#THAT WOULD FIT FOR A MADOKA MAGICA OPENING

Note
HOLD UP, since your mom bought Rebellion for you as a birthday present, is today your birthday?!
Also…how was it…? I hope you liked it! (Of course if you have trouble processing what happened, feel free to ask)
That was the best movie
i have ever watched.
i went through all 5 stages of grief within the matter of 5 minutes.
SPOILERS FOR MADOKA MAGICA REBELLION BELOW!
i feel like i have never been so touched by a piece of media in my life
since the movie is so long, im not going to touch on every part, only the ones that were the most important to me
I WAS VERY CONFUSED AT THE BEGINNING. it was a huge surprise that the world had been fake (pretty much), because i was almost positive that was homura in her early stages of time travelling....NO. everything had already happened...
when they had begun talking about how the world was created by a witch, i was confused on how Bebe was relevant, since there had been no previous mention of them...and for them to imagine this ENTIRE WORLD just didnt sit right with me. once they started to mention it a little more, i had immediately known it was homura.
still, i started to get emotional when the world started to burn, and it was revealed that homura really was behind this. homura had been the thing she had sworn not to trust, what she hated with all her heart, trapped in her own cage she was trying to escape from...quite literally. that in itself was pretty beautiful to me :(
after all of that, when homura had pretty much sentenced herself to death to make sure that madoka would not be taken advantage of, madoka ended up trying so hard to save homura...i think that their love for eachother is definitely mutual, even if it seems like homuras might overpower madokas, i know that madoks truly cares about keeping homura safe and even in a moment of sacrifice madoka still just longed to be with homura and didnt want her to end that way, it was such a heartwarming moment
especially when god madoka came down to help homura, i started tearing up, it was really pretty and i had these lighst going on in my room and i was wondering the whole time "what does fantasy mean by people dont like what homura does at the end? everything seems fine right now!"
........
HOMURA
WHAAAAAATTTTT?!???!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Holy FUCKING SHIT I WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT.
I THINK THAT WAS MY *FAVORITE* PLOT TWIST THAT I HAVE EVER SEEN IN AN ANIME...IT SERIOUSLY BROUGHT OUT ALL THE EMOTIONS IN ME
i was STARING at my tv with my mouth open i could not believe it.....AND WHEN SHE STARTED TO SMILE, I GOT SUPER EXCITED!! I tend to accidently headcanon characters insanity as the smiling insanity, as if they broke, and i had started drawing homura like that but figured it wasnt fitting for her.....DAMN WAS I WRONG!!!!
i LOVE how homura had become an obsessive....not quite lustful, but more...PURELY EVIL DEMON....who had seperated madokas human form and god form to create a madoka who would be able to live happily (i believe?) with an altered memory...GOD, that scene was so POWERFUL, ive been stuck thinking about it all day today....DAMNIT HOMURA, I LOVE YOU EVEN WHEN YOU ARE EVIL!!! And this insane character development just made me love her even more!!!!!!!
then, at the end, when madoka had ended up quickly reuniting with her god form....and the way that homura said that the ribbons look better on madoka....JESUS...i was THIS CLOSE TO CRYING!!! it was almost a bittersweet ending, and that was the best route they couldve chosen...i couldnt tell if i felt sad, at peace.....it was really really beautiful!
HONORABLE MENTIONS:
that scene with the flower field....THE SCENE WITH THE FLOWER FIELD HAD ME NEAR SOBBING...i thought it was gorgeous and the way that they hugged...the thought that this would be one of the last times homura would be able to hear madoka say those heartfelt things to her, just seeing her sit there....it was really blissful :(
THE SCENE WITH THE STATUE TURNING TO TAR!!!! that was AMAZING symbolism, holy shit! i just kinda stared at the tv for a little bit...its as if homuras love was infecting madoka....i love it so much.
i cant quitteee remember this one very well, but when madoka started t-posing and sunk into the ground, becoming this liquid, the homura becoming liquid, then a mini homura smashing it up? I DONT THINK IM REMEMBERING IT RIGHT, but i just know that it kind of hit me, it reminded me of no matter how hard homura had kept trying to save madoka, she kept dying...and all she went through within all of the timelines were ultimately very small and hardly mattered, since in the end, she failed...THATS HOW I SAW IT!
(and also, the fight with mami was AMAZING!!!! The music, the combat, the intensity, oh my god!! and when homura shot herself, and then held it up to mami, i was like WHATS GOING ON?!?!?)
this movie was absoloutely beautiful, touching, intense, i....literally have no words to describe it.
I PROBABLY WOULDVE NEVER GOTTEN TO WATCHING IT IF YOU DIDNT RECCOMEND IT TO ME FANTASY!!! THANK YOU SO SO SO SO SO MUCH...that was *seriously* one of the best experiences of my life, i went through so much in such a little amount of time...the fascinating scenery with the witches and the everything looked amazing as always, this was just a very very special and UNIQUE movie to me and i stayed involved the whole time...I DONT THINK ANYTHING THAT ILL EVER WATCH WILL TOP THAT, HONESTLY.....
thank you SO SO SO SO SO MUCH!!!! I LOVED IT!!! 10000000/10.....it genuinely couldnt have been better!!!!! and it only made me love homura even more!!!!!!!!
(ALSO, TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION, it is not my birthday! my birthday is in 9 days, march 16th! STILL COUNTS AS A BIRTHDAY PRESENT!)

Notes on Tomoe in Madoka Magica
As a follow up to my earlier post about Walpurgisnacht's mandala, multiple people have pointed out to me that the design also features what looks like tomoe, a comma-like swirl symbol used in Japanese (especially Shinto) design.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Two tomoe together, courtesy of Wikipedia. Note that the tomoe is the black part and not the white part; that really tripped me up the first time I looked at this.
Obviously the tomoe as a sacred symbol would fit with the whole "divine halo" aspect of the mandala, although it's a little odd that a Shinto symbol would be present in what is usually a Buddhist piece of art. I don't know enough about it to comment further at this point.
But you know where this symbol--or something very much like it--does pop up? Homura's shield.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The upper and lower reservoirs of the sand timer on Homura's shield--the part that allows her to control time--have the same comma shape. How about that.
I didn't pick up on this earlier, but tomoe are in Homulilly's countdown signs, too! They also appear later on in Rebellion, when similar shield-like images pop up as she is marching to the gallows.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
why do they have teeth and smile just like the Clara Dolls, why why why
Oh, and one other thing I forgot to mention in my earlier mandala post: Homulilly has one, too.
Tumblr media
It's hard to see much detail in the screenshots, and her body is in the way, but the outer ring has the same triangle-in-a-circle design as the outer ring of Walpurgisnacht's mandala, with extra bonus molars to boot. That makes three characters who are portrayed with mandalas thus far: Walpurgisnacht, Madokami, and Homulilly.
What that means, of course, is open for interpretation and debate, but I think it's interesting that these visual patterns and parallels keep turning up as I continue to look for them.
Astute fans will also notice that the character for tomoe, 巴, is the same character as Mami's last name. They will also note that Walpurgisnacht and Mami have the same voice actor, Kaori Mizuhashi (who also voices Tatsuya, if you're curious). Are the tomoe in Walpurgisnacht's mandala a reference to this? I have no idea, but if not, it's certainly a weird coincidence.

Am I? Wow thanks for the welcome, and for that I noticed my username, was little weird read the name lol, but is fine call me Nerish.
I think you have a very adorable and cool drawing style, I really like how they all look so fluffy, and I think the expressions are really good. I want a Yuichi axolotl plush.
About the timeline, the antagonist make me feel curious if it's focused on the turtles enemies in which case it might refer more to Big Mama or Draxum, if it's Usagi Yojimbo I just think of Jei, if it's Space Usagi I think of Akira, losing that hand must have been a more satisfying scene than it actually was.
But, yes I meant more like Princess Miya (lovely name), the magical girls gave me Madoka Magica vibes, just me? I just can't with the designs are so pretty.
For the Usagis I hope they can fix their things, I understand the Miyamoto's POV, but how feels Yuichi? i'm just curious, for now I stop here, also goodluck with your anon doesn't eat the other user, your last update of princess Miya was most adorable, I think like Raph I want to put myself on the waitlist.
Nerish.. of course you're one of my earliest followers... (everyone is!)
Tumblr media
Oh yes, an Axolotl Yuichi plush would be so good! And very sensory appealing, with his fin-like ears and cheeks. Yes. I want one too... For the timeline, I did just answer an ask about potential characters which do include potential villains! I have not yet read Space Usagi, but that might be an interesting one.. yes.. -takes notes- We'll see Neko Ninjas, Big Mama, (I don't think Draxum would fit well into the story, since he's a Yokai extremist-- he would have no reason to attack or prey on the people he swears to protect), the Krang will make an appearance in terms of the bad future from the movie (What are the Usagis up to in that time? How did they handle the Krang?) and yeah, you know, some of the feudal lords like Hebi and Hikiji, Jei, and some other stuff. It might be cool. Final Question : How Does Yuichi Feel? Well, at first, it seemed fine. Miyamoto (8) asks Yuichi (30) if he will be his sensei. Mizuki and Shuji are supportive, after all it's the Usagi way, so they tell their kid to ask Yuichi. Shuji thinks his brother is a much better samurai anyway. Miyamoto looks up to his uncle because of this fact (he adores his father as well) and this is when the two of them are the closest.
Tumblr media
-- Miyamoto (9) watches Yuichi and Shuji (31) leave one day before scheduled training. Miyamoto is a little less than a year into his training, but he still isn't allowed to go on these particular errand runs with the twins. They are usually quick about it, but also extremely careful. Maybe when Miyamoto has more training, he can join them.
Tumblr media
-- Some time has passed, and Yuichi (33) seems.. different. Maybe it's the bandage over his eye. The now open wound. The warm blood dripping down his face. Maybe it's the faces that Miyamoto (11) makes. Maybe it's the fabric on his skin, making him feel clammy. Claustrophobic. Annoyed. Panicked. Something is wrong. A voice in his head echoes the thoughts he relayed to his nephew. Miyamoto is doing his best, working as hard as he can, trying to get better, trying to please his Uncle. Why is he so different now? Miyamoto doesn't understand. He's in disbelief, he's angry and frustrated.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Being the oldest is hard. The weight of the world sits on your shoulders, and it's a task that even the strongest Samurai can't handle. But he has to. He has to protect his family, but he needs to teach Miyamoto. If he fails as a Sensei, then he's failed as an Uncle. A Brother. A Son. A Samurai. With Miyamoto's sudden disappearing habits, Yuichi is scared of what will happen if Miyamoto doesn't come back. Would he be the reason his brother no longer has a son? He would fail his family. He would have no honor. It's a crushing thought.

what is the project idea: STORY
A 9 year old girl named Joy is alone in her room most days. Her mother is neglectful and dependent, her father isn’t present anymore, she has no siblings and no longer attends school. Her life seems classically tragic and traumatic. However, Joy finds happiness and an escape from her world through magical worlds of the circus and fantasy fiction. Through her father’s study, she reads books over and over again that open a new realm of possible daydreams and new story ideas for Joy, the books tell her about circus troupes old and new, circus animals, the carnivals. Fiction or non-fiction, Joy uses these books to create her own world of fun as a way to block out the struggles she faces in her daily life. Her dream, to run away to the circus. One night, Joy experiences a dream about a circus she read about in an old history book. They were one of the biggest circus troupes in 19th century North America, yet their performances came to a sudden end after all of the members reportedly abruptly died without a trace. Their case was forever left unsolved and was considered a forgotten urban legend or a myth for years to come. What wasn’t known about them, is that this circus was a gang of already dead souls that were employing performers to keep themselves alive by consuming their souls and leaving them for dead. People stopped coming to see their performances, with the members becoming progressively older and older and being unable to perform to the best of their ability, and the troupe eventually died after being unable to keep their souls sustained. Joy, reimagining this troupe, is enticed to join them by the circus’ Ringmaster. Little does she know, she will experience the evil of the dark side of her Dream Circus.

The initial idea of a comic changing to a story book was mainly due to the fact I had very poor time management and creating multiple comic pages would not be something I could complete in the time I have left with this project. Along with this, this story would fit well with the storybook look.
The story is set in the early 2000s, with the return of a circus from the 19th century. The story looking like an older, early 2000s illustrated storybook directed towards children would fit with the theme. The character designs are reminiscent of older, western styles of the circus and how they operate, and the character of Joy is inspired by younger characters and actors from older media in the 2000s.
The story follows an innocent theme of the circus and the carnival, twisted with dark themes of neglect, spirits and murder. Having these dark ideas in a book that looks to be for children gives an uncanny and unsettling feeling, and the juxtaposition between the two is interesting to me.
This juxtaposition is inspired by games and media such as Can Your Pet, Madoka Magica, OMORI, Poppy Playtime, Kinito PET, Doki Doki Literature Club, Tattletail, Among The Sleep and more.
The story also relates to the idea of childhood nightmares and how sleep can affect children. Children experience nightmares that are usually based on their over dramatised version of life and reality, and based on things that they have recently seen and find scary. However, I want to leave it somewhat ambiguous if she is dreaming, or if she isn't. The fact that her dreams materialise can be left for interpretation, do they actually come to life, or is she hallucinating and experiencing delusions?
This is inspired by media such as The Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland and Over the Garden Wall. These pieces of media are directed towards a younger audience, yet have dark themes involved.
Additionally, many children’s tales are quite twisted, yet have been told to children for years. Stories such tales written by Brothers Grimm, like Little Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Gretlel, The Girl Without Hands and The Robber Bridegroom. Themes of death and mutilation contrasted with the childish tale that is also illustrated by hundreds of illustrators in a cute and round style.
The idea of infiltrating and interacting with dreams comes from movies and media such as Inception, Black Mirror and Paprika. It’s also inspired by the idea of dreams coming to life. With the ending being left somewhat ambiguous, I’ve taken inspiration from movies such as Before I Wake and the Sixth Sense in that the child characters interact with their dreams and hallucinations, yet there is still the question if they are real or just a dream.

I am listening to a kdrama podcast about A Time Called You, a show that had some basic time travel and body swaps.
I like this podcast. I am even a member of their Patreon and I bought a shirt with their logo that was just delivered yesterday, so I am by no means a hater.
But they are really getting annoying in this episode about how weird and crrraazzzy the show was and how confusing the plot was. Like to the point of saying don’t drive off the road if you’re driving when we explain this basic plot point, and oh I just said a sentence about this show and now I feel like I need mental help because it doesn’t make sense!
I hope they never watch anime. Revolutionary Girl Utena or Madoka Magica would break them.
I guess this fits with the growing taste disparity I’ve noticed, where they don’t like silly comedy or imaginative premises. I guess the spousal person and I are much higher in openness to experience than they are.
I didn’t want to say this to them because it’s mean but I felt a need to write about it somewhere, so personal blog they will never see it is.
I did comment on their Instagram to ask if they’d seen Get Out, since they thought one character being in a “brain cave” in her mind while another character controlled her body was so weird.

MadoHomu MizuEna.
Or MizuMafu-
Do you see my vision???
Mizuki who doesn't really know what they want in life other than the peace that they already have. (A part of them wants to wish that they were 'born a girl', but they can't stop clinging to the care that their sister gave them and their journey of identity makes up a big part of who they are)
Mafuyu honestly fits Homura better personality wise (but MizuEna is more popular even though these last English Niigo Events make Mizuki look whipped asf), they've been doing this so long that they don't even know who they are anymore- struggling and struggling and struggling again. They KNOW it's useless, that it's futile, but Mizuki was the only thing they had repeat after repeat.
The scene opens up like Madoka Magica did, but it's Mizuki and their sister (maybe on the phone instead of in person, so it's got that extra longing while maintaining the comfort) encouraging Mizuki to be a little flashy.
Mafuyu enters coldly just like Homura did, but they don't have the same steadfast, forward approach that Homura used. Instead, it's just Mizuki being drawn to the person that they saw in their dreams, and Mafuyu trying to keep up their walls hoping for safety.
Now, I think Kanade and Ena would be Sayaka and Kyouko which doesn't make /too/ much sense at first, but hear me out because
Kanade and Sayaka have a LOT of parallels and similarities, especially in dealing with their own selflessness. Kanade has the same route with music that got her dad into the hospital (even though it was so far from her fault that happened bruh), and she takes comfort in music, just like Sayaka.
Again, like Sayaka, she uses her wish to heal her dad, but it doesn't work. He goes back to being the same unstable song writer that he was before he hospitalized himself and Kanade has to deal with the aftermath (and the formath, you know when her father is following the same line as Souske (was that his name?) did)
Kanade realizes that her music can't save the people closest to her and she throws herself into being a magical girl.
Ena and Kyouko is the biggest stretch (also because I watched the show ages ago and don't remember them expanding much on her backstory other than implying that her wish was just to live and also that she stole food?) Ena definitely isn't as territorial as Kyouko, but she wants to keep living so, of course, she tries to chase Kanade out because she needs to be able to have those Grief Seeds.
Similarly, she scoffs at Kanade's obsessive selflessness, but comes to eventually wish that she had someone like Kanade (unlike Ena who jumps at the idea of being saved- I know they'll get their moment, but I'm not sure how)
Only, in this version, Mami wouldn't exist, so it would be much more of a slow burn, and also we wouldn't overlook the fact that Hitomi canonically wants to die. (I thought about replacing her with Rui, since Hitomi doesn't become a magical girl and is mostly off screen when shit starts to really go down- but I would feel bad not giving Rui more of an important role, since it was sad that Hitomi ended up SO sidelined)
Do you see my vision or am I crazy?? Do you see the vision anyways??? (I am crazy)
I can't decide if it goes down more similarly to Sekai (Mizuki and Kanade watch Mafuyu mostly from afar without seeing through their persona- only to find their true self when they're maybe battling a witch?) or more similarly to Madoka (wherein Mafuyu firmly plants themself as the antagonist in the same way that Homura does and the sins of the Magical world are slowly revealed).
But you know. I mostly just have been rotating 'ha, Mizuki, Madoka' in my head seeing all the Madoka fan art and wrote this entire thing down frantically in one sitting after seeing you reblog a Madoka picture.
OUGH. this is excellent i'm rotating it in my brain forever

Oh my god help I tried to submit this ask before and I got told a tumblrbeast ate it was it that long kjsfhjdshf. I'm so sorry if this is the second time you got this ask from me.
Me & my friend actually came up with a not-so-insane sounding theory: Marius is not from the in-game timeline. (This has basis in Marius third solo SSR, but I won't say anything you don't already know. You've seen that illustration, I can tell you it's seriously related to that!)
I'm thinking Madoka Magica here. Due to various events, Marius loses both Giann and Rosa. Unable to take the loss of both of them, he builds a time travel machine (only able to go to another timeline, not the past in his timeline), and sets out to save them both.
I'd like to imagine Marius at the start, so optimistic and eager, so helpful and open. He practically wore his heart on his sleeve around the first few Rosa, then gradually forced himself to close it off because he kept on failing. (As my friend pointed out, he feels like he doesnt deserve the love a Rosa in a timeline gives him because he's failed her too many times)
Also as my friend pointed out, this is why Marius doesn't open up as much to Rosa. He doesn't really like dumping so much about himself on her because he doesn't wanna get too attached to that Rosa in THAT timeline. Cause if he does, and he fails to save her- he'll be more broken than before.
The reason he seems emotionally detached while talking about the bad memories is because he experienced this in the first timeline, as the original Marius. The one that fell in love with Rosa and didn't know about the tragedy that would happen and didn't see the need to save her and Giann.
And can I add another layer of angst on top. He's stuck in a choose one situation. He can't save both, and he doesn't know that. Even if he does know that, he'd keep going to different timelines, in hopes of success, even if it's impossible.
omg jshdvfkj im glad this ask got through!! it's the only one that i got that looks like it, so hurray! u were successful!
that being said, u were successful in making me very emotional whHHHYYYYYYYY
Tumblr media
im personally not too big on theorizing about canon (my go-to is just to make an au HAHKJSHVFKJS), but it's interesting cuz i have played around with like, a madoka magica-esque au in terms of timeline jumping and immense angst, but it's always luke who im casting as the pseudo role of homura, since hes so very much intertwined with the concept of time and self destruction through self sacrifice
however, hearing ur rationale for marius is SO GOOD cuz i can see the connections and motivations, especially with how guarded and detached he is and oh god why wHY HE'LL BE SO DESTROYED, HE ALREADY IS, WHATS THE WAY OUUUUTTT
Tumblr media
overuse of crying memes aside, thank u for sharing this! if anything, im now immensely interested in applying some of the time-narrative concepts i usually apply to luke to marius too, cuz it fits him as well, what with how heavy his past is and also how he brings up the concept of memory a lot (like, his memories of giann, how he wants to be remembered always by mc, past anecdotes, etc). it fits, just in a different way and different angle
ah, subjecting faves to the Horrors <3 jhvVKJSHDF

Jujutsu Kaisen / Madoka Magica
Hey everyone. 18+ roleplay writer who is around literate and novella style. I'm looking for a Jujutsu Kaisen rp and by a long shot Madoka Magica too, although i don't think I'll get a lot of request for that.
I've been wanting to play Satoru Gojo, moreover my own iteration of him. I'd like to write him a little bit different from usual protrayals that I've seen. I'd love to explore his complexity as the strongest and yet not strong enough character in the series. Someone that still wonders over the fact whether he is the strongest because he's Satoru Gojo, or is he Gojo Satoru because he's the strongest. So expect a lot of angst from my side haha.
I'm also open for OC's! Though I might refuse some if they don't fit together in my opinion. But I love seeing well thought out original characters, so send away dear fellow writers. (Please don't be intimated)
Equally also open for canon ships, emphasis on a Geto Suguru pairing. But also open for any other ships, except the ones where the other character isnt in Satoru's age (Like say, I'm not one for Itadori x Gojo, or Fushigoru x Gojo.)
The only requirements I ask of a partner are that they're 18+ (very fine with older partners too), at minimum semi-lit and patient with me, because I do have a busy schedule and tend to take a little before responding. Though I'd say that's because I also put a lot of work into my responses. However you can always talk in general with me.
That all said, I'm an avid plotter. I love talking headcanons and imaginations. Who knows, maybe I'll even draw a picture.
As a sidenote from me, I know some people only play submissive/dominant characters. I might not be the right one for you if you're adamant about one role, as I don't like to define the characters I play as only by their sexual preference. I mean sure, I'm open for some kinky nsfw scenes but those are like not detrimental to the story, for me personally.
With that out of the way, I hope to find some meaningful rps (despite me being very busy.) 🌟
As for Madoka Magica, I was hoping someone would write the Homura to my Madoka in verse after the ending of rebellion. I was thinking it would be interesting to write and Madoka slowly regaining her memories as well, but more on that in dms.
I think that was it? Like this post or dm me if you're interested! Toodles.

hiii, it’s me again about the Madoka Magica kin match-up !
Here’s a small summary about me:
_ _ _ _ _
I am a pretty calm person on the whole. I like to read books and manga, listen to music and adore watching horror game plays. My friends consider me to be friendly and polite, though a little shy sometimes. I align as more of an introvert but I can be very extroverted and open around people I’m comfortable with, while also trying to remain as considerate as possible as to not make them uncomfortable. I like to comfort my friends whenever they’ve got a problem and give them the best advice I can. I have a lot of different friends but there are a few I am particularly attached to. I am open-minded to just about anything and like to provide people with a “safe-space”, so to speak. I can get pretty emotional over stuff & can let my anxiety get the better of me over things. My “bad traits” are more along the lines of my slightly more avoidant attachment style when I first make friends and my trust issues surrounding those.
_ _ _ _ _
I’m hoping this is enough information for you. Thank you in advance. <3 you’re amazing.
Tumblr media
I'm going to say Mami Tomoe would probably be the best fit for you. Thank you for the kind words btw! - 🪽

Scrapbook Staccato Proposal
Animation Software
Character Animation (Storyboard thru Color): Toon Boom
Asset Preparation: Photoshop
Effects Animation: DragonFrame and After Effects
Compositing: After Effects
Final Editing: Premiere Pro
Medium
Character Animation: digital 2D animation
Special Effects: mix of stop-motion and traditional 2D Animation
Aesthetic
The style should feel very hand-crafted, like you are reading through an actual scrapbook.
Genre
Fantasy
Dark coming-of-age
Target Audience
Young Adult.
Plot
A teenager dives into her scrapbook to indulge in her childhood memories, but soon discovers the memories do not intend to let her go.
Written Proposal
Scrapbook Staccato is the story of a 17-year-old girl named Alice. She has found herself at the crossroads between childhood and adulthood, but she is not ready to let go of her childhood. In the film, she opens a scrapbook that documents many of her precious childhood memories and then physically appears inside it as a smaller version of herself. She goes around interacting with the photos and momentos in there. Some of them are able to come to life and interact back with her, such as a drawing of her childhood dog Posie who follows her around. However, there are also memories in the scrapbook that don’t fit into Alice’s idealized view of her childhood like her parent’s divorce, her first boyfriend breaking up with her, and the death of Posie. Alice would rather not even think about those memories, so she begins ripping them out of the scrapbook. As she does, the smaller version of herself in the scrapbook gets taped down into the scrapbook by some mysterious force. This continues until she is unable to do anything but re-watch all the happy memories re-play in front of her while mountains of scrapped bad memories pile up around her. In the real world, Alice’s face is buried in the scrapbook. A door appears behind her with someone knocking on the other side. The film ends on Alice blankly staring at her happy memories, all the while ignoring the bad ones piling up around her, as the knocking persists.
The film is meant to depict both the enjoyable and dangerous aspects of nostalgia. Alice is an example of a person who has indulged so much in her childhood nostalgia that she sees her childhood as the peak of her life, so everything that has come next in her life pales in comparison. She would rather continue to relive her childhood than actually deal with the pain of growing up.
I will be taking a multi-disciplinary approach to this film. Alice will be a 2D character and animated in Toon Boom Harmony. Everything else in the scrapbook world will be a choppy, collage style of animation. Think Madoka Magica. Assets for the scrapbook world will be collected from real photos I either take or acquire online, edited in Photoshop, and animated in After Effects. All final animations will be edited together in Premiere Pro. I would also like to possibly use a variety of animation techniques like traditional 2D and rotoscoping for certain shots to give a chaotic mix of styles that almost seemed modge-podged together like a real collage/scrapbook. My goal with this film is to experiment with a variety of animation tools to create a very unique yet cohesive alternate world coated with nostalgia for a feminine childhood.

The Summer 2022 Anime season is approaching it's end. It's been a twist of turns and surprises among what I decided to watch. Overall, it felt very weak, though recently, it redeemed itself to me somewhat with the debut to Tamami Galaxie's so called sequel The tamami Time Machine Blues.
There was disappointment, such as with RWBY: Ice Queendom. I recently became a fan of Shaft after watching Madoka Magica and Bakemonogatari, but was harshly disappointed with this one. It starts by going into so bad it's good territory with 3 recap-like episodes that rush through the story ridiculously fast, shamefully skipping a lot of scenes in the process. I don't even know the source material or previous adaptation, but I know this series managed to ruin a character named Penny early on because of this. The way conflicts get resolved are so rushed they feel nonsensical. The art and animation has it's moments where it can be good, though it's hardly ever the case, and mostly in these first 3 episodes. The amount of off model shots, ugly art, alongside weak CGI and terrible animation is the norm. The opening sequence is disappointing in that the song is terrible, in my opinion, and recycles the best looking parts of the first 3 episodes. At least with the ending sequence, they upgraded it with better footage eventually. Not with the opening, however. After 3 comical episodes, it goes into a new original story, and the pace slows down dramatically and painfully. Many of these episodes felt as if they were wasting a lot of time. It felt as if every two episodes were better off being condensed into one. The dream within a dream, and Weiss changing her dreamworld and the people in it by how she perceives them was a bit interesting. Overall, a disappointing disaster. At the very least, I enjoyed the end card Yoshitoshi Abe made from the series. He is known for working on Serial Experiments Lain, Hanbarei Renmei, Texhnolyze, and Ghost Hound, among other works.
Call of the Night, to me, felt like a poor attempt to be similar to Monogatari. As a romance, I haven't been moved at all by the main duo. I felt bored at times, and confused who was who because the art looks all too similar at times. The constant bombardment of background art looked alright, though it was drowning me in the color purple. Regardless, it came off as annoying eventually. I rather the series do some world building of the town, the people, and more of the exciting night life, than vomiting background art devoid of people. It made me feel like it's a ghost town because of that.
Kou fits that mold of protagonists I have come to despise. Coward like main characters, who fight with friendship and who are awkward, and insecure about themselves. Anime needs better protagonists in general.
I don't have much to say about Nazuna. I find it amusing that the viewers can't stop arguing about her anatomy. The new characters have done nothing for me, and the plotless episode in the maid cafe didn't help at all, but to at least make Kou's character a bit better.
It's dialogue isn't interesting enough for me, and during the last few episodes, It almost put me to sleep. With 3 episodes left, I don't feel very motivated to keep watching. If I had not chosen this to review it, I would have dropped it weeks ago. If you are looking for a good romance, watch Kare Kano. If you also want vampires, check out Bakemonogatari instead of this.
My next disappointment is with Orient: Part 2. Part 1 I reviewed last year. It proved to be a very poorly made, bland, and hideous looking shonen anime. Part 2 started much stronger, though still carries over many of the same issues.
Part 2 actually showed some promise at the start that it may become decent. It expanded the world vastly, and introduced a lot of new characters. the funny part about this is that many of these new characters have completely outshined the main cast. Speaking of the main cast, Musashi has become annoyingly useless. I thought at first it was to give a different type of shonen protagonist that isn't all too powerful. Eventually, It became annoying out of how useless he became, and how he uses the power of friendship. Kojirou and Tsugomi have essentially been shafted to the side as background characters.
The powers in this anime at first seemed like it they could be interesting, as some of the warriors fight with all their energy combined into whoever is leading the battle. Their powers are determined by which color blade they are born with. Then, the swords became goofy laser guns. The worst part about the fights in this anime is how ridiculously overpowered some of the heroes and villains are. I like Shiro's character. This antagonist, who seems to have ulterior motives among his so called allies, is this sadistic, constantly smiling bushi who likes satisfy his own thrill more than the mission. He has the power to teleport the bottom of the ocean at you at will to crush you with it's pressure. It sounds ridiculous, and it is. There's no telling what is going to happen because of how random and overpowered many of the characters abilities are.
There is a decent section in the middle where Michiru has her moments with Musashi, though after a decent start, Orient fell off for me again, and it seems hopeless now. Near the end, it's been focusing more on character drama between the new cast. Orient that that annoying thing anime does during this where the monster just stands there as the characters talk on and on. I think Akihito is alright, though nothing amazing of a character.
Next, among the anime that isn't that bad, and more around average, is Tokyo Mew Mew New. Besides it's environmentalist message, it's about these two suspicious men who force animal DNA into 5 poor unsuspecting girls, thus turning them into magical girls. They make them work at a cafe, and fight aliens to save the world. It's a magical girl series. The only magical girl series I am really familiar with are Revolutionary Girl Utena and Madoka Magica. This is different, and nowhere near the quality of those two anime. This series feels too light hearted and happy to me. It feels like a kids show.
The monsters look laughably bad, and don't look menacing. The characters constantly, and annoyingly go off model. Ichigo does this the most. She can look adorable many times, as I have been very charmed by her thus far, and I think her debuting voice actor is doing great, but the series looks too bland and lowly produced. The villains are like team rocket. They try to appear menacing, but are useless and have the annoying formula of showing up, and pathetically losing each episode. There's nothing exciting about them.
One of the parts of this series I can praise is the music. It's well made, maybe even too well made for this series. I think this is has my soundtrack of the season.
The romance between Ichigo and Aoyama can be adorable at times. However, many other times, it comes off as annoying and dragged out. They make aoyama so oblivious and foolish it makes me want to yell. It's another romance that moves so much at the pace of a turtle, that I am nearly over it now, and want them to just start dating already instead seeing the writing make them both constantly look like fools.
There's a character named Lettuce, and though attempts have been made, some characters like Zakuro almost feel as if all they ever have to say is the same line over and over again.
Slightly above average is Summer Time Rendering. It's nearly done with it's 25 episodes. It tries to do what anime like Re:Zero does. It involves a character who discovers he can go back in time if he dies. He has limited chances and can't do it too quickly as a result, and there is also a threat from shadow monsters who are trying to kill everyone. It's a mystery series with a plot so convoluted and ridiculous at this point, that I can not take it seriously anymore. It's annoying when a character knows something crucial to the plot, and responds with "I won't tell you" the way this series executes it. It's annoying how too many of the twists and moments where character outsmart each other isn't cleverly written, but done by the writer making up ridiculous mechanics with the magic that come out of nowhere. The protagonist annoys me and feels like a copy of Subaru from said Re:Zero. He does learn to grow and mature, to the extent he becomes much braver, and an amusing tactician. The last episodes are intense, and very engaging, to the extent it reminds me of how Attack on Titan: the Final Season made me feel. I still have too many problems with it, however.
To build tension and to make dramatic scenes even more dramatic, this series takes this comical approach of hilariously exaggerating the characters reactions and facial expression. I cannot take this seriously when it happens and laugh every time. The gore can come off as too cartoony at times also.
The back and forth between the protagonist and antagonist is turning into tom and jerry. I can enjoy watching this story unfold, but have given up that it will be coherently done.
I have enjoyed Black Mio's character. It's nice to see a shadow try to become human, and not come off as another rei yanagi clone. Hizuru became another of my favorite characters, and has a special case regarding her and her twin brother that makes her more interesting. At this point, I think all I'll remember this for is it's first opening sequence. The song is very good, though the second opening sequence is a major downgrade, in my opinion.
Next, and with the same score, is Lycoris Revoil. Aside from how I feel about the series itself, this anime has produced one of the most annoying fan bases I ever had the displeasure of being a part of. Trying to discuss anything about this leads to people crying about the yuri question, destroying almost all discussion.
As for the series itself, there isn't much to say about it anyways. I don't blame them for spamming the internet because of the lack of meaningful discussion. It started out as this seemingly action packed "girls defeat villains with guns" type of series, but often deviates into the two main leads, Chisato and Takina, doing casual things together. It tries to be political, though it's attempts feel laughable with Majima, who's plan to stir up trouble feels pretty laughable.
Speaking of the action, there is a disappointing amount of it in this series, and towards the end it feels like it abandoned it and stopped trying. I don't really find any depth to any of the characters. The only real interesting part for me, personally, is the relationship between Mika and Shinji.
Chicato annoys me in that she has that problem protagonists have that irritate me to no end. It's the "killing is bad" mentality, even if it includes killing the bad guys. It's costed her painfully so far. Her personality is very optimistic to the point it has an uplifting effect, such as what the characters in K'on! can do, though her never being able to face reality and showing any real emotion has mostly gotten on my nerves.
With Takina, I appreciated that they developed her quickly. Then she just becomes completely devoted to Chisato . Towards the end, her, like almost all the characters, how almost no meaningful development of depth to them.
Visually, I have enjoyed the nice intermission art, though the series begins to shaft it's action scenes, disappointingly.
This used to be my anime of the season, but was surpassed by a lot of other anime towards the end, and ultimately disappointed me.
I'm Kodawa Kawashiri is a 24 episode series consisting of 2 1/2 episodes. Sadly, most of every episode is the opening sequence. As the series progresses, the audio quality of the opening song becomes more and more inaudible. Kodawa shows the viewers life hacks among her greasy, chaotic life. A fan of fried chicken and beer, the series feels as if it is showing her mental decline as she hilarious descends into degeneracy. There's a charm to the series with it's absurd style, and voice actor Aoi Yuki delivers a great performance. She also voices the sound effects and other characters. By the end, there wasn't much to this series, however. I was at least and amused to see Kodawa try to educate me with her lazy way of life.
The new Made in Abyss has caused me lots of disappointment. It leeches off the first season too much to the extent it feel as if it overuses season 1's OST and even recycles it's moments. One of the highlights of season 1 is the music, though with this second season, the new music has been disappointingly used and overall not that great. Instead of being marveled by a new and great soundtrack, it uses songs from season 1 too much, drowning out the chance for the new soundtrack to shine, which it hardly ever does anyways. Regardless, even the composer himself showed some doubt of it's quality on Twitter.
Animation wise, it's a major downgrade from season 1. Instead of the sinister and detailed shots of the monsters in season 1, season 2 is filled with jarring CGI. That's not to say that CGI can't look good. Instead, This is to say it failed in this case. Honestly, it was painful watching Made in Abyss become this bad after I was moved deeply by it's first season and third movie. The obvious Bondrewd clone does nothing for me, and it takes a while for the new season to get better.
It doesn't feel Riko has done much besides eating roasted testicles. The creepy things the author tries to slip into his work are present here again, also.
Story wise, the Golden City is interesting in what happened there, and continues to happen. Reg gets much needed exploration, and his past begins to slowly unfold. Fortunately, the more recent episodes have been much better, as the one hour finale approaches in two weeks.
The surprise of the season for me has been the second season of Shadow House. It's not saying much, honestly, though it has been inspiring to watch. The rebellion against the Shadow House gets more intense as Kate struggles to radicalize the shadows and living dolls that are willing to listen. Her own character's development has gone along nicely enough to show her determination and plans to expose the hierarchy. This time around, the mystery aspect is done much better than in season 1. The way the characters outsmart each other is written much cleverly than something ridiculous like Summer Time Rendering. Many of the characters get their own episodes and much more focus this time around. I don't particularly care about Emilico, but seeing John being funny and some of the recent characters like the mysterious one in the hood has been pleasant.
On the other hand, I can't help but feel the animation feels lazy with characters that are literally pitch black. the production isn't that impressive.
Last, and certainly not least, is what has quickly become my anime of the season with just 1 episode: The Tatami Time Machine Blues. This one I was really interested to start watching because it's a sort of sequel to Tatami Galazy, which is one of my favorite series, and the next directorial work of Shingo Natsume, from Sonny Boy.
The first 30 minute episode brought back many of the vague memories I have from the prequel. Watashi is always amusing to see talk about anything, as he has this bizarre but sincere type of way of critically looking at things. Ozu returns and reminds the viewers the type of troublemaker he is. This is even more interesting now because Watashi isn't the only who can go back in time. The music so far feels mostly reused from the older entry. The visuals are surreal and beautiful, and overall, a strong start for the series. The fast talking is there, though not as intense as before. All throughout, there is a lot of good, cleverly written humor that I can really connect with.
Overall, this is the weakest season I've covered. Despite that, it had some amusing twists and turns around the end.

Ooh, still open?
We don't see enough MadoMami content for either Madoka (Madoka Magica/PMMM) or Mami (Madoka Magica/PMMM) to be satisfied with, could we just have something like Kaname Madoka hugging Mami Tomoe from behind? Keepin' it SFW and not as suggestive here for our sanity, even if they're like sixteen and eighteen.
Mami is a ballet dancer in headspace, and we think you've heard of Kaname already and what she's like already, so we want to try something like "what is she head headphones and a tshirt on" instead; either that, or otherwise her godoka dress would be fine if that'd fit better.

Thank you for your request again! It was fun to draw a cute surprise hug. I hope you like it!!!

((What music I think your ocs listens to based on what they looks like,,, tell me if I got something right))
Eb listens to hyperpop. This is a statement, non-negotiable.
Bank likes webcore and the SCP-3005 roblox game soundtrack. (And hyperpop but like less then Ebony)
I think Boxxy listens to five finger death punch and the call of duty:black ops - zombies OST
Allison looks like she listens to Studio killers and literally nothing else
Leti is a little more open and listens to studio killers AND paramore
Raina looks like she had a punk phase and never left (Green Day, mcr)
I have a sneaking suspicion that Fumei listens to slipknot but just,,, quietly
Shinda listens to doja cat
Yume looks like she listens to classic rock! And otacore ((and the SCP-3005 roblox game soundtrack,,,))
Ikute listens to fukin Red Hot Chili Peppers,,,
I think Bank just overall likes chill game OSTs ((such as Pesterquest/Hiveswap OST, the Minecraft sound track and maybe the Madoka Magica soundtrack,,,))
I'd say these guesses are pretty good estimates!
Eb's music tastes are mostly within the realm of alt and nu metal, whatever the hell ICP's considered, and some pop music for flavoring. I definitely think hyperpop's a good fit for her, I should get on adding that to her playlist lmao.
Which, I've made one for her! As well as Bank and Boxxy. Boxxy's is a bit of a WIP atm cause I just made it, but Eb and Bank's are pretty solid. Here's the links:
Eb's Napster Account
Bank's mp3 Player
Boxxy's Myspace Page
Anyway,
Bank's tastes are fairly accurate. She likes funky music, I wouldn't necessarily say webcore, more in the lines of EDM and City Funk, and she's actually the one most into otacore! She also listens to indie music and bedroom pop, and some alt rock occasionally. Sad girl hours lmao
Boxxy most definitely listens to hard shit, but I think she's mostly into really hyper, really manic, really wack ass music, ESPECIALLY if that music is HARD on the bass. Intense bass is like ecstasy on her eardrums.
Yeah Allison listens to Studio Killers lmfao. She also would listen to stuff like hip hop and reggaetón, and on a completely different side, shit like horrorcore!
Leti is mostly into 90's alt rock and folk. She also frequently listens to classic Spanish tunes, but that's a thing her, Allison, and Ben share together.
Raina is a fucking punk and she listens to a lot of emo and punk classics. However, she's also really into hip hop and rap. As well as house music. And, being the gamer she is, she of course is massively into Video Game OSTs of all kinds. Also she's a piano player and loves classical pieces. She's a fucking paradox
Fumei's a hardcore rock and metal lover! In fact He, Ikute, and Shinda all are! Ikute is more of a bigger fan of Slipknot than Fumei is, but he still enjoys them. He's more into stuff like Metallica and Rob Zombie. And he also really likes classic rock, I'd say he's a bigger fan of Red Hot Chili Peppers than Ikute is lol. He also has a bit of flavoring in his tastes cause he's also really into ska and like, stoner surfer ass music, Sublime is def one of his fav groups.
I think Shinda does listen to Doja but I don't think she's much a listener of her genre. Like I said before, she's more about Rock and Metal. However, she's also really big on Video Game OSTs like Raina is. Mostly Sonic OSTs. She is a diehard Sonic fan lmao
I don't need to repeat it with Ikute, I already said the thing. Anyway, he also fucking loves EDM and dubstep. Dude makes that shit himself and he's pretty good at it tbh
Yume like indie stuff, she likes EDM but not as much as Ikute, and she likes J-pop and chiptune. Her taste is kind of similar to Bank so I won't repeat the same things, she's just into mostly sad/numbing music. She also loves certain game OSTs! She probably listens to the Silent Hill 3 soundtrack a lot.

I know this is like taking a bat to the beehive but... I really wanna hear your opinions on the whole... Imprinting thing
(Note before we go any further: this meta is written purely about the shapeshifting aspect of the Quileute characters, I don’t at all get into the racism in Twilight or any kind of social commentary. This is a purely watsonian meta. Others in this fandom have already addressed the racial dynamics at play, far more eloquently and knowledgeably than me. If I say something in here that’s in any way offensive, that’s not my intention and I’m open to criticism.)
Ooh imprinting.
I touch upon it here, basically I hate it.
The imprinting is part of this theme where the shapeshifters lose their free will and autonomy, and I find it tragic, cruel, and unnecessary.
First of, the fact that they have to phase at all.
They’re made warriors to protect their tribe. There’s no choice involved, only genetics and magic irrevocably changing their lives, and at a ridiculously young age, too. Sam is the oldest of them, and he is 19.
Violence is an inherent part of what they become. Their purpose is to protect the tribe, by fighting vampires. Not only is this insanely dangerous (we see Jake get so injured by a single vampire that he’s bedridden for weeks), but if they succeed, they will have killed. In the singularly brutal manner of tearing apart and burning someone who looks a lot like a human, who talks and might beg for their life, at that. And I remind you, most of these shapeshifters are literal children. They might not see vampires as people, but all the same, killing one can’t be good for their mental wellbeing. (Thought: Perhaps an argument can be made for Laurent’s death having a part in the turn Jake’s personality took? Some, though not many, of the symptoms for PTSD do fit. I don’t know enough about PTSD to pursue this train of thought, but it occurred to me just now, in particular he becomes quite aggressive and prone to outbursts after that incident, so into a parenthesis it goes)
Not to mention how inhumane that responsibility is. Vampires in the Twilight-verse are terrifying, and the shapeshifters might have the power to fight them. But (and this is where I plug one of my all-time favorite animes, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, as it asks the question “Is it okay to sacrifice yourself for others?” because that’s... well there’s a parallel to be made to the shapeshifters. It’s on Netflix!) does that mean they should? Is it really their responsibility? Again- they’re kids!
Then there’s the time Sam lost control, and accidentally mauled the girl he loved. And it’s so cruel to both him and Emily. Sam never chose to have to control himself in the first place, he never chose shapeshifting. He didn’t choose to imprint on Emily either, and he didn’t choose to lose control that day. At no point in the series of events that led to Emily being mauled did Sam have any real choice, and yet he will shoulder the guilt for what happened for the rest of his life.
These kids get superpowers, and several of them seem to enjoy being shapeshifters, but the fact remains that they now carry this huge responsibility to protect their families and homes, doing so is incredibly dangerous, they lose out on their regular lives, and they can’t opt out of it.
This all sucks, but then we get to the fact that they are deprived of their free will, as their alpha can issue an order they physically can’t break. The alpha becomes alpha because of bloodlines, not because of a democratic election. Jake got a mockery of a choice in that he could choose to become alpha himself, or let Sam continue, which was really just choosing between a rock and a hard place. There is no limitation to what this order can be, from “don’t say X to person Y” to “let’s kill someone you love”. Jake has to struggle to break that last one, and he’s only successful because of the bloodline thing letting him become his own alpha.
Oh, and there’s the massive invasion of privacy when they have a hive mind. Cool concept, less cool to have it be reality. Leah is the poster child for how a hive mind can backfire, and they can’t opt out of this.
I’m not good at gifs, but the shapeshifters just make me think of that gif of someone flicking a lightswitch on and off, “WELCOME TO HELL!”. Of course, Twilight in general is a pit of despair for everybody, so I suppose that gif really is... well it sums up all of canon.
So, we have these kids aged 19 or younger, as of Breaking Dawn they skew as young as thirteen, their lives are turned upside down by something they can’t opt out of, they must shoulder this huge responsibility to protect their homes and families from the terrifying threat of vampires, and on top of all of that, they must obey orders that are so irresistible, they can compel them to harm someone they care for.
With all of that in mind, you’d think that the shapeshifters had enough on their plate. That through all of this they would at least retain their selves, and be able to look forward to a future where they could stop phasing, and go on to live normal, human, lives.
Yeah, NOT IF THEY IMPRINT.
I’ll just quote Jake’s description:
Everything inside me came undone as I stared at the tiny porcelain face of the halfvampire, half-human baby. All the lines that held me to my life were sliced apart in swift cuts, like clipping the strings to a bunch of balloons. Everything that made me who I was—my love for the dead girl upstairs, my love for my father, my loyalty to my new pack, the love for my other brothers, my hatred for my enemies, my home, my name, my self—disconnected from me in that second—snip, snip, snip—and floated up into space.
I was not left drifting. A new string held me where I was.
Not one string, but a million. Not strings, but steel cables. A million steel cables all tying me to one thing—to the very center of the universe.
I could see that now—how the universe swirled around this one point. I’d never seen the symmetry of the universe before, but now it was plain.
The gravity of the earth no longer tied me to the place where I stood. (Breaking Dawn, page 237)
Everything that made me who I was disconnected from me.
Jake’s love for his father, his home, his very own self, it’s all gone now. And while I have thoughts on the authenticity of this imprint, whether it was organic, the description above is apparently how imprinting feels. It’s along the lines of what Sam, Jared, and Paul all describe.
I don’t think I can put into words just how devastating I find imprinting, I think the above quotation speaks for itself. And as with all other shapeshifter things, there is no choice involved.
We see its devastating effects in the Emily, Sam, and Leah debacle. Sam and Leah were serious together, so much so that they were engaged. Sam had fallen for and chosen to be with Leah. Perhaps they would have broken up eventually, but Leah was still the choice he made. Then he imprints on Emily, and all that is for naught. He had to break up with Leah, who if she hadn’t phased never would have learned why, Emily and Leah’s relationship is ruined, and Emily must forever live with the knowledge that if Sam had his free will intact he would be with another woman.
Then there’s Jared and Kim. Kim crushed on Jared, but Jared never noticed her. The fact that they were in the same class is damning: if a boy is attracted to a girl, he's gonna notice her. Jared never did.
Quil imprints on Claire, who is a toddler. That’s just a recipe for misery and disaster all around.
And I’ve only touched the shapeshifter side of things. They lose their autonomy and freedom, but the imprintées draw the short straw too. They’re now responsible for this other person’s happiness. Sure, having someone who’ll be whatever you need them to be sounds nice (well, it sounds horrifying, but I’m playing ball) on paper, but you can’t opt out of them being like that. The imprintée can’t say “Sorry, not interested,” and she certainly can’t shut the imprinter out of her life, not without irrevocably ruining the imprinter’s life. The imprinter needs her. She’s the center of his earth now, but she didn’t choose to be.
Imprinting is a liferuiner for everyone involved.
Then we have the question of what imprinting is even for. I’m afraid I agree with Billy, that it’s for procreation. We see Sam, who was dating a woman about to phase (even if Leah isn’t infertile, she’s a warrior now. She can’t run in the woods and fight vampires, and gestate and nurse a child at the same time) conveniently imprint on her cousin, who as cousin to Leah is from a shifter bloodline. Claire, as Emily’s cousin, has those same genetics. Paul imprints on a woman from the Black family line. Jake is the outlier, but either Renesmée’s gift helped that imprinting along, or he imprinted because of the offspring they could potentially have (I firmly believe it’s the former because the latter... NOPE. Also, I can’t imagine whatever magic drives imprinting would want vampiric progeny for the future generations. Regardless of Renesmée’s person, her biology is wired to desire human blood. That’s exactly what Jake is supposed to protect people from. Bad match.).
I just.... ughhh. God, I hate imprinting so much, and on every level.
To me, everything about the shapeshifters is about free will, autonomy, and the loss thereof. And it would have been beautiful if their story was about reclaiming that, but it isn’t. None of this, with the exception of the alpha orders, is even acknowledged.
So, in summation, yes I hate imprinting, but it’s only the horror cherry on top of a very sad and problematic cake.

The Winx club as magical girls from Madoka Magica. What would their wish be?
another question I've been waiting for forever!
Per my own headcanons and a bit of canon, Bloom is obsessed with all things magical, so I feel she would become a magical girl for the sake of being a magical girl. However, I could also see her wish being to either find more people that share her interests or to make Mitzi stop bullying her. With the first wish, her powers would be similar to Mami's, making some sort of ribbons or threads to represent how she can now make connections with other people; with the second wish her powers would most likely be something like generating barriers, I can see her using them offensively as well, like sending the barrier to you as if being hit with a wall. In both cases, her magic motif would be hearts, with her Soul Gem also in the shape of one. Her weapon would be a cutlass, like Sayaka.
Stella's wish is easy, especially if we assume Kyubey got to them all at the right time - getting her parents back together. Her powers would revolve around unifying things, sort of like fusing objects, and would retain a sun and moon motif due to her parents, as a show of how she got them. Her weapons would be a pair of quarterstaffs, like Kuroe - one sun themed, one moon themed. Her Soul Gem would be eclipse-shaped.
Musa is also another easy wish - to heal her mother's illness. She would have strong healing powers, and they would probably manifest the same way as Sayaka's powers, given the recipient of the wish in both cases are music-aligned. Her weapon would be an axe, and her Soul Gem would be volume-icon-shaped.
Flora is hard, because in canon we really don't have anything to go by that would make her wish for something. So for this I'm gonna have to come up with something, and say that Flora would become a magical girl if someone she cares about is in danger, like her family or her friends of the time. She would have powers and a motif related to plants, and her weapon would be a chain or whip, to get her loved ones out of the way. Her Soul Gem would be leaf-shaped.
Tecna is also hard, but not by much - she would wish to change herself, so she could be more open to other people's emotions. She would become a far chipper and outgoing person, but her real self is still inside and her love for technology would still drive some people away even with her new personality. Her weapon would be a crossbow, her motif would be emojis, and her Soul Gem would be power-shaped, as in the icon for turning on a device.
Ending with Aisha as another easy question - she would wish for her parents to stop micromanaging her entire fucking life, to be free. Her powers would be wind-related, "free as the sky" and all that, her motif would be air currents and clouds, and her Soul Gem would be wing-shaped. Her weapon would be a pair of daggers.
NOW FOR THE ACTUALLY INTERESTING SHIT, AND BY THAT I MEAN
THE WITCH FORMS.
Raiponce, the Witch of Fairytales. Her nature is daydreaming. She lives in her own world of fantasy, surrounded by characters from epic tales and romance arcs. However, nothing in her own world really attracts her, so she spends her days dreaming of a life she can no longer have. Some say she can be heard sobbing and laughing at times, when her dream fades as all dreams do. Her familiars are Azurro, the knight and Carmilla, the princess. Their jobs is to bring the Witch back to reality and defend her from those that try to keep her dreaming.
Aurora, the Witch of Threads. Her nature is spiteful. She lives under the deepest of seas, threading red strings for one and all, drawing people to each other even when they hate each other, forcing them to comply with her idea of union as revenge for ignoring her. If her tears reach the thread she's working with, they dissolve and free those tied up in them. Her familiars are Marcel and Ivanna, whose role is to be tied by the witch into eternal bonds.
Guillermina, the Sylph Witch. Her nature is free-spirited. She flies around her endless sky without a care in the world, singing a song that no one but her people can hear. Those that refuse her offer to fly and perform alongside her are quickly tossed into the hurricane feeding the endless wind of her neverending realm. Her familiars are Sophia, who offer backup vocals for the Witch and assist her when her flying falters.
Lucinda, the Rotten Witch. Her nature is anger. Her forest has been decaying and wilting for aeons now, and all of her tries to revive it and failing have turned her to rage and fury, now determined to destroy the forest that refused her help, unaware that it's her own presence that feeds the decay. Her familiars are Alejandro, who assist her in destroying the forest with their sharp shears.
Marcille, the Witch of Summer. Her nature is moody. The sky of her world is a kaleidoscope, changing from bright sunny days to overcast gloom to torrential storms to relentless heat in the blink of an eye to fit her current emotion. She cares not for how this affects her subjects, and demands attention at all times - those that refuse or don't make it in time are quickly destroyed by the current weather. Her familiars are Diana, Gerald and Frederic, whose must always assist their Witch with anything she wants.
Emilianne, the Shadow Witch. Her nature is joyful. She lives her days in a dimly-lit place, enjoying the cover of the partial shadows and spending time with her friends, unaware that her friends don't seem to pay attention to her at all. Her familiars are Lucas and Julia, who play the role of her friends and protect her from realizing they don't care at all about her.
