Arctic Expedition 16
-December, 12th, 2018. I have landed in the Arctic Circle, or at least what’s left of it. The goal of this expedition is to study the effect global warming has had on the Arctic Circle, as well as formulate an accurate prediction. I have set up an outpost in on the north pole complete with all the atmospheric and climographical equipment that I may need. I also have an ice drill set up directly outside.
-December 13th, 2018. The wind is cold; more so than I expected. The recent temperature gauges and reports read that the Arctic Circle was about -40 degrees Celsius. My thermometers are reading -60 degrees. I need to take proper precautions in order to not get frostbite. I have turned on the extra heater in the camp.
-December 14th, 2018. One of my heaters failed. I needed to fix it. The temperature has dropped further; to -61 degrees.
-December 15th, 2018. I have begun investigating the abnormal drop in temperature. The wind here is minimal, and what wind we have here is of an average temperature. The jet streams and other variances seem to be either normal, or not there at all. Further investigation required.
-December 22nd, 2018. Over the past week, the temperature has dropped to -69 degrees. I will keep a counter as to the temperature.
-December 23rd, 2018. -70 degrees. The heaters are over exerting themselves. I am afraid to go outside to repair them. I estimate that I will be able to stay for a few more days.
-December 24th, 2018. -71 degrees. I am not sure how much longer I will last in these conditions. At this point I can only ration food and try to survive. Last night I drug the heaters inside. The temperature seems to be warmer during night time. It feels as if the sun itself is freezing. The heaters have been repaired.
-December 25th, 2018. -72 degrees. I miss my family. I have tried to call them but the signal is down. I have no reception with the sole exception of my equipment. If I was home, we would be enjoying hot chocolate by the fireplace by now, wrapped in warm blankets.
-December 26th, 2018. -73 degrees. If I was home, we would have already been taking down the Christmas decorations.
-December 27th, 2018. -74 degrees. Off in the distance, I could see an animal. Some kind of deer, or elk. This confuses me. How could an animal be alive in -74 degrees? Perhaps I am seeing things.
-December 28th, 2018. -75 degrees. I saw two elk off in the distance. The temperature is consistently dropping, but these animals seem to be appearing more. The isolation must be getting to me.
-December 29th, 2018. -76 degrees. Three elk. They’re closer than they were before. I can’t step outside the tent. My equipment isn’t rated for this. The sensors have frozen over. I have four more degrees before my heaters begin to fail.
-December 30th, 2018. -77 degrees. I have set up a shrine. I’m praying. It’s my only hope at survival. The elk seem to be watching me. I can feel their eyes pierce me from a distance.
-December 31st, 2018. -78 degrees. The elk are closer.
-January 1st, 2019. -79 degrees. The elk are closer. I can see their eyes. They have white eyes. Happy New Years.
-January 2nd, 2019. -80 degrees. I woke up from falling asleep at the shrine. I could hear stamping outside the walls. I looked out of the window. The elk were right there. They had the dismembered top half of humans impaled on their antlers. The carcasses glared at me as the Elk did. The window was the only thing between the elk and I. The heaters are beginning to fail.
-January 2nd, 2019. -81 degrees. Help me.
-January 2nd, 2019. ??? degrees. The equipment has failed. The elk are outside. The carcasses are moaning. I can hear it in my sleep. I can’t sleep.
-???. ??? degrees. How long have they been here? How many days has it been?
-???. I woke up this morning. I passed out the previous day? Night? I don’t know anymore. The tent was gone. They surrounded me. They were gone as soon as I noticed them.
-March 3rd, 2019. Help.
-dafskjvwebtgsnilmao,....sdvob. I like my new body. My new legs feel comfortable. I feel… liberated.

David Rambhajan: How To Leap Past The Competition Using Joint Ventures?
Former US Marine Corps Sergeant turned construction firm owner, David Rambhajan shares his advice on how to leap past the competition using joint ventures.
BACKGROUND
David Rambhajan enlisted at the age of 17 and served the US Marine Corps for eight years.
After that, he then established his own company, Industria Construction Services, in 1993 and is celebrating over 25 years of providing general construction and professional construction management services.
With his experience, Rambhajan is a big supporter of small businesses and veteran-owned firms that he allocates his time as an advisor to fellow entrepreneurs.
He is also serving the  U.S. Small Business Administration, Elite SDVOB Network, and the Warrior Summit Coalition as part of the Board.
EXPERIENCE IN THE FEDERAL MARKETPLACE
In working in the federal arena, Rambhajan had worked with several subcontractors and businesses to do joint ventures together. He is very critical in finding the right partner that has the same goals and values as him.
“I mean the business is great if you could do it and make some money for both of you and deliver some good work, but you have to both have the same values. You have to both be able to work together, you have to build, be able to trust each other. So, it takes time to find the right partner.”
Also, when he finds someone that is not willing to invest the same time and energy as his, he won’t continue working with that person.
“You don’t want to force it. You want to be humble, hardworking, and humble and develop that relationship. And there are ways to do it. And so, you know, you might be knocking on a door that might not be the right opportunity either.”
Another thing that he also experienced is working with various agencies including the Army, the Navy, and the GSA. With this, he learned to understand the differences in the requirements of every agency.
“I know it’s a little scary when you look at these contracts that are 300 pages long for construction, but, you know, you got to learn and understand what their requirements are and you have to meet them because, you know, you don’t want to get an issue with the prevailing wage wage requirement and or reporting requirement.”
With all of these, Rambhajan learned three things that enabled his business to continue growing in the marketplace.
“To me, communication is king. You have to communicate, you’re orchestrating a team. The next thing is workflow. I don’t want to see you send one body out. I need the work to be done. I need the teams, you need to put enough labor to get the work done. And the third thing, they’re all equally important in effect to each other, is cash flow. And so with this cash flow, I’m able to employ that best subcontractors who enjoy getting paid as long as they perform.”
ADVICE FOR SMALL BUSINESSES
Rambhajan advises small businesses to learn to diversify and provide value. There are a handful of programs that small businesses can and government agencies that they can work with but all of this will be wasted if you don’t provide any value to these agencies.
Also, he encourages  business owners to plan and check if they are on track. They should have a strategy along with the system, their process, and their routines. Part of this process is what Rambhajan called three Rs or the resource, risk, and reward.
Primarily, you need to identify all of your resources. This is your time, money, skills, and energy.
In using these resources, there’s always risk involved. So, you should identify these risks and understand how you will deal with it.
Lastly, there’s the reward. However, this reward can only be achieved if you will be able to identify the risk and avoid it.
“Look at your resources and say, ‘How can I use my resources properly to build something so that, you know, I can enjoy what I want for that final honor. What’s the reward? What’s the… is it financial independence and what does that mean? What’s the dollar value?’”
