I don't know what to think about this renovated 1890 Victorian in Dayton, Ohio. On one hand, I love what they did w/the decor, but on the other hand, it's no longer an historic Victorian. It has 4bds, 2.5ba, & has a sale pending for $950K.

This is the new entrance hall. So, you would have no idea, walking in here, that it's an 1890 Victorian.

The new sitting room. Okay, I do like the ceiling. It appears that the room layout was definitely reconfigured.

Here's another sitting room with an exposed brick wall painted white and a funky mural going up to the ceiling. Those look like new modern windows over by the window seat.

This house was gutted. Look at those 3 greenhouse windows. There's a new door to the patio, ultra modern walls, ceiling, and floor.

This, I hate. They put a hi-end stove in the middle of the floor w/o an exhaust hood.

Cool fridge is tightly fitted into the wall. There's no space for air to flow around it.

Eat-in kitchen places the table in front of the patio. Instead of standard cabinetry, there's a tile wall with one long "sideboard" style cabinet and a wooden countertop that looks more like living room furniture.

Outside the kitchen is a coffee bar setup.

Ultra modern guest powder room.

The TV room also has new windows.

The original architecture remained, but it was completely modernized. The original molding was replaced, too.

New walls, new molding, space reconfigured to make a sort of pantry and laundry room.

Gone are any traces of the original stairs. Note the Lucite bannister.

There's a family room up here.

Bedroom with a retro vibe.

Main bedroom. Clearly all fireplaces were removed from the home. In the bedroom, a retro style yellow model decorates a corner.

Sometimes, when you knock down walls, it appears that more, smaller ones emerge to create a maze-like effect.

Completely modernized shower room. Do you think that where the shower is, was where the original claw-foot tub once sat?

The old tub was replaced by this sunken one. It places the toilet and plant in a precarious position, especially if you're feeling a bit tipsy.

A smaller, 3rd bedroom or home office with a bold graphic.

Attractive checkerboard patio out by the pool.

Looks like there's an industrial type business next door.

At night you can see the new clear glass windows.

Before starting the analysis, I would suggest if you haven’t already, read her W.I.N.G. (introductory) commu (through the broswer game's English patch or on YouTube). If you don’t play the game, I would listen to her image song and read the lyrics to get a better sense of her character.

STYLE BREAKDOWN

Out of all of the Shiny idols, Kogane’s style is the most consistent from her debut to current day. Her fashion is polished and elegant, cutie-sexy while also modest. Kogane’s style is a Japanese take on 1950s fashion, highlighting her figure, fashion sense, and love of pink.

Most of Kogane’s earlier outfits were in the “girly” style, very cute and sometimes tacky with a bit of a playful edge with oversized floral and bow features and a predominantly pink color scheme. As seen in later outfits, her clothes compliment her figure very well.

A substyle of her girly fashion, the “cutie sexy” style (as I dub it) keeps her hyperfeminine style, but adds a coy maturity to her outfits that add a bit of sexiness to her cute ensembles. Details include exposed shoulders/cleavage, sheer fabric, & darker/more neutral colors.

Another notable girly substyle featured is “retro girly,” mostly taking influence from 50s American “housewife” style. A reference to her “countryside hospitality” and love to cook for others, it shows a bit more elegance and class compared to previous style inspirations.

I want to go more in-depth into the 1950s retro influence in her style, so I made two more graphics detailing the “New Look” style by Dior (made in late 40s but popularized in 50s & beyond) and the “American housewife” influences in her fashion.

Her final major style influence is “adult girly,” a substyle that still has cuteness that the “girly” style is known for, but leans in more to an elegant/classy vibe. A visual shift that shows her character growth as an idol as well as the leader/center of L’Antica.

Kogane’s image color is a medium shade of magenta-red, referencing her status of being the center and leader of her unit L’Antica, a trait of pink image color idols. Compared to Mano’s pink, it’s much more vibrant, pointing to her outgoing and larger-than-life self.

The main colors in Kogane’s wardrobe are pinks, browns, and yellows and are mostly a constant throughout her fashion through time. These colors are often paired together and with white/black as accent colors. Kogane also infrequently wears blue/purple, mostly in earlier outfits.

FASHION ANALYSIS

Kogane is known as the leader and center of L’Antica with a huge love for her hometown of Nagasaki. Because of the overwhelming support and love she’s received there, she possesses unbudging positivity. She can say “I am the best idol!” without any self-consciousness.

Since leaving her hometown to chase her dream, she has went to and failed several auditions but never gave up, strongly persevering. Even after becoming an idol, she tends to mess up often, forgetting dance steps or lyrics, but doesn’t worry too hard and keeps moving forward.

In game, she’s known for having a very cute and “outrageously stylish” image, which fits her perfectly to be a center for an idol unit. Her fashion takes very accessible pre-existing styles like various “girly” substyles and makes a visually clean and unique style that is hers.

Kogane’s clothes heavily flatter her figure, such as a cinched waist, above-te-knee dresses/skirts to show her long legs, and tops that accentuate her bust. Contrary to assumptions, she doesn’t wear clothes to impress others, but just because she likes the clothes she wears.

She actually has a sizeable complex about her body type, not liking comments on it or being stared at/touched. Many agencies offered to produce her as a gravure idol, but she turned all of them down. Kogane has even wished to have a smaller frame/body type like Yuika’s.

Though some elements of her fashion are mature, there is a pureness in it seen in the styles it is based off of, especially the “girly” substyles. It balances many contrasting elements (e.g. cute and elegant, pure and mature, sexy and modest) which is quite commendable.

Though Kogane has such a positive outlook on life, she is not without insecurities. Perhaps as a side-effect of failing auditions due to being a “normal cute girl one can find anywhere,” she sometimes desires traits of others, like Kiriko’s gentleness and Sakuya's dependability.

Despite this, Kogane doesn’t change herself to appease anyone and wants to fulfill her dreams by being her authentic self. This can be seen visually in how her style evolves over time, keeping the same elements (e.g. silhouette, composition, color) constant with subtle changes.

Kogane has one of the most consistent styles out of all the idols, a testament to being a steady pillar of support for L’Antica. If you look at all of her outfits, there is little variation in categories like color, composition, fabric, or design elements.

One variation is how her silhouette changes subtly over time. Her first outfits were very girly and featured more tacky design elements but slowly started to become more clean, elegant, and mature. Her bottoms got less volume but longer, leading to a more linear silhouette.

Symbolically, this stands for her character growth through being an idol. While her positive & strong-minded personality doesn’t change much, her newfound relationships with her unit members & Producer have changed her worldview tremendously, hence a mature albeit subtle change.

Additionally, due to her family owning a restaurant, she is very skilled in cooking and often cooks for others as a sign of affection. This is a probable reason why there’s 1950’s housewife influence in her fashion, symbolizing her hospitality and love for taking care of others.

Overall, Kogane's fashion style is simple but effective, transmitting her traits of unyielding positivity and cutesy perseverance well. Though it doesn't change much compared to other characters, it shows her commitment to stay true to herself and her subtle development & growth.

Niall Horan‘s inaugural Melbourne show on The Show tour at Rod Laver Arena marked a monumental milestone in his solo career journey. Having risen from his One Direction roots, Niall has solidified himself as a formidable solo artist with three studio albums to his name, amassing a dedicated and loyal fanbase.

This concert, selling out two nights at Melbourne’s iconic venue, Rod Laver Arena, was not just a musical event but a testament to Niall’s connection with Melbourne, a city he considers a second home. The diverse demographic, comprising seasoned Directioners and newer enthusiasts who may not have witnessed the band’s glory days, contributed to an atmosphere charged with excitement and anticipation. As someone who still has a strong case of One Direction Infection, missing this show was out of the question.

British singer-songwriter Birdy opened the night, creating an incredible pairing with her timeless talent. I’ve been a fan of Birdy since her 2011 cover of Bon Iver’s “Skinny Love” went viral when she was just fourteen years old. Her elegant stage presence and brief yet sweet set, although mostly covers including her breakout hit “Skinny Love,” were still a beautiful addition to the evening.

The pre-concert setlist set the perfect vibe, getting the crowd hyped for the main event. The energy was infectious, with everyone radiating joy and happiness. The stage design, featuring old-fashioned curtains and retro graphics in line with his album The Show, added a nostalgic touch to the experience. Niall’s entrance with the hit single “Nice To Meet Ya” was very fitting, and had the crowd moving and grooving.

Seeing Niall take the stage at a venue where I once stood front row during One Direction’s prime was incredibly special. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude for his Melbourne fans, emphasising the city’s significance to him. Having briefly lived in Melbourne post-One Direction’s breakup in 2015, and frequently visiting for extended periods due to family ties, he shared a candid moment saying, “I’ve seen many an Aus Open Grand Final in this very arena – just over there.” He admitted to feeling nervous before the show, attributing it to a sense of homecoming. Reflecting on his boyband days, he briefly mentioned, “Ah, the memories we’ve had in this city, the shows we played, the stadiums we filled…” That moment struck an emotional chord with me, to say the least!

Niall’s band were stellar, and brought a unique folky rock element to the night, especially shining during the acoustic set with “Put A Little Love On Me” and “This Town.”

“You Could Start A Cult” saw Niall take to the stage alone with his guitar- a truly raw and lovely moment. Noticing that a fan needed medical attention, he stopped the show and ensured they got help. When it was safe to do so, he restarted the song and the magic was still there- a testament to the incredible performer he is.

It is well-known that each former One Direction member usually sings one or two One Direction tracks. With the hit single “Night Changes” on his setlist for this tour, fans were shocked and over the moon when the familiar sound of the deep cut “Stockholm Syndrome” started instead. For a moment, I forgot what year it was and fully embraced my sixteen year-old self. He absolutely did the track justice, and Melbourne was treated to a really beautiful moment!

He also treated the Melbourne audience to “Paper Houses” a fan-favourite from his debut solo album, and the first time playing it live in Australia on this tour.

After engaging with fans, reading signs, and even accepting gifts, Niall returned for an electrifying encore. “Save My Life” and the hit single “Slow Hands” wrapped up the night on a high note, leaving everyone buzzing with excitement and euphoria.

The Show was a perfect blend of nostalgia, musical brilliance, and Niall’s genuine appreciation for his fans. His vocals were outstanding, stage presence was infectious and his band was next-level. Whether you’re a longtime Directioner or a new fan of Horan’s solo hits, there’s a little something for everyone at The Show.

My game recommendations

I had a reblog in my drafts folder for a couple of days to keep working on it and when I was done I saw that the original poster sadly deactivated reblogs on their post. They lovingly suggested that simmers should indulge in other games too, and I couldn't agree more. It is a special feeling to dive into a new game, learn new mechanics, and have a very different experience from the last game you played. I really put a lot of work into my answer, so I decided to make a new post for it.

I'm a simmer and a gamer (simming since 2000), gaming since 1994 or so. I used to play Everquest II way back when and dabble in Elder Scrolls Online but I quit for Baldur's Gate III which has me obsessed for months now, highly enjoyable. Sims 3 has fallen a few steps on my top 10 list in recent years, but I use it as a creative outlet anyway and do not tend to judge it against other games much. I do judge Sims 4 though, which is a sad state of affairs. I can have fun in it if I spend the time in CAS, or for the first 6 hours in a new expansion - but it's just too expensive for its little value, especially compared to other games on this list.

City Builder/Automation games:

Factory Town: super chill cozy vibe, automate logistics for your pixel-people town. Lovely game

Timberborn: build a town for cute beavers!

Farthest Frontier: a nice city simulation with some logistics and events such as raiders invading the town

Satisfactory: one of the most ambitious automation games, with amazing graphics, for people who like to puzzle, analyze/calculate, and really use their heads while gaming. I like to play it as a challenge and see how far I can take my spaghetti conveyor belts!

Frostpunk: a harrowing/grim atmosphere, dystopian, make hard choices for your town

Simulation games:

Roller Coaster Tycoon and Planet Coaster: I love building super scary rollercoasters and then riding them and trying to get people in the park to ride them too

Strategy games:

Anno 1800: I can spend my entire life in this game it feels, it is engaging and relaxing all at once - love this so much!

Action/adventure games:

Assassins Creed Origins: stunning world, super detailed visuals and fun combat mechanics

Scifi/Exploration

No Man's Sky: At first I thought this was more of a casual game, but prepare for a lot of grinding and long-ish quests. It is fun to discover new plants/creatures and name them!

Survival games:

Raft: great to play with friends too and it has a relaxed vibe but also survival mechanics that keep you engaged

The Long Dark: I love the art style and music so much, the story mode is great, the survival mode can be very challenging depending on settings and it is super immersive. Wrap yourself in a warm blanket to play 😂

Subnautica: my favorite game ever before Baldur's Gate 3 dethroned it! It is a game that will guide you to leave your comfort zone time and time again, but you choose when you feel ready for it. You can really follow your own pace and exploring the vast, beautiful, and terrifying depths of this ocean planet is absolutely immersive and filled with surprise and wonder. It has also very chill and calm base-building elements to counteract the scarier moments. The soundtrack is one of the best in terms of evoking feelings/ building atmosphere, do not turn off the sound while playing this game!!!

Storytelling games:

Life is Strange: a classic, it's fun to explore what we could change and what the consequences would be if we could go back in time.

Firewatch: very emotional and touching, leaving a lasting impression

Casual games:

Bridge Constructor Portal (the dark humor is a bonus, it's fun and trains your analytical thinking!)

Carcassonne (like the tabletop game, chill puzzle game)

Simulacra (you uncover a mystery on a phone, interesting idea!)

Retro Games:

My favorite old/retro game would be Black & White (from 2001), which I played when it originally came out, I loved it so much! The free camera was revolutionary at the time. You play a god who is powered by worshippers whom you can either provide and care for or reign terror over, and your actions decide your alignment, good, neutral, or evil. You get a creature that you can train (and will be more or less useful to your goals or disrupt them depending on how well you train it). IIRC, you can train the creature either in the story mode or sandbox/skirmish mode and then go back to story mode with a stronger creature. The mouse gestures which activate miracles in the air felt like a revolutionary new idea back then. The game is not available officially anymore, but it is downloadable from some abandonware websites and the community-made patches so it is still playable today! Writing this, I had to reinstall it right away... the nostalgia!

RPGs:

Cyberpunk 2077: it's just iconic, the city energy and car drives are nice, the story is interesting and it feels immersive

The Witcher 3: great quests and story, beautifully crafted open world

Baldur's Gate 3: I could also talk for hours about Baldur's Gate 3. If there is one game out there that everyone should have tried once in their life, it's that one. It really lets you try any strategy you want and did not actually expect to work in a video game, but in BG3, it does. Even cheaty ones like pushing enemies from a cliff or using explosives to blow stuff up. If you got surprise-attacked but have no weapon handy, you can throw a grease bottle at the enemy that can make them slip and fall, and then you can throw your burning torch at it to light everything on fire. You can stack boxes to climb up to reach something (or throw a goblin body onto someone's head, because it's perfectly normal to carry those around with you). You can be sneaky and steal stuff, even rewards from enemies. Don't like fighting? You can talk your way out of most fights if your character has the necessary skills and still complete quests that way. 95% of NPCs have something to say, and if you click them again, they will have another line. The narrator is awesome. The companions have so much character, the banter is great and every character has its own story arc and goal, the voice acting is phenomenal all around. Definitely get the talk-to-animals skill and use it on all animals, you'll have hilarious conversations! It's worth every penny, even if it's not on sale (and I hardly ever buy a game at full price, so that is saying a lot). Thanks for reading, I hope you feel inspired to try some new games! Have fun 😊

S4 Islanders Style and Aesthetic

I’ve never done those kinda things though, but I had loads of fun doing these, even if it took me all day lol😅

Obviously, I didn’t do all the characters, only the ones I could picture clearly🤷‍♀️

One thing to mention: the pictures aren’t meant to represent the characters themselves, just the outfit inspo/vibes!

🌹Of course I had to do my boo lol❤️ it was actually kinda hard to find the outfits that I see them wear, probably cos I didn’t even know how to search for what I had in mind

🌹In my mind, Will gives off boho vibes. It defo fits with their free spirit nature and being artsy. But not, like, Rocco-boho, more like, fashion-boho. So anyways, loads of loose, flowy shirts, cardigan kinda things, jewelry, patterns and stuff.

🌹I think the game does mention he dabbles in makeup and he has earrings in the final outfit, but I wish they showed more of that though :(

🌹Will defo goes thrifting, that’s where they’d get all those retro/vintage clothes

🌹Also would absolutely check out “women’s” sections too because clothes are clothes - they don’t have gender, hello!

🌹On the other hand, I feel like Will doesn’t always just constrain himself to “style”, so he probably just wears whatever he “vibes” with lol

🌹Also, whatever’s comfy for his odd jobs/painting (but still shows off the tats - so tank tops, of course, as seen in the game)

🌹And to go further, I think his apartment is also that boho-industrial kinda style. I think he’s got loads of plants, blankets laying around everywhere, patterned rugs, his bed is probably just a mattress with no headboard, but there’s lots of pillows on it.

like I said I wanna like research game graphics n how to approach mine in future, but I have sketches in procreate of the general ~vibe~ I wanna go for, esp in regards to card attributes.

Usually in rhythm games there are just three, made vague on purpose so as to fit as many themes and genres as possible per attribute. This, I think, is to limit the number of variables the devs r forced to work with.

But since this isn’t a real game I can go Pokémon on this >>>>:3 and unlike most idol games, attributes would be assigned to individual cards, not the idols themselves, due to the inspo being kpop concepts

Mature - costumes or songs with mature content (while this mostly refers to sensuality, it can also apply to things like more grown up themes - Stella Jang’s “Villain” was a main inspo)

Cute - self explanatory. Candy Pop by Twice, I’m Poppy by That Poppy, that kinda thing

Cyber - ok maybe controversial but I felt this was best for capturing both the 2000s pop “future is now” obsession and current day sci fi concepts; think Doja’s Planet Her, TLC’s Scrubs and Girl’s Generation’s Mr Taxi, Run Devil Run, etc

Dark - hnnng again, me kinda genre and aesthetic mashing here. Trying to split hairs with “horror”, “dark” and “cult” concepts was too much, so I grouped them under Dark. Think Girls by Nature or Turn off the Light by Kim Petras

Elegant - Twice’s Feel Special inspired this one, things like FH’s Deliver fit too

Fantasy - WJSN’s Save Me Save You, Black Magic by Little Mix

Teen - This one’s a huge mixed bag. It encompasses everything from Teen Crush kpop to school day themed songs and songs inspired by teen films. Crush by Weki Meki, Oogoe Diamond by AKB48 and The Feels by Twice

Powerful - self empowerment themes !! women crushing it at work themes !! Citizen Queen, Fifth Harmony, Lee Hyo Ri, Tsai Jolin and XG all have songs that correlate to this (to varying degrees)

Im not on tikok and all that so I dont thiiiink im as bad as those kids who are doing all the -core aesthetic hyperboost niches and trends, but I LOVE to distill all of the things that visually appeal to me so I can maximize them.

I love patterns with a lot of warm natural tones when im at the thrift store so im trying to create some stripe patterns that use the full range of what I consider natural tones, that in going to make a shirt with but I want it to also work as wallpaper. For representational prints I am less interested in stylization but I have many Critters I like and I love like "guide" type posters so I'm collecting pics of animals and plants based on some adaptation and locomotion lists I've been making for years and Im going to have this printed as fabric for the front half of the natural tone pattern shirt, and reuse the images to print for the wall maybe too.

Maybe the biggest category of my aesthetic (since animals are more of an interest I want to express than an aesthetic) is scifi and retro tech, and I think I could get all the elements I see and hit reblog into an animation of a crt monitor going from windows 2000, to flowerbox screensaver, to green wireframe, to hacker text, to motherboards and computer gore. Maybe I can get more random 3d object internet graphics in there. I have an all neon green on black outfit for anything edm and a windows crt cosplay suit for this vibe but I dont think I really need to convey this in clothing its more of an Image collecting aesthetic.

Kind of related to nature but Not theres 3 different "aquatic" aesthetics I like; fishing outdoorsman, tacky beach house decor, and fantasy mermaid. But I would want to convey these also without being redundant to creatures represented in the first thing, so no fish mounts or shells. So for the kinda kabit man I would want a jackalope and a singing bass, maybe a lure collection? And beach house does have some highly specific colors associated with it, and for decor theres still a lot of boating equipment you could do instead of shells. Mermaid kinda has colors associated with it but thats tricky.. but I'm gonna try to do a cute crop top in teal with delicate beading and patterns that evoke waves and scales....

I have pinterest boards for all these things I can really narrow down and probably get exactly right for decor and clothes but besides the nature stuff the other thing I always have been figuring out how to visually convey is my sense of humor like maybe I could still be a funny t shirt guy but when I see a funny shirt I'm like hmm actually a shirt could have anything so what would I have... But scrolling through my more "curated" blog and knowing I already "covered" the old web and computer stuff I decided the other major types of things I feel go there are messed up food (always been my go to), convoluted engineering, out of context diagrams, and branded products that make no sense.

Anyway I am so in here and I said im better than the everything -core crowd but actually I wanna hear if anyone has this stuff pieced out for themselves like this, I love a curated taste
