BG3 Characters + their favorite Barbie Movie:

Wyll: Princess and the Pauper. Classic love story. He’s obsessed with it. He sighs and he’s like. The King had it figured out 💕 That being said, he’s also a stan for Three Musketeers. They’re basically the Blade of Frontiers in Barbie form.

Astarion: Contrary to popular belief, his favorite is not Princess and the Pauper. He likes that old 2006 movie, The Barbie Diaries. He’s living for the gossip of it all. He gets way too invested.

Gale: Princess Charm School. Let’s be so for real. He’s so invested in the ways of Princess school, he wants to study those classes too. Let Gale be a princess.

Karlach: Princess and the Popstar. She is grooving to those songs. She doesn’t care that it’s a remake of the OG, she’s here for the music and the music alone.

Halsin: He says he would never bother with them, but I think he’s absolutely obsessed with Swan Lake. They all turn into animals and he’s like, omg that’s just like me.

Shadowheart: Magic of Pegasus, not a singular doubt in my mind. She’s far too invested in flying horses, magic, and ice skating. She’s so excited whenever they’re flying, or when Annika wears that purple dress.

Lae’zel: Would never be caught dead watching a Barbie movie. That being said, don’t be surprised if you see her humming the soundtrack to 12 Dancing Princesses, for no reason in particular. She definitely watched it until she memorized the script.

Minthara: Mariposa. She’s like Lae’zel and wouldn’t want to admit it, but the Butterfly Fairies absolutely fascinate her.

Minsc: A Perfect Christmas, or maybe Solstice in the case of Baldur’s Gate holidays. Boo likes it too, so double the reason.

Jaheira: Thumbelina. Not even a question. It’s the perfect Druid film.

Isobel: Rapunzel, she grew up on this classic and I don’t think it ever left her.

Aylin: She… doesn’t have the best knowledge of the Barbie films until Isobel shows her. Because of this, she genuinely thinks Pink Shoes is the best one. Bless her soul.

Orin: Barbie Fairytopia: Mermadia. Next question.

Gortash: You think he watches Barbie movies? You think Gortash watches Barbie movies? You’re correct. A Fashion Fairytale is mandated viewing for the like, five days he’s a Duke.

Kethric: Isobel would watch Rapunzel pretty much nonstop, so by default this is his favorite.

Mizora: Barbie in a Christmas Carol, except she genuinely doesn’t think that Eden did anything wrong at first.

Cazador: He doesn’t even deserve a ranking. This mf probably tried to watch the Mermaid Tale one and got mad bc there weren’t any vampires. He doesn’t know good cinema.

Zevlor: Barbie in the Nutcracker because it’s a classic, and I think he’s definitely go for that sort of film. The tiefling children at the grove probably have that one on a lot.

Rolan: Fairytopia, specifically Magic of the Rainbow. For no other reason except that it had magic in the title, and so he watched it for that reason alone, before becoming obsessed.

Dammon: You cant tell me this man hasn’t seen EVERY single one. They’re everything to him. That being said, I think he has a particular liking for The Island Princess.

Movies

1. Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus - It is one of the few completely original Barbie movies (at least when I was a kid) and probably the best one. I loved everything about this movie: the setting, the protagonist, the villain, the love interest, the magic, the secondary characters. I think the only aspect where it failed me was the fashion, as Anika's dress was rather...forgetable. But her earlier skating suit was great, so there is that.

2. Barbie as Mariposa - Visually, I like this one better. And I also love the characters here just as much as in Magic of Pegasus, but I feel like it didn't live up to its full potential. I am mostly thinking here of the relationship between Mariposa and the antagonist, but there is also the fact that she and the love interest spent almost her entire movie apart, so....yeah, it could have been better. Still love the worldbuilding and the atmosphere.

3. Barbie in the Island Princess - Nostalgia is strong here! One of the few films I owned on DVD. I also found the visuals gr8: Ro's outfits were Iconic and the kingdom and the island were stunning. I also really loved the villain and her daughter, and Antonio was a decent love interest. And that final scene with Ro and her mom...my heart! But again, it could have been so much more than it was. One day, I might write the canon rewrite this movie needs, but it's not today.

4. Barbie in Princess Charm School - Mostly for Blair LOL She's the most Snake primary Barbie to ever exist and I loooove her for it. The movie is rather dumb but in a rather charming way. Again, love the fashion here.

5. Barbie in a Mermaid Tale - Merliah my beloved! You and your mom carry this entire movie series. Again, a bit of a dumb movie, but in a charming way. Really love the secondary characters.

Heroines

1. Eden Starling - The only reason her movie isn't in the above category is bc the others have more ~rewatch value, but she is by faaar the bestest Barbie to ever Barbie. No explanation needed

2. Blair Willows - Probably the most girl-next-door Barbie we ever had, but idc, I luff her. Part of it is -as mentioned above- bc she is the most unapologeatic Snake primary we've seen in the Barbieverse (sidenote: I am really curious about Margot's Barbie's sorting). Really wish we could have seen more of her story.

3. Princess Anika - If I ever had to apply the world girlboss to a Barbie (although I would try to avoid it most of the time) it would be her. She's just perfect. (Eden doesn't get the title bc instead of getting good old revenge on her aunt she bought into her BS and was even happy to see her in the afterlife)

4. Ro(sella) - Again, nostalgia, but damn, I love this girl. She inspires me to write fic! That's incredible.

5. Merliah Summers - Probably the Barbie with the most badass name. I love this competitive, stubborn girl with mommy issues.

Alex is awkwardly knocking stuff over while Reggie steals left socks and a shoe lace. Luke is just going full Paranormal Activity in this house, messing with the curtains and blinds, knocking more stuff around, turning the TV on and off, just bonkers over whatever this person did to Julie or Flynn that Julie said she needed them to haunt this house. Post haunting Juke hugs ensue.

Good ML fic recs? I really trust your taste as you’re an amazing writer!!

...Oh boy...

To be honest, there isn’t nearly enough room for all the ML fics I would want to recommend because there are a great many very good ones. I guess it would depend on what you’re looking for, but for now I’ll try to note the biggest ones that come to mind for now.

Please note that these are only some of my recommendations for completed works.

Oleanders and Belladonnas by Cynial Wonderland - There is an akuma running around targeting young women and putting them into comas and Ladybug and Chat Noir are on the case. But things get worse when Marinette becomes the next target. The intrigue is great and the characterization is spot on. It hits upon some of the issues of the characters which can often be overlooked in many stories, and notes how those issues are utilized by the villain to enact his plans. It’s the sort of level of manipulation and hard-hitting emotional impact I would have expected from Chameleon.

A Familiar Story series by Freedom Shamrock - A magic AU where Marinette is a witch who is looking for a cat to be her familiar. She is found by a black cat who seems intent on having the job. Plot twist: the black cat isn’t just a cat. It’s wholesome content and I adore how much love there seems to be and consideration the characters have.

Prince Charming by MiniMinou - A fantasy AU where Adrien is a prince “blessed” to be charming—and it’s not a good thing. Anyone who sees him falls under his spell and he hates it. Normally with this sort of story, there would be one girl in all the kingdom not affected who would become his true love. That doesn’t happen here and the story is all the more beautiful and tragic for it.

Operation secret garden - secret weapon by Krispo - Kim does not get enough appreciation and this story proves it. Adrinette happens and it’s thanks to the last guy that any of the girls would have thought.

A Teacher Does Her Job by Music_Feeds_My_Soul - In which Bustier is a good teacher and steps in before things get out of hand in Chameleon.

You Can Say No by PsychoBabble192 - Another Chameleon-based fic, but addressing a very different point than most others and an issue that has long been overlooked. Namely the tendency of certain persons to infringe on Adrien’s personal boundaries and Adrien’s struggle to voice his discomfort on the matter.

Welcome to the WC by Omeganian - In which an identity reveal happens in the restroom and Adrien and Marinette are forced to hide in a bathroom stall together to avoid getting caught. It doesn’t help that Chloe and Lila start up an argument over which of them Adrien is in love with and Adrien didn’t keep trying to kiss Marinette.

Nine Lives by P_Artsypants - Can I just say ouch? In an attempt to keep his dad from forcing him to leave Paris, Adrien goes to some…rather lengthy extremes. There are consequences.

It Started as a Joke by TheNovelArtist - to make Alya happy for her birthday, Chat Noir proposes to Ladybug. Now Paris wants to throw them an official wedding.

Double Sided, Double Blinded by mckinlily - In which Marinette discovers that Adrien is Chat Noir and Adrien discovers that Ladybug is Marinette. Both have difficulty coming to grips with this. Marinette tries to deal with this through puns and flirting. Adrien just tries to deal.

Sting by KryallaOrchid - A bit of a kwami swap involving Adrien getting the Bee after he somehow loses his Miraculous. It’s unique and expands quite a bit on Pollen, Gabriel, and Adrien’s mother.

Obsessions by KryallaOrchid - The Miraculous come with side effects. For Ladybug, it’s a struggle with cold and winter. For Adrien, it’s a need for pats and physical affection. Luckily, Marinette helps out with that.

Yesterday was plain awful by zipadeea - An akuma attack goes horribly wrong and nobody knows if Ladybug survived. It’s a lot of focus on the aftermath, for Marinette, Adrien, and everyone.

When May Comes by Blikdelie - A Marichat May but with Felix. He tries to lay claim to Marinette’s balcony. Marinette has a few things to say about that.

Talk This Through by Blikdelie - Ladrien happens but goes wrong. Chat Noir confronts Ladybug to find out why she dumped his civilian self and was not expecting the answer he got.

I will follow you by Blikdelie - Ladybug is the lone hero of Paris, trying to get by in akuma attacks on her own while waiting for her partner to appear. Then some blond kid finds out her identity by accident and won’t leave her alone.

Miraculous on Ice by moonbabyscoot - Marinette can ice skate! And apparently has a less than fully positive history on the rink. Adrien decides after an akuma attack where he was next to useless that he needs lessons. Good thing he happens to get the perfect partner.

If At First You Don’t Succeed by Leisey - The class as a whole has had enough. Adrien and Marinette are clearly in love but won’t admit it for some reason, so the group decides to step in to push the matter.

Benefactor/Top Cat by Otoshigo - Adrien wants to help Marinette but knows she won’t let him. But she can’t refuse random gifts from Chat Noir. It starts getting out of hand.

What’s Black and Red and Red All Over? by Otoshigo - Deadpool comes to Paris. Enough said.

Snitches Get Stitches by Otoshigo - Marinette finds out Adrien is Chat Noir and if anything, it actually lessens her view of Adrien. Adrien is convinced Marinette is Ladybug but can’t confirm it. Plagg has had enough but Tikki is no help and won’t let him reveal the truth. That’s okay. Plagg’s had hundreds of years to know how to get a girl to fall for a guy so she can do it for him.

Unfinished Business/The Love Itch by Otoshigo - Adrien gains an obsession and is desperate to get someone to say three words to Marinette. He remains oblivious to his own feelings, things get out of hand, and Marinette has a hard time dealing.

A Host in Paris by Otoshigo - Tamaki from Ouran High School Host Club comes to Paris. Enough said.

All That Jazz by midnightstarlightwrites - An akuma attack goes wrong and sends Ladybug back in time to 1920’s New York while switching her with the Ladybug of that time. An interesting take on the previous Ladybug and Black Cat holders as well as time travel complications.

Scarlet Lady AU by zoe-onesama - An AU where Chloe stole the Ladybug earrings from Marinette that first day and becomes Scarlet Lady, the heroine of Paris! A nice bit of catharsis after the train wreck of a “redemption arc” in the series.

Anything by iamthepunchlord. Flat out anything. But in particular…

Manynette - Akumatized Marinette where she is so exhausted and overwhelmed that as an akuma, she’s split into multiple versions of herself. People have difficulty dealing.

Loyal Chevalier - This actually predicted a couple of things—that Hawk Moth can akumatize two beings at once, that he can akumatize an object as well as a perosn, and what ended up happening in Chameleon to an extent with the return of Lila and sabotaging Marinette. Marinette gets akumatized, but she’s not alone. She has a loyal companion who promises to protect her no matter what.

Lucky Fox Paradox - Marinette successfully gave up the earrings to Alya and considered herself done with Miraculous, but the Miraculous aren’t done with her.

a little problem - Kwami curse AU, where there’s a curse that comes with misusing a Miraculous and Gabriel is on the receiving end.

Rise of Mariposa - Kwami swap where the Ladybug is the Miraculous being used for evil while Marinette finds an abandoned Butterfly Miraculous.

Just Our Luck - A superhero AU. Marinette has good luck that helps others at the cost of herself. Adrien has bad luck that hurts the people around him and leaves him pretty much slated for a future of villainy. Good thing luck works in mysterious ways.

A Declaration of Love - Kwami swap where Marinette got the Peacock and Adrien got the Fox. This was before the reveal of the Peacock being damaged.

Echoing Balance - Kwami swap with Cat!Marinette and Ladybug!Adrien.

Curiosity and Satisfaction - Enemies AU where Marinette must fight alone against Hawk Moth and Chat Noir. It’s primarily from Adrien’s perspective showing his take on trying to fight Ladybug to bring back his mother and just dealing with issues, as well as his growing interest in a certain baker girl.

Trouble In White - Akumatized Adrien is Chat Blanc. And apparently Marinette’s soulmate.

That’s just for starters.

Headcanons after the finale of SVTFOE.

Okay. So I watched the finale yesterday and I’m happy that I stuck with the show for four years. I loved the bubbly Star Butterfly who would learn to be a leader and take charge of her decisions and Marco Diaz, who was the ‘safe kid’ but ended up risking his life multiple time for his friends. I was happy with the finale but like most fans, I wanted more. Now that Earth and Mewni are cleaved, there’s so many possibilities for a season 5 on how people would live together. Here are a few of my ideas!

1) Moon trying really hard to not act like a queen. She grew into the role very quickly when she was young and I’m pretty sure she would need a lot of time to stat behaving like a normal mom. She’d make pies for family, go out for runs in the morning and maybe get job that includes running how Earth and Mewni works between humans, mewmans and monsters because she’s a good leader. Star would worry about her mom at first but relax once she she sees how her mom adjusts.

2) River, on the other hand, would have no problem settling in and would have his lessons on how to survive in the wild. His lessons are an instant success and Globgor sometimes tags along.

3) Globgor and River meet up once a week to talk fondly about their daughters and wives.

4) Eclipsa and Moon become better friends. It is a little difficult for Eclipsa at first because Moon did betray her with Mina but Moon really goes all out to let Eclipsa know that she’s sorry.

5) Eclipsa, Moon and Angie take walks in the park and discuss their daily lives while Star and Marco babysit Meteora and Mariposa. Star and Marco didn’t forget their promise to them and make sure the girls grow up together.

6) Even though Marco recognizes that Hekapoo and Quirky are gone, he visits a grave that he made for them and visits it every so often to thank them for what he did for him. Tom, Kelly and Talon Raventalon go with him to reminisce of their Kill Devil Pass Riders Club.

7) Tom goes on adventures with Janna and repays her with sneaking her tacos from Britta’s Tacos once it’s been rebuilt.

8) Marco and Star have a few arguments but they resolve them pretty quickly. They still go to school but the new curriculum includes Mewman and Monster history as well as training in combat. Monsters and Mewmans are a little uncomfortable at first but Janna, Tom, Kelly, Pony Head, Star and Marco make it work. After a few weeks, everyone is settled in.

9) Star shows Pony Head all the cool things about Earth and even though she insults some of it, she is happy that Star wanted to show her the parts that she loved.

10) Marco makes his nachos whenever Star is sad and they frequently have movie nights.

11) Moon and River have triple dates with Eclipsa and Globgor and Angie and Rafael. More than often the dates end up being interesting with River wanting to go hunting but they always enjoy the outcomes.

12) There is a special defense unit developed now that Earth and Mewni have been cleaved. Someone needs to take care of the giant spiders and creatures that want to cause harm. Alfonzo and Ferguson join the defense unit, much to Marco’s protests but actually do a pretty good job.

13) Pony still runs the Pony Head show despite bad reviews but soon starts to get good views when she covers how Mewmans and Earth people can co-exist and how to deal with Mewni and Earth being mashed together.

14) Pony Head decides to buy the Bounce Lounge and her sisters run it. It becomes a place for humans, Mewmans and monsters to party, meet and mingle.

15) Jackie and Chloe occasionally hang out with Janna and Tom. Jackie and Chloe teach Tom how to skate.

16) Tom does take some time to get over his break up with Star but once he does, he starts hanging out with both of them more often.

17) Marco’s parents still freak out when he fights creatures of Mewni that sometimes attack them. “MARCO PLEASE IT’S A GIANT SPIDER!” “Don’t worry Dad, I did this all the time on Mewni. You should’ve seen it!” “YOU’VE DONE THIS MORE THAN ONCE??”

18) Marco and Star train Mariposa and Meteora in fighting when they’re old enough.

19) Marco eventually tells Meteora why she feels anger towards him, how she attacked Mewni and how she used to run St. Olga’s. At first she’s a little overwhelmed because her own mother had to fight her and she caused harm to Mewni but Marco tells her that she was just really angry and that he understood why she hated him. She takes time to absorb it but starts to like Marco more after that.

20) King and Queen Spiderbite feel bad for badmouthing Globgor after realizing he’s a changed monster and is vegetarian. They send him a gift basket of salad and make amends.

21) Star warns everyone who visits Pie Island to not gamble. Pie Island becomes like a casino for humans and ends up being better than Star thought. (People still lose a lot of money though).

22) Star does get a little annoyed that she can’t use magic anymore especially when she’s lazy. Moon and Eclipsa feel the same way but adapt.

23) Eclipsa is still a fan of Snookers but frequently goes to Britta’s tacos for lunch with Globgor and Meteora.

24) Britta’s tacos and the Goblin Dog food truck become rivals and it becomes extreme until Star and Marco step in to handle the conflict.

25) Overall it takes quite a bit of adjusting for everyone after Earth and Mewni have been cleaved. There are protests and people are angry but this is when Moon, Eclipsa and Star intervene and explain the situation. There is no way that fighting will solve the problem and they’ve lived through too many wars for the same thing to happen again. They promise to make the transition as easy as possible and even though there are some people who are skeptical and angry, there is an agreement. There are the normal problems but those are dealt with by Eclipsa and Moon.

BRIAN ORSER: DANCE COACH TO THE STARS

Brian Orser added a new dimension to his career persona Thursday at Skate Canada International: ice dancing coach.

People took a double-take at the sight of the coach of Olympic and world singles champions leaning against the rink boards, overseeing the first practice of the day for Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir.

So how long had Orser been working with the 2010 Olympic dance champs? the duo were asked.

“About three hours,” Moir said.

Truth be told, Virtue and Moir’s coaches, Marie-France Dubreuil and Patrice Lauzon were delayed getting into Regina. So Orser stepped in. He did, in a pinch.

“It was like we had won a radio contest,” Moir quipped. “GET COACHED BY BRIAN ORSER FOR A MORNING!”

“I think when Patch and Marie texted us to tell us, we went: ‘Oh my god! That’s awesome! Brian Orser is going to be coaching us?” I think maybe they were a little insulted,” Moir said, tongue in cheek, as usual.

They were back with their normal coaching staff for the second practice in the afternoon.

But meanwhile, Orser didn’t just go through the motions. He advised them. Arms waved. Things were said.

‘He’s lived it,” Virtue said. “He knows exactly what to say. He coaches the best of the best singles. It was just so neat to look over and see him by the boards.”

And tips? “Oh yeah,” Virtue said. “He has great key words. Just about the glide of the blade and managing our patterns. He was incredibly helpful and more than anything, it’s just that sense of comfort and a nice little confidence boost.”

Actually, Dubreuil and Lauzon and Orser have had a longstanding friendship. Before the past world championships, the schools met at a mid-way point between Toronto and Montreal- Kingston, actually – and staged a two-day camp. “We all connected on the ice and did stroking classes,” Orser said. Virtue and Moir were part of it. Virtue thought it “invigorating.’’

Still, Orser doesn’t think he really did much on this Regina dance-coaching expedition. “Especially at this level,” Orser said. “They seemed to be in charge.”

He hasn’t forgotten that Lauzon also helped him out one time at a European championship at which Orser had a time conflict, Lauzon looked after Javi Fernandez at a men’s practice, while Orser thinks he may have been tied up with a women’s practice elsewhere.

“It was funny, because for a couple of the practices I had with Javi, he was terrible,” Orser said.

“And then I asked Patrice to look after him…and afterwards I saw him and said: ‘Patrice, how was it?’”

“It was perfect,” Lauzon said. “He didn’t make a mistake.”

“Like really?” Orser thought. “I guess well, you’re it, then.”

Lest anyone think Orser is as out of place in a dance venue as a knife in a fork rack, well, you’re wrong. Orser has his silver and gold senior dance tests.

His partner for the tests? Michelle Leigh, coach of 2016 Canadian women’s champion Alaine Chartrand.

“All the way to the end,” Leigh said. “We had fun doing it.”

Was he a good dancer? “Oh yeah!” Leigh said. “We both got our gold dances when we were young.” Orser passed his at the first try.

It was a thing that the Mariposa Skating Club coaches insisted upon: that singles skaters must learn dance, too. Leigh said it was a good strategy: extra ice time.

Once, she recalls, they danced a test for the Argentine tango which has a series of steps at the beginning. One of them tripped. It was so long ago, Leigh doesn’t remember which one of them did.

“And we laughed the whole way the whole way through the test,” Leigh said. “Our mothers were so mad at us.”

That wasn’t all. At club carnivals, Leigh and Orser also skated as a pair. There is a photo in Orser’s autobiography that shows Orser trying to hoist Leigh up in a pressure lift, but managed to get his partner only up to his chin.

They also did cartwheels and side-by-side Russian splits. “It was always a contest to see who could jump higher,” Leigh said.

The friendship still thrives. And Virtue and Moir count Orser as a close personal friend, too. Actually, they very well know what to do in a dance practice. Their coaches have prepared them well. They coached by text.

So mostly, having Orser at the rink boards served as a definite confidence boost. “It didn’t even feel weird at all,” Moir said. “It’s a good sign.”

All the Barbie protagonists I know -from best to worst

I feel like starting with a disclaimer that this is just my opinion, which should be implied. Anyway, this list took forever because I kept switching them. Look I am bad at picking favourites. The top 3 is actually pretty interchangable.

1. Eden Starling (Barbie in a Christmas Carol) - I love her with all my heart and then some. I love her design, her backstory, her personality, how unique she is from every other Barbie on the list. (Whoever came up with Barbie as Scrroge is a genius that deserves an Oscar) The fact that I relate to her in some aspects makes her even more loveable in my eyes. Also I think she deserves #1 spot because out of all the characters on this list she's the one I sorted before even rewatching her movie -and the rewatch confirmed the sorting. She's that memorable!

2. Princess Annika (Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus) - I love her too: her determination,her cleverness, her bravery, her justified anger. The "Destroy Wenlock!" speech alone guaranteed her a place in top 3. The fact that she doesn't back down even in the face of impossible odds - or maybe especially because the odds are impossible, her relationship with Aiden and with Brietta and her passion for ice-skating make her a very interesting character. Annika is a powerhouse and her entire journey is *chef's kiss*.

3. Merliah Summers (Barbie in a Mermaid Tale 1&2) - I think what I love about Merliah is that she put herself first, in both movies. Her first priority was her career as a surfer and only later did she come to accept her role as a mermaid princess. Her relationship with her mother is also great, I love them when they get along and I also love them when they don't - probably my favourite mother-daughter relationship from all the Barbie movies. Merliah's initial skepticism, her putside the box thinking and her competitive streak are delightful. Also her and Kylie might my favourite ship in the Barbieverse.

4. Blair Willows (Barbie Princess Charm School) - A Barbie with actual money problems?! Of course I was soft for Blair from the very begining. Her dedication and love to her adoptive family made her an instant fave. I loved that once Dean Privet helped her with her lessons she did her damn best to graduate from the school. She had her clothes torn, was accused of theft and looked in a safe, yet nothing stopped her.

5. Mariposa (Barbie: Mariposa) - I always had a soft spot for her as a kid. Her desire for adventure -for escape- the way she felt like she didn't quite fit in, her love for books, the somehow-anti-social attitude made her a perfectly relatable character in little!me's eyes. The way she refused to believe the rumors and the stereotypes in the second movie makes her even better. I loved her friendship with Catania and her romance with Carlos was cute too. Also her design might be my second favourite after Eden's.

6. Ro/Princess Rosella (Barbie as The Island Princess) - This movie is a goddamn masterpiece and Ro is a huge part of why. First I cannot help but be impressed by how adaptable she is: not only did she survive on a deserted island for ten years, she thrived. And then she had the courage to leave the only home she knew to go with Antonio and find answers about who she is. My heart ')). Then there is the fact that she risled her own freedom to help save the animals or how she was ready to step back and let Antonio do his duty and marry Luciana despite the fact that she loved him. And the ending wjere she finds her mother and starts singing the lullaby? It is what had cemented my love for this film and this character.

7. Corrine (Barbie in the three Musketeers) - In a lot of ways I find her and Merliah very similar -they both have goals they want to achieve and are somehow selfish because of it in the begining- but I think Corrine is a much kinder person: remember when she got that violin bow for one of the girls as a way to apologize? It felt like such a character establishing moment. I love that she took no shit for anyone, even the prince, and never faltered for one second in her desire to be a musketeer.

8. Princess Genevieve (Barbie in the 12 Dancing Princesses) - In a lot of ways she reminds me of Blair as she's a quieter personality but forceful in her own way. The way she always stood up for her younger sisters, her love for dancing, her relationship with her father and the fact that she was so heart-eyes when it came to Derek -seriously I don't think any other Babrie was so smitten with her LI from the very first moment- made sure she'll have a place in top 10. The only reason why she's not higher is because I love the others more.

9. Princess Annelisse (Barbie as Princess and the Pauper) - I think my favourite thing about Annelisse is that she completely understood her duties as a princess and was ready to sacrifice her personal happiness for her people. I also really like how she never shied from using her royal status- even if it didn't really work- or how she still tried to help the other taylor with the work when she was thought to be Erica, pity she had zero skill. Her relationship with her mom is my second favourite after Merliah-Calissa. Also collecting rocks is such an unique hobby AND she's a cat girl. Of course I love her.

10. Erika (Barbie as Princess and the Pauper) - Another cat girl! And so snippy and unafraid to be herself. Her dynamic with Annelisse is gold: Erika had all the reasons to despise Annelisse but instead clearly ~bonded with her from the very first moment and went along with an insane plan just to help her. Not to mention, she's the first Barbie who explicitly said "I am gonna fulfill my dreams and have the guy I love; what's this nonsense about choosing only one?" and I have to appreciate her for it.

11. Rapunzel (Barbie as Rapunzel) - The fact alone that she is best friends with a dragon gives her major points in my books. Her love of painting and the way she used it as a literal way of escape? Go, girl! The fact that she refused to let Stefan tell her his name just to make sure Gothel won't find out? Impressive and so spiteful! And the disgust in her voice when she realized Gothel had kept her prisoner for years because her father hadn't married her? Perfect.

12. Kristyn Farraday (Barbie in the Pink Shoes) - I really liked her enthusiasm for getting to actually be the characters she didn't even get to dance in the real world, the way her mind immediately internalized the rules of the fairytale-esque world despite how insane it was and how she refused to conform to the rules. I see the movie as an exploration of Kristyn's creepling fear of failure and the pressure she felt as a proffesional ballet dancer and seeing her come out triumphant on her own terms felt really good.

13. Actress!Barbie (Fashion Fairytale and Fairy Secret) - Probably the most three-dimensional of the "real" Barbies. I think what I like most at her is her determination to save Ken in the second movie. What can I say, I love a Barbie-in-shining-armour. I also like that she knew when to step back and let others do their jobs - in fact she doesn't so much in the first movie, just motivates people. If I had to pick a Barbie to have as a friend, I think she'll be my first choice. She seems like a good listener and someone who knows how to solve problems.

14. Elina (Barbie: Fairytopia 1&2&3) - She is an interesting character and one whose stories I do like, but something never clicked for me when it comes to Elina. Buut, this doesn't mean I don't appreciate her desire to save everyone or how she never drowned in self-pity when she was the only fairy without wings.

15. Clara (Barbie in the Nutcracker)- Clara doesn't get the chance to do much, but I love the glimpses of her intelligence we see (how she figured out the Nutcracker is Eric) or how she longs for adventure and excitment.

16. Thumbelina (Barbie present Thumbelina) - I like that she's an inventor and that she is ready to use Mackena to save her home, but overall I found her unimpressive.

17. Liana (Barbie and the Diamond Castle) - I always had a grudge on her as a child on Alexa's behalf. I always felt like Liana dragged her down. This being said, Liana is still a super smart cookie and very devoted to her friends so she avoids being even lower on the list.

18. Princess Lumina (Barbie: Pearl Princess) - The most memorable things about her are how she loooved having a job and how she refused to condemn the woman that may have raised her but had also kidnapped her from her family. Now both these traits should make her an intriguing character, unfortunately the movie is pretty boring and it never taps into Lumina's potential.

19. Princess Alexa (Barbie and the Secret Door) - Look I relate to her: Lover of books? Check. Desire to escape your life full of rules? Check. Not good with people? Check. But Alexa's development was so weird, the movie was very boring and felt like it had no trajectory and it affected the protagonist a lot.

20. Odette (Barbie in Swan Lake) - She just...doesn't do much. I wish we have seen her more involved in her own story. Not to mention I really didn't understand why she was so afraid of being in the spotlight or how being turned into a swan helped her get over it.

21. Starlight!Barbie (Barbie: Star Light Adventures) - I think my opinion of her -and the whole movie- can be summed up in the world "meh". There is simply no spark of life here.

22. Teen!Barbie (Barbie Diaries) - I have such an overwhelming repulsion towards "unpopular" girls wanting the be popular. Especially since I cannot see what exactly is holding Babrie back from being happy? She seems to have everything (great friends, nice life, good grades and music talent!), but doesn't care about any of it. Not to mention, she's the only Barbie who has to settle for a guy that was pining for her while she only saw him as a friend and I resent that.
