Whatever your views, I urge you to watch the entire proceedings (this is only day one). This is your responsibility as a voting member of your country, a taxpayer, and a person who, at the very least, values the rule of law.

in regards to the international court of justice ruling in favor of south africa's case, PLEASE do not fall into imperialistic pessimism. this is an unprecedented moment in history. even if the icj doesn't have absolute power to dismantle colonial forces (which no institution in the world has), even if there's still a long way to go between this ruling and a ceasefire, even if there's still so much to be done, this is the first time the occupational forces in palestine have been faced with this amount of international opposition, and it is strong international opposition that causes colonial forces to fall. do not fall into the "this is a theatre", "this is just symbolic", "this means nothing" discourse. bringing about freedom to palestine, and all colonized nations and peoples, includes judicial bureaucracy just as much as boycotting, violent opposition, blockades, sanctions etc. there has to be an official international position on the matter, and this is it. the icj ruling won't stop the occupation forces, but without this ruling things would be that much harder for the palestinian cause on the world stage. let's keep going from here.

ENGLISH TRANSLATION:
I don't know who they are [the people buried]. Every time I pass by here, I stop and say hello. We found them weeks ago lying and covered in their own blood in the middle of the road, two young men in the flower of their youth seemed as if they are sleeping. We buried them in the eastern region of Al Saraya.
I am sorry to all the unidentified martyrs. I am sorry to every martyr we did not bury till now. I am sorry to all the martyrs we couldn't register the names of or save their pictures. I am sorry to every martyr who offered his soul for the land [Gaza/Palestine] and wasn't given his own grave to rest in. I am sorry to my friend Refaat @/itranslate123 who has been under the rubble for 40 days and still is. I am sorry once to the martyrs we know, and a thousand times for those we don't.
END OF TRANSLATION

The idea of having a loved one killed and buried without my knowledge is terrifying. However, it is the reality of many Palestinians who bury unidentified martyrs, and the Palestinians who cannot find their family members and do not know whether they're still alive or not. We must keep talking about Palestine, and we must keep exposing the crimes of the Israeli occupation!

BREAKING NEWS: The International Court of Justice finds that there is sufficient basis for South Africa’s case against Israel and will not dismiss the case as Israel requested.
This is truly an historic moment.
Very well done, South Africa 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿

From Al Jazeera, explaining the ICJ verdict in the South Africa/Israel case.
This is nowhere near enough (no ceasefire and Israel has not been ordered to stop its military operations in Gaza) but it’s a step in the right direction. We need to use this ruling to pressure Israel’s allies to stop funding and supporting the genocide.

There's an issue I would like to comment on. If your first instinct when seeing a Palestinian being religious/praying/praising God/etc. during such times is to shove down your atheistic beliefs down their throats, you're an a-hole. I mean anything along the lines of "But where is God in all this?" Or "But why isn't God stopping this?" or anything simply questioning the existence of God. It is extremely disrespectful and tone deaf. The majority of Palestinians find strength because of their religious beliefs, Muslims and Christians. Just because you have different beliefs, it does not give you the right to attack theirs or be THIS tone deaf and disrespectful during such horrifying times. Your beliefs are for yourself, not for you to shove them down the throats of those who find comfort in religion in the middle of being ethnically cleansed. Be mindful of what you say!

I do not have much faith in what the outcome will be given what a joke the United Nations is, and how certain countries so obviously stand above international law (including the US and Israel) and it’s also obvious Israel took the accusations as a joke if you watched the hearing (it’s on YouTube on Al Jazeera) but regardless, having Israel’s crimes highlighted, and Israel’s ridiculous lazy response shown to the world makes me feel slightly better.
