He sat on her bed and rubbed her back "Princesa." He said softly using his nickname for her when she was little. She groaned but didn't stir. This wasn't like their daughter. Buck had decided to make his appearance when Eddie didn't come back after 10 minutes. He frowned when he saw her in a curled fetal position, the same position Eddie found her in. He walked in and kneeled on the ground. He looked up at Buck and Eddie shook his head.
Buck began stroking her hair. "Sweetheart? It's time to wake up." He said in a soft voice and she groaned again and Buck looked at Eddie. "You want some food? I got eggs and bacon." He said in a questioning voice. She slowly opened her eyes and grimaced.
"No." She said and looked at Eddie and then Buck. This concerned her fathers.
"You ready to get up and dressed for school?" Eddie asked with a small smile.
"Ok." She said this wasn't their talkative 10-year-old. Eddie got up and Buck stood up. They watched her slowly get out of bed and move slowly around the room.
"We'll be in the kitchen if you need us." Buck said and she nodded and they left the room. Still as concerned as ever when they walked into her room.
"She felt warm didn't she?" Buck asked Eddie and he nodded.
"Yeah, she did. Something isn't right with her. This is not like her." Eddie said and Buck agreed. They reached the kitchen and started to fix her plate just as soon as she started to come out they looked at her. Now out in the light, they could see how pale she was and her gate was slow. She had her school clothes on but they weren't going to send her to school not with her looking like that. She sat down and they put the plate in front of her.
"Hey, Y/N/N." Chris said and she smiled "You don't look so good." He said and she shook her head.
"Hey. I don't feel so good." She admitted as she took one bite of the eggs she swallowed and they could've sworn her face turned green. She jumped up and ran to the bathroom and started throwing up. All three males looked at each other and Eddie and Buck took off towards their daughter.
When they got there she was leaning over the toilet puking what she had in her stomach, which wasn't anything. So she was just dry heaving. She had tears rolling down her face. Eddie was the one to pull her hair back. "Princesa, are you ok?" He asked and she shook her head. Afraid that if she spoke she would just dry heave more. Dry heaving made her exhausted she practically fell into Eddie exhausted and he caught her. "It's ok Princesa." He said and wrapped an arm around her. He then looked at Buck.
"I'll call the school and tell them she's not going. I'll call Maddie and Chim and see if they can watch her." Buck said and looked back at their daughter who had her eyes closed and was sweating and had tears escaping her eyes.
"Yea, that sounds like a good idea." Eddie said. Buck went off into the other room. "Princesa, you want to try and get up?" He asked her. She cracked her eyes open.
"Ok." She said really out of it. He kissed the top of her head and started the process of getting up "Want Maddie." She said and this didn't surprise her father. She went through phases of wanting different people when she was sick.
"Ok, getting up on 1,2,3." He said he helped her stand and her legs were shaking like a newborn foal standing on its legs for the first time and he was mostly supporting her weight. He let her get her footing and then started to help her out of the bathroom and into the living room. "Dad is calling Aunt Maddie now." He said as he laid her on the couch she nodded her head and drifted off to sleep. He made sure she was ok then went to where Buck was in the kitchen with Chris.
"Maddie and Chim said they could take her." Buck said and that made Eddie chuckle "Did she say she wanted Maddie?" He asked.
"Yea she did. Alright, Chris, we are taking you to school and then taking Y/N/N to Maddie and Chim." Eddie said
"I'm gonna say bye to her." Chris said and they smiled. That kid really did love his sister and she loved her brother.
"Just be careful." Buck said as Chris was getting up and walking into the living room. They could hear quiet talking and that brought smiles to their faces.
When it was time to leave Buck was the one to help their daughter up off the couch while Eddie got the truck ready. They were loaded in by the time she and Buck got there. "Dad?" She asked and he looked at her.
"Yes, Baby?" He asked
"I don't feel good." She said and about that time she had leaned over and threw up in the bushes. He held her hair back and rubbed her back.
"I know, Baby. Let it all out." He said and by the time she was done Eddie was there with a washcloth wiping her mouth. They got her loaded into the truck and headed off.
When they dropped Chris off he said bye to them and his sister which she weakly returned. Then they drove to Maddie's and Chimney's house. "Why does Chimney have off?" Y/N asked weakly they both softly smiled.
"He had some things to do around the house and errands to run that Maddie couldn't." Eddie said and she nodded and leaned back against the headrest. They both looked into the review mirror concerned for their youngest.
When they arrived at Maddie's she and Chimney were already outside. All three of them got out of the truck and headed to the couple. "Oh, Honey. You don't look good." Maddie said and brought the girl into a hug "You're warm too." She said.
"Yea she tried to eat and ran to the bathroom and threw up. She was warm then too. She threw up in the bushes. She also said that she wanted you this time." Eddie said and they all chuckled.
"Well you two need to get to work. We got her from here." Chimney said and they nodded and said goodbye to their daughter and headed toward the station. The three of them headed inside. "Do you want something to drink?" He asked the girl as Maddie was helping her sit on the stool.
"No. Not hungry." She said not looking at them so she didn't see the look on their faces towards each other.
"Can you at least drink a little bit of juice or Gatorade?" Maddie asked she looked at her when she said Gatorade.
"Gatorade, please." She said and they smiled. She was always so polite. Chim nodded and got it out of the fridge and opened it for her.
It was becoming 1 PM and it was lunchtime. Y/N had moved to the couch to watch some TV when Maddie came in and sat down. "Hey, do you want to try to eat something? Chim is going to stop at Panera on his way home. He can get you some soup." She asked looking worried.
"I'll try. Can I get the tomato soup?" She asked in a small voice while looking at her and Maddie smiled.
"Of course, I'll text him. You just continue resting and drinking that Gatorade." Maddie said and swept some hair away from her face.
Chim arrived back with the food and Y/N slowly made her way to the table and sat down slowly. They looked at each concerned. "When was the first time you got sick or started feeling this way?" Chim asked the youngest and she took a bite while thinking.
"It started Friday but I didn't think anything of it. I didn't tell Papa or Dad because they were stressed. I didn't start throwing up until this morning." She said taking slow small bites of her soup.
Surprisingly she didn't run to the bathroom throwing up. They finished lunch and when she was getting up pain shot through her right side abdomen. She stopped and took in a sharp breath and this caught the attention of both adults. They turned to her and rushed to her side. "Hey, are you ok?" Chim asked and she didn't answer at first but nodded her head.
"I think so." She said breathlessly. She stood and began walking and both adults watched her eyes roll into the back of her head and her knees buckle as they rushed to catch her. They lowered her to the ground where Chim went into paramedic mode and Maddie went into nurse mode.
"Hey, Sweetheart. Can you hear me?" He asked and they got no response. He felt her pulse and it was racing. Then Maddie made attention to something.
"Chim, her right side abdomen is swollen." She said and she lifted her shirt and sure it enough it was.
"Appendicitis." Chim confirmed.
"Should we call 911 or take her ourselves?" She asked
"It'll be too long for us to take her. Call 911." Chimney said and she nodded and got up to get her phone while Chimney called 911.
**********************************************
The 118 had just gotten back from a call and were putting their gear away. "How's Y/N/N doing?" Bobby asked the two fathers.
"She's sick. She threw up on Buck's bacon and eggs, which she loves. She then threw up in the bushes when we were leaving." Eddie said as they walked up the stairs to the kitchen.
"Who did she want this time?" He asked knowing the girl.
"Maddie." Eddie said and they chuckled.
"It'll change the next time she's sick." Buck said while getting something to eat. "I'm kind of wondering how she's doing." Buck said and was about to make a call when the bells rang. When the alarm said the address and the situation everyone froze.
"Please tell me that is the wrong address." Buck said as they were gearing up. Once in the truck, Bobby asked for the address again. They said it and Bobby looked back to both of them as they heard the address and the situation. He watched the color drain from their face.
"Ok guys this is one of our own we treat this as any other call." Bobby said but nobody said anything.
They got to the apartment and rushed in. Eddie and Buck were the first one to her but then Hen came in and they started to assess the situation "It looks like she has appendicitis, I don't know if it has bust yet. Did she hit her head on the way down?" She asked Maddie and Chim. They shook their head.
"No, Chim caught her and then we helped lower her down." Maddie said and Hen nodded. Y/N started to come around she opened her eyes and saw her fathers and who she considered her aunts and uncles.
"Papa? Dad?" She asked when her eyes landed on them.
"Princesa, we're here. You're ok." Eddie said and then she looked at Hen and the woman smiled at her.
"Hey, Sweetie. We're going to get you to hospital ok?" Hen asked in a sweet voice and Y/N nodded. They got her on the gurney and everyone left. Maddie stopped Buck.
"We'll meet you there." She said and he nodded he could see a certain look on her face.
"This is not your fault. Ok? Nobody could've predicted this." Buck said and gently grabbed her shoulders and she nodded but tears still came to her eyes. "Hey, it is ok. We're taking her now and she's going to get the surgery that she needs. We should've seen the signs before but she's a good at hiding things." Buck said reassuring his sister. He kissed her forehead and ran to catch up with the rest.
Eddie and Buck rode in the back of the ambulance while another paramedic drove since. When they got to the hospital Hen listed what was wrong with her and they now had to wait. Bobby came up to them. "Take the rest of the day off. We'll be back to be with her and I'll bring you a change of clothes." He said and they both nodded and went to wait in the waiting room. About that time Chimney and Maddie showed up and sat with them.
"What about Chris?" Buck asked thinking of the older child.
"I'll have Carla pick him up and bring him here." Eddie said in a quiet tone. Nobody really spoke after that. It was a comfortable silence. Chimney was holding Maddie's hand and looking down and Maddie was looking at the doors wishing she was still working as a nurse to fins out what is going on. Buck and Eddie were just staring into space wondering how the missed the signs.
"How did we miss it?" Eddie asked "She never let us know she was in pain or was sick." He said shaking his head.
"She's good at hiding things." Buck said. Maddie then looked at them.
"She said that she didn't want to bother you. You were both stressed She said it started Friday but I didn't think anything of it. She also said that she didn't start throwing up until this morning." She said and if they weren't feeling bad before they were feeling bad now. Just then Bobby and Athena walked into the waiting room. Bobby handed Eddie and Buck their bags and they went and changed.
"Are they ok?" Athena asked
"They're feeling bad because they didn't catch the symptoms earlier." Chimney said
"They shouldn't feel bad. She's good at hiding things and masking pain." Bobby said and they all agreed. Eddie and Buck walked out from getting changed. Athena hugged the both of them and they hugged her back.
"Aren't you supposed to be at work?" Buck said to Bobby once Athena released the hug.
"I'm just here dropping of your bags and then heading back out. We'll be back after out shift. Athena here actually doesn't have to go back to work." Bobby said and they nodded. Bobby left after a few minutes "Keep us updated." He said and they nodded.
**********************************************
1 hr. later the doctor was coming out into the waiting room. "Family of Y/N Buckley-Diaz?" He said and Eddie and Buck stood up and walked over to him.
"We're he dads." Eddie said and he nodded.
"I'm Dr. Waters. We got in there just in time. Any minute later it would've ruptured. She still has a fever and we put her on IV fluids and antibiotics. She has been moved to a room. You can go and see here in room 118." He said and they nodded and he turned and left. They found it a little bit funny that she was in room 118 when they worked for the 118. They walked over to Maddie, Chimney, and Athena. They looked at them.
"The got in surgery just in time. Any minute later and it would've ruptured. She still has a fever and has been put on IV fluids and antibiotics. She's in room 118. We can go see her." Buck said and everyone sighed in relief.
"118 huh?" Chimney said with a chuckle.
"We found it funny too." Eddie said as they started to go and see the most beloved girl known to the firehouse. "I'm gonna text Bobby and Hen and let them know." He said as he started walking and texting. He also texted Carla.
They got to her room and found her sleeping peacefully and they walked in. Eddie and Buck walked over to her and brought over two uncomfortable plastic chairs and waited for her to wake up. They would've woken her up but they wanted her to sleep. Everyone else took seats around the room.
30 minutes later she woke up with a groan and her dads were up and fussing over her. "Princesa." Eddie said at the same time as Buck said "Baby." She moved slightly uncomfortbale.
"How are you feeling?" Eddie asked
"Better. What happened?" She asked
"You had your appendix removed. You fainted when you were at Maddie's and Chimney's place." Buck said and she nodded and then looked over to them.
"I'm sorry guys." She said feeling guilty. They walked over to her along with Athena. "Hi, Athena." She added.
"Hi, Sweetie." Athena said and smiled
"It's ok, really. We're just happy you're ok." Maddie said and Chimney nodded as they touched her leg. They talked for awhile until she let out a yawn and they let her back to sleep.
**********************************************
3:15 PM rolled around and Carla was coming in with Chris. They greeted everyone and then turned to Y/N who was awake. "Hey sis." Chris said and she smiled.
"Hey big bro." She said tiredly
"Hey, Y/N. How are you feeling?" Carla said
"Hi, Carla. I'm feeling ok just sore." She said and she smiled.
"Knowing you, you'll be back to your normal self in no time." She said and Y/N smiled they all knew it was true. Nurses and came and went throughout the day checking on her. Her fever had broke and now she had to spend the night and hopefully be released tomorrow.
She had fallen asleep again while everyone had quiet conversations. When it had turned to 5 PM Bobby, and Hen were walking into the room carrying some things. "118 huh?" Bobby asked and chuckled.
"Yea, that's the same reaction we had." Chimney said and then Y/N stirred.
"Hi Bobby and Athena." She said and smiled and they smiled bacl.
"Hi Y/N." Bobby and Hen said at the same time.
"We got you some things." Hen said and that is when they noticed the 'Get Well Soon' bear and balloon and then the flowers in Bobby's hands.
They all talked and then visiting hours were over. Buck and Eddie were allowed to stay since she was minor. Carla offered to take Chris back home and to school the next day. Once everyone left they got comfortable although they had one thing on their mind and Buck was the first one to address it. "Baby, why did you hide it from us?" Buck asked and she looked down.
"I didn't want to bother you. You both were stressed from pulling two 24-hr shifts. I didn't think it was anything just something that I ate. I'm sorry." She said and they felt their heartbreak.
"Princesa, it's ok. We should've saw the signs earlier so it's on us. Just please come to us next time." He said and she nodded her head and looked up with tears falling.
"You can always come to us." Buck said and she sniffled and then yawned. "You tired?" He asked and she nodded her head and they chuckled.
"Get some sleep. We'll be right here." Eddie said and she nodded and she scooted down with the help of her and got comfortable.
"I love you Papa and Dad." She said already going to sleep.
"We love you too." They said at the same time. They got comfortable and listened to the sound of her heart monitor beeping steadily. They promised they would pay more attention to their surroundings when it comes to their kids, even after pulling two 24-hr shifts. She also promised to come to them when she started to feel sick.

Platonic Ghostbusters x social media manager! Reader?
oooo hell yeah!! ; thanks for requesting and I hope u enjoy :)

Tumblr media
Podcast wanted to run the official Ghostbuster social media's but was quickly turned down at that. They needed someone who could actually be on top of that kind of stuff and whatnot. So, Stanz made a deal with Podcast that they'd get a social media manager, and he could act as their teammate with that, basically. Giving them ideas, giving them video clips and extra details, etcetera.
Most of the others didn't see a real reason for a social media manager, but as long as it wasn't their money.
Trevor offered to just do everything himself, but that was obviously turned down as well. The teens all agreed not to let the adults run the account either. They didn't need millennial - Gen X / Boomer humor flooding the whole account and making them look bad.
And that's where you came in.
surprisingly, Pheobe was the one to find you. she's seriously the most chronically offline person ever so the fact she ever opened Instagram was a miracle in itself
lots of talking back and forth and meeting the original four three ghostbusters to get input, then meeting callie & garry and the teenagers
you actually figured out that you used to be friends with Lucky as well, damn
you had managed social media accounts before, but you'd recently quit a few of those because of labor laws being broken so, yknow
you quickly formed a bond with Lucky, Trevor, and Podcast. you were kind of close in age to all three of them and they were all invested in the public image for the brand
setting the Instagram up was genuinely the funnest thing ever
the four of you were chilling in the living room in the firehouse (since sleepover stuff, pheobe was in her room reading) and you had your laptop in your lap and the three of them over your shoulders
the amount of laughing and cackling got some scolding from callie upstairs
it took everything out of you to not make the first post a video of trevor being soaked in Slimer's slime (which had been recorded by Lucky just by coincidence as they were investigating the attic again)
the first three posts, which were pinned, all lined up to be like a banner kind of logo with the theme song in the back, and they all played the same video, clips of the og ghostbusters and how they grew and then the new ghostbusters
the tiktok is its own thing, you allowed trev, lucky, podcast (and pheobe) to run it, but everything had to be ran by you first because pr shit
but thankfully no boomer humor or slang is ever being put on those accounts
most of those people don't even know wtf the internet is anyways lol
stanz has a personal vendetta against you /hj after you posted a .5 of him for relatable promo. he had no idea what you were doing but it was criminal that you made his forehead look so much more bigger than it already was
Winston gives you a bunch of old pics to post to trending angst sounds as well LOL
let's not talk about that tiktok where you, lucky, and trevor dance to/remake submissive and breedable by smosh ft bbno$, okay?
^podcast and pheobe were behind the camera cackling the whole time
lots of random pic posts on the insta as well because why not (most of them are the teens looking awkward, callie, gary & lars trying to look like cool scientists, or venkman, stanz, zeddemore & melnitz being classic, sassy old people)
the socials are never professional whatsoever, it's fun but it's not heavily controversial or obvious that you're there as a pr manager basically or just to manage the socials
like man they don't have the time to look at all the comments, take all the advice, reply to fans, etc
I mean that wage ain't that bad either LMAO
trevor is always bitching about how you make more money than he does /lh
you're not just a representative to them, you're actually family. you're just cool like that
"bro y/n is such a mc I hate them" and you'll reply on your personal w a "says you, reality shifter" or smthn LMAO idfk
always reposting ghostbuster edits / fanart etc because fandom culture 🙏
also I can't get over the fact the ghostbuster theme song is canon now either. yk damn well that shit is plastered everywhere thanks to you 💀
"do the ghostbusters respond??" "stanz said he loves your dog" "HELP HSEIJDLAKE"
10/10 experience

Alright, so I know haven't been as active since dropping the first chapter of NFL Buck. I've just been sort of down because that same day, the Super Bowl Champs had their parade and rally, and just after it ended there was a mass shooting. My younger sister was there with some friends and they got away unharmed, but when she didn't answer my message for a long 30 minutes, I truly thought the worst. I've just been so sad and angry for Kansas City, for the US really and I just couldn't get into the spirit of writing. I'm not getting into the politics of it all today and my sister is coming for a visit soon, so I'm feeling marginally better. KC Strong.
First chapter of NFL Buck has been dropped, but everything else I've posted for this fic can be found here. Here is a snippet from the Eddie Begin's arc of NFL Buck.
Hurricane Harvey was relentless for almost four days, bullying southern Texas with unforgiving wind and an exurbanite amount of rain. Houston fire department and so many others worked day and night to help those who had not evacuated.  It was absolute chaos, and it blew through Eddie’s entire life. The storms had wreaked havoc on the cell towers, which meant service was spotty to none and radios became the main source of communication for rescuers. By some miracle, though, the internet connection at the firehouse held strong. It was slow and glitched out here and there, reminding Eddie too much of his time in Afghanistan. He watched his infant son grow up through a screen, with his very upset wife barely holding on and his parents hovering nearby, souring the video calls even further. Christopher was no longer a whimpering baby in his mother’s lap but looking at his saddened son on a glitching iPad screen with a tense Maddie sitting beside him, was too familiar.  Add in the argument he had with Buck just before, and the threat of danger just outside the firehouse, Eddie was back to being a scared 19-year-old in war riddled country. “Dad, grandma said we’re not going to visit Buck anymore. That he’s too busy. And Maddie tried to call him, but he didn’t answer and…” The eight-year old’s voice trails off, his lips trembling. Eddie bites his inner cheek hard. This was on him. He gave into his mother’s worries and demands about traveling through Texas during the hurricane.  Helena was too stubborn and being his mother, she knew every damn button to push, and Eddie was tired of fighting.  So, he reluctantly agreed to cancel the visit and his mother grinned a little too sharply before stating, “I’m sure Maddie will enjoy having her brother to herself.” Another ploy to take Christopher and Eddie fucking fell for it. Then his mother took it a step further by graciously telling Buck and Maddie herself, that Christopher would no longer be joining them in Dallas and to enjoy their time together for as long as they need it. Eddie knew his mother didn’t approve of his relationship with Buck, more so than his previous one with Shannon. The only reason she kept her mouth shut was the potential back lash of upsetting Christopher. But she already succeeded in having a hand in driving away Shannon and she probably believed she could do the same with Evan.
With this fic, there are a lot of canon events with twists. The usual timeline does not exists. But I hope you all enjoyed!

tk’s arc from being shot to deciding to stay in austin (and really most of season one) is like. i am so tired. i am so alive. i am too much. i have never been enough. i am alive only by some miracle (you’re my miracle). i am always going to be haunted by the past. i am always going to be the kid in a too-big uniform, chasing after love through a legacy. i am not my father but maybe i can be something better. i am not my father but maybe i can repair what has been broken inside of us both. i dove into a corn silo and broke down doors and breathed in fumes to give breath to another person, and never stopped once to think about doing it any other way. i am no longer dragging my feet through the cobwebs of an entombed firehouse, i am instead warming myself with the glow of love and family that exists inside its walls because they chose me and i chose them in return. i am everything i was before but most of all, i am good. i am not going to run this time—i am going to sink my teeth into the possibility of this being forever.
and i just think that’s neat.

ONE YEAR LATER
Dean and Y/N carried various potluck side dishes into the backyard, placing them on the long wooden table Dean had made in his spare time to accommodate his growing family.
John and Bobby were manning the grill, and Sam was playing with Miracle, the big goofball dog Dean had rescued from a burning building where his owners had sadly perished.
Jody and Mary sat at the table in the sunshine with Jess across from them, sheltering under the parasol with baby Matthew.
When the little boy saw Y/N, he gave her a big toothy smile. He wasn’t even a year old yet and had the same Winchester charm his father, uncle and grandfather had. Y/N couldn’t refuse the grabby hands and little mewls demanding she takes him from his mother’s arms and into hers.
“Hey, buddy!” Y/N smiled as she lifted Matthew and placed him on her hip. Every day his baby babbles sounded more like actual words. Although she wasn’t as versed in Matthew’s baby language as his parents were, she listened to him intently and responded whenever there was a break in his storytelling.
Today’s gathering was a double celebration. Bobby was retiring as Fire Chief at Lawrence F.D. Dean had accepted the promotion into his role and would start as the new Chief at Firehouse 3 the following week. Y/N couldn’t be prouder of her boyfriend and wouldn’t deny that him not running head-first into fires ninety percent of the time would make her life much less stressful.
“He always settles so easily with you,” Jess smiled, and Y/N glanced down to see Matthew had fallen asleep on her shoulder.
“What can I say? Kids love me,” Y/N said, giggling as Dean bent to kiss her forehead, a soft smile curving his lips upwards. The look of utter adoration that shone in his green eyes was overwhelming, and she felt her breath catch in her throat.
“Alright,” John called from the other side of the yard. “First batch of food is ready!”
“Here, let me take him so you can get something to eat. You must be starving after coming off a night shift and barely sleeping before entertaining all of us,” Jess said as she reached to take the sleeping baby from Y/N’s arms.
“It’s fine, Jess. I can survive another twenty minutes. Go, eat something hot for a change without burning your mouth!” Y/N grinned as Jess gave her a grateful smile.
Tumblr media
Once everyone had their fill of food and relaxed with some drinks, Y/N and Jody began clearing dishes and putting away the leftovers before promising to bring more beer and another bottle of wine from the kitchen when they were finished.
“You look happy,” Jody smiled fondly.
“I am,” Y/N nodded, unable to hide her grin.
“Is he treating you right?” The older woman asked next.
“Not just right, Jody. He makes me feel safe and loved and wanted. I couldn’t ask for anything more.”
“Good. I’m happy for you, kiddo. You deserve all of it,” Jody hugged her tightly and added, “And if he puts a toe out of line, he is a dead man!” The women chuckled, and Jody pulled back slightly. “Come on, let’s get these drinks out there and join the celebrations.”
Jody placed a cooler filled with ice, beer and a bottle of wine onto the table, and Y/N gave out clean glasses and placed the corkscrew and bottle opener next to it. John and Sam passed out the drinks, and when no one was left empty-handed and had settled into conversation, Dean stood and gathered everyone’s attention.
“As I’m sure you all know, I’m not good with words and find it hard to talk about my feelings. Today, I’m putting that aside to celebrate a great mentor, a great Chief, and an even greater man. I’ve been in Bobby’s Firehouse since I was a cocky probie, and he quickly knocked that out of me completely! He taught me all I know, and that’s why stepping into his shoes isn’t as terrifying now as it was the first time Bobby told me that one day, I’d be sitting in his seat.
“So, cheers, Bobby! Thank you for having patience with me, for mentoring me and teaching me all I know, for seeing something in me that I couldn’t, and for treating me like family. In and out of the Firehouse.” Dean said, and cries of cheers, congratulations and clinking glasses rang through the backyard. He cleared his throat, letting them know he wasn’t finished yet.
“I know we’re here to celebrate Bobby’s retirement and my promotion, but I’m hoping we might have another reason to celebrate. It’s times like this that I wish I could be more articulate and find the right words to talk about how I feel and the million things I really want to say… need to say. And I promise to try, but for now, the only words I have are the most important ones… Y/N,” Dean’s voice cracked as he got down on one knee before her and pulled out a little velvet box. “Will you marry me?”
Y/N’s hand flew to her mouth in shock, and tears flooded her eyes. This was all she’d ever wanted. All she’d dreamed about. A second chance with the one that got away.
“Yes!” she answered, a shriek of laughter coming straight after as Dean lifted her, held her in his strong embrace, and spun her around.
THE END

Together (VI 2)
Warnings: Mentions of violence, blood, injuries, abuse, kidnappings, shootings, and scary men.
Summary: Everyone in Chicago knows the signature Halstead stubbornness, but the Murray's only smell delusion
A/N: So, I made a mistake in the last chapter and forgot to add a whole section so this is the part I forgot. Sorry 😭😭
Previous Chapter / Series Masterlist / Next Chapter
Tumblr media
When you agreed to help clean up your dad's cabin, a place that had been a sort of holiday home till your mother passed away and your dad started to neglect it, you said you needed a distraction from work and this would be a nice sort of getaway from that bustling life to just be in the middle of the countryside with your brothers.
But this wasn’t what you had in mind when you said you wanted a distraction.
Currently, Will was trying his hardest to get your mind off the immense pain you were drowning in and for a while it was working. Will was a miracle worker in his own right, and you were starting to understand why his patients valued his bedside manner.
But nothing good ever lasted because curled up in his lap, his fingers running through your knotted red hair that was identical to his own curly mop while his other hand remained firm on your wrist where he could feel your pulse and he didn’t need to tell you why because you already knew the nauseous smell of death looming over you like a predator, reading to pounce the nanosecond something changed.
Deep down, guiltily, you wondered what you did to deserve all of this. It made you think the Halstead's were doomed to a lifetime of pain and perhaps you just had to come to terms with this lifestyle, one which you should’ve become accustomed to since your teenage years.
Around ten minutes ago you would say, or that’s what Will said specifically when you asked him, a man decked out in all black came down to what Will also said looks and feels like another basement and gave you food. Last time the Murray's kidnapped you, they let you starve but this time was clearly different.
With Will’s help, you sat up but most your body weight was leaning against Will. Resting your head on his shoulder, he described to you everything that was on the tray and for once, you could say that the Murray brothers surprised you in what you hoped was a in a good way.
Was this suspicious? Very much so yes but were you going to take advantage of what could be a one-off situation.
You could just about make out what they gave but Will start speaking before you could ask him to. There were two water bottles that size of his palm, a carton of grape juice which made you whine, two weird looking and most likely packet bought pb&j sandwiches and finally four plain butter biscuits.
Despite the gruelling hours of torture you endured, food was the last thing on your mind. It had been so long since you had last eaten though, the last meal you could recollect eating was breakfast which merely consisted of a Costco croissant that you ate in the car driving to the firehouse.
Just as you were going to voice your adversity to the food, Will continued being the mother hen you and jay bullied him for.
“Y/N, I don’t care if I have to force feed you, you’re going to eat something from the place and you going to get as much liquids in you. I don’t think this is the time and place for me to be teaching you about nutrition and health.”
You groaned, mumbling to him that you weren’t hungry, but you knew your attempts were futile.
“I promise that you’ll feel a little bit better once you eat. Once we get your sugar levels up a bit, you should be feeling less faint and hopefully you’ll have enough energy to talk to me in full sentences.” Will said, a soft smile on his bloody lips when he tore one of the sandwiches into small bite size pieces, feeding it straight to you when your arm refused to move. “Or I can keep the party going since you're already losing your voice and we don’t need it to be gone completely.”
You hummed in reply. Yeah, you and practically everyone else would appreciate if you still had your voice.
Chewing slowly, you watched Will eating the other sandwich. As the two of you ate, he did mention the poor quality of the food could easily mean something was wrong, but any food was better than no food according to the emergency medicine doctor.
If anything did go wrong though, there was nothing left to patch things up.
And if things did go wrong after this, then the Murray's actions were only getting weirder.
As Will opened the bottled water, gingerly holding it up for you so you could take a few slow sips, you wondered where Jay was and if he was getting the attention he desperately needed, especially after being shot in the snow.
“Do you think Jay’s okay?”
Will stayed silent for a minute when you hoarsely whispered. The question sounded so innocent but the meaning behind it weighs heavy on both your conscious.
“I hope so, I really hope so but he’s Jay. He's not going to stop till he finds us.”

Little sister, big problems - Kelly Severide
Tumblr media
Fandom: One Chicago
Pairing: Kelly Severide x Reader
Requests: Can I request an imagine with Kelly severide? Your parents are non existent and you have to look after your baby sister and the babysitter falls through so u have to bring her to the station?
•••
Life hasn't always been the kindest to you. Your mom had you in her teen years and with your dad completely out of the picture she worked tirelessly to raise you on her own. Fortunately, she remarried and alongside your stepfather they gave you the most beautiful childhood you could ask for. It was later in your life when things started to go bad and everything became more complicated. You watched your mother go through fertility treatment after fertility treatment and it hurt you a lot seeing how unsuccessful they were, knowing your mom's biggest dream was to have two daughters. But somehow, by some miracle, it happened and you had a beautiful baby sister. Life had finally started to look upwards again when a drunk driver claimed the life of your parents on a random Thursday, when you offered to babysit your then one year old sister so they could go on a date night...and ever since it's been just the two of you.
You were in your 3rd year of med school when everything unfolded and ultimately you took the decision to drop out and find another career path, one which will not put you in debt and will allow you to go straight to work, so you could provide for yourself and for your little sister.
Fast forward a few years later you were now working as a paramedic on Ambo 61 and you finally found the balance you needed so badly. "How are things with Severide going? I haven't seen you at Molly's lately and I thoight something was up..." Sylvie said as the two of you were restocking the rig. "Oh no, nothing like that...we're doing great I just have to look after my little sister and since my cousin moved to another city, I need to call the babysitter everytime I want to go out." and just as you said those words you saw the babysitter's car pulling up in front of the firehouse sending you into a state of panic. You immediately dropped everything you were doing and ran towards them to see what was up. Passing the squad table, Kelly also got up noticing what was going on and decided to follow you.
"Hey, everything's alright? " you asked picking up your little sister, Bria as she seemed super excited to see you. "I'm sorry for dropping in like this, but my mom slipped on ice and she's in the ER so I really have to go be with her." The babysitter said handing you Bria's bag with her stuff. Nodding in understatement and after wishing her mom well you turned around to head back into the firehouse, just to find Kelly and Bria already laughing with each other at the Squad table. "Looks like you already made yourself at home, little lady." You said actually amused at how she already had the squad guys wrapped around her finger. "Come on! Let's tell Chief you're staying here this shift." You said extending your hand waiting for her to grab it, but instead she just wrapped her little arms around Kelly's neck. "I guess you're gonna have to talk to Boden alone." Kelly spoke and before you could answer, a call came in for Ambo. "Alright, you be good and play with your toys...they're in the bag." You quickly said while heading towards the Ambo. "Don't mind us, we'll be having fun over here!" Kelly reassured you and they headed inside.
While you were out on the call, Bria was quickly warming up to everyone at 51. She's been there before but only for quick trips and now everyone was trying to keep her entertained. "Do you want to go take a nap?" Kelly asked as he noticed Bria yawning and she nodded in agreement. Picking her up they headed to Kelly's quarters far away from all the commotion. "When is Y/N coming back? She always stays with me until I fall asleep." Bria mumbled while rubbing her eyes. "It might be a while, but I'll stay here with you until she comes back." He said dimming the light but not turning it off completely, as he already knew the little girl was scared of darkness. "Kelly can I ask you something?" Nodding in response he waited for her to continue. "Why don't you live with us?" Letting out a chuckle at the question, Kelly had to give it a second to actually find an answer to that question. "Why? Do you think I should?" "Well yes, you know Y/N makes me pancakes every morning so maybe you should make her pancakes in the morning too., so if you'd live with us you could do that." At this point Bria seemed wide awake propped on her elbows and demanding answers from Kelly who tried his best not to laugh at the fact that Bria was just a mini version of you. "Alright, then tomorrow morning I'll make you both pancakes...but you have to sleep now, it's getting late." He once again tried to tuck her in. "With blueberries?" Bria stuck out her pinky finger waiting for Kelly to do the same. "Yes with blueberries!" Once content with his answer Bria slowly fell asleep right when Y/N arrived.
"Did she give you a hard time?" you asked as Kelly carefully closed the door to his quarters and gave you a kiss. "Not at all, but I've been ordered to make pancakes for the two of you in the morning."
Bria slept through the entire night and thankfully there wasn't another call until the end of the shift. Once arriving home Y/N carried her little sister to bed as it was still early and Kelly made sure to fulfill his promise. "You really don't have to do that..." you said knowing how sassy but also persuasive your little sister was. "But I want to...and I also pinky promised so." Kelly spoke getting all the ingredients out on the counter and you wasted no time helping him.
You and Kelly have been dating for a while but sometimes you still held a wall up because one, you were scared of getting hurt again and two, you really wanted to focus on Bria and make sure she has everything she possibly needs to have a good and healthy upbringing.
"I smell pancakes!" the joyful voice of your little sister echoed throughout the kitchen as she came running in, cllimbing into her seat. As Kelly served her the plate of her favorite pancakes, Bria didn't waste any time and dug right in.
"I'll stick around for a while...if you don't mind." Kelly said wrapping an arm around you and placing a kiss on your temple. That's when you realized it was time to let your guard down and despite all the rainy days you had, the sunny ones looked like they were here to stay. "I'd love that actually!"

Homecoming
Tumblr media
Pairing: Jay Halstead x Severide!reader, Severide x reader (platonic)
Wordcount: 1957
Summary: You and Jay have been married for two years. He's a detective and you're still in the army. You've been deployed for months, but, after getting injured in an ambush, you get to come home early. However, Jay doesn't know you've survived or that you're coming home.
Warnings: A bit of talk about injuries and gunshot wounds, not detailed.
Note: This the first story I've posted. Feel free to tell me what you think or if you have any ideas for other stories.
Story:
You had seen him before you even walked through the gate. You had noticed him through the big glass wall between baggage claim and the arrivals hall. You started walking faster and as you walked trough the sliding doors into the arrivals hall you immediately saw the smile on his face start to grow. You ran straight into his arms. “Hey short stack, good to see you.” Kelly said, wrapping his arms around you and spinning you through the air. “I missed you, Kelly.” You told your brother. “I missed you too, kiddo. How was your flight?” Kelly asked and you told him everything.
For some time you and Kelly just talked. You told him about your deployment, -as much as you could without giving away any classified information- and he told you about everything that had happened at the firehouse in the last seven months. You talked and talked until you couldn’t help but ask the questions that had been burning inside you. “How’s Jay? Have you talked to him?” You asked Kelly.
You had met Jay while in the rangers. Jay had liked you from the moment you met, but you found him mostly annoying. Despite that, you two worked well together and no matter how much you wanted to deny it, the more time you spent with the man, the more you started to like him. For months you refused to tell him tough, because you knew that when your colleagues would find out you were dating, they would treat you differently. For Jay it wouldn’t matter. They would probably congratulate him and pat him on the shoulder proudly, but you? You were a woman in a testosterone filled profession. You had no doubt that if the other soldiers found out you were dating, they would bully you, start thinking of you as weak, incapable of doing your job. Unfortunately, that didn’t take away the fact that you were falling for Jay, hard. Knowing it would be his last deployment, on the day before he went home, you told him how you felt. You couldn’t let him slip out of your life without knowing you reciprocated his feelings.
From that moment on, you were together, but it wasn’t easy. After leaving the army, Jay spiralled. He started drinking and doing drugs and he barely slept. The times when you were deployed were the hardest, because there was nothing you could do to help the man you cared so much about. However, when you were home, you did everything you could think of to help him with his problems and through his nightmares. Jay had a hard time asking for and accepting help, which was hard on you and your relationship. You broke up twice, but never lost contact. You were always there for him and so, when Jay finally got the help he needed and went to the police academy, everything started looking up. Jay was finally in a better place and you had gotten a promotion in the army. You got back together with Jay and for the next few years everything was perfect.
Until one faithful night when Jay was working late and his phone started ringing. You had been injured during a reconnaissance mission. Somehow, your mission got leaked and you and three of your colleagues were ambushed. You got hurt the worst, catching five bullets in your shoulder, leg, chest and two in your lower abdomen. It was nothing less than a miracle that you had made it through, the bullet in your chest having missed your heart by millimetres. You spent a week in intensive care and you had scared Jay nearly to death. He had never realised how short life could actually be. He still wanted to do so many things with you, he had so many thing to tell you. He hadn’t even gotten the chance to tell you he was offered a spot in the intelligence unit. The unit he had dreamt of being a part of ever since he found out about the incredible work they did. While you were in the hospital, he barely left your side, realising exactly how much you meant to him and that he couldn’t live without you. He was completely in love with you and so, a week after you had left the hospital he asked you to marry him. He had taken you to dinner at your favourite restaurant and afterwards taken you for a lakeside walk. In the cool evening air, the sun setting in the sky, he had gotten down on one knee and asked you if you wanted to spend the rest of your life by his side. Without a doubt on your mind, you had said yes. Jay Halstead was the man you wanted to grow old with. Despite being overjoyed that you said yes, Jay was also scared. He was scared because once you got the all clear, you were going back overseas and after you had gotten hurt, that terrified him to his core. At first, he didn’t talk about it though, until you got back from your next deployment and he finally broke. He told you how scared he was and that started a conversation. You talked about resigning from the army, though, at that time, you didn’t want to. You were doing too much good to just stop and so, you kept talking about it. You had decided to put no pressure on your engagement, because even though you both wanted to get married, you both had jobs that kept you busy and you wanted your day to be just right. Therefore, it took you a few years to tie the knot, but you did it and now, you were about to celebrate your second anniversary.
With being married also came conversations about the future. You both wanted to become parents and that caused you to finally give in to the one thing Jay had asked you so many times over the years. You were resigning from the military. The deployment you had just finished, had been your last. You just hadn’t told Jay yet and it had ended roughly. After your last conversation with Jay, which had taken place two weeks ago, the humvee you were in had hit an IED. Your unit got lucky though. You all made it. You had gotten injured, but you survived. You had cuts and bruises all over your body but your worst injury was a concussion that had almost completely passed and actually came with a perk. The injury was enough cause for you to be sent home. Back to Chicago. Back to Jay.
“Honestly? Jay’s not doing too good, Adam told me he barely ever goes home, makes reckless decisions in the field and he won’t talk to anyone.” Kelly told his sister. Your face fell. You knew it would be hard on him, but you didn’t expect it to hit him this hard. When Kelly saw the look on your face, he knew there was only one thing left to do. “Come on, I’ll take you to him.” He said as he stood up from his chair.
All Jay knew was that you were injured. He didn’t know what had happened or how bad your injuries were. For all he knew, you could be dead, but he couldn’t think about that. You could just as easily be alive. But then, why hadn’t he heard anything yet? He was just thinking of an excuse to use to make more overtime, when he was pulled out of his thoughts by the noise coming from the bullpen. For a second he thought he heard your name, but he quickly shrugged the thought out of his mind. You were on the other side of the world. You weren’t supposed to be home for at least another month, so it couldn’t be you. His curiosity was peaked though, so he walked out of the break room to see what was going on.
“Hey, what’s up?” He asked, noticing his whole unit had gathered around something or someone in the middle of the bullpen. He got lucky he was standing next to his desk, because when Kevin moved out of the way and Jay saw who had walked into his workplace the cup of coffee he was holding, slipped out of his hands and onto the table. Jay couldn’t believe that you were actually here, but, without an order from his brain, his legs started moving towards you. When he was right in front of you he still couldn’t believe he wasn’t hallucinating. His hand slowly moved towards your cheek, hesitant, because he was scared you would disappear as soon as he touched you, but he still had to touch you to know if you were real. The moment his thumb touched your cheek, tears appeared in his eyes. “Am I dreaming? Tell me I’m not dreaming?” He begged you, a single tear travelling down his face. Seeing your husband this scared, this vulnerable, made you emotional. You took his hand from your cheek, opened your jacket and placed it over your heart. “I’m here Jay, I’m okay. I’m right here.” You whispered. That was enough for Jay to wrap his arms around you and pull you as close to him as he possibly could and you did the same. As he picked you up, you wrapped your legs around his waist, leaving no room in between you anymore. Both you and Jay had stopped holding back your tears, letting them run over your faces. He had hidden his in your hair and yours was pressed into the crook of his neck.
For a while you just stood there, the world around you none existent. Just you and your husband, finally together again. As he carefully put you down, Jay pulled back to look at your face, into your eyes. “Hi” you said softly, wiping the tears from your face. A small smile appeared on Jay’s face as he looked you over. “God, I missed you so much, but… how are you here?” Your husband then asked. “Well, when we were ambushed, I got knocked out. I woke up in the hospital a week later completely fine, just a nasty concussion to remind me of what happened. Unfortunately that meant I couldn’t use anything technological for a week, but it was enough to get me sent home a few weeks early.” You explained. “And why wouldn’t you tell me that earlier?” Jay asked you. “I’m sorry about that. Everything just happened so fast and before I knew it I was on a flight home thinking it would be fun to surprise you. But when Kelly told me how you were doing, I realised that may not have been such a great idea.” You told him. That reminded you, you had a question yourself: “Why did you take it so hard?”
“Are you kidding? I didn’t even know what happened, let alone how you were. I called everyone I know in the military, but no one had answers. I’ve been checking my phone every five minutes expecting either you, telling me you were fine and you would come back in a month or some army guy telling me you were dead. I was worried sick, Y/N.” Jay confessed, more tears covering his cheeks, his arms pulling you closer. You stroked his cheek with your thumb. “Hey, I’m here okay? I’m home. And I resigned. I don’t have to go back, ever. I’m not leaving you again, I love you, Jay.” Jay didn’t say anything. He just did the one thing he had been dreaming of doing every day for the last seven months. He kissed you.

Honeymooners
Tumblr media
Pairing: Maya Bishop x Reader
Prompt: "I can't believe it." "You can't believe what?" "I'm your wife, like we're really married."
WC: 567
The smile on your face hadn't faded one bit since you had first seen Maya waiting for you under the flower arch. You had expected that happiness to lessen a little when you got back to things after your honeymoon, but then you'd look down at your wedding band and remember just how lucky you were. Maya Bishop was your wife. She had proposed to you just a few months ago and wanted to marry you so badly that she had let the guys at the firehouse help plan the wedding. You knew that it had something to do with how much she had lost in the past. Maya liked living every single day that she could as the best one. That meant capitalizing on happiness, which to Maya was being your wife.
"Oh my god, I can't believe it," you said as you kicked your legs back and forth while sitting on the counter. Maya glanced up at you, a somewhat amused look on her face. She had definitely noticed that you had yet to come down from cloud nine. Seeing you so happy was great, but Maya didn't want to leave you so soon after getting married yet. She wished that the station could have run a few more days without her.
"You can't believe what?"
"I'm your wife, like we're really married," you said dreamily. Maya laughed as she stepped in between your legs. You placed your arms around the back of her neck and leaned down to press a couple of quick kisses to her lips. "I never really wanted to be anyone's wife, but I'm glad that I'm yours."
"Well, I didn't plan on marrying an amateur arsonist," Maya joked. She laughed at her own joke until you kicked at her. "That's not a very good way to treat your wife."
"Hmm, maybe I'll just have to make it up to you when you get back," you teased. Maya perked up at that, but her face fell when you slipped past her and walked out of the kitchen. You still had a couple more days left until you had to go back to work, but Maya had promised her team that she'd be back in today. Everybody was dying to hear all about the parts of your honeymoon that didn't include your hotel room. The two of you had booked a vacation to a little island in Central America that neither of you had really heard of before, but it was absolutely gorgeous and bound to become a popular vacation resort in the near future.
"Take a cold shower before you go. I'm going back to sleep for a little while. Have a good day Mrs. Bishop," you said. Maya gave you a quick kiss before you went fully back into the bedroom. She used the guest bathroom to take her shower, knowing that you wouldn't be so nice to her when she got home if she woke you up again after you fell back asleep. It was a minor miracle that Maya had even gotten you to wake up so easily to eat breakfast with her in the first place.
"You can't do that! It's dangerous for me to be distracted at work," Maya whined. You laughed as you peeked your head out from the bedroom doorway. Maya was standing in the living room with a big pout on her face.

You asked, I deliver: Athena prompts that came rolling out of my sleeve:
Mass casualties event. During a marathon in LA, a bomb has gone off. When first responders rush to the scene and start with triage, the 118 is among them as well. When a second bomb goes off, the city doesn't know what hit them. While coming up with a battle plan, two rookie police officers get the task to make a list of which first responders are encountered for and which ones are MIA. Sergeant Athena Grant's name is on that list. When her name gets called off, a few officers scoff. The two rookies, who have no idea who Sergeant Grant is as they have only been on the job for two weeks, are shocked when they hear that the woman survived earthquakes, mudstreams, almost drowning in the pacific and apparently put on a turn out suit to keep her husband from getting killed in a fire. Her husband, a firefighter captain at one of the houses near the police station, his reputation isn't much better when it comes to encountering danger... Both are compared to miracles; they always make it out, but will they be found now? What about the other members of the 118? How will their families handle this disaster?
Soulmates AU. It is common knowledge in the world: the moment that you fall in love with your soulmate, your eyes turn a shade of gold and you feel as if a new part of you has been unlocked. Some bonds are even this strong that they can communicate with each other from a distance and the stronger they get, more interesting abillities can appear. Amongst the firefighters of firehouse 118, the event of the golden eyes is a real thing: Henrietta Wilson her eyes turned a shade of gold the moment she fell in love with her wife Karen, while her best friend Howard "Chimney" Han believes that he will never fall in love with a soulmate, because he is such a desperate cause. Evan Buckley screws women for a living and claims that golden eyes are a myth, while the just appointed captain of their house, Robert "Bobby" Nash chooses not to meddle in such silly things as the golden eyes. He believes that he is not deserving of finding true love, especially after what happend to him before he moved to Los Angeles. That all changes when he meets a certain police sergeant...
How the world would look like if Athena died and Bobby stayed behind.
How the world would look like if Bobby died and Athena stayed behind.
Three times the cruise ship disaster could have gone differently.
A tiny bit younger Bathena. Athena has always been told by her doctor that she will have her menopause around the age of thirty, as literally every woman in her family has had this issue. It's why they all became moms at a young age. After having menopause symptoms for a good three years, Athena goes to work feeling a bit under the weather. When she eventually collapses at work, her captain Elaine has her send to the hospital. Both Athena and later her husband Bobby as well are in for the surprise of a lifetime...
Evolution is a scary thing. Acts of mother nature make sure that different kinds of evolution take place in nature. One day, people wake up with all kinds of powers. How will Bobby and Athena adjust to this different kind of life?
On a normal day on the job, Athena and two rookie officers find themselves on a crimescene of a man whose house seems to have turned in some kind of lab. Upon entering the lab, one of the rookie officers doesn't watch what he is doing and gets white powder blown straight into his face. When dispatch calls through that the dead suspect worked for a criminal group specialized in weaponizing deadly diseases, Athena and the two rookies are placed into immediate isolation. Not long after the start of isolation, one of the two rookies dies with horrible symptoms. That is the moment Athena truly knows that she has something to fear.

Station 5
Hello!
Here I am with another project... yes, another firefighters fic.... but this one is meant to be a little different. Rowan is kind of a disgraced firefighter back in Wendlyn so he moves to Orynth in the hope of a new life.  Aelin is the captain and a single mum... I only have 2 chapters down and it’s going very slowly. I will post the first one and we’ll see how it goes.
------
The silver-haired man walked through the heavy door of TFD HQ and reached the reception where he made the woman at desk aware that he was here for his appointment with Battalion Chief Gavriel Loewe. He strode with confidence down the hall once he was told the man was waiting for him. But that was a mask. A part of him was nervous but he saw that meeting as his opportunity as a clean slate to restart again after what happened in Wendlyn. This was his second chance and this time he was not going to mess up.
Once in front of the door he knocked and straightened his back and waited for his cue to enter. A deep male voice invited him in. He took a few steps in and stopped in perfect at ease position in front of the Chief’s desk “Officer Whitethorn, sir.”
The Chief rose his head from the report he was reading and tawny eyes met his. He sat back on his chair and invited Rowan to sit down “please.”
Rowan sat down and remained silent.
“So, Mr Whitethorn…” Gavriel stood and started pacing the space behind his desk “I was just reading your file. Served in the fire services in Wendlyn for ten years, made captain pretty quickly, labelled as a rising star…” he turned to Rowan and stared at him deeply “until your ego costed the lives of three of your men.”
Rowan closed his eyes for a second and the memories of that horrible night hit him hard. It had been one of the worst high rise fires they had seen in a while. It was pure inferno, the situation had deteriorated quickly. The Incident commander har ordered to evacuate the level, but Rowan thought he knew better and with his team went to finish the sweep. That’s when the flashover that he had missed hit them hard. Three of his men died on the spot, two suffered some injuries and he spent a month in the ICU and underwent multiple sessions of skin grafts to repair his burnt back. Scars and guilt was all was left of that night. He was suspended pending an enquiry on the incident and when his insubordination had been determined to be cause of the three men’s death, he was busted down to regular firefighter on half pay and put on a year probation, Rowan had decided that leaving was the best option. He had packed and moved to Orynth where some of his friends served in the TFD.
“I have learned from my mistakes sir.”
“Whitethorn, your service record was impeccable until that night. You were a promising firefighter and threw everything away just to play hero?”
Rowan breathed in and pushed down in annoyance at the man’s tone. He had been the object of far worse comments.
“The incident commander was outside, sir. I reacted with the information I had around me.”
“Your Commander ordered to evacuate which means that from the outside he had a reading of the fire you could not have. The fire had jumped floors, something that you could have not seen from the inside.”
Rowan sighed and looked away.
The chief sat back on his chair “As I said, your record was impeccable which is why I want to give you a second chance. I am a great believer in second chances, don’t make me regret it.” He added and Rowan relaxed for a second “I have assigned you to Station 5 under captain Galathynius. They have been looking for a candidate for a while and the captain has been nagging me. Well, there’s your second chance. Take it or leave it Whitethorn.”
Rowan groaned internally. A probie again? He wanted to protest but he knew that all considered it was a miracle that the chief was allowing him to even work actively again.
“Thank you sir.”
“Be careful, boyo, I do not tolerate the hero complex in my firehouses. You go out there and do what your captain tells you. Am I clear on this?”
“Yes, sir.”
“Good.” The man passed him a few documents and Rowan was out of the door.
He released the breath he had been holding for a while and left the building feeling like his life was finally back of track after a year of pain, guilt and regrets.
*
The following morning he woke up well before his alarm, got off the bed and walked in the still dark living room and bashed his foot against something hard. A loud swear and then with his fingers he flicked the lights on. The place was still a sea of boxes. All of his belongings had only arrived three days before. His cousin Sellene had helped, offering him her flat in Orynth. It was very central and they had worked a nice rental deal. However he still hadn’t been bothered to unpack, save for some vital item like cooking supplies and clothes.
Slowly he went to the kitchen started making coffee and decided to treat himself with a nice stack of pancakes. It was usually a Sunday treat but he decided that on that day he could indulge. He was starting his new life as a firefighter and this time… this time he was not going to screw it up.
An hour later he reached the station and parked his car kerbside, grabbed his duffel bag and stepped out. It was a lovely spring day and the doors of the firehouse were open. Truck and engine parked on the apron and he could notice a swarm of people walking around. Was he late already?
He straightened and walked in when a tall dark haired figure who looked familiar welcomed him “Rowan?”
“Lorcan?”
“Damn, you really made it, man.” They exchanged manly pats on their back and caught up for a while until a blonde woman appeared on the apparatus floor “Whitethorn, my office,” she barked and stormed away.
“Go, don’t anger her.”
Rowan followed the woman while a lot of eyes followed him as he walked the halls of the very modern firehouse. She disappeared through a door and he found her again sitting at a desk with a sign reading Captain Aelin Galathynius. Shit, she was the captain? She was what? A teenager? Surely it was a prank.
“Close the door and sit down.”
Rowan obeyed and sat opposite from her. The woman in front of him had hair as golden as the sun combed in a tight braid and the bluest eyes he had ever seen with a circle of gold in them. The dark blue of her uniform accentuating her features.
She threw his file on the desk “Chief Loewe assigned you to me. I read your file and what happened in Wendlyn,” he blue eyes locked on him and it felt as if she was staring into his soul “He thinks that you deserve a second chance. I think that I need a new candidate.” She paused for a moment “I do not care if you were a captain before, when we are on calls you stick to me or Aedion, my second. You follow orders like a good candidate, do you read me on this officer Whitethorn?”
“Yes, ma’am.” He answered through gritted teeth.
“Good. Now follow me.”
The captain stood and he followed her in the big kitchen were a few firefighters were gathered having breakfast. On their way there the captain stopped talking for a moment to talk with a woman with hair as white as snow and then kept going.
“Morning minions,”
“Morning cap. Brullo brought in pastries and doughnuts.”
The woman waited for the room to be full and then took the stage “It looks like our lords and masters have finally answered our prayers and we finally have the probie we have been asking for.”
Aelin pointed at Rowan “This is firefighter Rowan Whitethorn.” Aelin turned to Lorcan “Lieutenant Salvaterre “please give him the tour since you two seem buddies already.”
Aelin grabbed two pastries and walked away. She was walking along the corridor when a familiar voice greeted her “Mama.”
“Aisling, my love.” Aelin crouched and hugged her daughter and then smiled at her mother.
“Sorry, Aelin, she just wanted to say hi to you before going to the nursery. She was in a bit of a mood today.”
Aelin kissed her daughter again “that is fine, my love. Let’s go and say hi to everyone.”
She lifted her five year old daughter in her arms and walked back in the kitchen were a chorus of joyful screams met the little girl.
Aelin stared at her daughter being spoiled by her infinite collection of uncles and few aunties and smiled.
Aisling was what was left of her marriage with Chaol. They had been married three years. When she found out she was pregnant. Chaol had left her and served the divorce papers and washed his hands of his daughter releasing full custody to her. Luckily Aelin still had her parents and they had been delighted at playing grandparents and offered great support. The bastard had moved back to Adarlan and she hoped he would forever stay out her daughter’s life.
“Come on, menace, you have to go to school. Say hi to everyone.”
“Bye, bye.”
Aelin lifted her daughter again and went back to Evalin “I will come and get her tomorrow morning.” Aelin kissed her daughter’s cheek “I will take you to school tomorrow.”
The girl squealed happily and Aelin let her go.
On her way back to her office, two women stopped her “So,” said the tallest of the two “new hot sexy firefighter?”
Aelin turned to her two paramedics “Lys, you are dating Aedion. Elide you are married to Lorcan.”
“But the eyes love to wander…” added Elide with a mischievous smile.
Aelin sighed “More testosterone…”
The two women smiled and excused themselves saying that they had an ambulance to stock up.
Aelin finally made her way to her office and Aedion joined a few minutes later “So our new guy was a firefighter in Wendlyn.” He sat on the chair opposite her and ignore Aelin’s glare.
“He still remains a probie. That’s the deal I have with the chief.”
“Isn’t it a bit of a waste?”
Aelin’s glare intensified and Aedion knew he had to shut up.
“He will ride on truck and when is not my shadow, he will be yours.”
Aedion stared at his captain with a puzzled expression.
“Is that really necessary? He is not a newbie out of the academy.”
Aelin threw him a file “Only Chief and I know this.”
Aedion read the file and his brows furrowed deeper as he scrolled through the document “I got you, cap.” His voice low and dark “I will keep an eye on him.”
“Thanks Aed.”
She stared at her cousin leave the office and sighed deeply. Allowing Whitethorn to join her team was a gamble. Yes, she used to be a reckless firefighter too, but having Aisling had stopped everything. And usually none of her stunts involved her team mates. She had been reckless but never put any other life in danger.
Another deep sigh. She just hoped he would listen. Especially to a woman. Wendlyn was still behind with the times and they had very few female firefighters. Terrasen had been allowed women to serve a long time ago and Aelin had been in that first batch and still proudly had the record of first female captain. A few more followed but that first was still hers.
She just hoped Whitethorn was worth the risk she was taking.

For the five sentence fic game: buddie, and your randomly generated word is "escape" 🩶
I just said this - I think I am in trouble because I'm so bad at brevity haha!!
Eddie kisses Buck on an ordinary Tuesday afternoon, hidden behind the ladder truck in the garage bay of the firehouse. He kisses Buck and kisses him and kisses him, and Buck is helpless to do anything but slump back against the solid mass of the truck and let Eddie wash over him like a wave. A good wave though, Buck thinks vaguely, a wave made of sunlight and heat and sexy gasps and a firm thigh pressed between his legs. Not, like, a scary tsunami that rips away the person you love more than almost anyone in the world , only to be returned to you by way of a miracle, hours later. No, this is a good wave -- the best wave -- a wave that Buck would prefer never to escape.
Send me a ship/character(s) and a one word prompt and I will write a 5 sentence fic about it.

Egon with an Extroverted S/O
(a/n): proofread?? ehhh- not quite. was it something keeping me up all night? oh, absolutely. these are some egon headcanons I have if he were to have an extroverted s/o (aka reader). enjoy and don’t be shy to send in any requests as much as you’d like! (I would also appreciate feedback as I’m sorta new to this)
Tumblr media
from the very first day you stepped into the firehouse, it wasn’t exactly all head over heels and happily ever after
of course, egon was normally someone cooped up in the lab, tinkering or observing a project of his
however, it was when you applied for a job opening that you came into his life
egon didn’t ignore you, per say, but he did always tend to keep to himself
but here you come strollin’ along
waltzing into the lab
suddenly taking all of your time to show interest and offerings in his work?
yeah, pretty cool
but listening and actually understanding AND showing interest in his own???
like- you actually LISTENED TO HIM RAMBLING ABOUT SPORES AND MOLDS??
HE IS IN LOVE
so he starts letting you stay in the lab more (even sometimes more than literally everyone else)
being the extrovert you were, you were just like a beaming light and spirit
you were called his “sun” by the others
not to say that egon was grumpy, but you quite literally brightened up his life
ever since things between the both of you got more serious, he picked up smiling more
he also would find himself snickering at your jokes and even cracking a few himself
all just so he could see the way you threw your head back as you laughed (he thinks it’s the cutest thing)
he also wouldn’t just only talk about projects or anything, he would yearn to talk about you
but especially to talk to you
he loves the way you’re outgoing and extroverted
sure, he’s not extroverted himself even after being with you
but it does mean that he’s a hell of a lot admirable of the qualities you have
not only that but you had a certain flow to yourself
from what he’s closely observed ^
you definitely brought him out from his shell in various ways
he truly does think of you endearingly
you’re kind, funny, passionate
he considers that beautiful
one thing that you do that gets him completely flustered is when you pull him in by his tie for a kiss (he’s done for)
undoubtedly, he invites you to watch or assist him with his work
it’s almost as if you can read his mind when he asks for a specific tool
because before he can even open his mouth to ask for it, you’ve already most-likely got it in your hand for him
you’re such a people person, god
one of the many things he’s also noticed is how you’re so carefree
but especially that you love to laugh
and with others as well
does he brag to the guys about you? noooo, neverrrr
oh yes he does (even subtly at times)
he just thinks you’re really neat :))
plus, you were just always there for him
how did you stumble into his life? by a miracle
and how did you manage to even stay interested or drawn to someone like him? he couldn’t even hypothesize
because he simply had no possible answers or guesses
it was you just stumbling into his life
yet, it made his better
it really just baffles him.
he thinks to himself that you’re his other half, his right hand, his person
an unexpected one at that, but still
he is eternally grateful for you and solely you
and you are so endlessly enough

This wasn’t a fire; it was an inferno, and Dean knew they’d be lucky to get anyone out of this alive. They didn’t have long to sweep the building and listened intently for Bobby’s voice on their radios telling them to get out.
“Can you hear that?” Dean asked Benny, who shook his head.
“I can’t hear shit, Captain,” Benny responded.
Dean nodded but kept inching to where he thought he heard a whine. With the roar of the flames and the creaking wood and cracking walls, it was possible what he heard was just part of the fire. Then he heard a bark and saw movement ahead of him.
“Lafitte! Over here!” Dean approached the dog, faithfully standing by his owner, barking to raise the alarm.
“Hey, buddy. It’s alright. I’ve gotcha now,” he said, crouching to be closer to the dog.
“I’ll get him, Cap. You get the dog,” Benny said, and Dean nodded, picking up the dog and making his way out of the building before it crumbled.
“We need a medic over here!” Dean yells as he exits the building, Benny not far behind with the injured man over his shoulder. As Jack and Jo ran towards them with a gurney, Dean put the soot-covered dog down and held him close while the paramedics cared for the patient.
“It’s alright, buddy. They’re gonna take care of him. I gotcha.” The whining, distressed dog broke Dean’s heart, knowing his owner would be lucky to survive the journey to the hospital, let alone recover from his injuries.
“There’s a good boy,” Dean soothed. “I’ll get you a new home, bud. A real good one where they’ll take care of you. I promise.
Tumblr media
As hard as he tried, Dean couldn’t find Miracle a home. Bobby had been kind enough to let the dog stay at the firehouse for the past few days. Still, none of his colleagues could take him because they either already had a pet or lived alone and didn’t have someone to look after him when they were on a twenty-four-hour shift. He’d asked friends, too, and no one was willing to take on the responsibility. After five days, Dean took the dog to a shelter, and his microchip at least gave him a name: Miracle. It was an apt name for him, considering how they met.
It’d be hard to leave him at the shelter, but there was no other option. With both he and Y/N working shifts, he couldn’t see a way to make having a dog work. Sure, he only did two or three twenty-four-hour shifts a week, so having a dog would usually be fine. Still, there would be an issue when they were working the same day or night because leaving him alone for at least fourteen hours would be cruel.
But as soon as a handler reached for Miracle’s leash, the poor dog whimpered and cowered behind Dean’s legs.
“He seems to have a good bond with you,” the handler smiled. “Are you sure I can’t tempt you to adopt him?”
“I wish I could. My girlfriend and I,” it still sounded strange to say and made him grin stupidly every time he called Y/N his girlfriend. “We work shifts. It wouldn’t be fair on him.”
“We have flyers on the desk with highly rated dog walkers, and if you have family or friends who could take him when you’re working?”
“We sometimes work nights. I’m not sure we’d find a dog walker willing to do that. And my brother and sister-in-law just had a baby, so that wouldn’t work. My parents might, though.”
“Sounds like you have something to think about,” the handler chuckled.
Tumblr media
“A dog, Dean. Really?” He’d be terrified at the look on Y/N’s face if it wasn't for Miracle licking and drooling all over her. “We work shifts. What are we—no, you know what? You. What are you gonna do when you’re working, and I’m on nights? Did you even stop to think about that?” Taking her seriously while covered in slobber and scratching behind Miracle’s ears was hard.
“I spoke to Mom and Dad, and they’re happy to come by and walk him when we’re working and take him overnight when we’re both on nights. Come on, Y/N! You think I don’t know you love dogs, that you’re literally on the floor showering him with love right this second?”
“It’s not the point, Dean! The point is, this is a huge commitment, and we’ve only been living together for two months, and suddenly we’ve, no, I’m sorry, you got a dog? What if it’s too much? What if it—”
“It won’t. I promise. If this doesn’t work out, I’ll take him back to the shelter, okay, Princess?”
“Alright, fine,” Y/N huffed. “He can stay,” she put on her best high-pitched doggy voice while pouting her lips and letting the dog lick her face, and Dean grinned, knowing he’d won this particular battle.
“Uh, you sure about that, sweetheart? You’ve gone from hating the idea to letting a strange dog lick your face in record time!” he teased. Knowing how much she loved dogs, he knew Miracle would win her over quickly.
“Guess I’m just a sucker for stray dogs and naked guys,” Y/N winked, and he frowned. Did she mean the dog? Or—
“Get your clothes off, Dean!” she chuckled. “You’ve got a lot of making up to do for bringing a dog home without talking to me first, and I’m going to start collecting. Bedroom. Now.”
“Yes, ma’am,” he said, the sound muffled as he spoke while pulling his shirt over his head.
Tumblr media
Y/N had spent hours in the kitchen cooking family dinner. She loved these when she was younger. It was the one day of the week she could let everything with her father go and just be herself. Be a kid. At least until she got home. She wouldn’t go down that rabbit hole tonight, though, not when she had a house full of people to feed.
Grabbing dishes filled with potatoes and other side dishes, she walked from the kitchen into the dining room to put them on the table. “Dinner’s ready,” she called into the living room. Dean, John, and Sam were watching the football game, and Mary and Jess fussed over Matthew.
Smiling, Y/N walked back into the kitchen, and her stomach hit the floor. “Miracle, stop that right now!” she yelled, seeing the dog on his hind legs, front paws on the counter and eating the roast chicken. “Stop it!” she yelled again and walked over to pull the dog away. “Get down from—Dean! Get in here!”
“Bad dog!” Dean said, pointing at Miracle. “No treats for you!”
“No treats, Dean. Really? That’s all you got?” Y/N huffed and directed her attention to the offending pup. “Why is it always me, huh? Why do you never do this to your dad? You just love pissing me off, don’t you? You’re lucky you’re cute,” Y/N scowled at the dog while scratching his head. Miracle whined and put his head on her knee. “And cuddly,” she grumbled.
“Who wants pizza?” Dean clapped his hands and chuckled, trying to ignore the death stare his girlfriend was throwing his way.

“Dean!” Y/N screamed, and he ran upstairs and into the bedroom. Seeing the scowl on her face, he dreaded to think what Miracle had done now. The dog seemed to love tormenting her for some reason.
“These are Louboutin’s, Dean! My favourite pair of shoes, and he’s just chewed them to shreds!”
“Sweetheart, they’re just shoes. I can get you new—”
“These are not just shoes! These are eight hundred dollar shoes!”
“Eight hun—who in their right mind needs an eight hundred dollar pair of shoes?” It slipped out before he could think about it, and as he met Y/N’s gaze, tears swam in her eyes, and her arms dropped to her sides, each hand holding the remnants of a shoe. Dean swore she’d never looked more defeated than right now.
With tears rolling down her cheeks, she stormed past him and out of the bedroom, fleeing faster than he’d ever seen her move.
“Y/N. Princess, come on! Let’s talk about this!” he pleaded, running after her. “Bad dog!” he yelled behind him at Miracle, sitting in the corner of their bedroom, looking all innocent and cute.
He got to the bottom of the stairs just in time to see her throw the shoes in the trash, pick up her purse and car keys and slam the front door behind her.
Dean sighed when he felt Miracle’s fur tickle his fingers. “What am I gonna do with you, huh? Couldn’t go for a cheap pair, could ya? You know I’m going to have to replace those, right? Eight hundred bucks for shoes! Lost her damn mind...” he mumbled as he grabbed the lead, Miracle trotting happily beside him, knowing it was walk time.

She’d had her worst shift in a while. There had been a gas explosion near the elementary school that had sent multiple casualties to the hospital. The incident has been truly horrific and spawned multiple fatalities. These kinds of accidents were the worst part of her job.
Getting home a few hours later than usual and exhausted, Y/N went straight to bed. She hadn’t eaten since breakfast, but dealing with those types of injuries made her lose her appetite.
Slipping out of her shoes and pulling her scrubs and bra off, Y/N moved to her side of the bed, ignoring her usual sleepwear in favour of her underwear and the vest she wore under her scrub top.
Sighing at the golden lump sprawled out on her side of the bed, she sighed, not in any mood to have this fight with him again. Encouraging him to move with a gentle shake, Miracle raised his head to look at her.
“Time to move, bud,” she said, nudging him to get him moving, but Miracle put his head back down on the mattress, ignoring her completely, and she sighed, tears welling in her eyes.
“Dean,” she whispered, nudging him instead. Miracle might not listen to her, but she knows he’ll listen to Dean. He always does.
“Dean!” she says a little louder, and he jumps awake.
“Hey, baby,” Dean rasped sleepily.
“Can you get him to move so I can get into this damned bed?” Y/N asked, defeated.
“Alright, buddy. Time to get down,” Dean said to the dog, who immediately obeyed the command. Y/N sighed, and her shoulders sank, unable to stop the tears.
“You okay, sweetheart?” Dean asked, noticing her slumped figure and wet eyes.
“Yeah. Bad shift,” Y/N replied, climbing into bed and wrapping herself in the duvet.
“I saw the explosion on the news. Do you want to talk about it?” Dean asked, and Y/N smiled slightly at the kindness of his gesture.
“No. I just want to sleep.”
“Come here,” Dean murmured as he pulled her into his body and wrapped his arms around her.
Miracle jumped back onto the bed and tried to settle in between them again, but Y/N knew if she let him, he’d shove her out of the bed.
“Miracle, down!” she commanded, and of course, he ignored her and began stretching his paws out, trying to push her to the edge of the bed.
“Miracle, get down!” Dean said sternly, and once again, the pup immediately obeyed and jumped off the bed and out of their bedroom; hopefully, Y/N thought, to spend the rest of the night in his own bed downstairs.
“That dog hates me,” Y/N huffed, and Dean chuckled before kissing her forehead.
“He does not,” Dean tried, but Y/N only scoffed.

“Alright, buddy. I can’t live like this anymore. It’s getting us nowhere,” Y/N said to Miracle, and Dean tried to hold his laughter as his girlfriend tried to level with a dog. “We need to call a truce so we can live our best lives and coexist without me yelling at you all the time and you chewing up all my shoes and eating the Sunday roast.”
Dean looked on, amused, as Y/N crouched in front of Miracle. “What d’ya say, huh? You think we can be friends?” she said, scratching behind his ear, and Miracle barked in return.
“I’m gonna take that as a yes! Now, let’s shake on it.” Holding her hand out, Miracle quickly lifted his paw and placed it in her hand. “Good boy!” Y/N said and scratched his chin, prompting Miracle to step forward and lick her cheek.

As Y/N walked Miracle in the park, she made a mental note to herself to find another route for the winter months. It was getting darker earlier, and she’d worked in hospitals long enough to know what could happen to women walking through parks alone in the dark.
Suddenly, Miracle took off running, pulling his lead right out of her hand, and sped off towards the bushes where he’d undoubtedly torment the life out of a poor squirrel or five.
“Stupid dog,” she mumbled as she briskly walked to catch up with him. “Would never do that to Dean, would you? No, because he’s your buddy, and I’m just… I don’t even know what I am to you. A pushover, probably.”
Walking over to the bushes, Y/N hears rustling and is about to call Miracle, but a man’s voice startled her.
“Well, hey there. What’s a pretty girl like you doing here alone in the dark?” The stench of alcohol almost made her reel back in disgust, but she knew the worst thing she could do was show weakness to the stranger.
Before she could answer, she heard the patter of feet and Miracle barking as he ran from the bushes and stood before her, protecting her from the man with vicious snarls and barks.
Y/N was about to attempt as swift an exit from the park as Miracle’s scare tactics didn’t seem to be working. The dog seemed to come to the same conclusion and lunged at him.
Finally getting the drunk to back off, she wasted no more time getting them both out of there quickly. “Good boy,” Y/N praised with ear scratches. “Let’s go home, buddy.”
For the first time since she’d walked Miracle alone—because he was always on his best behaviour for Dean, he didn’t pull ahead of her. Instead, he walked calmly right by her side all the way home.
“Well, it looks like you two are getting along better,” Dean said when he came home later that night, seeing Y/N and Miracle snuggled up on the couch together.
“We had a traumatic night, and I think we’ve finally buried the hatchet. Ain’t that right, my good boy!”

Dean climbed the stairs quietly, not wanting to wake Y/N. She was supposed to finish her shift at seven last night but had to stay on until the wee hours of the morning.
He walked into the bedroom and smiled at the sight before him. Despite constant protests about the dog being on the bed, Y/N was curled on her side, sound asleep, snuggled into Miracle’s back with a small smile curving her lips.
“Hey, buddy,” Dean whispered, scratching behind his ears. “Were you a good boy for Grandma and Grandpa?”
“He’s always a good boy.” Y/N’s voice was heavy with sleep, and she smiled hazily at him. “Your dad dropped him off at about eleven. He would’ve kept him all night, but I thought I was getting home earlier than I did.”
“Sorry I woke you, baby. Go back to sleep. I was coming up to take Miracle for a walk,” Dean glanced at the pup and frowned when he remained where he was, not even his tail wagging. Walks were his favourite thing, and usually, he couldn’t wait to get outside and cause mischief.
“It’s okay,” Y/N yawned, “I should probably get up anyway.”
“Uh, no. Absolutely not!” Dean placed his hands on his hips, trying to show her he meant business. “It’s only gone seven. I got off shift early. When did you get home?”
“Four,” Y/N yawned again. “Then I took him for a walk.”
Dean nodded, now understanding why Miracle wasn’t keen to go out again. Then again, he wouldn’t leave the bed with Y/N cuddling into him like that, either. “So you went to bed when?”
“About five-thirty,” she answered.
“Nuh-uh, nope. Not a chance in hell you’re getting up right now,” Dean huffed as he shrugged out of his flannel, unfastened his jeans, kicked them off and pulled off his socks. “We are going to sleep for a few more hours.” Dean insisted before directing his attention to the dog. “Daddy’s home now, so you’re gonna have to move, buddy.”
With a huff, Miracle stood from his spot and walked to the bottom of the bed, dropping down heavily on Y/N’s feet. “Did he just give you sass? Oh, how the tables have turned!” Y/N chuckled, and Dean shook his head in disbelief.
“Apparently,” Dean huffed as he climbed into bed. “Now, come here, baby. I need some sugar!”
“Sugar?” Y/N chuckled sleepily.
“Yeah. I want some of my girl’s sugar,” he grinned, shuffling as close as he could and opening his arms to invite her into his embrace. “Come here, Princess.”
Y/N gladly accepted Dean’s invitation, shifting as much as she could with a dog on her feet, and rested her head on his chest. She hummed contentedly as he wrapped his arms around her, and she quickly fell into a deep sleep.
