one thing about the tma & tmp writers is I know they understand having a job where the social vibes are incredibly strange. I appreciate their commitment to depicting work environments that are so unnecessarily stressful where everyone is trying to backstab everyone and form alliances but meanwhile it's just filing items on a computer. The petty drama feels very true to life

Uh, yeah, they’d be friends, after she’d suss him out (does he treat Nancy and Steve well?) and then they’d talk movies and music and geeky shit all day long. They’d at least have common interests or be friendly. Steve mentioned them all hanging out so he’d be more than down - it seems like Steve wants to be friends with Jonathan too (or at least squash the awkwardness between them, or politely support him since he loves Nancy). I can definitely imagine Jon and Rob debating the symbolism in Evil Dead. But don’t get it twisted, NOBODY will do it for Robin like Steve. That’s her ride or die. AU of the Evil Tim AU where Tim is still terrible and violent and taking over the Chicago underworld with all the ruthless efficiency of an invasive species chewing it’s way through the local ecosystem, but instead of staging a coup against Jon, Jon is just kind of… there?

Post-TEC and the courts Jon finds himself more exhausted than ever before running Fission Chips, and that makes it easy for Tim to manipulate him, but while Tim does take advantage of this to keep his own criminal exploits largely from Jon’s knowledge, he also doesn’t really hurt him. There’s not much point to it, and though he’d never admit it, as much as Tim wants to build his own criminal empire once again and tear apart the fairy world… he doesn’t want to do it alone. Such partnerships he takes seriously, lovesick man that he is. As devastated as him separating from Angeline made him, that will never change.

Jon’s not involved in Tim’s crimes- to some extent he’s aware the man is up to something, but he’s too tired to care. As long as he’s not hurt, as long as Tim still comes home most nights, that’s enough for him. It’s more than he’s used to. Tim comes home late every night with blood on his clothes and a distant coldness in his expression that won’t ever really melt again, but Jon takes his hands in his own anyways and helps him scrub the blood from them, the raven-haired man the only thing to drag Jon away from his laptop and to bed. It’s not a particularly affectionate relationship, but there’s a strange sort of softness to it, even as Tim becomes crueler and crueler to those other than the man he goes home to every night.

Jon’s aware of what Tim is becoming but he doesn’t have it in him to care as long as he’s still treated #- gently. that’s all he wants really. he’s tired of that kind of violent life even as he accepts it will never leave him… but if that’s what #- Tim wants for himself who’s to stop him?

I have an idea for an angsty somewhere else AU. It's where all the avatars get pulled into the somewhere else with the fears. Avatars being those who had a domain of their own. Not wanting to kill Jon, Martin cut the tether by blinding him. This results in Jon no longer being and avatar and he says in the original world, while Martin is an avatar so he gets dragged off to the new world.
