5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I do indeed! At least I do my best. I enjoy getting feedback and finding out how readers are feeling about the story and the characters. It's really the best part of sharing my writing with y'all 🥰

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Nothing... yet... 😬 I don't really have a plan for angsty endings, I angst to for the happy stuff 😁

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

The happiest I would say is either Stars Within or Stars Aglow (the actual ending is coming istg)

8. Do you get hate on fics?

My HP fic caught some hate because some people don't enjoy Black Hermione and that is what it is... I don't really care. The BPWF fandom has been nothing but welcoming and they have my entire heart 🤗

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

LMFAO yes 😂🤣🤣 Mind you, I just started in March and the majority of my fics are rated E 💀 but I write all kinds of smut and will be writing a lot more in the future 😁

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

There is a Narnia/Harry Potter fic in my personal drafts because I adore both fandoms. I might find the courage to post it one day 💀

LOL no... I don't share well but I'm always happy to plot with my besties 😜

I feel like this answer is pretty obvious but um Attoye (who's surprised 🤣)

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Sadly... Sunbound. It's entirely possible that I'll come back to it, but the vibe keeps drifting and I've got other things to work on 😅😅

16. What are your writing strengths?

World-building for sure... it's my favorite part. I've also been told I'm good with characterization(?) but idk... I just write what feels right.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

It takes me a ridiculously long time to write scenes my brain doesn't looooove. I also can't write things out of order, which is what takes updates so long 💀

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I like to do it for brief phrases, a few sentences, and terms of endearment, but full conversations just get a note that they're happening in a different language. I like to put English translations in brackets for the differing languages I use, and I try my best to find the most accurate translations, but I don't speak Yucatec Maya or Xhosa 😂

It's not done yet, but Like Real People Do is going to end up being one of the best things I ever write. At least until that angsty crazy thing I'm planning comes out. 😁

“What?” ChiChi wasn’t sure she heard right. “You mean that’s why you sent Gohan away? You wanna spend time with me?”

 Goku felt warmth spread on his cheeks. He rather show it than say it but if this was the only way to calm ChiChi and get her to accept his decision…. “I spent nearly a year with Gohan in that room. It was great. I spent time with Gohan when I came back from Yardrat but Piccolo was here and it wasn’t the same. It was great being with Gohan but when I was in that room, I thought about you and how we ain’t done anything in a long time.”

 “Yeah,” ChiChi agreed dully. “I think it was before you died we really spent time alone. Dad would watch Gohan for a few days while we celebrated our anniversary. There were a few date nights we’ve had but since you died,” ChiChi shrugged, “nothing.” It bothered ChiChi she and Goku hadn’t spent time alone together like they used to. They satisfied their physical needs when the urge rose. Some nights they spent it talking but the way Goku carried on these last years, ChiChi didn’t think Goku felt the same. “I thought you were happier since you died. Before Raditz, you were getting bored. You were craving another fight and you got it fighting your brother, then Vegeta, Freeza, the Artificial Humans and now Cell.”

 ChiChi wiped away a tear threatening to fall. “For three years, it was you, Gohan and Piccolo and our days were spent with you three talking about fighting, talking about how much stronger you’ve gotten. It was always about fighting. It was no longer about what Gohan learned from his books, about you earning money from Mr. Olitz’s farm, what you and Aki were doing, dinner with Dad, our family going on trips together or expanding our family. It was you, Gohan and Piccolo all day while I spent my days alone. Even my Dad hasn’t come around as much anymore because of my decision to stay with you and Piccolo living with us. We made up after you returned but it never meant I was completely happy with our arrangement but it seemed like you were and I was just a distraction so you didn’t get bored in the early years of our marriage.”

 It was as if Raditz punched him in his stomach again and he lied on the beach powerless to move. ChiChi’s revelation of her inner pain these three years caught him off guard. When he returned from Yardrat, they talked a lot. It took a while but Goku thought things were good between them. When the training started, Goku did leave Gohan and Piccolo for an hour or two and spent it with ChiChi. Two years left him missing his wife intimately terribly but over time the visits became lesser to none at all. The intimacy continued but at night when everyone slept. He never asked what ChiChi did while he trained all day. ChiChi took care of the house and prepared food but Goku knew it didn’t take ChiChi all day to do that.

 He assumed Gyu-Mao visited. Goku knew things were strained between himself and his father-in-law but Goku assumed Gyu-Mao visited while he trained with Gohan and Piccolo. He never suspected Gyu-Mao didn’t because he didn’t accept ChiChi’s decision to stay with him and allow Piccolo to live with them but he should’ve. Gohan’s his grandson and Gyu-Mao must’ve been shocked and angered, too, Piccolo was living with them after all he did to their family. They visited Gyu-Mao’s village for festivals, saw him on holidays and birthdays but mostly Goku and his family stayed on Mount Paouz. It wasn’t until their talk after Gohan’s party Goku felt the ice melt between him and Gyu-Mao. After their fight, Goku accepted things were different between them but Goku never realized ChiChi’s relationship with her father was in an almost similar place since his return.

 With Gyu-Mao staying away and ChiChi being alone most of the day, other things became clearer to Goku. No wonder ChiChi insisted he and Gohan took one day a week off from training. No wonder she insisted Goku and Gohan eat breakfast, lunch and dinner with her. No wonder she insisted Goku get his license again and take her on shopping trips. She was lonely, estranged from her father and finding ways to cope while he never noticed. How could he? Goku asked himself. Everyday, ChiChi said goodbye and welcomed him and Gohan with a smile. Some days ChiChi got angry but most ChiChi quietly did her housework. He assumed things were fine and they weren’t. She buried her feelings like he did.

 In their ten years of marriage, ChiChi became the only person to see Goku as himself. Unlike his friends, she knew when he was hiding things behind his smile. She knew when things really bothered him. Goku felt he failed as a husband not noticing these things in his wife.

 “I’m sorry, ChiChi,” Goku apologized. “I’m sorry you thought those bad things because of me. It’s not true. I’m just selfish and I haven’t been a good husband to you. I didn’t notice things were bad between you and your Pops because of me. It’s my fault. It’s always my fault.” Once again, Goku thought of Bulma’s words of bad things following him wherever he went.

 Maybe Bulma is right. If it wasn’t for me, Gohan wouldn’t have been kidnapped. He wouldn’t have been left alone for six months. ChiChi wouldn’t have been alone for a year. ChiChi and her Pops had a good relationship all her life and I ruined that. I’m always hurting the ones I care for the most.

 “Your fault?” ChiChi questioned. She noticed the frown and pain in his eyes. Something was bothering him. “What are you talking about? What’s your fault?”

 “ChiChi,” Goku enclosed his hands around hers. Gone was his smile. His face was hardened as if he was preparing for a grueling fight and his gaze was so tense ChiChi felt frozen in place. “After the Cell Games, it’ll be us and Gohan. Maybe another child.” ChiChi smiled at that. “I haven’t been a good husband to you. Let me try now. Let’s fix this before Gohan comes home.”

 “You….. you wanna work on us and our issues?” Another tear fell from her eyes but ChiChi sounded hopeful. “We’ve had issues for years, Goku. Can we really fix them in five days?”

 “You know me,” Goku smiled brightly at ChiChi. “I love a challenge and you know there’s no stopping me when I want something.” ChiChi’s laugh lifted his spirits. He knew he was being arrogant but he knew he was right. “We can do this, ChiChi, if we want to and I want to.”

All Olitz Fics on Hiatus - Stepping away from writing...

My Dear Readers…

It’s with a heavy heart I write this author’s note to my faithful followers – writers and readers alike. Since the airing of 5.09 I have been struggling whether to keep writing my stories. At times I have almost given in, thrown in the towel, and stop. Yes that episode made me wonder why I kept writing but I stuck with it.

My dearest friend and fellow writer gave me a great pick me up speech, reminding me that my type of writing, the romance, slow-burn, Hallmark movie style, so distinctive of me was needed to keep Olitz alive and well. I have a certain style, with many readers who love it and are drawn to it. I write them the only way I see fit.

I felt it was my job as a loyal fan of Olivia Pope and Fitzgerald Grant, to give them happy, fluffy stories seeing it did not happen on screen. I stayed away from B613, Jake, Mellie and any of the other bull shit portrayed on TV. I wrote Olitz with problems but not ones that couldn’t be overcome with talking, trust and love.

The fandom at a large has also changed a great deal since I started writing a year after Scandal began. We were vocal, and supportive group, willing to help one another and not attack another’s opinion.

I was hesitant to join twitter but doing so was one of the best choices I ever made. Through twitter and my writing I’ve not only met some of the truest and nicest souls I’ve ever met but made friends who would ride and die for me.

Not only that…you became my family.

My Scandal sisters. The sisters I always wanted but didn’t realize how much I truly needed. I grew up not having sisters. Thanks to Scandal, Olitz and Tony Goldwyn I have them now.

This is what makes this decision even more difficult.

I have been wrestling with the decision to stop writing Olitz or keep going for a long time. I am finally going to stop, put all my fics, entire fanfic profile on hiatus. This is not easy choice but it’s the right one for me. Before anyone jumps to any conclusions, no one has attacked me, belittled my writing style, lack of updates, or been mean (even though that has happened more times than I care to admit.)

This decision to stop writing Olitz is not due to some guest reviewer whose words hurt my feelings, readers bugging for updates, or a troll who believes I have no clue what I’m doing. I’m making this choice stepping back, giving myself a needed break, in the hopes the joy I once felt writing Olivia and Fitz will return.

Like I wrote above, I’ve been struggling whether to stop since 5.09. I pushed through it before, continuing to write and update regularly. When I wrote, I felt the butterflies. Now I open a fic and my heart is heavy, uncertain, in the dark. I do not make this decision lightly knowing how many of you will probably be hurt, upset, and a little ticked off.

If you are I am sorry but I have to think of me and what’s best. The joy I felt…is just not there any longer. As I write this good-bye letter, I fight the tears brimming in the corners of my eyes.

My choice to stop writing has nothing to do with the show going off the air, Tony finishing Network, or a slew of other reasons – if my heart is no longer in it, then I cannot write. This feeling is beyond writer’s block. I open my laptop to either finish a chapter I started or begin a new one and I just can’t do anything. I sigh, get frustrated, and close the computer. If I force myself to write, the update will be crap and I cannot in good conscience put something out I am not pleased with.

It’s not me.

Who I am, or want to be remembered for.

Now before anyone questions whether my stories will remain on the fanfic site, THEY WILL. My profile will not be deleted. If I make that choice, I’ll be sure to warn you all ahead of time. I know how many of you love my version of Olitz so they will stay up as long as fans want to read them. I will also still be on social media (tumblr and twitter) as @ScandalMistress.

Also I do realize I have one final chapter of #CoveredBridges to post. I will do my best to finish the story over the summer but I can’t promise anything. Summer break will be busy because my Little Gladiators will be keeping me busy and wearing me out.

And if I make the decision to start writing again, it will be only one fic until it’s completed. I do not want to leave any of my fics unfinished but as of right now I have no choice. I hope my heart leads me back to Fitzgerald Grant and Olivia Pope but as of right now, it’s a no. I cannot nor will not make a promise to return because it will be unfair to you and myself.

I will always love Tony Goldwyn for bringing a fictional character to the screen that changed my life forever. He gave so much of himself to play Fitz. If it was not for him, I would not have started writing to begin with. He is my inspiration, and an incredible man. I am so fortunate to have met him and seen him in Network.

I’d still like to hear from you and truly hope you can forgive me for placing Olitz on the shelf. It’s just something I have to do, and what is best. I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me.

But like someone very wise once said, “in every ending, there is a new beginning.”

Although I literally said in the author’s note on THIS latest chapter, that if you leave me a question in a review as a “guest”, on ff.net, I’m not able to answer you...I STILL have been getting “guest” questions lol. Anyone who is reading over there, who also follows me here, I invite you to ask me anonymously over here, so that I can at least answer! In the off-chance that this reviewer IS reading over here, I’ll answer the following question:

“...as much as I enjoy this canon-post-show version of them, and as much as I love "The Firsts" Olitz babies, I would love to see your interpretation of this version of Olivia grow into becoming a mother. Is there any chance in your mind she might change her mind?”

When push comes to shove, honestly? True, CANON Olivia Pope? No, I don’t think she would change her mind. Assuming we consider Olivia the same age as Kerry (which we kind of have to because we have no clue about her age): the woman had an abortion in her late, LATE thirties. She got pregnant, naturally, and she said, no way. She’s a smart, educated woman, she’s aware of her fertility, she knew the store was closing forever in just a handful of years. That was a close-out sale baby, and she was positive she wasn’t interested (not saying you can’t get pregnant in your 40s, but I think we all know it can be more difficult). If even one little part of her truly wanted a baby with Fitz, she wouldn’t have been able to terminate.

When I write post-finale Olitz, I have to take the entire series into account. And to stay true to that Olivia, I can’t write her warming up to the idea of motherhood. I think she wants Fitz with her whole heart, she loves him, I think she would even marry him. But she doesn’t want to be a mother.

1. RUINED: JAKE AND OLIVIA (SCANDAL)

From the moment Jake Ballard and Olivia Pope met in that coffee shop in Washington, Scandal as a whole began to go downhill.

With the introduction of Jake’s character, Scandal lost its way, becoming mired in plots of intrigue and espionage and characters who chewed at the scenery whenever they so pleased.

4. SAVED: FITZ AND OLIVIA (SCANDAL)

Star-crossed romances are really Shonda’s forte.

In Scandal, this was the precise tactic used for the long-suffering, on and off again relationship between onetime President Fitzgerald Grant and political fixer Olivia Pope.

With Fitz trapped in an unhappy marriage of political convenience, and as inaccessible as any man could be, the plight of the good ship Olitz often seemed to be a doomed one.

However, over time, once Fitz was out of office and divorced, the two continued to find their way back to one another.

With their relationship now open to the public, rather than Washington’s worst kept secret, their feelings were able to flourish and grow.

By the series finale, it’s beyond apparent that these two are made for one another, and will be together for years to come.

When they greet each other with their signature flirtatious “Hi” at the end of the episode, all fans of the relationship know exactly what that means: their story is just beginning again.

I love reading Olitz fanfics but why do some authors feel the need to bring Jake r Mellie n unnecessarily. Like on the TV show Olitz never needed another person n their space to keep them interesting

The intense fics I was reading are crime/action heavy like Taken and governor grant. What I'm looking for in lighthearted is more romance, something where Olitz spend time together and are in love without huge stakes or something that will make me too sad.

That makes total sense. I haven’t read those stories for the same reasons. It’s not my genre. I don’t like sci-fi, thriller, or mystery-based Olitz stories. I also don’t read a lot of canon-based Olitz, but two of the authors below have stories that do a really good job.

I don’t know AO3 so can’t be helpful there. Some of these authors also put their stuff on there, so if you prefer that interface, you can check the names below.

I’m reading a small list of authors right now (including oldies I’m revisiting) because I’m extremely picky. I read Olitz authors who know how to add tension, but also make me feel safe with how they handle Olitz. Also, I’m an adult and I want to read adult shit. So, I stay in the M-rated content, sometimes T-rated also.
