Hot Vintage TV Women's Bracket - List of the Ladies!
As promised below is a full list of all 130 women in the Hot Vintage TV Women's Tournament! Thank you to everyone who submitted their favs!
Just a brief bit of cleanup before the list. Thank you for all the submissions. If your submission didn't make it into the bracket or some of your propaganda isn't used know that I still appreciated the submission even if we weren't able to use it. Some things got cut for being outside the bounds of the tournament, some things got cut because the links were broken, etc. Anything I wasn't sure about got brought to family and friends for a second opinion. I did my best to keep as much in as possible but some things just ended up leaning too far outside of our criteria. If you notice some stuff that seems outside the criteria slip by it's because I tried to be very generous so as long as something wasn't obviously outside of our time period or rules I usually gave it a pass.
Anyway, I am working on the bracket as we speak and apologize in advance cause I don't think there's any way to make round 1 completely painless, as you'll see we have a pretty stacked line-up so I'm excited to see how things work out! One Dress a Day Challenge
May: Purple Redux
The Avengers / Diana Rigg as Emma Peel
Emma wears this dress in several configurations in different episodes: by itself, with a matching jacket, and with a contrasting multicolored jacket. She also wears it with a variety of shoes: white mary janes (I couldn't get a good screenshot), tan slingbacks, and purple slip-ons. The dress itself is quite a basic short sundress with metal rings joining the shoulder straps to the body of the garment.
The darker purple edging outlining the matching jacket reminds me of Julie Andrews' costume from Darling Lili from just a few years later.

cliffhanger-tastic chapter 46 preview
The bandit with the crossbow emerged from the shadow of the trees. The light caught on the buttons of his prison uniform and traveled up to flash on teeth bared in a grin. As he took in Luca, the grin widened.
Hodge had made the bad mistake of crawling out of his tent. Seeing the bandit, he tried to retreat, but the crossbow swung around to point at him.
“Out you come,” said the man. “Hands over your head, now. There’s a good fellow.”
Toby stumbled out of the wood, held at crossbow-point by another bandit. Two more men emerged behind him. One was a Northman, his hair almost as pale as Luca’s. He was armed with a sword—Saunders’s sword, Luca realized belatedly. He was wearing Saunders’s boots, too.
The fourth bandit was wearing the Steward’s coat. His hands were shoved in the pockets; he swaggered out from the trees, whistling a high, bright tune. When he saw Doran, he lit up as if he’d seen an old friend.
“Doran! It’s me, Harry Riggs. We met a few weeks back. Did you miss me?”
“No,” said Doran hoarsely.
Riggs looked genuinely crestfallen. It was an act, and a mocking one, but he had the sort of elastic face that could pull itself into a convincing facsimile of any expression.
“No, he says! And after we went through all this effort to track him down. That’s no way to treat a pal.”
“Want me to shoot him?” offered the bandit whose crossbow was still pointed at Toby.
“Not yet, Murdock. Let’s hear what he has to say for himself.” Riggs turned an elastic smile on Doran. “You can start by explaining why you lied about the other slaves in your company.”
“Dunno what you’re talking about.”
“Lying again? You’re only digging the hole deeper, you know. Well, let me remind you. You told us you were traveling with two other slaves, a cook and a scribe. I assume the fellow with the ladle is the cook.”
He nodded at Connell, who’d thrown his hands up when he saw the bandits; he was still holding the ladle he’d been using to stir the pot of soup which bubbled away over the campfire.
It’s going to burn, thought Luca absently.
Stupid of him. As if the soup mattered now.
“Plausible enough,” said Riggs after a moment. “But if he’s the cook, that little barbarian is the scribe. And this is where I start to doubt your story, Doran. That boy is no scribe.”
Hodge spoke up, words tripping together in his eagerness.
“He was General Balkas’s bed-boy. The King’s before that. Check his brand.”
Connell threw the ladle at him. But it was too late. A hand came down on Luca’s shoulder. The Northman’s; it was almost as big as Ged’s. He threw Luca down as if he weighed nothing at all.
Luca landed on his hands and knees. He had only a moment to register that this was a bad position to be in before the Northman was on him, yanking his tunic up. The wind was cold on his back, but the heat of the hand tracing the brand between his shoulders offered no comfort.
“He’s got the False King’s mark,” said the Northman, breathless with excitement. He pinched the scarred skin hard enough to make tears spring to Luca’s eyes. “The stinking lily of Solas. Shame to mar a thing so fine with such an ugly mark.”
Luca bit back a gasp as the Northman shoved a knee between his legs, forcing them open. The man’s beard scraped his neck.
“Pretty little barbarian bitch,” he murmured. “This is a good position for you. Did the False King fuck you like this?”
Rough hands slid over his chest to pluck and twist at his nipples. Another knee joined the first, spreading Luca wider and forcing him to arch his back in some awful parody of invitation.
Distantly, he heard Doran shouting.
“Stop it! For gods’ sakes, stop! You can’t do this, you said you’d free us, you swore—”
“Should’ve gotten it in writing,” said Riggs with a shrug. “Besides, you lied. If we had a contract, it’s void now.”
The Northman thrust his hips forward, rubbing his crotch against Luca. Luca could feel the shape of him. He could imagine the taste, the weight of it in his throat. Already he felt it choking him.
“How’s his ass feel, Jacken?” called the bandit holding the crossbow on Toby.
“Expensive.” A thumb teased the seam of Luca’s breeches. “Wonder what it feels like from the inside.”
Doran started towards them. Riggs made a small movement; a switchblade glinted in his hand.
“Ah, ah. None of that, Doran. Stay where you are; we haven’t finished talking. And you can take that pigsticker from your belt and drop it. I don’t trust you not to try something you’ll regret.”
Doran laid his dagger down. His empty hands flexed at his sides.
“We made a deal, damn it.”
“With conditions, Doran. With conditions.”
“I did what you told me to! Saunders, the Steward—”
He broke off, realizing what he’d said.
In a low voice, Connell said, “For gods’ sakes, Dor, what did you do?”
“Go on, Doran,” said Riggs. “Tell your friend what you did.”
“I killed them,” said Doran, tearing the words out of himself. “I had to. He said—you, Riggs, you said it was a test, you said—if I wanted to be free and fight for Kenever, I had to prove it, I had to—and I did—”
“Yes, but there was a second part of the test, wasn’t there? You were supposed to bring us the two free men left in your party.”
“I couldn’t! Not when you wouldn’t tell me what you were going to do to Toby—”
“What’s so special about this Toby, then?” asked Riggs. “Is he your lover?”
“I’m his brother,” said Toby, ignoring Doran’s muffled noise of surprise. “He might not like me very much, but he still likes me too much to kill me.”
“Brothers, eh? That explains a thing or two.” The knife flickered over Riggs’s knuckles in a lazy figure-eight. “Too bad you’re not my brother, Toby. I certainly don’t like you too much to kill you.”
The bandit holding the crossbow on Toby drew back the arrow. The click was so loud it jolted Luca’s heart, as if the arrow had lodged there.
“Wait, for gods’ sakes!” Doran shouted. “He’s important, I swear to you. His father—our father was Duke of Chesten.”
This was enough to distract Jacken from rubbing off against Luca’s ass.
“That means his mother’s Princess Amelia. Riggs, that’s Kenever’s half-sister!”
“I know,” said Riggs shortly. His mouth was turned down at the corners. He narrowed his eyes at Toby. “So I’m to believe you’re Kenever’s nephew.”
“I am,” said Toby—and oh, he was so brave; his voice only trembled a little. “Kenever came to our house once. Mother was terribly rude to him. I thought he was nice, though, even if his mother was from Guye.”
“That tracks,” said Jacken. “Amelia’s a bitch, by all accounts, and she hates the True King.”
“Then again,” said Riggs, “he could be lying.”
“He’s not lying, I swear to you,” said Doran. “On my life, I swear it.”
Riggs’s mouth lengthened into something like a smile.
“On your life, eh?”
“He gave me a coin,” said Toby quickly. “Kenever, I mean. A very old coin from Guye. It’s in my pack, in the pocket with the geometry proofs and the mouse skeleton.”
One of the bandits rifled through Toby’s pack. He produced the coin, along with the proofs, the skeleton, and some very odd mushrooms. The mushrooms he discarded with a grimace. The coin he flipped to Riggs, who studied it before shrugging.
“He could’ve gotten this anywhere,” he said, tucking the coin into his pocket. “It doesn’t prove anything.”
Toby’s cry of “Then give it back, you thief!” was drowned out by Doran bellowing, “What more do you want, you murdering bastard? Scald the land, he’s a prince, I tell you!”
Riggs made a sign. The bandit who’d pointed his crossbow at Luca swung it round to point at Doran. There was a click as the arrow notched into place.
The clearing went still.
“Ah, what a shame you keep making trouble for yourself, Doran,” said Riggs, clucking his tongue. “Now it’s time to choose.”
“Choose what?”
“You or Toby. One of you leaves here alive. Your choice.”
Doran didn’t hesitate.
“Me,” he said. “Kill me.”

Phoebe bites back a laugh, a smile tugging at her lips as she sits at her desk. She clasps a hand over her mouth, staring down at the Geometry test in front of her.
"Is something funny, Ms. Spengler?" The teacher asks, having noticed her very obvious reaction.
"No, no, sorry" She quickly replies, composing herself as music plays in her head.
"There is something wrong with you, soulmate. I'm taking a test! I can't focus to Sabrina Carpenter" She thinks, wishing you could hear her. She telepathically sends a song she knows back just for moments like this, subtly rolling her eyes.
Why she even knew Fuck You by Lily Allen was a conversation for another time, but now it blares in your brain, distracting you from your work. You roll your eyes, as you'd deserved this, assuming your soulmate was probably trying to focus on their work.
"Fine, you don't like Nonsense? Take Espresso on repeat" You think, switching up the track halfway through.
Phoebe quietly exhales, switching your song to Better by Khalid, wanting to communicate that this was much better and she could actually focus now. She looks back down at her test, quickly jotting down the pythagorean theorem on her paper.
You take this as your well-deserved apology and smile, kind of wishing she picked a better song. You're able to turn the volume down, and she luckily turns it off so you can focus on whatever you were doing. You didn't ask her to do it, but it was probably the best idea to do so.
You tune into her brain again near the end of the period, where Espresso is still being played on loop. You chuckle.
"She must like it"
You decide to play a song, wanting to be a little detective and figure out who you've been playing around with for six years now. You had a will and a way, who was to say you were cheating love?
What's Your Name by Lynyrd Skynyrd caught Phoebe off guard by a long shot. She realizes that maybe you're asking her a question or are maybe trying to taunt her.
She plays you What's My Name? by Rihanna, trying to show that she caught onto the title but was a bit confused.
You play Yeah! in reply, happy she even answered in the first place. She nods, playing Waiting Room by Phoebe Bridgers.
It takes you a moment but you're able to piece together what her name was, definitely not Waiting Room, but Phoebe. Maybe Bridgers, probably not however.
You play My Name Is... then after about a minute, switch to a song with the same name as you, Y/n.
She plays Get It Sexyy, trying to joke around with you after the big reveal of your name. You smile and giggle as you lean against the bus window. Tyler The Creator's See You Again plays for her as the busses take you home.
You leave her with an accomplished smile to match yours. She'd honestly been too shy to try and ask your name all these years, so now she felt a little proud of you for asking for hers.
"My soulmates name is Y/n. I don't even know a Y/n"
"You don't know anyone"
Podcast and Phoebe sit in Ray's Occult Books, lounging on one of the couches as they talk. Ray is polishing jewelry under the counter, half way listening to their conversation.
"Who do you know that's named Y/n?"
"Y/n Riggs?"
"A funny Y/n," Phoebe clarifies, not wanting to imagine that her soulmate was some asshole. She knew it was just someone with the same name as you. "They're a walking Spotify playlist, Y/n Riggs doesn't have shit for a music taste"
"Y/n L/n?" Podcast asks, "That's the only other Y/n I know of"
"I don't know them" Phoebe sighs
Podcast shrugs, "I can introduce you to them? I have like, three classes with them"
Phoebe nods with a little smile, picking up a book and opening it to hide her excited grin.
"Remind me on Monday"
While you sit in class, Phoebe plays you Fainted Love by Conan Gray, almost like she knew you were just working on an essay in silence. Podcast, who sits next to you in that class, waves to Phoebe as she awkwardly walks into the class.
He'd asked the teacher if she could come down, seeing as she had a study hall at this time, and the class was gifted a free period / study hall for the day.
You didn't know Phoebe at all, well, kind of. She was a Ghostbuster which you'd seen on TV here and there, but you didn't really know her that well. She sits behind Podcast in the empty desk, where he turns around to talk to her for the next half hour.
You hear the two whispering but pay no mind, enjoying the Conan Gray playing in your head. You doodle on the side of your paper the title of the song, giving it a cool little font to fit the vibe of the song, which the curly haired girl sees.
You see in your head, or invision, that Phoebe didn't have any music playing at the moment, and decided to play her a song that you liked. Pink Floyd's Breathe plays in her mind on a low volume, and she can't help but direct her gaze towards you as Podcast speaks to her.
Luckily, just about everyone else in the class was talking loud enough that his soft-spoken voice couldn't be heard, but he made sure to be careful next to you.
Clairo's Hello? plays in your head, catching your attention. You sit up straight in contrast to your half-slumped position before and furrow your eyebrows.
You look over at Podcast and Phoebe, already looking at you. You quickly change Phoebe's song to Is It Really You? by Loathe, and she lightly smiles, the corners of her lips slowly turning upwards.
You awkwardly smile and wave at her as she returns the wave while Podcast next to her smiles widely, wanting to cheer loudly, but obviously doesn't in the small classroom. You can see the look of adoration in her eyes as she looks at you, her eyes glimmering like she fell in love at first sight.
A song plays in both of your heads, not instructed by either of you, Something New by Tokio Hotel.
Podcast giggles, tapping Phoebe's desk twice. "I'm gonna run to the cafeteria and get a drink, have fun, lovebirds"
As he walks away, Phoebe speaks. "I'm Phoebe, I think I'm your soulmate"
"I'm Y/n, nice to meet you, soulmate"

1: Do they sleep with a stuffed animal? If they have multiple, who’s their favorite?
I don’t think Riggs sleeps with any, but he definitely has some in his possession. I like to think that he has two- one being a teddy bear from Lily which he keeps on proud display wherever he lives! The other being a small, old stuffed rabbit toy he found while returning to hopeville, which he keeps safely tucked away in his bag.
8: Do complex puzzles intrigue or frustrate them?
ooooh. I think it’d depend on the type of puzzle. Riggs is the kind of dude who just wants to take the path of least resistance. If it’s something like a jigsaw puzzle he’ll find it fascinating! If it’s more like a riddle though, he’ll quickly become frustrated.
17: Do they like children?
I already answered this for Riggs so I’m gonna answer for Ghast and Alex!
Ghast surprisingly does! She’s aware that her appearance will scare most of them, but the ones who try to be nice or show curiosity towards her she’ll be patient and gentle with.
Alex… not so much. It’s not that she DISlikes kids, it’s more that she doesn’t really know what to do with them, and they tend to break things or make them messy, or they ask too many questions while she’s busy. She’s fine watching one or two at a time, but she can’t really juggle more than that.
29: What recurring dreams do they have?
Murmured laughter carried on the wind, a warm touch, someone’s smile illuminated by the glow of a bonfire. The gentle, somber melody of a harmonica flowing through the air. Someone calls his name- at least he thinks it’s his name. It feels right. The taste of cinnamon and peppers dance on his tongue, while the smell of fresh hay wafts on the breeze. Someone calls his name. A thunderstorm rolls in. The air is thick with rain, and his clothes stick to him like a second skin. His eyes burn. His throat aches. Someone calls his name. The sun beats down on him. The bitter taste of coffee fills his senses. His legs ache but he continues walking. The rumbling crash of a distant explosion rattles his rib cage.

Riggs wakes up, memories that were once his own slowly fading away as he rises and prepares for the day.

Opinions on Millard x Lily
Spoilers from “Map of Days” (4th book of “Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children”) and mention of “Hollow City” (2th book)
When I saw Millard liking Lily and she implying that she also likes him, I thought it would be like the movie “Mon ange”, in which Angel is invisible and falls in love with Madeleine, a girl who, being blind, doesn't notice Angel's invisibility. However, Ransom Riggs breaks expectations and reveals that Lily is not completely blind and that the remnant of vision she has is enough for her to be aware that Millard is invisible. I liked this revelation, because it takes away the impression that Lily's blindness is what allows Millard to be truly loved.
Another aspect I noticed is that, if we switch to Millard's perspective, the couple seems to be less happy. As we already know, Millard's peculiarity cannot be controlled, that is, he cannot stop being invisible. And that makes living in a society of normals extremely difficult for him. If he wants to be seen without his peculiarity being discovered, he needs to cover himself from head to toe, leaving no skin exposed. Therefore, his chances in love are much lower compared to other characters in the book. Even Jacob, on page 176 of “Hollow City”, says “But, after all, what chance would someone like him have with a normal girl?”! That is, Millard was only interested in Lily because he saw her as his ONLY chance at love, just as Jacob had said on page 336 of “Map of days”: “It was obvious that he liked the girl and did not want to abandon the fantasy he had fed in the last few hours - that he was just an ordinary boy who might, who knows, have a chance with her”. This makes Millard's love for Lily quite tragic indeed! And I think this tragic love would also be a problem in fanfics about Millard with an OC (original character) - especially if the OC has a peculiarity related to seeing invisible things or people -, unless it specifies in the fanfic that he already had other relationships before being with the OC or that there are or have been other characters attracted to Millard.
I wish they had explored this less beautiful side of Millard's love. It would be very interesting, don't you think?

It was surprisingly quiet in the Fortress. Lily was not aware how used to she was living on the ocean, the feel and sounds, until the constant vibration stopped. It was still, stable and quiet. Almost alarmingly so before Lily remembered that Riggs could play music. There was now something always on in the garden-greenhouse level that was Lily's new home area. Nothing offensive or really loud, but low music and nature sounds in the garden proper.
It helped immensely to keep that stillness, and in turn the intrusive thoughts at bay.
Not so much with the restlessness though.
Even with how Lily had been slowed down by the apocalypse, she had still been mostly active on the sea platform. The walk up to the galley was a good low impact… mess hall? Just a kitchen?
What was the proper term to use in regards to a space born, castle like Fortress of… doom?
Even if Lily had to take it slow in her walks and take breaks, it was really nice that she could more or less breathe again. Not be so dependent on the mask and tank of meds and pure oxygen. Not that Lily had that set up right now, but a new mask was being made for her. Vega had the information on the medication mix and was sure he could improve it. Or improve the dispenser?
Who knew being drowned in healthy would work?
Lily only partly forgave the big guy for that.
"Riggs- wait I'm out of that section, Vega?" Lily asked as she walked, still getting used to the layout of what areas of the Fortress that were open.
"Yes, miss Lily?" The AI was prompt to answer, sometimes it seemed like he was happy to have someone else who actually not only talked to him, but also needed to keep asking random questions.
"I'm on the right track to the galley?" Lily asked, glancing down the sling her right arm was in, as well as the stuff she had put in there. Still impressed how whatever painkiller that was used kept that whole shoulder numb for a little over a day. At first Lily had been wary as the massive man held her arm and pricked the needle in her right arm the first time.
She was learning despite the Slayer's bulk, he was surprisingly gentle and nimble with his fingers.
"Yes you are, stay in this hall. It'll be to your left."
"Question for you," Lily gave in.
"Yes?"
"Is it a 'galley,' or something else the proper term?"
"Either galley, kitchen or mess hall. The terms will work interchangeably," Vega helpfully supplied. "Except for the kitchen proper. Are you going to be making something with the fish you thawed out?"
"Yeah," Lily smiled, carefully pulling out the squash out of the sling to lift and show the AI, assuming there were cameras he could see even if she was able to spot them all yet. "Got my first big spaghetti squash to harvest! I'm going to make something tasty."
"I can not wait to see the result." Vega was nice how he was encouraging all the time.
"I have another question," Lily paused to catch her breath, leaning on the wall while putting the squash back in her center of gravity. "Does…. Does the big guy ever eat? I know I'm not around him a lot the last few days. Or well, when in the… stasis pod. I don't think I've seen him eat or drink."
"He is capable of eating, but does not seem to need to do so nearly as much as you would think someone of his mass would." Vega understood her confusion completely it seemed. "I believe it's due to the amount of Argent energy, hell energy and wraith energy saturation the Slayer has."
"Does he hydrate?" Lily asked, confused.
"Oh yes. The Slayer is very good about staying hydrated." Vega assured, leaving out that the man had to, to keep up with the blood loss sometimes.
"If I made a plate for him, would he come eat?" Lily was back to walking, finding what was a mess hall, a long dining room like area, as it was currently this was the only way to get into the kitchen proper. She was not sure where the Slayer was to be honest. He had gone planet side a day ago to look for something, and Vega had warned her that sometimes the missions were anywhere from a few hours to forty eight hours. 'At least.'
There was a new addition in the kitchen, making Lily smile as she saw the step by one of the back counters. She nudged it, finding the boxy step was solid but not so heavy she could not scoot it around.
Some things were fairly universal in kitchens though, between humans and those that made the Fortress. Argenta?

September 15 & 16, 2022.
Cold Waves X. It was a four-month wait from purchase to admission. I owed it to myself to go because goddamn it I’m a fucking industrialist. How should I even miss an opportunity to go to Brooklyn’s Warsaw and be around my type of people that are almost non-existent on Long Island? Plus, Paul Barker, Chris Connelly, and Front 242 would be there. It would be the third and final show of the year I’d attend, capping off a amazing run that started with Boy Harsher in April and continued with Sacred Bones 15th Anniversary (May).
Never had I traveled to New York City on back-to-back days. But the money spent on tickets and round-trip train fare was doubly worth it. I was met with two almost-perfect days of blue skies, white clouds, and nice leveled temperatures. Two days of driving westward on the Long Island Expressway, down Sagtikos Parkway, through Southern State to Rt. 231, and heading south to Rt. 27A to the Babylon stop to Penn Station with alphabet and number lines back and forth to boot, followed by breezy night drives down 27A and Sunrise Highway / Rt. 27 at 3AM. A sense of perfect pitch-black quiet and normalcy waited at the end as a response to two days of unforgettable acts.
No journey to Brooklyn and back wasn’t without being drenched in heavy sweat traversing through subway lines, race-walking on the broken concrete, and standing in one spot for five hours. I’d meet an older gentleman in his Seventies who, like me on Friday’s half, wore a Killing Joke shirt. His debut album to my “Turn To Red”. I’d meet some pretty interesting characters at the stations including a Tommy Conte look-a-like smootching his boyfriend, an Asian girl in a purple dress who’s thigh was bloodied and bandaged, hot wicked pale leatherettes, and a boyfriend who boarded the ‘E’ line with his girlfriend who was literally covered with deep red hickeys from neck to chest.
It was an event incomparable to the Sacred Bones’ showcase before it, or the ten-hour endurance test that was Hospital Productions’ 20th Anniversary. A double-headed victory, nonetheless. And I have the tracklist to prove it:
