I rarely pass along tags but you should do this one and tag me if you do so I can see, comfort watches are my absolute FAVORITE.

This is a BL blog and I've watched most of them, so I will be picking BL. But I will only be picking BL I am rewatching for comfort right NOW.

Some of these may surprise. Ready?

My Top 10 Comfort BL's right NOW

1 kiss x kiss x kiss - perfect scandal (short)

My favorite of this series because it's basically office romance sexy bits we all wanted from Old Fashion Cupcake.

2 Jun & Jun

his show made up for in style what it lacked in substance. I like fluff. I loved this. I smile every moment I'm watching. This is very much MY style of BL.

3 Love is Science (BL cut)

Mark and Ouwen gotta be one of my all time favorite side dishes. LIS? is a noona romance with added mature side couple as well as these two, mostly interwoven. It’s a big buy in just for Mark & Ouwen but WORTH IT, and some kind soul uploaded a BL cut to YT. Everything is a touch quirky but the BL boys are beautiful, earnest, and high heat. It's one of Taiwan's favorite dynamics: the bisexual himbo meets the confident gay, but they are just LOVELY, plus tiny queer family at the end.

4 2 Moons 3

What can I say, it's utter trash but there is something about the main couple I love. A Thai pulp that felt like it came out 5 yrs ago with many of the flaws inherent to that time and studio system, including manufactured angst and convoluted plot, but an ultimately sweet main couple that (as a pairing) feels a bit more modern and is satisfying to watch. This will probably go down in history as one of the few BLs where I genuinely didn’t care about any of the side couples.

5 Love Class 2

But only "my couple." ( the mature student and the TA). I still hold that they probably should’ve had their own series.

6 Big Dragon

I didn't love this when it first aired but I am coming around to it more on the rewatch. (I may even up its score from 7 to 8 if the eventual movie sticks the landing). This is a pairing that proved itself to be a lot more sophisticated than I expected with nods at kink in a more respectful way than Mame could ever dream, plus excellent chemistry.

7 Why R U? Korea

The Korean remake of Why RU? is BOTH bizarro land, and EXACTLY what I expected. There is something comforting in watching the Cliff's notes version of a show I enjoyed before just in a different BL style. I don't know why I like this one so much, but I really do.

8 Takara & Amagi

I gnawed on my knuckles and squealed a lot with this show first time around. Now I still love it but I'm more calm. It is beyond charming: soft and gentle, packed with cuteness and high school angst, thirst, & yearning.

9 About Youth

A truly lovely little coming of age high school BL with a classic YA low drama but high angst and an earnest depth.

Clearly I'm having a bit of a high school phase because I've been thinking of doing this one next:

10 My School President

Yes, we’ve seen it all before, but I still ADORED this. And there is a lot to be said for the classics being re-executed perfectly. Who let my BL be this wholesome and funny?

The way Takara doesn't often dare to compliment Amagi because he knows he'll get angry and he compliments him when he's not there to other people and not to him because he loves him and he wants him to be happy and compliments don't seem to make him happy. Takara doesn't know what to say to make Amagi happy (because Amagi doesn't know how to make himself happy) and so he feels safer in silence.

And the way Amagi has spent a lifetime being ignored an abandoned by people and sees it as just the way his life is, the way he is and that no one will ever care for him, love him, because he is not meant to be loved or to be tender or to have someone care for him. Amagi cannot trust compliments or kindness because he has nothing to compare them to, nothing that he believes in about himself.

One of the most interesting things here is that neither Takara nor Amagi truly show what they're feeling to each other or even most of the people around them. Takara gives the world a blank face and Amagi gives the world a smile he doesn't feel or believe. They're both wearing masks they don't really know how to remove. The times they're most honest often isn't with each other but it's about each other.

But it is Takara who has to step up and be clear for Amagi and so it is. Even if it's just to reveal exactly how easy he is to make jealous, even if it's to reveal how possessive he is, he's the one who must step up and be honest because Amagi needs reassurance and comfort and to understand how much he matters. And then the little request and the returned jealousy and the understanding they reach in this moment.

And then, in the end... Takara has helped make Amagi a new home, a new happiness, a new place that he can finally be himself, even if that means discovering new parts to himself he never even knew.

Before this moment, Amagi's happiness was performative, a way of being who he thought people wanted him to be. But now? This is happiness as he wants it, as he sees it. Takara has given him acceptance, a home, a feeling of love and tenderness and being cherished with just a little dash of jealousy and lots and lots of love.

Takara Kun to Amagi Kun continues to make me so so happy each week. I’m in love with this show and all of its characters. They’re just so real and loving. Takara and amagi are both flawed in their own ways but also just the nicest people who work to develop their relationship together. It’s nice to be able to watch a sweet show like this while I deal with my real world issues. It gives me a break and allows me to just enjoy some nice tv.

At the start I was expecting takara to be one of those cold, stoic male protagonists that are kinda mean to a degree and I’m so happy that’s not what he’s like at all. On the outside he appears slightly stand-offish and cold but in reality he’s just as dorky and dumb (affectionate) as amagi. They work really well together and really care about each other.

I’m very grateful for this show and it’ll probably end up as one of my favourites. Makes my heart so warm.

Hi P'ABL. Not sure if you have answered something like this before, I couldn't find it with search, but what are your favorite "Oh" scenes? Either "Oh I'm (or he's) gay" or "Oh I'm in love with this person". Asking this question after rewatching Ep 4 of Bad Buddy and watching Qian's reaction to seeing BL novels in Zhi Yuan's room.

Pretty much most of Love Sick. It's kinda the point of the show. But you can never get away from this one:

Possibly one of the most iconic moments in all BL.

Anytime the character starts swearing and is mad at himself when he realizes he is in love: Semantic Error, The Eclipse.

Pretty much all 3 leads swapping both of these "ah ha" moments back and forth in Light On Me

Honorable mention: Someone ELSE in the story's "oh HE'S in love with him?!"

Poor Takara constantly thinking it's his friends coming up to him and touching him only to turn around and see that it's Amagi and wishing he hadn't pushed him off and had pulled him closer instead.

The gentle nature of Amagi's discomfort with physical contact with Takara coming together because he's so jealous of the people who are comfortable touching him and just wants to be one of them is so accurate to that kind of feeling.

I love them both so much, the way Takara loves Amagi but is used to hiding his own feelings so much that it rarely shows and the way Amagi loves Takara and smiles and bounces with it but doesn't know how to handle his own urges and so shies away from them.

Takara embraces his feelings but doesn't show them well and Amagi constantly shows feelings but fears his own deeper ones.
