Nandotsava The Nandotsav – Birth ceremony of Lord Shri Krishna Taken from Shrimad Bhagavatam 10th Canto, 5th Chapter, translated by H.D.G. Shrila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. As described in this chapter, Nanda Maharaja very gorgeously performed the birth ceremony for his newborn child. Then he went to Kamsa to pay taxes due and met his intimate friend Vasudeva. There was great jubilation all over Vrindavana due to Krishna’s birth. Everyone was overwhelmed with joy. Therefore the King of Vraja, Maharaja Nanda, wanted to perform the birth ceremony for his child, and this he did. During this great festival, Nanda Maharaja gave in charity to all present whatever they desired. After the festival, Nanda Maharaja put the cowherd men in charge of protecting Gokula, and then he went to Mathura to pay official taxes to Kamsa. In Mathura, Nanda Maharaja met Vasudeva. Nanda Maharaja and Vasudeva were brothers, and Vasudeva praised Nanda Maharaja’s good fortune because he knew that Krishna had accepted Nanda Maharaja as His father. When Vasudeva inquired from Nanda Maharaja about the welfare of the child, Nanda Maharaja informed him all about Vrindavana, and Vasudeva was very much satisfied by this, although he expressed his grief because Devaki’s many children had been killed by Kamsa. Nanda Maharaja consoled Vasudeva by saying that everything happens according to destiny and that one who knows this is not aggrieved. Expecting many disturbances in Gokula, Vasudeva then advised Nanda Maharaja not to wait in Mathura, but to return to Vrindavana as soon as possible. Thus Nanda Maharaja took leave of Vasudeva and returned to Vrindavana with the other cowherd men on their bullock carts. https://sites.google.com/view/sanatan-dharma https://m.facebook.com/HDG.A.C.Bhaktivedanta.Svami.Srila.Prabhupada.Uvaca/ https://www.bhagavad-gita.us/famous-reflections-on-the-bhagavad-gita/ #bhagavatam #srimadbhagavatam #vishnu #vishnupuran #harekrishna #harekrsna #harekrishna #harekrisna #prabhupada #bhagavadgita #bhagavadgitaasitis #bhagavadgītā #srilaprabhupada #srilaprabhupad #srilaprabhupadaquotes #asitis #india #indian #wayoflife #religion #goals #goaloflife #spiritual https://www.instagram.com/p/ChffLlKLQzL/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Criticalness
Krishna is Devaki and Vasudeva's child and his birthday is praised by Hindus as Janmashtami, especially those of the Gaudiya Vaishnavism custom as he is viewed as the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Janmashtami is commended when Krishna is accepted to have been brought into the world as indicated by Hindu convention, which is in Mathura, at 12 PM on the eighth day of Bhadrapada month (covers with August and 3 September in the Gregorian schedule).

Krishna is conceived in a time of confusion. It's when abuse was uncontrolled, opportunities were denied, fiendish was all over the place, and when there was a danger to his life by his uncle King Kansa. Immediately following the birth at Mathura, his dad Vasudeva takes Krishna crosswise over Yamuna, to temporary parents in Gokul, named Nanda and Yashoda. This legend is praised on Janmashtami by individuals keeping quick, singing reverential melodies of adoration for Krishna, and keeping a vigil into the night. After Krishna's 12 PM hour birth, statues of infant Krishna are washed and dressed, at that point set in a support. The lovers at that point break their quick, by sharing sustenance and desserts. Ladies draw little impressions outside their home entryways and kitchen, strolling towards their home, an imagery for Krishna's adventure into their homes.

Krishna Janmashtami (Devanagari कृष्ण जन्माष्टमी Krishna janmaṣṭami), also called Krishnashtami, Saatam Aatham, Gokulashtami, Ashtami Rohini, Srikrishna Jayanti, Sree Jayanti or generally just as Janmashtami, is an annual commemoration of the birth of the Hindu deity Krishna, the eighth avatar of Vishnu. The festival is well known on the eighth day (Ashtami) of the Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight) of the month of Shraavana (August–September) in the Hindu calendar. Rasa Lila, dramatic enactments of the life of Krishna, is a special feature in regions of Mathura and Vrindavan, and regions following Vaishnavism in Manipur. whereas the Rasa Lila recreates the coquettish aspects of Krishna's young days, the Dahi Handi celebrate God's playful and mischievous aspect, wherever groups of young men form human towers to reach a high-hanging pot of butter and break it. This tradition, also called uriadi, maybe a major event in Tamil Nadu on Gokulashtami. Krishna Janmashtami is followed by the festival Nandotsav, which celebrates the occasion once Nanda cake distributed gifts to the community in honor of the birth.
Birth
Krishna was the eighth son of Devaki and Vasudeva. based on scriptural details and astrological calculations, the date of Krishna's birth, called Janmashtami, is 19 July 3228 BCE and he lived until 3102 BCE. Krishna belonged to the Vrishni clan of Yadavas from Mathura and was the eighth son born to the princess Devaki and her husband Vasudeva.
Mathura (in present-day Mathura district, Uttar Pradesh) was the capital of the Yadavas, to which Krishna's parents Vasudeva and Devaki belonged. King Kansa, Devaki's brother, had ascended the throne by imprisoning his father, King Ugrasena. scared of a prophecy that predicted his death at the hands of Devaki's eighth son, Kansa had the couple locked in a prison cell. once Kansa killed the first six kids, and Devaki's apparent miscarriage of the seventh (which was a secret transfer of the infant to Rohini as Balarama), Krishna was born.
Following the birth, Vishnu ordered Vasudeva to take Krishna to Gokul to Nanda and Yashoda, wherever he may live safely, away from his Uncle Kansa. Vasudeva took Krishna with him and crossed the Yamuna to succeed in Gokul. There, everyone was asleep; so he quietly kept him there and returned with Yashoda's daughter. Kansa, thinking her to be Devki's eight children, threw her on a stone. but she rose into the air and transformed into Yogmaya (who is Vishnu's helper) and warned Kansa about his death. Then, she disappeared. Krishna grew up in Gokul together with his brother, Balram. He then came to Mathura and killed Kansa with the help of Balram.

Dahi handi is another event wide celebrated and is vastly popular in the state of Maharashtra. it's based on Krishna’s days when he, along with his friends, would steal Dahi or butter from handis. The person at the highest would break the handi and also the entire buttermilk in it would spill over the entire group. In Goa, the festival is well known with great zeal and enthusiasm in the households as well as in the temple of Devaki Krishna.
