Mugshot Monday - "Little Tall Mug" by Clarice Allgood of Mostly Good Pots with Ethiopia Single Origin Light Roast by Peace Coffee

My friend Adam (@px10_pottery) and I had a fabulous time at the annual Minnesota Pottery Festival in Hutchinson, MN.

We saw a ton of amazing pottery and had great conversations with so many incredible potters.

One of those amazing people was Clarice Allgood.

I first met Clarice when I was walking through the resident artist area at Northern Clay Center and saw a small cart in the hallway overflowing with some gorgeous pottery.

Clarice said, "Hi!" and I asked if the cart was hers. She had just unloaded the kiln and was heading back to her studio space. I told her the mugs with that white slip on the black clay-body were just incredible.

It's been about 3 years since then and now I'm stoked that I finally have one of her mugs!

The texture is amazing on this cup. And I love how when the sun hits the mug's lip just right, you can see some bright blue cobalt peeking through. 😍

It was great chatting with Clarice about her work. The whole day was awesome--there were Raku firing demos and a "Pottery Olympics" to watch. What a great event.

#i have had a hydrangea in a pot waiting to go in the ground for ages and some little tiny native trees #i have one thing i forgot to plant and a few things in the mail tho #but mostly everything out of the way before starting my new job so that's good #i did order a whole bunch of roses and tbh im not totally sure where i'm going to put all of them #and then i have 500 christmas trees lol #but that is a problem for tomorrow me 😌 #also i cleared up an bunch of branches from the winter storms and such #so everything looks nice now :) #anyway #startung to get a bit anxious abt monday but not as much as i was for the other job #hopefully this one will be easier <3 #i still have a lot of cleaning and organizing to do at home tho my space is a mess #and i will have no energy once im employed fr lol #also my plan for tonight was to be in bed by 8 to magically fix my sleep schedule which is...not realistic lol #maybe 9 tho idk

my dilemma is idk if i should get my brother in law a birthday gift or not. On one hand, i do not have the mental wellbeing to deal with them getting bitchy if i don’t, but on the other hand, I don’t want them thinking me buying him one is a sign of peace or whatever, i think him and my sister can, to be Very mild to what i’m feeling, can take a long walk off the shortest pier around here (we have a lot of piers). If not that, I have a plan with a cactus. My ideals do not include spending my money on him. 

and i’m the only person in the family they’ve not Yet personally attacked, just peripherally. But i’d really rather Not have them make me anxious to carry my phone around bc of what bs they might send me at any hour of the day, you know? 

but also i’d rather they not get me a gift for My birthday bc they so very maturely ruined my last one in the process of delivering my gift and acting like 4 year olds and i figure a good way to achieve that is to not buy them gifts sooooo yeah

I am absolutely furious.

They messed with my famous pot roast !!

They cut the ' tough meat ' up because they couldn't ' pull it appart ' BECAUSE IT WASN'T DONE COOKING YOU ABSOLUTE IMPATIENT BAFOONS ! I cook mine FOURTY EIGHT HOURS on the slow cooker so when it's done the meat DISSOLVES in your mouth !!

Ugh and as if that wasn't bad enough, these white people took my damn pork roast out the crock pot out the juice and PUT IT IN THE OVEN and now it's COMPLETELY INEDIBLE because if it's not fall off the bone the way I WAS MAKING IT then it's gonna get stuck in my teeth and that's painful!!

AND THEY ADDED LEMON JUICE ( and butter but that's always welcome, can't have too much butter so maybe that'll help save it ) it's going to take a lot of slap ya mama to get this to taste right again !

I put it back on to slow cook and scolded them for it. They need to understand that they do not cook like me. I cook Cajun creole and soul food. They cook like big cities ( which ain't bad but it clashes with my recipes ) and suburban white people ( which we all know commit food crimes every time they cook ).

If they touch my pot roast again I'm gonna put THEM in the oven!

In happy health news I did significantly reduce POTS symptoms this past year

#rant #my health issues #in spring was passing out and had major tachycardia #i started a pots exercise protocol salt. electrolyte saltsticks tablets. and compression stockings. #a couple months in i could stop wearing compression stockings and take salt less regularly and had hr down by 20 pts #now its 60-80 sitting. and 80-110 standing. 100-130 walking. which is all fairly good and mostly in normal range! #the strength training exercises and salt/electrolyte tablets helped the most in spring #and compression tights helped wkth not Faintjng until the exercise paid off #now im a bit dizzy sometimes and i probably cant go running. but i can hike and do slow stretches #do strength trainkng. do jogs. dance. and Not Faint which is most important #fatigue is also doing like 80% better
