I'm in pain.
In the last few days, my nerve pain moved from my albow to my fingers and my back. It's horrible. Idk why it's happening (is is my chronic illness or side effects of the med or option c something else entirely? Unclear).
As in all times of extreme pain, I feel so fucking lonely. Pain is so isolating. To quote John Green in the video titled On Pain: "No matter how many similes and metaphors you employ to describe the pain, no matter how many times you pinch the people you love to try to get them to understand, no one can ever quite know what it's like to have your pain anymore than you can know what it's like to have someone else's. Pain is a reminder that you are alone inside your body, that no one else can access your consciousness and that what you call yourself is, at least in some ways, a kind of prison from which there is no earthly escape. And that's like horror-movie-level terrifying if you think about it long enough. And that’s how I feel at least when pain is turning me inward and inward in an ever-tightening spiral." (it's a great video. I return to it when I have a flare and it's worth watching in its entirety).
In an attempt to get out of the spiral of pain and loneliness, I think about how other people experience chronic pain. That's why it's so important to see representation. Because loneliness is a poison to the soul. But this time I'm thinking about Ashton Greymoore as well.
Idk how their story will unfold. I don't like to get attached to characters until the campaign is done, but Ash is already important to me. I have no doubt that whatever happen, they'll stay in my mind because I see so much of myself in them. I'm extremely grateful to Taliesin for making them. I feel seen and less alone.

Hi Everyone,
Today I want to blog about gender, as a by product personality. It’s not that I think gender is one personality, even if you believe in only two, there’s treats and characteristics that form into a system. The Big 5 is an evidence based framework to reimagine gender, for a moment.
Because our lives are intricately woven by the threads of personality traits, and these traits are universal, often transcending boundaries of gender and sexual orientation is a by product of an overall personality system. People don’t come along express this transcendence, with out first, expressing something like imaginative, innovative or open to experience. Thus if personality is both genetic and environmental, so to is the collective personality that takes form here in earth as gender and orientation. So, gender and orientation are specifically now, we're going to be talking about it, but not directly by names, but as Big Five traits like: openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism (John, Naumann, & Soto, 2008). It’s here, that we can say gender almost exclusively certainly but some of us, have more of this, the adaptive and maladaptive, than others. While individuals may vary, collectives have a general tendency, something we can measure as “feminine”, and masculine”, or both, we can even say maladaptive and adaptive. Depending on the time location and era that this personality comes to be, too. If there is beginning, certainly there is a middle, and end to duration and frequency of that too.
The Big Five: A Brief Overview
Openness encapsulates our willingness to embrace new experiences and ideas, fostering creativity and innovation (McCrae & Sutin, 2009). Conscientiousness, our sense of responsibility and dependability, often promotes success in professional environments and healthier lifestyles (Bogg & Roberts, 2004). However,
Extraversion, our level of outgoingness and social interaction, can bolster our social lives and help us form new relationships (Ashton, Lee, & Paunonen, 2002). Agreeableness, characterized by kindness, empathy, and cooperation, often strengthens social bonds and aids in conflict resolution (Graziano & Tobin, 2009).
Neuroticism, a tendency towards negative emotions, can pose challenges, contributing to mental health issues, but it can also be associated with high levels of creativity and a deep sense of empathy (Kaufman, 2013).
Diving Deeper: Traits Across Sexual Orientations
Research suggests that people of different sexual orientations may show variations in these Big Five personality traits. For example, studies have found that gay men and women might score higher on neuroticism and openness compared to their heterosexual counterparts (Lippa, 2005). Similarly, bisexual individuals may exhibit higher openness and extraversion compared to heterosexual individuals (Juster et al., 2013).
A Look at Androgyny
When we consider the concept of androgyny, it refers to the display of both traditional masculine and feminine characteristics. However, it's not just about appearance or behavior; it's also about personality traits. Androgynous individuals often show a higher degree of flexibility in their personality traits, potentially blending the strengths of both genders (Bem, 1974).
Concluding Thoughts
In sum, the Big Five personality traits are a universal aspect of human nature, but they can manifest in subtly different ways across different sexual orientations. Understanding these nuances not only helps us appreciate the rich diversity of human personalities but also challenges traditional notions of gender and sexual orientation.

Just saw someone describe a “holy trinity” of fantasy authors as J. R. R. Tolkien, C. S. Lewis, and Mervyn Peake. Um…what? Lewis is not on any adult’s list of most significant fantasy writers (except “significant to my childhood”, I suppose).
And Peake’s work isn’t really fantasy at all; Castle Gormenghast is a Ruritania where what is basically the British aristocracy practice what are essentially the rites of Chinese ancestor-worship. (“So, the Church of England?” I might say, were I slightly meaner than I actually am.) Ruritania is not fantasy.
I would say, like, Tolkien, Robert Howard, and…Ursula K. LeGuin? Maybe?
I mean I’d like to say Fritz Leiber or Clark Ashton Smith for the third one but the latter, particularly, is very niche, and the former is just Howard as a slightly better-rounded person. (Huh, apparently Leiber coined “sword and sorcery”. Who knew.)
Jack Vance casts a disproportionately long shadow by inventing the magic system D&D uses (but not inventing Dying Earth fantasy, because Smith’s Zothique already did). Larry Niven, of all fucking people, introduced the anthropological concept of “mana”, used by everyone that doesn’t use Vancian. (I still wanna know why anthropologists egregiously overgeneralized the specifically Polynesian concept of mana, even though we already have a word for that, namely “numen”, technical term of Roman religion.)
And then there’s Roger Zelazny, Poul Anderson, and (ugh) Marion Zimmer Bradley (I hated her before I knew she deserved it, because she always came off as “John Norman for lesbians”; now we just know she did in real life what Norman only fantasized about like a creepo). C. J. Cherryh is underappreciated as a fantasy writer (and in every other genre she writes in), but I still think we have to give it to LeGuin, since she’s the only one as well-known as Tolkien or Howard. (Which is why Vance and Niven don’t get it, despite everyone using mana or occasionally Vancian: nobody knows those are theirs.)

Jottings from Jeannie: "It Can Happen to You"  Actuaries report that every 32 years a person can expect to be involved in a driving accident.   Does anyone keep statistics on how often an Oconee County resident is apt to lose  eyeglasses in one of our lakes?  Linda at the WALMART Vision Center declares, it's an everyday tragedy.  One of her clients  even hired a professional diver to retrieve his very costly specs from the deep.  I have scoffed at Sister Jerri who deposits a pair of designer shades into Lake Cherokee every time she visits.  No more scoffing from me, since MY $800 prescription glasses slipped off and sashayed in a zig zag pattern until being  claimed by a moon-eyed fish.  Pops used to say, "In this life, it's not the evil for which we are punished (that may come later)... in this life we are punished for galactical carelessness."  I thought about his warning, as I spent the better part of a  gorgeous day driving into Walmart Vision Center and writing the lovely Linda another $800 check.  Count me among the ranks of the galactically careless!  Miz Jeannie loves you and reminds you to quit rushing around.  Take time to be careful with your possessions AND to be especially careful with the people God has given you to love.   MIZ JEANNIE                                                                                                             JOCASSEE VALLEY BREWING COMPANY,(JVBC) & COFFEE SHOP 13412 N Hwy 11 Open  Wed–Sat-Sat 8am-9pm. VELVET BUZZSAW (2019) Grade: C-
Felt like a long-winded twilight zone episode. Would had been a better mini series with character actors & not big names.

Ashton; Hey, man. Did you touch my drum set?
Michael; Nope.
Ashton; It’s just weird ‘cause...it seems like someone definitely touched my drum set.
Michael; Yeah, that is weird, ‘cause I didn’t touch ‘em
Ashton; I know you touched my drum STICK. ‘Cause the left one has a chip in it!
Michael; Are you fucking crazy, man? You sound insane. Do you realize that? You should be medicated.
Ashton; Fuck you, Michael! I know you touched my drum set, and I wanna hear that dirty little mouth admit it!
Michael; You get out of my face, or I’m gonna roundhouse your ass!
Ashton; You swear on your mom’s life you didn’t touch it then?!
Michael; I don’t have to swear to shit!
