VERSACE ON THE FLOOR. -l.jh
ooh, i love that dress but you won’t need it anymore –
Or, the time you and your homebody boyfriend* decide to just… not go to your dinner plans.
pairing; lee jihoon x fem reader. content; fluff, suggestive (MINORS DNI). established relationship. warnings; relatively warning free (y'all i didn't even swear???) but just in case -- a couple of dorky jokes, reader wears a dress, makeup and heels, making out, undressing. let me know if i've forgotten anything. w/c; 2.4k (apparently i am in my shorter fic era? party.) note; if there's one thing i'm gonna do, no matter what day of the week it is, it's be disgustingly delusional about jihoon. get ur dentists on speedial, it's a tooth rotter (/j). note 2.0; i've had this one in the drafts for so long i had forgotten all about it! but then VOTF came on shuffle a few days ago (and i started thinking about light a flame woozi at the same time, which nearly fucking killed me), so. here we are. enjoy.<3
Tumblr media
You don’t go out for dates very often. Not anymore, at least.
When you and Jihoon first got together, he took you out all the time. For dinners, to cocktail bars, to the movies, for walks down the beach, picnics by the river. It didn’t matter where you went as long as it put a smile on your face — all he ever wanted to do was make you feel special. No expense has ever been too great for his favourite girl, after all; he’s always loved to spoil you.
Now several years into your relationship, you’re a real pair of homebodies. Sure, he could take you out for a four course dinner at an expensive restaurant in the middle of the city, or reserve a table at a pretentious cocktail bar that plays slightly too loud music that’s always just to the left of either of your tastes. Then again… He could cook a nice meal for you to have at the apartment you share, where you can make your way through a bottle of bubbles without one of you needing to stay sober to drive home or else risk your lives in a sketchy cab.
It’s something you’ve talked about several times, and on every occasion, it’s quite apparent that you’re both very happy with the way things are. If anything, it makes it all the more special when he tells you he needs you to keep your weekend free because he’s making plans, and he wants to whisk you away.
Like now, for instance. The hotel suite he’s booked is gorgeous and you’re perched on the edge of the plush bedding, bent over double so that you can properly fasten your shoes while he finishes getting ready in the bathroom. Now and again, you hear a grumble or a click of his tongue float through the ajar door; every time, you feel a smile play at your lips as you shake your head. He never changes. (You’re so glad.)
“Jihoon,” you call to him softly. You can practically see how he’ll be standing – facing the mirror, on his tiptoes to lean over the bathroom counter and get as close to his own reflection as he possibly can. Pouting as his fingers drag through his hair to try and fix the strands in place just a tiny bit better. “Don’t you dare come out here looking like Sonic the Hedgehog. You know the more you play with it, the more annoyed you’re going to get.”
A few seconds later, he emerges, an eyebrow raised in challenge, an amused grin tugging his lips out of their habitual frown.
(And lo and behold — his hair looks absolutely fine.)
But the second he sees you, whatever witty comeback he was obviously very proud of dies on his lips, and you straighten up with only one of your shoes secured to your foot, the other just slipped on over your toes.
“Wow,” he says, in that soft, deep, quiet way that he does when you’ve really taken his breath away. You watch his Adam’s apple bob in his throat as he swallows; you see his brow crinkle and his eyes widen, as if he’s trying to see as much of you as he possibly can. “Is that…?”
“Yeah,” you nod proudly, sitting back and smoothing your hands over the dress you’re wearing. “From our first anniversary.”
As his eyes move over you, taking in everything from the way the straps sit on your shoulders to the way the hem lays across your thigh, your own eyes move over him. The top three buttons of his shirt are still unfastened and his tie hangs either side, tucked beneath his collar but not knotted yet. His slacks have been cleanly pressed, a neat, crisp seam running down the front of both legs. Shoes shined to perfection. Expensive watch strapped around his wrist.
He might just be the most handsome man in the entire world.
“I remember you saying you really liked it, so… I dug it out, special.”
“You look incredible,” he says. It’s so gentle, so sincere, that you think your heart is about to burst clean out of your chest. Warmth trickles the length of your spine, and it isn’t exactly helped when you realise – only now as he starts to cross the room to get closer to you – that he hadn’t moved an inch since he surfaced from the bathroom almost a full ninety seconds ago.
He shrinks down so he’s rested on both of his knees in front of you, skilful hands moving to help with the shoe you hadn’t managed to lace up yet. every time his fingertips so much as brush against your skin, the electricity in his gentle touches shoots all the way from the point of contact up to your brain and leaves it fogged, impossible to make any sense through the thick clouds of intimacy and adoration. More-so as he smoothly lifts your leg a little and presses his lips once to the inside of your ankle, even foggier still as he trails kisses up the length of your calf towards your knee.
“Jihoon,” you laugh breathlessly, laying a hand on his shoulder as you feel his tongue press lightly against your skin. He finally sits back on his heels, running his fingers up and down the backs of your legs; he’s successfully managed to hike your dress up a few inches now, too, and he keeps flitting his gaze between your face and your thighs. “We can’t – we’ll be late.”
“We have ages,” he frowns, shuffling closer and trying to bump your knees apart, but you keep your muscles engaged and he doesn’t pull at them that hard, so they don’t budge.
“We have to get there, too,” you remind him. He throws his head back and sighs dramatically. The neckline of his dress shirt seems to open a little more when he looks back at you, drawing your attention down the length of his neck to his bulging chest, and the muscular forearms that he crosses in front of it.
“And this is why we don’t go out.”
“What, because you’re horny all the damn time?” You tease.
He gently swats at the top of your thigh before soothing it with another small kiss.
“Because when you look this good, how am I supposed to want to go and eat a steak instead?”
He grins up at you from the floor, quite clearly delighted with himself for his little gag. You, however, flop back onto the mattress and cover your face with your hands.
“That was so bad,” you chuckle. You’ve been trying for years to not melt to his very specific sense of humour, but it’s all been completely futile. Your reluctant laughs turn to sweet, breathy giggles by the time he lays both his arms across your legs and rests his chin on top of them. You prop yourself up on one elbow to look at him; he’s staring up at your face like he thinks he’ll never see anything as beautiful as you for the rest of his life.
“Maybe… We don’t have to go out for dinner,” he suggests. “Maybe we can stay in tonight, too.”
“Horndog.” You tsk. But you’re not disappointed at the idea of staying in, either, regardless of whether your teasing implies otherwise. “I knew you’d say that.”
“No — really,” he swallows. You aren’t sure if you can feel his heart beating a little faster where his chest is pressed completely against your shins, or if you’re just imagining it. But the tips of his ears are going pink too, so you think it’s safe to trust your intuition on this one. “I mean-… we don’t have to go. I could-…”
He bites the inside of his cheek before he looks down, pressing his forehead against his arms and hiding his face completely.
“I could do it here.”
He says these words quietly. Mumbles them, really. You aren’t sure if you were meant to hear, or if he was just talking to himself. But either way, it has to be worth a shot to find out.
“What do you mean, Ji?”
One, two, three seconds pass. And… Nothing.
“Hey.”
You bounce your thighs a little so he’s forced to look up at you, and you can see something swimming in his eyes. Something brewing. He sits back from you and pushes a hand through his hair; a few strands lose their stick to the rest of the main body and tumble down over his forehead. Exactly in the way he was trying to prevent.
“I could just do it here.”
He says this louder. Clearer. With much more finality. You sit up properly, then, both your hands clasped together in your lap.
“Do what here, baby?”
His eyes find yours and you sit there for a few moments, unwrapping each other's minds with nothing more than a look and a matching pair of gentle — but slightly concerned — smiles.
He moves one hand down and slips it into the back left pocket of his slacks. You think you can feel the world around you start to slow.
When he shifts a leg from beneath him so he’s on one knee before you and presents you with a glittering diamond ring, it stops altogether.
“Jihoon,” you breathe.
He glances between the ring and you, biting his bottom lip before he speaks.
“I had it-… I had everything planned.” He laughs, looking away from your face as even more rising heat becomes evident on his own. “Down to the second, even. But just like you always do — just like the first time I saw you, and just like every time since… You threw me a curve ball and… Somehow, you’ve changed everything. But you made it so much better.
“I think I was supposed to find you, y/n,” Jihoon says. “I don't know what’s up there, what’s in charge of when we meet the people we meet and why we fall in love with the people we fall in love with. but I know that they were really looking out for me the day you came into my life.”
You can feel your eyes starting to sting at the corners and you will the tears away, desperate not to smudge the makeup you spent so long trying to perfect. You know he’d love you either way — mascara tear tracks and splotchy concealer and all — but…
“I am so in love with you that sometimes, it really hurts. It hurts because I know that no one’s ever going to come close — about anyone in the world — to feeling the way I feel about you. I feel bad for everyone, a bit. Because you’re not-… you're not with them. You’re with me. But I wouldn’t want any of them to be with you, because-... and… and if you’ll have me, I want you to be with me forever.”
You don't know when you started slowly nodding along to his little monologue, but you definitely are. You’re not sure when you started holding your breath either, but that’s two for two. He looks up at you, expectantly, fluttering his eyelashes and stuttering out a long, deep breath.
“Y/n, will you marry me?”
Some decisions, you’ve always thought, are made for you at a cosmic level. Your favourite colours. Your favourite foods. Hot and cold weather people. Loving or hating marmite. A predisposition to enjoying scary movies or being the kind of person who hides behind a pillow.
This is another one of those. You don’t have to think twice about it — you just know. You know because a great unstoppable force managed to squeeze you together at the perfect moment in time; the ever-expanding universe around you has kept you and Jihoon side by side through everything it could possibly throw at you.
“Yes.”
Of course you want to spend your forever with him.
The word leaves your mouth in a whisper and everything flies back into motion. The first black droplet rolls down your cheek. His usually so steady hands fumble with yours to slide the ring over your finger. A perfect fit. You’re hurtling through space and time as he gets up off his knees and cups your cheeks, gently pulling you upright and crashing his lips against yours. You stumble into him slightly in your heels; his kiss is more a chaotic clatter of teeth and giddy laughter than perhaps the intense, romantic gesture he was aiming for, but it’s completely, utterly, unequivocally perfect.
Jihoon’s fancy dress shirt creases under your fingers as you ball it into your fists where the top buttons are spread open, pulling him as close as you can, laughter dying down as he loses himself in you and as you lose yourself in him, right back. He swallows all of your gasps and sighs, hands sliding down from your face to the sides of your neck, until he’s resting a palm on each of your shoulders. A single finger slips beneath one of the straps and he pulls it out of the way, down onto your arm, withdrawing from your mouth so that he can press a series of kisses down your cheek and to your jaw instead.
“Ji,” you murmur, tipping your head back and fumbling at the buttons running the length of his torso, trying and failing to get them open. He chuckles, his other hand coming to rest over yours to stop you. You lace your fingers together, feeling him squeeze. Your heart pounds.
“Let's take our time,” he whispers to you, thumb grazing over your collarbone. “Okay?”
All you can do is nod as he kisses lower, and lower, pressing his lips everywhere he can while he’s still standing. Your neck and shoulders feel ablaze, tickling with the heat of the burning stars his mouth paints across your skin.
“Need-... Ji, you need to-... call… call the restaurant,” you stutter. “Gotta…. we need to cancel…”
The fleeting sting of his teeth against your throat interrupts you and you’re only aware of him reaching behind you to tug the zipper of your dress down when the material falls completely slack..
“In a minute,” he says, helping you walk backwards until your calves collide with the bed behind you once again. He eases you to lie down on the comforter and crawls on top of you, caging you in with both arms, taking hold of your left hand again.
He looks down at the ring on your finger, his entire face breaking into the most brilliant of smiles. Every inch, from the creases at the corners of his eyes to the paling stretch of his beautiful lips.
“My future wife needs taking care of, first.”
– no you won’t need it no more, let’s just kiss ‘til we’re naked, baby.

Trudy Sloane
Tumblr media
This story is my submission for #Sloane Washington Appreciation Week. Yes, it’s late. (SORRY!) For those who are unfamiliar, Sloane Washington is a potential LI for the Perfect Match MC, and possibly one of the better characters PB has created. She’s beautiful, highly intelligent, and has a myriad of interests and hobbies including astronomy, science-fiction (reading, writing, watching), coding, Greek mythology; additionally, she has a fondness for penguins. What’s not to love?
There were so many amazing themes for Sloane Appreciation this year, but I chose to go with exploring Sloane Washington, the woman. There are threads of canon here, but mostly it’s head canons. And yes, William Sloane from Rules of Engagement made his way in here.
This has been hastily edited, and not read over by others, beta’d, or any of the things that reassure me the story makes sense and I haven’t crossed any boundaries, so anything that falls flat or sits wrong is solely on me. Call me out in the DMs on it.
Please excuse any and all typos, missing/extraneous words, and/or grammatical errors. MS Editor rates this fic as 100% error-free.
All characters belong to Pixelberry
Song Inspo: Cinnamon Girl, Lana Del Rey
Word Count: 2,225
Pairings: Sloane Washington x F!Kai Park (former), Sloane Washington x Khaan Mousavi
Rating M for Mature due to adult themes
Sloane Washington sits on the side of her bed, her palms running down her face as she scrubs sleep away from her eyes and cheeks. She rolls her neck to alleviate the pain caused by a crick as she exhales a quiet sigh while her eyes adjust to shadowy darkness.
The quiet in her domicile sounds … different somehow. She had been sharing her spaces with not one, but two people in the months following the downfall of Eros, but it was no longer a temporary arrangement subject to arbitrary whims and the trajectory of drunken arguments.
Gertrude Sloane Washington was engaged. To be married. The weight of the question asked, coupled with the permanence of her answer, changed everything. Or perhaps nothing. Time would tell.
Sloane extends her left hand, feeling the heaviness of the engagement ring on her third finger permeate her entire body. The modest gemstone twinkles weakly against the slivers of muted moonlight.
Naked, she rises and pads silently across the bedroom floor to a rocking chair that sits in a corner of the room. There’s just enough illumination eking through the closed blinds for her to make out her robe laying atop the pile of unfolded laundry sitting on the chair’s seat.
Her hair, normally plaited in an elaborate coronet braid, is twisted into two thick ponytails, one hanging over each shoulder blade. She lifts the tresses while black polyester fabric whispers against soft, almond-colored skin as she shrugs into the covering.
Sloane briefly glances over at the still-sleeping body in the bed; it heaves slightly and rhythmically, in sync with slumber-filled breath.
Khaan Mousavi. The man who would be her husband.
Sloane walks over to her bedside table, feeling the stickiness from their earlier coupling between her honeyed thighs before scooping her cellphone and exiting the room. She shuts the door quietly as the soles of her bare feet drag across the top of the carpeting; she takes a few steps before reaching the closed door of the apartment’s second bedroom.
It had been Hayden’s room once upon a time. Now, it was Hamza’s room. Hamza was Khaan’s son from a previous relationship, and soon to be Sloane’s stepson. Parenting was a frightening concept to Sloane, but hadn’t she essentially parented Hayden? The basics should be the same, right?
Brush your teeth.
Look both ways before crossing the street.
Be kind.
Don’t kill people.
She opens the door slightly, peering through the crack. A head full of brown hair lays on the pillow; the child lies on his back, small arms clutching a plush Sonic the Hedgehog. Soft snores emit from slightly parted lips. Blankets and sheets have been pulled away from his body, causing Sloane to hesitate in the doorway.
Should she go in and cover Hamza? She didn’t want the child to be chilled and potentially get sick. But Hamza was such a light sleeper …
Sloane shuts the door as quietly as she opened it, deciding to let the boy rest. She makes her way to the kitchen, her eyes taking in the furnishings that blended the girl she had been and the woman she had become.
Home.
The wall across from the bedrooms is covered with an enlarged photo of the aurora borealis; a corner curio next to the front door is filled with various diplomas, certificates, and awards bestowed upon the young scientist.
The entertainment center is filled with photographs of Sloane: a newborn baby, held in her mother’s arms; with her mother at both her high school and college graduations, both smiling broadly; college Sloane with the STEM club; with her current social circle, her arms wrapped around the waists of Kai Park and Hayden Young.
A bookcase is filled with books and DVDs, mostly science-fiction, dystopia, and documentaries.
The walls are covered with prints and vintage photographs of vaudevillian comedians. Sloane’s a fan of slapstick comedy because of its straightforwardness; there are no nuances to decipher or innuendo to wade through. The comedians share wall space with photographs and posters of historical women of color.
She makes it into the kitchen, walking across tiled flooring that had once rubbed her back salaciously when a former lover covered her face with sloppy kisses before taking Sloane drunkenly upon its freshly mopped surface just before a dinner party.
The same flooring that had taken the beating Sloane’s fists had pummeled against it when the lover left.
She glances quickly at the counter, seeing the stack of mail Khaan had tossed there before dinner. Sloane tightens the belt of her robe as she quickly sorts through the letters. Bill, bill, junk mail; she frowns at the last envelope, addressed to Gertrude Washington.
She knows immediately it’s junk or a solicitation of some sort. Sloane hadn’t been Gertrude in over a decade.
Sloane never bothered to ask her mother why she named her only child Gertrude; she had always assumed it to be a family name, belonging to a favorite aunt or an almost-forgotten great-great-great grandmother.
What she told herself is that she was named after a great woman in history.
Perhaps Gertrude Bacon, an aeronautical pioneer and writer with contributions in astronomy and botany; or Gertrude Barrows Bennett, an American writer of fantasy and science fiction. Sloane’s personal favorite was Gertrude Blanch, the mathematician.
Gertrude grew up in Washington, DC in an era where the options for black residents were limited. Children from lower-income families were encouraged to enter the military; mid-income parents steered their offspring towards the federal government for the job security, or vocational school to learn a high-earning trade such as cosmetology, barbering, or plumbing.
Even as a child, Trudy, as her mother affectionately called her, was different. She was a voracious reader and loved spending rainy Saturday afternoons curled up in bed with a good book. She didn’t watch the other television shows her friends watched; Trudy was a fan of the Star Trek franchise, religiously watched the PBS science series NOVA, and instead of playing with dolls and makeup, she took anything mechanical apart to find out what made it work, in the hopes of improving it.
But her formative years weren’t comprised of only reading, libraries, and mechanics; her mother insisted that her daughter go outside to play and socialize. Summer days were spent outdoors with her friends and other neighborhood children riding bikes, roller skating, walking to nearby parks, and jumping rope on sidewalks.
It was a decent balance.
Sloane opens the refrigerator door, reaching for leftovers from dinner: Chinese food. She’s of a firm mindset that Chinese food and pasta are the foods of lovers. It was a no-brainer when Khaan asked what she wanted to eat after he proposed.
She methodically sets containers of wonton soup, spicy vegetable dumplings, ginger garlic tofu, and onion fried rice on the counter before reaching for a plate from the overhead cupboards. Khaan and Hamza preferred a cleaner diet; Sloane was not opposed, but expected no flack when she chowed down on cheeseburgers and pepperoni pizza.
University was an eye-opener on many levels for Trudy. The college’s population was a sea of diversity Trudy had never been exposed to before; her uptown DC neighborhood was completely black. Her inner-city schools had been filled with black faces of varying hues. Here, on campus, there were complexions of every color, accents and languages that were foreign to her nation’s capital-domesticated ears.
Academically, she soon discovered that high school wasn’t even a blueprint for navigating higher education. Her achievements, her being named valedictorian, her extracurricular activities meant nothing. Trudy was starting from square one, with only a thirst to learn and know more.
Socially, she found the best way to make friends was to network. While her social anxiety made being around strangers and large crowds difficult, Trudy signed up for the newly formed STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) club, the campus chapter of Hogwarts International (she was House Ravenclaw), and volunteered on the Student Government Association’s board. She began listening to AM radio, home of underground music and arguably, the birthplace of the podcast so that she could contribute to pieces of conversations swirling about her in the food hall.
Slowly, Trudy went from geeky loner to having a small circle of friends which was all she had wanted. She was there for a purpose, not popularity.
On a personal level, Trudy found herself eyeing both male and female classmates; her cheeks would bloom with blush when seeing someone especially attractive, and she would avert her glances when eye contact was made. She had never truly thought about nor questioned her sexuality. She admired physical beauty equally, and if someone caused certain urges to arise, so be it. To Sloane, it was simple: she liked them. In that way. But she never thought to act on anything until William Sloane, her first boyfriend.
William was a business major, with his life planned out for the next 10 years. He was tall, handsome, broad-shouldered, and a known Lothario. It was no wonder he caught Trudy’s eye; for her, the mystery was how she caught his. For a year, they shared study nights, attended concerts headlined by local talent, and found themselves late at night sweaty and tangled in wrinkled sheets before eating bowls of ramen while consuming cheap wine.
After an amicable breakup, Trudy found herself still drawn to the local music scene; she especially liked a group known as Angular Melodies. Trudy found herself traveling to see their shows: Philadelphia, Baltimore, Richmond, Va., and Charleston, SC. It was in the southern coastal town, surrounded by mossy trees, crepe myrtle, and enveloped in the most oppressive humidity known to man that Trudy met members of the band.
She was interested in the female lead singer, who was dating the female bassist. Who happened to have an interest in Trudy.
And that night after the show, in a cheap motel with faulty air conditioning and a bed too small for three bodies, Sloane Washington was born.
Sloane sits on her couch, legs tucked beneath her as she holds her plate of re-heated food. Her eyes are fixed on the television; Something the Lord Made plays on the screen. It’s one of her favorite movies. Her head lifts at the soft slap of bedroom slippers, and she smiles when she sees Khaan. His hair is free of its usual man-bun; he wears striped pajama bottoms and Sloane’s bedroom shoes. His eyes blink owlishly behind his glasses.
“Smells good,” he greets his fiancée as he plops in the sofa beside her.
“Have some,” Sloane offers as she pushes the plate towards him. “I’m getting full.”
“Thank you,” he replies as he takes the food. His eyes look over and meets hers. “For everything.”
Sloane nods before focusing her attention on the screen again.
He acts as if either of us had a choice in the matter.
They both knew their union was built on mutual admiration and respect.
And love. For another person.
Kai Park.
Kai was unlike any person Sloane had ever met before. Free-spirited and slightly irresponsible, but with a wit and knowledge that surprised even Kai herself at times, she breezed easily into Sloane’s life by way of Hayden, whom she had been matched with.
Sloane fought her feelings against Kai; the woman had Damien chasing her like a rabid dog and Hayden wrapped around all her fingers. Fearing rejection, or worse … hurting Hayden’s feelings, Sloane instead forged a friendship with Kai.
It was stepping into the deep end of the ocean without a life jacket.
The more the two women interacted, the deeper Sloane fell. But Kai was falling for Hayden, even after discovering he was not human. She was also torn about her feelings towards Damien.
Sloane revealed that she was bisexual and had been in a polyamorous relationship. It made no difference, and Sloane distanced herself from the friend group until one Richard Cummings was revealed to be a crucial link to bringing down Rowan West and Eros.
Sloane was shocked to discover that Richard Cummings was none other than Khaan Mousavi, the architect of the Matches’ framework. They had worked together previously until Khaan’s mysterious and abrupt departure from Eros. She had always admired Khaan, or rather, Khaan’s keen intelligence and attention to detail.
She respected him.
Kai, however, had different ideas. She had made her choices regarding her love life, and neither Sloane nor Khaan had made the cut. Her thought process was to push the two who hadn’t won her heart together; she teased Sloane constantly about having a crush on Khaan, while foisting the idea of a relationship with Sloane onto Khaan.
The couple knew what Kai was doing, and they were both still so desperately in love with her that they allowed themselves to be “matched” to make her happy. It hadn’t been a bad decision; they had enough in common and had built a professional relationship along with cultivating a deep friendship.
And now they were going to marry.
Kai will be so proud.
Khaan puts the food away while Sloane dozes on the couch. Unknown to them, life is gestating within her body and has been for the past four weeks.
Down on the street, a sleek, black Town Car idles in front of the building. The two backseat passengers clasp hands as they stare up at darkened windows, unsure which ones belong to Sloane.
“They’ve stolen my child,” Soo-jin, Hamza’s mother seethes in a harsh whisper as she brushes dark bangs away from her forehead.
“They’ve taken children from both of us, my dear. They’ll pay. Soon,” Rowan West promises before tapping on the glass partition, signaling the driver to pull off.

TIMING: sometime before kaden got snacked on PARTIES: @chasseurdeloup & @magmahearts LOCATION: a latte to love SUMMARY: kaden is just trying to get his job and remove a pin ball from a coffee shop. cass thinks this situation needs a superhero. CONTENT WARNINGS: none!
Before arriving, Kaden wondered if the call about a “weird hedgehog rolling around like sonic” (whatever that last part meant) at A Latte to Love was a prank or not. He didn’t have the best reputation at the cafe and he wouldn’t put it past someone to make shit up for animal control to come running. Still, he did his due diligence, grabbed a cage, a net, his snare, and a few knives just for good measure, and headed downtown.
When he saw patrons charging out of the shop, some protecting their coffee instead of themselves, he was pretty sure it wasn’t a prank call. Putain. He swung the door open and ushered as many people as he could through the threshold before stepping in himself.
Something told him this probably wasn’t going to be a normal hedgehog or even a porcupine. More than likely it was some supernatural bullshit. He heard the clanging of metal before he saw what looked like a metal baseball covered in spikes rolling across the floor.
A fucking pin bill. Putain.
“Everyone out!” he shouted to the few stragglers. The employees behind the counter who were too afraid to abandon their shift for whatever reason looked confused. “Back room. Now!’ he told them, pointing to what looked like the door to the back of the shop. “Keep the door shut.”
Once the place was clear, it was time to get to work. First thing first, he had to get the thing to calm down. Kaden slipped over into a corner and hid behind one of the larger, plush chairs. He opened the cage and shoved it out towards the open, the back against the wall. He had no delusions that the little guy would just roll right in it, but on the off chance it might, it would be stupid not to be ready. He looked down at his arsenal. He wasn’t sure his net was going to cut it,  not against those spikes. He’d have to get creative.
Kaden glanced around the cafe, past the up-turned chairs and tables, the dishes on the floor, and the coffee and other beverages spilled everywhere, trying to find anything that could be useful. Maybe there was something behind the counter that would be useful. He just had to get there.
When you saw people running away from something, instinct was supposed to tell you to run with them. After all, no one took off in a full sprint to get away from something fun. More often than not, they were looking to save themselves from some awful, terrifying ordeal, and the human mind tended to want to do the same for whatever body it was sitting in. But there were exceptions to every rule. People ran away from danger. Superheroes ran towards it.
Cass was much more interested in being the latter.
So, when she saw a group of people running and screaming from a coffee shop, there was no real hesitation. She managed to stop one of the patrons who seemed calm enough to speak, asking them what was going on. Sonic’s lost his mind, the boy had sighed, looking distressed. The hedgehog is going to kill someone. And… Well, Cass had no idea what that meant. But she thought it probably sounded like a job for Magma.
It was moments like this when she wished phone booths were still a thing. It would be so cool to jump into a phone booth, drop her glamour, and jump out. But cell phones had killed that particular superhero cliche long before Cass got into the game, so she was stuck ducking into an alley instead. It was fine. It wasn’t like there was any real pizzazz to dropping her glamour, anyway. It just would have been cooler in a phone booth, was all.
Sufficiently ‘disguised,’ she made her way back to the cafe. All the customers were gone by now, having already retreated to the safety of the streets. Cass pulled the door open, the bell above it letting out a pleasant ding as she stepped inside. There was still a man in here. She blinked at him. “I think everyone else already left,” she told him. About as soon as she’d gotten the words out, a metal ball rolled by her, shooting out spikes. Cass narrowly avoided catching one with another owlish blink. “Whoa. Is that Sonic?”
Before Kaden could dart behind the cafe counter, he heard the little ring of the bell above the door. “Hey, we’re clo…” His voice trailed off when he got a look at who walked through the door – possibly more like what, not that he knew what that was, either. Whoever they were, their skin was covered in dark rocks, accentuated by orange, glowing cracks sunk in, winding like veins. If he had to describe it, she looked like some sort of molten core or at least what he imagined that would look like. He’d only ever seen volcanoes on video and he planned on keeping it that way.
He was so slack jawed and whoever it was that walked in that he nearly missed the flying ball of spikes headed right towards him. “Putain!” he shouted as he ducked, throwing himself to the ground as the pin ball flew past and rolled up the wall like it was a goddamn ramp before launching itself back across the room. “Why do people keep saying that?” he asked, looking back up at her.
Wait, damnit, the bar. This was his chance. Kaden pulled himself off the floor and remained crouching, watching the small, frightened, deadly creature. It was on the other side of the room, uncurled for the moment, breathing so heavily that Kaden could see it from where he was. Alright, so not calm, but calm enough. The hunter sprinted to the bar and leapt over the counter, ducking behind the espresso machines right as the beast tucked itself into a sphere again and launched itself across the cafe. He started to look for anything helpful, preferably metal. He wondered if the little pots or whatever they were for steaming the milk would be big enough to contain the little guy.
Merde, he almost forgot that he wasn't alone. That other… whatever-she-was was still there. He tried to run through what he’d learned throughout his hunter training but nothing that looked like that came to mind. The hell was she? She wasn’t a shifter, he’d have felt that, and no undead would look like that, he was positive. Fae? Maybe? What the fuck kind of fae would that be, anyway? Did that make her… a demon? “Uh, like I was trying to say, we’re closed. Come back some other time. But, leave… Please.” He really didn’t want to deal with a fucking demon today, a pin ball was more than enough.
The man was staring at her. That was okay; Cass was kind of used to that. People always stared at her when she was like this. Part of her had thought, when she’d first started to uncover the weirdness of Wicked’s Rest, that things might be a little different in this town. In a place where metal balls that looked like cyberpunk Sonic the Hedgehogs rolled through coffee shops shooting spikes at people, someone with rocky skin and glowing veins wasn’t the weirdest thing around, right? But people still ran from the cafe. People still stared at Cass. And that was fine. They could stare if they wanted to. She was still going to save the day.
“What’s a putain?” She asked, making no move to duck behind anything. She tended to lean towards recklessness more often than not; it was difficult to break through her rocky skin, and she didn’t think the hedgehog thing was capable of it. There was no need to hide from it, right? “Saying what? Sonic? It’s a video game. Have you never heard of Sonic the Hedgehog? They made it into a movie. The guy who played Cyclops is in it. They had to redo all the CGI because he had ugly human teeth. Do you, like, not go on the internet?”
The man was sprinting across the room before Cass was even finished speaking, and she thought he was going for the hedgehog for a moment. “Hey, I don’t think that’s a great —- idea?” Rather than do something stupid, like leap on top of the little hedgehog, the man jumped behind the counter and started… rummaging through the coffee stuff? “Are you making hot chocolate? They have a really good caramel hot chocolate here, but it’s kind of hot for that. It’s June.”
Carefully, Cass crept across the room to stand by the counter, looking around for where the hedgehog had run to. It was… ah! There! Looking around the empty cafe with an expression so like a frightened animal that it made her chest ache. Cass moved towards it slowly, pausing when the man spoke again. “What? No way, dude. I’m here to help. I’m a superhero. And this little guy needs to be rescued. Right, Sonic?”
Kaden started to rummage through the items behind the bar. The metal cups were interesting, he wondered if they were big enough to contain the pin ball long enough to get it into a crate. Before he could assess one way or the other, he realized that he still wasn’t alone. “Huh?” he said, looking up at her just standing there, no fear. “Putain is just a curse word and– could you duck or hide ro something? That thing runs into you, those spikes aren’t going to be like video game damage or whatever it is.” Alright, sure, she was covered in rocks all over her skin (maybe?) but that didn’t seem like a solid reason to stand there like a fucking target. “Or you can leave. That might be safer.”
He had no idea what she was talking about or what any of it meant but what he did know is that she was clearly not leaving. “Bordel de merde,” he grumbled to himself, looking for a bowl or pan or something bigger than the cups, maybe a dust pan, even. “Hot chocolate latte, huh? I’m not making anyth– Look, if you’re going to stay here, look for something that can contain the thing, alright?” The least she could do was attempt to be useful, but somehow he had a feeling this whole thing was just going to be more difficult than needed.
Metal cups, a plastic bowl, and his net in hand, Kaden looked up where he assumed the lava kid was. Only she wasn’t there by the counter anymore. She was approaching the pin ball. Goddamnit. “Hey,” he hissed, trying to keep his voice low, “don’t scare it. If you get too close it’s gonna–” And then it took off, whirling and whizzing around the room at top speed again, sending more furniture and broken dishware scattering around the place. “That. It’s gonna do that,” he said, gesturing to the spinning creature. He ducked when it reeled to roll along the side of the counter, just in case it went careening towards him.
Who the fuck was this kid, anyway? “A superhero?” he repeated once he popped up from behind the counter again. “What do you fucking mean a superhero? This isn’t a damn comic book, in case you didn’t notice.”
“Really? I’ve never heard it before. And I’ve heard a lot of curse words.” Growing up on the streets had taught her all kinds. But not putain. She wondered if he was just making it up. Humans lied about the strangest things, sometimes. “I don’t think it’s going to run at me,” she shrugged. “Anyway, I’m hard to damage.” Oreads certainly weren’t invincible — Cass had learned that the hard way more than once — but she was pretty sure she could handle a hedgehog. Even if the hedgehog was a little… hedgier than the usual fare. “I’m not going to leave, though. I’m here to help.”
He looked like he probably needed help. What was he grabbing bowls and stuff for? The question was answered before she could ask it aloud — something to contain the hedgehog. She furrowed her brow, looking at the guy’s uniform. “Aren’t you supposed to be animal control? Why are you containing Sonic with bowls and stuff? Don’t you have equipment? Did the state cut your budget? That happens in Parks and Rec, you know. That’s when Ben Wyatt comes in, and the show gets really good. So maybe it’s not such a bad thing.”
She approached the hedgehog as she spoke, uninterested in finding a bowl to put it in. Why would she want to stick it in a bowl? It wasn’t, like, soup or anything. It was a hedgehog. And it was kind of cute, if you could get past the whole ‘rolling ball of death’ angle that had sent the rest of the cafe’s patrons running. Cass felt a faint sense of kinship with it. Nobody really liked staying around her, either. They were scared of her, too. But… maybe Sonic was included in the list of people who were frightened by her.
Her face fell as the animal skirted past her. “You’re the one who scared it,” she accused sullenly, though she had no idea if that was true. She just wanted to think that Sonic would be more interested in being her friend if the situation were a little different. “I know this isn’t a comic book. But in case you haven’t noticed, there’s a lot of weird stuff here. A superhero isn’t the weirdest. And I think this town could use one. A lot more than Metropolis, actually.”
Kaden rolled his eyes. He really didn’t need anyone criticizing him when he worked. Especially not when they were also in the way. “Animal control equipment isn’t made with monsters in mind.” She kept talking and he wasn’t sure if it was relevant or not, but it was distracting. “And there’s no Ben Wyatt in my department. I don’t know who that is.”
He pinched the bridge of his nose as the creature skittered around, startled all over again. When she had the gall to blame him, the hunter could only narrow his eyes and glare at the kid. Even being a… whatever she was, he knew that he was dealing with a kid somehow. He also knew she was making this five times more difficult than it had to be. “Well, have you tried being a superhero there instead?” He asked.
With a sigh, Kaden accepted that he was going to have to work with her instead of kick her out. Putain de merde. “Alright, you can help. But I need you to at least work with me.” And stop getting in the way. He put a finger to his lips, asking her to be quiet. He wasn’t sure if she was capable of that. He crouched down and motioned for her to do the same. “If you go behind it quietly, we might be able to lure it into the crate over there,” he said in a low voice, pointing to the open cage. “Then we can bring it somewhere out to the woods far away from people where it’s going to be a lot happier. Yes?”
“It’s a little mean to call him a monster.” Her voice was tighter than she meant for it to be. Was a thing a monster just because you didn’t see it every day? Just because it looked a little scary, just because it had the capability to hurt? That wasn’t fair. People had the capability to hurt, too. Humans, nymphs, vampires, any of them could hurt someone. It didn’t make any of them monsters, and it didn’t make Sonic one, either. “No it’s — It’s from Parks and Rec. The show. Have you not seen Parks and Rec? Dude.”
Did this guy not know what Metropolis was? Or Parks and Rec? Cass found herself feeling a little bad for him, honestly. He seemed grumpy, but if she’d never seen or read any Superman material and never seen one of the best sitcoms of all time, she’d probably be a little grumpy, too. She gave him a sympathetic look. “I’m going to lend you some comic books later. Okay?” Superheroism wasn’t always stopping poor little hedgehogs from tearing up coffee shops. Sometimes, it was also making grumpy French Animal Control officers less grumpy. Cass would gladly accept her key to the city, like, any day now.
Grinning, she clapped her hands together. Without her glamour, it made less of a slapping sound and more of a thud, but the excitement was clear on her face anyway. “Okay! I can do that. Teamup issues are, like, some of my favorites.” She quieted down as he motioned for her to do so, crouching beside him with an expression of deep concentration. “And we’re letting it go, right? Somewhere where it can be safe? You promise?” She wanted to help, but only if she was sure that Sonic would be okay.
Kaden wasn’t sure why her comment made him feel guilty. He sighed as he looked at the little pin ball, snuffling under one of the overturned tables, its breathing heavy and eyes wide, clearly still panicked. “Fine. You have a point,” he conceded. “Old habits die hard.” He hoped she didn’t ask too many questions about that. Too much to explain there
“I’ve seen the parks and recs department here, yeah. If you mean some other thing then absolutely not.” He was at least pretty sure that neither of his cousins had made him watch that yet. And if they had, it didn’t matter, he hadn’t paid attention. “Comic books?” he asked, looking up from the collection of bowls and other accouterments he’d laid out. “I’m good, promise. You can keep them”
Alright, it was a little cute that she was excited about teaming up for this superhero thing or whatever she thought this was. Not that he was going to admit that or show it. At all. This was still dangerous and not something she should be handling. “This is just a temporary team up, got it? This one time. Limited edition or whatever you call it.”
“We’re letting it go, yeah. Promise. It’s dangerous as shit but it’s only because it’s scared and ended up where it shouldn’t be.” He tried not to make a pointed glance towards the kid because, speaking of being where they shouldn’t be…  “Okay, I’m going to be on that side of the shop. I’m going to try and funnel it into that,” he said, pointing towards the crate he’d set up earlier. “Try and direct it this way. Take a bowl.” He handed her one of the metal bowls. “Use it as a shield if you need to. Don’t get hurt.” He gave her a look before nodding and heading to his corner.
He really hoped she wasn’t going to fuck this up. “Ready?” he asked.
He seemed to relent, and Cass felt a strange sense of relief at that. As if this little hedgehog not being considered a monster meant that she wasn’t, either, as if running around a cafe in a panic was the same thing as leaving a girl’s body at the bottom of a ditch. Fear could make a person — or a hedgehog — do all kinds of things, couldn’t it? If Sonic’s fear didn’t make him a monster, could Cass insist that hers didn’t, either?  “Why is it an old habit?” Curiosity drove the question, and she wondered how long this man had been chasing hedgehogs.
“No, not…” Cass trailed off, wondering if this whole endeavor was a useless one. Had this guy ever done anything but chase hedgehogs? Had he sprout from the ground fully formed with a hedgehog-chasing goal as the only thing in his mind? And a French accent, apparently? “No, you’re definitely borrowing some. This is sad. You’re making me sad.” She just felt bad for him, at this point.
But the team up was still exciting. “A one-shot. Got it.” As if every one-shot didn’t sprout into something bigger so long as it was popular enough. She and French Guy were totally going to get the real-life equivalent of their own team-up ongoing title after this, she could feel it. They just had to take care of Sonic first.
She smiled as he promised they’d be letting the little creature go, binding him to it just in case. He didn’t strike her as the kind of person who’d lie about that, but Cass knew that it was better to be safe than sorry, sometimes. Humans lied about all sorts of silly things. You could never be too careful, especially not when there was a spikey little life on the line.
Taking the bowl, she nodded. “You got it, boss. Don’t worry about me. I’m tough.” Walking over to stand off to the side between the door and the crate, she shifted her grip on the bowl to flash her partner a quick thumbs up. “Ready!”
“Uh…” Kaden reached back to rub the back of his neck. Didn’t know how to explain that one. Well, beyond the truth, at least. “You know, just how some colleagues refer to some of the stranger animals around here.” Not a complete lie but certainly not the truth of the matter. He wasn’t sure what she was but he knew well enough that introducing himself as a hunter then and there was probably not the best idea. At least not until after the pin ball was contained.
“Good,” he said after she told him that he made her sad. As much as he tried to keep it off his face, a small smile peaked through. He’d never quite bantered with his sister like this, Keira was always far too serious for that, but it felt almost like something that could have been. It certainly reminded him of talking to Alex. He wondered if they were the same age. Not that he’d know by looking at her all covered in rocks and lava. “Alright, let’s get this one-shot over with.”
Kaden crept around the side of the counter, searching for where the little guy had run off to. He was still under a table, snuffling around for crumbs, but still alert and ready to dart off at any moment. Which was fine, it could dart away, it just had to do it at the right moment and in the right direction. Kaden took quiet, crouched steps forward, inching closer to the beast, a bowl in hand in case he could manage to trap it himself. Just a little closer now. His arm stretched out, he was about to drop the bowl on top of it and then–
“Putain,” he grumbled as he knocked his head onto the side of a table. And with that, the creature was off and spinning. Kaden ducked and tried to cover his face with the bowl in case it spun in his direction. It was up to his “sidekick” now, he supposed.
—-
“Well, they shouldn’t do that,” Cass replied, crossing her arms over her chest. It wasn’t fair. Not to the hedgehog, not to any of them. Calling something a monster just because you didn’t understand it was exactly the kind of behavior that made the fae who raised her so afraid of humans. When they convinced themselves that you were a monster, they said, it made them feel as though they had a right to do whatever they wanted to you.
Good? Good? Cass shot him a glare, though she had to try to hide her own smile as she did so. This was kind of fun, wasn’t it? None of the other young fae in her aos si had ever had much interest in interacting with her, though there hadn’t been any close to her age, anyway. But she liked to imagine this was the kind of interaction she’d missed out on with them — gentle ribbing, fond teasing. Like she’d seen on TV, or read in comics. Friendly banter. She knew all about that. “I’m going to put slime in your socks,” she told him seriously. That was a thing people said, she was sure of it. “Okay, but I’m Spider-Man. You can be… the Hulk or something. There aren’t a lot of French heroes, sorry. Oh! Northstar is French-Canadian. Do you want to be Northstar?”
French Animal Control Guy was doing his thing, so Cass did hers. She crouched down, bowl in hand, and watched Northstar dart towards Sonic and… fail miserably. At least he’d tried, she guessed, even if he was ducking like a guy in an old war movie now. With him out of commission, Cass knew it was up to her. No big deal, whatever. That was how one-shot comics usually went, anyway.
Moving forward, Cass took a… slightly different approach. She pounded a rocky hand against the metal bowl, spooking the hedgehog. It jumped up, scampering away from her… and into the trap her ‘partner’ had laid out. Quickly, Cass slammed the door shut and latched it with a cheer. “Hell yeah! Spider-Man and Northstar save the day! US-Canada relations have never been better!”
—-
“Slime in my socks?” Kaden asked, raising a brow. Was that a thing with kids or something? He hadn’t heard Alex tell him that but she was usually teasing him about his hair so maybe she just didn’t get around to it. “As long as you don’t put it on that video clock app thing.” She was odd, that was for sure, but somehow endearing. It was almost annoying. It made trying to tell her to go away a lot harder. That was, until she suggested that he be some French-Canadian guy. The ranger shot her a look. “I would rather die than be québécois.”
Despite the insult, she still managed to steer the pin ball right into the cage. He was almost impressed. Not that he couldn’t have managed this whole mess by himself. Probably would have been faster, too. Still, he sighed and stood up, brushing any debris off his pants before setting the bowl back on the counter. “Alright, now it’s time to get this little guy off where he actually belongs.” Kaden started gathering his supplies, getting the rest of his gear together before he took the handle of the crate. “You did alright, kid. Or, uh, what’d you say, Spider-man?” His head tilted as he looked back over at her. “You look more like a, uh, I don’t know, Lava Girl? Something like that. Not sure where the spider thing came from but sure.” He shrugged. It was all a foreign concept to him, the super hero stuff. “Guess I should thank you or something.” It then occurred to him that she might take that as an invitation to “help” him some other time. “Next time, you can just leave it to me, alright?”
“You heard me,” she warned, pointing at him with an expression she fought to keep serious. When he spoke of a clock app, her brow furrowed. “I’m pretty sure no one is putting anything in their clock app except for alarms.” What was a video clock app? Was that some new alarm system? She didn’t use alarms much herself — not having a job meant she woke up when she woke up. Maybe this ‘video clock app’ was something people used now. She couldn’t imagine anyone her age putting much stock in it, though. Thoughts of this mysterious clock app faded when the guy shot her a look, apparently unhappy with being compared to Northstar. “I don’t know what that means,” she said, brow furrowing. “Is this because Northstar is gay? I don’t know any straight French superheroes. You’re asking for too much here. Anyway, Northstar is cool.”
In any case, the one-shot ended just as successfully as one-shots tended to in the comics. No Kingpin showing up to kick off some wider plot and announce a new title, no major character death to be undone by the next issue. Just a little spikey hedgehog safely tucked away in a cage. “You have to keep him safe,” she reminded the man. “You promised.” But she wasn’t particularly worried about him keeping it, bind or no. Praise, even from a stranger, made her sit up a little straighter, and she smiled. “Actually, it’s Magma. I go by Magma.” And he didn’t even know comics well enough to know she’d ‘borrowed’ the name from X-Men. “You don’t have to thank me. I’m just doing my job.” Her self-assigned job that no one paid her for. Whatever. “And, just so you know? I’m definitely going to keep doing it.” There was no apology in her tone; it wasn’t a request for him to try to stop her. It was just… a friendly warning.
“Alarms? No this is the one with the dancing and the pranks that my cousin is on all the time. Something about ticks? I don’t fucking know.” Kaden was sure she knew what it was. If she could rattle off all this shit about superheroes and media and what not, she knew about the clock app. “What? What does this have to do with anyone being gay?” Kaden couldn’t follow any of this, there was too much jargon to keep up with. Then he realized. He ran his palm down his face. “Not queer, québécois. As in French-Canadian. Meaning he’s Canadian, not French. I’m French. And I’m not fucking straight, either. Thanks for asking.”
“I’ll do my best. I’m going to find the safest spot I can in the woods for him to spin around. Somewhere far away from town.” And somewhere far away from the cabin. Just in case the spinning death ball decided to spin right into the wooden walls. Seemed like a bad idea. “Right,” he said when he called this her job. “This is actually my job, I get paid for this. But guess there are worse sidekicks to have. Take care of yourself, Magma.”
“Do you mean TikTok? Dude.” Somebody needed to get this guy on Urban Dictionary. Or… maybe not. Cass wasn’t entirely sure he wouldn’t lose his mind. He’d probably start using slang from 2012 if he tried, and that just sounded painful. “What’s wrong with being French-Canadian?” Now she understood him even less. But, hey, at least he had one thing going for him: “Oh, hell yeah, you gay little Frenchman! Be gay, do crime!” She raised a hand excitedly, cheering him on.
Now that she knew Sonic would be safe, it was easier to relax. The animal control guy would keep his promise, the hedgehog would be okay, and Cass had a new sidekick to call on. She just… needed to educate him a little bit first. She’d find an easy comic series to introduce him to. It’d be fine. “You take care of yourself, too, Notstar. I’ll see you around.” With a sloppy salute, she ducked out of the cafe. Not bad for a day’s work.

Hello!! I was wondering if I could please request headcanons of agere silver the hedgehog with blaze as his carer :0!
Free free to decline for any reason, stay safe! <3
🧸 : oh sure!! Silver is my favorite sonic character!! 💕 and I love these too and their relationship, it was fun to think of them in a regressor/cg relationship!
Tumblr media
💓 REGRESSOR! SILVER & CG! BLAZE
• Silver’s age usually flip flops, depending on the situation & what he’s feeling. He regresses to a bouncing curious 8 year old, or a sleepy baby <3
• He usually has good control over when he wants to slip into small space. But he regresses involuntarily when he feels overwhelmed - but that doesn’t always mean it’s a bad overwhelmed! Sometimes it’s when he’s really happy or excited!
• When he’s in a 8 year old headspace, he’s almost always drawing or reading books. especially books about nature. He stims constantly too! Always bouncing his leg or kicking his feet. He’s very chill, and enjoys playing with legos or board games too!
• As for babyspace, he specifically does it to go to sleep. He usually gets super anxious at night and it’s hard for him to sleep, so he finds it best to regress beforehand! He’s much more relaxed and knocks right out.
• Realizing this was regression just kinda clicked for him one day. No slowly figuring it out or anything, he just thought these were “childish habits.” Randomly he realized it was more & he was in the actual mindset of a child - just like “OH that’s what it is!! it makes sense!!”
• Knowing this, he began embracing it and making more of a schedule when he wanted to regress. Though he didn’t mind when he slipped involuntarily, but he was much more comfortable knowing when it happens.
• No doubt Blaze cares a lot about Silver, she has always looked after him in big and subtle ways. She had always picked up on these “habits” of Silver, but didn’t question it either. But the minute Silver figured it out himself, he had to tell his best friend about his age regression. She was supportive, and she made sure to pay more close attention to when he’s slipping, just in case.
• Same with realizing it was regression, Blaze just began his caregiver one day. No official conversation or anything, just happened and Silver couldn’t think of his regression time without her now. There was kinda a progression to it anyway, Blaze always did help small him when he needed, there really wasn’t a need for asking.
• Blaze’s caregiving style can be described as the big sister with parental qualities. She’s always there to play or read with him, but makes sure to be the one that’s looking after him and helping him, even when he doesn’t know it.
• Blaze isn’t the most affectionate cg, But Silver’s okay with that. Her number one way of showing love with touch is petting Silver head softly. He adores it, it really soothes him.
• Even since Blaze became his cg, they came up with a small bedtime routine to help him regress to sleep. She carefully helps him with everything and swaddles him in a blanket with his comfort items like paci & plushie. Then sits next to his bed and reads a book before he falls asleep.
• Speaking of his paci! He likes it having when he’s a kiddo as well. It’s such a huge comfort for him. It’s too embarrassed to ask for it, instead he just makes slight grabby hands. Because of this, Blaze always keeps it on hand so she can hand it to him.
• Blaze is weird with giving gifts. She loves giving them, but is too often embarrassed when doing it. Instead, she just hides them in places until Silver finds them. He comes across them eventually and just goes “where did this blue teddy bear come from,,” and Blaze just casually looks over and goes “oh, I got that for you a week ago. Hope you like it.”
• These two aren’t big on nicknames. What they are big on? Constantly naming plushies after each other. Purple bunny plush? “Look Blaze it’s you” It’s their favorite running joke, they have multiple plushies with their names and variants of their names - such as “Flame Cat” or “Mister Psychic.” This is not taken seriously at all and it really makes the both of them laugh.

Sonic Cyber Revolution Analyzer: The Enter The E.G.G.M.A.N Arc - Dr. Ivo “Eggman” Robotnik
Tumblr media
Team Neos cannot catch a breath! Just as they believed that they could return to their normal life, Neos City is suddenly overcome by a horde of robots, destroying everything in their path. The culprit behind this attack? It is none other than Dr. Eggman!
Chapters
Entry 17: The Challenge
Entry 18: Escape From The City
Entry 19: Enter The E.G.G.M.A.N
Tumblr media
The new Arc kicks off with Sonic and Lucas relaxing at their home, just chilling and watching TV, as well as commenting on the new Buddy Bots product created by the Tamago Corporation - robots that act like bodies for ARNavs to allow them to operate outside AR Fields.
Meanwhile, Tails and Warren are working on decoding the data they had found at the Codex Research Facility, with Tails enjoying the mint chip chocolate cookies Warren’s mother, Joanne, brought them, with Joanne gushing over how cute Tails is.
Knuckles and Lily are meanwhile visiting Starlight Lake at Infinity Forest, as Lily hadn’t been there before, but knows that it is a popular spot for visitors. There, they encounter none other than Big the Cat and his friend, Froggy, who is simply fishing and invites the two to fish alongside him.
Big the Cat & Froggy
Tumblr media
Big the Cat and Froggy are supporting characters of Sonic Cyber Revolution. They are Irregular ARNavs based on their in-universe video game counterparts and act as allies to Team Neos.
Big is a kind, carefree and laid-back cat with a friendly and mellow personality. He cares a lot for his friends, especially Froggy. He enjoys fishing leisurely and brings his rod with him wherever he goes. He is often giddy and optimistic, especially when with his friends.
Big, together with Froggy, made his home at Starlight Lake in Infinity Forest, although he can be seen fishing at other bodies of water, like Cosmo River in Neos City. Big doesn’t tend to participate in any of the action Team Neos, but he considers them his friends and will help them whenever he can, being capable of fighting with his fishing rod. He is quite upbeat and comfortable with his life, and while not the brightest bulb in the bunch, he is very good at giving simple advice, as seen with a traumatized Touka during The Final Haunt Arc.
Back to the story, we move onto Amy and Minami, who have just returned from a shopping spree, with Minami buying plush tarantulas to decorate her room, considering them both cute and scary.
Silver and Makoto, meanwhile, are at Eden, with Silver being upset that he still has no clue where to find Ignis Infernalis.
''I was thinking about the future,'' Silver replied, a despair forming on his expression. Makoto gave him a sympathetic look. ''I should be searching for Ignis Infernalis, but I have no idea where it is or how it formed. What if the future gets destroyed because I failed in my mission? What if I miss something and the flames spread before they can be stopped? What if I'm the catalyst for the apocalypse?!''
''Silver, calm down,'' Makoto said, kneeling down to be at Silver's height. The panicked hedgehog looked at him. ''Take a deep breath in, then out.'' Silver did as he was told, but it did little to calm his racing heart. ''Listen, I understand that this is all very scary for you.''
''It-It's not! I'm just worried…'' Silver tried to defend himself, but it was obvious that Makoto wasn't buying any of this. He hated to admit it, but he lived with the fear of failure and it was eating him inside out. Silver sighed and sat down on the grass, with Makoto sitting next to him. Silver stared at the grass, stroking it with his hand. It was quite soft and he liked the scent. ''I wish I had some kind of answer for this, but I don't. Every time I think about what might happened in the future, be it next year, next month, next week, tomorrow, or even in the next hour; I feel as if I'm supposed to do something to prevent it from happening. But, I don't know what is going to happen. It's so frustrating!''
As Silver freaks out over his inability to figure out how to prevent the apocalyptic future, Makoto manages to call him down, noting how he shouldn’t let his fears take over him and how he can always rely on his friends to help him.
As for Shadow and Touka, they’re at their room, currently busy playing Sonic Adventure 2, one of the video games Minami had sent them to check out. Kisaki, who went to check on the two, is surprised to hear that they have teammates and relishing in the fact that the two had actually made friends, even though Shadow and Touka try to deny it. Kisaki then informs them about the Buddy Bots, noting how the Tamago Corporation donated some to the children’s hospital she’s working at, before leaving for work.
Finally, at the Egg Base inside the Tamago Corporation, Metal Sonic and Ferra are talking to Dr. Eggman about his plans.
''It appears that you clearly don't understand my aesthetic,'' Eggman replied. ''It is out of utmost importance that everyone learns to fear the name Dr. Eggman.''
''It also seems to act as an ego boost,'' Ferra snarked, her comment making Orbot and Cubot, who were on the computers, snort in amusement, before quickly collecting themselves and focusing on their work when they saw Eggman glaring at them. Eggman then turned to Ferra.
''You are not wrong about that, but you had clearly missed the most important aspect of it,'' he said. Ferra had a feeling that he was talking down to her, but ignored it. After all, this was her life now. ''By announcing the Eggman Empire as an independent presence, I will draw attention away from the Tamago Corporation. No one will even suspect that it has any involvement in this plan, and I can continue using it as a cover as long as necessary.''
After Dr. Eggman confirms that Ferra and Metal Sonic will soon get to do their part of the plan, their fellow Enforcers, Toshiro Miwa and Mephiles the Dark enter the room, with Eggman being pleased that everyone has gathered and he can set his plan into motion.
''Ferra Ahearn and Metal Sonic, I presume.'' The teenager and his crystalline partner walked (or floated, in the latter's case) up to the two. ''The name is Toshiro Miwa, and this is Mephiles the Dark.''
''But, you already know that,'' Mephiles added. ''After all, we had corresponded before.''
''I know that you two were the ones who set us up to release Shadow,'' Ferra growled, glaring daggers at the two. ''Why? He almost destroyed Starpoint Area.''
''Too bad he didn't,'' Mephiles replied.
''What are you two talking about?'' Ferra hissed. ''Did you two seriously want Shadow to blow up the entirety of Neos City?''
''What do you think?'' Toshiro asked back instead of answering. Ferra shivered, stunned by his calm and surprisingly nonchalant tone. It was clear to her that these two were dangerous, but she had to wonder just how far did this rabbit hole go.
''Fine. Why did you tell me and Metal to awaken Shadow?'' Ferra asked. ''How do you even know about him?''
''You two consider yourselves Sonic and Lucas' rivals, correct?'' Mephiles asked. Ferra and Metal Sonic nodded. ''The same goes for me and Toshiro and Shadow and Touka. Our goal is to destroy both of them, but not before we make them suffer as much as possible.''
''You still haven't told us why you'd do that,'' Ferra noted.
''So we could ruin the surprise?'' Toshiro asked, smirking deviously.
''What surprise?'' Ferra asked, now agitated. Neither Toshiro nor Mephiles answered, as their attention was drawn to Eggman, who had managed to hack into every device accessible in Neos City.
''Everything is ready, Boss. You have full access to all broadcasting devices across Neos City,'' Orbot said.
''Splendid! Now, I can finally set my plan into motion,'' Eggman said, pressing a button.
Neither Ferra nor Metal Sonic particularly like Toshiro and Mephiles, learning that they were the ones who contacted the two and told them about Shadow in hopes that the Ultimate Lifeform would blow up Neos City. Similarly to Ferra and Metal Sonic’s rivalry with Lucas and Sonic, Toshiro and Mephiles have a rivalry with Touka and Shadow, but refuse to elaborate more on it.
As Dr. Eggman finally sets his plan into motion, we switch to Sonic and Lucas at Neos City, observing the holographic screen on the nearby building being replaced by a video of an announcement by none other than Dr. Eggman himself:
''Attention, citizens of Neos City! My name is Dr. Eggman, the world's greatest scientist, and soon to be the world's greatest ruler! You have been chosen to witness the beginning of the greatest empire of all time! My virus has already taken over every single robot in this city, and anyone who dares to oppose me will meet their demise! Therefore, don't bother with any kind of resistance!''
Then, as they observe their surroundings, they find themselves surrounded by the Buddy Bots, who are controlled by Dr. Eggman and are now attacking people.
Tumblr media
One way or another, all members of Team Neos witness the announcement, going on the streets to participate in the upcoming battle. Sonic and Lucas are in the middle of a battle in Sentoraru, fighting off the Buddy Bots as best as they can. Lucas calls the rest of the team, informing them about the situation. Warren and Tails note how they had checked out one of the Buddy Bots and that they have a hard drive that contains the ARNav data inside them, so they can be destroyed safely without affecting the ARNavs, as well as figuring that Dr. Eggman is using some kind of signal to control them. Once the call ends, Lucas and Sonic use Chaos Surge to get to Minami and Amy, the closest ones to them, faster and help them out.
Meanwhile, Dr. Eggman gloats about his brilliant plan, only to be informed by Orbot that Team Neos is fighting the Buddy Bots. Dr. Eggman has already anticipated this, calling Ferra and Metal Sonic to deal with them, while Toshiro and Mephiles have already left to do their part.
Minami and Amy, who are at Erekiteru, have already used their own Chaos Surge, allowing for Minami to summon her own hammer and smash the Buddy Bots. They witness an announcement from the news reporter Midorikawa about an evacuation, who then gets attacked by her own Buddy Bot, Kero.
Warren and Tails are rushing from their workshop towards Erekiteru, where they spot a Buddy Bot throwing an office lady out of the building and save her.
As for Lily and Knuckles, they need some time to get from Starlight Lake to Neos City, coming across a police barrier and trying to find their way around it.
Makoto and Silver have left Eden to get to Erekiteru, only to come across more of the Buddy Bots, getting stuck with a particularly vicious polar bear Buddy Bot and using Chaos Surge to overpower it.
Touka and Shadow, having remembered what Kisaki told them, have rushed over to the St. Nicholas Children’s Hospital, where they find it in a bad state, with Buddy Bots attacking both the staff and the patients. The two siblings managed to coordinate, with Touka instructing Shadow on where the Buddy Bots are so he can destroy them without hurting anyone.
Back with Lucas and Sonic, they’re still on their way to Erekiteru, only to get stopped in their tracks by Ferra and Metal Sonic, who now want another battle, with Lucas realizing the two have teamed up with Dr. Eggman.
Tumblr media
''Bring it on!''
Sonic charged up, blue sparks flying around him, confronting Metal Sonic. Sonic grinned, well aware that there was no way that Metal would be able to keep up with him while he was powered-up like this. He was running so fast, he appeared to be teleporting around his robotic counterpart. So, this battle would be a piece of cake, a simple game.
Metal Sonic had trouble keeping up with Sonic, his sensors flashing red as they tried to warn him about Sonic's whereabouts. He tried to predict where his counterpart would appear next, but there were too many results, overwhelming his mind. His vision suddenly turned to static for a moment as he felt Sonic uppercutting him, but he managed to stay afloat, turning to where Sonic landed next.
''You are really resilient, Metal,'' Sonic said, charging up for another attack. ''You are as fast as me and you got a fancy weapon. Yet, you can't take me down.''
Sonic and Metal Sonic engage in a battle, with Sonic having the upper hand thanks to the Chaos Surge powering him. Nevertheless, Metal Sonic still manages to keep up with Sonic, with Ferra taunting Lucas about it, who quickly figures out Metal Sonic and Ferra are here to stall him and Sonic.
Ferra then questions Lucas about how he’s able to use Chaos Surge, revealing it to be one of the reasons why they attacked the two. Sonic refuses to say anything, knowing that Metal Sonic would overpower him if he used Chaos Surge, but Lucas agrees, much to everyone’s surprise. Ferra and Metal Sonic then activate Chaos Surge, with Sonic spin-dashing right into the orb of energy as per Lucas’ instructions.
As it turns out, Lucas is low on BioEnergy, so he couldn’t support Sonic for long. With Ferra and Metal Sonic being in the middle of activating Chaos Surge, they were quite vulnerable, so attacking them would distort the process, leaving them weakened. Lucas then cuts off his own Chaos Surge, feeling low on energy, with him and Sonic quickly leaving for Erekiteru. Dr. Eggman, who watched the whole battle, figures that that would happen and decides that he would participate in the battle as well.
We cut to Shadow, still destroying all the hostile Buddy Bots at the hospital and coming across Kisaki and informing her about the situation. Once done defending the building, he and Touka leave the hospital to get outside.
Minami and Amy are still defending themselves, but Minami runs out of BioEnergy, leaving her vulnerable. They’re fortunately saved by Lily and Knuckles, who activated their own Chaos Surge, fighting off the Buddy Bots.
We then skip to Warren and Tails, who spot Buddy Bots that house the Irregular Hunters and decide to take them on considering how these have also weapons on them. Tails suggests they use Chaos Surge, with Warren agreeing, but he points out how they had never used it and how they don’t know the effects since Tails doesn’t have any special superpower like Sonic’s super speed.
Tails is reminded of how his bullies mocked him for his inability to create illusions, despite being a kitsune, but Warren cheers him up, noting how they need to take their chance. When they get attacked by a Buddy Bot, Tails releases some sort of electric wave, shutting the Buddy Bot down. They realize that Tails is, via Chaos Surge, capable of using an electromagnetic pulse that can affect the robots around them.
They come across Lucas and Sonic, managing to join Minami, Amy, Lily and Knuckles at Erekiteru. Unfortunately, Lily and Knuckles are also low on BioEnergy, the effect of the Chaos Surge being cut off. While the Irregulars fight off the Buddy Bots, Lucas, Minami and Lily join Warren, who attempts to pinpoint the signal that controls the Buddy Bots, and “borrowing” an antenna from the nearby electronics shop, allowing Warren to enhance the transmission signal and using the electromagnetic wave he and Tails gained to shut down all the Buddy Bots within the city.
''Well, the main point is that the day is saved and that we have earned ourselves a victory celebration,'' Sonic noted.
''Not until you learned your lesson of not wrecking other people's property, Hedgehog!''
Team Neos suddenly turned towards the source of the voice, feeling a sense of dread creeping up their spines. They were shocked to see giant humanoid red, black and yellow mech flying down, whose head and torso came together in an indistinguishable egg shape, with the head also having a metallic mustache and glasses. On it's back was a jetpack and on the front was a red panel while it's arms hand pointy needles for hands. While the Irregulars remained stunned, their human partners were all hit by a sense of recognition.
''Is that… the Death Egg Robot?'' Lucas was the one to break the silence, rising an eyebrow.
''Hey, yeah, I recognize it now! It's from Sonic the Hedgehog 2!'' Minami was now more excited than frightened. ''That's really cool! Are we fighting the Final Boss now?''
The Death Egg Robot's glasses started to glow, showing a projection of Eggman face.
''While I presume that you already know who I am, I believe that it would be extremely rude to not properly introduce myself before I crush you all,'' Eggman said. ''I am the most brilliant mind in this world, Doctor Ivo Robotnik, and to answer your questions, I know who all of you are, Team Neos.''
''Nobody asked anything, Eggman,'' Sonic said snarkily, walking up to the Death Egg Robot.
''Oh, so we are going straight for the nickname? Very well,'' Eggman replied. ''This may be our first encounter in this life, but unlike you, I am prepared to take you down.''
''You'd have to first catch me,'' Sonic replied, speeding off in a burst of blue, avoiding the Death Egg Robot's attempts of striking it down with its needle-like hands. One hand got stuck in the ground, with Sonic running up the arm and landing on the mech's head, staring down the holographic screen, with Eggman giving him an irritated look. ''Your robot is too slow for this hedgehog, Egghead.''
''Who said anything about matching your speed?'' Eggman replied, pressing a button. Sonic suddenly felt a surge of electricity charging through his body, crying out in pain as the robot grabbed him by the head and threw him straight into the asphalt, leaving a crack in the ground.
''Sonic!'' Lucas screamed for his partner, who was still alive, but visibly bruised. Sonic rubbed his head, looking up at the mech, his eyes widening when he saw miniature red and black mechanic orbs that started flashing red being launched at him. He quickly got up, dodging the explosions.
Unfortunately for Team Neos, just as they’re about to celebrate, Dr. Eggman interrupts them, having sent a remote-controlled Death Egg Robot to crush them. In this universe, this is the first time Sonic encounters Dr. Eggman and fights him directly. While Sonic is confident that he can handle the Death Egg Robot, he is still inexperienced with fighting Dr. Eggman, requiring backup from Amy, getting support from the rest of the team and an intervention from Silver and Makoto.
Silver figures that the Death Egg Robot will fall to his psychokinesis, only to be stunned when it turns out that Dr. Eggman made the robot to counter it.
''It's no use,'' Silver grumbled as he landed next to the rest of his teammates. ''I can't get past it.''
''Have you finally realized just how pathetic all of you are?'' Eggman taunted, only to see a flash of orange light and be met with an explosion powerful enough to make the robot stagger back. This was followed by a light blue light, revealing Shadow and Touka, both charged up thanks to Chaos Surge. Orange and red energy crackled around them, sparking like electricity, their eyes now glowing in the same colour.
''That's one way to deal with the mech,'' Sonic commented, grinning as he glanced at Shadow. ''Points for the dramatic timing, Shads.''
Shadow briefly looked at Sonic, before turning his focus back to the Death Egg Robot. Sonic just pouted slightly at the lack of response, figuring that Shadow wanted to just be done with this mission.
''Let's take him out in one shot,'' Touka said, feeling Shadow drawing her BioEnergy and preparing for an attack. While this was only the second time they used Chaos Surge, Shadow was more confident in his control over it. Red energy was building around him, the mech stepping forward, with Shadow pointing his hands towards it.
''Chaos Blast!''
Fortunately for the team, Shadow and Touka arrive just in time, with Shadow firing a Chaos Blast at the Death Egg Robot, only to learn the hard way that Dr. Eggman took into account his Chaos Powers and have the mech absorb the Chaos Blast before firing it back.
Now, everyone is de-powered, having no access to Chaos Surge, but they’re still willing to fight back, with Lucas trying to figure out some kind of weakness the mech might have. They scatter around, taking advantage of their numbers, with Dr. Eggman being too focused on the Irregulars to notice the humans.
Makoto spots a panel at the back of the mech, with Tails asking Shadow for help to warp closer to it so he can mess around with the wiring while the rest of his friends fight the mech directly.
''You're done for, hedgehog!'' He gleefully pressed a button, but to his surprise, nothing happened. ''Wh- What is going on?!''
Sonic just smirked. ''Looks like Tails took care of the defenses.'' He turned towards his friends below the mech, yelling. ''Everyone! Go for an all-out attack!''
Sonic then leapt, curling into a ball and spin-dashing straight into the mech, causing it to stagger back, but it regained its balance. Eggman gritted his teeth, firing the hands as if they were missiles at the group, but Knuckles and Amy leapt forward, punching and hitting each of the hand and drilling them into the ground, while Silver flew above, using his psychokinesis on the legs of the mech to keep it in place.
Meanwhile, Sonic landed right next to Shadow, grinning at the latter. ''How about we finally finish this?''
''I thought you'd be disappointed that the battle is already over,'' Shadow replied in a teasing tone, him and Sonic both turning towards the mech.
''Oh, I am, but I have a feeling this won't be the last one,'' Sonic responded, both getting into a starting position.
The two hedgehogs then rushed towards the mech at a speed of light, leaving only a blue and a black and orange streak behind, going into a spin-dash through each side of the mech's chest. Each of the hedgehogs landed on the opposite buildings, using the momentum to bounce off them and strike right through the mech in an X pattern in perfect sync before landing on the ground, skidding to halt as they now stood next to each other. The Death Egg Robot exploded into tiny pieces, the holographic projection vanishing as Eggman screamed in pure fury.
''I HATE THAT HEDGEHOG!''
After Tails de-activates the defense system, Sonic and Shadow perform and double spin-dash to take it out, with Eggman screaming in fury as the Death Egg Robot explodes.
While Team Neos celebrates their victory, they are observed by Toshiro and Mephiles from a building above, who figure that Team Neos will be better prepared now that they know about Dr. Eggman and wonder how to proceed with their own plan.
This is where The Enter The E.G.G.M.AN. Arc ends, with the following arc being The Babylon Rogues Arc, where Sonic and his friends not only meet the Babylon Rogues but also participate in a race. Are you ready for the Sonic Riders adaptation?
Dr. Ivo “Eggman” Robotnik
Tumblr media
Dr. Ivo “Eggman” Robotnik is an Irregular ARNav based on his in-universe video game counterpart, and the main antagonist of Sonic Cyber Revolution.
Described as the world's most vile person, as well as its worst screw-up, Eggman is an evil, mean, self-proclaimed genius scientist who always thinks about doing bad things. Suffering from ridiculous delusions of grandeur, he holds the psychotic belief that the world's problems will be solved if he rules the planet.
Dr. Eggman has appeared around five years prior to the setting of the main story, working in the shadows to establish the Tamago Corporation, a company focused mainly on innovations in the field of robotics, led by an android called Dr. Telos Tamago, the CEO of the company. While Dr. Tamago would keep up the company’s reputation in the public, Dr. Eggman would work behind the curtains, using the company’s resources to create an army of Badniks he can use to conquer Starpoint Area, enslaving all of the ARNavs and establishing his rule over humans.
Noted for being very selfish and filled with ego and greed, Eggman is extremely narcissistic and egotistical, having done all of his actions only for his own benefits. As a result of his arrogance, Eggman never puts a thought on other people, even ignoring his own allies when revealing himself and giving all the credit to himself instead. Overflowing with self-confidence and pride, he also holds a very high opinion of himself, and almost always highlights his "scientific genius" when introducing himself. As such, he hates it when others interrupt his speeches. Conversely, he looks down on virtually everybody else, referring to others as "insignificant" unless they can help him. However, due to his lack of empathy, he has no doubts in lying to others to make them his subordinates, and will happily abandon them at the last moment if they have outlived their purpose.
Despite his intelligence, Eggman can be very immature, which is what makes him so eager to conquer the world. This childish behavior makes him believe that taking over the world can be easy. Additionally, the doctor possesses a very short temper and can be angered very easily, leading to him throwing emotional and childish outbursts, screaming, and kicking stuff around when things do not go his way. The doctor also does not believe in fair play, and prefers to win games by cheating, to the point that he proudly admits it out loud.
One of Eggman's strongest points is his persistent self-confidence and an absolute refusal to give up, even in situations where most would accept defeat. However, despite his dedication to his plans, Eggman is never actually sure how to pull them off. He can also be so overly obsessive about achieving his goals that he either overlooks important work, skips key details, or fails to take into account some important factors, usually shown during his confrontations with Team Neos, failing to take into account their competence.
In spite of his immaturity, Eggman can be very serious and threatening. However, he shows this side very rarely, usually when extremely aggravated or during very serious situations. Under this pressure, he often attempts to intimidate his opponents by death threatening them. On a similar note, he was also shown to possess a rather bleak and cruel sense of humor.
Eggman stands out with his passion and love of robotics and machines in general, which he lives for and puts over anything else in life. He greatly admires Metal Sonic, the Irregular’s existence being the main reason why he invited him and Ferra to join The Eggman Empire, as well as being impressed by Ferra’s skills and intelligence, as well as her competence. He doesn’t also seem to mind too much the snarking directed towards him, courtesy of Ferra, usually reacting with amusement or just brushing it off.
Eggman is also rather manipulative and cunning, and while he rarely learns from his mistakes, he can easily outsmart his enemies when he does so. He is also well aware of Mephiles and Toshiro’s desire to destroy the world he wants to conquer, but still keeps the two around as his Enforcers for their pure destructive potential. Eggman will protect the world from other threats, noting how world conquest would be impossible if the world itself is gone. He is also the only person, aside from Mephiles and Toshiro, who is aware of the whereabouts of Professor Hiroshi Sakamoto, even working with the mad geneticist on occasion.
Eggman also appreciates any admiration and praise he gets for his accomplishments, usually from Dr. Starline. While he has accepted Starline as his apprentice, Eggman is well aware of the potential liability Starline might become and, in the grand scheme of things, uses Starline’s loyalty to his advantage.
Despite his desire for world domination, Eggman does, somehow, have a human side in his personality. He does not appreciate senseless destruction, tormenting and killing from other individuals and forces who are beyond his control and has an appreciation for the world he lives in. He is also willing to team up with Team Neos when the situation calls for it and can be civil towards them, even showing a sense of respect towards them, especially Lucas.
Eggman sees Sonic the Hedgehog as his arch-enemy, having developed his obsession towards the blue hedgehog after Team Neos stopped his plans during their first encounter. Unlike other Irregulars, Dr. Eggman appears to have memories of his alternative self, believing that encountering Sonic and his friends was inevitable no matter the world he is in and is fully willing to take advantage of his knowledge.
He sees his battle against Team Neos as a simple game, with the group being an obstacle in his plans to conquer Starpoint Area and establish Eggmanland and refuses to allow any outside party to participate in the game if they have no reason to do so (e.g. ARMS).
Orbot & Cubot
Tumblr media
Orbot and Cubot are a pair of robots built by Dr. Eggman, acting as his aides, mainly assisting the doctor in his schemes for world domination and making sure his plans are carried out correctly. They are often seen together.
Orbot is a highly intelligent, serious and level-headed robot with an eye for efficiency, but can also be rather sassy and spitefully sarcastic, voicing facts and opinions as he sees fit.  As such, he comes off as straightforward, insensitive and brash. However, he does not mean anything by it, and behaves mainly as such to give constructive criticism and approach subjects matter-of-factly. He speaks calmly and formally, yet without a filter, and is more honest to a fault than outright rude.
Cubot is a good-hearted and easygoing robot. Even though he is supposed to be built with the same CPU as Orbot’s, he is somehow dim-witted and somewhat slow on the uptake; he has no concept of sarcasm and even when things are explained specifically to him, it takes a while for him to catch on. While still a competent henchman, Cubot is talkative, not very serious and generally annoying to those around him.
Despite their devotion towards Dr. Eggman, Orbot and Cubot loyalty isn’t necessarily out of personal preference. While both take their job seriously, Orbot and Cubot tend to slack off when possible or even actively avoid doing any work. They also appear to be quite in awe of Metal Sonic, considering the robotic Irregular something of an older brother figure.
Despite being enemies, neither Orbot nor Cubot hold any personal hostility towards Team Neos, only acting when they are actively told to stop them, and are even willing to team up with them when the situation calls for it.

Drabble: A Visit
It was a normal day in the forest,The morning dew still glistening in the sunlight as the Flickies chirped and greeted each other, but then a snap of the twig interrupted the two and flew off. A pair of worn hiking boots appeared out of the wood and revealed a sky blue hedgehog; it was not a youthful sound, but rather an elderly groan. “Ah, these old bones are not what they used to be…” Looking up ahead to see the cottage. With a sigh of relief the mobian approaches the home and passes by the porch to see a rather cute red door and looking over to see the mail overflowing a bit. That made him raise a brow with concern and then look back at the front door, to gather up the courage and knock on the door.
Within a few seconds, the door opens. The two hedgehogs made eye contact with each other. The youthful mobian looks rather confused as to why they came by in such a frail looking hedgehog and wearing a bomber jacket, a sling leather pack, hiking gloves and thick leather hiking boots. The one thing Sky notices is that the elderly hedgehog’s hands were shaking out of nervousness.
Tumblr media
“Uhh….Can I help you sir?”
The old man couldn’t help, but to look up and try to smile. Oh he was about to hug him, but he hesitated in fear of making things awkward.
Tumblr media
“Ah! Sorry Sonny-boy…It…It has been too long…..Skyler.”
Sky is taken aback from this stranger knowing his real name, only his friends know about his true name. Now things are getting curiouser and suspicious. “How do you know my name?” He quickly looked around and well there was no one else in sight, it was only him. “Well…come on in. I don’t want to talk outside.” With that Skyler lets him inside the cozy cottege.
With a nod of thanks as he goes to take off the worn off boots on the mini shoe shelves that are on the side of the door out of respect. The last thing he wants to do is to leave a trail of nature and dirt all over the wooden floors. Skyler closes the door and has the nagging feeling that something is up with this unexpected guest. He hasn’t been feeling too great since the Starfall Islands and it has been a few months to recover and struggling to even sleep or eat.
As Charles eventually sits down on a nearby plush chair and looks around at the living room which has a coffee table, a series of photos of different zones and selfies of Sonic and his friends. The huge soft rug surrounding the sitting area overall was just the cherry on top for this room. In addition to the kitchen right across the room, Sonic did go in there to take out the bottles of green tea from the mini fridge and close it. Walking back into the living room and offering the drink to Charles, the elderly hedgehog thanks Skyler and takes the bottle. Skyler goes to hop on the sofa which is next to him. As the two sip their tea and Sky breaks the ice.
“So…..How did you manage to find this place?....and….You didn’t call me by my alias and know my real name.”
Charles chuckled softly and looked back at Skyler with a mix of emotions, as if there was something across his mind. “Sonny boy…Skyler. I have been looking for you and I need to talk to you about something.” He takes a worn out photo from his pack that he set aside and hands it to Sky.
The young hedgehog raises a brow in suspicion at first and then takes a sharp breath to take the photo to look. His eyes widened and jaw dropped. The photo contains two adult hedgehogs and a younger looking Charles. What hits Skyler the most is that the female mobian is carrying a child.
It was him.
A whirlwind of memories burst through his mind. The words, the voices, the encouragement to survive. Yet even if those moments we’re only for a minute or even mere seconds. Those memories are absolutely precious for the hedgehog. As he shakes off the shock and tries to put his feelings together. Speechless on what to say, yet Charles is a patient mobian and understanding that he dropped such a reveal for this young boy. Skyler slowly looks at the other for a moment and then looks back at the photo to finally notice the baby blue blanket. With that Sky gets up to rush to his room and open the closet that is full of junk. He begins to dig out the mess, but eventually finds the blanket still in one piece, but it might need a bit of care. Running back to the living room as the other was not phased from Skyler’s super speed. He recognized that ability all too well.
Skyler is trying to keep it together and feels his hands shaking as he hands over the blanket to Charles. As the elder’s eyes widened with shock and seeing the rather well not exactly clean blanket, but yet on the corner that was etched in with Skyler’s name is clear as day. The silence is still filling up the room and while the breeze and Flickies are still chipping happily. Charles eventually gives the blanket back to him.
Tumblr media
“....Skyler…..I can’t believe you kept the blanket all this time…I thought…..I thought you would have hated what we have done to you.”
Sky takes a pause to answer why he even made this decision and then looks back at his found relative. Looking at the returned blanket he is holding in thought and looks up to finally reply.  “I….I used to when I was young, but….it was the only identity I have, but I kept calling myself Sonic. It didn’t felt right for me hiding my real name forever so….I-I started to embrace it.” He chuckled lightly at Charles and looked back at the family photo. “Even if I have no idea who my parents are….but….T-Tell me who you are.”
“Well…My name is Charles Luxhart,so please just call me Uncle Chuck, no need to be formal about saying my whole name.”
The familiar family terminology was familiar for Skyler, but that term was used for another one that he cares about. Refocusing from this reunion and now he is pondering with so many questions and so many concerns. Then his communicator made a beeping sound, it was his friends, then it dawned on him that the messages reminded him.
Tumblr media
“Ah Snaps! I forgot! I gotta do something today! A-Ah sorry Cha-U-Uncle Chuck!”
Charles cracked a smile at the familiar emotions that are quite familiar like his brother. And shakes his head. “It’s okay Skyler, I figured I dropped by at a bad time..well I did come here uninvited after all and dropped so much on ya.” He takes out a card and hands it over to him.
Tumblr media
“Just give me a call anytime when you are ready Sonny-boy and I’ll come looking for you. Oh and thank you for the drink.”
As Sky takes the card and looks at the very dainty and neat handwriting with his name and phone number. Almost forgetting about the photo and returning it back to them. Charles takes the photo back with a nod of thanks and well silently  finishes the bottled tea and sets it on the coffee table. Skyler nods and tries to cover up with a smile as he always does. “Yeah. Hey, I'll open the door for you.” As the two reach the front door and Sky turns the knob to open the entrance once more. “So…How did you even travel here? It might have taken a bit of a trip from the train station to here.” There wasn’t really a proper transportation to the dense woods so there was no way that Charles would have even walked miles away to get to this cottage home.
The elderly mobian grinned. It was quite a familiar sight for the younger one. “Heh…I actually used my plane to get here. Don’t worry about me, I’ve explored through denser woods than these. Also your neighbors are quite nice as well.” On cue as some Flickies passed by on the blue skies. That made Sky chuckle and after a few more random small talk, they both said their goodbyes. Charles did not want to start the affectionate gesture yet, it was still rather too soon for that moment. With a beat, the hedgehog walks away as Sonic watches him go into the pathway and deep into the woods.
As his smile fades out and now he has got a lot of mind that he actually met someone who knows him. A family member who painstakingly found his home and just to drop the news about his parents. His mind is going through so many thoughts and questions, then a ping from his watch plays. Which made him jump a bit. Looking at the message and then his concerns turns into a panicked state. He needed to prepare and change into his usual outfit. Today was the day when his friends were going to start their journeys.
Meanwhile....
The three we’re waiting for Sonic which is quite…strange for him. Knuckles jokes that he probably overslept or something. While the other two both disagree even if the throught is amusing. Then with amazing timing and speed, Skyler finally shows up and of course the echidna had to say something first. “Well looks like you’re the one who’s too slo-” He stopped once he saw the glaring green eyes of Amara’s fury. That made the treasure hunter change the subject rather quickly. “A-Anyways! So uhhh I ain’t got any emotional words to say. What about you two?”
Wren and Amara looked at each other and it seems like the two were prepared for something, yet they both know that they don’t want to drag the goodbyes for too long either. The young fox piped up first.
Tumblr media
“Well It’s not a forever goodbye, but…I’ll make sure to call or send some photos when I can! Oh and uhh I am gonna drop off Knuckles to his destination.”
Knuckles silently nods with a smirk across his face and that made Sky grin back in return. Oh how much he is going to miss that echidna’s big brotherly vibes and Tails’ bickering about his commissions and Eggman thwarting the planet again. Amara takes a deep breath and looks at the two and then Skyler.
Tumblr media
“Well…I did finally revise my menu and also I am finally having my own food truck. Ah! It took so long, but I think it is going to fit well for my business. But! All three of you need to be careful and especially you Skyler!”
Sky couldn’t help, but to chuckle nervously and adjust his quills which are still tipped with the strange black corruption.
Tumblr media
“H-Hey! I’ll be fine! I’m more worried about you three!”
They all burst into laughter and the four had a bit of more small talk and what other plans they are going to do. Eventually Wren and Knuckles left with the Tornado as the two hedgehogs watched them fly away. As Skyler continues to watch the boys go into the distant skies, Amara turns to him, who is still focused on their departure. It didn’t take too long for her to finally speak up.
Tumblr media
“Hey Skyler?”
The blue hedgehog turns around and looks back at her with curiosity, yet he notices that she looks rather nervous now. “What’s up?”
Tumblr media
Shuffling her boots and taking a sharp breath. “I…I want to go check if Nikki is okay. She hasn’t responded to my emails lately and also...I...I want to say goodbye to her before I leave.”
Well that made him concerned, he has been recovering from everything and well now he is feeling much better. Yet having no contact from Nikki for a while seems to worry for him more. WIth a determined look and a smile. He offers a hand to her.
Tumblr media
“Well….Let’s go to her. I’ve been meaning to visit her anyways. Man….I can’t wait to tell her about our recent adventures. I...I do miss her.”
Tumblr media
Amara smiles back at him and softly giggles. “Of course you do….I…I miss her too Sky.”
Skyler offers her to carry her as he takes off to find a particular Warp Ring that leads to Nikki’s world. His face beams with excitement and looks down not only at Amara, but He is also wearing the necklace that X gave him. It was one of the precious things that he always cherished and well Sky has been thinking of taking the dark entity to another date. It has been awhile since he treated her since he left to Starfall Islands. Wearing the dark earring on his right ear and the blue studded earring on his left, it really shows that Nikki means so much to him.
To have a found family sister was the best thing ever and he did not regret it.

Shadow thinks about stuff and watches Sonic watch the stars.
@msrosemagic
♥️
The earthy scent of grass fills Shadow's nostrils as he lays against the summer night's ground. If he were to sit up, he could see the ruined city of Westopolis just beyond the field of grass and sparse trees. It's nights like this that his mind eats away at him, much like every night, about the choices he'd made up until this point and their many outcomes. He outstretches a gloved hand against the sky and the stars shine bright against it. At least, without a city here bustling with activity, there's no light pollution hiding the stars. But stars, to Shadow, are reminders. As is the grass, the ruined cities, and the trees. As is the annoying blue hedgehog that sits relaxed beside him.
"Beautiful out here, huh? You can see just about every star," Sonic says casually, like it hadn't been months since they'd last seen each other. Sonic was like that, quick to act as if no time had passed at all, just as kind, just as familiar. Shadow folds his hands over his stomach as he studies the way Sonic's jaw curves. Sonic doesn't turn his gaze from the stars. "Y'know, it's nice you can see them here now. You couldn't before."
"Before the Black Arms attacked?"
"Well, yeah. It's a shame. Good thing we scared 'em off though, right?" Sonic looks to Shadow now, rubbing a gloved finger under his nose and smiling sheepishly.
"Yeah…" Shadow says, looking back to the sky. "How did you find me?" is the simple question, never has he gotten a straight answer before, but he asks anyway. Sonic readjusts in his spot in the grass, the soft of his glove brushing up against the leather of Shadow's. Sonic leaves it there, starlight hitting his eyes when he speaks.
"Just had a feeling I'd meet'cha here. Y'know, you don't have to wander off alone so much."
"Speak for yourself," Shadow bites. Sonic laughs, and Shadow's stomach burns at the sound of it.
"Ya got me there." Sonic raises a pointing finger to the stars. "You can see Orion right now. I always find him by looking for his belt," he explains. Shadow follows his point and observes the cluster of stars. "Y'see, he's got his bow right there," Sonic says, leaning in closer as he tries to trace the edges of the constellation with his finger. The plush of his chest presses against Shadow's face.
"Get off of me," he growls.
"Oh," Sonic's gaze falls to Shadow as he steadies himself over him. "Sorry."
"This doesn't look like getting off of me," Shadow chides, arms crossed.
"Are ya mad?" Sonic asks, smirk tugging his lips and eyes half-lidded. Shadow can feel his breath on his face.
"No."
"Did ya miss me?"
And Shadow hesitates just a second longer before he answers. "No."
"Well, I sure missed you."
"Don't lie."
"Don't worry, 'm not. I mean it. I missed ya." Shadow's eyes trace Sonic's lips as he speaks. "I trust you're fine on your own. Can't help but wonder about ya, though. So where ya been?"
"Cut the small talk."
Sonic laughs, sitting up to raise his hands defensively, "Alright, alright. Ya don't hafta bite." He'd love to bite him, though.
The pulsing glows of fireflies dance around them, as does the grass in the night's gentle breeze. Shadow sits up, and he can see the ruins of Westopolis. The tranquil atmosphere had almost seduced him, almost made him forget, again, for just a moment, the weight of his sin.
"Hey," Sonic starts, pulling Shadow from his thoughts and eyes glowing a deep emerald green in his look to him, Do ya wanna kiss?
Shadow blinks his black eyelids a few times, confused. "What?"
"I said, do you wanna get out of here?"
"And go where?"
"Nowhere. I wanna race. Sound fun?"
Fun, sure. Racing Sonic is fun. He can think of a few things that are fun with Sonic.
"Yeah. Let's race."

Day 1: Movie Night
Shadow took a deep breath as he stood at the door of Team Darks home. There were obvious noises coming from within but thought it better not to eavesdrop on what seemed like a heated discussion. He knocks at the door and all noises inside come to a sudden stop before the echoes of an argument about who would answer the door followed by loud movement approaching.
The door abruptly opens as Rouge was the one who answers. “Good evening Shadow.” She said happily. Shadow could obviously hear Sonic in the background… it sounded like he was struggling.
“Hello Rouge… Is Sonic alright?” He raised an eyebrow.
“Oh he’s fine!” She waves her hand at him. “You two are having a movie night right?”
“Yes,” Shadow said.
“What movie?” She asked,
“We haven’t decided yet… It there something you wanted to say?” Shadow said. This was starting to sound more like an interrogation.
“Nothing at all, you two have fun.” She gives him a wink. “Omega, you can let blue go now.” A blue blur appears next to her looking angrily.
“You can go now.” Sonic snarled as she pats his head.
“Alright, don’t be so uptight Hun. You two have fun, Let’s go Omega.” Rouge grabs her things before walking out the door. Omega followed after her but stops next to Shadow.
“HE DOES NOT LIKE ROMANCE MOVIES. THEY MOVE TOO SLOW.” Omega said.
“Thanks for the heads up.” Shadow said walking inside as they leave closing the door behind them.
“Sorry about that, Rouge likes to be overbearing…” Sonic chuckles awkwardly.
“Did you tell them?”
“What? No, You asked me not to. But I can’t control what they think. A movie night is definitely suspicious.” Sonic joked as they walk into the living room. Shadow nods, he wanted to keep their relationship private for now since it is so new. “So what movie do you want to watch?”
“Well, seeing as it’s October,” Shadow pulls out some movies, “I though something scary would be fun.”
“Great idea! Pick one randomly and I’ll grab the popcorn!” Sonic said excitedly. He goes over to the kitchen while Shadow picked a movie and popped it into the player. Sitting on the plush couch taking in team darks subtle but very nice décor. He assumed was due to Rouge’s impeccable taste.
His thoughts are interrupted by Sonic jumping onto the couch next to him as some pieces of popcorn escape the bowl. “Sorry!” Sonic chuckles as he brushes the pieces out of Shadow’s quills then getting comfortable nuzzling in close.
“Ready?” Shadow asked as Sonic nods before shoving his face full of popcorn and Shadow starts the movie.

Day 2: Stargazing
So My brain ran wild with this prompt. **If you are not caught up to chapter 24 of Tides of Chaos this may contain spoilers but vague ones I believe...**
Sonic basked in the fresh ocean air in the late evening. Most of the crew was asleep and Sonic had asked to chill in the crow’s nest for a bit to look at the stars. To think that not too long ago he believed the crew of the Final Hazard would eat him. Now he walks amongst the crew as if he were one of them. Even becoming friends with Shadow…
He had become so accommodating to him lately. Noticeably so… Ever since Shadow had opened up about Maria he began to see it. His own thoughts were swimming thinking about the vampiric captain. The small gestures, smoother tone to his voice… That dance…
“Omega told me you were up here.” Sonic practically yelps not expecting to see Shadow appear only a few feet from him. He could feel his face becoming hot and was thankful it was dark. “Is everything alright?”
“Y…yeah, you scared me. I just wanted to see the stars for a bit.” Sonic said composing himself. “Seeing them reflected off the ocean when it’s this calm is really something.”
“Stargazing is one of the reasons I enjoy being on the ocean. The major cities are becoming too bright with their constant lanterns. It’s impossible to see the stars.” Shadow said.
Sonic glanced over seeing the soft smile Shadow gave as he was glancing up at the sky, the reflections of starlight twinkle against his ruby eyes.
Oh…
“Glad we’re able to see it like this.” Sonic said looking back up at the sky.
“I agree, you can see the constellation of Light Gaia and Dark Gaia clearly.” Shadow said,
“I don’t think I know that one.” Sonic said.
Shadow leans closer, pointing up into the sky. Tracing with his finger the outline of the two constellations. “There, and there.  They look like they are about to fight. Do you see?” Shadow asked as Sonic felts Shadow’s shoulder brush up against his own.
Oh no…
His heart began to race at the realization of how close they were. It didn’t seem that Shadow minded the contact. Why was he just now putting the pieces together? He’s the fastest thing alive why did it take him this long to figure it out?
He has feelings for Shadow.
“Y… Yeah! I think I do?” Sonic stammered as he tries to keep his eyes on the sky. He had completely missed Shadow’s gestures to the stars but didn’t want to show his thoughts were otherwise occupied.
“You’re a terrible liar.” Shadow huffed. Lightly tilting Sonic’s head up higher before tracing the forms again. A grouping of stars in similar size. One more of a serpent visage and the other more boxy.
“Oh! I see it!” Sonic said sounding proud of himself. “Thanks,” Sonic smiles brightly as Shadow looks away.
“Would you… like company?” Shadow asked.
“Sure! Any other constellations you know about?” Sonic said as Shadow nods.
“One moment.” Shadow disappears in a mist before returning with a blanket he hands to Sonic, “Don’t need you catching a cold.” Sonic smiles taking the blanket and laying down on the ground of the crow’s nest patting next to him for Shadow to join.
Shadow smiles back before laying next to him and starts explaining the stars to him as Sonic listened intently with a smile on his face. Occasionally stealing glances at Shadow.
I hope you enjoyed! I realized we knew when Shadow realized his feelings but never truly Sonic so this is kinda that.

Day 13: Werehog
Shadow a shocking discovery
Shadow had not expected this… Sure, he had seen Grey transform into a Werewolf… but seeing Sonic turn into a Werehog? That was new…
He was unsure to why he had started to act differently, he chalked it up to them being apart for such a long time. And it was only now that the pieces of Sonic’s increased strange behavior came to a boil on the night of the full moon. And now he was face to face with a killing machine that just stared down at him with solid black eyes.
But this form of his was different than Grey’s; there were glowing neon markings around his face that looked familiar, but he couldn’t entirely place them.
Sonic’s snarl snaps Shadow back into the present moment. He hesitates at reaching for his blade. Silver is deadly especially to Werewolves… He could never harm Sonic… Even if it would save his own life.
He freezes as Sonic’s now longer snout sniffs him curiously. He waits to see how this was going to end for him as he’s pushed to the ground.
A cold tongue drags against his cheek as Sonic’s larger form had him pinned to the ground. He blinks a few times as he comes to the realization that it was a slobbery kiss. And was his tail wagging?
“Sonic?” Shadow asked getting a response with another wet kiss as he now sees Sonic’s eyes were no longer black but back to their beautiful emerald green as he looked down at him happily. Sonic nuzzles into Shadow’s chest before flopping down with a sleepy yawn and dozing off… Leaving Shadow to lie there in total bewilderment, unsure as to what he just witnessed…
“What in Chaos is going on?”

Sonadow Scenario #30
"Are those people in danger?"
Sonic followed Shadow's line of sight, perking his ears upon hearing the distant sound of cheering and rattling machinery. The hero chuckled. "No, Shads," he explained, "that's just a roller coaster."
"A what?"
"A roller coaster," Sonic repeated. He then gasped in realization. "Have you never been on one?"
"I can't say I have—"
Sonic burst with excitement, "Oh, oh, oh! We have to go then!" He tugged on the agent's hand, leading the way.
"Hey, wait!" But Shadow's protests were unheard...
A giddy Sonic was an unstoppable force.
~
Thanks to Sonic's VIP pass, they were able to skip long queues, squeezing in a dozen rides throughout the afternoon. From roller coasters to flat rides to dark rides, they tried everything once—even a merry-go-round to appease Shadow's curiosity. Between attractions, the hedgehogs spent the day sharing snacks, pictures, and laughs.
At one point they tried a few carnival games, and Shadow's expert hand-eye coordination skills earned him a prize from the top shelf—an oversized chao plush. Without hesitation, he gifted it to the blonde girl waiting next in line, who squealed in gratitude.
As they waited their turn for the Ferris wheel, Sonic looked at him sidelong with admiration. "That was real nice of you, Shadow."
The agent brushed it off. "Carrying it around would have just been an inconvenience."
But that was only slightly true as he remembered her eyes, blue as the sky.
They sat beside each other in the gondola, reminiscing over their favorite moments of the day. Sonic asked Shadow for his opinion on the roller coaster.
"I'll admit," Shadow confessed with a small smile, "it was... exhilarating."
"Right?" Sonic agreed. "I know it's not as fast as running but"—he sighed in relaxation, closing his eyelids—"sometimes it's nice to just sit back and enjoy the ride, y'know?"
"Enjoy the ride..." Shadow mulled distantly, doing that very thing as the gondola reached its highest point, showing him the breathtaking view of the city bathed in warm glows of rose and tangerine.
This moment wouldn't have been possible had it not been for the hero, so Shadow turned to him. "Sonic?"
Sonic returned the gaze. "Yeah?"
Shadow leaned close, taking his hand. "Thank you... for letting me see this sunset with you."
Their tinted muzzles were an inch apart, which made Sonic feel compelled to close the gap...
But—
Sonic reeled back. "Wait, did you say sunset?"
Shadow blinked out of his trance. "Yes, why?"
Panic surged through the speedster. "I-I have to go," he blurted, hopping over the handrail.
"Sonic, wait!" Shadow cried, watching the hero jump from gondola to gondola to reach the ground before speeding off in a trail of cyan. The lifeform sat back in defeat, confused and alone...
With a tiny crack in his heart.
~
A gut-wrenching scream from Sonic's isolated abode in the forest tore through the heavens. No one heard it but the trees...
And his canine-looking friend, Chip.
With concern written on his face, he watched Sonic's fur grow dark and matted, his fangs and claws grow twice in size, his build grow broad and hunched. His panting was deep and throaty, and with his head raised toward the full moon, he let out a wolf-like howl, the song echoing throughout the night.
Though Chip had seen Sonic's transformation hundreds of times, he couldn't help but feel like his own soul was being ripped from his body. "You almost didn't make it back in time."
The werehog said nothing.
"Are you... ever going to tell him?"
"No." Sonic was adamant, burying his head in his claws with shame. "He can never see this side of me. Never see me for what I truly am..."
He raised his head just enough to see the tears in his reflection:
"A monster."
