Sweet, soft, physically frail Kanade... It's easy to see why one would be afraid of making her uncomfortable or giving her wrong impressions, especially with things such as romance.

She doesn't notice at first, simply assuming that you're nervous and that maybe you just need a bit more time! Overtime though, it starts becoming clear to her that you're not doing so good.

She tries to open up the topic, but since she's so sweet it's easy for you to shut it down before it gets too deep. Every attempt of hers gets farther than the last though, especially with her accidentally making you feel bad, so you gave in.

"Ah! Nonono, I didn't mean for that to b-be the case at all... You shouldn't be afraid of hurting me, please. I can take it, if I know it was in an attempt to love me. I just want you to try... Try for me, for our relationship. Only then will it feel more comforting, like romance is supposed to be."

She can't help much since she struggles a bit with some forms of affection, but she still manages to ease your worries by showing you hers, and letting you know that you can do it as well if you try!

Her gentle voice puts you at ease whenever you make an effort to return those actions, and she couldn't be prouder that she's helping someone like you to change! And that also means extra inspiration, of course.

Mafuyu Asahina

Probably the most intimidating character of the gang of 20, it's easy to see why being in a relationship with Mafuyu would be intimidated. However, that's not at all what she wants of you!

She's always been incredibly perceptive, so she can tell that you're holding back when you two are together! This does confuse her, as she had believed that the relationship was made for the opposite reason...

Her approach to the problem is incredibly blunt. She pushes the topic with brute force, unbeknownst to the fact that you're struggling with the topic at first. She does let you speak your mind when you're ready though.

"Hm... I never thought that showing affection was so hard, even when you were perfectly aware of your emotions. However, you do know the problem, and you should attempt to overcome it. If you don't, then it's not going to change, is it?"

She doesn't know how to help you, since she struggles to understand what you're feeling, but she does a good job letting you try out different ways of showing affection! Just try not to let her coldness get to you...

Eventually, she starts helping you understand that this fear is just an illusion that's stopping you from enjoying the relationship, and that you can easily overcome it when you really try! (Now if only she could use this advice for herself...)

Ena Shinonome

Ena usually dislikes it whenever someone hides their real feelings, however, she understands when it's painful to speak of them, or act accordingly! She treats a friend like this, after all.

She notices easily when you seem to be holding back with your signs of love, even though you're both in a relationship already! It does frustrate her, but she never lashes out at you. At least, not violently.

There will be a confrontation eventually, as the artist needs to get everything straight before she starts assuming, and so she simply seeks a reason to your actions, avoiding judging you for them.

"Ah... Yeah, I definitely get it. It's scary to think about it, I know, but you don't have to let your fear control you! I know I can be impatient and even temperamental, but I do truly love you! We are a couple, we accept each other's faults, problems, and errors as well!"

She helps you out, showing you how to show affection, gently asking for it from time to time until you get used to giving it without prompting, and constant reassurance that you're doing well!

And if you mess up, she not only helps you move on, she teaches you how to do better next time once the fear and paranoia passes, and not make that same mistake ever again.

Mizuki Akiyama

Even before you were romantically engaged, Mizuki's presence has always been sort of imposing, with their teasing, and light-heartedness, along with their mature nature.

They're also quite perceptive, so they easily notice how you've been overcome by fear and uncertainty. And just as fast as they notice, they take action. After all, they would hate it if this relationship was straining on you!

Their attempt to corner you into a confrontation is very subtle and tricky, making it hard to see through until the topic arises, and they refuse to let it drop. Especially since they're so good at getting you to open up.

"I see, so you were getting pressured by this romance, huh? Well, I'm not really going to judge you. Why would I? I was the one that was pressured before it was official, remember? No one knows how you feel right now better than me, so you understand when I say that you should relax, right? Because it's the same thing that worked for me!"

It isn't a lie, as the seamstress's fears of getting abandoned by the people they consider closest to them is strongest when speaking about romantic relationships, but just as they try their best, they inspire you to do the same!

Soon enough, their growing comfort with making soft affectionate advances on you will also help you with your fears! Because if they can do it, you can as well!

hi I'm normal about the new niigo event cards

spoilers for the newest event on JP. eng translation is "saying goodbye to my masked self" but it sounds like one of those awkward eng translations. I just saw the cards and went a little bit nuts because there is so. much. symbolism and callback to other events and cards.

the first very obvious connection is with the cards from the imprisoned marionette event. it's nightcord's first event and it's where we really get it set up that mafuyu's sitaution with her mom is a problem.

mafuyu feels like a marionette, the strings controlling her being her mother and the pressure she feels at school and home, and the mask being hiding her emotions and pretending to handle it.

so yknow with this event's card- the cut strings, the scissors, the broken mask. she's breaking her mom's control, she is "saying goodbye to her masked self". I find it interesting that it looks like not all the strings are cut- it may just be a stylistic choice by the illustrator though.

going further into reading too deeply into things the cards for the rest of niigo are also pretty straightforward with the string thing too. but I find it interesting that in mizuki's card, all the strings are hanging loose, in ena's card she's pulling against the strings, and in kanade's card, the strings all appear to still be tight and she's huddled up in the middle.

I think it maybe represents their different relationships to control. mizuki has always been about being yourself and not being controlled, and has lightly encouraged that in mafuyu or with their personality, at least kept the door open for mafuyu- they never really push.

Ena pushes back against control a lot- she outright lies to mafuyu's mom in "Someday, this wish will transcend the morning sky" so mafuyu can stay at her house. So I think it makes sense that she's directly pulling on the "strings of control".

Kanade never really directly challenges mafuyu's mother until "Immiscible discord". She prefers to focus just on mafuyu, and is kind of tunnel-vision about songwriting and helping mafuyu, so she's not touching the strings at all and is instead focused on the crystal/heart/apple.

(ok I wrote these next slides for a friend discord server so these are a bit more discombobulated)

so apples and heart-shaped apples are pretty significant at points in niigo's story. they appear most prominently in the "Mirage of lights" event when mafuyu get sick and recalls a similar time from her childhood. the memory of eating apple cut up for her by her mom (and later, kanade) is tied to a warm feeling- and it being tied to a feeling, at all, is pretty significant for mafuyu. and the heart shape I think makes it pretty clear- apples are tied to mafuyu's feelings, or her "heart". then there's also a brief reference in the lyrics of samsa and the art for the song as well which I feel like further solidifies it.

Ok so also the hearts are made out of crystals or have a crystalline look to them and that along with the poses and lighting they're in reminds me of the cards from "Someday, from the depths of despair". Given the fact that the event is about reminiscing on how they all met and the connection and friendship they now share with each other, and the lyrics to Tricologe, specifically "a little chipped pink opal/a lost lolite/a topaz covered in dust/and a lonely ametrine" (although idk how official that translation is) I think the gemstones symbolize themselves, and the memories and feelings they have for each other aka friendship.

I also think it's interesting that for mafuyu's card in that event she doesn't have a fully formed crystal like mizuki and ena do because she still struggles with finding a sense of self and experiencing/identifying her feelings.

But yeah so the crystals/hearts/apples in this event's card symbolize mafuyu, her feelings, their friendship with her, that whole package. So think the rest of the girl's cards are showing them reaching out to mafuyu and supporting them in the ways that they know.

Anyway that's just what I think, it might be inaccurate I don't speak japanese or live in japan so I don't have direct access to things in the JP sekai server or the non-translated meanings of song lyrics, event dialogues, etc. I'm just excited about my blorbos. Mafuyu's story brings me to tears every time she has a focus event istg her story is dear to me and this is the ultimate culmination of all the growth I get super sappy over.

This is event is obviously a very big step that's been built up to since nightcord's first event/main story and I love how the imagery in the cards ties back to repeating themes, other events, and the beginning of it all. It's really the icing on the cake.

ive talked like a litttle bit about this but not ENOUGH. (plus i cant even find my posts talking about this lol)

1000% without a doubt, kusuos fav group is niigo... he kins literally all four of them but especially kanade and mafuyu (also kinda kins nene and honami but u wouldnt hear that from him) but his FAVORITE character is mizuki.. i cant explain it, im just right.. his whole profile and all that is extremely niigo heavy, but wxs is actually a close second favorite for him lol.. rui reminds him too much of his brother though so he kinda tries to avoid it but. i honestly think he would take comfort in it after a while. in the same way he takes comfort in mafuyus stories because he relates a lot, but it also kinda makes him feel sick. also ive talked abt this on other posts like the smash bros mains post, but in classic average guy fashion, kusuo mostly picks characters that look like him to like, so he just usually picks pink characters.. so along with mostly caring about niigo, he also really likes and always pulls for specifically mizuki, airi, emu, saki, and luka.. lol.. hes also a thumb player but u did NOT hear that from me..

7 (thing this fandom does with this character that you like) - as individuals. I love it when people have mizuki do/say absolutely deranged things. "I sleep with socks on but only on one foot" or the hc that because she's sensitive to hot food she'll eat cold fries. I love this for her I think she deserves to be weird as fuck. it's healing in a way I like the idea that she gets to be comfortable around people and starts getting sillay. be yourself!! let loose!! im so serious I want her to do this so bad it makes me so happy!! Recollection

For day 5 of Kanamafu week; prompt is Comfort

Kanade attempts to recall a song from a time long gone while Mafuyu listens.

Low, soft strumming sounds drifted through the Sekai as Kanade sat cross-legged on the floor amidst a pile of music sheets scattered around her. She was leaning against one of the steel girders that comprises much of the environment in this gray, desolate world, completely focused on the guitar that was laid out across her lap.

Every instrument functions best when properly maintained, and she knew that this one especially needed it the most. She felt at ease with the activity, plucking its strings every now and then, taking her time in twisting the tuning pegs to correct any out-of-tune chords. All it needed was some slight tweaks in the two remaining strings on the topmost pegs, and then she could start playing. 

So immersed was she in her task, that she had not yet realized that she had a visitor nearby.

“Kanade?” 

Mafuyu was standing right next to her, regarding the composer curiously. When Kanade still hadn’t noticed her, she called her name once more—louder this time—and it seemed to do the trick. Kanade jerked back in surprise, making her hand abruptly brush off the strings a little too hard, accidentally creating a loud, off-key tune that made both of them wince a little. 

“M-Mafuyu, you came,” she sputtered, finally glancing up as she rubbed her neck sheepishly. “You surprised me. I didn’t notice you arrived just now.” 

“Sorry,” Mafuyu replied in her usual blank tone, but Kanade already knew her well enough to know that she was sincere about it. “But you didn’t seem to hear me when I called out to you once.”

“Then I should apologize as well, since I was busy tuning this,” Kanade said, running her fingers against the neck of her guitar. “Have you been here for long? You’re quite early today.”

Mafuyu shook her head. “Cram school finished early so I thought I would stay here for a while. I only just arrived when I spotted you nearby.” Her gaze lingered down to the instrument that Kanade was holding. It was a simple brown acoustic guitar; battered with age but was not badly damaged, and looked like it would still play well despite it.

“Didn’t you use one for the song you recently made for me? The one you have right now looks kind of…” Neglected and unused, she wanted to say, but instead just opted for, “Worn.”

“I did, but I composed that one using my own,” Kanade responded in turn. One last tweak and… there. It should now play on-tune now. She gave the strings another quick strum just to make sure. Perfect. The instrument now felt right in her hands. A wistful smile crept on her face and her voice grew somber. “This was my father’s. I stumbled upon it when I was searching for something in my room, and I thought that I’d fix it.”

When was the last time she held this, let alone played it? It feels so long ago since she hadn’t really touched this instrument at all ever since her father’s accident, due to the memories that associated with it, memories that she had buried deep within her subconsciousness to the point of forgetting about it. If it wasn't for Mizuki’s help, it would have stayed that way.

She could now remember it so clearly, recalling how she used to constantly nag her father to teach her how to play back then, even though her tiny little hands couldn’t even grasp the neck of the guitar, much less strum the chords by herself. 

Mom used to smile at our antics back then...

Kanade closed her eyes. Those times with her family were long gone, and despite the yearning to go back to the past where she was happy with her parents, not worrying about the sickness that took her mother away from them far too soon, and her father not even recognizing her on the rare occasion she managed to catch him awake during her hospital visits, she knows that she cannot bring them back. 

Nothing remains left but lingering memories of what once was…

“Kanade? Are you alright?” 

Mafuyu’s voice cracked like a whip that broke through her thoughts and brought her back to reality. Kanade met the lyricist’s gaze boring into her, and while her expression remained unchanged, she could see hints of concern in those deep-purple eyes.

I must have made her worried…

“Yes, I’m fine,” she said, giving Mafuyu a reassuring smile. “I’m just reminiscing. It’s been a long time since…”

The nostalgia for the past does seem to weigh her down, and she could feel her heart throbbing painfully at the thought of the memory, piercing and stabbing her like thorns, but Kanade didn’t try to push away the feeling. She welcomed it, because along with the pain comes a sense of warmth surging through her, which somehow eased the loss and sadness. 

“It must’ve been important to you, if you took the time to fix that…” Mafuyu said, sitting down beside her.

“It is. So many memories have been made from this,” Kanade said softly as she gently fiddled with the guitar, getting a feel for the instrument by playing some random melody from one of her past songs. “Do you remember when I told you before about the song that my dad made for me and my mom? The one that made us smile back then?” she asked and Mafuyu nodded. “I was just trying to see if I could still recall that one.”

“Is it for a new song, then?” The lyricist knew that Kanade would do anything to get her creative juices flowing so that she could keep on composing. Whether it be reading books or watching movies and anime that Mizuki would sometimes recommend to them, or going on a mystery tour or to Phoenix Wonderland despite her fear of the supernatural and not being good at crowds and the sunlight. This is no exception, if that was the case.

The composer stopped playing, biting her lower lip in thought for a moment before answering. “Well… not exactly. While it did cross my mind that perhaps I could get some inspiration out of it, I guess the main reason why I brought my dad’s old instrument out is because… I missed it.” An ache had begun to creep into her voice. “He used to let me borrow this until he bought me my own, and he would teach me how to play…”

There it is again… Seeing her expression softened to one of melancholy once more stirred something in Mafuyu’s chest, and not in a good way. Kanade looked so lost right now, dragged down by something, and it made her feel uncomfortable.

And while she may not understand it completely, she knows that there is one thing that she can do.

Kanade was lost in her own thoughts when she felt something heavy on her side. Turning around, she finds Mafuyu leaning against her, head resting on her shoulder. She doesn't say anything, but her thin, long hand reaches out for her own, intertwining their fingers and giving it a gentle squeeze.

It must have been Mafuyu’s own way of comforting her, and for that, Kanade was grateful for her presence and this simple gesture.

It felt so warm.

“Hey, Kanade?” Mafuyu glanced at her, breaking the silence.

“Hmm?”

“Do you mind if I stay here and listen to you play?”

She blinked for a moment, then smiled softly, pleased to see that Mafuyu’s showing interest. “Of course you can, Mafuyu. You’re more than welcome to. I don’t mind having an audience, otherwise I wouldn’t be here in the first place, since Miku and the others will still be able to hear this song anyway. Let me just prepare for a second.”

“Alright.” Mafuyu didn’t want to leave their already comfortable position, but she relented, as Kanade needed to focus and play properly.

Shifting into a position so that she was now facing Mafuyu, Kanade closed her eyes for a moment, and began to strum.

May my song reach Mafuyu’s growing feelings.

It was definitely not the song that her father played back then. The first few notes were still familiar to her, as Kanade could still remember them vividly, and maybe even some parts in the middle of it. But how could she integrate those parts if she could not recall the rest of it? It wasn’t the whole piece, she was certain of that. And even if she did manage to, she doesn’t think that she could even try to recreate it perfectly. She already knew that before starting to play, since it was her father’s song, after all.

That does not deter her, however. Using the foundations of the parts that she can recall of her father’s song, she then instead began to incorporate her own style into it. She let her own music guide her through, improvising as she went on playing. All the while thinking of her own family and the warm memories that they had once shared. Letting herself get lost in them and reliving the past made her glad that she remembered. She wanted to remember. These are the moments that she will treasure in her heart for as long as she lives.

It became a bit more somber in tune as a result, but she was pouring her own feelings into it while still making sure to retain the warmth from the original song.

Halfway through her performance, as her fingers danced over the strings to give shape to the notes forming in her mind, her thoughts now wandered to the girl in front of her. She took a passing glance at Mafuyu, who just sat there in silence, listening intently, transfixed by her song.

If her father once dedicated his own song to his own wife and daughter, then Kanade too will do the same. Only that, she will also dedicate this arrangement to one more person that became important to her life, so that one day she could smile and laugh just like her family did.

To Mafuyu.

She’s glad that she was here and could share this personal moment with her. She could only hope that Mafuyu would feel the same as well. 

The last notes rang throughout the empty world. Kanade let out a sigh of content as she stopped playing, the memories fading away with the music.

“How was it?” She looked up from the guitar and turned expectantly to Mafuyu. “It’s not exactly the actual song that my dad used to play but I just added my own touch to it, and…” She stopped when she saw the other girl frozen in place, her expression stunned and her left hand clutching her chest.

“Mafuyu?” Kanade placed her father’s instrument on the side and went to her, eyebrows creasing in concern. “Is something wrong? What did you-”

She was interrupted mid sentence when she felt herself being pulled closer into an embrace, arms wrapping around her body, startling her enough that she uttered a quiet yelp.

“M-Mafuyu, what-”

“So warm…” She heard the other girl say, her voice barely above a whisper.

Kanade was caught off guard, not sure if Mafuyu was referring to the song or to herself, but she eventually returned the hug, rubbing her hand on her back in gentle motions.

They stayed like that for a moment.

“How was it?” Kanade repeated her question, pulling away from the hug. “From the way you suddenly embraced me, I take it that you liked the song?”

The slight curve in her mouth and the clear light in those purple eyes present on Mafuyu’s face told her everything she needed to know.

“I’m not sure if I can convey it properly, but…” Mafuyu paused for a moment, struggling to find the words to describe the feelings she just felt.

“Go on,” Kanade encouraged, ever so patiently.

“You told me once about your father’s song before, but there’s a difference between telling and actually listening to it. Finally getting to hear it, and remembering what you said about wanting me to smile like you did... something welled up inside my chest. It felt so warm. 

“All I’m saying is…I think I liked it. I see now why your dad made that song for you and your mom. Thank you for sharing such warmth with me, Kanade."

Hearing her genuine compliment, Kanade’s heart softened, and could not hold back the little smile forming from her lips.

She’s slowly starting to feel some emotions again. She’s improving a lot, and that’s great for her.  

“Thank you too, Mafuyu. I’m glad you liked it.”

Maybe I really am saving her… I am a few steps closer. Thank you… dad.

“Will you use this one for our next song?” Mafuyu asked after a while. She was once again resting her head on Kanade’s shoulder. 

The composer hummed in thought, then shook her head. “Maybe I’ll reuse some parts of it, but no, I think I’ll keep this one to ourselves. Why do you ask?”

The idea of Kanade sharing such a personal song to her made her chest feel fuzzy, and while she does not know the reason why, she did not dislike the feeling.

“I see. I just feel like… there’s something quite missing.”

“Oh?” Kanade met her eyes and tilted her head questioningly. “You think I should change something? I’m all ears.” 

“That’s not it,” Mafuyu said. ”Your new music is fine as it is; no need to change anything since it was from your own feelings. It’s just that… I think that I want to respond to them. Like how you once did with mine.”

Kanade’s eyes widened in surprise.

You don’t mean…

But she already knew what was coming. Warmth tingled through her when she saw Mafuyu reaching out for one of the blank music sheets nearby and took out a pen from her school cardigan's pocket.

“Can I write the lyrics for your song?”

a/n: short idea I came up with a few months ago, enjoy :)

Ena dreams of a familiar stranger with pink hair and a blue jumper every night. Why does the sight of them make her feel so sad?

Ena has been having strange dreams lately.

She dreams of a mysterious yet familiar person with pink hair and a red bow. However, before Ena could see the person's face, she woke up.

Ena groans in frustration. Just who is this mysterious person??? And why do they keep appearing in her dreams every night without fail??? It's pissing her off.

She looks at the clock. Akito is almost done with school, so that means it's time for her to get ready for her nighttime classes. She instantly becomes even more pissed and gets up from her bed.

It's currently 1 am, so Ena gets online on nightcord.

"Enanan, could you edit the new mv this time?" Kanade asks.

"Oh, sure!" Ena replies. They've been rotating turns to edit mvs since they haven't been able to find a permanent editor. The last one they had lost interest and never came back.

Ugh, why did they have to leave? Their videos were really good...

While looking for some inspiration for the video, Ena tries to find the video that the former editor did. They were really skilled, so maybe Ena could learn a few tips...

As she watched and inspected the videos closely, she noticed the upload date. Seven months ago... how strange. Ena clearly remembers that niigo has been editing videos by themselves since the editor left... but they've only been editing themselves for 3 months.

At least, Ena thinks she clearly remembers it.

"Here's the final piece!" Ena presents a finished piece of artwork to the rest of niigo.

"It's very nice." Kanade applauds.

"It's okay." Mafuyu responds in her typical blunt manner.

"It's okay?JUST okay?!! I spent hours on this, so the least you could do is put a little more sincerity in your response!!!" Ena flares up suddenly.

"Well, maybe you could add a little more colors. Like light blue and pink.”

Something pops up in Ena’s head. The color combination... is awfully familiar. But why is that?

Was it that strange person in her dreams? come to think of it, she thinks they were wearing a blue skirt..

"...Ena?" Kanade calls out.

"Sorry, i'll think about it," Ena says. "I'm going to sleep early tonight. Good night!”

Ena promptly logs off nightcord. She grabs her sketchbook and a pencil. Maybe she will remember this person if she draws them.

Ena screams with fustration. All she had was the back profile of this person. Pink hair in a side ponytail tied with a red ribbon. A blue skirt and white shirt. But that’s it. No face.

Ena gives up and decides to turn in for the night, for real this time.

“Enanan!” she hears a distant voice call to her. She opens her eyes.

“Come on Enanan, or we’re going to miss the train!”

The train? Ena hasn’t been on a train in a while. In fact, she hasn’t been able to step into a train station without feeling sick. When did she even start feeling that way?

Ena focuses on the person instead, but they grab her hand and drag her to the train station. This person… had pink hair and a red bow! This was the person Ena was looking for!

But for some reason, she couldn’t get a clear look of their face. Suddenly, the scene changed around her. Well, I guess it IS just a dream…

Ena now stands under pink cherry blossoms, softly glowing in the warm sunset. The sight sends a pang through her chest. Waves of nostalgia and sadness overcome her. It makes her feel like she’s missing something, or rather, someone.

“Isn’t it beautiful, Ena? I thought you would’ve forgotten them after all this time.”

Ena turns to the person. Pink hair, white shirt, blue skirt… and pink eyes. Their reminded her of shimmering pink opals.

“Forgotten?” Ena scoffs. “There’s no way I would’ve forgotten something as… as beautiful as this.”

The person chuckles. The sound of their melodic laughter sends butterflies to Ena’s stomach.

“Well, you did. We haven’t been here in a while.”

…we?

The mysterious person sees the flash of confusion flicker on Ena’s face. Sadness darkens their eyes. “Well, I guess you’ve really forgotten everything, huh?”

For once, Ena is unable to speak. She doesn’t know what to say.

This person obviously knows Ena. But Ena doesn’t know them. Yet, a familiar feeling tugs at her heartstrings.

They smile sadly. “I can’t really tell you everything because you’ll forget anyway. But I…”

Their words are lost and are muffled suddenly.

“Wait! Who are you?! What did you say?!” Ena yelled. But the only image she was left with was that mysterious person’s smile with a sorrowful expression in their eyes.

Ena wakes up immediately and gets out of bed. Quickly, she gathers her paints and brushes and scrambles for a blank canvas.

She sets up her easel and gets to work. Her hand moves on its own as she sketches the mysterious person, as if she had done it hundreds of times before. Everything came to her naturally as she continued to paint.

Ena finally sits back. She looks at the clock. It read 7 AM. Damn.

How long has she been painting for? The sky was still dark when she started, but now the sun slowly started to rise from its slumber.

The artist worked tirelessly to paint the fading image from her dreams. She worked and worked without stopping to rest. But now that she’s done, she can finally look at the finished piece.

The person’s silhouette was highlighted by the golden glow of the setting sun behind them. They wore a regretful smile and soft eyes underneath cherry blossoms, with petals drifting around them.

All of a sudden, Ena felt tears well up in her eyes. Before she knew it, she was crying.

She sobbed uncontrollably, and she didn’t even know why for a moment. The butterflies in her chest, the warm feeling when she heard their voice… and the pain of seeing their smile.

Memories came flooding to her, one by one. The missing gaps in her memory were filled. And with it, came joy and tremendous pain. She remembered everything, even the reason why she lost the memories of the most important person in her life to begin with. She could vividly see the blood, the tears, and the train. Her friends and family tried so hard to get her to remember, but Ena couldn’t. She cried even more with guilt and shame. How couldn’t she remember?

“Mizuki…”

Explanation: Mizuki and Ena get into an accident (presumably a train accident), in which Mizuki dies and Ena loses her memories of Mizuki. Nobody can get Ena to remember Mizuki no matter what they did, so they eventually just gave up. i guess you could say mizuki got fed up with that and appeared to ena in a dream.

also, according to my floriography book, carnations and snowdrops represent heartache, consolation, and hope.

we would LOVE to see a bocchi song covered by Leo/need, it would literally be so cool and fit so well!!! (link to a post w specific song matchups we made a while ago) aside from that:

- nee nee nee by pinocchiop covered by niigo (esp either mafuena or mizuena!!)

- sick sick sick by pinnochiop covered by saki

- ultimate senpai by pinocchiop covered by either WXS or mmj- I feel like it could apply really well to tsukasa or airi!!

- idol by yoasobi covered by mmj!!! it would be SO cool, as an idol song while being much more... intense? I guess is how I would put it? it would be awesome (+ kohane and an's va's covered it and they sound AMAZING!!!!)

18. If you could pick any vocal synth to be added to the game, who would it be?

omg there are so many... we would love to see yukari, IA, Piko, Fukase, SF-A2 Miki, and flower added! even though we know it wouldn't happen, especially with some of the synth's company/rights stuff. I also think teto would be a super cool addition :)

we would super love to see yukari's different designs in different Sekais, she's one of our favorites and think she definitely has the range to fit into each Sekai perfectly <3

19. Favorite card(s)?

ok so we're going to do this as individual cards/not both trained and untrained, just one side, to make it easier to pick <3 also we numbered these but they aren't necessarily in order or anything

1) the resonating with you trained set!! we can't just pick one, they all go together so well and have such a lovely vibe to them!! the change in lighting/progression through the day, their outfits, how much fun they're having together, it's so good 💚

2) ok we're definitely biased because transmasc Mafuyu but this card is so pretty

3) Luka cherry blossoms!!! this is one of our absolute favorites, easily our favorite vocaloid card

4) yes we are doing another full Leo/need set we just love them so much and this set is so beautiful. the implications of moving on and train imagery honestly this whole event was AMAZING

5) WEDDING SHIZU!!!! this is one of our favorite costumes too shizuku is so so pretty

6) these cards are everything to us, probably our favorite mmj set- Minori focuses are always bangers and this one is no exception <3

7) get over it but specifically trained ichisaki + untrained ichi!!! the colors in this set are so good, they scratch our brain, and it just feels so funky and cute. plus we love any cards with multiple Leo/need members <3

8) re:tie friendship trained set!!!! yes another mmj set aksjajjd this is our 1st or 2nd favorite mmj sets, the lighting is gorgeous and it feels so... hopeful and emotional

Ramble about mafuyu

Idk. Perhaps I'm one to be called a Mafuyu kinnie. While I'm not much of a lore enthusiast in Pjsk, I do possess some basic understanding of niigo lore however. And somewhere in me I can found myself relating to Mafuyu's settings:

Trophy child? Check. An instant check. Even if my mom's tiger parenting behavior have lessened by now, somehow, I'd be lying if I say I don't feel the pressure on me everytime she fantasizes about my future. I'm anything but an achievement to her. A trophy of her life, for her prove herself. Truth hurts, but ah, I couldn't be possibly feeding myself even more lies.

Having a mom who use emotion manipulation, e.g guilt tripping or gaslighting, on her child? Check. Heavens do tell me how many times I have to let go of my ego, just to bend over backwards for my mom's feelings. No wonder why I grew up with zero backbone. And why I tend to prioritize other people's feelings more.

The perfect good natured, reliable, gifted kid, straight A classmate honored student in your school? Check.

Having identity crisis because of the idealized version/expectations others have of you? Ahaha silly me check. I suspect I have developed something akin to Impostor Syndrome. Because it always feels like I don't live true to how people depicts me, and I'm always skeptical of my abilities to meet those expectations.

Yet, despite seeing such a large part of me in Mafuyu, I can't find myself relating to her while reading the story (JP ver with fansub).

The writing overall is just not it for me and feels unrealistic. Mafumom went full toxic and abusive without any hesitation that it doesn't make an awful lot of sense. While I don't deny that abusive & neglectful parents exist, I just feel like.. Maybe, if you have given enough fuck to take care of your child for, say, 16/17 years straight, and you're even decent enough to tend to your child when they are sick, then surely, you must at least form some sort of bond with your child? You can't just be so unfazed when you are informed that your child have suicidal tendencies?? Yes??

I'm... not sure anymore.

Perhaps it's a biased viewpoint of mine, that I can't accept the scenario where my mom doesn't even hold an ounce of love for me. It just seems so surreal. Tho on that note, I can't really blame the JP culture of overemphasizing things. I suppose it was influenced by the art of Kabuki, while westerns was followed Realism. It's not uncommon to see exaggerated acting and alike on JP medias, with anime-manga culture and all.
