Shadow ends up fighting his former friends while Eclipse and his goons run after the escaping G.U.N. guys, and that’s where this issue ends.

Again, the story is rather predictable and short, but the creative visuals really impressed me. Can’t wait to look at the next one!

Shadow has his big ol’ “brainwashed betrayal” moment, which I was honestly expecting the moment he was being mindraped by Eclipse, but I really like this page where he returns to his friend and the G.U.N. soldiers. His friends are hopeful upon seeing Shadow walk back, but then from the darkness its revealed that he’s standing with Eclipse, and then more and more aliens which gets Rouge and Omega outright panicking at the implications.

Ah, here it is. The “This is who I am!” moment. Time to redo the entire campaign again- oh wait

Most of this issue is like, really par for the course in terms of action comics, but I really enjoy these scenes of Shadow being mind-wiped by Eclipse and later Black Death. Not only is it really visually creative and a handy thing Eclipse can do in his spar with Shadow, but it also gives us more info on the Black Arms’ past and Eclipse’s creation. As one-note the evil alien dudes can be, I can appreciate being shown Black Death finding out the events of the game and showing a (Very) slightly sympathetic side to them. They’re still evil bastards, but I like that they were giving more of a motive here.

Also, get a load of the interesting if corny visuals of Shadow trying with all his might to escape the Black Arms brainwashing! I love how Shadow very nearly got away from his fate, but then Black Death personally comes along and blocks his way out with a PNG of Doom’s Eye.

Matt Herms’ colours also fricking kills, man!
