As I looked, the eyes saw the sinking sun, and the look of hate in them turned to triumph. But, on the instant, came the sweep and flash of Jonathan's great knife. I shrieked as I saw it shear through the throat; whilst at the same moment Mr. Morris's bowie knife plunged into the heart. It was like a miracle; but before our very eyes, and almost in the drawing of a breath, the whole body crumble into dust and passed from our sight. I shall be glad as long as I live that even in that moment of final dissolution, there was in the face a look of peace, such as I never could have imagined might have rested there.
I don't know what's getting to me about this scene this time around, but I can't help imagining a cinematic beat in which Dracula, head cleaved from his shoulders, steel through his heart, looks to Jonathan. Fire-eyed, white-haired, triumphant against his personal nemesis and would-be keeper at last.
For just a moment, Dracula is whoever he was before he was an inhuman monster. A great man? A warlord? A hero or a horror in human flesh depending on the history. But a man again, whatever else. He looks at Jonathan.
Maybe he sees him.
Maybe he sees someone else. Some long ago youth who lived and died and was remade in profane immortality for the sake of supernatural strength, taught by ancient Powers beneath a distant mountain. A youth who would sell his soul to accomplish his goal.
As the sun sets red, Dracula sees that long-ago youth victorious but not yet damned--the man conquering the monster--and, for the first time in centuries, thinks he sees his reflection. The hunter, the warrior, the victor. How strange not to see him in armor. When did you change your sword? Ah, well.
You did it just the same. You did it...
(What was his name before all this? Memory is cracking, turning to powder in his mind. His name is...his name was...)
((No, no, old man. He is not you. You know. You know he is--he's--))
Voiceless, his lips move. Red a final time as his throat's foam bleeds up and out of the stained mouth.
Thank you, my friend.
There is time enough to smile before he crumbles away to sleep.

So uh, I was playing Stardew Valley to destress, and then this happened. Hope everyone likes it at least!
One Piece Stardew Valley AU
Luffy
General:
Washed up on the beach in a barrel and mayor Lewis hasn’t been able to get rid of him since. One of the harder residents to track down because his schedule is entirely random, but he does have some places he goes to more frequently. These places include the Stardrop Saloon, the mines, the beach, and Linus’s tent. He is banned from the museum for dropping an artifact and breaking it. He gets along with most of the residents for being a generally likable and helpful guy. His favorites (besides other straw hats) are Linus, Krobus, Alex, and Abigail. Doesn’t get along with Lewis or Morris because he tends to make fools of them with his antics (and breaks stuff at JojaMart). Inexplicably, he can see and interact with Junimos. He also claims he can talk to them but it’s unclear if he actually can or if he’s just making it up as he goes.
Player Interaction:
Rocks up to your farm the day you show up because he didn’t know you were moving in and likes to hang out and forage there. After initially startling each other, he offers to help you clean up the place if he can have some of the food you grow. Agreeing immediately gets you a couple of hearts and now you’re friends, rejecting it makes him shrug and leave. If you mention needing certain materials, he will occasionally send some in the mail if he finds any, and will also send random things he finds. He very much encourages you to let loose and have fun instead of working all day.
Dating/Marriage:
He isn’t a marriage candidate, but you can ask him to move in like with Krobus. You won’t see much of him because he likes to wander, but he’ll help out around the farm before he peaces out for the day. His room is a mess with a hammock in it.
Zoro
General:
He was the last person to get a ride to Pelican Town before the bus broke, and now he’s stuck there. Everytime he tried to leave, he would just wind up back in Pelican Town, so he eventually gave up and accepted his fate. At least the mines give him ample opportunity for sword practice. Since he spends so much time down there, Marlon lets him live at the Adventurer’s Guild. He can be consistently found at the mines, Adventurer’s Guild, and the Stardrop Saloon, but he’ll also randomly show up in various parts of the map because he got lost. He isn’t very sociable, so the only people he talks to all that much are Marlon, Gil, Shane, and Kent once he shows up.
Player Interaction:
Your first meeting happens the first time you try to enter the mine. He’ll walk out of it and tell you that if you’re looking to do some monster hunting that you should come back tomorrow because he wiped out most of the mine. He becomes something of a rival for you in the mines, and there is a leaderboard of sorts comparing your kills to his. Having some competition really invigorates him, so your rivalry turns to friendship easily.  He sends you monster parts in the mail since he has more than he knows what to do with. Once the bus is fixed, he’ll ask if you could take him to Skull Cavern. He tried to go by himself, but well, he somehow got lost despite Pam pointing it out to him.
Dating/Marriage:
The man has no idea what he’s doing and doesn’t understand why you gave him a bouquet, but he tries to go with it. If he does say something romantic, he becomes visibly embarrassed and you won’t be able to talk to him for the rest of the day. If you try to, you’ll just get a text box saying “...” with a blushing portrait next to it. After marriage, he’ll help out primarily by fixing whatever is broken and gifting you more monster parts. He leaves for the mines a lot. His room is full of workout equipment.
Nami
General:
An extremely elusive woman who makes sea charts. The hardest resident to track down because she’ll be gone for days at a time. Willy lets her crash at his shop on the days when she’s in town. She can be found in the Museum/Library, Pierre’s General Store, Carpenter’s Shop, and Cindersap Forest. Once Ginger Island is unlocked, you can find her there on the days she isn’t in Pelican Town. She isn’t around enough to be close with many of the locals, but has managed to make friends with Maru, Penny, Willy, and Leo. She dislikes Pierre because he won’t let her haggle with him.
Player Interaction:
She doesn’t make an appearance until day 5. She shows up at your farm to introduce herself and mentions that she’d love to buy food off you when she’s in town (you will make less money but this will raise your friendship faster). Every so often, she will give you a rare fish she found at sea, but this is uncommon. When you finally make it to Ginger Island, she’ll already be there and make a lighthearted jab about how ‘it took you long enough’. She’ll help you find golden walnuts if you bring her something she’s requested.
Dating/Marriage:
She’s flattered when you give her the bouquet, but also very surprised. You know that she’s gone a lot and won’t change that, right? You do? Oh, okay… Wanna get dinner at the saloon tonight? Your treat, of course. Despite what she says, she will stay in Pelican Town for more days now, but still does regularly leave for days at a time. She offers to bring you with her to Ginger Island when she goes, but you still have to pay. It’s half the price that Willy offers, but it’s one way so you’ll need a totem to get back. After marriage her room is filled with charts and related supplies. She helps out around the farm occasionally, but not often.
Usopp
General:
An apprentice at Clint’s shop (also lives there) who specializes in upgrading weapons. He started working with him as a teenager, and is ready to move on to other things, but lacks the nerve to make that final leap. When he isn’t working he can be found at the Adventurer’s Guild, Cindersap Forest, and lurking around outside the mines. He’s friends with the wizard, Marlon, Sam, and Leah.
Player Interaction:
When you walk into the blacksmith store for the first time, he’ll be in there and start talking big about how he’s the owner and makes the best weapons the world has ever seen. Then Clint walks in and he promptly leaves from the embarrassment of being caught in a lie. After that he’ll give you a proper run down of how he can improve your weapons for you if you provide the right materials. He can either strengthen it by increasing the attack, or enchant it with magical effects. Simply talking to him boosts friendship like crazy since a lot of people ignore him for being a known liar/exaggerator. Sometimes he’ll send materials in the mail along with a letter saying how it could really improve that sword of yours if you bring it in to him *wink wink nudge nudge*.
Dating/Marriage:
When you give him the bouquet, he takes it, stutters out random syllables, and then runs away. He’ll be on your porch the next morning to properly thank you and accept it now that he’s had a chance to gather his thoughts. He brags to everyone about the fact that he’s dating you. After marriage his room is filled with miscellaneous weapons and materials with some blacksmithing equipment outside. You’ll notice that nothing ever seems to break around the farm because he always fixes it before you can see it.
Sanji
General:
He’s a cook at the Stardrop Saloon, and also works as a personal chef for anyone that requests the service. His main customers are Evelyn and George, as well as Pam and Penny. He doesn’t charge Pam and Penny because they’re broke and he’s a pushover (he’s also trying his best to teach Penny how to cook). He can commonly be found at his clients’ homes, Cindersap Forest, the beach, and the spa. He’s friendly with all of the women there, but is noticeably closer with Emily, Haley, and Penny. Elliott and Sebastian are also friends of his.
Player Interaction:
The second you set foot in the saloon, he will be trying to impress you with one of his signature dishes while pitching his in-home cooking service. Gus scolds him for advertising his business at work, while Emily jokes that he’s flirting with the customers again. He hurries back to the kitchen after this. Like Usopp, your friendship will rise just from talking to him, but will also rise if you give him ingredients. He frequently mails you food he’s made and personal recipes. You can buy his services. It’ll show a cutscene of him cooking in your kitchen, plus you’ll get the recipe of whatever he made. Food made by him gives you buffs.
Dating/Marriage:
The man will straight up cry when you give him the bouquet and promises that you won’t regret choosing him. He acts like you’re already married with how doting and lovey-dovey he is, and he drops hints constantly about proposing. You’ll be getting food from him in the mail every single day while dating, and food directly from him every morning when you are married. Helps around the farm frequently. His room is full of bookshelves containing various cookbooks and romance novels, and also an herb garden.
Chopper
General:
Harvey’s apprentice, and has an interest in herbal remedies. He’s very young and new to it but is an extremely promising student. When he isn’t at the clinic, he can be found in the museum/library, Cindersap Forest, or poking around the Community Center. He can also see and talk to junimos. He’s good friends with Harvey, Maru, and Leah. He wants to be friends with the wizard but is intimidated by him.
Player Interaction:
Entering Cindersap Forest for the first time will reveal him foraging for medicinal herbs. He eagerly introduces himself and lets you know that you can buy herbal medicine from him at the clinic. They’re on the cheap side and can heal or prevent status effects. Buying his medicine boosts friendship, but losing all health and ending up in the clinic five times will cause you to lose a heart with him. He worries a lot, don’t do that to him. Expect to get a variety of herbs, fruits, and vegetables in the mail from him with notes about you staying on top of your health (these notes become passive aggressive if you recently lost a heart with him).
Dating/Marriage:
Not a marriage candidate for obvious reasons, and also isn’t available to move in with you.
Robin
General:
An esteemed archeologist working and living at the museum. She moved to Pelican Town because of the area allegedly being an archeological hot spot. She doesn’t stay in one place for very long (except when she’s reading at the library), so trying to find her can be difficult. She doesn’t move into the town until after the bus has been fixed and the quarry is unlocked. The day after both are completed, she shows up and makes her rounds introducing herself to the locals. She can be found at the mines, the quarry, the desert, and Ginger Island, but will also be seen wandering around the map looking for artifacts in unlikely places. While she is very new to the town, she still makes friends with Gunther, Sandy, Professor Snail, and Penny. She also gets along well with the children.
Player Interaction:
She’ll be on your porch when you leave your house the day she moves to town and introduces herself. After that, she asks for a tour of your farm and then if it would be okay for her to dig there occasionally. Agreeing gives you a couple of hearts to start with. If she finds anything on your property, you’ll get a cut of the profit. Every time you donate to the museum, she sends you a thank you note in the mail the next day. While you won’t be able to collect the things she finds first, she’ll give you rare crafting recipes once in a while in exchange. Good luck predicting what she’ll send you in the mail, it’s very random. You could get some food, a hat, some rocks, or even a bomb. She sends whatever makes her think of you, you’re just not sure you can follow her train of thought.
Dating/Marriage:
Receiving a bouquet leaves her speechless but happy once the shock wears off. She’ll say something about wanting to stay in Pelican Town a little longer anyway, and that she’s looking forward to seeing where this is going. Once you’re married, you get bonus items with your rewards for donations. Her room is filled with her most prized finds, books, and archeological supplies.
Franky
General:
A mechanic that’s aiming to fix up the train station and set the town up with its own personal train. He doesn’t show up until spring of year 3. He builds on an extension to the train station that he lives in. While he works extremely hard on the station and train, he does still find time to visit the town regularly. He can commonly be found at the Stardrop Saloon, the Carpenter’s shop, and the desert.  He gets along well with most people, but he’s closest with Robin, Demetrius, and Mr. Qi. While Lewis appreciates that what he’s doing will help stimulate the town’s economy, he wishes he would put some pants on and be a little less… eccentric.
Player Interaction:
When you walk past the way up to where the train tracks are, you’ll hear a lot of noise. Going up there will reveal Franky hard at work repairing the station. Not long into meeting him, he’ll share his plight that while he wants nothing more than to fix this up, he’s really lacking the funds to do so properly. If you want the station and train finished, you’ll need to provide him with the building materials. This boosts friendship like crazy, and he’ll be singing your praise. Once everything is built, you can talk to Franky at the station to order materials in bulk to be delivered by the train. It’s all in large quantities, but it takes a few days to get there. He’ll mail you cola and random materials.
Dating/Marriage:
YOW! He wasn’t expecting the bouquet at all, but he accepts it nonetheless. The next day he will present you with a bouquet of his own creation that he made from scrap metal and some gemstones he had lying around. Will NOT stop hyping you up to everyone in town. After marriage he will give you a family discount on materials from the train. His room is more or less a tool shed and a place to put things he doesn’t use often anymore.

Mr. Sakurai.
I never thought you would be the first to leave. And what a departure… When I think back on our pleasant conversations and your gentle face, I feel a vague sadness…
For the time being, goodbye. May your soul rest in peace. I would like to sing here a little longer

Stardew Valley Submas
They live and run the train station near the mountain for travelers coming in and out of Pelican town from places like Zuzu City. ( though they haven't gotten many visitors)
Although they spend most of their time at the train station you do see them walk around Pelican town.
Their birthdays are the 18th of autumn .
They may look similar but their likes and dislikes are verrrry different.
One of the twins tell you, with the help with Clint they're the ones that actually built the Minecarts. And they broke down not too long ago they're disappointed to see them in this state but haven't had time to fix them.
After you fix the Minecarts they expressed their thankfulness.
Emmet
Best gifts: Coffee, Battery packs, Oranges, Pizza
Likes: all Universal likes, coffee beans, and iron bars
Dislikes: mayonnaise, Algae soup, green tea, jade
Needs the battery packs for his Joltik he asked you to visit next time and maybe you could meet her.
He likes the snack on the orange slices while he works, and coffee for obvious reasons, lol.
Emmet likes to walk around town on his break he doesn't like staying cooped up inside. He especially spends most of his time at the ocean. Adores pelican town for its quiet, peaceful atmosphere.
Similar to Shane most of his conversations when you first meet him will be very short (tho not mean)
Although disappointed for the lack of train appreciation.
In his two heart event, you find is missing Joltik and he expresses his appreciation.
After hitting four hearts, Ingo expresses his Delight at how close his brother is with you, telling you that Emmet isn't too fond of strangers, even though Emmet does stay cordial and professional, his brother does wish he would interact with the community more.
Emmet does in fact, want to have friends in Pelican town. Ingo was all he had when he grew up; Emmet expresses worry bc he doesn't do well in conversations. Maybe you can bring him out of his shell?
In the end Sebastian expresses that he wants to get to know Emmet more, bc they seem similar, and enjoys Emmet's more competitive nature.
The villagers especially the mothers of the town's opinion of Emmet is that they wish they could get to know him more but I meant usually is so distant.
Emmet tells you that Clint gives him bad vibes, and he doesn't like him, he'll work with him, but that doesn't mean he likes him... even if he does like trains.
Ingo
Best gifts: green tea, Jade, Pancakes, truffle oil, blackberry cobbler
Likes: all Universal likes and sweets, and iron bars
Dislikes: Coffee, Oranges, Pickles, triple shot espresso,
He uses oil to maintain the tracks cook, and for his little litwick friend. Ingo usually is buried in work. He enjoys his job, but sometimes he deserves a break; he usually hangs around the mountain, sometimes going to town.
When you greet him his eyes light up expressing joy that they rarely get visitors.
Emmet expresses worry of how much his brother works. He's very grateful of how helpful his brother is and how important he is to him.
Ingo expresses how important self-care is yet he doesn't do it himself. Harvey as the doctor has seen eye bags under his eyes he expresses that sleep is essential, and he is worried if Ingo gets enough sleep.
Emmet in one of his lines tells you that, Ingo has a sweet tooth put something sweet in front of him and he can't say no. Though he hasn't had the luxury of having it every often.
Emily and Abigail adore Ingo's more out going nature and louder voice yet gentle and polite mannerisms. (Usually drag him into their antics)
Morris says that he wants to hire Ingo because he has heard from the grape vine that Ingo rarely takes breaks and works diligently night an day. If only he had him for an employee lol( obviously an unpopular opinion)
Ingo after a couple of hearts ends up getting extremely ill from overworking practically collapsing on the ground. You put your foot down telling him he has to rest for at least a week and he agrees Emmet promises him to take good care of the station while he rests.
After that he expresses that is incredibly thank you and promises you he'll be more careful going forward telling you that even though he loves his job he understands that he has to take a step back and rest sometimes.
---
Possibly maybe a special event that allows you to marry both of them?
Where you have to be already dating the both of them and then you get a special cutscene where your character is shaking when they both enter a room but then Express their happiness on your acceptance to your confusion.

Hi, I was wondering if you could do one for who (other than Lewis) would run in a Pelican Town Mayoral Election, and who each townsfolk would vote for?
Hey hey 👋
I got a little carried away with the answer because it's a pretty interesting topic. 😅Thanks for the question, btw!
So...
Who would be a candidate for the position of Pelican Town Mayor besides Lewis?
_____________________________
The first candidate:
The first person who definitely has a good chance of winning a mayoral election is... us, i.e. our Farmer OC. Because we've been able to do in a couple of years what Lewis (and probably anyone else) couldn't do in decades. We have raised the image of the town as a whole, making it important both economically and touristically. The residents themselves will immediately notice this because we literally won a Stardew Hero Award by rebuilding the Community Centre.
However... when you think about it, our merits may play right into Lewis' favour because all of these improvements to the town happened during his very reign. Plus the fact that according to some residents' comments, no one really knows that we did it all (with Junimos help, but still). "Did you hear that, Farmer? The bus has been restored. It's a miracle!", "Somehow, the old minecart started working again" - key words is "someone" and "somehow", not our Farmer's name. Like... really, "a miracle"? It is a "miracle" that the town is still a town, not an abandoned unknown settlement.
If everyone knows that the building of Pam and Penny's new house, the rebuilt bus, the minecart and the Community Centre are to our credit, then the opinion of Pelican Town residents will be unanimous. Even Marnie and Robin will vote for Farmer. Not because they dislike Lewis, but because they think he deserves a peaceful retirement. Marnie also secretly hopes that after he retires, the two of them can finally stop hiding their relationship from the public.
The second candidate:
The second candidate who can take Mayor's place is Morris, the manager of the powerful and greedy Joja Co., which is the main antagonist in the game. But! This will only happen with the obligatory participation of our Farmer OC.
The situation will be something similar to Lewis, which I described earlier: Morris will simply appropriate all the laurels and honours for himself. Despite the fact that it was Farmer who was the gold wallet the main sponsor, almost all the improvements and fixes in Pelican Town took place under the huge Joja.co logo. And since the town had become a more important part of the Ferngill Republic, the head of the corporation would definitely want near-absolute power here, so they could order Morris to take part in the election. He won't mind, because it will be a good cash flow, fame and recognition of his important persona by his superiors, and the rest of the routine and mayor duties can be dumped on the other workers.
When it comes to the actual voting, the people of Pelican Town are split into two sides - it's going to be a pretty heated debate. Pierre and his family will definitely be against it, because for them - it means the end of Pierre's little shop business. For the others, it also means not very pleasant changes: for Robin and Demetrius - cutting down trees for resources and disturbing the ecosystem; for Linus and Willy - more Joja trash in local waters; for Penny - constant discounts on beer in JojaMart, which her mother can't resist....
The other side will insist that Joja is the future and progress. Jodi will admit that it's very profitable to shop there, Haley will be happy that town will finally have more supermarkets and other delights like in Zuzu City. Shane and Sam will vote for Morris either because they were forced into it by Morris himself as still the current manager or after promises of a salary increase. The others who took a more or less neutral stance will be tried to be bribed by Joja co. As a last resort, Morris and his superiors will start influencing even the Governor, explaining what an perfect candidate Morris is. The decision is still up to the people of Pelican Town, but there will definitely be pressure.
The other candidates:
PS: In "Stardew Valley Expanded" mod, if Farmer chooses Joja path, Morris will just run for mayor, become mayor (with our help again), and settle into a new home in Stardew Valley. Morris himself in the mod appears as a misunderstood character who does want the best for Pelican Town, it's just that his concept of "best" is different. I decided to describe Morris the way I imagined him when I first played Stardew Valley, without mods (and there's no information about him in the vanilla version, so it's our guesses and headcanons).
About the other candidates... Frankly speaking, no one else comes to mind, because the others either lack the appropriate skills for management, or they are full of their own worries, and do not want to stress themselves with mayor's duties. The same Robin gives herself to the construction of farm buildings and houses, Marnie prefers the company of her cows and goats, without Willy there is no one to supply fish and seafood, etc. Even Pierre, who dreams of a successful rich life as owner of his stores, will not want to take such responsibility. All the bachelors and bachelorettes are busy with their hobbies and interests, other residents do not care about all these elections.
So, that's the answer: Farmer, or Morris!

I shall be glad as long as I live that even in that moment of final dissolution, there was in the face a look of peace, such as I never could have imagined might have rested there.
Mina, sweet til the end, is happy that Dracula dies in peace. Similar to what I had pointed out before about Mina wanting Dracula to be treated with pity (so that she can be treated with pity too), she is glad that he is able to find solace in death. Her ability to empathise, despite everything, is just as valuable and important as her intelligence.
And oh Quincey </3. I was spoiled about his death a few weeks ago and even just that throwaway info felt like someone had dumped a bucket of water on me. If I had read this chapter unspoiled I genuinely think I would have broken down. Just like Mina, his kindness is one of his key traits; even his last words are to point out the disappearance of Mina's scar, which he knows has caused her grief!
"Now God be thanked that all has not been in vain! See! the snow is not more stainless than her forehead! The curse has passed away!"
You can say that he and Mina have swapped places; Mina is now healthy and unblemished, while Quincey is now the one with the injury. He has essentially sacrificed himself for Mina, so no wonder his last words are directed at her, and about her as well! Rest in peace Quincey Morris 🍷, you were a loyal and fearless friend even to the Harkers whom you've only known for a few months!

Hell no we are not letting this OFMD finale distract from that THIS LETTER.
Tumblr media
Had a signature from Taika Waititi. I understand the sensitivity here this issue with Taika being Jewish(and that’s not my place as someone that’s Not Jewish or in those regions to condemn him on that perspective’s behalf) but this letter is directly bastardizing the situation.
Now, when there is a major production from a major figure in this platform that did this, is when we can make the most impact. Remember our values, even when those values involve a show that is strengthening the LGBTQ community.
Because this letter tore down the strength of the movement in support of Gaza. There are going to be so many people that saw this letter and take it completely uncritically, unchallenged.
Standing up for our values means sacrificing our interests, holding accountable the things we enjoy.
And also. I don’t want to see ANYONE. Being fucking antisemitic or racist towards Taika here. That is never appropriate and absolutely inexcusable behavior. You should he ashamed if you think that’s okay even after Taika’s actions.
Tumblr media
[Text of Letter]
October 23, 2023
Dear President Biden, We are heartened by Friday's release of the two American hostages, Judith Ranaan and her daughter Natalie Ranaan and by today's release of two Israelis, Nurit Cooper and
Yocheved Lifshitz, whose husbands remain in captivity. But our relief is tempered by our overwhelming concern that 220 innocent people,
including 30 children, remain captive by terrorists, threatened with torture and death.
They were taken by Hamas in the savage massacre of October 7, where over 1,400
Israelis were slaughtered - women raped, families burned alive, and infants beheaded. Thank you for your unshakable moral conviction, leadership, and support for the Jewish people, who have been terrorized by Hamas since the group's founding over 35 years ago, and for the Palestinians, who have also been terrorized, oppressed, and victimized
by Hamas for the last 17 years that the group has been governing Gaza. We all want the same thing: Freedom for Israelis and Palestinians to live side by side in peace. Freedom from the brutal violence spread by Hamas. And most urgently, in this
moment, freedom for the hostages. We urge everyone to not rest until all hostages are released. No hostage can be left behind. Whether American, Argentinian, Australian, Azerbaijani, Brazilian, British, Canadian, Chilean, Chinese, Danish, Dutch, Eritrean, Filipino, French, German, Indian, Israeli, Italian, Kazakh, Mexican, Panamanian, Paraguayan, Peruvian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, South African, Spanish, Sri Lankan, Thai, Ukrainian,
Uzbekistani or otherwise, we need to bring them home.
Sincerely,

Stack The Deck - Haven
CW: recapture, obsessive Whumper POV, noncon nudity/bathing/touching, emeto warning, drugged Whumpee (not Morris´ fault this time, I swear)
・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・
Chris' knee was killing him. Between one hand supporting the waist of his sleeping foundling and the other busy grabbing onto the handrail, the strength to keep both men upright was an unusual overload for it.
"We can do this, come on!"
It felt like the staircase was stretching out for miles and keeping himself as quiet as possible, he finally managed to haul them both up to the front door. Elliot flopped against the frame with no resistance.
Any onlooker probably inferred that he was just a student after a merry bar-hopping and on his way home, accompanied by a good friend. Morris hoped that to be true soon.
"Hey," he whispered while giving Elliot a few slaps against his cheek, "what did you take?"
Wrenching his heavy eyelids apart, a tiny pinprick of a pupil stared back and caught Chris with the rich chestnut hue he prayed would greet him again.
In a perfect world, he kissed him awake and was welcomed by a warm, tired smile followed by a surprised gasp. They'd laugh about the odds of this, how only a cosmic force was able to reunite them after such a long time, and then he could finally repent: an apology to sooth the bad blood that was left. And Elliot would forgive him. He had simply had to, but a bitter throb struck Morris suddenly:
What if he doesn't?
Cradling the soft face of a clueless man, he took inventory: resting so peaceful against the wall with nothing but a few scrapes on his hands, Chris was sure he just had a few drinks too many. Did the poor thing get stood up?
In that case, there was nothing wrong with bringing home an old acquaintance after a wild night. Who knows who else's interest he peaked with such a lovely face.
Instead of staying to pine in the hallway for hours, Chris finally unlocked the door and dragged his consort in by his feet, letting the slick tile floor take on the lion's share of work. All sprawled out on the kitchen floor like he was just washed ashore reminded Morris of the risk he was indulging in.
"I'll be in real trouble if someone finds you here," he murmured down at Elliot anew, who seemed to only know bliss at the moment.
But oh, it was worth the implications, even though Belanger long desired to discover the final reason to rip him apart. Well, what he didn't know wouldn't hurt him, either.
Between pizza boxes and dirty laundry gracing every corner of his tight living space, Chris suddenly felt embarrassed: "I need to clean up before you come to!"
He wanted to leave a good first, well not first, but newly found impression. He couldn't remind himself of the last occasion he had to wow someone he brought home, not since...
Who was he thinking of again? Not that it mattered anymore.
Chris continued to manhandle them further towards the bathroom. The bloody stains on Elliot's jeans had only grown on the way home, hopefully Chris would find nothing more than a scratch on him.
As he leaned him back against the edge of the bath tub for support, Elliot decided to sag over and bury his face in Chris' chest. One small moan wormed itself out.
A rush of heat overcame him as he let his face sink onto Elliot's head too and gathered him up into his arms. Though not registering a single waft of booze, Chris couldn't ignore the scent of sweet cloves and beeswax that greeted him like a warm embrace. Did Elliot always smell so nice? He didn't remember how it was back then.
How could I be so blind?
Something long closed inside him ripped open: the past scars left behind by guilt, shame and purposelessness across his heart started to tear with a painful itch - now a wound gaping open and dripping wet with desire. An urge to make it all right again.
The sound of choking brought him back to reality shockingly quick. Desperate twitches called for action, and Morris only had seconds to bend Elliot over the tub, before he hurled up his dinner.
More than Elliot's situation itself, due to Chris being used to getting spewed on quite a lot, was the horrid truth of the small white pills gracing the ceramic now, half-dissolved poison that was clearly not supposed to be inside him. Especially not so much of it.
"Are you serious?" Chris yelled appalled, checking his pulse and breathing to make sure it was steady, "What happened to you?"
All he got was a relieved hum before Elliot drifted off again, carefree and groggy. Who did Morris pick up on that bench; because it surely wasn't the man he knew so intimately. Maybe someone did this to him...
One way or another, he wouldn't let him go to bed like this, no way. Letting the water turn pleasantly warm, Chris wasted no time with slipping the jacket and shirt Elliot was wearing off his body, always careful to not let his eyes wander too much.
As if he had any sliver of professionality left; as if he wasn't dying to see him like this.
Taking the shower head to his scalp and washing all residues out left Morris leaning over the tub's edge with newfound determination. Could his run-in have been a reward for regretting his sins? He was now granted a chance with a man he was unable to forget for nearly a year, a silver lining to make amends by getting to the bottom of his blatant little problem here.
Provided he got the right idea about how to manage their reunion, the process was bumpy, but earning eternal gratefulness for taking care of Elliot and getting him off his nasty habit was worth it. The puzzle pieces fell into place.
After cleaning out the leftover suds from his roots, Chris dragged them back together, only a towel between them. Elliot made no effort to come back to wakefulness, and it sure was better than to scare him with this compromising scene.
Finally, he took a corner of Elliot's scrunched up shirt to wipe his mouth clean from excess bile.
--------
"How furious will you be with me if I let you wake up like this tomorrow, mhh?"
Chris had placed Elliot flat on the bed, splayed out on the sheets, so his hair fell around him in a halo; like an angel. My angel. Unable to divert his gaze, this sight anchored his throbbing heart to the world.
First, he needed to get rid of possible infections. Then, he would figure out how else to aid Elliot. Eyeing the drying stains all over his pants, it was obvious what to do about it.
Well, it's necessary. He was itching to go this far.
In a swift motion, he released the bloody knees from the material covering them, not ignoring the warm pressure on his mind this brought with it.
Helping Elliot clean up - that's all he was doing, all he ever tried was to set things straight.
A quick wipe down of antiseptic on the hands and legs served little to contain any excitement. Hunger lingered under his skin.
Chris was on the verge of losing his mind when he finally laid down beside Elliot. His erratic breathing didn't match the peacefully sleeping man, only quickening when he let a finger trace along the curves of Elliot's face: the brows, the delicate arch of the nose and down the cupids bow. Even his cracked lips were soft, like the brush of a single rose petal.
Chris felt their skin melting into each other, while the semidarkness guaranteed that nobody would catch a glimpse of him in this sweaty, avid, desperate state. All he was able to do was savoring the electric joy he didn't feel in such a long time.
"Sorry," his lovedrunk whispers plead while hovering mouth over mouth, forehead to forehead, "'m so sorry!"
Under painful efforts, Chris made himself turn away: "Just look what you're doing to me!"
After draping Elliot's exposed self in one of his old shirts, one he was nearly disappearing in, Chris oh-so graciously pulled the jeans back up too.
"I don't have wool detergent, so it's less of a struggle if you plan on getting more out of your system."
It had been a great idea to hold onto the old sweaters and mementos Elliot's mother had gifted him, Chris thought with an amused expression as he stretched the thick blanket over his guest. Later.
Soon, everything would find its right place.
For now, he was retreating onto the armchair, out of simple respect. Under a watchful eye, Elliot could finally rest.

The faymus Jack Kelly
*sigh* well. unless we think of any more, this is our last one. it’s the end of an era, y’all.
so of course I made jack last.
francis “jack kelly” sullivan was born to a faceless father and mother, and immediately taken to an orphanage. there, he was given the state-ordained name of francis sullivan, completely ignoring his hispanic roots and background. he grew up knowing nothing about himself except for that he felt wrong and clearly, he wasn’t wanted. the system wasn’t great, and it was run by the church, not the state. by the time he was nine, he had given up on any and all gods.
he ran away first at seven, and was caught after two days by snyder, who he learned very quickly to hate. he runs away again, and again.
he’s always caught. part of him wonders if the sky hated him.
he meets charlie morris in the refuge (his personal hell) at twelve, and his world becomes a little brighter. he becomes jack, charlie crutchie (jack still hates that one), and they run away again, this time together, and a young italian boy with curls and a slight accent stumbles upon them hiding in an alley. they move to the top of the lodging house, and jack kelly starts hawking the headline.
he’s scarily good at it, and people notice quickly. the older kids start picking him out of crowds, start remembering his name and clapping him on the back when he earns some extra money. and when their leader, knuckles, ages out, they all look to him. never mind that he’s only fifteen, still a little green and more than a little dumb. but he’s never been good at saying no to people when under pressure, so he starts calling himself the king of manhattan.
the name doesn’t really stick, not as much as cowboy, but the friends he had made do, and soon enough, he’s got newsies beneath him who would follow him to the ends of the earth. two years pass, and everything’s fine. great, even. jack flirts, sells, draws, does everything in between.
and the voice in his mind hisses you will never be enough
when he meets the jacobs brothers, he’s tired, annoyed, and more than a tad hungover. but david jacobs- he’s alive, more alive than jack has ever been. he’s smart, funny, easy on the eyes. he’s everything jack wants to be, everything that should make jack worry about his being of the king of manhattan ending soon. but for once, he’s not worried.
instead, he can’t stop staring at david jacobs’ eyes or mouth, and oh, that’s a problem.
then the strike happens, and david becomes davey, and jack should really be worried about this whole thing, but davey davey davey. he can’t stop drawing him, or seeing him in his dreams. he takes the money, tries running (again)(why does he always run?), but comes back to davey, and oh, yes, this is a very stubborn problem.
they kiss and fall in bed one night after jack’s drunk enough whiskey to make him start whispering things in davey’s ear. everything changes, but nothing changes. for years. and jack? well, jack can be stubborn, too, and he can pretend he’s not DROWNING in self-loathing.
race finally cracks, and yells at him for three hours straight, and then they kiss again, but it’s better this time, real this time, and jack decides he’s going to spend the rest of his life drawing david jacobs. they grow old, as old as a newsie gets, and they grow up.
get jobs, find their way around, away, and back to each other. have a couple kids. lose a couple friends. but in the end, jack kelly is still francis sullivan, and the sky has always known that francis sullivan loves david jacobs in his bones, even if it hates him.
davey leaves jack, leaves francis, but it’s the kind of leave that’s like falling asleep; sweet, peaceful, painless. francis keeps breathing, keeps moving, keeps mourning. his hands always draw those eyes. always.
when he leaves, too, he had never been happier.
(maybe, just maybe, the sky didn’t hate him.)
(for how could the sky hate one so loved?)
