SQUEEEEE!!!!! MY TWO FAVORITE HEROS MIGHT TEAM UP IN MY FAVORITE DD FIC!!! IM FEELING FERAL!!! But, seriously, I probably wouldn't love DD as much as I do now if it wasn't for all the mentor matt fics that came out after NWH that got me to watch the show so the idea that spidy/peter might show up soon has me fucking ecstatic

Wouldn't be a long DD fic without Spidey showing up! 🥰🥰🥰 I've honestly been so excited to bring him in, biding my time until the timeline matched. He was one of the first superheroes I latched onto via cartoons as a kid and then the movies started and I just - I fucking love Spiderman, I've loved all of his movies, loved the different takes on him with Tobey and Andrew and now Tom and all the Spideys in Into the Spider-Verse, too, so I knew I couldn't do TRT without having him show up - and especially since NWH and the ensuing fic was a LOT of peoples' introduction to Charlie!Daredevil, and that makes me so, SO happy cause it gives me more people to talk about Daredevil with, and it means Charlie gets more love, which I'm all for obviously. 😂

It's basically an open secret now so I may as well just confirm he's going to be our next cameo when we hit Queens, and it's not going to be the 'two people removed' cameo like Tony Stark. This will be actual Peter and he'll be popping in and out going forward, as will some other characters. Cause at this point, we're not only approaching Sokovia Accords: Population All Enhanced, but we're also reaching the tipping point at which Jane is going to be known enough for other heroes to come knocking.

How would you rank the gens?

Ope I feel like I'm gonna upset some people LOL so disclaimer remember these are just my takes.

But this is how I personally see them (counting remakes as being part of the gen they remaking):

Gen 9 - Paldea Region

I've been thinking about this since the games came out, so I'd like to say recency bias isn't as much of a factor here. Bugs aside, I genuinely, genuinely love the storytelling, characterizations, and open world approach. FRIENDS THAT FEEL LIKE ACTUAL FRIENDS?? HAVING THE LEGENDARY WITH YOU THE WHOLE TIME, AND IT TOO HAS A PERSONALITY & BACKSTORY??? THREE SEPERATE STORYLINES THAT CONNECT TO A CANONICALLY DEAD PROFESSOR AND AN "EVIL AI" FINAL BOSS??? Like omg. I was amazed. I honestly usually dislike the "gimmicks" each generation brings, but terastilization caught my interest and I have a strong feeling nothing will personally top it as a gimmick for me. The DLCs really sent it all home for me for the #1 spot, like oh my god LOL. Past DLCs always just felt like something extra, but I literally cannot see this game as being complete without Kieran, Carmine & the rest of Kitakami/Blueberry peeps & their storylines. My interest in the games only grew because of all of it - and that's a massive compliment given the fact of how hard it is to accomplish such a level of monumental significance with only a few hours of gameplay. I've yet to replay the game with earlier access to The Teal Mask, but I feel like this would make it even more immersive. Just pure chef kisses here.

Gen 2 - Johto Region

A very close second. Heartgold/Soulsilver is the most elite remake in existence and idc if it's old school, I'll die on this hill. Johto is just so full of life - the continuation story is amazing, the immersion into culture and legendary stuff??? Mwah. Silver is an excellent rival, RED being a thing (the ultimate level of iconicism), and the double region will always hit. The soundtracks HIT and my god hearing them remastered iS INCREDIBLE. I even get obsessed with the pokeathlon dome and I'm usually not someone who gets into that kind of stuff. But THEY MADE IT FUN. And I love all the cute activities you can do with your team that can follow you around. So glad they brought this feature back. :')

Gen 5 - Unova Region

Oooooh I loved the reset of Gen 5. It's based on where I'm from and there were so many refreshing aspects of Black & White. From the new pokemon, to the NYC culture, to N & the whole beautiful storytelling there, and a sequel that somehow made everything even MORE polished. I literally remember referring to this region as the "Isshu Region" before the English names dropped becuase of the hype LOL. 10/10, cannot wait for these remakes. Gamefreak don't mess this up.

Gen 4 - Sinnoh Region

Oh, Gen 4. You hit good. The lowkey dreary vibes of Sinnoh is very nostalgic to me, and Piplup is one of my best buddies. Cynthia being the very first female Champion, and being as fearsome as she is, was such a big deal to me. Definetely Barbie'd her a bit in my mind because I look a like her and loved how much of an academic she was (but I def do not have her length in hair, lmao). Soundtracks are fire, of course. The way legendaries were integrated in the story without going too Dragonball Z was IMMACULATE, and the lake trio will always be my fave lil buddies. The only con I'd give this gen is that I disliked the HM reliance & D/P are practically unplayable to me since Platinum exists. I had low bars for the remake once I heard it wasn't Platinum, and ugh, they really dropped the ball. HOWEVER: while it isn't main line, I fucking love Legends: Arceus and would rather have that over an excellent remake, tbh.

Gen 1 - Kanto Region

This is another nostalgia one for me because of the fact that I quite literally was introduced to pokemon since before I can recall most memories (this is what happens when you have an older sibling with a gameboy, lol). It's probably tied with Gen 4, tbh. Firered wasn't my first game, but it hit really good because I "played" so much of R/B/Y. I know Gen 1 has its faults, and it's often seen as being pretty bare bones in comparison to other generations. And while I completely agree, god damn, what a good foundation for a franchise. Every town had a personality to it and is very memorable to me. The soundtracks are FIRE. Smaller pokedex, but damn does team building hit (and the starters are elite). Blue was also consistently my favorite rival until Kieran, lol. #oldrivalshipping/conflictingshipping was the original OTP xD

Gen 7 - Alola Region

So there's a lot of things I liked about Gen 7. It took a really big risk by breaking the formula, and it really immersed me into the Hawaiian culture & seeing your pokemon more as friends. I loved looking at pokemon in a different way and some of the pokemon introduced in this region are among my favorites (e.g. Ribombee, Bewear, Shiinotic, Mimikyu, Rockaruff, to name a few; starters also HIT). NEBBY AND LILLIE ARE ELITE. The professor is so lit, and Team Skull is the funniest team organization alive. AND YES, GET RID OF THE HMS. I honestly think a remake would make this gen jump up a bit more for me - the 3DS could barely handle this game, and it was showing. The facial expressions also need some work LOL, and I honestly dread the tutorial of the game. I like the ultrabeasts conceptually, but the execution of their involvement in the game is very DragonBall Z-ified. Ultra Necrozma lowkey would've been an amazing time for a "light" type even if it didn't make much sense, but hey, it was an awesome nuzlocke-killing moment anyway. xD

Gen 8 - Galar Region

I actually have a lot of play time for this gen. I was very obsessed with it when it came out, and could probably get glued to it all the same nowadays. But in hindsight, I realize a lot of my attachment to it was because of the semi-open worldness & ability to create a lot of different kinds of teams with a lot of new and old pokemon I like (I also liked having access to things earlier, like Ice Types before the end of the game lmfao). I still have a few things I really enjoy outside of it, though, like Hop's storyline & the setup of the gyms being in this stadium, sports-esque setting. But the plot? Eh. I have a lot of constructive criticism on how some shortcuts were made, and especially with the whole darkest day stuff lol. The only thing I liked about that fight was the dogs coming in and being cool; I wasn't impressed by or interest in Eternatus at all. The Leon fight afterward was fun, though! But oof, those weird men with the sword and shield hair afterwards were also just...no. :D DLCs also didn't quite hit that hard - it was more about having more pokemon than anything for me. So overall, it's fun to play, but I'd definitely change up the plot to make it better.

Gen 3 - Hoenn Region

This is where I think some people might wanna fight me, and to that I say you're probably valid. I don't know what it is with the Hoenn region because I actually don't have too many critiques about it (e.g., let's have less water routes); I just have never been able to get into it quite the same as I can others. I should honestly give it another shot, but I think I'd wanna do Emerald over Omega Ruby/Sapphire given the route they took everything with the remake lol. That's about all I have to say on this one since I never really connected with it as much!

Gen 6 - Kalos Region

This one feels like an especially hot take to have atm given where the pokemon community is in general LOL. Critical opinions ahead......Listen...no offense, but Gen 6 just ain't it for me at all. xD It's probably the one gen I actively dislike. The games felt way too easy with too much hand-holding/handouts, Team Flare & Diantha were a joke (and I'm not even a competitive player), and the whole group of friends felt more like an annoyance to me more than anything. They just weren't flushed out right. Neither was the plot. Like what was that plot. Outside of that, a lot of things just felt like "Look! Pokemon is in 3D now!!" over and over again because of how rushed the game was. So other than introducing fairy types & having pretty protagonists with some new clothing options, this gen is pretty forgettable to me. And that's a shame, because I like pokemon! I was one of those people who were curious on if we were gonna connect to Kalos for Gen 9, but I'd geniunely pick the DLCs we got any day of the week. I don't think Legends ZA will change much of my opinion on the mainline game, but given how much I loved Legends Arceus, I'm hoping it can be used to retcon & generate more interest/connection to the Kalos region in general.

huge fan of the concept where lovers are separated but it's this intense bittersweet moment between them when they are, where they promise each other that they'll find each other, no matter what.

anyway. putting my destiel goggles on and making the world a better place: in the scenario where chuck didn't destroy all the other worlds (which is like. ig it's kind of canon now?), what if the empty realizes that it can't keep cas bc meddling meddlers will meddle, so instead takes a leaf out of Cas' own book and keeps shuttling him inbetween worlds like they are biggerson's and he is the angel tablet ykwim?

he can't stay in any universe for too long but every time he gets dropped in one, he tries to go find dean because he doesn't know what else to do. every version of dean he sees gives him new diseases because they're just like his dean but also not. he also keeps getting dropped in different time periods too so once he'll be with a dean who never managed to save his brother in, say, S2 and he's this broken, ruthless hunter kind of like endverse dean but so much more worse, and then immediately after it's like. 11 year old dean who lives with. idk. Kate Milligan bc John actually did not go insane with grief and remarried and Dean has two younger brothers now and he's healthy and happy and normal. and every time he's trying to help them but he gets yanked out before he can do much. it's torture of the worst kind to him, but he endures it bc he's crazy and also this just means he gets to have dean in some shape right like he's still somehow connected to dean and not away from him forever and he'll convince himself that that's enough.

Multidimensional time travelling cardis notwithstanding, i do like the idea of Deanchester just chasing after Cas through the dimensions bc before he dies Jack tries to find Cas and can't do it and then after he dies he sees Jack and he's like where's Cas and jack is like i can't find him I'm so sorry and Dean's like wdym and Jack is like he's not in the empty idk and then Dean's like. what if. what if you had like a piece of his grace w you could you find him better then and Jack's like yeah obviously and Dean's like. WELL. I GOT SOME IM SURE. and Jack's like oh nooo dean that's DANGEROUS. and Dean's like idc do it. so they do it. and

okay so once they do it it can be like dean gets zapped through the places Cas was just at bc like. it's like magnets yk. grace pieces trying to get back together.

anyway. he's basically going through Universes super quick at first and then he slows down as he gets closer to Cas and then starts seeing glimpses of him and like.. basically catches up to him somehow and Cas is like literally emotionally tortured at this point so he's just. SO RELIEVED. he almost doesn't believe that it's his dean and then jack manages to zone in on Cas and brings him back to heaven and then Cas has Problems for a while but they eventually talk about it and figure it out and live happily ever after the end.

oh! PS: ik this would be heaven endgame but like nothing about Supernatural is real so we can just pretend that Jack sends them back to earth and everything is good okay thanks bye

Little rant but I saw a semi recent post about how RedCrackle is weird cause Carmen mentioned how she sees Graham as a big brother and that shipping them is weird cause if the brother/sister dynamic and I’m like……. Why are people still arguing if it’s okay to ship TWO NON RELATED ADULTS 😭 almost been three years since the show ended and peope still think redcrackle is like Reylo or like pro ships😭😭😭 I could literally write a page on why RedCrackle is the ship that makes the most sense out of the show but I digress

And both of those times are an acknowledgment of what their Past dynamic was before

A) he was revealed to have completely different values than her [but she still has hope for him even tho looking up to him is over]

B) the possibility of reconciliation was presented as a possibly romantic one.

if you’re still doing the ship meme, i’m really curious abt ur opinion on madatobi (& the fanon perception of tobirama in general if ydm)

I'm not even putting the template on here bc it would just be like no i hate it gross bad, and I don't wanna make anyone feel bad about what they ship. whatever fictional characters you wanna slap together, you do it idc

that said, here are my personal thoughts feelings and opinions about madara and tobirama being together.

first of all, at the very minimum, I prefer ships that have chemistry in canon. i like the couples best that share things on screen and have a profound connection. The only thing Madara and Tobirama share in naruto is a mutual want to murder each other. which can be hilarious, so like honestly, shippers go off I guess.

however, I'd never go for this ship personally because I am very attached to Madara as someone who is oppressed, discriminated against, and overall very unfairly treated for pretty much the entirety of his existence. Tobirama is the main player in their generation who perpetuates every single thing that makes Madara's life hell. He pushes hashirama to make choices for the village that marginalize the uchiha clan because he's a prejudiced fearmonger. He doesn't believe peace is possible with the uchiha, develops a convenient explanation as to why all of them will inevitably become the joker (the curse of hatred associated with the sharingan), he uses madara's body to research the sharingan. As soon as hashirama is dead, he forces the uchiha on the outskirts of the village and places them under surveillance. If everything he does in the flashbacks isn't enough to see what kind of guy he is, we can look instead at his legacy- danzo and hiruzen, who both are still perpetuating discrimination against the uchiha clan in naruto's present day. This is the main reason I'll never ship them. I'm all too familiar with the issues madara faces while he's alive to see him with tobirama.

aside from that, and moving on to my thoughts on tobirama in general, I find him insufferable as a character. if I met someone like him in real life, I would hate them quickly. I will say this, he's interesting psychologically. I like to pick him apart and look at how his trauma and the way he was brought up leads him into being such a fucking prick. He has a terrible fear of the uchiha. all of his jutsu were devised specifically to combat the sharingan. he is analytical, observant, good at what he does, and all to placate a fear that becomes so severe and irrational, it endures even after the senju and the uchiha stop warring.

anyway, my best guess at why the fandom loves him so much? he has a cool design. he's presented as a hero. you can overlook the underlying motifs if you're not paying attention or you've never been discriminated against. he's hashirama's brother. they project onto him. could be a lot of things. no hate to the tobirama lovers. everyone is allowed to find themselves in their own characters. they just see something that I don't, and that's what makes fandoms so unique and interesting, isn't it.

🥺 Is there a certain type of moment or common interaction between your characters that never fails to put you in your feels?

Honestly, I’m not sure? I do tend to gravitate towards certain themes. I love writing sickfics, hurt/comfort, whump, etc. There’s something about two people putting aside everything to help each other that just gets me right in the feels. 

😅 What's a story or scene you've created that you're a smidge embarrassed exists?

Okay. Alright. Sit down motherfuckers. I'm gonna tell you a quick story.

Fun fact about me: I like to include names of my loved ones as minor/throwaway characters in my writing. For example, I need a name for some random cashier or whatever, so I name him after a friend. Y'know, as a shoutout to that friend.

Well. In A Parade of Indignities, there's a scene where Dib is reminiscing over his mother's grave. He has no mother in canon, so I had to invent a character and give her a first name.

I named her after my mother.

It wasn't meant to be anything other than a little shoutout to my very sweet mom. I had no experience with parent death and didn't see this detail as anything but an easter egg.

Well, less than a year later, I did get experience with a parent dying. Really suddenly dying.

I read back through Parade some months later and got to that part. Words cannot express the emotions that went through me. Really, I can't even say what those emotions were. Shame for writing something so serious in the first place without really knowing the fallout of losing a parent? Embarrassment for adding such a dark "easter egg"? All I can say is that I immediately slammed that "edit" button and changed the name of Dib's dead mother to a different, more generic name with no personal connections to me.

💖 What made you start writing?

My mom and dad! They were/are amazing writers and always encouraged me.

My second grade teacher also ignited my enthusiasm for writing. I remember her calling me to her desk multiple times just to tell me how wonderful and descriptive my little stories and book reports were. She even invited my parents in one time to teach the class about writing. 

I was incredibly lucky to have people in my life at that young age who could nurture my interests. It kept me going and I improved as a writer because of it. I credit my continued improvement to the people who have been in my corner to support me.

Dib and Gaz are actually really fun to write! They let me get as angsty and sarcastic as I want! 😂

Yeah! I spend a lot of time researching, actually. I research really obscure things and get frustrated when I can’t find answers. I also tend to go down really useless rabbit holes lol.

💞 Who's your comfort character?

Oh, definitely Zim. 

🧠 Pick a character, and I'll tell you my favorite headcanon for them.

Professor Membrane gets so over-the-top concerned for his children when they’re sick, he goes overboard with tests and remedies. Think “Gaz, Taster or Pork,” but for everything Dib and Gaz become afflicted with. Common colds, hay fever, food poisoning, etc. It gets to the point where Dib and Gaz don’t tell him when they’re sick and simply take care of each other while keeping the illness on the down-low. 

I’m actually writing a little fic based around this headcanon and how it puts a strain on their family. 

🤯 What's a genre you struggle with as a writer (ex. romance, action, etc.)?

Definitely romance.

🤲 Would you please share a snippet of a wip?

Sure! Here’s a snippet from something I’m almost done with: 

Dib quietly drifted to his bedside and stared down at him. “Zim…” He had to gather himself before he could repeat the same words he’d asked before. “Tell me who did this to you.”

The words hung in the air between them. Dib’s tone had taken on a quality that, coming from the mouth of any another person, would demand respect. Gone were the petulant, whiny inflections of his youth, and in their place was a certain poise that was easily reminiscent of his own father’s confident speech pattern. Unfortunately, what he had to say often overpowered how he said it. his attempts at persuasion scarcely had any effect on anyone in his life. They certainly never had any effect on Zim. This time, though, he hoped against hope that they would. 

✅ What's something that appears in your fics over and over and over again, even if you don't mean to?

A lot of characters in my fics fall asleep at the drop of a hat in my fics. I find that it’s a good way to end a chapter, but it sure does happen a lot. It’s like an impulse thing to just write a character going to bed at the end of a long, eventful chapter. They get a little sleep. As a treat. 

💥 How do you feel about criticism?

If it's constructive and/or from a good friend, I welcome it. If it's from some rando and more along the lines of "you didn't write this character the way I personally see them," then I'll roll my eyes big time and delete it.

I’ll add, I LOVE constructive criticism for things that I might have gotten factually wrong. One time, back in 2018, a nurse DMed me and let me know that some of what occurred in Chapter 12 of Parade wasn’t super accurate to what an actual nurse or doctor would do. This person spent the next couple days helping me understand certain medical terminology and procedures, which was super helpful. I rewrote that section of the story, and was super happy knowing I wrote it as factually accurate as I could. 

I also love seeing typos pointed out! It’s hard to get everything, even with a beta reader. I guarantee that if you DM me with a typo, I will drop everything and log into AO3 to edit it. 

💔 Is there a fic of yours that broke your heart?

Of mine? God, I don’t know. Anything that involves super deep depression is gonna break my heart. I’m working on something right now that involves a character feeling trapped and hopeless. That’s hard to write when you’re not also writing a concrete happy ending to go along with it.

Which writer or director would you say has delivered the most (and best) buddie moments and which writer and director could you see being involved in creating their canon moment?

I've chosen writers and directors who we *know* are still actively involved with the series beyond receiving credit just because they have connections. Writers Juan Carlos Coto - Sink or Swim (not Buddie, but Buckley-Diaz family feels aplenty); Fallout; What's Next? (co-writer); Buck Begins (an episode about Buck that manages to be about Buddie, too); Panic (co-written with Tim Minear) Lyndsey Beaulieu - Rage (no matter how anyone feels about the fighting/lawsuit arcs, Buck assuming Eddie and Christopher would be just fine without him and Eddie stating that things were definitely not fine was a top-tier scene for the otp); Seize the Day ("Uh. This is Eddie's house. I'm not really a guest."); Alone Together (credit also goes to director David Grossman, but the scene where Eddie attaches Buck's harness and they review the plan for how to rescue the pregnant girls? *swoon* It was a preview of what's to come when they're canon!); Parenthood (”Can’t you both be good cops?”// “No!”); Suspicion (co-writer) [You already know.]; Desperate Times (co-writer) [a must-see to understand where Eddie's at rn]; Wrapped in Red (co-writer) [She helped shape where Buddie is at going into 5B] Andrew Meyers - The Christmas Spirit; Fools (Buddie/Buckley-Diaz scenes to juxtapose Ana's stance on the skateboarding incident); Future Tense (Buckley-Diaz scenes that were kept under wraps until the episode aired); Suspicion (the other co-writer); Desperate Times (co-writer with Lyndsey); Brawl in Cell Block 9-1-1 (hostage situation) Bob Goodman - Is Bob on Lyndsey and Andrew’s level? NO. Does he try his fucking best? YEAH.  Breaking Point (He wrote Eddie coming home to Buck after his date! And decided Christopher should take an Uber to see his other dad!); Treasure Hunt (Petty Eddie was a beautiful sight, idc idc); Home and Away (The Balcony Scene ™, a moment that could have easily replaced Eddie with the gf, but Bob knows what us gays want!) Kristen Reidel - Kids Today; What's Next? (co-writer); Survivors (Buddie post-shooting, change in guardianship, Eddie saying "Evan" for the first time ever...); Desperate Measures (JUST from a Buddie fan perspective, the closing scenes where Eddie tells Buck he's going home to break up with Ana, Buck returns to an empty apartment, and we watch Eddie struggle with explaining his true feelings to Ana???? 5/6 minutes of television that is worth a re-watch!) Tim Minear (yeah, I said it) - Under Pressure (co-writer); Help Is Not Coming (co-writer); This Life We Choose; Panic (co-writer) As (co)showrunner, Tim has the final say re: what stays in each episode's script. Everything we love about Buddie, every scene that is giffed, every piece of dialogue that is quoted and used for edits or fics, none of it would exist if Tim didn't think it was worth including. His approval is the #1 reason why Buddie's story has played out in a way nobody could have envisioned. Directors This is a much quicker list to put together since the obvious answers are ‘whoever directed our favorite scenes’, but again, I’m only listing the names that are currently associated with the show or were associated within the last few seasons.  Bradley Buecker - 7.1 + Help Is Not Coming (parts two and three of the earthquake arc where Buck learns about Christopher); Merry Ex-Mas; This Life We Choose; Sink or Swim; Panic; Desperate Times Marcus Stokes - Fallout  David Grossman - I have no idea where this man has been, but he gave us some GOOD content: Fools; Alone Together (the harness scene I mentioned above was his doing!); Parenthood; Breaking Point (the domesticity in Eddie returning home to Buck and Chris!!!); Treasure Hunt (Eddie being an actual wrench in BT’s blossoming relationship??? His facial expressions??? G O L D.) Paula Hunziker - Has only directed one (1) episode of OG 911. It was the hostage situation. Self-explanatory.  Robert M. Williams Jr. - Eddie Begins; Survivors Buck thinks Eddie’s gonna die? Tim knows just who to call.  Brenna Malloy (OUR QUEEN) - 9-1-1, What’s Your Grievance? (Eddie tries to validate Buck’s feelings about his parents. His expressions were so intense that not all of them made the final cut :P); Suspicion (just Buck and Eddie staring each other down in the street right after Eddie gets shot nbd nbd); Home and Away (The Balcony Scene™); Wrapped In Red (sneaky Buckley-Diaz angles! Buck’s reaction to Eddie leaving the 118 being eerily similar to his shock when Eddie was shot!) As for who I think may be involved in creating their major canon moment... I would be happy with any of the directors listed here, tbh. Brenna is my number one choice because whenever she shows up you know there’s bound to be a scene we won’t stop talking about.  I (and I’m sure many others) have expressed my desire to see Lyndsey and Andrew involved in the “big” Buddie episode because they just...they GET IT. But honestly? I think Tim is going to want to be hands-on because he made it happen. And knowing that Tim doesn’t usually work alone, I could see him linking up with Kristen since they both (currently) have creative control over the show.

Horse-lather took it up, threw the scent wide like a fisher's net in -- other minds, other wolves, humans, Mechanicsburgers. What's the scent. Whose is it.

Where is it.

It was a -- a tangle and a crowd and an endlessly branching road and it was too much for her mind and ached, buzzed like a migraine without the pain just yet, it bloomed through her like a crack of stone on a window, brutal and beautiful.

It was in town.

Here, someone said, strange and flat outside of her head, no depth of emotion-memory-otherthoughts. Here, I'll take you.

Psychic wolves fic where Agatha first connects consciously to the pack mind and gets into the groove. idk, mind melds are a thing that cannot happen in real life but are so fascinating but like, how do you evoke the right feel of them? how to describe them so it’s not like normal speech, except without opening your mouth? especially with non-human minds. i feel like i really hit my stride in that one.

the whole fic in general is nicely self-contained and packs a good hard emotional punch what with “hey your brother died mmmm blank shock and depression” => “you gotta be the heir now idc that you’re Just The Girl Spare and were always an outsider who was never trained or expected to deal with it, deal with it” => “oh also it was probably an assassination HEY WHOA holy shit.” this agatha goes from alienated daughter of narcissist who was just lucky to escape with her sense of self mostly intact even if she had to jettison everything else on the way out, if feeling unmoored, to “this town is mine these wolves are mine everything that breathes here is mine to love and protect and yeeeep revenge is mine as well.”

like, agatha’s stages of grief are basically shock/denial => wrath => revenge => ahhh ok i’m good. she’s a really powerful presence in canon and i think this fic managed to get a good glimpse of the scope of her “yeah i don’t like this reality, i’mma crush through it to get a better one”.

plus i just really like the wording for “it bloomed through her like a crack of stone on a window”. yeah, it’s destruction, but it’s so damn pretty.
