To celebrate RAINBOW!'s release today, I'm going to go over all the daydream references that have been made so far, since it's fun for me to sneak them in 💖 there's a lot of them though, so it's gonna be under the cut!

Episode 1-- Kiki's Delivery Service and E.T.! People focus on the Kiki reference so much that the other seemed to be missed.

Episode 2-- Princess Serenity and Prince Endymion, Sailor Moon. Another one obvious enough to be called out in some comments. It was referenced again in episode 54, where this panel was taken from.

Episode 5-- Marceline, Adventure time. One of the few reference that isn't an outfit specifically, but a character.

Episode 11-- Revolutionary Girl Utena. Not necessarily supposed to be the characters themselves, just the outfits.

Episode 11-- Minako Aino, Sailor Moon. In hindsight, I don't remember why I chose this specific dress to reference and not the maid outfits from Sailor Stars or the fruits maid outfits from the manga... especially since I think the fruits maid outfits are adorable.

Episode 11-- Catra, She-Ra reboot. I kind of regretted this one immediately just because like 80% of the comments on the episode were "CATRA SUIT!!!" as a result...

Episode 18-- Sailor Moon manga. I was always intrigued by the way characters would be dressed in dreamlike/ethereal sequences in the manga, so this reference was a must for me. I went with the version that is a full dress with straps rather than the dresses from other moments in the manga that have no discernible top half.

Episode 30 and 31-- Not a reference to any specific film or character, but just film noir in general. I do remember referencing a female character specifically for this but sadly I couldn't find it again.

Episode 40-- Pomeranian scene, IT Chapter Two. Surely you saw this coming (or maybe not?) I don't think I got the camera angle good enough to really sell this reference, but I couldn't resist it anyways.

Episode 43-- Adult Losers, IT Chapter Two. The only reference besides Marceline that references the characters themselves, since I normally use our other characters for background character purposes. Also one of the only references that isn't a daydream.

Episode 54-- Disney's Snow White and Cinderella. I couldn't decide which to reference, so I ended up leaning mostly into Cinderella, but referenced the Evil Queen's crown as well. Boo's dress is also somewhat referenced from the the live action Cinderella dress instead of the animated version, just because I liked it.

Episode 54-- Treasure Planet and Treasure Planet 2 concept art. Treasure planet is one of my favorite movies, so there was no way I was missing out on referencing it. A few people brought up some wlw pirate webcomic(s?) in the comments of this episode, but the actual reference seemed to be mostly missed. The sash around Boo's waist is also meant to be fabric from her princess dress in the previous panels.

Episode 54-- Revolutionary Girl Utena. Another one I was kind of surprised wasn't called out just because of how iconic the whole clothed shadow/silhouette thing is.

Episode 55-- Saint Tail. I couldn't reference this one as closely as I would have liked since it probably wouldn't have been very readable as a magician's costume to someone who didn't know it, so it mostly references the brooch from the anime and her hat.

Episode 61-- Jane Fonda in Spirits of the Dead. A super random and out there reference, especially to end on, but I liked the outfit so much that I couldn't help it. Maybe Boo used to fall asleep to old movie channels, lol.

That's it, at least for now! We'll have to see what shows up in future episodes~

"How long have you been wandering out here?"

There may yet have been a spot of luck for Toki! Being out in the Forest of Magic wasn't the most ideal situation for the average human.

Though there were a few safe spots, it was mostly a dangerous place. Maybe this person needed some guidance?

"Have you lost your way?"

The cafe had become settled now. Being spirited away had seemed inconceivable but within the few months that followed it had almost become routine. For Kiki it may have been a challenge but a land of fantasy was just where Toki had always wanted to be.

He had heard tell of a forest of witches from those clients that dwelled at the foot of the mountain. For a normal human and scholar, human magicians were far easier to connect to than youkai. His first journey into the mystical forest had been a disaster. He was paralyzed the entire day, thankfully a friendly sparrow took him back to the cafe. To think anyone could live around such toxic fungi.

He had no idea why there was a gas mask in the cafe's storage but it proved functional enough. He believed this second journey would be far more fruitful. The only fruit it bore was more tragedy, as he found himself lost amid twisting woods. Were trees supposed to get this big in Japan?

Suddenly a voice drew his attention. He turned to face the other, raising his walking staff to point towards them.

"Stop! I am under the protection of the Mori-"

... Oh wait. This was not a youkai threatening to eat him. They looked human. humanish. Tough to see through the mask. Well they don't have any protection, must be safe here. A hand raises. There is a metallic click as he removes the mask. Now that he can see clearly, the bear ears suggest human isn't quite apt. Still, he seems friendly enough.

"You can't lose what you never had, my friend!"

Inspired by the movie and novel "Who framed/ censored Roger Rabbit?!" And Chowder

In preparation for more Fatui Harbingers x reader stuff.

Creation! Reader x modern! Fatui Harbingers (platonic? Idfk, might be torn into separate fics, like Yandere, dessert or something)

Tags: fantasy/realism, some hidden violence(?, Dottore's in here), fluff(?), Innuendos, hints racism/disability (?) Using fem reader (but you can change it up), magical bunny assistant reader.

Imagine you're not realistic, I mean. You popped into Phantasia, a city for creations like you. Yep, that's right, you're a drawing! After you've been created. You don't fit the criteria of a drawing, how you walk the talk is a kin to a regular person. You're neither.

You aren't bound to the laws of human physics. You can bend in unimaginable positions that weren't possible, fold, electrocute, hell. You can jump off a cliff and you won't die. Still you bleed and get bruises from it before a few shake offs.

One of the things you didn't like about yourself is that you're an assistant bunny girl in a magician's suit. And yes, you do have stockings. Most people can't take you seriously when you tell them you looked up to Betty Boop. You'll show them, and rub it in their faces that a deformed 'creation' like you could have their own show!

No entertainment programs could accept you due to your humane features, you weren't eye catching enough. Nor do you do funny gags consistently enough to retain children's attention for a good amount of time like other regular normal cartoons like Tom and Jerry, SpongeBob, Looney toons or maybe even Disney's toons. But children's educational programs allowed you to star in their shows. Even if you also attracted adults to the program when you didn't mean to. As long as you're being paid, not in peanuts like dumbo the elephant and the others.

But there is a particular group of people you aren't that much aware of in the entertainment industry. Today you're supposed to air in other countries like in Snezhnaya. You're acutely aware of them, but as a creation you have nothing to do with it. And besides you got kids to teach!

Occasionally, you get to meet other people. Like this child named Teucer who's been your fan since the show aired. At the convention, you're here for a meet and greet with some fans, of course all of them are lovely like him. Alongside is his brother Tartaglia who watched your show with Teucer.

Soon, someone from the entertainment industry proposed to you to let you have your own show like your own show, with its own educational flair. Though you owe everything to the first educational program you've entered, it feels rather scary that they offered a position that pays well and higher exposure.

In the end, you stayed with your program until the series finale when your partner, Kiki the protagonist, has grown up to be a fine woman. Often she comes to you for help.

So right now with income gone, left jobless. With merchandising still going strong and passively giving you some retirement funds.

Thinking about that little boy named Teucer. You dabbled into a side gig of being an entertainer at parties. And of course your first customer would be the little ginger boy at his birthday party.

You entertained guests with neat tricks and gave all fun games and rewards for anyone who participated.

Except for one kid who you couldn't cheer up. An indigo haired boy in a formal suit. Whenever you looked at him, he made a deeper frown than the last.

You discovered his name is Scaramouche and was forced to go to this 'kid's birthday party'. So you tried to cheer him up with fun party tricks like being in two places at once, though it drains you to do that.

Teucer's older brother Childe seemed to be interested and asked for your phone's number.

It lead to multiple meetups like at the park or even at Phantasia. There you met some of his other friends like Mr. Capitano, Ms. Signora. The latter had given you great tips on how to sound better when singing.

Columbina and Arlecchino are an odd bunch, since they just gave you some treats and sweets, then left. But you recognize the maiden anywhere, she licensed your studio's theme song and soundtracks. So you're lucky to even see her.

Meanwhile this 'Doctor' person kept asking you out on 'dates' to quote on quote to 'investigate' further. But of course he was stopped by a high ranking socialite Mr. Pantalone.

This boss person, you could have sworn you've met somewhere before in your life. Him and creations don't mix like water and oil but after meeting you, he just tolerates you since you aren't as wacky as the other creations from Fantasia's studios or something of the like. He somewhat finds it odd to know that you worked in the education program instead of-... Nope nevermind!

A Magician's Lament Chapter 3 Preview 2

“Alright let’s get this crap over with.” says the Magician.

Meanwhile Alice goes downstairs to see her grandma. “Hello there sweetie”

“GRANNY” Alice runs to her grandmother to give her a big hug.

“Are ya ready to go camping into the woods?”

“YES YES YES I CAN’T WAIT!! Wait what about Jr.?

“I’m not sure if he’s ready to go out in the world yet” Alice’s father says. “Maybe when he gets older than we’ll see”

“Alright c’mon c’mon I wanna go now.” Alice runs outside.

“Woah Alice she just got here. Let’s not try and rush things here Debby just got here.” Says Alice’s father.

“Oh c’mon David let the girl be excited.” Debby says

“Now Alice remember to not go too deep into the woods without grandma and try not to disturb animals or get yourself hurt.”

“Ok, granny. Bye mommy bye daddy.”

“Bye Alice”

“Have fun out there” Alice gives her parents kisses on the cheek.

“Here Alice you can put your toys in this bag here and I’ll put them in the back of the truck”

“Oh thanks grandma. Can I keep my dolly?”

“Of course you can.” Debby puts Alice’s toys in the back of the truck with all the camping supplies.

Meanwhile the Magician is up on the roof. “Alright, I just need to figure out how to get down from here.”

The Magician climbs down the roof but realizes that it’s a bit too high. He tries to climb back up but to no avail.

“C’mon…. Oh poo.” The Magician fails to keep a hold of his grip and falls onto the solid ground face first.

“Ahhhh ACK! Ugh.” The Magician gets up from the ground and see’s Debbie’s truck.

“There it is now I just gotta get on the back of the truck.” The bunny runs up to the back of the truck only to realize that he’s way too short to climb it.

“Are you freaking kidding me? I can't climb that.”

Alice looks behind the truck to see the Magician try to get on the back of the truck.

“Hey, you need help getting up there?”

“What no?! I can do it myself.” The Magician puts his hat down and gets on top of it. He tries to jump in but he can only grab onto the back.

Alice, not wanting this to take so long, pushes the bunny into the truck and throws his hat in too. “

Your welcome” Alice says with a happy look.

“Shut it” The Magician says annoyed.

Alice goes up to the front of the truck and sits on the second seat with grandma.

“You ready to go dear”

“Of course I am grandma”

“Alright let’s roll” Debby starts the truck and drives off.

“GAH! Who the hell is driving up there?!” The Magician says as he tumbles a bit since there’s no seatbelt on the back of the truck. “Oh-OH GOD ACK!!” The truck starts speeding up pulling the bunny backwards. “Grrr this better not last long.”

*A couple minutes later*

“So Alice how have you been”

“Pretty good, you?”

“I’m doing fine deary. Just doing the same old stuff like watching tv and taking good care of kiki.”

“I’ve been taking care of my dolly too, isn’t that right dolly.”

“I love you mommy” says Alice’s doll. Both Alice and her grandma chuckle for a bit.

“By the way, how is school going for you?”

“I’m doing very well. I’m getting good grades and just having a lot of fun.” “Have you been making any friends at school?”

“Uhh…yeah…yeah I’ve got friends.”

“Really, what are their names?” Alice stays silent for a couple of seconds.

“Umm…. I forgot.” She says nervously

“Really? How long have you known them to not know their names?”

“Can we talk about something else right now plz.”

“Oh sorry dear. I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable.”

“It’s fine granny.”

“What about the family? How's that going?”

“Mommy and Daddy are doing well. We’ve done a lot of cool things like watching movies, going to parks exct. Jr. is pretty much the same adorable baby but he might be able to talk soon.”

“That’s great to know.”

In the back of the truck the Magician is bored as hell.

“Ugh this is taking forever. I bet if I was driving (and had longer legs) we would’ve been there by now.” The Magician tries to find ways to make himself less bored. He sticks his head out to let the wind hit him. Alice looks at the side view mirror and sees the bunny sticking his tongue out. Alice chuckles a bit.

“Now what are you laughing about?”

“Oh nothing, just thinking about something funny in my head.”

Unfortunately it doesn’t take long for the Magician’s hat to fly off thanks to the wind.

“Hey hey WOAH!!” The Magician quickly grabs his hat. “HA! Woah woah AH!! The bunny loses this balance and almost falls off the truck. He has one hand holding on for dear life.

“OH OH GOD OH HELL!!”

Alice looks back at the mirror to see him dangling on the side of the truck.

“*Gasp*”

“Something wrong sweety?”

“I-I um…was looking at a beautiful deer in the trees. It was so pretty that I gasped.”

“Aww that’s cute.” Alice quickly looks back to see if the Magician is ok.

“*GRUNTING* AHH ERR AHH”

“Please pull up please pull up please pull up”. Alice whispers to herself.

Before the Magician could lose his grip the truck hits a bump on the road.

“GAH…Oh hey I’m back on the thing. WAH OH ACK WOAH.”

“WOAH Granny!?”

“Hope you got your seatbelt sweety, it’s gonna be a bumpy ride” The road becomes more bumpy and the stuff in the back starts jumping along with the Magician Rabbid.

“WAAAAAH ACK OOF AHH HURP BLEH DAAAAAH''

*A couple of more minutes later*

Alice, Debby, and the Magician Rabbid are getting close to the woods.

“C’mon when is this gonna end already. ACK, CAN THE PERSON UP THERE PLEASE DRIVE OFF THE BUMPY ROAD!!”

The road gets more bumpy as the truck gets closer to the woods.

“Alright we’re here Alice, now we just gotta find a good spot.” Alice chuckles in excitement.

“YES HAHA, This is gonna be the best camping trip ever.” The Magician is still complaining in the back.

“HEY WHERE THE HELL IS THE YOGURT BACK HERE?! I’M FREAKING STARVING HERE!!”

Suddenly a big bump hit the truck launching the Magician off the vehicle.

“AHH AHHHHHHHHHHHH” Alice looks back to check the to see him fall off.

“AH! Oh no.”

“Alice, what happened??”

“Something fell off the truck.”

“WHAT!?” Debby quickly stops the truck in the middle of the woods. They both get out of the truck to see if anything fell out.

“Alice, are you sure something fell out cause it seems like everything is in place.”

“Yeah I swear I saw something fly out.”

“Maybe something just jumped and landed back in.”

“Can I see just in case.”

“Well…sure why not.” Debby lifts Alice up to see all the stuff on the truck.

“Oh….I guess nothing fell out I guess.”

“Well since we already stopped I guess we could camp on this spot right here.”

“Wait really?”

“Yeah it looks beautiful enough right?” Alice looks around to see beautiful trees, the greenest of grass, the blue sky and glorious water in the distance.

“You're right it is a beautiful spot.”

“Alright now we gotta set up our spot”

Debby starts to grab all of the camping stuff from the back of the truck. Alice takes advantage of this as she checks the Magician Rabbid is ok. The purple bunny walks over to the girl clearly unamused.

“Hey are you ok?”

“Oh don’t act like you care” The Magician says walking away from her. Alice picks up the Rabbid.

“Hey let me go you twit”

“Shhh you can’t let granny see you. She really hates Rabbids and if she sees you she will eat you alive. Metaphorically of course. Just stay behind me ok.”

“Just stay behind me ok” The Magician says, mocking the girl.

“Hey granny can I walk around the woods for a bit while I wait for you to get the camping stuff ready.”

“Sure dear just don’t go too far ok.”

“Don’t worry granny I won’t.” Alice looks back at the Magician.

“C’mon let’s go” Alice says, grabbing the Magicians arm and running to the woods

“Woah hey” The Magician says, getting his arm off Alice’s hand. “I can walk by myself , thank you very much.”

“Oh umm sorry I’m just excited to go through the woods that’s all.”

Alice skips to the woods with the Magician walking behind her. She hums a little tune with a happy smile on her face while the bunny looks at her once again with a stern look while crossing his arms. They both look around the woods seeing the beautiful trees, plants, and the bright blue sky.

“Hey, Earth to Rosa,” Kiki snaps her fingers in front of your pensive face that is, once again, lost in thought. “Are you listening?”

You let out a sigh, then apologize to your friend who noticed that you’ve been out of it for the entire day. “Sorry about that,” you murmur as you take another sip of coffee, your small voice rendered almost inaudible by the bustle of activity and excited conversations inside the office pantry. “Just a little stressed out.”

You manage to crack open a smile for the sake of your worried friend. “But don’t worry, I’m almost done with most of my work for today.”

Kiki’s brows furrow. “You’ve been like this for a week now. Do you even relax at home?”

You are about to tell her the usual white lie, but right now you are just too tired to concoct one on the fly. “Not really, no,” you groan, lips perched onto the rim of your coffee cup. “I still take some work home. But I’m about to finish anyway…I think I’ll spend tonight eating ice cream and just go to sleep.”

“Ehhh. I guess that’s a plan?” Kiki says with a little misgiving, but leaves it at that.

And after you part ways towards your respective work cubicles Kiki pulls out her smartphone, sending a text to someone you don’t know she had been in regular contact with, as part of his pursuit to understand the seedier parts of pop culture.

An hour later, as you slump over your work desk you receive a text message from your erstwhile close friend, now elevated to the status of your lover:

And so by six in the evening, the appointed time you seat yourself by the gazebo set right in the middle of Vyn’s prized garden; you choose the wrought iron chair facing the sunset thatis slowly melting into a deep orange all over the low horizon.

Vyn: Good day, Rosa. Are you free this afternoon?

Rosa: Yeah. I’ve wrapped up most of my work for today. Do you need anything?

Vyn: I would like to invite you to my place later, to celebrate a small occasion. Is it possible for you to wait for me by the garden at six in the evening? I shall meet you there.

Rosa: Sure! Should I bring anything?

Vyn: No need. Come as you are.

It’s going to be a pleasant evening, you realize, with the cloudless sky and balmy evening air. What a way to wind down and relax.

Vyn is still nowhere to be found, not that you need to find him; he did say to wait for him there in his garden. In the meantime you while away your time with admiring the beautiful view that surrounds you: roses of myriad colors in full May bloom, bathed in a soft sunset orange glow.

Everything looks romantic. Your lips curl into a small smile, in anticipation for what Vyn has in store for you.

It seems to be a big coincidence that he invited you over tonight, when your evening is finally cleared of any urgent work and when you are in dire need of relaxation.

Sometimes, you think as you straighten your skirt, he does seem to be a mind reader.

You are in the middle of indulging yourself with daydreams of Vyn Richter, the magician, when a gentle, soothing voice speaks behind you, dulcet tones almost caressing your nape:

“Good evening, Madam. Did you wait too long?”

Vyn.

But, “Madam”?

Excited, if not a little perplexed, you turn around to face your lover. Yet your words die in your throat the moment Vyn enters your vision.

The Vyn who greets you is still wearing his usual waistcoat and tie ensemble; yet tied around his waist is a frilly white French maid’s apron, edged with eyelet lace.

A matching white lace headband with black silken ribbon accents adorn his silver hair.

Balanced expertly on his hand is a silver tray laden with various desserts.

Your mouth opens, yet your brain makes a last-minute decision to revise the words that you want to tell Vyn, and so you are left gaping at him wordlessly.

Grinning, Vyn sets the tray right in front of you, then pulls another wrought iron garden chair next to yours, seating himself beside you. “Heh. Surprised?” He leans forward towards you, planting a peck on your cheek.

“Um. Ah–” Words still fail you, and you continue staring at him: his eyes twinkling in a soft smile, yet his lips curved in an unmistakably smug grin.

The lace headpiece, you think despite being initially taken aback, looks really good on him.

“I was told that today is Maid Day elsewhere in the world,” your lover says as he reaches towards the tray for a silver foil packet, his fingers tearing it open. “And so I thought it fit to celebrate, seeing that my beloved Madam needs to unwind after such a long, hard day at work.

You take a deep breath, and bite off one end of the biscuit stick. The chocolate melts on your tongue, filling your sense of taste delightfully with its subtle sweetness.

His elegant, slender fingers take a piece of a chocolate-coated biscuit stick; with his lips he bites one end of the biscuit, leaning forward to proffer to you the other end of the chocolate coated treat.

His lips, curling into a sultry smile as an invitation for you to go ahead, take a bite.

As you start chewing you notice that he isn’t eating it—he intends to feed you the entire thing—and after your first swallow you begin to eat through the stick while Vyn holds it for you with his mouth.

When you’re almost through your lips finally meet, and his tongue gently pushes the last portion through your lips.

As you chew the remaining biscuit his tongue slowly traces the edges of your lips—teasingly, maddeningly—having his way with you while you are preoccupied.

“Do you like it?” comes his question after you swallow the last bit of biscuit.

A hand creeps up your thigh, his fingers finally settling on your soft flesh covered by your skirt. He absently caresses your inner thigh with his thumb. “Hardly the fanciest, but I was told that this chocolate—”

Acting on a sudden hunch, you blurt out, “The person who told you about this snack—ah,” a small moan slips past your lips, interrupting your words, as Vyn playfully pinches your thigh through your skirt. “Is it the same person who told you about. Um. Maid Day?”

Because Kiki was telling me all about it earlier in the office pantry, you want to add, but think the better of it.

“Yes,” his answer comes swiftly, and unexpectedly he confirms your suspicions anyway. “Your friend Kiki did. She also helped me procure these items on short notice earlier today.”

You blink at him. “...but why?”

Another smile, gentle this time, crosses his face. “Because she was concerned for your well-being,” he murmurs. “Initially she only informed me that my girlfriend is stressed out and may need a little bit of extra attention.” He plants a kiss on the tip of your nose, and continues, “The conversation then turned to how I can make you feel better. Kiki, the font of online debauchery that she is…”

The both of you snicker at his comment.

“...informed me that today is Maid’s Day, and that you have expressed interest over it—”

This time, you have to interrupt him. “Wait, did Kiki really tell you, Dr. Richter, to dress up as a maid? She really did that?”

A lopsided grin. “What if I told you I asked her myself where to procure these effects in short notice?”

Your eyes widen. “You did?”

“Why, should I not be capable of being playful every now and then, especially towards my most cherished Lady?” He chuckles, then in a low voice that sends a jolt of thrill down through your spine he whispers, “I know how much you like seeing me in my uniform, so I am also taking this as a chance to see it that predilection of yours extends to…”

He winks. “...seeing me in other costumes.”

Oh god. That wink.

Your hands fly to your face, covering your instant forest fire of a blush, only in futility. “Oh my god.” Your voice comes out tiny, strangled. “I can’t believe I’m hearing all of this from Dr. Vyn Richter.”

“I take it that my effort is successful?” His voice is teasing.

“Yes!”

Thank you, Kiki, you inwardly pray as Vyn gently prises off your hands from your face. I’m going to level up my surprise birthday plans for you. Your prayer of gratitude for your work BFF continues even as your lover gently kisses you fully on the lips. You’ll see. I’ll knock your socks off on your upcoming birthday. Thank you thank you thankyouthankyouthankyou—

“I’m going to bring her something tomorrow,” you whisper as your lips briefly part. “As thanks.”

Another chuckle escapes Vyn’s lips. “I know you are going to say that, so I made a mont blanc for her. Tell her it is a gift from both me and you.

“Well then, Madam.” Vyn straightens his posture, taking a teal-colored macaron from the tray. “Let us not waste the opportunity Kiki gave us.” So saying he holds the macaron with his mouth, wordlessly inviting you to eat it from his lips.

Grinning this time, you lean to take a bite of the delicate meringue confection.

You still find it in yourself to marvel at the exquisite sweetness of Vyn’s handiwork, despite the alluring heat of the moment: you are torn between taking your time and enjoying the pear-flavored macaron, or devouring it quickly, so you can finally consume that which you want the most: your lover’s delectable, sinful kisses…

And in your haste, numerous crumbs of meringue fall down your chin as your lips and teeth work through eating the macaron, swallowing it bit by bit as you go.

Eventually you consume the last bite, with Vyn’s tongue helpfully guiding the final morsel of macaron through your lips.

“Mmm.” He hums. “You are quite the messy eater, Madam.” Vyn then bends down to pick out the crumbs clinging to the front of your blouse with his mouth.

You can only watch with bated breath as the tip of his enticing pink tongue flicks at the crumbs, picking them up one by one.

It also just so happens that most of them fell onto your bosom, and so Vyn is, effectively, licking your breasts through your blouse.

The longer you watch him cleaning you with his tongue, you eventually realize, the more uncomfortably damp your panties become.

Your thighs squirm a little bit, and your face becomes flushed.

Vyn notices this. “Hm? Is Madam already worked up?” Laughing softly he runs the flat of his tongue all over your chin and the corners of your mouth to clean your face of remaining macaron crumbs.

At this point your breathing is now erratic, and punctuated by small moans. “Vyn, I—”

“Heh. We are not done yet, why are you already starting to…” Vyn makes another teasing pinch on your thigh, “...fall apart?” A wet kiss on your cheek. “Madam?”

“You’re so unfair,” you whimper as he trails kisses across your neck, the silk ribbons of his maid headpiece tickling your cheek. “You know how much you–oh god–affect me…”

Vyn eventually pulls back, a slightly unhinged smile on his face. This, coupled with the lace headpiece framing his hair and face makes him look even more unhinged, “Is it such a bad thing?”

His hand reaches for the only beverage in the tray.

It looks like a glass of strawberry soda, half filled with ice cubes; bubbles of carbonation rise and dissipate on the liquid’s surface.

Seeing it makes you realize that your mouth does feel dry, and you are now acutely aware of your thirst.

Somehow you are not surprised to see Vyn taking a long sip from the glass; yet he does not swallow the beverage in his mouth.

Instead—with his mouth full with drink—he shifts in his seat, now half-kneeling on his chair: one knee on the chair seat, and the foot of his other leg planted on the ground, so his mouth is directly above yours.

Smiling, he tips your chin upwards, making you face the now dark-purple night sky, and his visage overcast with such a degree of hunger that you cannot yet fathom.

Vyn locks lips with yours, sparkling drink flowing from his mouth to yours—and it is then that you learn that the beverage is not soda, it is actually a red wine cooler.

Gratefully, almost desperately, you drink the refreshing alcoholic beverage from him, like the gods of Greek mythology would ambrosia. Your tongues slide against each other all the while, and your hands eventually find their way to his cheeks, holding his face fast against yours.

Even after a full minute after you have finished drinking from his mouth, still your mouths are locked onto each other in a torrid kiss.

Ah. Delicious, comes your hazy thoughts as you eagerly drink in his kisses.

“Mmph—” Vyn gently tries to pull away from your embrace, only to find himself roughly pulled back towards you by your own arms. “Rosa, Madam, there are still other—”

“No, no, I want the main course now,” you husk, sliding off the wrought iron chair you were sitting on, moving to his chair.

You straddle the man driving you to such delicious madness, while still not breaking your now frenzied kissing.

“I want you. I want you. I want you,” you chant in between kisses. “Want you.”

You do not know where this sudden surge of bravado is coming from, but you feel like you must absolutely have him now.

Breathing ragged, your eyes clouded with lust you briefly pull away from the embrace to fully appreciate your lover now shuddering underneath you—with desire, perhaps—Vyn Richter, your work colleague for whom you have carried a secret torch for so long, whose effortless elegance he now makes light of by wearing beautiful white lace on his head, and the apron around his waist, in an effort to lift your spirits…

Ah, life is so beautiful, you finally understand. I can deal with stress. Stress is nothing, as long as I have this to look forward to, every so often…

Moved with this simple epiphany you give your slightly confused lover the softest, most gentle smile that you can muster. “Thanks, Vyn. Really. Um.” You choke back the flood of sheer emotions that you feel for the man wearing the maid apron for you. “I love you.”

Vyn chuckles at such an ardent display of romantic love. “I love you too.”

Then his own gaze darkens just a smidgen, and with a low, erotic voice he whispers, “Shall I begin servicing you, then?”

Your breath hitches, and you know you will not be coming home to your apartment for tonight.

Credit to professorsparklepants who I stole the idea of Fanfic I Won’t Write Friday from. Still not certain if they did it first, but I still want to credit them since they’re the one I saw do it and then copied.

I had an idea of how to rewrite Handbook for Mortals inspired entirely by GenerallyPooky’s Too Long, Read Anyway review of the book. (You totally should go watch her stuff on YouTube, it’s really funny.)

So, I haven’t read the book and honestly I don’t really want to but my idea was to reframe the story so that Zade (who I am renaming Zadine because Scheherazade really is a bad name for a white, American, witch) rather than ‘running away from home to become just a normal person as a Las Vegas performer’ it’s more like Kiki’s Delivery Service where she’s going out into the world to learn from experience.

My plotline idea:

Witches have to stay home for the first quarter centry of their life so Zade could never leave her hometown or she’d literally lose her magic. Now on the eve of her 25th birthday she has to leave town and spend the next 25 years learning on her own and refining her magic. Her mom actually suggests that she spend part of her time in Las Vegas trying to find her father. Her mom can’t actually tell her who he was, just that he was a stage magician 25 years ago. She gives Zade a butterfly hair pin that he had given to her before she had to leave and give birth to Zade (something to do with needing to be able to properly ward the land so that her child could safely learn magic). Since the book is called “Handbook for Mortals” I’m going with the idea that witches live for a really long time, to the point mundane people seem like mortals to gods.

When she gets to Vegas she actually gets a job as a stage hand, learning how to do magic the mundane way and then building off of that with actual magic. Mac is hard on her, not because he is trying to be mean but because he wants to make sure she’s tough enough for show business. If she can’t handle his rudeness there’s no way she can cut it as part of the show. She ends up becoming Sofia’s understudy, which makes Sofia go from ignoring her to hating her because she thinks she’s going to take her place.

So, Zade is trying to find her dad, getting pulled in by Jackson who actually has three other girlfriends. Sofia actually feels bad about Zade falling for him after Zade rescues her from an accident that nearly kills her and tries to help her, telling her that it will only end up hurt if she doesn’t realize he’s playing with her.

It’s kind of fuzzy after that, but I was thinking about the girls bonding after Jackson shows his true colors, Mac tells Zade that he’s interested in her seriously, and Charles realizes that Zade is his daughter when she wears the butterfly pin for a show when she took over for Sofia since she was hurt too badly by the accident to perform.

Pros of continuing the fic:

- I honestly think it would fix the pacing, characterization, and plot

- It would be really cool if Pooky found my fic and liked it

Cons of continuing the fic:

- At that point, I’m rewriting like 80% of the book so why not just write my own book at this point?

- I probably would really need to actually read the book
