Ok more mokuba serenity friendship stuff! No one asked but me but that’s who this blog is for!

Mokuba and serenity kinda happy that their brothers know about their friendship bc it’s not like they were keeping it secret but they weren’t exactly telling seto/Joey whom they were hanging out with either. Also bc it leads to great moments like “seto if you don’t go help fight yugi’s world domination set villain of the month I’ll tell serenity to tell Joey that you have a blue eyes plushie” and “Joey if you don’t help me clean this goddamn apartment so help me god I will tell mokuba to tell seto about the time you slipped and fell face first into your dinner plate”

Mokuba and serenity going to the mall together and serenity giving him fashion advice bc she’s a well dressed queen and his main fashion inspiration is unfortunately seto and business casual capes don’t really fit the high schooler aesthetic.

But serenity is used to being dirt poor and still has that mindset when she shops but plays it off super well she is the window shopping queen of “omg this is so cute I would commit unspeakable crimes to have this” *puts it back* She doesn’t necessarily resent having to do that but Mokuba “grew up taught that money and power are better than love” Kaiba adds particularly nice things to his mental “buy as a birthday present and lie about the price tag” list.

Serenity is more well adjusted among normal society and kids than Mokuba so she’s definitely the one pretending to not notice that he’s alone in the classroom and no she totally just happened to pop in because she forgot something and “omg Mokuba you left your pencil case too? Anyway we’re going out for karaoke/shopping/boba/food hurry up and find it or you’ll be late!”

Much to Joey and Seto’s chagrin Yugi knew about this friendship wayyyy before they did. He’s seen them out before at malls/cafes/whatever and he’s always been friendly with them so he’ll stop by to say hi and he doesn’t mention it to Joey/kaiba bc he’s #not a narc, plus they actually seem like pretty good friends. Once instead of Yugi it’s atem that shows up and Mokuba’s head is spinning bc there’s something different about him right now and This is the guy that his brother totally does not have a crush on (found out about seto x atem yesterday leaning all the way into it)

Even though their sweet tooth is just the initial way they bond they totally research the cafes with the best cakes and will go to whole different cities just to try one dessert. Seto’s actually really glad mokuba has someone to do this with (bc he’s fs a “can’t eat sweets I need a protein shake” bro) and he can admit it’s nice to see his brother out of his shell. And Joey will never admit it under the pain of torture but he relaxes a bit knowing his baby sister is safe under kaibacorp bodyguards when she goes out bc he’s overprotective and so is seto but with more funds

Idk Joey and Seto not coming to love each other by any means but understanding each other better through their more well adjusted siblings. Never acknowledging it but bonding slightly over the fact that they succeeded, all their struggle so that their siblings could be carefree and laugh and be slightly normal worked and their friendship does in fact prove it. Also both being so overprotective that their siblings chafe against it and serenity-mokuba fs complain about their big bros together and Joey-seto don’t exactly share a commiserating grin but their long suffering eye roll at each other will do.

Ok, so, I think I'm gonna write a character analysis for my new joukai fic have the cake. eat the cake. Cuz I'm bored and I love to talk about what I write.

I'll start with Jounouchi

Have the cake. Eat the cake.

Jounouchi Katsuya, 21.

Writing both Jou and Kaiba in this fic is kind of a struggle: in an AU: no millennium objects and no card games, they just know each other from high school, so kaiba doesn't know o doesn't expect how smart Jou actually is.

Because he is smart. Street smart. Jou has been around dangerous crowds since he was fourteen/fifteen, so he knows his way around this kind of stuff. Of course, dealing with tugs is different than dealing with rich people, but he's getting used to that —having worked at the country club every summer since he was 18—, he knows how to behave around this people who think they're better than him.

This is where it gets tricky, because this Jou is not as impulsive as the one in canon, he's still a gambler, but he thinks his plays more thoroughly.

(I can't give anything else away without writing spoilers)

Seto Kaiba, 21.

This Seto is slightly more different. In canon, he becomes KC CEO at sixteen, methinks. He had this absolute control over this billion dollar company and he wills it when he deems necessary, and why is this?

In canon, both Gozaburo and Noa are dead. Here, they're very much alive.

Gozaburo still has control over KC, and yes, Kaiba also has his hands over the company, but not the way we see in canon. Also, the fact that he hasn't had to be a full-time parent for Mokuba plays a key point here. Seto is a little more reckless, a little more ambitious, and a little more willing to do a few unsavory things to get what he wants. Right now, he wants full control over KC.

That's it for now, I'm really writing this for my own amusement and for anyone who's interested in how this AU is gonna go. I want to finish at least the first half of the draft before I start publishing, so it might take a while

#I was trying to make a cake to celebrate Yugis birthday #but I've never decorated a cake before #obviously lol #the icing recipie I used said it was for piping but either it wasn't or I did something wrong...#at least the cursive writing is okay lol #yugi mutou #i imagine if kaiba ever took a baking class this is what would happen #did i mention i cut myself while shaving the tops off of the cake?#because that happened #oh well #it was fun practice anyway

Just rewatched Kaiba... the last four episodes only, I didn't have the energy for all of them... And, boy, I'm still in awe.

It's been over ten years since I first watched this anime and I'm still discovering new things about it... And many times when I learn something new about myself, I remember that it was already depicted in Kaiba.

One of the revelations I had recently was that we always need more cake, or more storytellers telling their versions of the same story - because the more versions there are, the more likely it is that one of them will reach those who need to learn from it... Do you understand?

#i mean i am kinda dumb so maybe it's only important to dumb people but even then more cake means more wisdom for dumb people #and wouldn't that be cool?#ah #I won't say go watch kaiba because this anime isn't for everyone #but if you like melodrama and dystopian sci-fi settings and some sick good artstyle then you might like it i guess

Happy Birthday to my #1 duelist in the world, Seto Kaiba! It's now the 25th October according to Japanese time, meaning his birthday celebrations have officially started! I always like to join the celebrations early, because it always makes me so happy to see people celebrate him! I'm going to share my main birthday post for him tomorrow! I'm so excited to show you all what I have prepared! I worked so hard this year for him💙Last year I promised that I'll finally get him a cake and this year I finally fulfilled it!🎂🩵I don't have a proper kitchen so I sadly couldn't bake a cake for him myself, instead I got him my favorite, a Black Forest gateau! Birthdays.. he didn’t really enjoy them. Not his own , anyways. When it came to yours and Mokuba’s, he found some enjoyment in them. You and his brother’s smile of glee healed his heart just a bit, knowing you two could have the things he never could in his childhood- and now- made him.. happy.

Though, he may not admit it. Not right away, anyways.

His birthday was like any other day, loaded with work. What could he expect? A break on his birthday when he was the head of a giant company? Not a chance. It hardly even crossed his mind that it was his birthday to begin with.

On his way home he may pick up a coffee as a little treat for himself, but other than that, the festivities are pretty much over before they even began.

“I’m ho-,”

“Surprise!” “Happy birthday big bro!”

Little did Kaiba know you and Mokuba had been planning a huge surprise party since his last birthday. His lips parted in as he stared at his now decorated living room and kitchen. Blue and silver ribons all over..

“Hm,” He hummed, a grin settling over his previous look of shock, “Not bad, for the world champion himself.”

He would never admit it, but this is the happiest moment of his life. He didnt have to though, as you could read him like a book. And he was acutely aware of this fact.

Yugi Muto

Yugi has always celebrated his birthday by bringing cupcakes to his class to share the joy. “It’s not as good if you’re celebrating by yourself!” was like his motto, or something.

Afterwards he may invite a few friends over to play Duel Monsters on this special occasion, just for fun of course. Though he didn’t expect you and Grandpa to pop out of the door with a “Happy Birthdayyy Yugiii!!” the moment he got home..! But, it was a pleasant surprise.

“You guys..,” He may tear up a little, “Woah..”

He’s more or less speechless at first, but he makes sure to show his gratitude through physical affection such and holding your hand and hugging you tight.

Atem / Yami Yugi

The pharaoh is rather used to celebrations of days such as his birth, or the anniversary of his crowning- it’s hard to ignore the public’s gratitude. But, he was used to it by now. Their weren’t a lot of surprises on days like these anymore.

He spends most of the day in his study writing down the past few major events on papyrus sheets. His ability to write out perfect hieroglyphic symbols still impressed you to this day, honestly.

When he had finally decided to put his quill down for the night he noticed the sounds of excited squealing from the pharaohs sleeping chambers. His dear Queen/King, what could you be up to now, he wondered? You were always warm and happy like the sun, he wondered if you ever could truly harbor hatred for another human.

As he stepped into the temples sleeping chambers he was immediately met with the sight of red and white lights illuminating the walls, and petals covering the ground. He wasnt very good at expressing it, but it made his heart flutter. Making his way to your shared qaurters .. wow.. before him was a heartwarming sight.

You, his lovely queen/king sitting in a pure satin laced night gown, holding out a cake to him. ‘I ♡ you Atem!’ was written across it with icing.

His lip trembled, it brought him such .. happiness that you found him this precious to you with no strings attached. He took the cake and nodded his head;

“Thank you, my- my dear..”

Ryou Bakura

▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰

Ryou had lived alone for quite a while, so.. on his birthdays, there was never anything to look forward to to begin with. Plus, what if he shared a birthday with someone else? He.. didn’t want to be a bother by bringing it up.

This is why none of his classmates ever batted an eye on his birthday; he never told them about it. But you..

Oh, he couldn’t hide a thing from you. In the end you had forced his birthday out of him- it turned out you were right. You shared your birthday.

On his way home from a tournament, he’s fully intent on buying you the best gift he can find! Stepping into your favorite little shop he immediately spots what he’s gonna get; a huge Hello Kitty plush that’s way bigger than either of you. Thank god the clerk running the check out was able to smush it down into one of their bags.

That would make it a much bigger surprise!

Opening the door to your apartment he’s greeted with the sweet smell of strawberry shortcake. Oh wow.. he was so lucky. If one thing was clear, you knew the way to his heart ; good, homemade food.

He made his way to the kitchen, the sight of presents piled on the table making him stop in his tracks. His cheeks flooded with a dark hue of red, brown eyes softening like a puppy begging for food. Could it be? Had .. you really done this all for him? On your birthday too? Oh.. oh wow.

He had never felt so loved.

The whole night was just like a dream come true- what he had always imagined real birthdays to be like! You’d both gotten presents from your friends, and you had gotten him a deck of all the rarest cards you could find.

“My fairy.. you shouldnt have..!”

Yami Bakura / Thief King Bakura

The entire day you were by his side, on such a special day that should have been celebrated for milenia.. he didnt want his pretty prince/princess wandering from him. Though the days prior you had set up a small ‘party’ in your home.

After cheering him on in a duel against some chump- who was it? Oh, right. Kaiba, who he obviously won against; you brought him back home, making sure to stop at little shops you both liked to buy him treats.

“C’mon Bakura!” You called, “I have a surprise!”

“Tsk, so eager. I never quite understood birthdays, anyways..”

He grumbled but followed en-suite. He had no such good memories of birthdays. His was hardly ever celebrated, instead that Pharaohs was what everyone gushed over. But no matter, back then he could have always just stolen himself any trinket he desired - it didn’t even need to be his stupid birthday.

As the two of you returned you took the pale hand of his host’s body and lead him inside. His eyes widened at the view.. so many sets of cards.. so many random trinkets, and a table set full of food, drinks, cake- everything.

“I knew there was a reason we were destined to be together, my Prince/Princess..”

Marik Ishtar

From his earliest memory of it, his birthday has always been a dreaded time in his life. One year closer to having to accept the ritual. And when that time finally arrived, his birthday had officially been deamed the worst day of the year. Somedays, he wished he had never been born at all.

It was no wonder it took him a good while to open up to you about his past, and even what day his birthday was. He wished he could just purge the day from the year. It would make everything much.. easier.

On the “special” day he had locked himself away in his room, hugging his pillow just- just waiting for it to be over. The memories he had to relive- the stinging from his tattoos.

But.. hearing your voice from outside he almost immediately shot up.

“My Prince, may I come in?..”

You were acutely aware of how hard this day was for him. But that’s why you wanted to give him some new, good memories of it. When he opened the door you brought him into your warm embrace, seeing the tears in his eyes broke your heart. He was.. comfortable being vulnerable around you. And that meant something- it meant a great deal to you. You hushed him softly, humming a sweet tune.

“I dont want to be seen like this.. come in.” He grumbled, “Not even Odion can see me cry anymore.”

The tan boy pulled you in, locking the door behind you two. He sat you down by his side on the edge of his bed. You watched with a small frown as he wiped the tears from his eyes and his sniffling nose.

“Marik.. I have a gift for you, my pharaoh.”

“What?..!.. Please dont- nno- dont do it to me again-..!”

Marik immediately pulled back, pulling his rod out as quick as he could. That look of fear in his eyes- you’d never seen it before. You shook your head, pulling out a small box.

“Please trust me, it’s something good.”

With your reassurance he lowered his gaurd just a bit.. but he was still weary. That was until you pulled- could it be? The Millenium.. the Millenium Eye from your little box. You held it out to him. He silently took it , rolling it around in his palms.

“Happy Birthday, my Prince.”

Here are Most of my Yami Bakura head canons (some of them are kinda angsty)

Yami Bakura is really really good at applying eyeliner and mascara, but is dog shit at applying any other makeup.

When he's really stressed he scratches at his face and arms as hard as he can, which led to Ryou having to cut his nails so he wouldn't come back into consciousness with scratches everywhere because Yami Bakura was overwhelmed.

He has a fear of fire, but because he likes smoking he just closes his eyes when he needs a light.

He gets cold easily.

He loves dogs! If they didn't absolutely despise him they'd be his favorite animal. He settled for cobras because they seem to have unconditional love and adoration for him.

The reason Yugi, Anzu, Jonouchi, and Honda’s dolls all looked so different from Ryou's doll is because Yami Bakura made them.

He loves Godzilla movies and tried to convince Ryou to give Dark Master Zorc an atomic blast, but was shot down due to Ryou not knowing he existed. (Ryou would absolutely give DM Zorc an atomic blast)

Yami Bakura loves sweet things like cake and candy. His favorite pastry is chocolate filled croissants. He prefers it when they have the traditional croissant shape because it's easier for him to eat.

Isn't a fan of horror movies unless it's body horror or really really fucking stupid.

He likes biting his partners. Not just chomping on their skin either, he likes to nibble and really get his teeth all up in their skin. They can't bite back though because he's ticklish and will slap them really hard.

He likes to sleep in weird places. Underneath tables, in front of balcony windows, bathtubs, inside the couch.

He is a certified boob enjoyer. Doesn't matter what size. He likes all of them.

He likes neutral colors. Blacks, grays, whites, browns, and tans. Sometimes yellow.

He ate someone once. Full on cannibalized them. Only regret is that he kinda tasted bad.

He loves cats! They're not his favorite, but he loves them because they are soft and they love him back. (Dogs are the only animals that don't like him)

He doesn't like hummus. No particular reason. He just does not like it.

Completely tuned out everything Marik said after he was told his name. Everything else was in one ear and out the other.

Pretty chill with bugs unless they're flies, roaches, locusts, crickets, and grasshoppers. He doesn't like those at all.

In the situation where he got a redemption, I don't think he'd feel bad for the Yugi gang or almost ending the world. I think he just wouldn't see the point in taking revenge anymore because it obviously just wasn't working out. He isn't killing people anymore though! (He feels a little bad about Ghost and Ryou tho. He went a little overboard on them.)

He can't walk in heels over 2 inches.

He's actually really insecure about his dueling skills since he doesn't like the game that much, but he literally needs to play it.

He really likes flowers and gardening.

He keeps a copy of Tragoedia in his wallet, for memories sake.

He is incredibly touch starved, but he also feels like he doesn't really deserve to be touched in a soft and tender way. He doesn't like being kissed or hugged because that's just too gentle and loving, being bit tickles and that makes him feel too vulnerable. He can't help that he feels this way, but he just can't accept that someone actually loves him.

He stole his black trench coat from Kaiba.

Out of all of Ryou's friends, I imagine that Honda is the one he hates the least. He doesn't really do anything, and he protects Ryou from danger, so there isn't much to hate about him other than the fact he's friends with Yami.

The Yami he knows is the same Yami that burned people alive, blew people up, blew out people's eardrums, fed people to monsters, made people die a few times, and threatened to rip off people's legs. That's the Yami he knows, and he's terrified of him.

His favorite video game series is Dark Souls.

If Yami Bakura accepts the love of someone, he starts to purposely hurt them so they can stay home with him. He's subtle about it, so it's hard to tell if it's on purpose or not.
