AITA for losing my rivals jacket after he sacrificed himself to save me?

hi! (m 18) I have a job that involves a lot of action, and i have this sorta rivalry with a dude (m 20) (he wears a really long black coat, this will be important later) that works in another place. Me and him have always been fighting ever since we met. That being said, i didn't think we were on good terms at all. We get matched up frequently on missions because we work well together, so what happened wasn't different. We got matched up on a really important mission, and long story short, the dude. whom I've been on a feud with ever since i met him. Sacrificed himself to make sure i would come out alive, and in the process, he gave me his long black overcoat.

This is the part where i think i might have been an asshole. As i was getting away, i was, of course, really confused. And in the middle of the getting away part, i might have let go of the coat. I didn't think it was a big deal at the time because I was still sure he hated me by then.

But the rival, the dude somehow ended up alive. And when we met again, he asked me about the coat. I got embarrassed to tell him that i had lost his coat, but when i finally told him, he got mad. Saying all types of things, saying how could i be so careless, how that coat was so important to him.. etc. So, AITA for losing the coat?
