'Whether it's stealing scenes or commanding the frame, actress Emily Blunt proves time and time again that she can do it all. Drama, comedy, singing, dancing, or even narrating the heck out of a documentary, she makes it look easy. By all accounts, Blunt positively shines alongside a ridiculously talented ensemble of actors in Christopher Nolan's upcoming historical biography, Oppenheimer, playing biologist and botanist Katherine “Kitty” Oppenheimer, wife of J. Robert Oppenheimer (Cillian Murphy), aka the "father of the atomic bomb."
In Blunt's 20 years of making films, large swaths of her resume include some very choice sci-fi, fantasy, and genre films. Obviously, SYFY WIRE lives in that genre lane, so we've long admired her taste and commitment to participating in some truly memorable genre projects. And we love that Blunt consistently returns to genre projects amongst her meaty dramatic roles and more light-hearted comedies. As such, with Oppenheimer opening wide this weekend, SYFY WIRE presents our favorite Blunt genre films.
Emily Blunt's Best Roles in Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Other Genre Films
The Huntsman: Winter's War (2016)
The sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman (2012) pits Blunt's Princess Freya against Charlize Theron's Queen Ravenna, and that match-up is gold in our eyes. Essentially, the sisters aren't great at coping when dire things go down, so these messed up sisters wreak a lot of havoc in the kingdom. Per usual, Theron and Blunt pull out all the stops playing broken queens of magic, and the movie works best when they're in the frame, together or apart.
The Adjustment Bureau (2011)
Blunt and her Oppenheimer castmate Matt Damon worked together before in this under-the-radar, sci-fi gem. Blunt plays the mysterious Elise Sellas, who keeps popping up in the life of Brooklyn Congressman David Norris. The story has a lot of fun twists, turns, and themes explored regarding destiny. But their flirty chemistry is another big reason to watch.
Jungle Cruise (2021)
On the other hand, the chemistry between Blunt's Dr. Lily Houghton and The Rock's Frank Wolff in Jungle Cruise is barely tepid at best. However, Blunt returning to action-heroine mode is always a good time. Houghton's extremely competent character (and Blunt, the actress) look like their having the most fun throughout the movie.
Into the Woods (2014)
Not a lot of folks were aware that Blunt has a top-notch voice until she got to show it off beautifully playing the Baker's Wife in this adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's stage musical. She's paired with James Corden's Baker, and together they play out one of the best arcs in this cautionary tale about dreams coming true in a haunting way.
Mary Poppins Returns (2018)
Who could imagine anyone filling the spit-spot shoes of Julia Andrews as Mary Poppins? Most audiences couldn't contemplate someone being a worthy recast of Mary Poppins in Mary Poppins Returns, but then Blunt's name was announced, and everyone shut up because she just nailed it. Equal parts austere and loving, Blunt is maybe the only actress today who could so ably run with the baton given by the legendary Andrews.
A Quiet Place Part II (2020)
Blunt returns to play ultra protective, post-apocalyptic mom, Evelyn Abbott, in A Quiet Place Part II. She's just as great in this sequel, but there's less for her to play outside of the major action beats. However, if you want to get a taste of her on-screen chemistry with her Oppenheimer hubby, Cillian Murphy, there's plenty to appreciate here as Evelyn and Emmett thrown down.
Edge of Tomorrow (2014)
Much like Linda Hamilton became a bad-ass, sci-fi legend after playing Sarah Connor in Terminator 2, so too did Blunt after playing Rita Vrataski in Edge of Tomorrow. The sci-fi, time travel twister features Blunt stealing scene after scene from blockbuster poster boy, Tom Cruise. She's intense, mercurial, frightening, and heroic, and she kicks the action star's butt for half of the movie. You have to have some chops to sell that, and she does.
Looper (2012)
Poker Face creator Rian Johnson's complex time travel film, Looper, stars a trio of fantastic performances from Bruce Willis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Blunt. It's a high-concept story that remains incredibly grounded because of those performances. And Blunt still manages to standout, especially for her shattering performance as the very protective mother, Sara.
A Quiet Place (2018)
In the fantastic sci-fi, horror thriller, A Quiet Place, Blunt plays matriarch and feral mom, Evelyn Abbott. Married to Lee (John Krasinski), the couple have two kids, with another one on the way. A lovely life, except they now exist in the nightmare reality of trying to survive aliens who have landed and wiped out huge swaths of the population. Sonically-tuned to even the most subtle of noises, the aliens force the Abbotts to exist in silence. Blunt is amazing as the terrified mom, and executes the harrowing scenario of giving birth in utter silence with chilling perfection.
Check out another amazing performance by Blunt when Oppenheimer arrives exclusively in theaters everywhere this Friday, July 21. Get tickets now!'

imagine a showdown of every emily blunt character. who would be the sole winner?
i am going to be honest and say that i have been pondering this question all day. i wanted to sit and give this some thought because i wanted the answer to be just right. we are going to just include feature film roles ( none animated ), because most of her tv roles have been eh. we are also not going to consider the one short she has been in.
right off the bat emily ( devil wears prada ), harriet ( salmon fishing in the yemen ), baker's wife ( into the woods ), violet ( the five year engagement ), tamsin ( my summer of love ), girl ( wind chill ), mara ( irresistible ), valerie ( the great buck howard ), prudie ( the jane austen book club ), jane ( charlie wilson's war ), norah ( sunshine cleaning ), and elise ( the adjustment bureau ) are immediately dead. they have zero survival instincts.
the real contenders in this show down would be rita ( edge of tomorrow ), evelyn ( a quiet place ), rose ( wild target ), mary ( gulliver's travels ), sara ( looper ), kate ( sicario ), lily ( jungle cruise ), and freya ( huntsmen winter's war ). are all of these characters badass right out the gate? possibly not, but some of them prove to be resourceful enough to stick around for bit, not a long time, but a bit.
i think rita is the one taking this home though. i mean hell she is the full metal bitch after all. she has killed hundreds of mimics by herself.
Tumblr media
she was the reason that they started to mass produce the exo-suits for the udf. like?? the angel of verdun deserves the respect on her name.
sorry for that long winded answer, but yes! that is who i think would win an emily blunt character show down. yes, some of the other contenders have some points, but imagine if it was rita that still the time altering ability, no one could stand a chance.

The evidence s sitting right in front of your eyes everywhere... If you pay attention, mother nature provides the answers. Everything you need to know to level up in this "life" and the next... Mario says, "Try a mushroom... it helps!"
There are so many movies and video games that provide pointers and how to lessons if you know what to look for...
MOVIE EXAMPLES:
Looper
Infinite
The The Matrix
Back To The Future
Joe Dirt 2
Hot Tub Time Machine
The Adjustment Bureau
MIB
Flight of the Navigator
Stargate
Demolition Man
Frquency
The 5th Element
TimeCop
The Myth
The Neverending Story...
It took me a long time to figure out that I'm not the crazy one everyone seems to think I am. I just happen to have a little more insight and listen to what reveals itself to me. The natives and ancient cultures had great insight into the divine and try to teach what they know to the younger generations through stories which are now known as folklore, but it will be lost in time soon enough... Apparently if there's no physical evidence, then it "never happened"... I'm glad I figured it out with a little bit of curiosity and mushroom cocktail...

10 films i love
ty for the tag, @aerogadyne !!!!
Promare. so not to be cringe and make this my number one, but i just. absolutely adore everything about promare: it's funny, the art style is really fun, JYB and Billie Kametz (rest in peace) are there. i think the way it makes very clear, and remains quite adamant, that it is a visual story first and foremost is really fun. I LOVE the opening section, i actually think from a storytelling perspective it's so fascinatingly well done. you can see how it was inspired by the F&F series, how sure, there's a ton of pyrotechnics and shit that's there just to look cool, but there is a genuine heart underneath it that's really sweet and propels the story every single time i watch it. galo and lio are also just. such great protagonists. i adore them both so so much, great watch, 10/10
Everything, Everywhere, All At Once. One of my favorite live action films, this movie really speaks to me. I adore multiverse travel and I've toyed around with the idea of being able to exist in many universes all at once for a story, but I honestly wasn't sure it could be done. Seeing it done on screen so beautifully, so masterfully, and so coherently was just. Mwah. the symbolism was beautiful, the characters were so funny, and the tale of intergenerational wounds (what we inflict on our children is often a different version of what was inflicted on us) is poignant and thoughtfully portrayed and just. yeah. from what i understand, michelle yeoh really took this film over the top with her performance and notes to the directors, and i love how collaborative the space was. here's hoping it gets the recognition it deserves.
Looper. This movie fucks. this movie is everything i want in a sci-fi thriller, because it has so much soul. the way the movie really puts to task the idea of the masculine hero. there's a scene in this movie that just lives with me forever, because it's a scene that feels like it would belong in a gritty realistic action film, and yet it is so so sad. there's no cool music, there isn't a good reason for what happens other than it's procedure, and it physically hurts to watch. on top of that emily blunt is there and i am in love with her.
Knives Out/Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. i'm putting them together not because they're the same film but because they scratch an itch of fun storytelling within a tried and true genre. i am so compelled by stories that have such eye for detail, and i've always been particularly interested in mystery stories. i also am obsessed with the camera technique they used for Knives Out. it's beautiful and i love it so so much.
The Truman Show. also a really really cool movie, i'm obsessed with the way this semi-predicted the sensationalization of people's lives, and the parasocial relationships we now have with people we feel like we "know". moreover, i rly rly like the commentary on art and the idea of caricaturing the self and how that ultimately makes the world around you a caricature, too.
The Adjustment Bureau. one of the first movies i ever really really loved, because i was super obsessed with the idea of trying to go against forces larger than you to be with the person you love (for some strange reason. who knows what that could be. 🌈) i got so interested in how this movie worked, i watched it over and over for years, until i could quote it by rote, and then i read the screenplay because i was desperate to know how it worked. i wouldn't say this is the best movie in the world; far from it. it has this beautiful, interesting premise, but it doesn't take any risks: david and elise are a straight cis white couple with no real barriers other than unforeseen hands saying that they can't. i think there's so much potential here, though, and it's the thing that i was so interested in for so so so long.
Your Name (Kimi no Namae Wa). not to be basic but this movie made me cry a lot. i'm such a sucker for body swap shenanigans in general, on top of time travel, but i rly rly rly liked the idea of two people connecting in spite of space and time and everything to do their damndest to save each other and everyone they loved. just because they cared. i always found that to be so powerful and meaningful.
The Invitation. this is a movie i have mixed feelings about because it was an interesting film and had a lot of really lovely motifs regarding grief, but it was also a film i watched with someone who is no longer in my life. but the music in it is really melancholic and beautiful, and i rly do think it's such a massively good take on how grief is powerful to eat up not just you, but everyone around you, too.
Gone Girl. brooooo this movie was so so so good, i loved it so much, although the first time i saw it i was not a fan because i was sixteen and i had to watch the cunnilingus scene with my dad right next to me. but the second time i watched it i was alone and also 22 and so it was rly good. i just love the bait and switch. i love the evil woman. i love everything about it. fantastic.
probably does not count but the Sense8 movie was bananas and cool and beautiful and i am so sad that show did not get the five seasons it deserved, it was a really, REALLY good idea. it fucked some stuff up, but this show was so queer and unapologetic about it, and i enjoyed just how much of the show was driven by love. i rly rly did.
anyways sorry this is long and full of my rambles, but even doing this list has put into perspective just how much of the same stuff i like LOL. anywho!!! i figure i'll tag... @caffernnn, @suhmayzooka, @relationshipcrimes, @futuresoon, @kavehandtea, @honeydots, @cawfka, @floodedlungs and anyone else who might be interested!! have fun, i want to see your favorite movies if you're up for sharing <3

The Best Torrents And Downloads On Pirate Bay
The Pirate Bay Org has remained one of the most controversial and, at the same time, valuable websites in contemporary times before focusing on this website's nature, history, and legal repercussions, outlining its content, the services it provides to the users, and the legal aspects it violates.
The pirate bay, also referred to as TPB is an online Swedish-based torrent website that allows users to the copyrighted materials, including movies, software, applications, e-books, television programs, games, and music albums. It would also be apposite to highlight that the pirate bay is regarded as one of the most popular torrent websites operating out of Sweden.
Like all other torrent websites, the website has remained mired in different controversies and legal predicaments because of its pro-pirating methods. Because of the controversial nature of this site and the violation of international copyrights and piracy laws, the TPB has remained functional periodically and has confronted restrictions in most countries of the world.
This website has allowed users to upload and download the latest entertainment content without significant issues. On the other hand, it has allowed individuals to distribute files having extra large sizes.
These files usually contain games and movies, which remain the actual property of the company and are being distributed illegally online. The site has also remained the target of legal complaints from movie studios, content providers, book writers, and the music industry because of its stance on information piracy (Looper, 2014).
All these aspects make this website one of the most controversial online forums that have allowed users to download and upload the content of their choice while, on the other hand, having breached the legal elements that could ensure the safety and privacy of the content.
This paper aims to outline the history of TPB, the nature of the content that it produces, the laws that it has violated in the past, and the challenges that it confronts in the future. However, before highlighting all these elements in detail, it is essential to understand this website's history and its creators' vision at the time of its initiation.
The Pirate Bay (TPB) was founded in 2003 in Sweden by an anti-copyright group known as Piratbyrån (Bureau of Piracy), and the primary idea behind the setting up of this website was to provide an online platform for internet users where they can share and download their desired files without confronting the predicaments related to copyright infringements (Brits & TechBullion, 2022).
The individuals setting this website up included Peter Sunde, Gottfrid Svartholm, and Fredrick Neij. The thing that inspired these individuals to set up TPB was Napster, another online platform that allowed users to share and download electronic copies of different songs and music albums (Brits & TechBullion, 2022). Napster was eventually shut down in 2001.
However, it provided the individuals mentioned above with the idea that changed the face of online sharing forever. Initially, this website's founders needed a formal, organized structure at a time when Bit Torrent file sharing technology was a new concept in the online realm. The founders of TPB wanted to create and stabilize their file-sharing platform in order to assist as well as amplify the promotion of information sharing all over the world. Gottfrid Svartholm was the first individual who initiated this site in Mexico.
Later the site was moved to Sweden, where it garnered more than a million users (Brits & TechBullion, 2022). Not only that, by the end of the year 2004, the file hosted about 60,000 torrent files which prompted the founders to expand their user base and look forward to attracting users from all over the world (Brits & TechBullion, 2022).

Royal Affairs
Entry 7
I could not have been prepared when traveling to universe 700:33 that what i was about to enter was an world at the brink of extinction. The human population of the only inhabited planet nearly wiped out by an alien race called the royalty, an feline humanoid species that traveled to earth in hopes of finding an safe heaven from their dying planet. Very autonamous, they treat all life as royalty, everyone to them is a princess, prince or either such status, unless theatened. Now usually, Felicie, the looper of this universe, would make sure that humanity would survive so that they would reach their endgame to make the universe complete. This time was different. She was supposed to help the royalty conquer earth after they have been attacked by an anomalous being in control of the current goverment of the planet, an very durable, humanoid entity capable of replication (my first gueses as to the identity of this being either an Army of One or an Azmanian Hive). Its the first time i have ever heard of such an strange endgame for a universe, even when i was still at the Loopers bureau and that was about a milenia ago. Felicie already died a couple of times to it, could only describe it as an very tall man with red hair in an army uniform, doesnt speak but growls incessently. The short timeframe that the 47th ascendant gave us before all is lost wasnt long either. 1 year, 136 days, 22 hours, 13 minutes at the normal averages of 365 days per week, 24 hour days with 60 seconds. This will be tough, but hopefully i will be able to help felicie achieve her goal.
She is one of the few persons i still care about. I wouldnt want to loose her too.

Emily Blunt's 10 Best Movies
Emily Blunt’s 10 Best Movies
I think Emily Blunt is the most versatile actress in Hollywood.  There is literally nothing she cannot do and do well.  Drama, comedy, period pieces, she’s the best female action star since Sigourney Weaver, and on top of all of it she can sing and dance.  I have never seen Blunt turn in a bad performance, even if the movie she was in didn’t entirely click.  That skill set is going to allow her…
