Psalm 91, The Foreshadowing Of A Relationship With Christ (Part 2) (222) - December 2, 2023
Play on other Podcast Apps Many verses in the Bible are conditional. You only receive the benefits of what God has for you if you commit to an action and remain steadfast in that action. Psalm 91 is a popular chapter for many, but it too is conditional. Plagues can come near your tent (Ps 91:10), and we can be accessible by evil (Ps 91:8) if we do not dwell in the secret place of the Most High…

Psalm 91
"1 We live within the shadow of the Almighty, sheltered by the God who is above all gods.
"2 This I declare, that He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; He is my God, and I am trusting Him. 3 For He rescues you from every trap and protects you from the fatal plague. 4 He will shield you with His wings! They will shelter you. His faithful promises are your armor. 5 Now you don’t need to be afraid of the dark anymore, nor fear the dangers of the day; 6 nor dread the plagues of darkness, nor disasters in the morning.
"7 Though a thousand fall at my side, though ten thousand are dying around me, the evil will not touch me. 8 I will see how the wicked are punished, but I will not share it. 9 For YHWH is my refuge! I choose the God above all gods to shelter me! 10 How then can evil overtake me or any plague come near? 11 For He orders His angels to protect you wherever you go. 12 They will steady you with their hands to keep you from stumbling against the rocks on the trail. 13 You can safely meet a lion or step on poisonous snakes, yes, even trample them beneath your feet!
"14 For YHWH says, “Because he loves me, I will rescue him; I will make him great because he trusts in my name. 15 When he calls on me, I will answer; I will be with him in trouble and rescue him and honor him. 16 I will satisfy him with a full life and give him my salvation.”"

“I know a young man who lives in the city of Monrovia in Liberia, West Africa. A few years ago, he was involved in a terrible accident. He fell off a truck going at high speed down a crowded road. When he hit the ground, he was struck in the head by another vehicle, and his scalp was peeled back by the force of the blow.
The emergency team at the hospital was convinced he would die in a matter of minutes. Nevertheless, they sewed his scalp back, cleaned him up as best they could, and placed him in a bed in a crowded room.
In the middle of the night, the young man regained consciousness. His relatives were sitting near his bed asleep. And in the corner stood two men in white. They glowed with a shining white brightness. They came over to his bed, and without waking his family, told him they were angels who had been given charge over him to guard him and to minister to his needs. They then left, but not before assuring him they would always be near–that he could count on their help.
To the astonishment of the hospital staff, the young man made a complete recovery and regained his full strength. Today he suffers no effects from the accident, and of course his faith in God has been greatly strengthened.
Before you conclude this young man was hallucinating, look up the word angel in a Bible concordance and do a short study on these beings. You might start with Hebrews 1:14: “Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?” (Hebrews 1:14)
By the way, have you considered that angels are watching over you right now?”
~ Leroy Eimes
See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared.” – Exodus 23:20
For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. Psalm 91:11
The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them. Psalm 34:7
Bless the Lord, O you his angels, you mighty ones who do his word, obeying the voice of his word! Psalm 103:20
Take heed that you do not despise one of My little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels always see the face of my Father who is in heaven. Matthew 18:10

A Righteous King
1 For, behold, a righteous king shall reign, and princes shall govern with judgement.
2 And a man shall hide his words, and be hidden, as from rushing water, and shall appear in Sion as a rushing river, glorious in a thirsty land.
3 And they shall no more trust in men, but they shall incline their ears to hear.
4 And the heart of the weak ones shall attend to hear, and the stammering tongues shall soon learn to speak peace.
5 And they shall no more at all tell a fool to rule, and thy servants shall no more at all say, Be silent.
6 For the fool shall speak foolish words, and his heart shall meditate vanities, and to perform lawless deeds and to speak error against the Lord, to scatter hungry souls, and he will cause the thirsty souls to be empty.
7 For the counsel of the wicked will devise iniquity, to destroy the poor with unjust words, and ruin the cause of the poor in judgement.
8 But the godly have devised wise measures, and this counsel shall stand.
The Women of Jerusalem
9 Rise up, ye rich women, and hear my voice; ye confident daughters, hearken to my words.
10 Remember for a full year in pain, yet with hope: the vintage has been cut off; it has ceased, it shall by no means come again.
11 Be amazed, be pained, ye confident ones: strip you, bare yourselves, gird your loins;
12 and beat your breasts, because of the pleasant field, and the fruit of the vine.
13 As for the land of my people, the thorn and grass shall come upon it, and joy shall be removed from every house.
14 As for the rich city, the houses are deserted; they shall abandon the wealth of the city, and the pleasant houses: and the villages shall be caves for ever, the joy of wild asses, shepherds' pastures;
15 until the Spirit shall come upon you from on high, and Chermel shall be desert, and Chermel shall be counted for a forest.
16 Then judgement shall abide in the wilderness, and righteousness shall dwell in Carmel.
17 And the works of righteousness shall be peace; and righteousness shall ensure rest, and the righteous shall be confident for ever.
18 And his people shall inhabit a city of peace, and dwell in it in confidence, and they shall rest with wealth.
19 And if the hail should come down, it shall not come upon you; and they that dwell in the forests shall be in confidence, as those in the plain country.
20 Blessed are they that sow by every water, where the ox and ass tread. — Isaiah 32 | Brenton Septuagint Translation (BST) The English translation of The Septuagint by Sir Lancelot Charles Lee Brenton (1851) Cross References: 1 Samuel 25:25; 2 Samuel 14:14; Psalm 12:8; Psalm 72:1-2; Psalm 91:1; Psalm 104:11; Psalm 107:35; Psalm 119:95; Psalm 123:4; Psalm 141:4; Proverbs 1:23; Proverbs 11:25; Ecclesiastes 11:1; Isaiah 2:4; Isaiah 3:16; Isaiah 4:6; Isaiah 5:5-6; Isaiah 5:10; Isaiah 5:23; Isaiah 6:11; Isaiah 7:23; Isaiah 10:18-19; Isaiah 11:10; Isaiah 12:2; Isaiah 22:2; Isaiah 23:7; Isaiah 24:10; Isaiah 28:6; Isaiah 29:18; Isaiah 29:24; Isaiah 30:23-24; Isaiah 33:5; Isaiah 33:14; Isaiah 35:4-5; Nahum 2:7; Matthew 12:34; Romans 14:17; Hebrews 12:11; James 3:18

to any of us who are tired of our jewish "friends" turning against us:
I offer you Taanit 11a:5-10.
Likewise, the Sages taught in a baraita: When the Jewish people is immersed in distress, and one of them separates himself from the community and does not share their suffering, the two ministering angels who accompany a person come and place their hands on his head, as though he was an offering, and say: This man, so-and-so, who has separated himself from the community, let him not see the consolation of the community. A similar idea is taught in another baraita: When the community is immersed in suffering, a person may not say: I will go to my home and I will eat and drink, and peace be upon you, my soul. And if he does so, the verse says about him: “And behold joy and gladness, slaying oxen and killing sheep, eating flesh and drinking wine; let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die” (Isaiah 22:13). And the prophecy continues with what is written afterward, in the following verse: “And the Lord of hosts revealed Himself in my ears: Surely this iniquity shall not be expiated by you until you die” (Isaiah 22:14). The baraita comments: Up to this point is the attribute of middling people, who merely exclude themselves from the suffering of the community. However, with regard to the attribute of wicked people, what is written about those who hope for more of these days? “Come, I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and tomorrow shall be as this day, and much more abundant” (Isaiah 56:12). And what is written afterward? “The righteous perishes, and no man lays it to heart, and godly men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come” (Isaiah 57:1). This verse teaches that righteous people suffer early death to prevent them from witnessing the harm that will befall these evil people. The baraita continues: Rather, a person should be distressed together with the community. As we found with Moses our teacher that he was distressed together with the community, as it is stated during the war with Amalek: “But Moses’ hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat upon it” (Exodus 17:12). But didn’t Moses have one pillow or one cushion to sit upon; why was he forced to sit on a rock? Rather, Moses said as follows: Since the Jewish people are immersed in suffering, I too will be with them in suffering, as much as I am able, although I am not participating in the fighting. The baraita adds: And anyone who is distressed together with the community will merit seeing the consolation of the community. The baraita further states: And lest a person say, I have acted in secret; who will testify against me on the Day of Judgment? The tanna explains that the stones of a person’s house and the beams of a person’s house will testify against him, as it is stated: “For a stone shall cry out from the wall, and a beam out of the timber shall answer it” (Habakkuk 2:11). In the school of Rabbi Sheila they say: The two ministering angels who accompany a person will testify against him, as it is stated: “For He will give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways” (Psalms 91:11). Rabbi Ḥidka said: A person’s soul will testify against him, as it is stated: “Keep the doors of your mouth from her who lies in your bosom” (Micah 7:5). And some say: A man’s limbs will testify against him, as it is stated: “You are My witnesses, says the Lord” (Isaiah 43:10).

Psalms 91 king James Version
1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
6 Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
8 Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
9 Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

SAGE & PALO SANTO & How To Use It Correctly In Your Practice.
Tumblr media
Before you add either Palo Santo or Sage into your spiritual pratice you should understanding the true purpose of each one.
Both sage and palo santo are similar in some ways, they both are use to cleanse the energy in you home or space and to bring about a more positive and peaceful environment.
Sage: Comes from the leaves of a sage plant and give a plant-like smell when it is burned. Sage is a good way to clean you and your space of everything. "The downside to this is, despite clearing bad energies and spirits it also removes the positive energy you want to keep".
Now you can bring that positivity back through music, dancing, meditation etc.
Palo Santo: Is taking from the Bursera Graveolens tree and the name means “Holy Wood”. "It's also helps bring back the positivity into your space where as sage removes the negativity".
"Think of it like this "Sage Clears out the bad and Palo Santo BRINGS back the good".
HOW TO BURN: Before you start burning I would suggest start with opening all doors, windows and drawers in your space to release all negative energy from the home, This step is important because you can trap the negativity in the home.
Intentions For The Ceremony: Do not skip this! (See my post on intentions). Now sometimes intentions aren't enough when doing a cleanseing or working. So I want you to get some rest, meditate or pray, something to get you in a clear head space where you won't think of anything else but that working or in this case the cleansing.
For Sage- If your bundle has any ribbon on it remove it but leave the string on that holds the sage together.
Some Indigenous people, practices or religions that do smudging ceremonies do not believe in using lighters they believe it kills the effect. I suggest using a match.
After you let it burn for about 10- 20 seconds and then carefully blow it out. (Don't need the embers getting on anything and start a fire) Note- If you have a small space burn little in a burning dish, if you have a large house burn more or have heavy energies burn a good bit...
While the smoke is still going, you walk around the space from corner to corner letting the smoke hit all walls and corners, drawers everything in that space.
Say a prayer like Psalms 91. To clean and protect your space. Once your space you can shut everything you are left open. Now you have a refreshed and new safe space.
When you are done, put it out.
For Palo Santo- Light your Palo Santo for 20-30 seconds and then blow out. Let the smoke circulate for 1-2 minutes to clear your space of negative energy. When your done put it out.
Last bit of advance you can use both herbs if you like.
When I need to rid a clients home or person of negative energy I use Frankincense and Myrrh maybe with some sage and a with prayer. Because it helps with manifesting the Holy Spirit when use with prayer". Then I use palo to replenish all the good positive vibes and energies.

[Shaddai’s] appearances in Ezekiel (1:24 and 10:5) are in the context of likening the sound of angel’s wings to Her voice. In the Psalms, She alternately scatters the enemy (68:15) and provides shelter for the righteous (91:1).

Worldbuilding and theories of Engage
Personal skills.
In Lythos the personal skills of each character relates to their official duty.
Lumera and Alear
Divinely Inspiring - Adjacent Allies deal +3 damage and take 1 less damage.
I imagine that Alear inherited the personal skill when Lumera poured her lifesource them.
The skill relates to The Divine Dragon's ability to inspire people to want to fight by their side. The 'less damage' part is a reference to their role as protector and bringer of peace.
The image of the skill looks like two wings cupping two people.
The wings of God are a place of refuge. “Yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast” (Psalm 57:1). “He shall cover thee with His feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust” (Psalm 91:4).
The wings are the Divine Dragon offering refuge and love to the People of Elyso.
Vander
Alabaster duty - If unit is adjacent to the Divine Dragon, grants Crit+5 during combat to both of them.
Firstly the personal skill references Vander's role as a steward by only granting power when he is near The Divine Dragon. The 'Crit+5' references how The Divine Dragon inspires Vander and how Vander helps The Divine Dragon focus on important tasks.
Alabaster  is a smooth white stone used for statues and ornamentation. The buildings of Lythos are made of white stone from the surrounding cliffs and mountains. This skill references his connection to the island.
Alabaster is an important symbol in the bible. It is a symbol of the relationship between Mary of Bethany and Jesus. Similarly it served as a symbol of the relationship between Vander and the two Divine Dragons. Mary of Bethany gave her everything to Jesus and anointed him with expensive perfume in an alabaster box. Mary built up a relationship with Jesus by sitting at his feet and listening to his teachings. When her brother Lazarus died, it was Jesus who offered her comfort. The meaning of the alabaster box is that it represents Vander's and Mary's lives. They gave up everything and gave their hearts, devotion and trust to their Saviour because nothing can compare to them.
The personal skill symbol of Vander, Framme and Clanne except the colour is different.
Tibetan Buddhists believe that during lunar and solar eclipses, the effects of one's good or bad deeds are multiplied severalfold. The good deeds of Vander, Framme and Clanne are rewarded with benefits in battle.
Clanne
Verdant faith - If unit is adjacent to the Divine Dragon, grants Hit+10 during combat to both of them.
Just like Vander's personal skill, the effects of Clanne's 'verdant faith' are only triggered by being near the Divine Dragon. once again it is a reference to his role as a steward.
Verdant means green. In the bible green is used to symbolise how a righteous man will devote himself to God and grow and flourish under His divine light.  If Clanne devotes himself fully then he will grow and flourish.
'The righteous man will flourish like the palm tree, He will grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Planted in the house of the Lord, They will flourish in the courts of our God. They will still yield fruit in old age; They shall be full of sap and very green,' (Psalm 92:12-15)
Framme
Crimson/ Scarlet cheer - If unit is adjacent to the Divine Dragon, grants Avo+10 during combat to both of them.
In Japanese the personal skill is called 'scarlet cheer'.
The colour scarlet symbolises the blood of Christ and Christian martyrs. When Isaiah says that the Lord can change our sins from scarlet or crimson to snow or wool, he is saying that the Lord can do something that is impossible for us to do on our own. A cloth dyed red stays red. But regardless of the stain of our sins, the Atonement of Jesus Christ can make us pure again if we repent. If Framme devotes herself to the Divine Dragon and repents her sins then she will be able to achieve anything.

Update #10 - 2 weeks in the ICU
We’re marking our 2nd week in the ICU. Nothing much has changed since my last update; the intubation has already been removed and Mom’s breathing has been fairing well and stable, however her Blood Pressure has not really normalized yet. It still drops to a critical level and that’s what keeps us here in the ICU. As soon her BP gets better then we can be moved to a private room.
Praying Unceasingly
It’s peaceful and quiet here in our room. What very much helps to be so is our prayers throughout the day. We usually start the day with our morning prayer time with worship and morning meditation around 8AM. At 11 AM and 5PM, when my uncle (priest) visits, we pray the Liturgy of the hours. And finally, we do our night prayers, which consists of the “Stay with Me” Prayer by Padre Pio, Prayer to St Michael, Intercessions, Psalm 4, Psalm 91 and Song of Simeon. I know that so many people are also prayer for us, so thank you so so much for storming the heavens!
Other “prayers” are in the form of asking God for mercy. When the day is long and tiring, when Mom is in so much pain, when we see the partial bill, when after weeks of medication some of her lab results just doesn’t seem to normalize yet, when all we could muster is a “Lord, have mercy” I believe that is prayer too. Going about the daily chores and necessities, that too is worship.

Chemotherapy Plans
The Hematologist is already drafting on her chemotherapy plan. She earlier mentioned that the treatment will be aggressive. However, she won’t be able to perform it until her infection (Pneumonia) completely subsides or her BP normalizes. The meds for chemo cannot be purchased here in Iligan. I had to order it from Manila, so upon the doctor’s order, I have already purchased a month-long worth of chemo meds (injectables and oral). The doctor also mentioned that meds could also be purchased at a cheaper rate in India. Lucky us, some friends are traveling from India to the Philippines for a conference this month. And so I was able to purchase ahead of time, 4-months worth of medicines at 60% cheaper price. I’m acting in faith to believe Mom will live long enough to undergo these treatments (and by God’s grace get better!). As per chemo meds, we’re covered up until Mid-March. But she also has a ton of other meds on the side, of which I shall think about later on.
ICU Stories
In the ICU, there are so many heartbreaking patient’s stories. Just today, 2 patients have passed away, may the Lord grant them eternal rest. My Mom’s room, however, is situated in a separated area with walls, so we’re a bit isolated from the other patients. So Mom is asleep and unbothered most of the time.
But there are also so many stories hope in these walls. One story which stood out to me is this 10 yr old girl who met an accident and is now in coma for more than 2 weeks. Yet whenever I could take a glimpse at the hope of her family, I am so encouraged. They aren’t giving up on her even if she had 1% chance to live, though she had to be transferred to a public hospital that could lessen the cost for her family to keep her alive. But I could imagine, if only that girl would have moved only a finger, they would have rejoiced so much! Yet even now, that she’s still asleep, with no significant chances to be awake, her family still keeps the faith and still hopes and against hope.
How much more faith and hope do we have for my Mom, who has now been extubated, now she can talk (but very minimally still), eat a bit of soft foods, and drink small amounts of liquid? She is able to communicate, pray and be aware of her surroundings! All the more, our hope is in the Lord who created heaven and earth, and in whose hands our lives are held. Let His will be done.

After the Battle
1 The king rejoices in your strength, LORD! How greatly he rejoices in your yeshuah! 2 You have given him his heart's desire, And have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah. 3 For you meet him with the blessings of goodness; You set a crown of fine gold on his head. 4 He asked life of you, you gave it to him, Even length of days forever and ever. 5 His glory is great in your salvation. You lay honor and majesty on him. 6 For you make him most blessed forever. You make him glad with joy in your presence. 7 For the king trusts in the LORD. Through the lovingkindness of HaElyon, he shall not be moved. 8 Your hand will find out all of your enemies. Your right hand will find out those who hate you. 9 You will make them as a fiery furnace in the time of your anger. The LORD will swallow them up in his wrath. The fire shall devour them. 10 You will destroy their descendants from the eretz, Their posterity from among the children of men. 11 For they intended evil against you. They plotted evil against you which cannot succeed. 12 For you will make them turn their back, When you aim drawn bows at their face. 13 Be exalted, LORD, in your strength, So we will sing and praise your power. — Psalm 21 | Hebrew Names Version (HNV) The Hebrew Names Version Bible is in the public domain Cross References: Exodus 23:27; 1 Samuel 2:10; 2 Samuel 12:30; 1 Chronicles 17:27; Job 20:26; Psalm 2:1; Psalm 2:5; Psalm 2:8; Psalm 7:12-13; Psalm 8:5; Psalm 9:14; Psalm 10:2; Psalm 16:11; Psalm 20:4; Psalm 37:4; Psalm 37:28; Psalm 45:4; Psalm 50:3; Psalm 59:16; Psalm 61:6; Psalm 81:1; Psalm 91:16; Psalm 109:13; Psalm 112:6; Psalm 125:1; Revelation 14:14

10th July >> Mass Readings (Except USA)
Monday, Fourteenth Week in Ordinary Time
(Liturgical Colour: Green: A (1))
First Reading Genesis 28:10-22 Jacob's dream of the ladder at Bethel.
Jacob left Beersheba and set out for Haran. When he had reached a certain place he passed the night there, since the sun had set. Taking one of the stones to be found at that place, he made it his pillow and lay down where he was. He had a dream: a ladder was there, standing on the ground with its top reaching to heaven; and there were angels of God going up it and coming down. And the Lord was there, standing over him, saying, ‘I am the Lord, the God of Abraham your father, and the God of Isaac. I will give to you and your descendants the land on which you are lying. Your descendants shall be like the specks of dust on the ground; you shall spread to the west and the east, to the north and the south, and all the tribes of the earth shall bless themselves by you and your descendants.
‘Be sure that I am with you; I will keep you safe wherever you go, and bring you back to this land, for I will not desert you before I have done all that I have promised you.’
Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, ‘Truly, the Lord is in this place and I never knew it!’ He was afraid and said, ‘How awe-inspiring this place is! This is nothing less than a house of God; this is the gate of heaven!’ Rising early in the morning, Jacob took the stone he had used for his pillow, and set it up as a monument, pouring oil over the top of it. He named the place Bethel, but before that the town was called Luz.
Jacob made this vow, ‘If God goes with me and keeps me safe on this journey I am making, if he gives me bread to eat and clothes to wear, and if I return home safely to my father, then the Lord shall be my God. This stone I have set up as a monument shall be a house of God.’

R/ Thanks be to God.
Responsorial Psalm Psalm 90(91):1-4,14-15
R/ My God, in you I trust.
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High and abides in the shade of the Almighty says to the Lord: ‘My refuge, my stronghold, my God in whom I trust!’
R/ My God, in you I trust.
It is he who will free you from the snare of the fowler who seeks to destroy you; he will conceal you with his pinions and under his wings you will find refuge.
R/ My God, in you I trust.
Since he clings to me in love, I will free him; protect him for he knows my name. When he calls I shall answer: ‘I am with you,’ I will save him in distress.
R/ My God, in you I trust.
Gospel Acclamation cf. John 6:63,68

Gospel Matthew 9:18-26 'Your faith has restored you to health'.
While Jesus was speaking, up came one of the officials, who bowed low in front of him and said, ‘My daughter has just died, but come and lay your hand on her and her life will be saved.’ Jesus rose and, with his disciples, followed him. Then from behind him came a woman, who had suffered from a haemorrhage for twelve years, and she touched the fringe of his cloak, for she said to herself, ‘If I can only touch his cloak I shall be well again.’ Jesus turned round and saw her; and he said to her, ‘Courage, my daughter, your faith has restored you to health.’ And from that moment the woman was well again.
When Jesus reached the official’s house and saw the flute-players, with the crowd making a commotion he said, ‘Get out of here; the little girl is not dead, she is asleep.’ And they laughed at him. But when the people had been turned out he went inside and took the little girl by the hand; and she stood up. And the news spread all round the countryside.
