You wouldn't admit this to anyone, let alone your bestfriends Josie and Lizzie, but you were headmistress Forbes favorite student, for some reasons over others.

Title: The Way I Loved You

Summary: Stefan Salvatore has been dancing around his feelings for you, all that comes to a halt when he finds out you have a date with Matt Donovan.

Stefan and you always had a complicated relationship. You were friends but there were always some unspoken feelings between you two. You always thought he would make the first move but he never did. You had got it in your head that maybe Stefan just wasn't into you like you were him. So you decided to move on, lucky for you Matt was interested. He had asked you out on a date tonight, The two of you were gonna meet up at the grill. So here you were with your best friend Caroline at your house trying to pick out an outfit for your first date with Matt.

"What about this dress Care?" You asked her as you held up a blue one-shoulder runched-up dress.

"It's ugly, how about this one? This one is so cute! Plus it makes your boobs look great." Caroline said handing you a black dress that showed a lot of cleavage. She wasn't wrong the dress did make your boobs look good.

"Yeah, only because you were so upset about Stefan. Matt and you would make a great couple. He's nice, he's hot and I dated him so I know he's a good boyfriend."

You laughed at that. Caroline and matt went out for a short amount of time before she got with Tyler. Caroline and you had been friends since the fourth grade. You were always shy and it was hard to make friends but Caroline kinda annoyed you into a friendship. You were forever thankful for that.

"Okay, you are right. Matt's a good guy. To answer your question though, no I don't need a ride. But thank you for offering."

"What are friends for! Okay, my work here is done. I'm gonna go. I'm supposed to be meeting Elena to talk to the creepy professor Shane, who Bonnie is so entangled with."

"Okay, good luck! I'll text you the details about the date after carebear."

"You better!" She told you over her shoulder as she left.

A couple of minutes passed and you were gathering your things to put in your purse.

"Alright, Phone... Check. Wallet... checks. Keys.... Keys." You looked around the room before spotting them under the bed. You quickly grab them and put them in your purse. "Keys check."

You were interrupted by a knock on the door. Figuring it was just Caroline, you grabbed your purse before going over to the door and opening it.

"Did you forget something care?" You asked as you opened the door. The shock was written all over your face as you saw Stefan there with a bouquet of Roses in his hands.

"What.. what are you doing here? You aren't supposed to be here."

"I know, I just wanted to talk. These are for you" he told you holding out the flowers to you. You grabbed them.

"Come in. I have to get a vase for these."

He followed you inside as you started to search for a vase for the flowers.

"You look beautiful by the way."

You found a vase running it under the sink tab filling it with water and setting the flowers in it. You moved so your back was leaning against the sink.

"Why are you here Stefan? I have to leave soon. I have a date to get to."

"That's actually why I'm here." He told you moving closer so that he was now standing in front of you. You two were so close to each other. Even if he wasn't a vampire, he would still be able to hear your heart beating fast.

"Don't go on that date."

"Why?"

"You know why."

"Say it."

"Because Y/N, I think I'm in love with you and I'm terrified."

"You can't do this. Not now. I waited months for you to confess your feelings and right when I try to move on.... You tell me you love me? Stefan you just can't do that."

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to upset you. I just thought I'll tell you before it's too late. Is it?" Stefan asked you. You knew it wasn't too late. All you wanted was for Stefan Salvatore to admit he loved you and here he was standing in front of in all his glory doing just that.

"You were terrified? Why?" You finally gather corsage to ask him. Your hands were starting to sweat a little.

"You're human Y/N. I didn't want to get you involved with all of this but I can no longer fight my feelings for you. I love you. But I understand if you want a normal human life. Matt would be good for you."

You made a decision. Yeah, maybe getting involved with a vampire as a human was dangerous but Bella swan did it and she turned out fine for the most part. You knew you loved Stefan and for you that was enough.

"I don't want Matt, Stefan. I want you! I don't need a normal human life to be satisfied. I just need you. I love you. If dealing with all this supernatural craziness means I get to be with you, that I get to love you, and be loved by you then I would gladly deal with it. Besides Normal is relative." You told him.

"I love you Y/N. Let me show you just how much."

He put his hands on both sides of you trapping you in his vicinity before leaning down to kiss you. Your hands wrapped around his neck as you deepened the kiss. You pulled back grabbing his hands and slowly moving towards the inside of your dress.

"y-you're not.... w-wearing anything under that are you?" Stefan asked you slightly pulling back.

"Nope, you want to take this upstairs?" The only answer you got in return was him picking you up and carrying you to the bedroom.

He set you down on the bed before ripping the dress off of you.

"Stefan! I loved that dress." You wined as he looked at you sheepishly.

"I'll buy you another just like it." He promised you as he started kissing your neck and grabbed one of your boobs flicking his finger with it. He started slowly kissing down your body as he stopped at your inner thigh. Sucking on it, leaving a hickey.

"This is all for you so just relax and let me take care of you." Stefan told you right before he buried his face in between your thighs. His tongue moved in a quick fashion. Swiping up and down. Your hands gripped the sheets as he continue your movements.

"I'm not done with you yet. You can call matt later."

WIP Wednesday #12 - DW Crossover

Hi guys! Something different!

"So here's the thing, Bonnie wants me to stop traveling…with you."

The Doctor's brow furrowed and his mouth turned down.

“The aftermath of Downing Street made CNN, because of course it did, Bonnie’s Grams saw it, and showed it to Bonnie. We were noticeably in frame. Bonnie is freaking out, I just spent like 30 minutes convincing her not to tell my mom that I’m not with my sperm donor in Atlanta.”

She shuddered at the thought. Caroline hadn’t spoken to Bill Forbes in years, not since he broke his promise of just because your mom and I are separating doesn’t mean I don’t love you for the second time. In the first six months after he left, Bill hadn’t called once. After that Caroline decided that she wouldn’t get her hopes up again.

She met the Doctor a week later, started traveling, and had never looked back.

“So I can just tell her that we’ll try to be more careful! We’ll go on safer trips, and Bonnie will get less worried and then we can go back to traveling the way we usually do!”

The Doctor looked skeptical, but agreed thankfully.

Things would be great!

Things were not going great. There were only so many “safe trips” one could go on, and museums of the future where the Doctor kept score, before you got bored. And it totally wasn’t fair to Rose! Her first two trips were so amazingly chaotic and then six weeks of… nothing. Honestly, Caroline admired the Doctor’s restraint, he was only mildly fidgety! He was tinkering more than ever though.

Caroline used this downtime to catch up with her studies. She was searching through databases on the history of Mystic Falls, as the Doctor and Rose started cuddling across from her on a sofa in the library on the TARDIS. They were too cute, and the Doctor looked at Rose like she was the sun, not that he would ever admit it. The older blonde girl definitely noticed it and kept giving him longing looks whenever she thought the Doctor wasn’t looking.

A paper caught her eye as she scrolled past it, The History and Folklore of the Werewolves of Mystic Falls! After reading the abstract, introduction, and conclusion, Caroline was hooked and finished the whole paper in half an hour.

“Ok so, I think I solved our boredom problem with a loophole. We go to Mystic Falls circa 1001 CE, and meet the werewolves there! Bonnie can’t object to me going home… even if it’s thousand years in the past!

Rose looked mildly interested and nodded, flashing her a smile. The doctor snorted and rubbed his shaved head.

“Werewolves, really Care? Where are you getting this stuff?”

“A professor at Duke, Isobel Flemming, wrote a fascinating paper on it,” she handed her laptop to the Doctor, he finished the paper in two minutes.

“Alright we’ll go, but don’t get your hopes up. No matter how great of a paper this parapsychologist writes, there are no such things as werewolves,” he said, holding up his hands in a sign of surrender.

She bounced on the balls of her feet, “You won’t regret this! It will be so much fun!”

Nicknames

Elena does and always has done this thing where she gives people titles or nicknames and then fully considers every single one of them to be part of that person's full name. She will dead ass list every single name like she's announcing royalty with a million titles.

For instance Caroline will always be "Caroline care-bear miss mystic Forbes" and on special occasions she adds the title "Third grade hopscotch champion and number one cup cake maker in virginia."

She does this for all the people she genuinely cares about and she has no idea when it started. She names almost everything with ridiculously long names to. Like she has a stuffed unicorn Bonnie gave her and his name is "Mr doctor professor snuggles cuddlesworth the eighth." For genuinely, no reason. Caroline often questions "Oh my GOD Elena, why are you like this?"

She has no idea but she just thinks its fun to give people and pets/stuffed animals unreasonably long names. She gets enjoyment out of saying the name and then going "Or for short you can call him jerry." Its the little things in life. Just apparently not when it comes to names, those must always be at least thirty seven characters long. Build-a-bear hates her.

Caroline Elizabeth Forbes was born into a picture perfect family life. Her family was whole and in love. She believed in the rainbows and that love would never die. Cheerleading, spelling bees, ballet classes, and more were all done from the moment that she could walk and talk. Bill was the cheerdad and Liz was the police officer working her way up to Sheriff in town eventually. A bright adult that turned into a very stressed out teenager. Her father, the one that she was close to came out as gay and while Caroline was happy to have more family it felt like a loss when she barely got a phone call from him and the only times she saw him was holidays. Caroline still sent him letter monthly and the two of them would talk through the mail but it was not the same. Her father lived out of town and going out there was hard until she got her own car. Caroline spent her summers with her father and his husband, Steven along with Steven’s younger daughter Mary-Ann.

At the age of 18, Caroline’s life changes oddly for the better with a smothering act from Katherine Pierce. She dies and turns into a supernatural that she had only thought was in twilight books. Life as a vampire is hard to adjust to but she manages and with it grows a sense of confidence and self that didn’t rely on being the perfect daughter.

Sometime in college, she becomes magically pregnant with her professor’s babies and things change once more. She attempts to make a real family while the man she loves is running for his life. The girls grow older and Caroline throws herself into being the best mother that she can. Three perfect years, one engagement fallen through and then a marriage to a man that dies on her wedding day.

This part lol. I wonder why Caroline became more of a Stelena fangirl in season 4 than season 2 considering Stefan was worse. She may have not known everything, but she knew enough to know that he was a red flag. In 3x18 she talked about missing well adjusted Stefan but before and after she wanted Elena to be with him:

Caroline Forbes: Hi Elena! Now, I’m your best friend and I will support you in whatever decision you make, but if you break up with Stefan and start sleeping with Damon I will personally cut your lying whore tongue out and staple it to the wall as an example anyone else who might dare offend the noble manifestation of goodness that is Stefan Salvatore.

Do you think Caroline Forbes is the Amy March of TVD? Going from the girl who felt second to Elena in everything her whole life to becoming the woman who stood her ground and refused to settle for less even though she always loved Stefan like Amy loved Laurie,it does seem like the writers took inspiration from Little Women for the portrayal of Caroline in terms of her relationship with Stefan.But then, at times, it felt like TVD was pulling a Jo March with Caroline especially with the whole Caroline- settling-for-an-older-professor-of-German-origin as a last resort (not taking into consideration the actress's real life pregnancy being incorporated in the narrative) quite like what Louisa May Alcott did with her central heroine,almost out of spite,since all the fangirls demanded Jo must have a love interest similar to TVD fandom's desire to see Caroline with their preferred man.

That's an astute comparison, anon. I think you're on to something. Your Caroline-Amy comparison makes sense in regards to Greta Gerwig's 2019 adaptation of Little Women because in Gerwig's version Laurie marries Amy because he's fallen in love with her. In other adaptations, Laurie settles for Amy because he can't be with Jo.

I can see what you mean with the Caroline-Jo comparison as well considering so many fans were against Stefan and Caroline's relationship.

dancing was something that was heavily cemented in the carter & payne families . amity's paternal grandmother was a principle ballerina for the national ballet of canada while her maternal grandparents met when they became ballroom partners at a young age . they'd go on to found their own performing arts school in london , england arno payne academy of performing arts , which their children & grandchildren would attend .

it was clear early on , anthony and cindy carter had drastically different takes on how to raise children . the first crack in what was in the beginning a beautiful relationship . her father had more of a guiding approach , wanting his children to make their own choices and learn from them while cindy preferred a more hands on & rigid approach -- not leaving room for her children to so much as make a mistake . from the moment amity could walk , much like her siblings , she was put into dance . it wasn't a matter of whether she enjoyed it or even had an interest in dancing . her mother believed , even if it wasn't something she stuck with throughout life it would instill a level of discipline she wanted her children to have . this made it easy for amity to seem like something of a problem child in her mother's eyes , never wanting to go to rehearsals , talking back to instructors . even at a young age , she had an overly opinionated nature about her and it seemed no matter what her mother did she couldn't quick scrub that from her middle child .

amity went on to collect a rather impressive resume in the dance world , winning nearly every competition she entered . it was in 2015 , after meeting one of the judges on dancing with the stars during a competition that she agreed to enter the show as a pro . with more eyes on her and a camera on her behind the scenes her personality really shined and the public feel in love with her . she went on a four year stretch with the show , winning two of the season's and cementing herself as one of the more popular & more creative pros . after a lifetime of doing the same thing , she ventured out of her comfort zone and started dabbling in other things : creating a make up & lingerie line and even singing . her family likes to call it the hollywood effect . in 2019 , she didn't return to the show though , instead focusing on her other ventures . that didn't mean she was out of public eye though . it seemed like no matter what she did the public found a way to talk about it . her relationships becoming heavily documented , songs she wrote dissected to attach them to whoever her significant other was at the time ( and she had plenty that were public knowledge ) . it became so invasive that she ended up moving back to kansas city for a while to simply get away from all the lights and cameras .

while back home she rekindled her relationship with her mother , a relationship that was estranged from the moment amity landed in london when she was eight . even taught at her mother's academy for performing arts for a year before she inevitably returned to los angeles and back to the show that in essence catapulted her into fame . she's now been back in los angeles for just over two years and has found enough footing to deal with the attention that comes with such a lively city .

Stop Letting Fame Trump Talent In Publishing And Entrepreneurship

Neil Gaiman is known as one of the greatest living authors. In ’98, when he pitched his publisher the idea for American Gods, it was approved from a short description. Were American Gods the first book of an unknown writer, guaranteeing its publication would have taken more than a letter with an idea.

Even 25 years ago, Gaiman was branded as a world-class author. If he wasn’t broadly a household name yet, he was well known among those who mattered to a publisher—people who would buy his books.

A talentless hack who is also famous has a better chance of getting published and selling a hundred thousand copies than an unknown author as talented as Gaiman. Fame drives sales like a business superpower that can compensate for a lack of talent and vision. This is true in nearly every industry, not just publishing.

Consumers seem hungry for someone to step out in a black turtleneck, one arm extended, to hand out the next generation of phones. Fame works like a snowball rolling downhill, facilitating more fame. Profiles of the crazy ones who changed the world are jumped at by readers and writers alike.

The world isn’t filled with Steve Jobs’, in part because Steve Jobs wasn’t the god-like man we know. The picture painted by a marketing team, media, and eager consumers isn’t real. Jobs was just a man, not the technical thinker he’s often portrayed as.

Like all larger-than-life figures, Jobs is a tapestry. Threads of reality, woven with points of business professors, human ideals, moral lessons, and yarns from a marketing department. Jobs standing on a stage announcing the iPod was nearly as much a construct as Zuse standing on Mount Olympus.

A charismatic figure can add a few trillion in economic value to a business. Steve Wozniak created a microcomputer capable of being the Apple I appears predestined. Without Jobs, Wozniak probably would have been Linus Torvalds, a titan of computing who built a technology many rely on but few can name.

Everyone wants to be a flashy Steve Jobs figure in the modern tech entrepreneur economy. It takes less talent to be a mystical public figure than to create something valuable. Media outlets like Forbes prop up many frauds.

Here are a few alumni of the Forbes ’30 under 30′

Caroline Ellison, pleaded guilty to wire and securities fraud.

Obinwanne Okeke, jailed for ten years for masterminding an $11 million email scam.

Charlie Javice, being sued by JPMorgan Chase for faking customer records.

Martin Shkreli, sentenced to 7 years in prison for fraud.

That’s just scratching the surface. Elizabeth Holmes, who wore a black turtleneck, a not-so-subtle nod to the a Apple co-founder, made Forbes ’30 under 30′ list for her blood-testing startup Theranos. Holmes is currently in prison for fraud because the technology behind Theranos never worked.

In the land of “visionary” tech entrepreneurs, hype is power, driving sales, attracting funding, and reducing scrutiny. Companies masquerade as tech-heavy when they are not. WeWork’s business model was always subleasing office space, but it reached a $47 billion valuation pretending it was a tech firm.

Technology scales efficiently, unlike restaurants or real estate. Investors want to invest in firms that will scale. Entrepreneurs want funding. Business consultants and columnists liked saying every company is a tech company.

A lot of companies pretend to be in tech. An automotive leasing company puts on the corporate turtleneck to raise funds and self-promote as a “fin-tech startup”. They have no tech because they have no Wozniak. They don’t even have a Jobs who plays the part of a visionary well; they have a PR firm and stolen valor.

As said, talentless hacks who start famous have a better chance of getting published than an unknown author as talented as Gaiman. So now everyone is trying to be famous. If you want to stop seeing headlines of entrepreneurs defrauding investors, and customers, stop letting them get famous before they’ve created anything.
