Im connecting dots here. Ik is probably very obvious but Chirithy, a dream eater, ushering you into the next life in KHUX and then arriving to the station of awakening in the Drop pose is so fucking clever.

Shuichi in chapter 4 does make me a bit upset but honestly I’m more understanding
The au:
He in his mind just met kokichi a few weeks ago, he does know him from before, doesn’t know they have know eachother since they were like toddlers, all he knows and sees is someone who is compulsively lying and after chapter 4 led someone to kill and be executed, show sympathy, then completely just wipe it off there face and replace it with apathy
Of course even in canon lying could be used as a defense mechanism, and his lying in the au to protect the fact he remembers and in the au kokichi is suffering fr but shuichi doesn’t know that
Sorry if that was wrong it’s just how I see the situation I also feel bad because shuichi had to accuse gonta or else they would all die, and I didn’t want him to be Executed just like kaito I really wanted to believe he didn’t do it but shuichi had to expose the killer. And because he’s finding the truth lol e kaede wanted he’s hurting the people around him, he is killing people for the truth (which makes me think of more things) and losing his support system who might I add has a hero complex that makes him ignore his own problems
I just think it’s a really complicated situation and feel like sometime people blame one charcter and of course that blame can be valid but your also seeing there actions in an impossible situation were every one is in the right and wrong
Sorry again just my thoughs on it, don’t think anyone’s to blame or a bad person
WELL THIS IS LATE!! Wanna preface my answer with the disclaimer that I wasn't and I'm still not Mad at Shuichi for what he said, it was a heated moment and you can tell that Kokichi was actively trying to antagonize his peers and well. He got to face the consequences of that yknow? I am/was disappointed in Shuichi, but I still understand/understood his actions. Also Shuichi's situation in ch4 was so fucking sad oh my goodness. All Of That followed by the Shit Show that was ch5 good golly. ok so let's get into AU TERRITORY RUBS MY LITTLE HANDS EVILLY. Using this as a small excuse to infodump about In Game Shuichi because I have THOUGHTS. I think that Shuichi has A Theory that something is up, (This is Kyoko I-Full-On-Dipped-For-A-Whole-Ass-Chapter-Because-I-Smelled-Bull-Shit Kirigiri's kid, he's got a nose for sniffing out bs) but it's not something that he's really thinking too had about until ch3, when Kaede and Rantaro come back acting a bit Different and hopping between helping Kokichi get away with a lie or calling him out on them the second they spill out of his mouth (implying they know his tells a little better than they used to, they underestimated how much of an overthinker the SHSL Detective can be) it kinda lost his attention upon watching them die again, and all the things going on in ch4 and 5 (regretted not looking into it later tho lmao, bit of a misstep on his part looking back, "I could have gotten us out sooner, we didn't have to go through that" type beat) Shuichi picks up on Kokichi's tells a little faster than canon but doesn't act on it because the Logical side of his brain points out that a Gut Instinct isnt enough to call out what could totally be the truth yknow? A brain that's been lied to and a gut that Fucking Knows having an internal conflict so he chooses not to act. Sorry that this got so far away from the main topic, you're pretty spot on for Shu tho

Runeterra Retcons 4: Varus
Unlike the other Champions I’ve covered, Varus’s history is surprisingly straightforward. He was released all the way back in 2012 and, as far as I can recall, was the first Champion to ever receive any sort of major promotional material in the form of a short comic. He’s very straight-forward in both concept and design: a man willing to sell his soul, his very humanity, for revenge on the people who took everything from him. Given that this was before Kalista was added to the game, Varus had little choice but take matters into his own hands by bargaining with a vaguely-defined Eldritch being who would give him the power he needed in exchanged for taking over his body.
Original lore here
Varus’s lore is a very traditional revenge story, albeit with a slightly interesting twist in that he is the maker of his own tragedy. Varus opted to place his duty over the well-being of family and, in the process, was unable to even TRY to protect them while his village was being reduced to burning rubble. Out of grief and rage Varus turned to bargaining with the very entity he fought so hard to keep confined now that he no longer has anything to lose.
I and many others liked Varus’s story, and to be honest, Riot could have honestly just kept him more-or-less the same when they updated him post-retcon. Just remove the mention of the League and maybe better-define what the black flames were, and you’d be good. In fact, Riot technically did the former, as his second lore is basically identical save for removing any mention of the League of Legends.
Now, it’s at this point that things start to get a little more complicated. Now, if you want a more comprehensive breakdown of the Darkin and their history, I advise you go check out the part centered around Aatrox and his long and convoluted history, but tldr: the Darkin were a race of beings of whom only five remained, and it was later confirmed with Rhaast that they’re specifically a race of living weapons with the ability to possess whoever wields them. Now, while Varus was specifically possessed by an ominous black flame called Pallas, many drew parallels between him and the other Darkin characters, especially since Varus’s also seemed to be alive.
Given that the flames were never really elaborated on or given a proper origin story, Riot decided that it would probably be best to just go ahead and retcon Varus into being a Darkin as well, and nobody had any real qualms with this. It was a common fan theory for years, so why not? Just change the story a bit so that the flames were actually just a Darkin bow all along and boom, you’ve pretty-much done all you needed to properly fit Varus into the new post-reboot Runeterra.
Well, apparently Riot did not feel this way, as it was with Varus’s 2017 retcon that they decided to finally give fans a proper origin story for who and what the Darkin were. That origin story goes a little something like this.
Alright, so Varus is now an alien. They decided to make Varus himself the Darkin, rather than the man who would later claim the bow. OK, that’s fine. I mean, the whole alien thing is kinda weird and still very vaguely explained, but again, my full thoughts on the history of the Darkin as a whole can be seen in the Aatrox analysis. What I think is most important here is that Riot made an attempt, however sloppy, to explain who and what the Darkin were and finally give context to why Aatrox and Rhaast are such big threats to the world.
Now, it’s the next change that got a lot of controversy around it. Rather than just change the name of the Ionian guard who let Varus possess him, the guy who lost his family to the Noxian invasion, Riot decided to replace him with a pair of entirely new characters: Valmar and Kai, a duo of gay Ionian hunters.
Now, I’m just gonna get this out of the way: I’ve got no real qualms about gay relationships in media. Hell, we have a few LGBT Champions in the game already, and even some in the broader expanse of the world. My main gripe comes from the introduction of Valmar and Kai themselves, and how they’re just sort of these… Nothing characters. I mean, in the first lore, we knew who Varus was. We may not have known him well, but we could at least get a general sense of his character: he was proud of his skill, committed to the duty given to him even at the risk of his family, but ultimately succumbed to grief and rage when his decision caused him to lose everything he held dear. Varus was a good man warped by the loss of his home and loved ones, and that made him a fairly compelling character.
Valmar and Kai are… Two gay hunters. That’s it. That’s literally all we know about them from the bio alone. I mean, yes, Riot released a comic to further expand on these characters, but if your answer to the questions raised in your story are “go and read this extra supplementary material for context,” that’s… A problem.
On the topic of supplementary material, Riot also released a music video about Varus. It’s… OK. I personally don’t care much for the song but the visuals alone are really well-done. It’s supposed to detail the conflict between Valmar, Kai and Varus, but most of the context behind it is explained in the comic and short story.
Honestly, Varus’s retcon is kind of baffling. I mean, he didn’t receive a visual rework, his kit remained pretty-much the same as it’s always been, and he doesn’t even have any new voice lines in-game to indicate that he’s three different guys all stuck in one body. In fact, people who play him in-game without reading the lore probably wouldn’t ever be able to guess as much. Riot went to so much effort promoting Varus’s lore update with a music video, a new bio, a new color story, and a three-part comic, but they really haven’t changed anything about him in the game itself. They put more effort into him than they do for most ACTUAL Champion VGU’s. So… Why?
Admittedly, this is where I’m going to delve a bit into conspiracy theory territory, but I genuinely believe this is a case of Riot trying to push League’s first openly queer relationship. Seriously, Valmar and Kai are the first time a character in League has been confirmed gay IN THE LORE ITSELF and not just through a random tweet. Now, the word “pandering” gets thrown around a lot these days, and I don’t really like to use it, but it really does feel like Valmar and Kai were added JUST to have a confirmed gay couple in the lore.
The fact that they’re not even acknowledged IN THE GAME ITSELF really makes the whole thing feel like an attempt to just appeal to the LGBT crowd, though I’ve seen plenty of people in that community react… Less than positively to the portrayal. I mean, two gay guys are literally trying to hold back a corruptive, even influence with the power of love. I don’t wanna delve too much into the political side of things here, but that’s honestly about as cliché and stereotypical as you can get. Fans in general were extremely displeased that the man they knew as Varus, this genuinely tragic figure from the original lore, was replaced by two guys who’s only defining character trait is how much they apparently love each other.
Apparently, these complaints came through loud and clear, as Riot would update Varus one final time after deciding to retcon the whole alien plotline. So, let’s have a look at how his current, canon bio handles him.
Alright, well… Riot heard the complaints, but whether or not they fixed him is another matter. It seems like they tried to give Varus back his original origin story, basically making the archer we new from his first bio Shuriman. The problem is that there’s significantly less context for him now; we don’t know anything about his family, we don’t know why the temple he’s guarding is so important, and the story never even explicitly states that his family died!
I guess it’s implied because the Ascended acknowledged his “sacrifice,” though him being rewarded by becoming a demigod doesn’t quite have the same impact as exchanging his life and soul for a shot at revenge. On top of that, Varus seems pretty quick to give up on the whole “sacred duty” thing, despite the story claiming that being the thing he “he held above all else.” It all feels like a botched effort to mix his original bio with the new Ascended lore that Riot tied in with the Darkin.
Then, of course, there’s Valmar and Kai, who are… Still just gay hunters. They haven’t been expanded on at all. They helped drive the Noxians off from their home, Kai was apparently wounded, and Valmar decides that dipping his lover in an ominous pool of evil to save his life is a bad idea. Seriously, the bio states that they “inadvertently” freed Varus, but there was nothing accidental about it! There was no bargain, they weren’t tricked, it was literally just one guy making a stupid decision that got him fused with his lover and an ancient evil being.
Also, can we address the fact that Varus still wants to avenge the destruction of his race? Who does he want to avenge? The other Ascended? The Ascended who literally warred with each other for centuries? The same Ascended that HE FOUGHT AGAINST during the civil war for control of Shurima? Did Riot just… Forget that he’s not an alien anymore in that brief paragraph? They stated earlier that he was a cruel, merciless killer who just went to slaughter whoever he was told to slaughter, so for some reason I don’t feel like he’d care all that much about his “race” being felled. Oh, and there’s also still the unnamed warrior queen, who I THINK is meant to be a precious Aspect of the Sun? It’s never really stated in the bio itself.
Alright, enough ranting. Varus’s current lore suffers from one major fault: it is trying way too hard to tell several stories all at once. It tells the story of Varus as a human, Varus as an Ascended, Varus as a Darkin, the “story” of Valmar and Kai, and how they got fused with Varus. The writers tried way too hard to cram everything into a single bio and, as a result, nothing is elaborated on. Nothing is really explained, we don’t get to know the characters who are involved in the gestalt entities now known as Varus, and reason for his current existence AS a gestalt entity are just kinda silly, if we’re being honest.
So, how can we fix this? I admit: this was a tough one. There were a lot of different directions I could go when rewriting Varus’s lore, but I decided to take the Kayn approach, where the human host in the focus of the bio. Originally, I did have a whole bio written out for Varus and how he became an Ascendant, but I ultimately realized that I was going to run into the same issue Riot did: trying to cram way too much into a single character overview. So, instead, I chose to focus in more on the story of Valmar and Kai, and how the Darkin Bow was freed after ages of confinement. Without any further ado, please enjoy.
For years, the Darkin Bow has remained confined within the Ionian city of Pallas. The bow’s true nature has long been lost to time, though legends say it holds the spirit of an ancient god from a vast desert land. Others claim that the bow itself is something much older and viler than history itself dares to remember. Whatever the truth may be, the people have Pallas have guarded the bow for generations, choosing only their most skilled warriors from the task. Among them, none seemed better-suited for the task than Kai and Valmar.
Kai and Valmar were inseparable since they were children. Kai, a prodigy marksman, was known for his sense of humor and fierce resolve. Though infamous for his pranks, Kai would never hesitate to step in and defend someone in need, no matter how poorly the odds stood in his favor. By contrast, Valmar had trained in the ways of swordsmanship since he was old enough to grip a blade. Diligent and studious, Valmar was what many considered a model samurai in the making, yet he was also unendingly curious about the world and the many wonders it held.
At a glance, Kai and Valmar seemed near-total opposites, yet the two formed an unbreakable bond from the day they met. Kai would often accompany Valmar to explore the surrounding wilderness, only for Valmar to shelter Kai whenever one of his pranks went awry. As each boy matured, mastering the bow and blade respectively, their bond became something deeper than simple friendship. Valmar was a part of Kai, and Kai a part of Valmar. Neither was complete without the other, and so it came as little surprise that when Valmar was chosen to guard the Temple of the Bow, Kai soon followed.
Together, Valmar and Kai drove off many would-be thieves seeking to claim the cursed weapon’s power as their own. The two fought as one, each arrow from Kai’s bow in perfect sync with every swing of Valmar’s blade. Eventually, they came to be known as the Locust and Mantis, for the whirring of Kai’s arrows and the elegance of Valmar’s blade. It was believed that none could stand up to their combined might… Until the Noxians came.
From their post at the temple, Valmar and Kai watched in horror as the invaders stormed their home, setting fires and killing anyone who dared to stand in their way. For the first time, two warriors found themselves at odds; Kai wished to help defend the people of Pallas, but Valmar insisted on protecting the temple. In the end, neither had much choice in the matter, for the Noxians soon had them cornered on the temple steps.
Valmar and Kai fought for hours, their combined might slowly waning against the invaders’ onslaught. Kai’s strength was the first to give out, yet before death could reach him, Valmar stepped in the way to shield his partner from the blow of a Noxian axe. Kai watched in horror as Valmar fell to the ground, lifeless. Enraged, Kai fired all the arrows he had left before taking up Valmar’s sword, slaying the Noxian forces assaulting the temple. Even still, he knew it would not be long before more came, seeking to claim the forbidden bow.
In that moment, Kai heard a voice calling to him from within the temple. It promised him vengeance and the strength to fight back. Driven by rage and grief, the wounded archer let the voice guide him inside, just as more Noxian invaders began their ascent up the temple’s stairs. It was there, in the darkness, that Kai at last set eyes upon the cursed weapon he and Valmar spent years protecting: a bow thrumming with unearthly power. Kai hesitated for only a moment before grasping the bow, letting its power wash over him.
Kai’s mind was filled with images and thoughts not his own: a vast desert empire, a man made a god, betrayal, war, and finally, imprisonment. These were the memories of Varus, an Ascended being who devoted his life to serving Shurima, only to be abandoned in his time of need. His bitterness and hatred had summoned the Darkin Bow, granting Varus the opportunity to seek revenge on those who had wronged him. In the end, Varus was sealed within the bow, becoming one with it… And now, he would become one with Kai as well.
As Varus’s memories filled Kai’s mind, the Darkin’s power corrupted his body. Varus prepared to usurp Kai’s form entirely, but to his surprise, the Ionian’s drive for vengeance matched his own. Kai was prepared to give anything to avenge Valmar, his fallen half, yet he would do so with his own hands rather than entrust the task to a fallen god.
Even as their minds fought, the archers’ new, fused body moved on pure instinct. One by one, the Noxian forces in Pallas were felled by crimson arrows born of pure malice. Seeing the corpses of his kinsmen and the ruins of his home only fueled Kai’s rage, which in-turn empowered the Darkin in his grasp. Finally, the two archers came to an agreement as the Noxians fled: Varus would lend Kai his strength, in exchange for the Ionian’s body once Kai’s vengeance was complete.
Now on borrowed time, Kai has but one objective: to find and kill everyone he holds responsible for the destruction of his home and the death of his partner. To Varus, however, the destruction of Noxus is but the first step toward a much larger goal: revenge against the gods who betrayed him, and the world that sealed him away…
So, that’s my take on Varus’s lore. Now, the first thing you’ll probably notice is that I only have one of the lovers being possessed. Frankly, I felt that this was probably the best direction to go with; Riot still hasn’t updated Varus in any meaningful way to include Valmar and Kai in any of his voice lines, and something tells me that, being owned by a certain Chinese company, they probably never will. Given the circumstances, I figured it was probably best to give him a backstory more befitting of his in-game voice lines, which still portray Varus as a man on borrowed time who’s giving what little he has left in pursuit of vengeance.
Even so, I decided to try my hand at fleshing out Valmar and Kai. The first thing I did was change them from random hunters to trained soldiers tasked with guarding the temple. This not only harkens back to Varus’s original lore, but it also gives them more of a reason to stand their ground against the Noxian invaders. I also wanted to flesh out their personalities a little more, because I’ll be completely honest: I legitimately couldn’t remember which one was which even after skimming back through the comic. I forgot that Kai was the one who was injured in the original story, not Valmar, but quite frankly it matters so little given how poorly their characters are fleshed out.
Now, as for Varus himself… Well, like I said: I did have a whole bio written out for him that ties into the new Darkin lore I introduced in my Aatrox analysis, but I decided to focus the story more on Valmar and Kai and only have that backstory briefly alluded to. A tad disappointing, I know, but hey, it’s still more than what we learned about Rhaast from Kayn’s bio.
So, that was Varus, the Arrow of Retribution, otherwise known as Riot’s botched attempt at LGBT representation. He’s a far cry from what he started out as, and yet, hilariously, he’s really not on account of them still not updating anything about him in-game. In that respect, the Varus you play as in League isn’t really even the same character(s) presented in the lore. While I still firmly believe that his backstory never needed to be changed so drastically in the first place, I least wanted to present the potential that this direction held, and how badly the opportunity was squandered.
Oh well. At least the music video still looks nice.

Chapter Two - You Might Be Right
Previous Chapter < - > Next Chapter
Summary: After a four am call with Spencer, Lex rushes into the local police station to help him out with the case.
Warnings: Descriptions of graphic violence!!, swearing, mentions of the Tobias Hankel case (season two), and brief mentions of psychotic breaks and mental instability
Word Count: 3433
A/N: Here’s a link to the crime scene diagram that I drew up! (CW: More descriptions of violence, as well as a visual depiction of a map of a crime scene - no actual blood or gore, just red pen and a house floor-plan). On the side I wrote out some further information on cause of death that wasn’t mentioned in the chapter.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I planned to call Dr. Spencer Reid in the morning to get an update on the case. He said they were speaking with Brian, and I was far too invested in what that scumbag had to say for himself.
What I hadn’t planned for, though, was to receive a call from the very same Dr. Spencer Reid, around four in the morning.
“Lex? Are you up?”
“What the fuck - Dr. Reid? What time is it?”
“Like four or something, I don’t know; listen, I’m sorry to wake you, but I think you might be right.”
“As much as I love to hear that, I’m gonna need you to be more specific.”
“Right about Brian, about your sister, the murder, all of it. I think you might be right.”
“Well shit.” I was fully awake now, sitting up in my bed as I’m sure he paced in front of a whiteboard somewhere downtown.
“Can you come in? Like, to the police station.”
“Now? Dr. Reid, you are aware that it’s four in the morning?”
“Lex, please just call me Spencer. And I know, I know and I’m sorry, but you’re our best lead on this so far. You saw what your sister’s marriage did to the both of you, and you know what you’re talking about. Like I said, I think you’re right. But we need to prove it.”
“What does the rest of your team think about this?” As much as I was already dying to jump back into this mystery, I really didn’t want the wrath of the FBI on my ass.
“They’re at the hotel right now, I couldn’t sleep - I’ll explain everything to them in the morning, but right now I need your help.”
“Spencer why is this so urgent? What aren’t you telling me?”
“We had to let Brian go.”
“What? That douchebag killed someone and you let him leave?”
“We didn’t have any cause to keep him in holding! We have to let people go after 24 hours -”
“I know how the criminal justice system works, Spencer. Do you think there’s a chance he’ll kill again?”
“I - there’s a chance. Based on some stuff we found at the crime scene -”
That was all I needed to hear. If there was a chance this asshole could kill someone else, I wasn’t going to go back to sleep. “Fucking hell - I’m on my way.”
As much as my exhausted body protested, I practically jumped out of bed, pulling on a t-shirt and some jean shorts before grabbing a jacket and gym shoes and heading out to my car. It was pitch black outside, the streets of Tallahassee surprisingly quiet for a Saturday night. The hot air hit me the second I left my building, and I internally groaned, speeding up my walk to my car so I could reach the safety of the air conditioning.
I sped out of the parking lot, air conditioning cranked despite the lack of sunlight outside. There was a little voice in the back of my head telling me that I should’ve spent more time on this outfit, or put on a bit of makeup, but I pushed it away, filling my head with thoughts of the case instead. Spencer wouldn’t care if I looked a little bedraggled.
Not that I cared what Spencer thought, of course.
The police station was about twenty minutes from my apartment complex, but I got there in fifteen, swinging into the parking lot and shutting off my car before making my way to the front door. I considered knocking, but I wasn’t sure who else was working this late. So I opted to text Spencer instead.
I still had his number from when he called me earlier, and I shot him a quick text to let him know I was here. No less than a minute later, he was at the front door, opening it up to allow me inside.
“Hey - I’m sorry about this, I really shouldn’t have called you so late. Honestly, if you want to go home, I’d understand; I don’t know what I was thinking, there’s no reason to make you -”
“Spencer. You didn’t ‘make me’ do anything. Trust me, if I didn’t want to help, I would’ve told you as much. I’m not one for secrets.”
He smiled a bit, and I offered him a reassuring one back. “Well, I’m still sorry,” He said, “But the case information is all in here. Follow me.”
He led me back through the main hallway that Penelope Garcia had walked me down yesterday, but instead of turning right at the fork to go to the interrogation rooms, he went left, leading me to a series of empty conference rooms. One of them had multiple large rolling whiteboards up against the farthest wall, most of which were covered in pictures and writing. That was the room that he walked towards, before he turned and blocked me from getting through the doorway.
“Ok. So, I know that you know your sister is dead. And I know you know she was most likely murdered by her husband. But… you haven’t seen the crime scene. You haven’t seen exactly why we were called in. We don’t just get called in for regular homicides. There has to be a specific behavioral element, something that would make the local police believe they’d have more luck solving the case if they had a profile on the killer.”
I knew a bit about criminal justice, and behavioral science, from a couple classes I took my senior year of college. But I didn’t know much about the BAU, and the dead serious look on Spencer’s face was making me uneasy.
“So what you’re saying is… this isn’t gonna be pretty.”
“In layman’s terms, yes, this isn’t gonna be pretty. So I want to make absolutely sure that you want to help, that you’re ok with seeing stuff like that. That you’re ok with seeing your sister like that.”
Yes, I fucking hated my sister. But I was still hesitant to enter that room. Spencer could tell, because he followed up with.
“If you’re not comfortable with that, if you’d rather not have those images in your head, you can go home right now and forget I ever called you in here. We’ll update you on the results of the case, and you don’t have to be involved. It’s up to you.”
I shook my head. As hesitant as I was, there was no way I could leave now. I was far too invested. “No, I’ll be fine.”
“Are you sure? 100%?”
“Yes, Spencer. I’ll be ok.”
“Ok.” He nodded, turning around and heading into the room, making a beeline for the boards. I followed him, trying to figure out what could possibly be so bad that he would need to give me that kind of warning.
Now, I consider myself to be a pretty tough person. There wasn’t a lot that could phase me, I generally took a ‘go with the flow,’ nonchalant approach to life. But when I saw the crime scene pictures stuck to that board, I felt my face pale.
“Holy… fuck - you really think Brian is capable of this? I mean, he’s a dick, and I can fully believe he’s capable of murder, but… god -”
The pictures in front of me depicted a brutal scene… honestly, I’d never seen anything like it. They centered around one image: my sister, dead, on the kitchen floor. Her body was slumped up against the island, blood pooling around her. The other pictures also showed most of the blood spattered on the lower cabinets across from her body, but it was still pretty much everywhere around her. She appeared to have been stabbed multiple times, and yet, despite all the blood, there wasn’t a single fingerprint, footprint, hair - nothing that could point to the murderer. Nothing that I could see in the pictures, at least. I felt my heart start to pick up as I studied the scene, and I turned away, steadying my breathing and trying to fight back unexpected tears that pricked the corners of my eyes. When I glanced over at Spencer though, he wasn’t even looking at me. He was reading a file in front of him, responding to my question as he read.
“Well, I know that our prevailing theory is that he killed her in a fit of rage. But based on the overkill at the crime scene, I feel like something inside him might’ve snapped when he committed the murder.”
I regained control of my breathing enough to ask, “Like, a psychotic break?”
“Something like that, yeah. Which is why I’m so concerned. With this level of brutality, there’s a high probability that he’s already mentally devolving, and he could potentially go on to target other women who haven’t been able to follow through with their pregnancies.” He put the file down and finally turned to look at me, noticing my expression as I steadied myself on one of the conference table chairs.
“Lex, are you ok?”
“I’m fine. It’s just more gruesome than I expected it to be. I’ll be ok,” I insisted when his face fell, “It just caught me off guard.”
“I know, that’s why I warned you - are you sure you’re alright? Do you want… a hug? Or water, or something? I don’t know -”
I smiled a bit, my heart warming against my will at his concern. But my mind quickly dipped back into a territory that was a familiar distraction, and I smirked.
“As much as I’d love your hands on my body, I think I’ll have to take you up on that offer another time.”
He blushed, and I laughed, taking in a deep breath before returning my attention to the pictures on the board.
“Ok. So, what all do I need to know? Like, what’s going on here? Because from what I can tell, she was stabbed, and this guy - assuming it’s Brian, of course - fucking knows what he’s doing. No fingerprints, footprints, anything?”
“Nothing. The CSI team searched the entire house. The only noteworthy thing that we found were trace amounts of the victim - Sarah, sorry - her blood in the bathroom sink, in the bathroom across the hall from the kitchen. But there’s nothing at the crime scene that can directly connect the crime to anyone specific.”
“So how the hell are we going to prove it’s him?”
“Well, we always try to come into every case with no suspects in mind, so that it doesn’t impact our profile at all. Brian was the police’s prime suspect, he has been since the beginning - the husband almost always is, in these scenarios, unless they have a really good alibi - and I think he looks good for it now, but we didn’t know that when writing this.”
He handed me the file he’d been reading, open to a page that was a written account of their original profile.
“This is where I feel like you can help us most; I mean, you met Brian, didn’t you? Like, you attended their wedding, at the very least?”
“I met him a grand total of one time, at the wedding. I wasn’t in the wedding party, but I met him when I was talking to Sarah. He pretty much avoided me the whole time, which in retrospect, should’ve been a red flag, but I guess I didn’t really notice. When I did talk to him though, he was really rude. Like, he’d give me curt, one word answers, and then directly after disengaging from conversation with me, he’d turn around and start whispering to some of his buddies that were in the wedding party - the best man and all that shit - and gestured towards me. I still have no idea what he was saying, honestly.”
“Perfect - I mean, not perfect that he treated you like that, of course, that’s awful, and I’m sorry; I said ‘perfect’ because it means you can confirm that he matches up with the profile behaviorally. My mind kind of jumped ahead -”
“Spence, calm down. I understood what you meant.”
I felt a blush creep up the back of my neck at the accidental nickname, and I saw the same thing happen to him as we both came to an unspoken agreement to ignore it.
“Right. Ok. Um, anyway, would you mind reading over the profile and seeing if you think it sounds like a good description of him? Since you have the most experience with him outside of an interrogation room.”
I agreed, turning my direction to the profile I had in my hands.
The unsub is most likely male, and based on the overkill at the crime scene, most likely someone with a personal connection to the victim. Based on the disorganized nature of the kill, he is probably younger - late teens to early twenties - and has probably never killed before. However, there is a high probability that he is someone with deep rooted anger issues, and that may have caused him some problems in his life before this. He may have a history of issues at work or school from lashing out over small frustrations, and it’s most likely gotten him in trouble throughout his lifetime. Sarah was small, so it wouldn’t be hard to overpower her, but based on the blood spatter patterns, we do know that the unsub is right-handed, and slightly taller than the victim.
I skimmed the rest of the paper - which just contained concluding notes and instructions for local police - before looking back up at Spencer, who was staring at me as I read.
“It definitely sounds like him. I mean, based on what I know about him at least. Like I said, he generally avoided me - though there was this one time when they first started dating, before Sarah cut me off entirely,” The memory came rushing back to me, and I was shocked I hadn’t thought of it sooner, “I had already gone to my room for the night when I heard her return from a date with him. She was crying. I was going to go ask her what was wrong, but my mom beat me to it, seeing as both of my parents were in the living room watching TV when she got back. I heard her telling them that her and Brian had gotten into an argument. I can’t remember what they were arguing about, but the gist of it was that it was something completely ridiculous. And yet, she was crying like he had really hurt her. My parents were consoling her, so I just went back to bed, but honestly it sounds like he could’ve been aggressive, and that’s why she was so upset - I don’t know anything for sure, I only know what I overheard. But it would make sense.”
“But you’re immediately making assumptions to make him fit the profile; that’s exactly why we don’t go into cases with any suspects in mind. It’s an interesting conversation, and I’m happy you remembered it, but we can’t assume he was being aggressive just because your sister was upset.”
“That’s true… so where does that leave us?” I plopped down in one of the chairs, throwing my feet up on the table and laughing when Spencer gave my action the same look of disgust that he did when I put my feet up in the interrogation room.
“Do you think that he fits the profile?” He asked. I nodded.
“The age is a bit off - he’s 27, so it’s more late than early twenties - but everything else fits what I know about him perfectly.”
“Age is the hardest thing to profile, so it would make sense if that’s a little bit off.”
“So you really think he killed Sarah?”
“I mean, all signs point to him - I feel like we at least need to find a way to keep tabs on him. If he is the killer, then he’s devolving. Despite the lack of evidence at the crime scene, the crime itself would still be classified as disorganized, and disorganized crime scenes usually point to the unsub being more unpredictable, unstable. Like I said, I think he might’ve snapped when he killed your sister. Which means that other people could be in danger.”
“Well if people are in danger, then why don’t you tell the police chief or something? We need to get Brian back in here, or at the very least we need to get someone to stay up to date on his location. I don’t know what you guys have jurisdiction to do.”
“I’m not sure we’re going to be able to get him back in here without any actual forensic evidence… I’m calling Hotch right now. Give me a second - hey Hotch,” He had his phone up to his ear, and he filled Hotch in on his thoughts about the case. He paused his profiling for a minute to defend why he was still awake and working, but after about five minutes he hung up the call, turning back to me.
“The team’s on their way.”
“And they know I’m here?” I had heard him tell Hotch that I was, but I wasn’t sure if he was going to tell everyone else.
“Yes; I’m assuming Hotch will fill them in, at least. Your confirmation of the profile is what made him agree to come in - having Brian as a confirmed prime suspect gives us grounds to move forward.”
I nodded my understanding before asking, “When do you think they’ll be here?”
“The hotel they’re staying at is only about five minutes away - we always try to stay in hotels near the police stations in the cities that we’re staying in, that way we’re able to move quickly if we need to. I mean, there was one time where the team stayed directly at the unsub’s house, but that was an… exception.” His face slowly fell as he finished the sentence, almost as if he regretted saying it, but I was too intrigued to wonder why.
“Directly at the unsub’s house? Holy shit - what happened on that case?”
“Well, uh, I actually got kidnapped?” He phrased it like a statement, but the way he said it sounded more like a question. Probably questioning whether or not he should even be telling me this.
“Oh my god, Spencer, I am so sorry.”
“No no it’s fine, it was about two years ago at this point,” He was trying to shut down the conversation, but I’d be lying if I said that finding out that the man in front of me had been kidnapped wasn’t concerning information.
“Two years is not that long… are you ok?”
“I’m fine. I mean, I’ve gotten counseling… there are still days where I - you know what? My traumatic past isn’t important right now. You - you don’t need to be worrying about me; I’m sorry that I brought it up, I was just talking and not processing what I was saying and -”
“Spence.” He was rambling now, his hands moving quickly as he spoke, anxiety clearly clouding his mind. I grabbed his hands to still them, stopping him from speaking. “It’s ok. I asked what happened, you don’t need to worry about me worrying about you. Honestly, I just wanted to make sure that you were alright, that sounds fucking awful.”
“It was.” He looked like he was going to say something else, but he glanced down at my hands holding his, and cleared his throat, a blush coloring his features as he pulled his hands from mine. “It was. But I really am ok now. Trust me.”
“Ok,” I nodded, trying to ignore the way that my heart stung when he practically ripped his hands from mine, “I’m glad.”
He gave me an awkward tight-lipped smile, something I’d noticed him do a lot, and I was about to start another conversation when I heard the conference room door open. Both of our heads snapped in the direction of the sound, and we turned to see the team pouring in through the door.
“Lex Raymond, I assume?” Hotch asked. I rose from my seat, nodding and accepting the handshake he offered me. The rest of the team took seats around the table, and I noticed multiple of them desperately chugging coffee out of disposable paper cups. Someone passed one up to Spencer, who was standing in front of the board still. I took my seat again, and a man sitting near the back of his table leaned back a bit in his chair before addressing Spencer.
“Alright pretty boy, tell us what you got.”

JIKOOK SINDAY DRABBLE
Author’s note: My girl @softjiminsworld just had a birthday on the 15th. So... she requested a Jikook Sinday Drabble and I’m a little late because life sucks, but here you go sugar! 💜
Warnings/Preface: If you don’t like Jikook/Kookmin or whatever you wanna call them, that’s fine. Just don’t bring the hate to my blog. Love comes in all shapes and sizes and we will probably never know if they’re a thing unless they want. This is PURELY FICTION and I’m making no assumptions about their lives. Please be warned, this is smut, so if you’re not about that, don’t read on. You’ve been warned. On that note, heed the symbols!: 🔥💕 because they gotta be a little sweet behind all the spicy!
Post writing note: There isn’t a whole lot of graphic smut. It’s talked about lightly, compared to other smut I’ve seen, and I hope that doesn’t upset anyone. There’s a blow job. Though it’s... a sort of first time type of thing? Jungkook is... soft for Jimin. And Jimin is territorial. And there’s some sweet Jikook stuff at the end. It was shorter than intended... but I hope you like it!

He was staring and he knew it. But how was one not supposed to look at the divine creation that was Park Jimin when he was like this? Practicing for the MMA performances had been a bit stressful right after coming off of vacation. Not that it had been that much of a vacation, and not that they were out of shape. The hustle and bustle and drag of their old schedule right before break came snapping back with a painful sting like a rubber band pulled back too far. Even he, the king of pain endurance, was almost to his limit.
This was a good distraction.
Jin had dropped a bowl of ramen in his lap as he sat cross legged on the rehearsal room floor, obediently watching as his hyung spun and flipped and twisted and rolled in the most beautiful ways. His limbs moved like water, eyes closing when he really got into it, the cloth he held flowing behind him merely an extension of his body. How he wished he had his good camera. His phone would have to do.
The sound of the camera dedicating a soft moment to memory shattered it despite Jungkook willing it not to, and Jimin glanced up, smile breaking the serious expression when he realized it was his dear Kookie who had taken a photo. “Jungkook-Ah! I forgot you were here for... well I’m not even sure how long I’ve been in here? What time is it? And when did you get ramen?” Jungkook was already gathering a bite of the saucy noodles for Jimin when he sank to his knees on the floor in front of Jungkook, pillowy lips parted expectantly. “Jin-Hyung brought them because I didn’t come when he called. He even scolded me. I’m surprised you didn’t hear...”
Jimin hummed as he chewed, slurping at the end which made Jungkook giggle and reach out with his sleeve to wipe at the older man’s chin. It had happened on repeat, moments like this, so many times over the last year, and he knew their fans had their speculations about their relationship. Up until this moment he had wondered to himself as well, but when their eyes met? He felt every bit of his resolve that it all meant nothing, that Jimin was only taking care of him, shatter.
His thumb had plucked the soft cushion of Jimin’s lower lip as he swiped over it, and his brain caught the bounce back in slow motion. Jimin’s pupils shrank to a pinpoint nearly as Jungkook lifted his eyes to his, and in that moment everything seemed to stand still. Jimin reached for his bowl and he let him have it, supposing perhaps the man had decided he wanted his serving for himself. Instead, it was sat aside, near the door, as Jimin’s bare feet padded across the cushioned floor to lock it. What came after Jungkook never could’ve prepared for.
The blur that was Park Jimin hit his chest like a bag of cement, and the press of eager lips that followed it made sure Jungkook felt like he’d been punched free of every ounce of air he had contained before. But oh how it soothed afterwards? The softness of Jimin’s lips contrasted the burn of need that had built up for years when Jungkook parted his lips to voice his confusion. The sound, however, left as a soft moan and it was swallowed up as Jimin slid over his thighs to straddle him.
There was the sensation of fingers in his hair that distracted from the rush of blood to his groin as he all but surrendered to the kiss, brain finally recomposing and catching up to what was happening. He was kissing Jimin. Well... he was now. Fisting the material of Jimin’s shirt, he tugged it off and over Jimin’s limbs and head and threw it, a needy sound leaving him as those delicate fingers became white hot daggers dragging lines up his abs under his shirt and making him shiver like they were cold.
“Kookie, tell me to stop if you want me to...”
It was a warning, or permission to back out, but he had never left something undone and at this point he was sure he didn’t want to. Nipping at Jimin’s bottom lip in an answer, he ducked out of the material in the next moment to allow Jimin to strip him of his sweatshirt. “Don’t stop.” Was that his voice? He sounded more like Yoongi than himself just then and he was sure it had a lot to do with desire. How long had he felt like this? And Jimin? How long had they denied this?
“I want you so bad, Kookie. Please let me have you...” Saying no wasn’t an option, but fear of never being on this side of... anything near this made him gasp softly. “Jiminssi, I’ve... I’ve never...” The older man nods softly, biting his own lip until there is an obvious dent. “That’s ok... I’ll... I’ll just touch you. And we can... figure everything else out. Do you want me to touch you?” The pathetic whimper and nod that left Jungkook right after made him flush darkly, the pink spreading from his ears all the way to under his pecs. “Yes... please.”
His own hand wasn’t unknown... but the second Jimin broke through the flimsy barrier that was made up of his jeans and boxers, he knew nothing could compare to this. To be touched and explored by another was so foreign yet... he wanted nothing else. Surrendering to the other, he leaned back against the mirror, feeling Jimin shift. The soft nip and suction of lips at his neck and chest dragged a ragged sound from his chest as his hands searched for something to grab. A fistful of hair would do.
And Jimin loved it.
He purred against Jungkook’s ear, his fist now firm and sure as it tightened and pumped. His wrist was rolling slightly, adding a different degree of sensation that made Jungkook squirm. Wiggling down the mirror, he connected their lips again, hips lightly lifting off the floor and into Jimin’s hand as the other watched Jungkook begin to unravel. So many pieces of the younger male had been witnessed but he had never ever seen this.
And it was a masterpiece.
Bunny teeth were slightly concealed by his upper lip as it stretched across them in restraint. Bottom lip jutted out as he moaned, the sound breathy and melodic and almost familiar to Jimin’s ears, like he was singing. “That’s it baby... let me show you what I’ve been wanting to see...” Jungkook answers with a breathless whimper, hand sliding behind him to brace on the cool surface of the mirror, hips rocking up again. Jimin is knelt between his parted thighs, now, tugging his pants lower, and Jungkook swears the room starts to spin.
The heat and the wet from Jimin’s mouth are all over the throbbing surface of his cock, swallowing him up and he can’t breathe. “Oh... oh! Hyung... I... Jiminssi...” How could Jimin had reduced the Maknae into a whimpering, damp eyed mess covered in a pink flush on the floor this easy? His tough exterior had all but melted into a submissive mess on the rehearsal room floor and Jimin was drunk off of it. His eyes fluttered closed as Jungkook lifted his hips too sharply, pressing into the back of his throat.
Exhaling carefully to control the urge to vomit, he made the trip himself so Jungkook didn’t have to, swallowing him up on the descent. It seemed to make Jungkook fall apart a little more, the intensity of being swallowed whole too much for the younger man. “I’m gonna... Hyung you need to... I can’t... please... oh! Fuck!” Jimin didn’t move despite Jungkook’s feeble efforts to move him off before he found himself pumping white hot shots of his release down the back of Jimin’s throat.
Everything felt similar to watching frosting drip down the sides of a cake... or ice cream melting under the sun. His head was thrown back, body jerking in random and slightly embarrassing ways as he realized Jimin had promptly swallowed everything he’d let go of. The proof was shown a second later when Jimin exposed his tongue and teeth and then scooped Jungkook up for another kiss. Limbs feeling rather boneless, Jungkook panted, and grappled with getting up off the floor. “Damn... I... are you ok?”
Jimin laughed again, the light noise a stark contrast from the animalistic sound Jungkook had made moments earlier. “Jungkook-Ah I’m fine... I wanted you to... I promise... come here. God you look so good right now... are you ok?” His hands wandered through his red tipped hair, shoving it back in handfuls as he attempted to find words. “That was incredible... I.... what about you?” The moment seemed to quiet for a moment and Jimin slid into Jungkook’s lap, once more, his fingers resuming the tender stroking.
“We have the rest of the night to practice. You can... find a way to pay me back later, hmm?” Jungkook’s tone dipped when the satoori came, matching Jimin’s as he nodded. “Later? Yeah... we can... continue this. I just... when did you... how long?” He had tasted himself on Jimin’s lips, eyes still focused on them before he forced them up to the others eyes. “Kookie... since the first day... I’ve known I felt differently about you. I just... it took time to get here I guess? It’s not going to be easy... but after the fans started noticing and making theories and gushing about our treatment of each other, I began examining...” “me too...” “Yeah?” Jimin looked at Jungkook fondly, and he blushed, hiding his face in his neck.
“I’m so sorry. This should’ve been more romantic! And thought out!” Jungkook laughed. “Since when do we ever do anything the normal way?! It’s... it’s our thing. You are me.” Jimin nodded. “And I am you. Jungkook-Ah... I want this. For forever.” Jungkook found himself blushing now, lips pursed as he forced his body up to sit eye to eye with Jimin, taking the moment in. “Forever sounds good... we can start there.” Jimin was giggling now, kissing Jungkook’s jaw. “Why do you always have to one up me? Why? Why can’t I win?”
Scoffing at his words, Jungkook shook his head. “You can’t! It’s impossible. Others have tried and failed. I’m the Maknae. The golden one. The master. The lack of all trades! I’m the international play boy!” Jimin snorted, only to whine and attempt to escape when he was easily rolled and pinned. “You’re my international playboy now, though, right?” He added when Jungkook found his gaze. “And you’re my calico cat. Now... let’s see about me returning the favor...”
