K-Pop Scandals 2023

This year had a lot of scandals, from serious abuse allegations and harmless dating scandals, to quite a few contract disputes between idols and companies. ch. lii - i had to

wooyoung × reader, ??? × reader

in a school filled with the affluent, it would only make sense for birds of a feather to flock. but what if your new status doesn't immediately buy you a way into said flock? what if instead, it bought you sure rejection? to the rich and powerful, having different masks is a must. despite some people knowing your true self and your secrets

You stood around five feet away from the door of your classroom. Contemplating whether or not you should walk in or just run away, out of the school and join the circus. Even in the hallway you already felt anxious. How could you not? People passing by saw you and began whispering. Oh, how you loathe yourself for falling into this bad idea.

But you willed yourself to get through today.

Or at least, get through with your plan.

The bag in your right hand seemed heavier than your school backpack despite it only containing one item. You don't know how you were able to go through with your poorly made plan. Or how you were able to conceive it in the first place. Surely you're not this petty, right? Not even people who are genuinely petty can concoct a plan as ridiculous and stupid as this one. How did you let Jung Wooyoung get under your skin once again? Why did his words affect you that much? You remembered a time when his words would affect you positively. His words usually made you strive to be a better person, to be a better person, to be more diligent, and even to be more likeable by others.

At that point, you had half the mind to just abandon your plan and gave in to reality. You're going to submit to peer pressure, you're going to keep silent for the rest of the semester (which will end next month) and then hopefully, your parents will let you move to the countryside to become a lettuce farmer. Considering the other alternative is existing as an outcast with no one to even acknowledge your existence by using you to do their assignments. Awesome, right?

Just as you were about to turn, you began hearing people whispering around you. Your grip on the bag handle tightened as the voices became clearer.

"Isn't that the girl who tried to confess to Jung Wooyoung?""

"You mean the girl who got utterly rejected by Jung Wooyoung?"

"She thought she's all that, trying to score a guy like Jung Wooyoung when she's... What's less than nothing?"

"Honestly, does she not realize what she looks like? Look at her Twitter feed. Everything is about horror movies or some shit. Why is she so obsessed with those creepy shits? Seems like a major red flag to me,"

"She must've gotten THE Jung Wooyoung absolutely fooled by playing innocent. I bet she's in a cult or something,"

No matter how much you tried to ignore them, the voices only grew louder and it became impossible to cover yourself from the attack. You could feel your heartbeat increasing by the millisecond and your feet seemingly cemented on the ground. You wanted to look for an exit route but the menacing voices forced you to keep your eyes rooted on the floor. You were trapped. Trapped like mice in a mad scientist's maze.

While people were staring, pointing, and talking about you, a presence emerged from the crowd. His intention was just to get to class as soon as possible to take a nap until the second period, but not even he can ignore the words people were using.

Kai's steps stopped merely several feet away from you. Initially, he didn't realize that people were talking about you. But then he saw your figure in front of him, still like a statue.

Seeing you at school made him happy, he had been so worried about you from not seeing you since you skipped school with Yeonjun. Heck, he had been worried about you since he first became your assignment partner when you had a falling out with Wooyoung and his friends. Other than Soobin, Yeonjung, Beomgyu, and Taehyun, he had never found anyone else whom he cared about so much. Maybe it was how weak you looked. Weak as in super tired hence unable to fight for yourself because you're around people who absorb your energy 24/7. You looked a lot like him before he and Taehyun found each other and later on 'adopted' by Beomgyu and Soobin. He saw part of him in you that he wanted to save you from.

But he stopped himself from approaching you. Never had he seen you looking so vulnerable, all alone like a carcass surrounded by vultures that are circling around you. He wanted to swoop in to help you but he didn't want to frighten you, risking you fleeing like a wounded animal. If that metaphor's accurate, you'll die.

He then zeroed in on his focus and realized that you had been paying attention to what people are saying. Kai's eyes turned hard and a snarl appeared on his face he began glaring at people, even stepping in front of those closest to him to stop them from saying more.

Of course, you weren't aware of Kai whatsoever. You were too focused on praying to god to save you by sending a Gryffin or something to swoop in and kidnap you.

It wasn't until one particular comment snapped you out of your trance.

"You know what, I heard that Jung Wooyoung said that he and his friends only kept her around because apparently, her dad owed his dad something? Yeah, so people have been saying that she's actually some kind of his servant or something? They're not even friends, but for her sake, Wooyoung asked his friends to pretend to befriend her for her father's sake. Pathetic. I wouldn't be surprised if her dad sold her to his family to get the money for his current wealth. But I'm doubtful because she doesn't seem like she's worth more than our lunch money,"

You saw red.

Had Wooyoung been shit-talking you these past three days you were absent? Has he been spreading rumours as malicious and as ridiculous as this?

There was no turning back.

Your initial hesitance turns to rage as you reached into the bag and produce a tin foil container filled with a mixture of whipped cream and shaving cream. It was an odd combination, but you had your pissiness at Mingyu to thank.

Without thinking twice or hesitating, you threw the paper bag and your book bag to the floor outside the class, surprising some students nearby and then marched into the classroom with one goal and only one goal in mind.

Giving Jung fucking Wooyoung a piece of your mind.

Wary, Kai followed behind. He was surprised when you dropped your things and was even more surprised when he saw the pile of... cream pie? in your hand. But he was intrigued, he had never seen you looking that determined. Maybe in school work, but this is different. He can tell from your steps. So he casually followed behind, letting some distance linger between you two just to make sure.

Time ran differently that moment. Everything moved as if in slow motion. A second felt like a minute and a minute felt like an hour.

"Jung Wooyoung!" You bellowed.

Hearing his name called, Wooyoung turned around to look at who might be calling him.

From then on, time stopped completely.

Seonghwa and Yunho who saw you coming couldn't stop anything, they couldn't even warn Wooyoung.

People gasped; some had their jaws slacked and some covered their mouths in shock. But everyone was in the same state: frozen as you were mere minutes prior, outside the classroom. No one dared make a move or let out a sound, heavens know some even stopped breathing in suspense.

Were they processing what just happened before them? Yes.

Did they not believe what just happened? Absolutely.

Are they waiting for Wooyoung to react after having what seemed like pie smacked directly to his face? Without a doubt.

Not even Kai knew what to do, he was beyond surprised, to say the least. In his mind, he wanted to immediately cheer for you, completely and utterly in favour of your brand new brave side. But at the same time, he couldn't believe his own eyes. It is what he's seeing is it not?

Even you stood frozen with your hand on the tin foil container in shock. The adrenaline had worn down and the realization sunk down. What have you done? What are you supposed to do now? Do you say something? Do you walk off? Not gonna lie, there's a small voice screaming in your head to take the foil off of Woyooung, put it on his desk, and spit on him. But that's impossible. Your mouth is too dry to actually pull that off.

You retracted your hand and the tin foil container lingered for a couple seconds before dropping to the floor, revealing Wooyoung's face, covered entirely by white fluff. You took a step back when he reached his hand up to wipe some of the substance off his face, seemingly in a daze. Wooyoung stared at his hand then at you and then back to his hand and back at you. It was obvious that he was confused just like the rest of the people there. His eyes showed no hate, it showed no anger, it was as if he was asking you 'why?'

Deciding that you couldn't stay there anymore, you turned around to leave, fleeing the scene. You decided that the security guards can try their best, but you're skipping school. The thought of having to stay in school after creating such a mess (literally and figuratively) was something you refuse to handle.

"Hey!"

Someone from behind called for you. That someone was Wooyoung, you're sure. You've spent most of your life until that moment with him to be able to recognize his voice without looking. And long enough to know that Wooyoung's voice indicated that he wanted to talk. There was no demand in his voice, no entitlement of your time, it was... It was like as if he wanted to explain himself to you.

Unfortunately for him, you were done listening. You were done trying to understand his side. You were done laying yourself down for him to step all over.

In a blink of an eye, you were pulled into the embrace of someone. One hand was wrapped tightly around your shoulders with your face pressed to the person's chest. You looked up to see Kai glaring ahead.

Just centimetres away from reaching you, Wooyoung was stopped by Kai who moved at the speed of light to push him back to his seat. Maybe it was him forgetting just how powerful he could be, or maybe the emotions affected him, but Wooyoung was pushed way more harshly than Kai intended. The shorter boy fell into his chair and then back onto the floor. The sound of desks and chairs scraping was too loud for your liking. It once again incited the reaction of the people around you, gasps and curses left people's mouths in surprise yet no one moved to help him.

"Let's get you out of here," Kai mumbled directly to you before ushering you away in his arms, shielding you away from other people. Everyone was busy staring and some crowded over Wooyoung, trying to see whether or not he was okay. Yunho and Seonghwa came to their senses and went to help Wooyoung up

You were never this close with Kai. Sure, he showed his softer sides to you, but his stoic, cold, and grungy demeanour were always there. This, however, was neither. It was his protective side, an altruistic side of him that you had never seen before. But it was comforting, it's warm. It felt good to know that you have someone who has your back at such a hard time.

Instinctively, your hand came to grip Kai's uniform blazer tightly. Taking notice of the small action, Kai couldn't help but grin to himself.

As he stooped to grab your abandoned book bag by the door, you spared a glance back into the classroom. Past the people gathering and crowding, your gaze locked on Wooyoung who stood still in the middle of the crowd of people. It was as if no one else were there, just you both looking at each other because you knew what had just happened.

It was the end of... something between the two of you. Whatever it was. While you know that the affection you've always had for him will remain, deep down you knew that you had just told him you're done. Done with his hot and cold game, done with his manipulation, done with him using you, and done with being his dirty little secret.

The more you curled into Kai, the clearer Wooyoung's message becomes. The message he sent through his eyes,

Despair.

He truly did fucked up.

ticci toby’s story is about this kid who’s like extremely bullied and it’s kinda fucked up that the creator named him ticci toby because i’m 90% sure he has tourettes in the story. but that’s besides the point. he ends up like getting rid of his dad and runs in the woods, then gets adopted into the slenderman mansion ⁉️ that’s if i’m remembering correctly LMAO im relistening to the story rn, i forgot how well it was written

beomgyu- russian sleep experiment

the russian sleep experiment was, you guessed it, an experiment. from what i remember the experiment was conducted during a war to test endurance. the prisoners from said war were told they would be set free if they followed through with the experiment. the prisoners were locked in a room and the scientists leaked this gas in the room to keep the prisoners from sleeping, without having sleep the prisoners go insane and start to kill eachother

the russian sleep experiment is honestly my favorite creepypasta. i read it a few years ago and then shane and ryan read it on are you scared and i was hooked. i feel like beomgyu would really like it.

There really has been no dom beomgyu smuts lately as a switch myself I’m a little sad haha but I also find it really funny but I don’t think there’s a lot of sub beomgyu smuts just because people think beomgyu is submissive because honestly I just think the whole of txt are switches and I think dynamics also really depend on what kind of partner you have as well so I wouldn’t say someone is dominant or someone is submissive. I think reading femdom smuts is just a lot more fun to read and probably to write because I feel like normal ones can get quite repetitive and it feels more exhilarating and powerful even if you aren’t actually a dom irl it’s nice to see women being more dominant with men because in real a lot of guys have quite a fragile masculinity with it. Also txt tumblr is quite small compared to other kpop writing communities I’ve seen, there isn’t actually that many consistent blogs on here and so actual smuts on any txt members have actually been quite sparse. I’d say sub beomgyu became a thing because of the blueprint blogs that kickstarted it such as wildernessuntothemselves I had never really seen submissive beomgyu until they came around and other blogs such as you and fairyofshampgyu inspired others to write sub beomgyu because those blogs were the only really ones consistent and kickstarting this. Haha I don’t know why this is so long but hopefully it is somewhat coherent!

Definitely agree with the femdom writing being fun-- like, you don't need to be a dom in real life to enjoy writing it and that is the case for me 😅 This is a little bit of a contradiction to your earlier statement but I genuinely do not believe I have one percentage of dominant energy, completely submissive over the years with my relationships (but I'm starting to doubt it just a little bit after getting into femdom content so....idk 😂). I was on here earlier than I started posting like most people are on tumblr, and I'd have to say that your observation skills are so good because lol yes, @wildernessuntothemselves (heh sorry for tagging you mort but i just might want you to see this 😂) was definitely a blog I first got introduced to with sub!beomgyu like, just hardcore, straight up whiny boy and a powerful woman (lover = loser fic...ah, very delicious).

There were definitely some fics here and there, but kick starting it, I'd want to give that credit to her! After a bit, @fairyofshampgyu came out with their fuck you series, and I'd say both are sort of the blueprint of the recent rising in seeing beomgyu as a very strong sub. Before this, you'd see one of those MTL posts and almost always Beomgyu is categorized as a hardcore dom, and now I almost get shocked seeing Beomgyu being considered more of a sub than Hueningkai and Soobin (who were often seen as softer doms or just sub men in general).

I wasn't even meaning to turn this blog into a sort of sub!beomgyu cult of fics, like...at all so I find it funny that I'm jumbled together with a more experienced writer like Nia 😂 But yeah, some really good points. It's just funny how a few months ago I was desperately looking for anything sub!beomgyu related (to the point i created this blog in hopes of receiving sub beomgyu requests), just a tinge because everything under the smut tag was hardcore dom, I wouldn't have imagined the tables would turn so quickly especially considering male subs aren't particularly that popular comparative to their counterparts.

I do feel for people who are sub leaning, content is sparse with txt in general-- and for people to get even simply blocked for requesting a dominant beomgyu? A... little insane 😅? I even remember this sort of thing being brought up around three months ago, someone talking about how they see Beomgyu as a complete dom and do not understand that appeal of the recent surge of sub Beomgyu-- perception is different, and I do wish for you and others to get more dominant Beomgyu fics, everyone deserves a little treat 😭

• Learning about which ATZ members are close with which TBZ members is so wild to me. Like what do you mean Seonghwa and Juyeon are close? What do they talk about? What do Wooyoung and Haknyeon talk about? Should I be concerned?

• I mean, Seonghwa and Juyeon being friends makes sense on a base level because of the catboy agenda or whatever, but Wooyoung & Haknyeon seems like Hak got recruited into a cult by accident. 😭 (/lh)

• I also recently learned that TXT's Soobin is close with Q and it made my brain stop for a minute. They don't even exist in the same universe in my mind what do you mean they're friends? Like Soobin is friends with Yeonjun who is friends with Wooyoung who is friends with Haknyeon (apparently. for some reason??) who is friends with Q— BUT they individually do not exist in the same universe. Q and Soobin knowing each other feels illegal to me.

ugh I sometimes talk about these kinds of crumbs with other moots and honestly I just wished that 4th gen were more open about their friendships esp the boy x girl friendships because sometimes these behind the scenes or when they say these friendships in passing its too cute I just want to see idols being normal people and having friends (aside from their members ofc) 🥺

because i can't choose just one, here's my top 5 :D

0x1=lovesong by txt - i love the indie coming-of-age film vibes. it's emotional, it's dramatic, and it just suits the song so perfectly. it was the first time i ever encountered emo/pop punk influence in kpop and i really appreciated that as a former emo. also it was my first txt mv so i cherish it very much.

please don't... by k.will - first of all, i love a plot-based music video. this one is such a classic but the twist at the end is e v e r y t h i n g.

jungle by cix - my friend actually made me watch this a few months ago and it just blew me away. SO visually stunning. it's just a piece of art.

the real by ateez - i love how over-the-top and loud it is. both the song and video are so reminiscent of bollywood to me? it's great.

secret by wjsn - it's so pretty. i love the colors. i love the dreamy, celestial imagery. cosmic girls, indeed.

also, just in general, i really love digipedi. everything they touch is gold.

OOO DOLPHIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! like i'm sorry soobin i love you so much but this should've gotten the cult following. i always love the way they rearrange songs to suit their sound.

i'm also equally obsessed with nine's twenty-three cover. i couldn't even recognize it when i first heard it but it works so well.

keonhee's ah puh cover is also so, so, so cute and wonderful. i'm obsessed. it's so keonhee. i probably listen to it more than the original.

i'm still not over joshua's double take cover. i typically don't love his voice in svt songs because he's singing in way too high a range but he sounds really great here in his lower register. just a lot more comfortable and relaxed.

taking it WAY back but i really love ali's cover of the leopard of kilimanjaro. her voice is incredible. i listen to her immortal songs cover album all the time.

i'll also do collaborations too!

step - yena, yoojung, arin, chuu, yuqi - i've never enjoyed kara (again, sorry soobin...) but this is such a excellent cover. their energy is great and arin is just kills it completely.

pretty u - kep1er, tempest - i feel like boy group/girl group collabs are often awkward but this one is so fun. both groups complement each other well on stage. it's just like a fun little musical number.

celeb five - weus - yes, it's a parody but more importantly, it's the best thing i have ever seen.

trouble maker - hyuna, hyunseung - what a classic. when i think "collaboration," they are the first thing to come to mind. i still listen to the trouble maker mini albums on a regular basis.

falling slowly - sungmin, sunny - an oldie but a goodie. they used to host a radio show together back in the day that i used to watch religiously during high school so watching this always makes me feel nostalgic for those days.

Someone suggested that hollyhomburg gets into another group to cope with bts going. And I kinda wish I could. I saw someone say there’s idols who are a “bias in-law” (u like them but aren’t a stan I think) which is kind of a mood. I’d say this is me with Hoshi, Soobin, Hyunjin, and Yeonjun. But I want to be loyal to the boys. Also, no one really hits right imo. Seventeen Ateez stray kids and txt seem like good groups to get into. But I’d rather go through all of bts’s videos before I consider stanning another group idk :/ Also, seeing other group’s esp the three I mentioned have fan signs, fan calls, and concerts looks so fun and I get jealous. Bc I like them a lil but not enough to do those things. Ateez seem best at performing. Seventeen has a funny af variety show, but their concerts have a part with their “aju nice” song repeating. (The aju nice seems so cult like lol) Stray kids have nice concerts too. The increased fan interactions with seventeen and stray kids concerts omg. Skz seem massively overworked rn tho. Concerts two years in a row?? Wtf is their company thinking?? Their leader Chan said he felt like he was going to die in a live, idk the context tho :/
