Putting this here because I've been struggling a whole lot to build Luocha to be decent and it forced me to learn to appreciate things like this. He surely has more room for improvement, but it's the proudest I've been in terms of relic (and by extension artifact too in Genshin, I don't think I've got good ones like this for a single character) farming. Ironically, even if Luocha needs the opposite of Blade, he's being way harder to build even though before 1.2 I thought I had him actually decent. The more you know—

the ability to teach yourself new things. idk maybe as a teacher i am biased but i really believe that the single most transformative gift you can give any human being is a deep understanding of how people learn and improve at things. what is more hopeful, more inspiring, or more life-affirming than the realization that you can learn new things at any age, and that the new things you learn (plus the joyful process of learning itself!) can utterly transform the way you experience the world and understand yourself? what is more amazing or incredible than the realization that learning things is not a mysterious & passive process that happens to you but a reasonably consistent set of steps and tools that you can learn how to master and apply to virtually any skill or domain of human knowledge? the superpower of being able to learn/improve at anything you set your mind to… but also the superpower inherent in that quiet unwavering certainty that even if you feel stuck at various points in your life, you have within yourself the capacity to get unstuck through learning and changing and growing and experiencing new things. wowowowowowowow!!!!! what an extraordinary gift!!!!

#i did a classroom observation this week #in a mid-level environmental science research methods course #and at other points in my life i would've been either bored stiff by this experience or terrified because Science Is Hard #and I Am Humanities Person Cannot Do Science #but i actually found myself getting really fascinated by some of the stuff they were doing #i think combined with all the scientific studies i've been reading over the past six months related to fertility stuff #and i was like oh wait like #i could see myself going back and doing a bachelor's degree in a science field #like yeah this is unfamiliar to me & i have a lot of baggage around being Bad at STEM #but actually through doing lots of work with researchers & learning how research works in my own field #i think i've absorbed an understanding of some of the habits of mind science values #and i feel confident enough in my understanding of how people learn new things #that i bet i could apply that knowledge to learning disciplines that previously seemed Off Limits to me #anyway idk just #what a joy it is to be a thinking learning human in the world #how lucky are we!!!!!

I just had to share this video because holy shit, it hits the nail right on the head! So well spoken. This stuff needs to be circulated more, esp with the growing number of people thinking they have this because of misinformation, or just outright faking it.

#it's painful because i knew someone who personally faked this stuff (or has convinced herself she has it i can't even tell) #she had spent all her time on tiktok and i know for 100% sure that's where she got the idea. it's TRAGIC how fast things went downhill #i'm legit horrified at how many people (esp young kids of 13-14) think they have this too. or are just pretending #i've been neck deep in hardcore research (and i'm talking pubmed sciencedirect etc only) for months #and those kids definitely don't have did.. if they have trauma and are dissociating it's going to be something else like dpdr etc #the number of stupid 'you have did' answers i see for totally basic questions like 'i got dizzy what's wrong w me' is insane too #it's like googling 'muscle twitch' and then thinking you have some rare 1/billion familial cancer thing despite other obvious explanations #but worse.. in these cases the information is being fed to them. they don't have an opportunity to explore other possibilities #and the worst part is they don't even know to CHECK THE VALIDITY OF WHAT THESE PEOPLE ARE SAYING. they don't have info literacy #like i'll say this once: did is so rare that it's STILL contentious about whether it even exists #and it only happens in the most unimaginably traumatic experiences. think of the worst possible things you could do to a child #where even just thinking about it makes you uncomfortable. I call it the Second Chance AU It's specifically for Cat Quest 2

Basically the two protagonists are sent back home, but instead of losing all their memories they keep them, and are forced to figure out how to fix things before both fall into all out chaos.

#It's mainly about them making connections with the people in the kingdoms #because one of Lioner and Wolfen's biggest flaws was not paying attention to the needs of the subjects #for the sake of separation I call the main protagonists Felis and Canis respectively #that way I don't have to always specify which version of them I'm taking about #this is just a basic summary of it (I just woke up and my brain is still trying to start up lol) and there's a couple more details that #are in the story. like O had this whole idea for a cult that followed Aelius that would act as the main antagonist (inspired by an anime #I really like) and with the AU came a lot of filling in little world building details not touched on by the game #like how magic works and the differences in culture between the two kingdoms (I've been meaning to do some research for that) #I also have an idea for a sub-plot touching on what could have happened to Felinguard and why he mysteriously disappeared #there's also a handful of ocs. some of which I have yet to draw. that will be included due to the nature of the story being about connection #anyway #it's still technically in developmental phase partly because I'm afraid of it not coming across right when I write it down #so yea #Skylar answers stuff #thank you btw :) seeing this first thing in the morning made my day

#song of the day #today class we will be discussing a tale of human suffering #so I mentioned yesterday how 'Slow Ride' by Foghat was the song of the day because of how the first ninety seconds were continuous-looping #alright yeah so now imagine me sitting shotgun as we drive half an hour to the movie theater #(to see Godzilla Minus One. it was bitchin I do very very recommend) #and the boys are discussing the latest construction along our highway #which has been a topic of great consideration for me actually #--I had a thought about erosion patterns and groundworks the other day and I went on a whole research spiral #downloaded some guy's doctoral research and all. we know how the research spirals go-- #anyway this is a topic I would have loved to weigh in on! #but instead every mental width of band I had was dedicated to my subconscious' dogged insistence #that the assonance and emphasis and rhythm of 'are we allies or enemies' and 'slow ride / take it easy' were similar enough #that I should be able to find a way to match them up to one another's backings #so the boys were like 'Alexis what do you think of those pylons' and I was trying so so so hard to answer #(I think they're moving the I-95 interchange ramps entirely and adding a new lane over--y'all can't see me point. it's over there though) #I was trying so hard to answer but it was like a little cartoon man trying to climb up a rockslide #except the man is my answer about the bridges for the interstate ramps #and all the comically round rocks ponking off his forehead were different ways a person might be able to scrunch and/or stretch syllables #to fit the choruses of these two songs over one another. #I've spent the past week organizing in the play's wake - sorting and laundering huge numbers of costumes #some to return to those they belong to and some to come home to my costume storage room which had become chaotic over the last few #months #so a complete spring cleaning for the storage room became part of my task list too. Now the play's been over for a week #and the emails are starting to come in from admin about next year. As some of you know I did a lot of discernment this semester #about what next year should look like and I have decided a mix of continuity is best. I won't be working for my 'main' schoolboard anymore #but I will continue to teach and direct for the one program in the city (the one I did the play for) and possibly with a new home school #enrichment program that may go ahead this year if there are sufficient numbers. Otherwise I am going to spend a semester #tutoring and running workshops f I can get it off the ground. Then we'll see. #Anyway - admin wants me to get new syllabi in to them within a month's time so my thoughts are all in that direction! #I get to teach 19th/20th century Canadian history to the middle schoolers and Late Antique/Medieval Church History to the high schoolers! #Also direct another play and do a humanities course centred around an epic in the spring (the last couple of years we've done Iliad and #Odyssey - they want Aeneid this year but I am trying to talk them into another option. The Aeneid is valuable but I am not sure it's the #time or place with this group of students. The result of all this is that I am spending far too much time doing Internet research for ideas #and then taking breaks on tumblr - which isn't good for my eyes or mental health. What with the play and end of term #I fear I've been out of the reading habit. I'm still hyperfixating on the Book of Romans so there's that at least #but I lost the novel I was in the middle of and am not feeling so motivating with out books. It's a proper reading slump! einar marrying aymeric would he be einar mal de borel? or blair being formally adopted blair bas de borel? it's not as big of a thought with einar since he defected and rarely shares what his rank was, it's more thoughts for blair and how that'd work.

It's interesting to me that this image of Passione's hierarchy here in the anime has a "consiglieri" position. For a start, that's not where the consigliere usually goes in mafia heirarchies:

Also, assuming that the consigliere is supposed to be Doppio because I can't imagine it being anyone else (though Doppio is lumped in with Unita Speciale a lot of the time so idk), he... doesn't really fit what a consigliere is supposed to do? The consigliere is supposed to be like an elder advisor to the Boss that argues with him and helps him plan his actions- they're sometimes also a right-hand-man, which sort of fits Doppio, but not really.

Despite the term never actually being used in the story to my memory, Doppio much more closely resembles an underboss, which is like a second-in-command helper that takes over if the Boss can't perform for some reason (usually a family member to the Boss). Since in the VA heirarchy, "consigliere" takes up where "underboss" is usually supposed to be, I kinda wonder if they were just mixing up mafia terms here. Oh well.
