Here it is, fellow KOTLC fans!! Our disastrous Council playing Monopoly. Hope you guys enjoy!

(And if you do, I may plan a sequel? Remember those Nerf guns mentioned at the end?)

It was Oralie’s idea to begin a game night for the Council. There was reluctance at first, but eventually she managed to convince the entire body of twelve to meet in the lounge.

She had known it would be a disaster at the least; what she had not expected was the full-out war that was currently occurring.

Oralie sighed and pinched her nose. “Terik, you landed on Bronte’s property. Give him his money.”

Terik shook his head, giving Bronte a playful nudge. “Nope, he’s in jail. I’m not giving money to a criminal.”

“You have to,” Ramira chided him.

“He wouldn’t have to if Emery would bail me out,” Bronte announced, giving the spokesperson a sharp look.

“Look,” Emery tried to reason, “I would bail you out, but I’m going bankrupt from Zarina’s property.”

Zarina smirked, one hand idly playing playing with her long braid.

Bronte waved Emery off. “Believe what you want to believe. And it’s been your turn for ages— why don’t you pick up the dice and roll? Otherwise we’ll be here until I hit my six-thousandth birthday.”

Emery took his turn, resulting in losing nearly all of his money to Zarina again. He blew out a breath and eyed the twenty dollars he still had left.

“This is going swell,” he muttered. He pushed his chair back from the table. “I’m going to the bathroom— no cheating while I’m gone.”

“Of course!” Oralie smiled at Emery’s retreating back as Bronte snuck a handful of cash from the bank.

On Bronte’s turn, he drew a “Get Out Of Jail Free” card— and held it up triumphantly for all to see. “Now,” he announced. “Prepare to lose.”

“You don’t even have a property yet,” Alina pointed out haughtily, her eyes flitting to the several properties she owned.

Bronte ignored her, his stormy gray eyes inspecting the board. On his first roll, he landed on the most expensive lot— that also happened to turn in the most revenue. He bought it instantly, of course.

Clarette cursed and threw her figurine at Bronte. “You absolute donkey. You knew I wanted that one.”

He smirked and shrugged, leaning his elbows on the table with his hands clasped. “Maybe I did. However, at the pace you’re moving around the board, it’s entirely possible that you wouldn’t have made it one lap around, let alone land on the lot you want to.”

Terik grinned. “Easy, tiger. No need to bring out your rapier wit.”

“He never puts it away,” Emery muttered as he returned to his seat.

Two hours later, at 1 AM in the morning, they were still playing.

Emery had long since gone bankrupt and given up, so now he sat and watched. Alina had eventually tired of the game and left to “tidy herself up”. The other Councillors were spread out around the lounge.

Somehow, in some way Oralie couldn’t quite comprehend, Bronte had achieved a mountain of cash, which he kept stacked neatly in front of him.

Bronte was tired, Oralie could tell— his insomnia had been bothering him— but the sleepier he got, the more energetic he became, until Oralie could almost feel the energy radiating from him.

The pretty Councillor shared a look with Emery, and they both agreed: Bronte would be a holy terror to deal with the next day.

“Why don’t we quit for the night?” Oralie yawned, feeling tired herself. Ramira and Darek agreed, both stifling their own yawns.

“No way,” Bronte answered her. “Not until I win.”

“You might as well,” Emery told Oralie. “He won’t let you leave until you finish.”

At precisely 2:34 AM, Bronte won the game. There were annoyed huffs from the other Councillors (because they didn’t like it when Bronte won) but Bronte just smirked and helped Emery put the game away.

“I would have won if I was still playing,” Alina announced as she waltzed back in, tossing her caramel-colored hair.

“You couldn’t find your way out of a paper bag,” Bronte and Clarette snarked back simultaneously.

Alina put her hands on her hips. “Don’t get sassy with me.”

Emery pushed his way in before a fight could start. “Okay, okay, no need to argue. I think this is our cue that maybe we need to sleep.”

Oralie laughed. “Definitely. But really, guys,” she smiled around at the other Councillors, “That was fun. What should we play next time?”

“Aggravation,” Bronte muttered, his personality coming down from his energy high.

Terik laughed. “What a fitting title for you, Bronte. Funny how that works, huh?”

“It doesn’t have to be a board game, does it?” Bronte asked Oralie. “Suppose we do something else. I’m betting I can get something that the humans call a Nerf gun.”

“I’ll look into it.” Oralie smiled and raised her eyebrows. “Same time next week?

Keeptober favorite characters day 22! I found the council really interesting and I also love it when Sophie just sasses them because I find it funny so for today I drew that scene from Flashback after the baby alicorns where put into the hive and the council wanted to check it out.

It said that they showed up in all their finery so I drew them in the outfits of their official portraits

I got to pondering the question of how I'd rank all the adult elves on the basis of physical beauty, from most to least (based on how I envision them - NOT necessarily ranked by who I like the most as a character). It was super hard, because there are so many good contenders!! But I got an approximate list anyway (one for the female elves, and one for the male elves). Oralie’s hair is naturally straight and has to re-curl it every day

Kenrick and Bronte’s butts hurt after filming every tribunal scene because their chairs are super uncomfortable.

Most of the side councilors all have wild headcannons about their characters and enjoy discussing these headcannons with other people

Terik is the oldest and Clarette’s the youngest with a 12 year age difference

Zarina bleached her hair for the role.

Velia is partially deaf and uses hearing aids off camera

Liora, Terik, Kenric, and Clarette are the only council members to not have kids.

Derek consistently trips on his cape

Oralie swears like a sailor off camera

Bronte was a child actor

Clarette is a famous singer

Oralie and Bronte are the only ones with naturally blue eyes.

Everyone else has to wear colored contacts

Ramina works in mostly action films

just had yet another keeper omegaverse thought (btw please tell me if these are unwelcome.)

registry pendants would absolutely not be chokers in an a/b/o world simply because having your neck covered/uncovered means a Lot in omegaverse and so that would definitely be a very personal choice to make, not to mention that due to the material they're made of it would be way too similar to a collar for anyone's comfort. instead, they're probably just pendants (which... why are they called pendants in canon if they're chokers? so strange).

also, scents. hm. lots to think about here. since in the present day the elven population is composed of mostly betas the rules would be more lax, but historically it's very probable that covering your scent was a sign of status (because you had the money to buy scent blockers in the first place) and anyone who didn't and who wasn't mated was considered, uh, promiscuous, we'll say.

oh, and cuz ive got terminal bronte brainrot:

his entry in the registry marks him as a beta because he and fintan forged the records when the council was set up

oralie probably knows he's an omega, but no one else on the council does. (except maybe velia.)

i.... should maybe be embarrassed about the fact that all it took for me to get back into kotlc was throwing a/b/o in there but like. too late for that now.

Reading through this and nodding like a studious student with a pencil and paper before me writing everything down in glitter pen and highlighting and underlining important details. (also your asks are always welcome :), omegaverse or otherwise )

Professor what is the significance of a neck covering. Does that have something to do with like. Availability of a person? That's the first explanation I came up with at least, that having your neck covered means you belong to someone else already (relationship wise). But again idk so I'm appealing to you professor.

I think they may be called registry pendants because Shannon preferred that over registry chokers. Sounds fancier and more elven, and it's possible chokers could be seen as too mature for some of her audience.

This scent this piques my interest. I'm assuming the economy also works differently in this situation, otherwise everyone could afford scent blockers and it wouldn't be status signifying. Promiscuous, you say...mark me down as intrigued.

Bronte! Can't have victor without his Bronte shenanigans. Fascinated by the implications this has for Fintan and Bronte's relationship--they were close enough to forge them together and for Fintan to know of this status, and then when everything went down he held this knowledge over Bronte. And maybe it wouldn't get him kicked off the council because things are apparently better now, but it would still change things negatively for him. And yet he didn't use that against him...

Curious how Oralie knows, can Omegas sense/intuit each other? Does she just clock him? Look at him and go yeah there's no way you're a beta. Velia I'm assuming is because of the not asking questions/knowing secrets-esque personality.

I know you don't have fond memories of your time with kotlc and you generally avoid it now, but I am delighted there is a thing that has reconnected us and I get to hear victor thoughts in my inbox once more, for however long the a/b/o holds you :)

I AM BACK WITH WAY TOO MUCH

Latino!Bronte is something I did not expect. But now I can't get it out of my head.

Here I am, wondering if I can combine Latino!Bronte, Halfhuman!Bronte and Pyrenbros!Bronte into one acceptable backstory without it being weird as well as wondering why I can't MAKE SOMETHING THAT IS FUCKING ORIGINAL FOR A CHANGE???????????????????????????

actually is a headcannon that ancients hear better that normal elves original? No?

Okay... what if we upped it a notch? Ancients can hear a specific type of noise better than normal elves according to their personalites.

Like, an ancient who likes music would hear music better? idk

Now Bronte angst headcannon. It conflicts completely with my original ones. You can choose which one you like.

Bronte had manipulative parents but he persuaded himself that they only wanted the best for him. Translation: it worked.

He totally overworks himself. Like actually. The other councillors taking him for granted and just giving them his work doesn't help.

He has social anxiety. He's scared he's going to mess up something near others so every day is a living hell.

Gets fucking walked over. Like, he tries to pretend he's tough, but in reality he's that one guy that says nothing and follows everyone's orders.

Not helping his repression.

Has a big fucking crush on Emery but says nothing about it because he's scared that it'll ruin their friendship.

But because of that he's always sad.

Like, all he wants is to be loved. But he's scared he'll get rejected and lose his will to live.

Some people follow their head and some follow their hearts, Bronte is a 'follow the head' person, but that doesn't mean the heart doesn't shut the fuck up.

But anyway.

He specially hears people talking. Like he hears any human or elvin voices in a 10-mile radius.

Like once he was trying to sleep and heard some couple making out. Poor guy.

Apparently my brain wants Bronte to be a horse whisperer now. Okay. That's what his parents did for a living. Breed horses.

Because elves lived like humans in the Middle Ages. Idk.
