I'm excited that Marvel Studios is finally getting off their asses, and beginning to work on the live-action X-Men reboot.

But at the same time, remembered how much of a bloodbath the Fantastic Four casting was, and I can't help but feel like the X-Men is going to be even worse. Like I'm pretty sure the official casting announcement is going to cause World War 3 on the internet.

I've come to the conclusion that i wont like any casting for the mcu fantastic four cause i don't want it, i want the ff to get a good animated series. why aren't they doing any animated series its the best medium for superhero stuff. they could have it seperated from the overly connected movie verse and give their streaming platform some appeal that won't effect their movies boxoffice success. i mean come on disney was built on animation and now they own all these properties and nothing

While I’m not personally sold on the casting, one thing I wanted from a Fantastic Four movie was a 1960’s setting and it looks like we might actually get it! I hope we get an era appropriate animated intro as well.

Is it weird that I hope Doctor Doom isn't the Big Bad in the MCU’s Fantastic 4 ?

Like I’m not saying exclude him entirely - I have no doubt with the right writers, they could introduce Victor and build up his presence for Avengers: The Secret Wars...but he doesn’t necessarily need to be center stage in F4.

Let me explain. Doom has been the Big Bad of three of the past live action F4 movies. He was the secondary antagonist in Rise of the Silver Surfer, and even then they pull the “Hijacked By Ganon” card.

And I’m just sitting her like “Why not give the Mole Man a shot?”

Plus with the Skrulls being built up to in Secret Invasion, the Skrulls and Kree were also recurring antagonists to the Fantastic 4, and I doubt they’d wrap up that arc in a miniseries. So perhaps they’d be the main threat in F4 ?

And it’s not like they could exclude Doom entirely. MCU’s Fantastic Four isn’t meant to be an origin movie, so they could establish Doom as being a villain they fought in the past, in some unseen origin story. 

Maybe they establish Victor as being someone of importance, especially to Sue and Reed, without him being the threat they’re up against. Doom could be the Greater Scope Villain, someone who has/had an effect on the, but little to no direct presence in the story. 

Or he could be a supporting character, put into an Enemy Mine situation, so they could directly build his relationship with them, but unlike Rise of the Silver Surfer, he doesn’t betray them by the end of the film...they’d still plant the seeds setting up a villain role in Secret Wars.

Unfortunately, J Kras is Reed. Diversity loss for us FF fans

*sad noises* i'm just sad at this point honestly... I have nothing against John Krasinski as an actor or a person, he seems like a great guy, but I do not thing he should play Reed at all. The only reason people want him to play Reed is because Reed grew a beard in the comics and happened to look a lot like him. (And he's married to Emily Blunt, who would make a pretty decent Sue Storm). I just don't think he can pull of Reed's character. Reed is a very distinct person, and he's very detached and logical, and I just don't think Krasinski can pull that off. He honestly just looks too nice to me?? He doesn't have the right personality? And yeah, I know actors are paid to change their personalities for their characters, but I don't think he can play the distracted, sometimes detached but ultimately loving Reed. At least from what I have seen of his work. Like Reed Richards is kinda the worst? He's just a really annoying person who will argue with you until you think he's right and knows he's smarter than you. In real life, Reed would be so annoying, I love him. And I just don't think that Krasinski can play annoying. He's too loveable lol

But, I am still holding out some hope that the John Krasinki Reed was just for fan service to quell the fans and will stay a Variant and not be the actual Prime Reed Richards. I just want them to cast literally anyone else as Reed. If you're talking about how Reed should be played by a black man since Kang (his descendant) is played by Jonathan Majors in the Loki series, then also, yeah. I think a black Reed Richards would be really good. But also, I have love in my heart for the idea of a black Sue and Johnny Storm instead. I haven't seen many people mention this side of the coin in that regard though. Not sure why the idea appeals to me, but I always see people talking about Reed being black, but not considering the other side of the family in Sue.

I mean, over all, I would just like the MCU not to touch the FF at all, but that's not possible, so I'll just have to hope for the best, and if not, I will suffer.

I just want to say this before today's D23 Expo that these new castings that were leaked are for the Fantastic Four movie.

Krasinski is obviously going to be Reed Richards, because they wouldn't cast him as anyone else after that cameo in MoM.

Jodie Comer is going to be Sue Storm.

John Boyega will be Johnny Storm.

Henry Cavill will be Ben Grimm.

Giancarlo Esposito is going to be Doom.

Daisy Edgar-Jones will be Alicia.

The only person I can't place is Denzel Washington.

Anyway, that's my prediction and we'll see how that turns out later today.
