watson getting shot in canon was always like MY johnlock moment back in the day. i always felt like literally no one seemed to care about it for some reason despite it being like one of the wildest scenes in canon. probably bc the rest of the story is kinda unremarkable. but dude that’s watson and he’s shot and sherlock is freaking out and promising that he would have killed the guy had he killed watson while watson thinking wow… it was literally worth getting shot (again) bc now i know he cares . my tumblr url at the time was fourth-garrideb bc the story was called the three garridebs that’s how much i loved this scene . but no one else had garrideb themed urls ☹️ i don’t even remember how the rest of the story goes but how do you pay so little attention to the SCENE WHERE THE PROTAGONIST GETS SHOT

I love your butch!Bea AU, so maybe something where Ava is just a silly little guy and Bea is just so done with Avas tomfoolery
‘do you have to be so…’
you grin. ’so what, bea?’
‘it’s just not going to work,’ she says, utterly worn down. it’s fun, though, to be honest, making her huff and roll her eyes and laugh at your antics with no stakes involved.
‘well, how do you know?’
you watch with a fair amount of delight when she goes through, quite passionately, a list of everything known about the halo and its healing capabilities, its protective nature over you and the ones you care for. she’s in a soft, big hoodie and blue socks that are wearing out at the heels — her favorites, so she’s reluctant to part with them, you think — curled up on the edge of the comfortable couch in your living room, a pillow in her lap. she’d gone to the barber yesterday, as she does every three weeks like clockwork now, and her fade is as neat as you’ve ever seen it, the short top, an inch long, perfect for you to run your fingers through, as far as you’re concerned, messy from sleep. her glasses are a little smudged and she’s languishing with her cup of coffee so, even though she could kill a man in less than a second and has been into triathlons (terrible) lately — you are not intimidated or deterred by her in the slightest.
there’s a whoosh of sulfur and then mary and lilith are popping into your house, effectively stopping beatrice’s laundry list of reasons your plan will never work.
‘what’s he trying to do now?’ mary says, headed to the kitchen while lilith settles into her favorite reading chair, seemingly disengaged but you know she’s listening.
beatrice looks pointedly at you.
‘i’m feeling like doing something impulsive,’ you announce.
‘you? impulsive?’ lilith scoffs — a point for you, though, because she was paying attention. ‘who would’ve thought?’
‘whatever,’ you say, no bite in it. ‘i thought it would be fun to get a piercing, but beatrice is claiming i can’t.’
‘you want to pierce your —‘
she turns red without even saying it. ‘nipples,’ you finish for her, a grin on your face.
‘never mind,’ mary says, walking over to lilith with two cups of coffee. ‘i can’t listen to this. beatrice, text me,’ and then they’re gone.
‘did they just abscond with our mugs?’
beatrice sighs and pinches the bridge of her nose. ‘what’s this really about?’
‘uh, it would be hot, i think. obviously.’ you roll your eyes. ‘and, like, everyone normal can do all kinds of impulsive shit that i can’t. what if i just really wanted to, like, skydive? or get a face tattoo?’
‘ava,’ she says, undeterred and a little weary. ‘what’s wrong?’
you swallow, the question hitting you square in the chest in a way you didn’t expect. it’s something, to be so seen and understood by someone. ‘nothing is wrong, really, i guess. i don’t know.’
she reaches for your hand and you sit next to her, lace your fingers together.
‘i just — with everything going on with my back, i guess i just feel, like…’
‘a loss of control?’ she asks, patiently after you’d been quiet for a while.
you feel yourself let out an honest-to-god whine before you can stop it.
she smiles, a little sad and a little determined — she’s been waiting for this, you’re pretty sure, which is equal parts sweet and annoying. ‘i have an idea that i think might work better than nipple piercings to help you feel better. we can leave tonight even, if you want.’
you perk up and her smile blooms even further. ‘while i do definitely want to hear your idea of impulsivity, i just also need you to know that nipple piercings would be hot.’
she really does consider it. ‘perhaps,’ she offers.
‘i’ll take that as a yes,’ you say. ‘tell me about your idea.’
she sits up a little straighter and explains, hesitant enough at first to gauge your reaction, that she’s been researching adaptive ski and snowboarding programs.
‘the alps?’ you ask, immediately a little teary.
‘if you’d like.’ she picks at her nail for a moment. ‘i’ve found ones closer to here as well, so wherever you’d like to go, we can go. just say the word.’
‘you really mean that?’
‘of course i do,’ she says, so sure, so steadfast. ‘and, plus, you know i’ll enjoy myself too.’
‘ah, yes, with your double black diamonds. insane.’
‘well, and the aprés ski with you.’
you grin and kiss her cheek. ‘as long as you promise to dance with me.’
‘i’ll do anything you want to make you happy, ava,’ she says, and it hits you in the chest that she means it. she means it, even though you’re mostly full of nonsense half the time, and you like to play pranks on her, and sometimes you get stoned and pester her to watch grace and frankie with you even though she’d been trying to read. she loves you through it all, the worst days, and you love her the same: when her hands shake; when she’s frustrated; when she worries so much about decisions she’s immobilized; when she’s too strict, even now. partnership, you’ve realized, is a practice.
‘switzerland, then?’
she smiles and kisses you. ‘i’ll book everything now.’
‘you have a spreadsheet, don’t you?’
‘of course,’ she says, as if there couldn’t be any other option. you laugh and she pulls it up on her laptop — there really are tabs on the sheet for at least six different programs that vary geographically and by difficulty level, and she’s also mapped out places to stay and restaurants you might enjoy, as well as other local attractions.
‘this is so extra,’ you tell her, your voice a little shaky and the glance out the side of her eyes telling you, without words, she’s onto you. but it doesn’t matter: she gets everything all set up for tomorrow morning, and it’s there: love greater than this world, laid out in confirmation emails and conditionally formatted columns. ‘maybe we can visit jillian after,’ you say, the alternative being bursting into tears.
beatrice hums, never opposed to the idea of a trip to spain.
‘she could figure out how to pierce my nipples,’ you say, and beatrice groans. it’s the little victories.

Is It Really That Bad?
Tumblr media
I don’t think I’ve ever felt like the universe actively conspired against something until I witnessed the production of The Flash.
Since 1991 there have been quite a few proposals for Flash movies, but they never really got off the ground for whatever reason. Following Barry’s debut in Justice League, a movie finally was announced before multiple delays due to rewrites, in particular to cut Ray Fisher’s Cyborg from the story after he went public about the awful shit he had to deal with under Joss Whedon. Things seemed hopeless until It director Andy Muschietti came onboard, at which point production on the film finally started to go smoothly. Sure, there were rumblings about Ezra Miller having episodes on set, but that’s just typical actor nonsense, right? Surely it couldn’t get any worse!
Tumblr media
Look, I’m here to review a movie so I’ll keep this brief: Miller committed crimes. Lots of crimes. So many, in fact, you’d think they were method acting for the role of Reverse-Flash. The thing is, despite all of this, Miller was basically given a slap on the wrist by the studio, being forbidden from doing promos and press tours (oh no! The horror!). And as if the situation wasn’t already a fucking mess, while Miller’s crime spree was ongoing WB canned the nearly-complete Batgirl movie that featured Michael Keaton and Academy Award-winning actor Brendan Fraser while simultaneously inflating The Flash’s budget to nearly $300 million with reshoots. It seems baffling to cancel a movie that was nearly done and that people were marginally interested in for the sake of a movie that people were losing interest in quickly due to its star’s erratic behavior, but remember: Leslie Grace isn’t white, while Ezra Miller is. WB is never beating those racism allegations at this rate.
With a normal movie, this is where the nonsense ends. BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE!
Tumblr media
This film was meant to smooth out the clusterfuck continuity of the “Snyderverse” with a soft reboot, with Henry Cavill filming a end-of-movie cameo alongside Miller, Gal Gadot, Keaton, and Supergirl’s actress Sasha Calle to establish the new direction of DC going forward. Unfortunately, the hierarchy of power at DC changed, and Gunn shot that down. While this meant the ending would probably not get people confused with regards to upcoming projects, it also meant the movie wasn’t going to really have any closure for the old universe. Affleck, Cavill, and who knows who else are just gone, and the future is just a big old question mark. At least Aquaman is safe, maybe?
Literally none of this news was very reassuring to fans. Nothing above is any good for a film’s perception to audiences under normal circumstances, but here we have all this news coming to a fanbase that genuinely did not want this fucking movie. The DCEU was already divisive when the film was announced, and Miller’s portrayal of Barry doubly so; the fact it was adapting Flashpoint was seen as lazy and uninspired, not to mention its not really a story that lets Flash stand on his own merits, making it seem more like this movie was just an excuse to reboot; it was a multiverse story in a day and age with an abundance of such stories, and it was releasing around the same time as Across the Spider-Verse to boot; and Gunn’s reboot plans meant this story was likely a narrative dead end. This movie had an uphill battle the likes of which haven’t been seen since Sisyphus.
But much like that mythological figure, the boulder came crashing right back down when the numbers came in. The movie would likely need to gross $500 million at minimum to break even after factoring in the reshoots and advertising, and it only managed half of that with a pitiful opening weekend followed by a massive 73% drop. It now sits alongside films like The Lone Ranger and Mortal Engines as one of the most expensive bombs in history, to the point where WB would have saved more money by cancelling it like they did with Batgirl. And despite glowing praise from the likes of Tom Cruise and Stephen King, it received middling reviews from mainstream critics.
Audiences haven’t been any less mixed, but considering most people weren’t particularly excited or invested in this film’s existence this is basically a miracle. Sure, there’s plenty of people out there saying this is the “worst comic book movie ever” like they do every time a new superhero movie drops, but even more people are saying they enjoyed the film… although even they tend to have some severe criticisms.
Even though I knew most of what was going to happen in the movie going in, I wasn’t really sure what to expect given everything surrounding the movie. But you know me, I’m willing to give almost any movie a chance, and bombs this big don’t happen every day, so even before it was voted on I was trying to make time to check it out. So sit down, microwave yourself a snack—
Tumblr media
—and watch as I try and determine if The Flash is really that bad.
THE GOOD
The biggest shock of this film is that Ezra Miller is actually really good here.
Tumblr media
Their Barry is still a bit of a goofball, but he’s clearly matured as a character since his precious appearances. They managed to make him much more charming and likable than he ever was, and this gets compounded when he interacts with the younger Barry and gets confronted with how annoying he was before. I think young Barry could have come off as really insufferable, but the fact he annoys everyone around him and also ends up maturing makes him a lot more endearing.
Miller really kills it with the emotional moments, particularly the ending encounter with Barry’s mom and the scene where old Barry snaps at young Barry. The film is really carried by the dramatic, emotional moments far more than any of the superheroics, and Miller manages to sell a lot of it very well. It was to the point where I started thinking, “I really wouldn’t mind if they stick around.” Then a scene where Barry says the Justice League has no real psychiatric help or where his younger self ends up repeatedly exposing himself in public by accident happens, and then I remembered, “Oh yeah, aren’t they a mentally unwell criminal?”
Unsurprisingly, Michael Keaton absolutely kills it in his role as Batman, but much more shockingly is that Ben Affleck's brief return as Bruce is pretty great as well. I always thought Affleck, much like Henry Cavill, was desperately trying to give a great performance while weighed down by bad writing; here, he gets an actual poignant scene where he talks to Barry about how dwelling on tragedies isn't the way to do things, and you should try and move forward instead. It shows he really could have been great if given better material to work with.
Tumblr media
Okay, enough being nice to Affleck, I wanna talk about Keaton again. As much as the marketing hyped him up and as much as he is obviously the most blatant fanservice possible, it's still so cool to see him in the suit again. I am not immune to nostalgia pandering, and as corny as it could have been from anyone else, the zoom into his face when he says The Line really is a highlight of the movie. Keaton has a great deal of charisma, and while there are issues with Batman they aren't his fault at all. Most impressively, he doesn't steal the show away from Miller like I thought he would; he enhances the scenes he's in without stealing the spotlight completely from their performance. I feel like this is a problem in a lot of movies like this, where the lead gets overshadowed by a hyped up character, but somehow The Flash of all things managed to avoid this.
Tumblr media
And as bad as the cameos could get, this movie gave two of the greatest cameos ever put to film with the return of the GOAT George Clooney Batman and, best of all, Nicolas Cage Superman from the unmade Superman Lives, fighting a giant spider to the death just as God intended. I am not immune to the charms of Nicolas Cage.
Tumblr media
Overall, this movie presents us with a solid story, plenty of fun moments, great character dynamics, and more... for the first two acts, anyway.
THE BAD
Once this movie hits the third act, it basically just loses any and all focus and becomes a big dumb video game-esque battle against Zod and his forces in a bland desert landscape. While both Barrys admittedly get some pretty cool moments sprinkled in and Keaton’s Batman’s second death is actually a well done emotional moment, Supergirl ends up being completely wasted, with her sole role being to angrily scream and then die repeatedly.
Tumblr media
This actually highlights the problem with Kara in this movie: She’s basically nothing but a plot device and has zero personality, and a good 80% of her dialogue is just angry screaming. As hot as Sasha Calle is and how much she obviously wants to make Kara compelling, she is given so little to work with that her efforts end up being fruitless. She does nothing of consequence after helping Barry get his powers back, and could be replaced or written out of the story and it would still make perfect sense.
Zod’s inclusion is pretty baffling as well, especially since they chose to water down one of the only good things from Man of Steel into a boring, generic doomsday villain. You can really feel that poor Michael Shannon would rather be doing anything else, and his bored performance just highlights how poorly implemented Zod is in the plot. Like, the Fladh has some of the best and most colorful DC villains in his rogues gallery, one’s that are often overlooked because Batman’s villains sell more toys. Why not highlight some of them instead of taking a Superman villain and stripping him of all personality to the point the actor clearly has no passion for the role? Cutting Zod would make cutting Supergirl even easier, and then two of the biggest problems with the movie are gone!
Tumblr media
The third act does manage to mostly rerail itself once it goes back to Barry trying to unfuck the timeline, with only a disgustingly egregious bit of fanservice that I’ll discuss in the next section hampering it. But at the end, despite the incredibly based George Clooney cameo, there’s just so many unresolved and unanswered questions, with the biggest one being who killed Barry’s mom? Considering her death is what kickstarted the whole plot, you’d think this might come up, but it never does. A lot of other things come up and get dropped too, like whatever was going on with Batman in the opening, but maybe I’m just crazy for wanting elements introduced in a plot to have significance beyond just being there to be cool.
Even beyond that, there’s the fact that Supergirl and Keaton!Batman’s final fates are never really resolved, something that apparently wasn’t a problem in early versions of the film since they showed up alive in the final scene. As much as I loved seeing Clooney, I think trading him for getting some closure for Keaton and Calle would have been more satisfying.
Everyone harps on how bad the CGI is—and it absolutely is, don’t get me wrong—but for the most part I found it endearingly bad. Like the opening with the CGI babies? That’s too goofy for me to hate. But once the movie revolves into bland grey and black CGI bad guys and creepy deepfake celebrity cameos, I stop being quite so forgiving.
Oh, and on the subject of cameos, I’m not sure I’ve ever seen one as pointless and unfunny as Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman showing up out of nowhere (complete with theme music) to make Bruce and Barry look like dumb assholes. Imagine thinking this was a good idea.
Tumblr media
THE UGLY
Tumblr media
The biggest point of contention surrounding this movie is the CGI necromancy used in the aforementioned cameo clusterfuck from the climax, which gives us George Reeve, Christopher Reeves, and Adam West posthumously reprising their DC roles in non-speaking appearances (there’s archived audio from West, but his cameo isn't really focused on to the point you can barely tell it's him) where they just stand there before the camera swoops around like in that Saul Goodman gif.
Tumblr media
I think this is one of the very few times where I actually think the outrage is mostly justified. To be clear, I’m not getting mad on behalf of dead celebrities I never knew, and as long as the filmmakers went through the proper channels and the estates of these stars were properly compensated, I don’t have any legal objections. All of my distaste is coming from a subjective, moral standpoint.
I have never liked this CGI necromancy ever since Rogue One popularized it. I find it really gross and distasteful, and in most cases I think finding a lookalike actor would be preferable than playing Weekend at Bernie’s with a computer generated facsimile of a dead person. In The Flash, I understand having lookalikes would diminish the wow factor of the crossover, but there was an extremely easy workaround to this: Have cameos from all the living DC stars.
Was Brandon Routh not available to put on the Superman tights? Would it have been so bad to let Grant Gustin pop in for a cameo? They acknowledge Helen Slater, so why not Melissa Benoist? Hell, if you want to reference bad, campy movies, have Shaq show up as Steel or Josh Brolin pop in as Jonah Hex! Or even Ryan Reynolds, I’d bet he’d be down to return if you gave him a real suit this time!
Tumblr media
Like there’s just no excuse for ghoulishly parading around dead guys when there’s so many alive guys you could use instead. People can complain all they want about the fanservice and cameos in the past few Spider-Man films, but at least they only had returning characters played by living actors. And when this movie already has the niche, out-there Nic Cage Superman cameo, proving they were down to do things as out there and inoffensively creative as reference unmade movies, it’s really just inexcusable. It doesn’t ruin the movie for me, but it makes me lose a bit of respect for the people who okayed this over less offensive cameo ideas.
IS IT REALLY THAT BAD?
To my surprise, this film actually turned out to be pretty good. Not “great,” not “the best superhero movie ever,” but genuinely mostly good and enjoyable.
My opinion is that the movie is good in spite of itself. The third act is truly a hot mess, the stupid desert battle against Zod is awful and boring, Supergirl is depressingly pointless, so many plot points are just dropped or otherwise forgotten, and the CGI necromancy is nothing short of ghoulish. But the rest of the movie is truly a lot of fun. Barry and his younger self have a fun dynamic, Keaton really manages to take what little he’s given and show that he’s still got it as Batman, the Clooney and Cage cameos were delightful, and most importantly the emotional moments are actually effective.
I think with a bit more polish this film could have actually lived up to the hype around it. There is a great movie in here being suffocated by fanservice and CGI but still managing to get a few gasps of air regardless. I think if they’d kept the conflict more grounded or made Reverse-Flash the primary antagonist, things might have turned out better.
I think its score is pretty fair. My friend @huyh172 described this as “the worst good DC movie,” and it’s an assessment I fully agree with. It’s not as good as Aquaman, Wonder Woman, The Suicide Squad, the Snyder Cut, or Shazam!, and it’s definitely not as bad as stuff like Wonder Woman 1984 or Josstice League. It’s also a bit too enjoyable to be mid. It’s just a really solid movie held back from true greatness by some damning flaws… and really, that makes it the perfect capstone to the "Snyderverse," a cinematic universe that had some solid movies but was held back from greatness by incredibly bad ones.

When they said this would be the biggest Sonic story in StC so far, they weren’t lying. This is part four and I can spoil that it ends on a cliffhanger, so we’re potentially looking at a five part epic, if not more. And honestly, that’s exactly what the Sonic CD adaptation and Captain Plunder’s introduction deserve
The rest of the gang might’ve been left behind last issue, but they’ve hurried out to follow Sonic to the Never Lake this time
Tumblr media
Except they’ll still be waiting a while, because the Little Planet disappears, not to be seen again for another month! I love that whole concept, but I don’t think I’ve seen it used much outside of here, so I’m glad StC is using it to its full potential to increase the sense of danger - Amy has been kidnapped by Metal Sonic and now, even if Sonic rescues her, it’ll be a month before they can get safely back home
Tumblr media
Huh, looks like Amy managed to get away from Metal Sonic on her own? Good for her. Both of them are confused about how Robotnik managed to turn this green planet into a metal wasteland, however
Tumblr media
Ah, never mind. Looks like Metallix dropped Amy to lure Sonic into a false sense of security to attack them both
Tumblr media
They don’t call it the Little Planet for nothing. Sonic races around the entire thing to get the drop on Metallix, who’s decided that Amy’s outlived her usefulness as bait
Tumblr media
Look at how cool this panel is! It’s so hard not to just stop at every moment and point out how awesome Elson makes these scenes look
Tumblr media
No, StC isn’t predicting Sonic (x Shadow) Generations way back in the classic era. Instead, it’s introducing us to two of the mechanics from Sonic CD - the time travelling and the shrinking. My confession is that even though I played Sonic CD on the PC as a kid, I only actually managed to complete it last year, so I didn’t even see the shrinking mechanic in action until almost 20 years after this comic was showing it off
Tumblr media
Having shrunk the present day Sonic down to the same size as him, past!Sonic explains that he needs to go back in time to stop this from ever happening. But it looks like this time loop might be for nothing, as Sonic wasn’t fast enough to get here before Metallix powered up I guess we’ll see what happens next time! As usual, I don’t know, since the one spoiler I thought I saw for this story involved Porker, who’s been left behind on Mobius. Meaning that I’m also left anticipating what’ll come next

Spring Awakening Fandom Tag
(By @winter-asleepening, tagged (kinda) by @feelssogoodinmyarms )
sorry for this being long and for jumping in on this out of nowhere, i got excited and i missed talking about this show now that i’m once again in my yearly spring awakening phase thanks to seeing a local production yesterday :)
1. How were you introduced to the show?
i was an emo kid trying to find musicals i liked bc i started doing theater in high school, i saw american idiot was made into a musical, and followed the john gallagher jr rabbit hole to a b00tl3g of obc spring awakening. this happened to be in 2014 and when i heard about dwsa on broadway i conned my mom into taking me to nyc to see it (i didnt tell her how sexual it was i just said “it’s about teens coming of age in germany set to rock music” and she had Words for me during that intermission lol)
2. Seen a production live?
yes, four: dwsa, a local college production, and two productions at local theater companies in the areas i’ve lived
3. Dream role/character you relate to most
y’all already know it’s moritz…. i imprinted on him when i was 14 and have never stopped being obsessed with him as a character. but i think it’s more likely i’d get the chance to play ilse before moritz and i would love to play ilse as well
4. Favorite male character
mort steeple :) i have never gotten enough of this dude, ever
5. Favorite female character
wendla <3 she’s such a good character when she’s played with the right amount of joy, stubbornness, and curiosity
6. Deaf West Revival or Original Broadway Cast?
dwsa all the way. i appreciate obc for what it is but dwsa is my definitive best revival/adaptation ever ever ever
7. Favorite song
comet on its way :) christ such a whole, like, deal 🙄😏
but if you force me to pick “a real song” that “is actually in the show” then… i think a production that has a really good “and then there were none” is killer bc it means 1. they’re focusing on my favorite boy moritz and 2. they have an adult woman who plays fanny gabor compassionately but flawed in a way that underscores the show’s themes around adults not trusting kids with their own minds and bodies. which i greatly enjoy
8. Least favorite song
this is unfair of me bc it never fails to make me cry and it has one of my favorite lyrics ever in it (window by window you try and look into this brave new you that you are) but it’s “the guilty ones” bc i think “there once was a pirate” is better. my hot take is that dwsa is only version of spring awakening i’ve ever seen where i actually prefer their use of guilty ones instead of pirate
9. Favorite quote/line
musical: so maybe i should be some kind of laundry line / hang their things on me / and i will swing ‘em dry / you just wave in the sun through the afternoon / and then see / they come to set you free / beneath the rising moon - don’t do sadness it’s just such an evocative description of feeling hopeless against all the pressures of life and perfectly encapsulates being 15 and desperate and just wanting a little bit of relief. plus the way daniel durant and alex boniello performed this is so killer. moritz stiefel i love you
play: “don’t let’s be sad […] if we recall this in thirty years, perhaps we shall make fun of it.——and yet everything is so beautiful. the mountains glow; the grapes hang before our mouths and the evening breeze caresses the rocks like a playful flatterer.” from hans in the vineyard scene. augh it’s just so tender and lovely in a way that the musical doesn’t have the time/ability to address, with the acknowledgement that yes this moment is temporary and who knows if ernst and hanschen will “make it”. and yet. everything is so beautiful. also PROOF THAT HANSCHEN ISNT A CREEP OR MANIPULATIVE HE IS ALSO A TEEN BOY IN LOVE FUCK YOU STEVEN SATER
10. Favorite TV performance
always and forever dwsa touch me on seth meyer i have seen it at least two hundred times and i’m not exaggerating
11. Favorite cast member(s)
daniel durant always always always. he is such a talent i’m so glad his career seems to be taking off, he’s genuinely one of the best actors i’ve ever seen in my whole life.
12. Favorite cast member moment
can i say 1st national tour cabaret where the boys performed comet on its way in order to bring up comet on its way again. if not it’s when i gave daniel durant a painting of him as moritz at stage door and i was a shy anxious teen who learned just enough asl to say “hi” and “thank you” and “will you sign my playbill please” and he was SO sweet to me and lovely and he hugged me and i know actors do that kind of shit all the time and i’m sure he doesn’t remember it but it really made my whole life when it happened :’)
13. Do you write fan fiction?
not outside of personal catharsis pieces that have never seen the light of day. i made an aloto/vineyard scene web weaving post though that i do think goes hard
14. Do you make fan art?
i still love the moritz and then there were none piece i did a few years ago but i haven’t done a whole lot past that… that may change though i want to get back into drawing
15. Do you cosplay?
no, but spring awakening costumes have 10000% influenced my real life fashion and hair decisions. lol
16. Don’t do Sadness or Blue Wind?
i just saw this GORGEOUS performance of dds/bw where ilse sobbed through her verse of blue wind and the rest of the cast like gathered around her and slowly peeled away to represent her memory/longing for real connection and the reality of her never really having that at all, and really underscoring that her spoken lines about her new life in the artist’s colony and wanting to take moritz home are just posturing to hide how lonely she is… so right now i think blue wind
17. Word of Your Body or the Reprise?
reprise when it’s done earnestly, but i do really love the lyrics in woyb
18. Touch Me or My Junk?
my junk! i love seeing the different ways it’s staged between georg and hanschen and the girls, plus it’s the only time the girls get to be horny
19. Explain the Song of Purple Summer
it’s a metatextual message from the story of spring awakening to the audience that underscores the themes of open and honest communication being the key to healthy people and relationships, it’s asking the adults in the audience to believe children (when they say they’re gay, when they ask for information and want to be given all of it, when they ask for help and say they want to die), it’s a message of hope to the kids in the seats who relate too much to the kids on stage, telling us that it will get better
20. Explain the Song of Purple Summer (wrong answers only)
horses fuck and have foal babies idk <3
that was very fun thank you for indulging me. if any of mine olde spring awakening/dwsa mutuals are still around please consider this me tagging you <3

Let’s Talk About Fairy Tail!
Before you start reading this just know that this does contain spoilers up to the end of the show. Also. YES. I will go on for hours about this show if you let me.
Recently I finished my third? fourth? rewatch of the Fairy Tail anime and was once again reminded how much I love it. Now I’m not one who likes to rank my favorite shows or have “Top 5’s” and the like, but Fairy Tail would definitely be at the top of mine if I did. It has definitely become one of my top comfort shows.
I started watching anime sometime around 2018, so I haven’t been in the anime community for long, nor was I around when Fairy Tail started and when all of the opinions on the series were being voiced. Not long after I got into Fairy Tail, I learned that there was a lot of hate around it that I never really understood. Is it perfect? No, it definitely has its flaws. But many fan favorites aren’t.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think what most people don’t understand, and need to, is that everybody consumes different media for different reasons. What I might be looking for in a show is not the same as what you are looking for in a show. One of the biggest tropes that Fairy Tail has and plays into is “found family”. This is the main reason that I keep coming back to watch this series. For individuals like me, who have always struggled to fit in and connect with their family, this is huge! This series makes you feel like a part of the guild, and like you are part of their created family. The guild accepts and embraces all of the differences and personalities of its members, something that people like me wished our families could do. They will do whatever they can to help each other. It is mentioned all the time how the guild is like a family, with Makarov always referring to its members as his “children”. I have never wished to crawl into my screen and be part of a fictional world more than this one.
Fairy Tail is a series that is bright, colorful, and full of hope and joy. It also is full of action and adventure. I’ve seen the argument that one of its problems is that nobody ever dies and there is too much “power of friendship”, but is that really such a bad thing? Sometimes we need the lightheartedness and comfort knowing that our favorite characters are going to be ok, and make it out alive. To put it into fanfic terms: sometimes we need a little more fluff, and less angst. There are plenty of other series that specialize in tackling more serious topics and dramatics. If I wanted to watch a bunch of people get killed, I’d go watch Attack on Titan. I’m certainly not watching that for its wholesome vibes. Reality already has so much intensity and drama. If I’m trying to escape from it for a bit, am I really escaping if the media I’m consuming is also full of it?
When it comes to pulling at your heartstrings, Fairy Tail actually does a pretty good job at that without anybody dying. For starters, the Tartaros arc as a whole is emotional. Between fanfics and edits that I had seen prior, I was aware of Aquarius’s key getting broken and her leaving before I even watched that episode. However when I did watch it, even knowing it was going to happen, it tore me up. I cried so hard. Don’t even get me started on the dragons at the end of the arc. Another emotional moment for me was during the Tenrou arc when Cana told Gildarts that she was his daughter. That moment made me tear up, but with happy tears. It’s especially endearing to see how they changed and adapted to that new relationship over the course of the rest of the series, especially Gildarts.
Tumblr media
Speaking of character development, Fairy Tail actually does this well for some of the characters. Let’s start with Lucy. Yes. Lucy Heartfilia (I will not tolerate any Lucy hate)  has some great development. At the start of the series, she is shown to be scared and hesitant during missions and fights, and relying on the others to take care of business. Gradually she becomes stronger, both with her magic and mentality. Her growth feels like a natural and realistic progression. Come the end of the series Lucy has unlocked new and powerful sides to her magic, and fights alongside the others. Honestly, considering her background as a socialite, her development is even more impressive. I could write a whole ass essay about her character if I’m honest. It’s tempting.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ok. Here’s my hot take: I don’t think that the fanservice in Fairy Tail is as bad as people make it out to be. Yes it is there, I'm not trying to say that it isn't, but for me, I don’t think it ever really took away from the story. Off the top of my head, there is mainly one instance that sticks out to me where I felt that it was excessive and unnecessary, and that was during the Grand Magic Games arc during Mirajane and Jenny’s battle. I also want to point out that it is the same characters who have the most fanservice that are deemed the strongest, while being simultaneously feared and looked up to for that strength. The fanservice is not their only character defining trait. I think if it were, then it would be a problem.
Tumblr media
Some time after I started writing this (which I have been doing on and off for awhile now) I came across this video on TikTok that talked about one of Fairy Tail’s best factors is its enjoyability, and I loved that simplistic explanation of the series.
I have so many more thoughts about this series, but I’ll stop here. My other thoughts might eventually get their own posts. Especially if I feel like spending time focusing on specific characters or moments (that Lucy character analysis is itching for me to write it). On that note, I am always down to scream about Fairy Tail if you are!

Yuukoku no Moriarty and Cross-cultural Interrogation
I’ve touched on this before, but something I find most fascinating about Yuukoku no Moriarty is the way it adapts such incredibly well-known works from a perspective so very foreign to the original media’s culture of origin.
Honestly, part of the reason I’ve always like anime and manga is because they aren’t stories that could be created in the anglosphere. They come from a completely different cultural understanding of not only how media works, not only one with different classics and literary inspiration to draw from, different tropes and literary devices, but just completely different values. Their stories spring from a different understanding of humanity and narrative, and it’s one of the most popular (and most accessible to a baby monolingual American) ways to get that kind of exposure to Something Else. I loved books from Ireland and Australia in a similar (but generally less intense) way.
Yuukoku no Moriarty is a very Japanese series targeted to a Japanese audience, but it’s also an adaptation of two very famous pieces of British literature. Two of the most famous and most commonly-adapted pieces of British literature. They’re so well-known that they have oozed into Western media to its core at this point, and you don’t even have to have been exposed to them to know of them, to know names, characters, and tropes that they inspired. Three pieces, if you include Shakespeare and William’s obsession with it and repeated references.
And on top of that, a significant chunk of the material is also sourced from Christianity and references to that, which is…
Well, have you seen the way anime usually does Christianity? It’s always very. Uh. Interesting. Japan is not a Christian culture and never has been; Christianity stands at less of the population and it’s never been so entrenched in it that an…accurate understanding ever took root. A lot of Americans and Europeans see Christian values and rituals as so common and matter-of-course that they think they’re secular or universal. But they are a product of a very specific place and culture, and not everyone shares those values.
Takeuchi-sensei and Miyoshi-sensei understand Christianity in a way I think is much more nuanced than most anime and manga and they seem quite familiar with it. It’s really great! But it’s also very apparent that they are…well, very likely not Christians themselves and, even more importantly, not steeped in a Christian cultural environment. And as well-read as the creators of Yuukoku no Moriarty are in these original works, as many obscure references they can fit in, as much of the series is actually literally in English…they don’t have the same values a British Christian does. They use Christianity the same way they use Shakespeare and Conan Doyle and Fleming: it’s a useful literary device with meaning they can leverage, but they’re not beholden to it.
Now, Yuukoku no Moriarty is a deconstruction of a lot of things. A lot of things that…came from the original sources they’re using, but also of other things. The concept of justice and revenge. Of anti-villains and anti-heroes and morality and. Of the roles of heroes. Of detectives and goodness and darkness and shadow. Of adaptations themselves.
And a huge part of these deconstructions is discussing these very British, very Western narratives and values, taking them apart, analyzing them, and then commenting on them in a way only someone who doesn’t see these values as a matter of course can.
I talked about this before when I’ve discussed YuuMori as story of atonement. Sin, guilt, dishonor, and atonement are incredibly cultural, and the way they’re viewed varies wildly from place to place and culture to culture.
William thinks committing sin, committing himself to sin, makes him the devil. And devils need to be exorcised and sent to hell. There is no reforming the devil. There is no atonement for the devil. The devil is a symbol of sin and punishment. He can’t reform himself, because if he did, there would be no punishment for humanity. Christian theology starts to fall apart without Hell and the devil, because a big factor in Jesus being…relevant…is that he emerged from Hell to save people from it.
But even if William is a Christian, his creators are (probably) not. Hell and eternal punishment in flames isn’t William’s path, because while Christians may punish sinners with eternal torment and brutal justice…that’s not the only way to deal with wrongdoings. And…most religions don’t…rely on eternal suffering as a punishment for Being Bad.
(I’m not saying Christians and cultural Christians are the only people who find some kind of virtue or value in suffering, but it’s not actually universal, it’s kind of horrifying if you think about it, and it is very much a hallmark of Christianity)
The series doesn’t even beg you compare William to Christ—it does it for you. Moran says he looks like a man climbing Golgotha. He’s featured with halos of light as he preaches evil. Albert refers to him as a good shepherd who found a lost sheep (Albert being the sheep). He was reborn on Easter in a wreath of unholy fire, out of the Hell that was the Moriarty manor, to save humanity. He’s done the “reborn in a new world” thing twice, once after a long period of time in isolation alone to repent of his sins and be tempted (by Sherly). I could go on and on about this, but I already wrote about it once. I could do it again, but not here.
Quite honestly, the very excessiveness of the symbolism might not work as well in a Western work. The over-the-top nature of the comparison works for an audience who isn’t going to see it everywhere all the time so easily—and it being so over-the-top I think makes it easier to swallow than if it was tempered in a way that couldn’t be poked a little fun at. Once again, this is being treated and respected as something to use as a literary device, not necessarily respected as a Moral Authority.
It does something very similar with Western history. In case you were not already aware, the history in Yuukoku no Moriarty is. Very inaccurate. Very, very inaccurate. I’ve made jokes before about how Yuukoku no Moriarty is historical fiction to make its foreign readers scream, but it’s not actually meant for foreign audiences, and our reactions are really secondary. Japanese culture is probably taught some of it, but not enough to be wincing through the explanations of things—and, much like it does with Christianity, it twists Western history as it wants to suit the story being told. It doesn’t matter if it’s accurate or not, because it services the story this way, and Western history is no more sacred than anything else.
Because if it’s (Christianly) sacred, then it can’t be deconstructed and commented on. And the series wants to do that. It wants to comment on Britian’s history of imperialism and its proxy wars. It wants to comment on America’s freedom vs inequality vs power vs manipulation. It wants to comment on those things, because they aren’t totally foreign to Japan—it has its own history of imperialism and oppression and manipulation and inequality. But approaching it from the outside makes it safer, easier to deal with—and viewing another culture’s flaws and values can allow someone to evaluate their own.
And, from my own perspective as a Westerner, it’s really fascinating to see these things from my own culture treated as malleable and useful story material. To break them down to useful chunks on a thematic level instead of accuracy to really evaluate what’s true in the stories and what matters about the stories. To see the same tropes I’m so familiar with, the same stories I’m so familiar with just because I Live As A Westerner, being wildly reinterpreted as something else. To see what else they could be and what other shapes they could take.
We see quintessential British superspies being reinterpreted as the way Japanese sees superspies. We see The quintessential Great Detective reinterpreted in the way that Japan loves to focus on the human, emotional elements of men instead of the cold logic Holmes is often subjected to in the West because of where we place our values on men. We see the Shakspearian theatrical tradition mixed with traditional Japanese theatre like Noh of Kabuki where performers are expected to wear masks and overact as a matter of course. And it mixes Christian religious imagery and references with a story that does not at all share the same philosophy because Japan is rooted primarily in Shinto and Buddhism.
Yuukoku no Moriarty a great opportunity to see cross-cultural interrogation at work. It’s just. Fascinating to see how it works. And maybe sometimes it doesn’t work. Maybe sometimes the choices are a little strange. But the very existence of the choices is just such a wonderful thing to see and really dig into. But Yuukoku no Moriarty is commenting on Britain and white, Western culture from an outside perspective, and that’s always interesting.

Thai BL Favorites List Tag Game
thank youuu mel @justafriend-ql for tagging me!!! And to @thatgirl4815 for creating it!
I’m so bad at picking favorites so please excuse the fact that I have like two answers per question.. since this is a Thai bl list I’m not listing gls or non Thai series or else I’d probably list like 3+ per question fnskfjfj
Favorite bl: bad buddy or not me (PLEASE DONT MAKE ME CHOOSE). They’re both very different but very important in their own ways. The bad buddy experience is incomparable and the beauty of not me and its basis in reality is historical
Favorite pairing: following suit, patpran & seanwhite. Both series weren’t just plot driven, they were character driven as well (possibly more so). Each are fantastic, though wildly different, romances.
Most underrated actor: my boy chimon! I think generally people know he can act but I wouldn’t be surprised if he gained more recognition after dangerous romance aired. (Also bonus, stealing Mel’s answer cuz sing always needs more attention he can do any and everything!! I’ll eat up any role he plays. I always do)
Favorite character: really hard to choose. maybe Sean (from not me again). I’m ngl I blocked someone once bc they talked a bit of shit abt him. He’s never done anything wrong in his life <3
Favorite side character: yok from not me. I’m gonna keep putting not me here srry but NO ONE will ever be as slutty as yok was. Not even First in only friends. He encapsulated Slut energy in such an immaculate way. (OR heartliming. They stole the show in moonlight chicken for me!)
Favorite scene: the pride flag scene from not me. It’s one of the most impactful scenes I’ve seen in any ql and I love the reason why it exists in the first place!
Favorite line: the build up to patpran’s rooftop kiss. Got me holding my breath screaming crying heart racing you know it. We’ve all been through it. I have it copied into my notes in case I ever need it (or just to. Cry idk)
Most anticipated bl and why: hmmm probably cooking crush literally just cuz of offgun in a romcom bl lmao I luv them. The pics they’ve uploaded lately have had a different vibe from the mock trailer and I’m liking it! Maybe cherry magic too as I’m curious to see how it’ll be adapted to Thailand as a remake
Healthiest relationship in a bl: patpran. Do I even need to say more? They might’ve had a little drama before they got together but you HAVE to have a healthy mf relationship to maintain it while “lying” saying you’ve broken up to your parents & some of ur friends
Most toxic relationship in a bl: vegaspete. See they’re lowkey more toxic in my head than they are on screen. Like yes vegas electrocuted Pete’s balls but he could’ve done worse and I think he should’ve! The toxic aspect was what made it fun (also who would I be if they didn’t make it on a fav Thai bl list at least Once)
Guilty pleasure series: idk what I’d consider a guilty pleasure BUT I thought the first episode of tharntype (which I actually only watched recently lmao) was kinda camp. Like it literally OPENS with Type saying he loves college except for one problem… GAY PEOPLE EXIST 😡🤬 that’s comedy. I burst out laughing. Can’t say I love the show as a whole tho
Most underrated series (mel I love that u added this bc I kno exactly what to say): SECRET CRUSH ON YOU. I NEED TO PROMOTE IT. I think people who dropped it did so bc it was so over the top but that’s exactly why you should keep going??? It’s SO saturated and the emotions are ALWAYS at 100 it’s hilarious but in the moments it gets emotional (episode 13…) it GOES ALL IN!!! The constant secondhand embarrassment made me literally start sweating but in a good way?? Ppl who reduce it to just cringe have missed all the beauty it offers. I regret not watching it live and I feel like I don’t see enough people talking about it… also I am literally toh <3
Surprisingly some of my beloved Thai bls didn’t make it onto this list but it seems that’s cuz I still have bad buddy/not me brain worms forever 🙃 I stand by what I said either way hehe
I’ll tag @joyladagang @loserlesbianongsa @jyuubin @petrichoraline @iliketodecompose <33333

I saw Avatar: TWOW this past wednesday, and these are my spoiler-y thoughts.
I went to see the original Avatar twice when it first came. Once in regular theaters, knowing absolutely nothing about it except “blue aliens on a forest planet”. Then the next time on New Year’s Eve, when we drove 100 km to a different city to see it in 3D, and needless to say, I was absolutely floored by the world and its beauty.
I was just starting worldbuilding in late 2009, and Avatar gave me the biggest inspiration kick I’ve ever had, that lasted for many years.
The story and characters were never the greatest however, and couldn’t really be due to the story the film wanted to tell. It’s fine. (I have to say Grace is my favorite female character ever, but that’s not saying a lot because I haven’t seen many interesting female characters. I just love her attitude, her love for Pandoran nature and her character development.)
So, when is the sequel coming? Waiting. And waiting and waiting and waiting. After the third or fourth delay (I don’t even know), I decided to just give it up and “It comes when it comes”. When the final release date was set, I joked online “Avatar 2 is coming in 2022? I’m so happy it’s finally coming in 2023! It will be 15 years since the first one! I can’t wait to see Avatar 2 in 2025!”, making a joke on the constant delays...
While recent big franchise sequels and reboots have been disappointments and I haven’t been to cinemas since 2018, this was the first time since 2015 I felt this excited to see a film. I actually trust Cameron to stay true to his vision and not sell out to make some cheap crap.
I also trust him not to put spoilers in the trailers, so while I’ve watched trailers like holding a piece of hot coal since HTTYD 2 (still pissy about it nine years later), I gladly watched all the Way of Water trailers, but I really tried to avoid seeing revealing information online (like who all the kids are).
All in all: I don’t think it’s as massive an experience as Avatar 1, but there’s a good reason for that.
The reason being, of course, that Avatar in 2009 was a shock to audiences. We weren’t expecting to be immersed in such a beautiful world, like something seen in a dream (and it actually was, by Cameron, many years ago...). Cue “The Avatar Blues”.
This time however, we knew we were supposed to be blown away by a beautiful alien planet, so the shock couldn’t possibly be as great.
I also can’t agree with the cast’s statements that “the stakes are higher”, I actually think the stakes of Hometree going down (and possibly the Tree of Souls) was a higher one than a man-on-man revenge plot and a family being threatened. It’s a different story and premise, so it is what it is.
This film is really all about family, and I loved that because it’s actually really rare in cinema, and something that’s rare in fiction full stop, is families having more than 1 kid, so I really loved seeing a family with four kids here (no, not counting Spider).
One disappointment is the soundtrack. James Horner’s parts from the first movies were not adapted, they were put in completely as is. Akula chasing Lo’ak? Music from Thanator chasing Jake. Kids riding Ilu for the first time? Music from when Jake rode Ikran for the first time. Tulkun killed? Music from Hometree’s destruction. If you’ve seen the first film many times and perhaps taken a liking to listening to the soundtrack, these stand out like a sore thumb.
And the rest, composed by Simon Franglen, just couldn’t hold a candle to James Horner. There were some good bits, and of course Neytiri’s song added some nice atmosphere and worldbuilding, but unfortunately, not a memorable soundtrack.
There were otherwise only two things that stood out to me, that I didn’t like. While the Omatikaya were not overly inspired by Native Americans or any other human culture, the Metkayina were definitely overly inspired by Maori and other Polynesians. The tattoos, even the brief haka display. It was too obvious. It’s as obvious as if Neytiri’s father would have worn a feather hat, as the chief.
The other thing, was the marine biologist explaining the intelligence of the tulkun. This is an alien planet, and I absolutely love the idea of having sapient species that are not humanoid, or building human-like societies. That said, this film, and its predecessor, definitely wants you to think about Earth all the time. What he says about the tulkun is almost word for word from Blackfish, where animal rights activists lie for 90 minutes straight about killer whales.
In Blackfish, they insinuate on no grounds whatsoever, that killer whales are more intelligent and feel more intense emotions than humans, because of a “part of the brain humans don’t have”. Yes, they do have that... it has to do with echolocation, of course we don’t have that. It has nothing to do with emotion or intelligence. They are extremely intelligent and emotional, but there’s absolutely no reason to think they, or any other whales, have more of it than we have. (For the record, killer whales are so compassionate to other creatures that they will kill a baby humpback or grey whale slowly in front of its mother, only to eat its tongue, a delicacy, and leave its trashed corpse to its mother, who is left hanging in shock.)
Since this was included in the film, and it so obviously wants to make us think of Earth whales, I had to roll my eyes and cringe for a bit.
I’ve seen nitpicking about other things, basically because they failed to understand something about the film.
“Why are they speaking English?” (Jake makes it very clear in an early scene that they are speaking Na’vi, it’s just translated to us. No way most audiences would want to sit through a 3 hour film in an alien language, not to mention how difficult it would be on the actors.)
“Neytiri would NEVER want to kill an INNOCENT person, that’s not her!” on her threatening Spider. What? That was perfectly in line with her character, and her best scene in the film. Her son had just been murdered, and the entire rest of her family was at gunpoint. The film made it very clear Neytiri never liked or trusted Spider. If you can’t understand her actions in that scene, I don’t know what to say. And he’s not a child, it’s not like she threatened a toddler, he’s almost a man.
Towards the end of the film, I was wondering why Neteyam didn’t have more of a story. Lo’ak has a lot going on, Kiri is clearly being set up for something huge, Tuk is just a child still... but Neteyam was just there to be a big brother. “Maybe”, I though, “he’ll have more of a story in the next film”. ...aaaand he was dead 15 minutes later. And I understood, that’s what he as a character existed for. Jake’s family couldn’t get out of this story without a loss, for story-telling purposes, I understand that.
But it also meant it was hard to feel something when Neteyam died. It was more being sad for Jake and Neytiri, than sad because he died.
And it was a really beautiful scene towards the end, when Jake and Neytiri joined with the tree to see him again.
All in all, I would give the film a 9-9.5 out of 10. Same as the original Avatar, which may just have a bit of an edge over this one, but they’re both absolutely great.

TOP 10 TV SHOWS I WATCHED IN 2022
1. PANIC on amazon prime
Tumblr media
i watched ‘panic’ at the very beginning of 2022, and have since rewatched it twice. i’m still surprised how it stuck with me and became one of my favorite shows, because typically i prefer more light-hearted stories.
the idea of teenagers playing this high stakes life-threatening game is so intriguing. the mystery behind who started and runs this tradition adds so much suspense. there’s also the additional layer of poverty and family issues that’s pushing the main character. it’s so interesting to explore the characters’ motivations, their reactions to pressure. it makes for a colorful complex story. and, of course, what sells it is the main romance. the chemistry between the characters is off the charts!! (not me thinking i wouldn’t ship them before seeing the show phaha).
even though ‘panic’ was cancelled after season 1 (which, sadly, is true for most of my favorite tv shows), i believe there’s a satisfying finality to the season that makes it work as a stand alone story.
2. QUEER AS FOLK on peacock
Tumblr media
pure queer joy is what this show is. i’ve only experienced this level of happiness while watching “genera+ion” (which is my favorite show ever). and yes, “queer as folk” is more adult because - duh - it’s about adults, and one teen character. in a lot of ways it’s about forming your community and keeping it safe. it takes on serious issues, the characters are messy and make mistakes, yet it feels so warm and comfortable, like a home.
i’ve never seen the original show so i’m judging this show from a non-reboot perspective (which i’m pretty sure it is anyway, even though you can make parallels between some characters, it’s a new different story).
trigger warning: there’s a mass sh**ting scene in the first episode (it’s not very graphic).
3. HEARTBREAK HIGH on netflix
Tumblr media
the new aussie it show, move over h2o just add water! okay i’m joking, but heartbreak high really took over the world as it should have! it’s a diverse well-written gen z teen drama with amazing fashion.
what you can expect: a lot of dramaaa, secrets & unexpected twists, sex scenes that don’t sexualize teenagers, actual ace representation (i’ve only seen it done this well in “genera+ion”), probably the best autistic representation i’ve ever seen, exploration of some dark themes (assault, police brutality) that are unfortunately a part of reality for a lot of teenagers, beautiful friendships and romantic relationships, teen angst and rebellion.
i fell in love with these characters and their dynamics, i can’t wait for season 2! plus, it turns out there was a lot of australian things i didn’t know about, so it was very cool to see australian culture represented in this fun bright series.
4. REBELDE on netflix
Tumblr media
look at all these pretty faces and tell me you don’t want to know more about them. this show is one hell of a fun ride. it’s like elite mixed with violetta. there’s so much colorful potential in almost (looking at you esteban) all of these characters. they fight, they perform, they’re friends, rivals and lovers, and for the big moments they’re each other’s family. they’re rebelde. i want to steal their wardrobe and be their groupie.
5. WEDNESDAY on netflix
Tumblr media
not suprised this show became such a hit, but i’m glad i watched it when it came out without any preconceived expectations. the style of this show is amazing and it’s an entertaining watch. there can’t be enough praise for jenna ortega’s performance. she’s outstanding in everything she does, and she carried this show.
6. HEARTSTOPPER on netflix
Tumblr media
this is a fluffy warm ball of sunshine. comfort at its finest. i’m so happy this show exists and people talk about it. i just want to give every character a hug. oh, and i want those cute doodles in my life.
7. THE SUMMER I TURNED PRETTY on amazon prime
Tumblr media
such a cute summer show. i think the creators did a great job of adapting the book for the modern young audience. it could’ve easily turned into another kissing booth with a “not like other girls” protagonist. even though you can see the original outline of the characters, they feel more evoled in the show. and that’s what i hope will happen to the story later on as well. i like when adaptations improve on given material and find their own identity.
i did’t really like nor understood the ending so i’m kinda tense about season 2. if it’s gonna turn into a belly x conrad love show, i’m gonna have to head out, and demand a jeremiah spin off (#teamjeremiah).
8. SINGLE DRUNK FEMALE on freeform
Tumblr media
so this is one of the more underrated shows on this list. it’s a dramedy that follows a young woman battling her addiction in a town full of people who are right there to remind her why she drinks. sam makes quite an appealing lead character. she’s messy, she’s selfish, she’s confrontational, but she longs for real meaningful connections, even though she’s afraid of them. there’s a diverse array of characters who go on this journey with her, and i love every single one of them. i think this show has a very good trailer actually, helps get the feel of the show and what it’s about.
9. DOLLFACE on hulu
Tumblr media
such a beautiful entertaining show about female friendship and finding yourself outside of a relationship. the cast is incredible, including kat dennings as the jilted ex, brenda song and shay mitchell as her estranged besties, matthew gray goobler as a love interest, and brianne howey and lilly singh as a nice bonus on the side.
the part that makes this show so unique is the daydream sequences that follow the main character. it shifts the rules of the world, makes it more fantastic and unpredictable. makes me wish i could get on a bus with the cat lady that would take me to my friends.
10. HEATHERS on amazon prime
Tumblr media
no matter how much you like the original movie, THIS heather squad is way more memorable and charismatic. who wouldn’t want to watch an edgy dark comedy about teen phychopaths whose whole identity is “i’m not like the other people, i’m weird, i’m a weirdo”, toxic friendships, murderous romance & tumblr fashion circa 2016? maybe i’m just build different if it’s my jam and not yours.
seriously though, i unapologetically loved it. kinda reminds me of “the scream queens” (which is outstanding) and “insatiable” (which i couldn’t get into).
thanks for giving this a read <3 hopefully i convinced you to watch some of these!

'I’ve been going about my life comfortably believing that Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse would be the best western movie of the decade. And then came Oppenheimer.
After sitting on it for a while, I’m honestly still debating which was the best watch of the year so far, but regardless, managing to be on the same level as a Spider-verse movie (especially with an animation fan like me) is a feat of its own. Going into this movie completely and utterly blind, I absolutely loved it. I genuinely, wholeheartedly believe that it’s cemented itself as one of my favourite movies of all time. I know that’s a big claim, but trust me, Oppenheimer is worth it.
Since its premiere, most of the internet is already aware that Christopher Nolan’s latest film is a (mostly accurate) biographical retelling of the life of J Robert Oppenheimer, “the father of the atomic bomb.” Or, after watching the movie, I suppose American Prometheus is a better title.
At heart, that is how Nolan, adapting from Kai Bird and Martin J Sherwin’s book American Prometheus, portrays Oppenheimer; a man who gave humans the ‘gift’ of destruction and was tortured for eternity because of it. Instead of being chained to a rock and having his liver eaten daily like his greek counterpart, Dr Oppenheimer’s torture is a lot more internal and self-inflicted, if you will. And I imagine a thousand times more painful.
There are numerous themes within the story, as every good movie should have, but its soul is Oppenheimer’s own turmoil after creating the atomic bomb. Portrayed beautifully through Nolan’s writing and directing and acted out incredibly by Cillian Murphy, this was some of the best writing cinema has seen since, well, I would say years, but Spider-verse came out in June.
It was one of the best internal struggles I’ve seen in a long time. Keep in mind that although Oppenheimer’s turmoil mainly all leads back to guilt, it is also layered with the struggle we see between guilt, the damage he’s done by constructing a bomb that could destroy humanity, and the pride he has in serving his country and saving all the lives he did by ending the war early. Although short-lived, the struggle is there and it’s important. Even when barely feeling pride, his guilt increases and sends him down a spiral, trapped in his own mind. And with a mind as great as J Robert Oppenheimer’s, that’s a dangerous place to be.
This internal conflict was portrayed sincerely, authentically and subtly, with nuance and many different sides. Whether seeing him deal with it through denial, self-loathing, regret, desensitisation, morality or by openly disagreeing with the furthering of the arms race (cough Hydrogen Bomb cough) and also struggling with his feelings of pride, it was all done and written beautifully. I cannot say anymore without spoilers, but I’m sure you don’t need evidence; it’s Christopher Nolan, what would you expect?
However, if Oppenheimer’s turmoil was the soul of the story, then the frankly underrated and unmentioned theme of curiosity is the heart. Portraying the construction of the atomic bomb from the perspectives of the scientists that built it was a genius move, one that’s never been done before.
They just wanted to know. Which scientist would pass up the opportunity of doing the impossible? Of proving that they were the ones able to break all previously established rules? For a significant portion of the movie, that’s what the construction of the bomb was viewed with — curiosity, wonder and a challenge. These genius minds were simply and sincerely curious. And curiosity killed the cat. The sudden drop from that whimsy is one of the most effective thematic and tonal portrayals I’ve ever witnessed, both on and off screen.
It is widely known that the atomic bomb testing was successful, so it wouldn’t be a spoiler to mention that during its portrayal on screen, a few guys in the cinema started clapping. Gradually, a large chunk of the audience joined them, caught up in the moment. And, just a few scenes later, that exact thing is picked apart on screen in a tremendously directed and written scene — what exactly are we clapping for? The intentions were good, sure — they were celebrating the achievement of the impossible, in awe just like the scientists were. But it’s still the atomic bomb, the destroyer of worlds. This exact feeling was portrayed by Oppenheimer on screen and the way Nolan masterfully crafted it to fit with the audience and for the audience to relate to him on such a level, even if only for a scene, whether intentional or not, is the work of a master craftsman. To get the audience to feel shame.
Just like Oppenheimer.
Apart from him, the character of his wife, Emily Blunt’s Kitty, is also extremely well done, especially in the latter half of the film. She is the brawn to his brains, the fighter to his martyr, the (surprisingly) sturdy, albeit chaotic, anchor while he’s getting lost in a sea of his turmoil, and, simply, his wife. Yet, despite being a counterpart to ‘his’ everything, she is so distinctly and clearly her own. An incredibly written character, and although I can’t say I was very fond of her in the beginning, by the end of the film I almost had more respect for her than I did for her husband. Now, they sit equally high in my heart, as they do in the movie.
Other acting highlights were Matt Damon’s General Groves, Florence Pugh’s Jean Tatlock and Robert Downey Jr’s Lewis Strauss, as well as Tom Conti’s Einstein — his portrayal was surprisingly endearing. The themes of loyalty and betrayal are also worth mentioning, and how, contrary to the recent American imperialism trend present in most Hollywood movies, it’s actually both portrayed and, in my opinion, mocked. However, the most glaring point we haven’t discussed yet is Nolan’s masterful directing.
As a writer, I’ve discussed his genius enough, but as a director, no analysis or praise would ever be enough, so I won’t even try. Embracing his fragmented storyline techniques once again, the timeline is scattered, creating a wonderful sense of suspense, mystery and that there’s always more to the story. While some scenes are portrayed in a hard, black and white ‘factual’ lens, Oppenheimer’s own extraordinary life being played out in colour was not just symbolic but also helpful in differentiating between the narrative back-and-forth. The unexpected jumps and jolts of stars, space and atoms depending on what Oppenheimer’s mind was crafting or dissecting, added to both the chaotic and calm scenes. Either way, writer or director, Nolan is a true master of storytelling. Composer Ludwig Göransson’s masterful touch added to the scenes just that much more.
In conclusion, and honesty, I prefer to sit on a story for quite a while before grabbing my notebook and picking it apart, but with Oppenheimer, I could neither analyse without spoiling it nor wait to discuss it, so this review is a compromise. My only concern is that I won’t be able to do this gem of a movie justice so please, if you take anything away from this, let it be to watch Oppenheimer yourself. It’s the kind of movie I believe everyone needs to see.'

I Still See You (2018)
Tumblr media
Released in theaters on October 12, 2018, I Still See You came and went without making an impression. With the teenage protagonists in the middle of a post-catastrophe world, you’ll wonder why at first. The Darkest Minds, The 5th Wave and Divergent all fizzled without their stories concluding but some people were clamouring for them. Could this be a YA-novel adaptation so bad it couldn't even find an audience among 13-year-olds?
In 2010, an explosion at Ashburn Laboratories creates a shockwave that kills hundreds. The deceased come back as non-sentient “remnants” (ghosts) who repeat some of their final moments every day. Ten years later, high school student Veronica ‘Ronnie’ Calder (Bella Thorne) is startled by a new (sexy) ghost (played by Thomas Elms) in her bathroom. Impossibly, this remnant writes “Run” in the steamed mirror before vanishing. Her favourite teacher, Mr. Bittner (Dermot Mulroney), doesn’t believe her but quiet loner Kirk Lane (Richard Harmon) does. Together, they follow the remnant's trail and discover it may be trying to attack her from the grave.
What we’ve got here is one of the most convoluted vehicles for a mystery I’ve ever seen. Let's begin with this world. Everyone drives slowly, not knowing if the old lady crossing the street is actually a human being, or the memory of one. Inside Ronnie’s home, there are always three chairs at the dinner table so her deceased father can appear unimpeded in the morning. I’m certain there are many awkward trips to the washroom where someone with a full bladder opens the door to find a phantom sitting on the toilet. Half of a couple in the middle of having sex is floating in a hotel bedroom. Passengers who died on a flight are zipping through the air high above us, etc. I know we're not supposed to think about that but you can't help it. You expect the film to be about Ronnie and Lane discovering a conspiracy behind the remnants or that perhaps since “Brian” wants to harm her, that all remnants are about to turn on humanity unless the explosion's cause is discovered. You’re way, way off. The remnants are not integral to the story except to explain how Ronnie saw that first ghost, and why she begins a quest for answers.
At 98 minutes, this is a short film, and a significant chunk is spent on information that's ultimately useless. In fact, the role remnants ultimately play in the story proves this never should've been a movie. I can't emphasize how superfluous the ghost thing is in the end but you get stuck on that angle. It's all you care about. We know the remnants are not - as previously stated - forced to simply relive their last moments in the same place as they lived them. Obviously, “Brian” and his sumptuous behind didn’t die in his underwear in Ronnie’s bathroom 10 years ago. This means remants can be anywhere, at any time. They can also be animals and from a time period which precedes the explosion. What the rules are, you don't know - but you want to. Makes you wonder what happens when two of them collide.
What this movie is REALLY about is the mystery. Too bad it's nonsense. It’s impossible for you to figure out what really happened to Brian and how Ronnie ties to him. Once you learn the truth, it’ll leave your head spinning. Hopefully, fast enough for you to stop asking questions - or so director Scott Speer hopes. There are so many seemingly random aspects to the enigma that is Brian. February 29th is an important date, and a crucial clue to what’s happening. Why an explosion-created ghost would care about leap years, I don’t know. It gets crazier as bodies pile up and time starts to run out. You wonder how all of these clues and characters we’ve been introduced to will fit together. Got a theory? I can tell you without hearing it; you're wrong.
I Still See You is ridiculous. Its story derails itself. The film feels like it was re-written to contain a supernatural element. When the ghost thing didn’t sell, they altered the recipe again to draw in fans of the post-apocalyptic YA genre. In the end, there are more misshapen ideas than fully realized ones. It’s so utterly bewildering I think you can have a lot of fun with it as long as you know it’s a bad movie ahead of time. (June 28, 2019)

I’m particularly fascinated by the similarities but also total contrast between Moriarty and Milverton though.
Apparently the Soviet adaptation actually linked them somehow but I don’t remember that at all or how precisely it connected them (I was never a fan of the Soviet series, never got its appeal, didn’t even finish watching it because I liked it so little, but I know I did see that episode but I still don’t remember what the connection was).
And as far as I can remember (it’s a long time since I’ve seen it) the Granada adaptation actually made it pretty clear Milverton was blackmailing a queer man over... was it love letters to another man? And drove him to commit suicide. And I a hundred percent believe Moriarty is queer himself, and that of course Moran is queer too. I think it’s totally believable Milverton could have blackmailed queer men and might have tried to target one or both of them. I also think it’s believable some men, rather than go to someone like Holmes (who was too closely linked with the police) would go to someone like Moriarty for help (perhaps via Moran, who probably socialises more with queer men than Moriarty does and whose own queerness is perhaps more of an open secret) if they were targeted by Milverton. Probably even some other people targeted by him for other reasons would too. And I think it’s also totally believable that Moriarty would have loathed Milverton for being someone who blackmailed queer men and other very vulnerable people even if he wasn’t actually targeted himself.
I’m convinced Moriarty would never employ or make use of a man like Milverton and would find him as utterly repulsive as Holmes does and if Milverton ever did try to blackmail Moriarty or anyone connected to him Moriarty would have him destroyed. (And I mean, who does actually kill Milverton anyway? Who’s to say that person was not an agent of Moriarty?)

A Deadbeat’s Journal 13
A Jotaro Kujo x blackfemreader fic
March 8 20XX,
I don’t remember the last time I had a crush and even then the feelings sprouted on the need of being socially acceptable. Sure , the guy was somewhat attractive and had some charm but I never felt anything other than a slight fascination largely because I could not think of being seen interacting with someone who could barely keep up with my lingo. I talked and walked with the brightest of the bunch , was acquainted enough with my law professors and had an academic rivalry with the only person I have ever truly envied. He could barely keep up with the workload and simply said he would be starting a small photo freelancing gig because law wasn’t his passion.
How could I be seen walking with a lost cause ? Now I regret it . Maybe I shouldn’t have suppressed my romantic feelings cause I feel like it's all bursting out for Jotaro, It’s ridiculous. The one person who picked me up at my weakest and is always willing to lend a helping hand. I mean five year old me would be shivering at the thought of liking this guy. He wasn’t exactly my anti-thesis but he had somewhat adapted to not seeing everything as a competition to win. Alway level-headed and observant even when in intensely strenuous situations. He is mature and I’m still coping from the turbulence of my early years in my mid twenties. It's pathetic.
My eyes glances at the door whenever I hear him open the front door .I’m always willing to listen about his day and its ups and downs though I do get distracted by Adam's apple as he talks in rapt detail.  I find myself singing whenever I decide to cook something for him or thinking about his wide smile( that I hope is only reserved for me)when he sees I’ve cooked some of his favourite dishes.
As I write this , I realise that I’ve turned to a doting, 50s, housewife .Sure I don't cook and clean as much as I used to and Jotaro is quick to relieve me from doing any household chores as of late, but still I and Samosa patiently wait for him and he gives me an allowance now. I need to get back on the field because my musings of a life shared with him are nothing but false dreams, right?
I’m not stupid, I know that something has shifted despite not being able to pinpoint when exactly it did . We’ve shared more moments in the past three months than we have in our entire lifetime so something was bound to change .And unless I’m wrong but Jotaro is much more chivalrous than he was . It's not like he hasn’t behaved like a gentleman to him , his mom taught him better, but he does so much for me now.
I don't want to bring it up and I won’t be discussing this with anyone. Jotaro could also have become more giving because of my changing behaviour . I genuinely like him but if my infatuation falls to genuine love, I may have to let him know and calmly accept whatever rejection awaits me.
Third person narration.
Jotaro fell ill. The consistent deep sea diving during the extremities of the Mombasa weather has made his common cold grow increasingly worrisome. He tried getting up in the morning ,but couldn’t and decided to fall asleep again . Y/n , who had returned from her jog , noticed that his sliders were still in the rack, and when going to the door , found him sleeping . She called out to him and the lack of response prompted her to check his forehead temperature.
“Jesus Jojo, Your temperature is soaring. Why didn’t you call out for me” She asked, eyes widening as she withdrew her hand.
“I didn’t think it would get this serious. Just call the guys and tell them I won't be able to make it today.” He raspily responded . He was barely able to open his eyes purely due to fatigue and felt as though he was in Antarctica despite it being 32℃ . Yn moved fast, calling both Atieno and a doctor as she assumed he had Malaria. After the calls , she immediately went to prepare millet porridge and served it in record time.
“Jojo, sit up, I prepared porridge for you.”She cooed, setting the tray down on the bed drawer. He slowly sat up and Y/n fed him a spoonful.
“I can feed myself , I’m not a child.”he raspily said as he attempted to take the bowl.
“You can barely talk , let alone feed yourself. Don’t act like a child and let me help you.” She responded and fed him another spoon. This was done in quietness and despite Jotaro former complaints , he enjoyed being dotted on so before he realised, the bowl was quickly finished . Y/n gave him a Lucozade which he quickly drank .
“Why did you give me an energy drink?”He questioned after drinking it in its entirety.
“You ask me this after drinking it ? Anyways mom would give me this and Ribena whenever I fell ill and I’d be better by the next day .The only issue is that she palvolv’d me to drinking it only when I’m sick” She responded with a slight chuckle that Jotaro joined in.
“No wonder you were never into sweets. Your mom never gave them to you when you were younger.” He said weakly .
“Yep, and now you should go to sleep, the doctor will be here soon.” She replied as he once again became drowsy.
“Thank you .” He murmured before drifting off to unconsciousness.Y/n only smiled as she took the tray and cleaned the kitchen . As she fed Samosa, she cautioned her not to go disturb Jotaro as she had the tendency to sometimes jump on his bed  whenever he’s sleeping. She was completely restless, not only was the doctor running late but Jotaro’s fever was yet to subside. As she prepared rice and bone stew she decided to phone the two people who know how to handle an ill patient.
“Mom….Look I don’t want to discuss anything right now ….Jotaro is sick and I genuinely feel lost , his fever hasn’t dropped and his breathing is still erratic,....at first I thought it was malaria too but the symptoms are becoming more severe, please come…thanks, bye.”
“Mama Jotaro…hi ….. I’m fine and I hope you are doing well ….Jotaro is sick …his temperature just shot up but he himself seems cold….he’s groaning a bit ….yes I called a doctor ….are you sure, I’ve never seen him like this …..okay if that’s what you say ….thank you , bye.”
After a surprisingly calm call with Holly about Jotaro’s health , Jotaro called out and Y/n took out warm water with a pinch of lemon to him.
“Here, I know you are thirsty , drink this.”she said, Just then the door widened and Samosa stepped in. Noticing how disturbed Jotaro was , she sat herself on the end of the bed and began to sleep.
“I told her not to disturb you” She clicked out.
“Its fine.” He responded with a cough.
“I can’t sleep, can you stay with me ,please?” He groaned .
Y/n moved to the opposite bed , keeping distance because she was not willing to catch the potentially contagious illness. Jotaro seemingly didn’t care and with the little strength he had ,pulled  her directly to his extremely warm body and placed her on his lap , back facing his chest.Flushed at his boldness , Y/n said;
“Do you want me sick ? What will happen if it's me who’s sick two days from now?”
“I’ll take care of you. You are so warm , it's like hugging a body sized hot pocket.”he declared as he buried his face directly on Y/n’s neck.
“And you are uncomfortably warm . Stop that . it’s ticklish” She reprimanded though the slight giggles made it seem as though she wasn’t seriously admonishing him.He did stop attempting to burrow at her neck , completely contented at squeezing her,
“Why are you so soft?” He rhetorically asked as he squeezed her entire body.
“Shea butter and fat.” She simply replied though , her voice was unnaturally pitchy.
Just then , the doorbell rang and she jumped out of his , quite weak , clutches which Jotaro only responded with a huff . Y/n was grateful , any more of his hugging would have melted her.She opened the door to find her mom carrying some vegetables. One welcomed in and relieving her mom of the goods , Ms Faith moved to his room.
“Oh Jotaro, you look so sick , You have fed him right?” She softly asked.
“Yeah .”Y/n stiffly responded .
“Okay , I brought the celery and marobaini juice , trust me , nothing works better than that juice when it comes to healing anything.” She responded after checking his temperature.
“Mama, you know I don’t like these herbal medicines.” Jotaro complained loudly.
“Shhh, it’s not like they are meant to be liked . Besides , you’re lucky I’m not shoving it down your throat right now . My mom would have bathed me in warm water and force fed me.” She admonished which made him quickly comply with her demands and stay silent.
“Now Y/n have you made the rice and bone soup?”
“Yep”
“Feed it to him now then one hour later give him the juice alright dear.” She softly commanded and Y/n nodded at . After coddling Jotaro with assurances of getting better , Ms Faith went but not without saying;
“I hope to speak to you soon , Mama misses you.”
Y/n took Jotaro’s midday meal and after feeding him called the doctor once more , She was beginning to get frustrated as it was already 2pm and still no sign of the doctor she has been calling since 8.Jotaro seemed a bit energetic but still lethargic taking small periods of naps and drinking water.
By 4 the doctor hadn’t still arrived and Y/n was pissed. She dialled the number and before they could say anything she stated;
“I don’t know the kind of game you’re playing but it has to stop, it's almost 10 hours since I called you first and you have been a no show. If you aren’t here in 10 minutes , I’m calling management.” and cut the call.
Surely enough ,by 10 minutes he had arrived . He seemed fairly tall and attractive with wide eyes ,a pointed nose and two toned lips however, his brown skin was dull and the bags under his eyes said enough about his current state and for a moment Y/n seemed apologetic.
“Hi I’m Maina , I’m sorry to be late , my secretary double booked me.”He simply responded as Y/n led him in .
“I’m sorry for being so aggressive , it's just that my husband is ill for the first time in a while and the symptoms have not been dwindling.” Y/n half lied . He walked in and Samosa ,noting the intruder and dashed out of her position on the bed. He removed his stethoscope and flashlight from his leather briefcase and after greeting Jotaro proceeded with the examination . After around two minutes of interrogative questions he simply said;
“These symptoms point to pneumonia.” and Y/n almost broke down.
“Not to worry , I had brought some medicine though you’d have to buy another and your wife has done a lovely job at dissuading the cold . Two more days of the same care and you’ll be good to go.” He concluded as he rose up from the chair beside Jotaro.
“Isn't two a bit too much ?” Jotaro retorted.
“Two is perfect , you could have died jojo pneumonia is not a small illness.”Y/n replies aloud.
“It's not as life threatening to adults as it is to children but I suggest you take your wife’s advice and take a small leave from work to recoup.” He calmly responded.
Y/n paid him and escorted him back .When she walked back to Jotaro’s room he asked;
“Why do you never refer to me as a friend, it's always a relation of some sort whenever we are around people we don't know ?”
“I hate explaining what we are. People can be so invasive sometimes so it’s better to get it out of the way.”She responded as she attempted to read the drugs prescribed to Jotaro.
“You could have said cousin instead of husband .” He responded with a smirk .She shrugged her shoulders in response , and with an unfazed look replied;
“Didn’t think it through.” She absentmindedly responded , smile taking over her face as she had cracked the doctor’s illegible cursive . Jotaro , annoyed that she wasn’t into him slowly woke up.
He was already beginning to feel better ,his workout routine and supplement intake had improved his immunity greatly and he knew this . He just wanted a day with Y/n in bed and she was far too busy trying to make him better; he ended up spending a good portion of the day asleep. Now that he can stand up , he walked toward her and hugged her from behind while softly moaning out;
“Come back to bed, please .” Now Y/n was internally squealing both at his voice and plea.
“You’re acting like we sleep on the same bed all the time.”she coughed out ,trying to take reins of her galloping heart.
“Maybe we should start doing that . You’re so warm and soft like bread , I’d cuddle you all the time.” He honestly responded .She almost started running laps at the remark and before she could let her excitement show , she said ;
“First shower, then wait for me to buy your medicine . We can cuddle afterwards “ She quickly remarked and rushed out of the apartment before he could complain.
“Why did I say that? Am I losing my brain to mouth filter due to this illness? “Jotaro questioned aloud while showering and afterwards , he definitely felt a lot better than before. He gave Samosa a pet which she enthusiastically responded to with a love bite . He assumed that she could have smelled the illness that had subsided. He changed his sweaty sheets to cleaner ones and sprayed some cologne on them . As soon as he was done, she walked back in a cheeky smile .
“What now?”Jotaro asked in slight concern as he sat underneath his sheets.
“All your medicines are syrups!” She enthusiastically responded , far too delighted to see him groan in utter disgust and repulsion.
“No , I’m not drinking them.” He adamantly refused pushing the medicine cap away from his mouth.
“Don’t make me shove this down your throat.” She retorted .
After a slight bickering , Jotaro , under command , gulped down every drink Y/n force fed him.
“See that wasn’t so bad.”She said as she neatly arranged them in the drawer.
“There’s only one syrup I wouldn’t mind taking over again .”Jotaro said with a smirk exposing his perverted thought.
“Oh really , which one did you like?” Y/n innocently asked as she pointed down to the medicines.
“Nevermind.” He quickly brushed off as Y/n scowled in utter confusion whilst walking out to get a shower. After finding a cute pyjama set to wear , she walked back in Jotaro’s room and sat on the opposite side and once more Jotaro huffed;
“Just come closer. At least now you know it's not contagious.”
He carries her to his lap and she decides to read the novel she’s been enthralled in recently . The novel is a genre bending detective story and she can’t get her eyes away from it whenever she begins reading it . Jotaro is displeased with her unassuming nature to him and raspily says ;
“Read it to me.”
“No, if you can’t follow along then suffer.”she aloofly remarks .
He decidedly results in reading alongside and as he goes on grows interested in the characters yet becomes visibly disturbed by the gore depictions of the victims. He gets so engrossed that he notices the minute break that Y/n takes to turn the page and hastily questions,
“Are you not done yet? Some of us would like to see what happens next”
“I’m pondering on the words you idiot!”
“It’s not like you can guess the killer based on the clues given ,” he ridiculed.
“I think you are forgetting I have a degree in Law? And just for that remark, I’m telling you right now that the killer is xxx” She proudly states.
“And I say the killer is yyy and if you stopped turning so slowly we would have already known.”he kidded which Y/n grumpily complied .
And so the evening ended with y/n being right which Jotaro went on a debate that he could have easily guessed the killer if he had the 50 page headstart Y/n had which she chided at that the clues only started being exposed at the 60th page mark . Jotaro adamantly refused to let go of Y/n that night , cuddling her even as she attempted to go on a midnight toilet run which he only complied to.
March 12 20XX,
Today was Jotaro’s last sick leave and I’m under the notion that he was dragging it out as he had already gotten better on the same day he fell ill. I found an even cuter side to Jotaro, I would have never guessed that he enjoyed cuddling so much . Every morning I tried waking up , he’d immediately stop me in my tracks and shove him even deeper to my chest . I must be incredibly touch starved, hopelessly infatuated or a mix of both because I could never refuse the tug and his deep morning voice that begged for five more minutes.
We decided to use the swimming pool again because I told him that we rarely use the apartment amenities to full use and he agreed . The pool was a bit full today , with largely the moms and kids but it was still big enough for us to separate ourselves from them . Who knew Jojo was so well known? He greeted everyone and started almost long winded discussions with the neighbours . When asked who I was , he slyly said ;
“My wife “
To which I would interject and say I’m his friend and roommate. Honestly he must be coming to the conclusion that I like him and in total man-like fashion is teasing me about it . I’m honestly both aware of the fragility of our feelings and want it to get more rigidity before making a move . I both know and don’t know who Jotaro Kujo is. I can easily tell you his major accomplishments but I still don’t know how many teaspoons of sugar he takes.
I’ll take our relationships like a raft placing its destination on the waves and if the waves come crashing down on the shores of love , I’ll alight willingly

original ideas that I’ll probably never get around to writing pt 3
Odysseus meets Cassandra and incidentally adopts her and basically rewrites the story of the Illiad. Also, Penelope is an awesome mother and odysseuses son and the both love the Trojan seer too.
NEW STORY:
A girl gets kidnapped by alien teenagers, who decide to play a prank on the alien “friend” they bully and tell them to shift to look like a human, make them trade clothes and things and as a joke “leave her there in the place of the human” the teens get caught speeding by the intergalactic police. The police find the human girl on board, and they decide to bring her to the station and find a way to bring her home. Except, one officer that does the examination on her sees that since she’s in near perfect condition, decides to sell her.
Humans are apparently very popular pets, every since the published papers about the scientist picking up the musician human girl and their experiences. He sells her to slave traders. She gets packed on a slave ship, and stays there for several weeks. The traders do uncomfortable examinations on her (there’s even a couple human men who join in). The slave traders also need to bulk up and break down the merchandise so there are several implied torture scenes. She’s scared out of her mind and the other slave aliens notice and adopt her as their child. She even starts to call one mama. It’s very heartbreaking when they are forced apart.
Eventually, she ends up in a privileged aliens house where she gets locked in a cage all day, eats only scraps and forced to perform tricks for the family. Two important things happen, the child alien leaves her outside for a couple months alone (forcing her body to adapt to have its own powers, gravity, heart rate, camouflage, temperature, strength, flexibility, lung control etc. and forage for her own food (the food she eats is like the equivalent of captain marvels powers plus indominus Rex plus Spider-Man)) and a family friend asks for her name, and she says her name. The family is shocked that she talked without permission and hits her so hard that her arm breaks.
Now bound by a witness and scared for their “pet” the family takes her to a vet against their wishes. The vet asks to see her papers, and when the family doesn’t have them, she calls the police. They find out from the human all that has happened and promise to reunite her with her slave alien family. She joins the force and helps rescue each of her family members. The head of the slave trade organization is the father of the alien left in the humans place on earth.
Meanwhile, the alien is actually pretty good at being the human and likes it. Does not want to return to her old life. The human girl finally confronts the head, and the figure out that the alien was left in her place is the traders daughter. She shoots him so he can’t move and uses his resources to get a ship back to her home, promising alien mama that she will come back, she just has to clear a few things up.
When she arrives, it’s by the side of her house, when the alien is taking out the trash. Together they walk in and explain things to the parents. The alien girl is happy here, she is as much your daughter as I was.
“Was? But you are still our daughter-“
“Not anymore. I-I’ve grown up. I’ve seen the dangers of the galaxy. I’ve been taken from my home and now that I am home, I don’t even feel safe here anymore. I’m not gonna let anyone else feel that way ever again. I’m sorry Lorraine , I’m not your daughter anymore. She is. If I stay, I’ll never feel comfortable in my own skin. I know I don’t need your permission, but I do need to know if you’ll still love me.”
“Of course we do, there is nothing we could be prouder of than you doing what you want to do.” Big sad moment, but then Oh No! Slave trader dude has come to take humans in exchange for his daughter! Human girl asks the daughter if she can kill him. Alien girl says yes, he hurt so many people, he’s my dad and I still love him, but I give you permission to end him. Human girls shows off her powers, that earns her the moniker “Galaxia” across the universe.
NEW STORY:
Little girl explores and meets Norse, Scottish, Irish mythological creatures.
NEW STORY:
Book that becomes whatever you need to read when you need it
NEW STORY:
The stories of the people I’ve met, what I know about them and if I saw them ever again, people with faces but no names to put to, names with no faces and hazy clouded memories. How each one o remember something, an adventure, a conversation, a moment where we connect.
NEW STORY:
A girl finds out the boy in her class is a werewolf and has been hunting the local deer population almost down to extinction and caused quite a few injuries on some unlucky people. She offers to help him out so he doesn’t hurt anyone, and slowly they figure out that if they feed him a ton of calories before and after, and play with him they slowly find out that he’s a good wolf, he’s just a big ol’ puppy. And with more control when he’s wolf means he can do it anytime, day or night Monday or Thursday, any. Time. Or alternatively, he approaches her in wolf form when she’s crying and licks away her tears and they grow up together, both wolf and human form. He’s got like 10 siblings and his parents are awesome.
NEW STORY:
Story about zodiac signs
NEW STORY:
3 girls are best friends, who on the same day lose everything. A wealthy Christian girl (who doesn’t know that she’s wealthy) receives news that her grandparents/guardians who went on a trip to Hawaii got caught in the eruption and died, a girl (not entirely human) who accidentally set fire to her own home and loved watching the flames until she realized she killed her cat, and a girl abused by her own family to be an hero escapes because she let her best friend be killed in her place and watched it happen, really manipulative. Kinda all morally grey, they are hero’s in some places and villains in others. They go on a road trip trying to find people willing to bear their burdens? Or something. Idk.
NEW STORY:
Fluff story about a mute florist and her language of flowers
NEW STORY
Girl who thinks she broke her tailbone is surprised when 3 months later she has a tail. It’s really painful if she sits in it wrong, and eventually she’s the daughter of a no name demon, meant to take down the king. But she just wants to stay at school. (This on is actually based on me growing a pilonidal cyst, growing things with a munch of nerves in it is INCREDIBLY PAINFUL)
NEW STORY:
A library of all knowledge, three stories, post quarantine?? Called the library of Alexandria and has a copy of every book in the world in every language. Including lost times of knowledge. Secret society of librarians who guard it, girl keeps finding it and makes friends with the people she finds and becomes like the co-president without meaning to.

3. People refuse against all evidence, literally all evidence, to believe in evolution, to this day, about, what, 160 years later? Something close to that. With the internet, people still refuse to learn things. With doctors that can do miracles, people don’t believe them. With scientists that can attempt just about anything these days from artificial intelligence already far too smart to be comprehensible to our ideas of how smart a thing could possibly be, from gene editing, to the most complex and slippery quantum theories and mathematics, to rockets that hit insane speeds to leave earth’s orbit built and launched without fanfare or any yet-unconquerable-struggles, people still actively hate and distrust science and scientists. The scientific method, the most trustworthy thing possible, they trust to give accurate results not at all. Not as a process, not as a profession. For many kinds of reasons, all of which can masquerade all they like as good but which all seem to me bad and false and cynical for rejecting the things which seem logically to me to be best in the world and about the world and made by the best kinds of people and efforts in the world. So therefore, understanding that about people, (even if I don’t forgive it) and wanting them to like and see me anyway, and wanting to make people happy anyway, via the positive ideas I embody in my life, I should…logically…be able to develop a system of thinking and feeling that allows me to do those “high cost low material reward” actions with an emotionally-less-attached + non-emotionally-dependent-priority-level style of going about and watching the results of them. I should and must be able to both not expect to have myself seen and understood, and to expect being seen and understood eventually. Because only repeated and therefore unquestionable positive actions will hold up to people’s reconsidering (and, next step, successive mental repicturing, hopefully simultaneously with the initial self-doubt of their idea of their understanding of me and not a discarded line of unpleasant self-questioning of theirs, which people will do as they hate thinking or questioning themselves very much) of my motives if and when they ever do after long long periods (decades even) of knowing me well. And because, I’m gonna have to believe, with some sort of insane faith, that I am special, and that unlike science and medicine and evidence and logic and obvious fact based on tangible everyday visible touchable testable available-for-mental-questioning continuous-existences of things making up reality for almost all people on earth, unlike those things, I will be seen and correctly understood in everything I do and am, by some non-insignificant (~more than 1/100) amount of people in my life, at all times, in the course of my entire life, based upon no evidence this will be possible or is likely. But also based around no evidence it’s not possible or likely either, as I’ve never been me in my contexts before and you never know how much a group of people will react to one person versus the way they’ll react to another. You just can’t. I just know how I’ve seen other people treated by most people, and they’re not seen or understood until they’re dead if ever (usually never). But I also know people so far have treated me far better than the populace treats, sat, Jesus, or beautiful harmless animals with one valuable part in the wild, or dogs, which are the purest good in the animal kingdom to ever possibly exist for us or just period in their social and attentive and adaptable and useful behavior and genetics and basic all-terrain-mastering anatomy for planet earth in all its variety and need for non-invasive small omnivorous ecosystem-helping mammals with non-actively-evil/predatory behavior patterns. Is that because I am large muscular and intimidating? Maybe, but I think it’s mainly because I’ve put good out and gotten good back in. If I am to appear as if I’m totally functional and normal and to appear at first to prioritize copying and assimilating chameleon-style w/ the time+place..
