A one-shot inspired by KHDR. Translatable text below.
Xigbar: I’ve been around versions of you long enough to recognize that expression. What’s bothering you?
Xehanort: Nothing. ...They just remind me of my old classmates.
Xigbar: CLASSMATES!? I thought it was just the old man and the hermit—
Xehanort: They died.
Xehanort: It’s time. I’m going.
Im connecting dots here. Ik is probably very obvious but Chirithy, a dream eater, ushering you into the next life in KHUX and then arriving to the station of awakening in the Drop pose is so fucking clever.
so like, with sora being the child of destiny Ultimate Empath who can connect his heart to anybody, is KH still keeping the idea that he wasn't originally meant to have the keyblade. or is that being reconnected again lol.
because I'm currently writing about the princess of heart and how KH1 says they're connected to/drawn to the keyblade bearer. I'm trying to decide if I think Sora's able to visit their stations of awakening in KH1's tutorial because he's a keyblade bearer which connects him to them specifically, or if its because he's the child of destiny which connects him to anyone's heart.
Young Xehanort says the Power of Waking is "for traversing hearts to reach worlds". If the Station of Awakening is literally a station, a terminal of going one place to another, are the Station of Awakening and Power of Waking connected? Do they go hand-in-hand? And if so, does that mean Sora always had the power of waking? And if he did always have it, is that because he's the child of destiny?
I also just don't understand how Sora could always have a power so involved with hearts, and not be originally worthy of/chosen by the keyblade, a weapon so connected to hearts....
Scale of “How well do you handle being the dark half to someone’s light”
(I.D.: A number scale with full-body png images of kingdom hearts characters above it. From left to right: Riku, a 16-17 year old who has short silver hair; Terra, a 20 year old who has short brown hair, Saix/Isa, a 25ish year old who has long blue hair; Xehanort, an 80ish year old who is bald; Vanitas, who is wearing a black helmet covering his face; and Baldr, a 15ish who has longv white hair. On the far left side of the scale there is text that reads “My bestie is so cool. I am going to support him as much as I can in a normal amount.”. On the far right side of the scale there is text that reads “;)”
vanitas redemption arc where all he does is sit in the guest bedroom of sora and strelitzia's apartment, and whenever they come home from their day jobs, the whole apartment is clean and there's some snacks in the fridge. no one sees vanitas leave the room to do these things, but who else could it be
The dichotomy between redemption and damnation is … really stupid and has poisoned fandom discourse for so long. Like, I am still so salty and frankly confused, that someone can look at the last few cutscenes of Kingdom Hearts III - Xehanort defeated, his ideals and plans crushed, forced to realise that the "dull, ordinary boy" is more worthy of the χ-Blade than he is; HIM BEING ALONE IN THE SHADOWS WHILE ERAQUS IS EMBRACED BY HIS CRYING PUPILS IN THE LIGHT C'MON YOU GUYS THIS SHIT IS NOT SUBTLE - and think:
Yep, he got redeemed, the narrative says: "Well done, Xehanort, your ways were slightly off but you made a good effort."
