U. Yusuke

He thinks you're very adorable, but he'll never join you in hair and skin care

However, he really enjoys putting on your makeup, even if he often messes up your face

When you come back from the hairdresser with your hair cut or from the beautician with your nails done, he's always playing dumb that doesn't notice anything; however, after seeing you were offended, he compliments you ("I noticed it, (Y/N). You look great.")

Whenever he can, he buys you cute stuffed animals or accessories, such as necklaces and bracelets or rubber bands and hair clips

He also gives you nice clothes if he can buy them for you, and, if you wear them, he'll blush deeply and turn his head away so you can't see his huge blush

K. Kazuma

He's probably the person who accepts you the most

Are you wearing a nice outfit? "You're so cute, (Y/N)!" Have you groomed or cut your hair? "You look great, darling!" Did you wear makeup? "You're so gorgeous! You look great without makeup, but you're beautiful even like that!"

He goes to the game room a lot of times to win stuffed animals for you; when he wins nothing, he sulks all day ("Sorry, I won nothing..." "Kazuma, you don't have to give me a stuffed animal a day, don't worry!")

You two often do skin care together, but don't tell Yusuke this or he'll make fun of Kazuma for life

To give you gifts, he often asks Keiko for advice, as he considers his sister to be one of the least feminine women in existence (Shizuru always gets angry when he points this out to her)

Kurama

He finds it very cute you always get dressed up, but he often tells you you're beautiful, even without accessories or luxurious clothes

He always, always notices when you do something different to your hair, nails or face ("Have you done anything to your hair/nails/face? You're very beautiful, (Y/N).")

Probably, you two do hair care together: you're the only person wh's allowed to care for his hair

When you wear cute clothes, he blushes slightly and looks at you affectionately and meanwhile Youko stirs inside him

He sometimes lets you find cute stuffed animals or accessories on your bed, and then he pretends he didn't put them there ("That? No, I didn't give it to you.")

Hiei

He doesn't understand you: he can't understand why you care yourself so much, and he refuses to join you if you ask him this

Despite this, one day, after seeing his sister getting her hair done by Kazuma (Hiei wanted to kill him), he decided he would do the same to you: so, he combs your hair every morning

For a while, he never gave you accessories or stuffed animals, since he thought they were useless; however, everything changed when, one day, he gave you a hair clip he had found during a mission, and he saw your happiness born from that small gesture

"I found it lying around and I thought only a person like you could wear that horror."

This is what he says every time he gives you something to wear, but it's clear he does it because he loves seeing you smile and seeing you with what he steals buys

Koenma

Like Kazuma, he also compliments you when you change your appearance, changing your hairstyle or wearing different and nice clothes every time

You two do skin treatment together: he always claims your hands have the power to make his skin soft ("Only (Y/N) can touch my face! Only she has magic hands!")

He gives you everything you want: have you seen a nice hairpin? You'll find it in your room. Have you expressed your desire for a dress? It'll be yours immediately

He forces his subordinates to have their hair or make-up done whenever you want poor Jorge

When he can (once a day), he gives you a stuffed animal

YYH live action - disappointments and highlights!

disappointments:

off the bat - it's five episodes and the pacing and storylines are squished, but you just have to accept these limitations and embrace this for what it is - MOVING ON

the music - it was generic and had some weird choices and overall didn't feel very cohesive?

hiei's zoomies - the sound effect when he's going fast is a bit cartoony in a bad way

3 times the cgi was noticeably iffy: genkai's younger face, when yusuke and kurama went into the mirror of forlorn hope, the blooms coming out of karasu

skipping over hiei and kurama's backgrounds - this is what made me think this series is more for yyh fan than anyone else, at the very least i would think there would be some exposition about youko kurama or hiei being a thief

bui - he was flat and really just there for hiei to show off his dragon (which isnt a bad reason! but in comparison to karasu, he didn't have much of a personality, even after taking off his armor)

highlights:

fucking everything i loved it askldjhsdfg

SMILE BOMB!!!!

but really - kuwabara's introduction, yusuke's flying drop kick, it perfectly captured their dynamic

kuwabara in general, he was everything i hoped he'd be

the costuming: while there wasn't as much variety in what yusuke and co. wore, there were lots of details that made everyone's clothes stand out (the chains and lining on kuwabara's uniform, yusuke's cropped uniform top, everything hiei wore to the buckled strap for his sword in the back, kurama's magenta uniform with the gold lining that IS NOT his school uniform but just - something he wears i guess?? which makes it even more insane and i love that)

THE FIGHT SCENES, they put so much effort into each fight and you can tell and it makes the show stand out SO MUCH in comparison to other live action adaptations

the way they, despite having to condense so much of the story, managed to tell a very interesting and entertaining twist to the story without losing too much

hiei and kuwabara arguing - hiei going out of his way to tell kuwabara to get away from yukina <- i'm still laughing

speaking of - THE HUMOR, it was serious! it was funny! it did a great job of balancing out the two

the dynamic of the group is just like in the anime/manga (though we didn't get as much of them interacting as i'd like, we got some and i enjoyed every bit of it!)

karasu. he was creepy. he was gay. his eyeliner was sharp. his attacks looked awesome. his fight lived up to his anime counterpart

the toguro brothers. while we didn't get as much of a lead up, they were perfect. older toguro was straight out of a horror movie. younger toguro managed to be complex and not just a big muscular villain. there was depth to him that felt very authentic.

hiei diving off the tower, i really enjoyed seeing his demonic abilities on display (though where were his fire powers???)

YOUKO KURAMA. i was so worried he'd look terrible in live action but he was just pretty and fluffy and aslkdjhsdfg

hiei and yukina's reunion. awkward. sincere. sweet. sad. the fact that hiei was surprised yukina even spoke to him. i wanna squish the two of them

everyone was beat to hell, their clothes were crunchy and gritty and i like that no one was left 'pristine' like in so many other shows - these boys got nasty

everything honestly just everything i watched the entire five episodes grinning and having a blast

Crimes that Heel Zoro has committed

- Corrupting and manipulating Sanji

- Being a bully and terror to the entire locker room even as a face. Like this guy goes apeshit everyday and beats up bitches back there on a regular basis

- Being a terrible friend who corrupts and hurts all his friends

- Actually being willing to sacrifice Sanji for his own personal motives. Yes Zoro is that evil

- Slept his way to the top. (Yes him fucking the boss’s son counts)

- The no- holds barred beat down he subjects Sanji to. In short anytime he beats the shit out of everyone counts

- Disrespecting Old man Yamato and kicking him down the stairs

- Bashing Judge’s car

- Cracking a whip on his own siblings when they outlived their usefulness

- Locking Imu in a coffin and burning him alive

- Stealing Sakura’s first kiss

- Having sex with his best friend’s dad

- Admitting to using Sanji to further his career at various points of their relationship

- Being a general narcissistic bastard boyfriend and friend who cares more about himself than others

- Getting caught sleeping around with company execs and officials

- His infamous sex celebration after winning his first championship as a heel

- Trying to kill Sanji during one of their matches using the pyro effects equipment and throwing him down through some wires

- Chaining Yusuke to a pole and beating and torturing him

- Coming back after 4 months to seemingly comfort an injured Naruto only for him to attack him and show his true evil colours and also attacks Sanji as well when Sanji tries to stop him

- Admitting to his secret relationship with Judge much to Sanji’s horror

- Setting Kurama up for a date only for it to be yet another one of his evil schemes where he sent his evil cronies to beat up Kurama just so Kurama would dare not challenge him for the title

- Anytime he has the title, he becomes even more of a menace as he tries so hard to hold onto power and that requires the entire roster to take him down. Yes he is the final boss of the locker room

- He bullies the girls and has said some sexist shit to them especially Nami whom he hates for helping Sanji during his initial reign of terror

- Cheats on Sanji a lot and has had a lot of lovers

- He is the true power behind the company, often controlling and manipulating events because he being a control freak

- Gets his parents arrested by planting cocaine in their car and some firearms

- Attacks multiple legends and veterans

- Gets Gojo tied to a chair and beats him till he is unconscious

- Locks Ichigo in a freezer room

- Steals Brook’s clothes and burns them

- Choke slams Chopper off a ladder

- Super kicks Eren into a glass window

- Knocks Goku out with a fire extinguisher

- Poisons Judge Vinsmoke

- Despite getting his comeuppance, this guy continues to annoy everyone

Looking for a roommate

3 am to 5 am was usually a period when time passes more tediously, as most people are either already asleep or stuck at work on a nightshift, probably trying to overcome their physiological need to rest as they must take care of the different tasks they're given. Sadly, Naruto considered himself one the second kind, only with the lack of tasks as this late there was almost never any customer at the small diner he was working at - leaving him completely and utterly bored. He even swiped the counter, before surrendering to his phone - checking all kinds of social media and getting to see the same posts all over again, after all, almost everyone he knew was already asleep.

The blonde sighed, he was already regretting his decision to get this stupid job. But the bills had been stacking up ever since his roommate had moved, leaving him and Kurama behind in that large apartment. And since no one wanted to hire a cat, it had become Naruto's job to provide enough extra money, so they wouldn’t have to leave, at least until a new roommate was found. Which was a hard enough task already since said cat didn't like almost everyone, making it even harder for Naruto to find someone split the rent with.

Being so lost in thought Naruto almost didn't notice the bell, the sudden sound making him flinch. He let go of his phone, watching in horror as it slammed onto the ground with a loud crack.

"Shit-" he cursed, quickly crouching down to assess the damage. In moments like these Naruto was eternally grateful for his foresight and the decision to buy a good cell phone case, one that would be able to counter his clumsiness. Luckily, it didn’t break.

He stood up again, suddenly coming face to face with a dark-haired man, who was curiously looking at him from the other side of the counter. Naruto blinked. Not only did it seem so unlikely for anyone to come here at this late hour, but this dark haired must have been one of the most beautiful people Naruto had ever seen. His eyes were two black dots, all-consuming like dark holes pulling Naruto in almost immediately. Gorgeous ebony skin contrasted his black hair and eyes, making him seem somehow ethereal, completely out of this world.

"Can I have a coffee?"

Naruto blinked at him.

It took 1...2...3 seconds for him to register it, to realize that the man had just ordered something and he -the barista- had to attend to him.

"Of course!" Naruto suddenly chirped happily -too loud- ; the earlier accident seemingly forgotten as he tried to be as nice as possible to his only customer. The other man gave him a confused look, before moving a bit to the side and taking a seat barely two feet away from Naruto.

"Do you want any syrup in that coffee? We have coconut, vanilla, moch-"

"Just black coffee." The dark haired interrupted him. Naruto couldn't help but to raise an eyebrow. Who even drinks coffee at 3 am, moreover black coffee. The other man didn't seem to be on his way to work, his clothes were casual and judging by the way he seemed to get comfortable he didn't seem to plan on leaving anytime soon.

Naruto didn't mind, at least now he had something to do to keep himself awake. Maybe they could even have a nice conversation. Yeah, that would be a great idea.

The blonde started the only way he knew how to, "What's your name?"

Now it was the other man's time to raise an eyebrow at him.

"…to write it on your cup.", Naruto clarified.

"Why?", the other asked, taking a quick look around. "It's not as if you could mix up my coffee, I'm the only one here."

The blonde frowned, this was a regular thing, at least for the people buying a coffee to go. But before he could justify his action the other spoke up again.

"Sasuke."

His dark eyes were pulling Naruto in again, keeping him fixed on him.

Naruto nearly forgot breathing. He didn’t understand any of this, what was up with him all of a sudden.

He quicky spun around trying to distract himself by starting to make Sasuke's coffee, hoping the other wouldn’t notice the hint of a blush forming on his cheeks. Why did he even react like that, Sasuke just answered his question, telling him his name – nothing more. Clumsily he scribbled it onto the plastic cup. When he was done, Naruto bit his lip, watching the black liquid flow and quickly filling the small cup – leaving a puff of steam in its trail. Order done.

Now he just had to act normal. No big deal.

“Sasuke..do you maybe want any sugar?”, with the cup in hand Naruto turned around, eyes widening as he barely managed to catch a glimpse of the other, trying to erase the small trail of a tear with his sleeve. “Are you alright?”, Naruto wanted to mentally slap himself, of course he’s not alright – he wouldn’t have nearly started crying if everything was alright. Moreover, it wouldn’t happen in company of a stranger in the middle of the night at a random diner.

The dark-haired watched him for a moment, seemingly unsure of how to react at being caught like that. Eventually, Sasuke cleared his throat, averting his eyes as he finally gave an answer. “It’s nothing. I got some dust in my eye.” Ignoring Naruto, he opened his bag, scrabbling until he found money – holding it out. “Here you go. Thanks for the coffee.”

“You’re welcome.” He couldn’t stop frowning though. Somehow, Naruto just couldn’t let it go. It shouldn’t concern him, he knew that, yet something about seeing Sasuke like that had unsettled him, almost as if Sasuke’s pain just now had been his own. Even with the chance of overstepping boundaries and maybe even getting the diner a bad review due to unnecessarily curios baristas he just couldn’t stop himself from questioning the other once more. “You..could talk about it if you want.”

Sasuke just raised an eyebrow at him. “What?”

“You seemed quite troubled just now. So, if you’d like to have someone to talk to, I just wanted to offer it.”

“Don’t you have any work to do?”, Sasuke frowned.

“Well,” Naruto let out a small laugh, “as you noticed earlier, you’re the only one here so I can’t mix up any coffee orders while listening to you.” He shrugged, “So my offer stands. Don’t be so grumpy about it.”

Sasuke remained quiet, his initial surprise turning into a thoughtful expression – his dark eyes fixed on Naruto, seeming to study him, deciding if he would be trustworthy. Naruto couldn’t help but hope he would be. The blonde couldn’t quite understand why it even mattered that much. Of course, it had been boring before Sasuke had arrived – and maybe part of him didn’t want the other man to just leave, rather than keep staying and even talking to Naruto, keeping him company – keeping the loneliness away. But that wasn’t the true reason. Even though Naruto didn’t understand where this particular feeling came from, he felt it – the primal need to know what the problem was so that he could lift that weight of Sasuke’s shoulder. There was a connection between them. A connection he couldn’t quite explain.

Somehow, Sasuke seemed to feel it too. The dark-haired let out a sigh, “It’s really not that much of a big deal.” He raised his arm to cup his chin in his hand, trying to seem as indifferent as possible while talking. “I had a fight with my brother. It seems that I finally crossed a line.” His dark eyes wandered, focusing on the coffee in front of him, careful to avoid Naruto’s at all costs. “He..he just kicked me out.” Before Naruto could answer anything though Sasuke quickly continued, “No, no. It’s all good. I just got a text message from him saying that he’s sorry.” Eyes back to his coffee. “He just told me that he didn’t mean it. I guess it took me by surprise´, that’s all.” Finally, he slowly raised his gaze again, “I… I guess I didn’t expect him to take it back after our fight. Not after what I said to him.”

Naruto blinked at him. It was strange.

The turmoil has settled. Sasuke was alright. Naruto let out a breath he didn’t even realize he was holding – feeling relief. What a strange night.

“So..”, Naruto gave him a small smile, “happy tears?”

Sasuke’s pout couldn’t be described as anything less than adorable. “I didn’t cry.”

“Sure not.” Naruto winked. Now that he knew everything was alright, it was kind of fun to tease the other a little, to lift the mood some more.

“I already regret talking to you.” Sasuke shook his head, yet there was no real bite to it, Naruto noticed, as the other couldn’t quite hold back a small smile of his own.

“Hey..I wanted to cheer you up.”

“Usuratonkachi.”

“What?”

“Nothing.”

“How did you just call me?”

“For someone asking random people to share their life stories you’re a pretty shitty listener if you can’t even catch a nickname.”

“Oi-“

For the first time since Naruto had started working there, he dreaded 6 AM, knowing exactly that other customers would start showing up around then – interrupting his talk with Sasuke. Their light teasing had quickly morphed, transforming into a real conversation – one where time had been easily forgotten.

The bell rang as the door opened once more, a businessman stepping inside – probably looking for a quick coffee and sandwich before work. Naruto let out a quiet sigh – he needed to get to work again.

“It has gotten quite late.”

“Or early.”, Naruto quipped.

“Or early.”, Sasuke rolled his eyes with a smile on his lips. “I think it’s time for me to go back home. Itachi is probably freaking out by now. Thinking that I hate him or something stupid like that, after ignoring him for so long now.”

“Probably.” The blonde let out a laugh. “You should have answered him. I’m sorry that I distracted you for so long.”

There was a moment, a small frame of time filled with nothing but silence, when their eyes met, barely able to part again.

“When is your next shift, Naruto?” Sasuke asked, slowly getting up from the chair, grabbing his jacket. The other man was already waiting, keeping his distance from the two of them.

“In two days.” Naruto answered, “Will you come back? Do you expect Itachi to kick you out again by then?” He couldn’t help being a tease, not with Sasuke.

“Usuratonkachi.”, Sasuke rolled his eyes, clearly amused by Naruto’s antics, “I don’t need such a dramatic reason to get another coffee here.” He took a step back, “I’ll see you then.”

“Ok, I’ll wait for you then. Good night, Sasuke.” The blonde gave him a lopsided grin, “By the way, even if he does kick you out, I’m happy to inform you that I’m currently looking for a roommate.”

Sasuke let out an amused huff, “You wish.” He turned around then, making his way to the door. “See you then, Naruto.”

“Bye, Sasuke.”

Live action Yu Yu Hakusho liveblog: ep 1

This is so much fun. Nostalgia time. 13 year old me is LIVING

Warning for like whole ep 1 spoilers and all

Yusuke and Botan look great which I already knew going in from the gifset that informed me this show exists lol, but it's delightful, bc the characters in this show aren't necessarily the easiest to translate to live action

Botan is adorable. Her hair is adorable. And I'm delighted to see that Yusuke's hair is the Correct amount of Poufy

Plot twist: Kuwabara hot. He looks great actually. Translated nonliterally compared to Yusuke but v well. The actor is selling me on it too, fun casting

Kuwabara was always hard for me to watch in the original bc he set off my vicarious embarrassment soo hard. Glad they're less committed to making him the constant source of painful comedic relief here lol

KOENMA PACIFIER REVEAL I LOVE IT

Laughed out loud for real tbh

Idk if I'm a little disappointed he's not a baby but like live action would make that ridic hard to do in a lot of ways so I don't blame them at all. He's in his adult form which makes sense. Still damn glad they kept the pacifier it is RUINING his dignity and I love it

I also don't blame them for cutting the flying oar effects. A lil sad but the initial transition to Reikai looked great so they're forgiven

Yusuke. "No thanks." I knew it was coming and the delivery still made me laugh out loud. Just dropped it in there. Yusuke I love you please see a therapist

Fight scenes are v creative and p epic

Seriously they do a really good job of making Yusuke's fighting style as a human believable, fun to watch, and effective. He rly does come off as just kind of a natural fighting genius (with practice ofc)

Sakyo in ep 1? Weird but I'm not opposed. The wavy hair is kinda freaking me out though ngl. Smoothness was just such his THING in the show it's distracting

Really liked Yusuke's mom's introduction (not that it was flattering to her as a character) but I wish they'd done more with her in the rest of the ep. Her power hug at the end is great tho

Show's slowing down a bit but it's fine I'm still having fun, the nostalgia power will get me through basically whatever

NO PUU!!!! This is tragic but I Do understand this as an adaptation choice. Reluctantly. Tragic tho.

Bug under guy's face effect EPICALLY creepy

That said I keep watching the motion of him and the other demons in this ep and thinking about Hayao Miyazaki said about the disgusting cruelty of using effects technology to make the scary scary inhuman monsters just fucking. look and move like disabled ppl

Seriously I keep seeing flashes of the appearance and movements of people I know with developmental disabilities (particularly this one guy I know with cerebral palsy but also I've worked in care work for disabled adults and just kind of a lot of people in general) and. I hate this. Especially as a person who DOES have a (nonvisible) developmental disability myself. This is such a rising trend in horror/sff/fantasy tv/movies/video games and I hate everything about it. Hayao Miyazaki was right this kind of attitude and shit really is "an insult to life itself"

Anyway fight scene cool

I love Keiko btw. Her crying and blaming herself! Her face when Yusuke comes back! Also Yusuke "I'm not gonna die just bc you talked shit" pffft jackass (affectionate)

DEMON CREW CAMEO AT THE END

Kurama looks pretty good. Goki actually looks wayyyy better than he did in the anime imho, which I did not see coming.

Effects on Kurama and Hiei's fighting looks surprisingly great. They pulled off the rose whip way better than I thought they would, and did some great wirework with Hiei's speed and fighting style

That said....Hiei...oof. That hair was always gonna be a Challenge but I think their ambition here did uh. not play off rip. Hopefully it'll look better later on
