Northern Alabama has been at a standstill since Sunday due to freezing temps, winter storm warnings and wind advisories. Schools and businesses have been closed all week and I am getting a bit stir crazy! A few extra days off work is nice but I’m over it now and beyond over the cold! This photo was inspired by an actual RL photo someone shared on Facebook and I loved her…
The William Carroll House was built by architect R.C. Burkholder. Wealthy Lynchburg tobacconist John W. Carroll had this house built for his son, William.

- I am on my (forced) 2 week class break. Every time I have a break I have so many plans to do so many things! What actually happens is I sit around for half the day in my underwear (either paralysed by executive dysfunction, or just cause who likes pants or going outside anyways, huh??). On one hand, I really need to have my day structured around outdoor obligations (class, work), on the other hand it also becomes evident how much I needed an extended break from noise and human interaction cause one Saturday per week is not enough seclusion. (Today I started to investigate how one goes about joining a Trappist monastery, enticed by the thought of a life consisting largely of baking bread and being very quiet, but I discovered this is a lifetime commitment and you can’t bring your phone, so it’s a no for me.)
- I waited in hot anticipation for weeks for the opening of the new brunch restaurant that was being installed near my residence, only to discover it is Not Good. I mean, it’s tolerable. It’s not actively horrible. But I wouldn’t eat there again cause I can get much more in my sandwich for 10NT less at my usual place. I wanna be lost in the sauce, not lost without it. To offset this disappointment (on a completely different front), in the same few weeks my hair has grown out to the point where it now actually looks like the photo I gave the hairdresser back in August! (I had asked if he was confident in cutting curly foreigner hair, which was the wrong question entirely, confidence and competence are two different creatures.)
- I am planning on doing a Gender Thing next month, however it’s not something I care to discuss with either my classmates or my family (not that we communicate frequently anyways), and only a very limited selection of friends know, so I’ve been perhaps oversharing somewhat with the people I am talking to about it. They give me thoughtful feedback, to the extent that they can, bless them. I am nervous! But I also want to move forward with my life. Gotta break an egg to become an omelette or something like that. 寧可玉碎,不能瓦全!

She was beautiful, but not like those girls in the magazines. She was beautiful, for the way she thought. She was beautiful, for the sparkle in her eyes when she talked about something she loved. She was beautiful, for her ability to make other people smile, even if she was sad. No, she wasn’t beautiful for something as temporary as her looks. She was beautiful, deep down…
SL Calendar Girls - April 2023 #SLCalendargirls #SLCG #SecondLife #VirtualGirls
I am sorry this month’s selection is a little later than planned. I won’t go into too much detail but my father has been unwell and I’ve had two trips away from home to visit him. It put my schedule out of sync a lot, and not just for Calendar girls but I am slowly getting back to normal!
As always, this is a selection of my favourite photos added to the SL Calendar Girls group during the month.…
I admire people who have, like, curated tumblrs because I’m just a hodge podge of fleeting interests and lifelong obsessions and casual observations here.
I saw a Japan Surplus Store near the hotel I’m staying at in Iligan City (Lanao del Norte).. and the I saw a Polaroid E44.
This camera is from the 1970s and it was for sale for PhP 1,200.00. It was too expensive for me. So, I decided to haggle with the owner and told him that no will buy this. There are very few vintage camera collectors like me out there... I was able to convince him to give it to me for PhP 600.00. Haha!
