Clive's Outfit in FF14!

Since we had the PAX East Panel for FF16 today, and we know it's coming in "early April" (FF16 Producer Naoki Yoshida didn't want to say more than that, as tomorrow there is a panel with FF14 Producer/Director Yoshi-P, who might get mad if Yoshida revealed more than he was supposed to and no, he is never getting tired of this bit) I hopped into Crime to check out Clive's outfit on various characters.

FF14-only players will likely raise brows at the set's name, "Metian", because "Metia" is used as a name for something in FF16's world, with a lot of significance to Clive and Jill from the very start. So this set's name (despite the clothes' origin in FF16's story) ties back to his lady.

I started off with Dalamud dye cuz that's what Aeryn happens to have on her jacket, hands, and feet at the moment:

Unfortunately, hyuran men at present do not get quite the bulky chests Clive and his comrades sport in Valisthea. Maybe the update will make them look more filled out.

Meanwhile, if C'oretta doesn't look she won't have to see it's not pink.

This also really pulls in Punchy's bust; she's maxed on the slider, while Aeryn and Dark are mid-ranged, and Iyna minimal. But in this, they're all looking pretty similar. And similar to the guys, actually...

Finally added color for Iyna; Celeste, and the pants are Deepwood. She doesn't want to be here today. Also yes I put Thancred in this outfit, what of it?

(Now if only they also gave us Jill's amazing outfit, then I could really cosplay...Uh, nevermind. Moving on!)

I dunno if it's the angle I used that makes the legs look funny on Iron Summer (more on the legs/feet in a moment). But Roe men do, in fact, have the chests to make this outfit work like a Valisthean gentleman. And I shamelessly used @driftward's Zoissette as an elezen example.

Now, Clive is obviously wearing long boots, right? Well...

Have to click the legs pic, but it's plated pants and ankle shoe things (in Celeste Green here). Blergh.

Extra Details!

Clive famously fights with giant swords, but also carries a short blade for a backup weapon; very historical of these nerds. The other side of the belt shows his pouches. The back cloak is missing any kind of device or hold for his giant swords, which is very video game of these nerds.

The belts are part of the vest.

Sampo… more like, Hoyoverse rant… thingy..? Idk what to call this

So this random thought popped up in my brain at 5 in the morning after I watched Mina and Molly (Seele’s va)’s stream where they ranked HSR characters, and they said some things specifically about Sampo that got me thinking.

Hoyoverse always makes sure their characters are marketable, or at the very least likeable enough. even in cases where their characters end up being unused or straight up become a punching bag for the community it’s usually never because that’s what the company intended to do.

I find it very odd how Sampo specifically doesn’t meet any of their criteria of character making. He’s not particularly hot (he is the hottest character) or to be more specific he’s not the same type of hot as Jing Yuan or Blade for example that would have a lot of people fangirling over

He’s not really “cool” (he’s the coolest character) in the same way Blade or Dan Heng are cool, enough to get people invested in him.

He’s deliberately created to be unlikeable, it feels like Hoyoverse made him this way on purpose which just feels so… unlikely for them to do.

In fact, like Molly said, he’s not like anyone Hoyoverse has ever made, I mean I’m very glad that Sampo is actually so special, they managed to create such an outstanding character with him, but I also have to question why?

I know silly goofy man is technically what his fans like about him the most but in the grander scheme of things if you really take a look, Sampo is one of the least liked characters. there’s so little attention being given to him by HSR fans especially in comparison to other characters like Jing Yuan, Dan Heng, Kafka, Welt yada yada, and I know they’re like main characters but still… heck I would argue characters like Qingque are more popular than Sampo come on.

My point still stands that Hoyoverse seems to want to make him dislikable on purpose, which is a behavior so opposite of what they typically do. they must have a good plan for him. I refuse to believe otherwise.

I really really hope the rangers apprentice movie/show is a show. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll take literally whatever I can get!!! But knowing the way the series is written, how the characters develop, just the kinda vibes, it would make more sense for it to be a series yk? Number one, more content, number two, more opportunities to become even MORE attached to the characters, and each book could be a season. If you think about book 1, it wouldn’t make much sense for it to be a movie on its own, at least in my opinion. Like I said, I’ll literally settle for anything, these are just my thoughts

Aaaaaand now, per Lyndis tradition, I'm gonna overexplain shits and turn a simple Ask into a whole ass Ramble!

If you're short-sighted, try removing your glasses or contact lenses and look at this picture. I just did and it's suddenly even prettier!

I actually planned to draw your Sonicsona at first. And then I realized I deadass couldn't even draw Base Sonic. Then I thought I should draw a mole. I realized I also couldn't draw a mole. I thought I should just go for the easiest shit and draw ToFu. I realized I could not draw either one of them, too.

Because I cannot draw, I cheat! I mean I turn things into shapes (chiefly triangles, though not all of them) and then color them and hope that something shows up. This is me using this scientific /+ philosophical concept called Emergence.

No, I didn't just say THAT to sound like I have a technique of any kind, trust. It's so totally a technique—my very productive ass told me.

I remember you saying your favorite color is something like pink, blue, and stuff? It was from that tag game from last year. Hence, I decided I should create a context so I could draw an obscene amount of pink and blue.

If I'm being honest, it took me less than a millisecond to come up with the exact context—Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom is abundantly blue.

And since I always wanted to sneak ToFu in, I thought I would make a purplish-pink dusk. And then I will sneak those stargazing two in.

Come on. Everyone knows those ToFu panels. Even someone like me, who had not seen that part of the manga yet, knows.

Bless Tonari for being so relaxing to color.

HOWEVER! Fushi's limited-ass color presented a big problem for my cheat-drawing. How many combinations of "white" can you even make before you zoom out and see... nothing?! So I basically sabotaged them. That's what you get for being difficult, you mopey, neck-crick-possessing, fragile-enough-to-be-blown-by-the-wind cutie doofus.

I made up the color of their pants. I didn't even refer to their Nameless Boy drip when I decided on the color. I assed that part.

Yes. I admit I put a shit ton of effort into coloring Zelda. This version of Zelda is my kin, you know. Anyway, I like the way her, uh, shirt turned out.

I also like how the Master Sword turned out, but there was so much blue I ended up requiring outlines to distinguish it from Link's shirt and the sky. Told ya I have no technique or skill. I cheat through and through

I was too lazy to draw those sky islands. Besides, the ToTK side is already saturated with details.

What the fuck issa "proportion?" Everyone's head is an orange. The difference, Nova, is whether it's a Mandarin Orange or an Orange.

I don't know if I overdid Dinraal's draconic mane. It looks like she's wearing a wig. At least she is different from how she initially looked—a red tapeworm outfitted with chicken legs.

I admit I put more effort than any Past Me would have into Dinraal because a certain mutual is very, ah, particular about dragons.

Drawing two of your favorite ships for their show of devotion was a completely deliberative choice on my end. Did you also realize that both Link and Fushi had a short, small, low ponytail and that both Zelda and Tonari had similar hair? I believe it's due to me hitting my drawing skill limitation.

There is actually an Easter Egg of some sort in this picture. It's not the ugly doodle thing, no. That thing is me. I'm not an Easter Egg; I'm a ghost.

I'm not telling you what that Easter Egg is. I'm fine with it never being discovered; it'd be like those secret levels in old video games.

But if you DID discover it, come tell me what you think it is!

I want this made into stained glass I want to make this the permanent window to me bed roOM LYN THIS IS AMAZING THIS IS ALMOST CERTAINLY GOING DOWN AS ONE OF MY FAVORITE ART STYLES!!!! There’s no such thing as cheating in art, it’s all art!!! “Cheating” is a style, no technique is a style!!! I should know I have none either, hehe -w-‘ your art may be some type of cubism? Hehe idk I’m not an art student :3 Either way this is absolutely gorgeous I’m in LOVE!!!

It’s so creative and well done and I LOVE your eye for detail, the lighting is inspired!!!! Like the way the sun hits the space behind Zelda is so pretty, AND ZELDA IS SO PRETTY!!!!!! EVERYRHING IS SO PRETTY, I CANT FOCUS ON ONE THING BECAUSE I KEEP JUMPING BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN ALL THE THINGS I LOVE ABOUT IT (every thing, every last detail!!! Is that a little you in the middle? I should slow down maybe and pick a few things to focus on BUT I JUST CANT I LOVE IT ALL!!!! The two scenes just blend so well into one another that my eyes are just naturally being drawn back and forth between both of the scenery! Dinraal, who turned out AMAZIING BY THE WAY, ABSOLUTELY NOT OVERDONE, if anything I’m so glad you had fun working on her!!! She’s so gorgeous!!!! I bet your friend is so so proud of how well she looks!!! Oh but anyway, Dinraal naturally leads my eyes over to the sun/moon (and the 24, hehe, thank you!!! /)//(\ Your memory is astounding!!), which have their own beautiful rays of light leading down onto the adorable couples 😭 I love love LOVE the moonlight leading down onto Tonari and Fushi, and the fact that she’s pointing at it too like she can almost reach it? Beautiful! Gorgeous!!! And it just leads my eyes down to them too, there’s just such a natural circular flow here, no wonder I keep getting caught in a loop of admiration! 😁

The blues and the pinks, and the stars on the ToFu side!!! I just noticed them and they’re everything to me!!!! Hahaha I’m so glad Tonari was relaxing to color hehe, same for me, something about her is just so lovely and calming when she’s relaxed 🥰 As for Fushi’s colors, I didn’t notice! Even after you pointed it out it looks good to me! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ this is from someone who never references colors though, I’m so loosey goosey about everything -w- BUT YOUR SOLUTION TO YOUR PROBLEM WAS GREAT, THEIR SHAPE IS VERY VISIBLE AND EASY TO MAKE OUT hehe :3 I love their crossed little legs 🥰

Zelda being your kin is so good to know hehe, I’ve always been drawn to all versions of Link myself! I think we’ve been perfectly set up to “play dolls” with these characters in the future, so to speak! Aaaahh they can’t have been easy to draw, there’s a reason I almost never dabble in drawing those two and their intricate outfits, but you make it look effortless!!! Zelda’s shirt turned out amazing, and I’m stuck looking at her little triangle braids!!!! I don’t know why I’m so fixated on that it’s just adorable!!! 😭💕 What a lovely technique, man, I’m so enchanted! AND THE MASTER SWORD, I know you called it cheating BUT I LOVE THE LINE WORK, it makes the sword stand out, almost like you lined that specific part with some sort of melted gold??? Okay so I don't like how Serena died {FTWD thoughts}

Serena shouldn't have been dead, we should have been able to see Troy and her and Tracy be a family and be happy.

Serena shouldn't have been sacrificed for the plot in order to bump up the Clarks. No, leave Troy and his wife and their happiness alone

IN WHAT UNIVERSE WOULD TROY LET HIS WIFE GO ON A RUN ALONE???? Like, just NO. WTF.

Serena would have helped people, yes, I think she was a good person, but I don't think she would have put her life at risk like that especially when there was the chance she might not come back and cost Troy his wife and little Tracy her mother.

ALSO how did Alicia save Serena? Like after she got bitten they sent out a call for help, and Alicia answered. But it would have had to have been super quick response wise. You gotta cut the bite off quick.

Also we’re supposed to believe Troy Otto wouldn’t know what to do and where to cut?? Come on people

"I'm not nervous. I was just thinking that since my blankets aren't that warm, Quentin could keep you warm..." he murmurs thoughtfully as his brown and black eyes intertwine with mine.

"Quentin Tarantino?" I ask, leaning on the bed.

"No, just Quentin..."

"Hm... Alright... Is this your old room when you lived with Wayne?" I inquire.

"Yes, but I never got to use it..."

"Why?"

"My uncle renovated this room according to my taste..."

"I never knew that. I thought your father had renovated it."

"No! It was my uncle Wayne. My father is not someone I remember, but Wayne is an important part of my life. I didn't want to keep him away from me or close to memories he would have to forget by living next to Demer Munson."

He suddenly looks downcast.

"Will you still want Quentin when you leave? How many blankets do you want to stay warm?" he asks, clearly nervous.

"Stop treating me like I'm a visitor... Who is Quentin?" I ask, crossing my arms, revealing my curiosity.

"Close your eyes..." he requests, attentive.

In my mind, Eddie and I were about to kiss, so I furrow my brow as I close my eyes, expecting our lips to touch. But Eddie doesn't move a muscle, so I realize he's not going to kiss me! When I least expect it, he brings something close to my eyes, something I couldn't know what it was, and I conclude it wasn't his mouth.

"Darling, open your eyes..." he says, smiling.

"Oh, what?"

"I never introduced you to my friend, not imaginary?" he asks, raising an eyebrow, seemingly enjoying exposing his more childish side.

I swear I thought he was delirious or that his imaginary friend belonged to the underworld!

"Wait... A stuffed animal? I thought we were going to..." I admit, timidly.

"I was talking about my stuffed bat!"

When he shows me the stuffed animal he's attached to, he holds it in front of his face, smiling pure, as pure as a child's innocence.

"I'm Quentin, I'm the chatty bat. I'm also Edds' best friend!"
