I remember mentioning my "girls can see ghosts of historical figures" setting here awhile ago, so why not post something related to it again— (if someone is interested, i can drop some kind of lore here 👀👀 )

Rating: Not Cute!
Do not let your pet spooky Napoleon I and spooky Napoleon II hover ominously behind your Napoleon III and its chick. It makes the Napoleon III and chick uncomfortable and frankly, I’m sure there’s more enriching activities for your spooky Napoleons somewhere else.

I went out on a little outing today.
To my surprise, one of the museums where I live had both a bust of Napoleon III and a piece done by David!

Also to my surprise, Thorvaldsen was a lovely looking fellow in his youth!

Insane part of Helene's lore is that there had been rumors at the beginning of 1853 that Napoleon III wanted to marry her? From the Neue Passauer Zeitung:
Tumblr media
From Munich, 13 Jan, one writes to the ‘Fstr. Postztg.’ As several papers from Paris recently reported that the Emperor intended to marry a Bavarian princess, which could only mean the Duchess Helene, the eldest daughter of Duke Max in Bavaria, born on 4 April 1834, it caused quite a stir that this princess danced the first tour, namely the polonaise with the French envoy, at the court ball last night. Whether the above news deserves some credence, however, we will leave for the time being.
About a week later Napoleon announced his engagement to Eugenia de Montijo, so the news indeed didn't deserve much credence after all.

My husband asked me who was Napoleon and Marie Louise's son. I told him it was Napoleon II. He then asked who was Napoleon III's mother. I told him Josephine's daughter. He said, "What a man." And walked away.

Rating: Cute!
This Napoleon is surrounded by chicks! Contrary to Napoleons’ reputations for stoicism, they tend to have a fondness for children. This Napoleon is even cradling a future Napoleon III on its knee, very cute!
