I'm actually just gonna put some thoughts about how I'll design each of the girls under the cut if anyone wants to see.
Sadako Yamamura: Skin lumps from smallpox. Deformed and scarred face, droopy eyes. Hair all rests over her shoulders. Keeps her head leaned a bit to one side. HORRIBLY fucked up nails. Wearing a white hospital gown specifically (??). Maybe some kind of band around her wrist, grippy socks, more medical themes. Light/dark contrast to represent the light and dark sides of her (that I admittedly think are a little stupid but oh well)- even if her full face is exposed, one side is always obscured in shadow.
Eun-Suh Park: Skin sort of glows (sun motif- she uses the name Sunny Park before her death). Hair is much neater. Wearing a white hanbok. Dark circles under her eyes contrasting her glowing bright skin. May lack a nose or mouth if that's not silly looking. Also has skin lumps from smallpox. Fucked up nails, but those are really emphasized on Sadako. Could have barely visible legs, but I suppose Sadako would too since both Korean and Japanese ghosts are usually depicted with that.
Samara Morgan: Skin is grey and a little moldy looking. Hair is wavy and wet. Wearing a white nightgown. Face is sort of melty, dirty, mildewy. Always dripping wet. Fingers are swollen, blue, and missing nails with loose skin. Maybe she's got some cute socks on. Two stands of white hair (the Welsh water horse spirit ceffyl-dŵr is often depicted as piebald, so make Samara piebald) or if I wanna get a little silly with it maybe some horse ears or some fuckin. hooves. Or horns of some kind for generic demonism. Or scales like the sea demon Vepar who's depicted as a mermaid. (Yes, I did stay up for an hour and a half longer to find a single actual demon whose powers correlated to the sea at all that had a nonhuman appearance. It was more exhausting than it sounds.)

once I've finished the Ring novel series I think I'm gonna go back through and watch all the adaptations because if I remember correctly certain things left out from the novel kind of ruin Sadako/Samara's motivations?

LOVESTRUCK IN THE CITY // KDRAMA DİZİ YORUMU
UYARI : Yazılar genel olarak spoiler içerebilir. İçermeyedebilir.
İmdb puanı: 7,6 Benim Puanım: 6
Drama: Lovestruck in the City / City Couple's Way of Love
Hangul: 도시남녀의 사랑법
Director: Park Shin-Woo
Writer: Jung Hyun-Jung, Jung Da-Yeon
Episodes: 17
Date: 2021
Language: Korean
Country: South Korea
Cast: Ji Chang-Wook, Kim Ji-Won, Kim Min-Suk, So Ju-Yeon, Han Ji-Eun, Ryoo Kyung-Soo
Açıkçası “Slice of life” tarzını severim.
Ji Chang-Wook, The Sound of macig dizisinde hayatıma giren bir oyuncuydu. Kim Ji-Won ise Descendants of the sun ile tanışmıştım.
İkinci çift Choi Kyeong-Jun(Kim Min-Suk) ve Suh Rin-I (So Ju-Yeon) idi.

What horror crossover, he’ll, crossover in general, do you think is an actual good idea and would like to see? Or that you’d simply like to see, regardless of overall goodness?
There are actually a couple of horror crossovers I would love to watch, some of them for no real reason beside wanting to see the two characters interact, while others to see them fight.
The crossovers I would love to see are:
“Carrie” and “The Rage: Carrie 2″
Tumblr media
I would really love to see some kind of supernatural/teenage horror with Carrie’s ghost trying to help out Rachel’s with her telekinises. And because I just want to watch the telekinises sisters together.
Michael vs Jason
Tumblr media
Because it’s Michael vs Jason. I can’t really imagine a real plot, but I’ve seen neat fanfilms with the two of them so I think a budget movie could work out too.
“A nightmare on Elm Street” and “Scream”
Tumblr media
Two Wes Craven movies in one. I have no idea how the story would work out, but I would love to see Freddy’s and Ghostface’s universe combined.
“Scream” and every horror movie ever made
Tumblr media
This would be a very meta-movie, but I thought the idea of having a character that loves horror movies to meet their ‘heroes’ would be amazing.
Victor vs Jason
Tumblr media
This is just me wanting to watch Kane Hodder fight Kane Hodder, or Kane Hodder fight Ken Kirzinger.
“Ringu”, “The Ring Virus” and “The Ring”
Tumblr media
I would love to see the three of them interact in one movie. Just for fun.
Freddy vs Pinhead
Tumblr media
Two sadistic demons fighting, yes please.
“The Omen” and “Rosemary’s baby”
Tumblr media
I think it would be interesting to have a mother who gave birth to the Anti-Christ, adopt another Anti-Christ.
These are the crossovers I think about so far.

I have a lot of feelings (Lovestruck In the City ep 10-contains spoilers)
Eun-oh and Jae-won still have feelings for each other!
Now we know why Eun-oh disappeared. I love how Rin-i and Kyung-joon were so protective of Eun-oh and beat up the guy that wrecked her. I wonder what would have gone down if Geon was there to complete the trio (of Eun-oh’s friends). I hope Kyung-joon and Jae-won can do damage control. I also wonder how Jae-won would react to the ex-fiance’s transgressions once it sets in that the victim was person he loves was. I hope we get her full story soon.
I wonder when Eun-oh’s friends are gonna realize or find out that she’s Yoon Seon-a. Geon might figure it out.
Seeing Jae-won slowly put the pieces together and figure out that the Miss Lee of the marketing mock ups, the Eun-oh whose honor Rin-i and Kyung-joon were defending, and the Lee Eun-o from the police station are all the same person was so satisfying. When he hesitated over the phone I yelled CALL HER. Makes me so sad that Jae-won thinks Eun-oh is dating another guy. I’m so distressed. I’m going to be carrying that tension with me until it resolves in the show–so like, for days.
But he’ll be so happy and smug when he finds out she’s not dating anyone. Boy can’t keep a straight face.
Eun-oh needs a hug. She probably needs a hobby or to go do something, like go for a run or go volunteering or something. She has too much time on her hands to wallow in self-misery and lost-love. Somebody hire her, please! When Geon pointed out her ring necklace my heart ached. And she finally revealed she still ardently loves Jae-won when she spilled her heart to the garbage disposal guy. I want her anguish to resolve. Hopefully she’ll get the chance to tell everything to Jae-won soon. I think even if he weren’t to accept her or forgive her, explaining everything to him will allow her to release everything that has her choked up until now. What she regrets most is not being honest with Jae-won and consequently breaking his heart. Eun-oh probably feels guilty for lying to him because she thinks what she did to Jae-won is like what ex did to her. When Jae-won does welcome her back to him, she won’t allow herself to go to him until she forgives herself for her transgression. I think this will probably be a process that occurs between the two of them over time.
Jae-won feels very strongly, but doesn’t know how to hold back or manage his emotions healthily, whereas Eun-oh feels so strongly that she tries to hide or ignore everything. They gotta balance each other out. I’m waiting for their tension and longing to explode. Hopefully by making out. It’ll be so satisfying to watch. Though I really want them to end together, if the show takes a bittersweet turn and they don’t end up together, I would be okay with that. I think the ‘happy ending’ is that they loved and changed each other. Since we haven’t seen them together very much in the present and the only time that we do is in emotionally reactive situations, I don’t know if they would still have as good a relationship as when they were at the beach. I hope we find out soon, as in, the next episode. I’m itching to watch their romantic and sexual tension in the present timeline.
There wasn’t very much Sun-yeoung in this episode. Hopefully there’ll be more in the next. I just want her to realize she was wrong about Geon having romantic/sexual feelings for his best friends. I want her to admit it to Geon. I don’t care so much if they get back together or not, but I love their energy when they’re in the same room and I want to see more of it. I want to see more of her in person with the other characters. She’s had the fewest interactions with the other characters. Maybe one of the other girls (Rin-i or Eun-oh) will go to her for help with Eun-oh or love advice, respectively. I wonder how she’d react.
Anyway, what are your thoughts and predictions?

A Guide to the Ringu/Ring Films
This one was very hard to put together as there is just so much Ring content out there, so hopefully I’ve got everything here, and if not, I’m sure this guide will have to be updated later on anyway!
A Quick Introduction
Ringu/Ring is a series that centers around Sadako Yamamura (aka Samara Morgan & Park Eun-suh) and a cursed video that causes all who watch it to die within seven days (or in one version, two days). Sadako’s backstory varies from entry to entry in the franchise, but it is generally portrayed that she had some sort of psychic powers before she died, partially leading to how the curse works.
Ring originally started out as a series of novels written by Koji Suzuki before it was adapted as a tv movie in 1995, then followed up by an actual theatrical movie in 1998.
The Japanese Ring Films
As stated, the first actual Ring movie is a 1995 tv movie.
Ring: Kanzenban (1995)
This adaptation follows the original story of the novel, so there’s many differences to the version that we know now, but Sadako is still a part of the story. It’s certainly worth a watch if you’re interested in the novels.
Now this is where things become a bit more confusing. At some point with the Japanese films they sort of split into four categories: the ones that follow director Hideo Nakata’s timeline, the ones that follow the book timeline, the ones that follow both timelines, and the versus films.
Both Timelines
Ring (1998)
Ring 0: Birthday (2000)
Ring/Ringu is obviously the movie we know today, that is very beloved. While it partially follows the books, it also has Hideo Nakata’s personal touches to it, that you’ll sort of see no matter what timeline you look at. Ring 0, however, is an origin story, and gives you a look into Sadako’s life before she died while she was a part of a theater troupe. It’s extremely tragic, and one of my personal favorites.
Hideo Nakata Timeline
Ring 2 (1999)
Sadako (2019)
As implied, these two movies follow Hideo Nakata’s storyline, and are also two other movies in the franchise directed by him. Would recommend these two if you want to see a continuation of the story from the characters in the first film.
Rasen Timeline
Spiral/Rasen (1998)
Sadako 3D (2012)
Sadako 3D 2 (2013)
So here’s the interesting thing about Spiral/Rasen, it was actually released at the exact same time as the original 1998 movie. However, there ended up being much more interest in Ring rather than Spiral, so it quickly flopped upon release and is why we saw another sequel to Ring come out the next year. Though there was certainly some interest in it, as the Sadako 3D movies were released in 2012 and 2013. While these follow different characters, they still have ties back to the ones from Spiral, and follow the books to some extent.
Versus Films
Hikiko-san vs Sadako (2015)
Sadako vs Kayako (2016)
Bunshinsaba vs Sadako (2016)
Bunshinsaba vs Sadako 2 (2017)
Basically, a bunch of movies portraying Sadako fighting other ghosts from Japanese/Chinese media. Each one is vastly different, but definitely fun if you’re into seeing that sort of thing! Note: at this time I am unable to find a translated version of the first Bunshinsaba vs Sadako movie, however, it won’t be an issue to watch the second as I was able to watch it easily without knowing the plot of the first (if you can find a translated version though, feel free to inform me!) Note: the Bunshinsaba vs Sadako films are actually Chinese movies, but since i was covering the vs films here, I felt it’d be best to just add it rather than making a whole different category.
The TV Series
Ring: The Final Chapter (1999)
Rasen (1999)
The last bit of Ring media we have to cover in Japan, Ring actually got a tv series with two seasons, one with 12 episodes and the other with 13 - the episodes running about 45 minutes each. Though I have not seen it yet so I can’t give great detail, it’s said to loosely be based off the novel along with the 1998 Ring film.
Updates
since making this of course more Ring media has came out, so any updates i will add as they come along
Sadako DX (2022) - haven’t seen it myself yet, but it’s stated to be a sequel to Spiral (1998)
The Ring Virus Film
A quick extra stop before we get to the American films, The Ring Virus (1999) is a South Korean remake of both the 1998 Ring movie, but also Ring: Kanzenban to an extent as well. It borrows many elements from both, and instead of Sadako we have Park Eun-suh as our cursed ghost this time. While I wouldn’t say it adds really anything new to the series, still worth the watch if you want to see all of the Ring movies.
The American Ring Films
The Ring (2002)
The Ring Two (2005)
Rings (2017)
I don’t think much needs to be said here. The Ring was a very popular remake in America and is what is credited for starting the J-Horror remake phase over here. The popularity caused for two current sequels to be made, one even directed by Hideo Nakata himself (The Ring Two). Obviously it’s a much more Americanized version of the series, with Sadako this time being replaced with Samara Morgan, which unlike herself in both the Japanese and Korean films, is a child, which adds a lot to how Samara’s story is played out differently from Sadako’s.
Other Media
If you’re looking for other media pertaining to the Ring Franchise, here’s some for you:
The Ring novel series by Koji Suzuki (consisting of 6 books: Ring, Spiral, Loop, Birthday, S & Tide)
The manga series (consisting of 6 different volumes all following different movies)
The Ring: Terror’s Realm (Dreamcast Game)
Rings (2005 short film)
Various other mangas and comics by different authors (Sadako-san and Sadako-chan, Sadako at the End of the World, Sadako)
And there you have it! A hopefully helpful guide to the Ringu/Ring franchise! Of course, new stuff will be added as time passes.

Lovestruck in The City: Love Is Messy
 Year: 2020-2021
Channel: Kakao TV
Streaming Service: Netflix
Cast: Ji Chang Wook, Kim Ji Won, Soo Joo Yeon, Kim Min Soek, Han Ji Eun, Ryu Kyung Soo
Lovestruck in the City is an unusual drama for more reasons than one. It ditches the sixteen episode one hour each format for a thirty minute seventeen episode format. Additionally, it employs the “mockumentary” style à la Office and Parks and Recreation, and unlike other dramas, which release their episodes on two consecutive days each week, Lovestruck in the City aired on Tuesdays and Friday. It boasts an ensemble cast composed of Ji Chang Wook, Park Ji Won, Soo Joo Yeon, Kim Min Soek, Han Ji Eun, and Ryu Kyung Soo. Lovestruck in The City has a very Friends-esque appeal with a story of six individuals, whose lives are interconnected with each other.
Park Jae Won is an architect who meets Yoon Seon Ah during his vacation on Yamyang Island. Both have a passionate summer fling that abruptly ends when Park Jae Won returns to Seoul. Jae Won is left heartbroken when he is unable to reunite with Seon Ah. On the other hand, Yoon Seon Ah, whose real name is really Lee Eun Oh, is a marketer, who hides her feelings for Jae Won, because of her guilt of lying to him about her real identity and for pretending to be someone she’s not. Lee Eun Oh also happens to be Kang Geon’s roommate, a novel writer, who has had a tumultous relationship with the eccentric Sun Young. Kang Geon and Lee Eun Oh are also best friends with Sun Ri-ni who is in a stable long term relationship with Choi Kyeong Jun,who also just happens to Park Jae Won’s cousin and co-worker. Pretty crazy and confusing right? Here’s a diagram that I made to better visualize the relationship:
Tumblr media
Park Jae Won is perhaps Ji Chang Wook’s career best role. This was my first time watching a Ji Chang Wook drama to completion and from the clips that I’ve seen of him in other drams, I’m convinced that what he did in Lovestruck in The City was something that was outside of his comfort zone and yet he played the role so effortlessly. There was something so inherently powerful and moving about watching a man express his vulnerability so openly. We see Jae Won struggle with his inability to completely let go of the Yoon Seon Ah and the memories that he cherished with her even at the cost of mockery by his friends and family. We see him drunkenly visiting police stations to file a complaint against the “camera thief” that didn’t just steal his camera, but also his heart. Jae Won’s character is what in many ways what allow us to appreciate the complexity of Eun Oh’s character. She’s a character that the audience incredibly detests for leaving Jae Won stranded and yet she makes us wonder if we judge women too quickly. Through the course of the show, we see Eun Oh as a wonderfully messy woman trying to navigate her own identity after undergoing one of the lowest points in her life. Eun Oh is a woman crawling out of an identity crisis as she reconciles her constructed identity of Yoon Seon Ah with who she was and wants to be. Seeing thes two fall apart then reunite and find their happiness is where the show’s true purpose lies.
As hinted in the last sentence of the paragraph, the show is definitely more centered on Park Jae Won and Lee Eun Oh’s relationship than the other two couples and the writing surrounding the other characters feel weak at times. We never truly understand why Kang Geon and Sun Young liked each other in the first place and why she felt like she needed to let him go even though they were already broken up. Suh Rini and Kyeong Jun’s relationship felt like it abruptly ended and I don’t think the argument they had warrants enough for a breakup. For some reason, the stories of these two feels very incomplete and is only exacerbated with the last episode focusing on a completely different couple that was not part of the show. I also want to add that I felt like Sun Young’s character was extremely underdeveloped with her coming off as nothing other than the “psycho bitch” trope who’s here for the dark humor - a woman who’s badass with no cause or direction.
Regardless, I applaud Lovestruck in the City for adopting a new inventive format and managing to successfully pull it through. Perhaps the biggest lesson that Lovestruck in the City teaches us is that love doesn’t cause everything to fall in the right place. It’s a tornado that sometimes makes our life a jumbled mess. However, the pursuit of putting those pieces back together with your significant other is what offers us the true contentment in our relationships.

CRACKED CROWNS | AT FANSIGNS
KANG EUN-JUNG (LEY)
First member HEIRS meet in the lineup
Shamelessly flirts with each HEIR she meets
Loves interacting with with the people videotaping her or taking photos in the crowd
Two peace signs up against her cheek is her signature pose
Her signature is often a little sloppy since she’s so excited to meet new people but you can still read it
Weaves in and out of Korean and English when she speaks
SUH JANG-JI (HARLEM)
Second member HEIRS meet in the lineup
HEIRS will often come to compare their height difference with her; and as much as she pretend-shows that she hates it she find it almost endearing
Wants to know everything and anything about HEIRS that she meets
Does a minimum amount of aegyo; not really her thing but she’ll do it to appease HEIRS
Tries to ease nay anxiety HEIRS might have before they move on to the rest of the members
Gets called Harley, but doesn’t mind
Same with New York; despite not being from there
Simplest signature; it’s easy to pick hers out of the group
The only member to write their English name as her signature
LEE MI-YOUNG (M.Y. / MY)
Eighth member HEIRS meet in the lineup
Her sister and fellow member Sooyoung bothers her for 95% of the fansign
Doesn’t have the capacity to sit still for more than 30 minutes; but she tries her best
Will shamelessly flirt with whoever is in front of her; especially girl fans
“Did you miss me?”
“Thank you for supporting us! I’ll see you again soon, right?”
“I’m your favorite, right?”
Likes to try and find who’s taking videos or photos of her in the crowd
SONG ROWOON (ROWOON)
Fourth member HEIRS meet in the lineup
If you come there without her being your bias, you’ll leave with her being your bias or at least a top level bias wrecker
Gets the most headwear items; bows, hates, flower crowns etc
Her favorite is a top hat with rabbit ears sticking out of it
Fans propose to her at least 10 to 20 times each fansign
Doesn’t seem like it but she gets quite anxious at fansigns
Majority of the time, she’ll have no idea how to react to gifts
Basically a hidden staff member; helps clean up afterwards and tries to get to members to calm down and say their last goodbye and get them to their car
Will often links arms and hand with OLIVIA as a way to calm her down
HEIRS will often gift her journals and books as they’re things she normally collects on her own time
PARK KI-HEE (Y.U. / YUU)
Sixth member HEIRS meet in the lineup
Will has multiple times hold up the line if someone speaks to her about book or writing in general
Likes it better when fans speak to her in English as she has a tough time translating when there’s a lot going on at once
Though she tries her hardest when they speak Korean to her though !!
Sometimes get random bouts of homesickness and will often gush about where she’s form if people ask about it; causes her to hold up the line a couple times
HEIRS will often bring money (coins and or bills) from foreign places / places they’re from to increase her foreign denomination collection
CHOI YOON-SUNG (RONI)
Fifth member HEIRS meet in the lineup
Sweetest gummy smile the whole time !!
Loves when HEIRS speak to her in French
Or if they ask her to speak certain words or phrases in French to them
She isn't the group’s visual for no reason !!
Looks like a model whenever fansign photos are released
Ends up with the most glasses gifts
Very considerate of fans; if they seem a little hot she’ll turn her fan to them instead of at her
Another member who fans jokingly propose to
YANG YIJUN (OLIVIA)
Third member HEIRS meet in the lineup
Remembers every HEIR’s face, name, where they’re from, etc
Biggest cheesy smile you could ever see
Loves dressing up for fansigns !!
Often wears clothing HEIRS give her to their next fansign in hopes of them seeing her it in
Fakes sadness through pouting when members don’t share their snacks with her
Third member who often gets proposals from HEIRS
Loves when HEIRS pinky swear with her
#1 ROVIA supporter; you can watch her slowly move to hold ROWOON’s hand, lean her head on she shoulder, or try and get her to try snacks she’s been given
LEE SOO-YOUNG (SOYO)
Seventh member HEIRS meet in the lineup
Shameless aegyo; blows kisses, makes finger hearts, the works
Most likely will accidently break any toy given to her
Has the most staff around her as her signing area gets the messiest
It helps her to not drop anything or break anything else
If she’s not bothering her sister M.Y. than she’s not doing her sisterly duty
Please don’t give her any sweets or snacks with with a lot of sugar in them; she’ll bounce off the walls. staff will need to calm her down majority of the time
Used to have neat signature, but it’s sometimes illegible due to her excitedness
