Going to other's Admiral's barbecue, after the mission, becomes almost fun. Generally Ice tries to avoid them because he knows enough secrets this people carry around that's difficult to look at them straight in the eyes and forget. And every single Admiral's wife has someone to introduce to him because he can't be still alone after all this years! More than once Ice had thought to came out just to shut them up.

But after, after it becomes a playground. All the invitations close with a bring your spouse and your kids! and, for the first time in forever, Ice doesn't only have one of this things but two. He has twelve kids, not one, twelve. It's hilarious and hysterical. It's perfect. It makes Maverick wanting to arrive before everyone but later than most because he wants all the audience for the big reveal. Admiral Cain's wife faints when she saw how many they are and Cain himself almost throw a punch in Maverick's face when he discovers who is husband his. They are both having the time of their life.

The fact that episode 3 kind of just implied that there were quite a lot of random flying ships prior to the Destiny's Bounty is unexpected

Ice writes a seven pages long letter to all their friends listing all the reasons they shouldn't talk about Fast&Furious in front of Mav. The most important is: he tried to do set up an illegal street plane race that same night and please have collectively mercy on me, I love him but he has no impulse control and I'd like to sleep for a week without worrying too much. Nobody really listen to him and for a week and half Mav sleeps on the couch.

It's totally worth it. Okay maybe not totally because sleeping without Ice is a terribile terribile punishment.

#ive been looking forward to alone w you in the ether for so long #and i finally started it and its like nonstop existential info dumping?? which im usually fine with but im just not convinced at all #with this book like it sounds made up #and this is coming from me a tlt fan #i love crazy introspective world view books like the overstory and cloud cuckoo land and cloud atlas and things like that #like to be clear #my issue isn’t the quote unquote science #like not to be judgmental but these characters just seem like a manic pixie dream girl and a guy with undiagnosed autism #has anyone else read it though like does it get better??#i usually only read reviews after i finish a book bc i want to read it without others opinions but im so not excited so far
