it's always kinda funny when you *almost* share a music taste with someone. we like the same bands but all your favorite songs by them are the ones i can't stand. same genres but every artist you like in them is juuuust grating enough for me to be unable to stand them. on paper we're perfectly compatible. in practice if you put us in a car together one of us won't make it out alive

I had so many thoughts about your glitches thoughts but they just came out rambly and stupid, so I just wanted to say you, you GET IT
that is all okay i was trying to put that post into words but failed so just made the post of it all together. our glitches can be friends <3
BUT THAT IS IT REALLY THAT IS IT. every member of fall out boy has talked at one time or another about how they were the band that never fit in anywhere - not in the original scene (they had their start as INTENTIONALLY breaking away from the band culture they came up in), not through their years pre hiatus, not when they rejoined, and certainly not now. they are a band that is always too much or not enough and never fully understood, except by those who ALSO fit in nowhere else. fall out boy set out to be a band for the people who are “the extra legos” in life, a boat for the people who need to make it to the island of misfit toys.
and with my glitches post i just wanted to touch on how that has evolved over their career between them, especially between pete and patrick. from recognizing you both have glitches and that you have this skill to make them work together and trying to learn how to do that, to those glitches working against each other at times, to coming back together in a way that’s softer and more aware of the differences and boundaries, to realizing those glitches are what make it work and are what set them and the band apart as a creative entity.
