hyrule snap is of course the hit new video game for nintendo switch that has swept the globe to almost universal acclaim. @nightpool and @ot3 wanted to see some of my "nature photography" (part 2 here)

I would consider these 'perfect' animal shots; they're high contrast and there's even more than one animal in the larger shot for most of them. I spent an hour of in-game time staked out to get the arowana leaping

these are shots I like but will retake at some point to get bigger or with higher contrast. you are rewarded by physically getting close to your quarry--one thing totk did is actually reduce the 'resolution' of your photos as you zoom in. I have a lot of very zoomed-in bird pics with 'pixels' the size of a man

these are likewise perfect monster shots. note the octorok's projectile about to clock me clean upside the head

these monster pics will get reshot but I really like the poses I got. the wheezing wizzrobe who just needs a second. the top ten anime moments before black moblin disaster. the boss boko with his ducklings is funny to me; I just have to get the picture physically closer and on a sunnier day (hyrule doesn't have a real golden hour, either)

bonus: I like to shoot equipment in situ when possible. local twink jailed for taking creepshots, claimed 'was just trying to get a good angle on the gerudo scimitar'

Their Nightmare of the Speaker, in Haunted, taunts them for being unable to speak up for themself and saying they deserve it for thinking they were enough to stand against the Darkness (or even enough at all). They barely stand up to him there, either.

if you don't already know what the deal about canaries is (I have no idea how big of a thing it is), canaries were historically used by coal miners to tell when the oxygen was getting too toxic to be breathable. When the canary got lethargic and stopped singing, the miners knew to get out. hence the "Canary Curse" on the guy who dies first every season. F

I found the post I thought I lost when I remade this blog! It's below the readmore. Its about my nonhuman idenity feelings. TW for venting about nonhuman dysphoria, CW for body horror/injury talk (I think that's a good tag for it? (it's also in the tags)), and more general horrifying language (as in the way i describe my feelings may cause others feelings of fear/horror/paranoia). also i talk about wanting to shapeshift.

i feel drawn to the nonhuman label, but there so many posts out there talking about really specific experiences. like, being a specific animal, being a specific monster, etc. that's great for them, and others who relate! (genuine) but for me personally, it more so this vague feeling of otherness. (def from autism, but like, yknow)

idk i want to being able to "ripple", to shapeshift into something incomprehensible, into goop, into a fractal, into the corner of eyes, and the back of minds. to disappear and be omnipresent. to pull apart my limbs and rend my flesh, to ooze and crawl and devour.

Exile: If Cayde was roped into Haunted, thinking his Nightmare would be Sundance.

I wrote this on June 16th and I've finally accepted that I'm just not going to finish fleshing out Haunted yet. This was supposed to cover Sundance as Cayde's Nightmare as well, and her taunting him over his failure to protect her or his student and how he gave up trying to defend them. I'm just gonna leave the rest of this post unedited, but I'd be down to answer asks about her or the rest of Haunted?

And since you fuckers in the Content Box gave me the idea of the Speaker embodying Wolf's fear that they're the one who let this happen, and I can't imagine anything else anymore, we're keeping all of the above!

So, this post is gonna be about the horrible ideas our beloathed Content Box gave me about Haunted yesterday, if you couldn't tell! However, if anyone has any ideas for how therapy for this stuff goes, let me know! because i have no idea.

Alright! So, Cryptid pointed out the possibility of Wolf as Zavala's Nightmare, but. The Nightmare was never about Safiyah - it was about Hakim. And here, Zavala sees Wolf as... well.

Here me out here. Split the focus, and have Safiyah taunt him about both. He failed both, and he will inevitably fail the City because who can he save, if he can't save his children?

Zavala refutes that, the Young Wolf wasn't his kid, just a student he failed - She doesn't let him get through that sentence. The moment failed leaves his lips, she doesn't let it go. Mockingly calling the Young Wolf proof that Hakim was never meant to live, that the happiness was never meant to last; that Zavala is the same man that killed his son back then, even now, and he won't ever change - Even if he kills Wolf, too. Even if he kills his people.

He was meant to destroy the people he loves.

Nightmares are your personal truths, which you deny and bury, given form through your memory of someone. Safiyah was always wise, Ghaul was always wise - The Speaker was always wise.

I think some dialogue I accidently wrote at 2 in the morning while thinking about the Speaker as Wolf's Nightmare says it?

They stole your choice.

"I didn't know any better! I didn't… I didn't… didn't know…"

Maybe he didn't choose wisely, afterall.

"Don't drag Ghost into this-"

He dragged you into this. But you don't blame him. You don't blame any of them.

And you still protect them. I once said Zavala's faith was unshakable, but look at him now. Look at you now, and what he has done.

"…just… protecting the City-"

You conquered every threat beyond their walls, and yet you let them fell you. The ones who were supposed to protect you back.

Also, before anyone (specifically ME, the fucker who can't leave Lore alone) goes, "But they need to dispel the Nightmares for Calus" - hear me out (again) At the end of Haunted, Calus connects anyway. Maybe not the the Lunar Pyramid, but his connection to the Leviathan is gone. Maybe the Witness grabs our Big Boy at the end for Lightfall? I... am open to ideas, because... Zavala isn't healing that wound. Hakim and Safiyah, sure, but not Wolf. Not now. And since all those Nightmares needed to be Memories for the sever to work... I need a different way for Calus to ascend to Disciplehood.

how to find literally any post on a blog in seconds (on desktop)

there are so many posts about ~tumblr is so broken, you can’t find any post on your own blog, it’s impossible, bluhrblub~

I am here to tell you otherwise! it is in fact INCREDIBLY easy to find a post on a blog if you’re on desktop/browser and you know what you’re doing:

url.tumblr.com/tagged/croissant will bring up EVERY post on the blog tagged with the specific and exact phrase #croissant. every single post, every single time. in chronological order starting with the most recent post. note: it will not find #croissants or that time you made the typo #croidnssants. for a tag with multiple words, it’s just /tagged/my-croissant and it will show you everything with the exact phrase #my croissant

url.tumblr.com/tagged/croissant/chrono will bring up EVERY post on the blog tagged with the exact phrase #croissant, but it will show them in reverse order with the oldest first 

url.tumblr.com/search/croissant isn’t as perfect at finding everything, but it’s generally loads better than the search on mobile. it will find a good array of posts that have the word croissant in them somewhere. could be in the body of the post (op captioned it “look at my croissant”) or in the tags (#man I want a croissant). it won’t necessarily find EVERYTHING like /tagged/ does, but I find it’s still more reliable than search on mobile. you can sometimes even find posts by a specific user by searching their url. also, unlike whatever random assortment tumblr mobile pulls up, it will still show them in a more logically chronological order

url.tumblr.com/day/2020/11/05 will show you every post on the blog from november 5th, 2020, in case you’re taking a break from croissants to look for destiel election memes 

url.tumblr.com/archive/ is search paradise. easily go to a particular month and see all posts as thumbnails! search by post type! search by tags but as thumbnails now

url.tumblr.com/archive/filter-by/audio will show you every audio post on your blog (you can also filter by other post types). sometimes a little imperfect if you’re looking for a video when the op embedded the video in a text post instead of posting as a video post, etc

url.tumblr.com/archive/tagged/croissant will show you EVERY post on the blog tagged with the specific and exact phrase #croissant, but it will show you them in the archive thumbnail view divided by months. very useful if you’re looking for a specific picture of a croissant that was reblogged 6 months ago and want to be able to scan for it quickly 

url.tumblr.com/archive/filter-by/audio/tagged/croissant will show you every audio post tagged with the specific phrase #croissant (you can also filter by photo or text instead, because I don’t know why you have audio posts tagged croissant) 

the tag system on desktop tumblr is GENUINELY amazing for searching within a specific blog! 

caveat: this assumes a person HAS a desktop theme (or “custom theme”) enabled. a “custom theme” is url.tumblr.com, as opposed to tumblr.com/url. I’ve heard you have to opt-into the former now, when it used to be the default, so not everyone HAS a custom theme where you can use all those neat url tricks. 

if the person doesn’t have a “custom theme” enabled, you’re beholden to the search bar. still, I’ve found the search bar on tumblr.com/url is WAY more reliable than search on mobile. for starters, it tends to bring posts up in a sensible order, instead of dredging up random posts from 2013 before anything else

if you’re on mobile, I’m sorry. godspeed and good luck finding anything. (my one tip is that if you’re able to click ON a tag rather than go through the search bar, you’ll have better luck. if your mutual has recently reblogged a post tagged #croissant, you can click #croissant and it’ll bring up everything tagged #croissant just like /tagged/croissant. but if there’s no readily available tag to click on, you have to rely on the mobile search bar and its weird bizarre whims)
